Governments are pushing for the elimination of cars with internal-combustion engines, and at some point we may see even classic cars taken off the road. There is a way to save them, though it requires stripping out the powertrain and installing a battery-electric setup. A number of companies have started offering this service, and even some automakers, such as Volkswagen Group, General Motors and Ford, have become involved. One company offering a comprehensive service is the U.K.'s Everrati, which has developed an electric conversion for the Ford GT40. Thankfully an original GT40 wasn't involved in this conversion. Instead, Everrati used one of the excellent replica versions built by Jupiter, Florida-based Superformance. Ford GT40 electric conversion by Everrati First announced last summer, Everrati's GT40 features a custom-designed powertrain generating a total 800 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque from a pair of electric motors at the rear axle. A 6.52:1 compound single ratio reduction transmission and limited-slip differential also feature. The battery is a 60-kilowatt-hour unit that runs on a 700-volt electrical system, and Everrati said the unit has been designed to last on the racetrack. The range is claimed to be more than 125 miles and a charge from 20-80% will take about 45 minutes using a high-speed charger. Performance figures include a 0-60 mph acceleration figure of less than four seconds and a top speed of about 125 mph. Ford GT40 electric conversion by Everrati To ensure optimum weight distribution and enhance vehicle dynamics, every element of the powertrain, including the battery and driveline, utilizes existing chassis structural mounting points. This has resulted in a weight distribution of 40:60 front to rear, which is closer to the ideal 50:50 split than what some original GT40s raced with. The curb weight at 2,910 pounds is also comparable to some of the original GT40 race cars when fully fuelled. Where appropriate, certain components beyond the powertrain have also been upgraded to meet modern standards (think safety) or help further future proof the car. Other models Everrati can convert include the 964-generation Porsche 911, Land Rover Series IIA, and W113-generation Mercedes-Benz SL.

A compact four-door, hatchback, 5-speed manual transmission. Fun, affordable little car! Surprisingly with a lot of room for its size and quite zippy. The instrument panel is well designed. My only complaint was the facing around the shifter reflected the sun in the most intense way. I wish they would have used the same material that was used on the dash. Great gas mileage. I chose to use full synthetic oil from day one. Ive had one issue with this vehicle, the radio would not turn off causing the battery to drain. Ford replaced, no problem. I upgraded my tires. The second set made a big difference in the road noise inside the vehicle. I will definitely buy another Ford in the future.

February 5, 2014, I was sent to Ford in Olive Branch Mississippi to check out the 2014 Ford Fiesta. I was on the road the next day (the car was delivered from about 40 miles away in TN). Sunday on March 2nd I was pulling into the driveway and the engine malfunctioned and vibrated continually until the engine was shut off. I cranked it up and it was fine afterwards - I assumed it was a simple computer issue. March 4, 2014 - MY BIRTHDAY. I pick my daughter up from school and break down at a four way stop on the way home. ENGINE MALFUNCTION. Shut off engine immediately. Major vibration! Roadside assistance was attentive, but couldnt get to me until 6pm. By this time Ford could not tell me if I was able to get a rental car or anything until my car made it to the shop. All I wanted was an answer and a plan on getting my daughter to school the next day. I get a rental the next day, but not until about 10:30am and this is after calling all morning and being avoided. I was called to pick up my vehicle on Thursday afternoon and told that a code was ran showing problem with the throttle and the problem was WEATHER INDUCED. They reset the computer and gave me the car back. I knew this would be an issue. An hour after driving the car, it malfunctioned again, and once again would not accelerate or move more than a few inches. I was picked up and given a rental. I was not contacted throughout the weekend. I called Monday morning with no answer so I decided to go get some things out of my car. They told me they were just about to call me to let me know my car was ready and that they had replaced the entire throttle body. I was not happy about keeping a brand new car that already had a serious problem, but needed to catch up on all the errands. Today - Tuesday, March 11 I find myself BROKE DOWN AGAIN. I now have no rental, no car, and a booked vacation in 3 days. Happy spring break to me. I will never purchase a Ford again. Not to mention the miles put onto my car from the shop driving it as well as the gas that was not replaced.

Id purchased a slightly used ford fusion but upon the garages inspection they hadnt bolted the calipers in place so it was being fixed. I had a loan of Taurus I was hit head on by a jeep grand Cherokee and it ran over the driver’s side of car, spun me around, tore their own tire completely off wires wheel and all but didnt even crack the windshield or dent the hood. There were tire tracks directly in from of my line of vision. Im glad the airbag blocked the view of underside of it. I did shortly after purchase an expedition smaller vehicles Im nervous in but do believe if Id had a different manufacturer the outcome would have been significantly worse.

I am embarrassed to say that I have continued to purchase Ford products through the years even though they have proven to be poorly manufactured. Well I have finally learned my lesson. Never again will I purchase a Ford vehicle. Some examples, Explorer 30,000 miles cracked engine block, Excursion 52,000 miles transmission failure, Expedition tailgate paint bubbling off (they all do), Raptor 50,000 miles garage kept. A hole rusted through the bed (common).Fords response to all of these defects Drop Dead. If you wish to experience the absolute worst imaginable customer service call (800) 392-3673. I honestly felt as though they were mentally challenged so I escalated the case first to Matt ** never replied then Phill badge # ** big zero then Brian badge # ** bigger zero and finally the head supervisor Rose ** whom I would best describe her as robotic nit wit unable to respond beyond cookie cutter prepared answers. As a small business owner I purchase multiple vehicles annually as well as personal vehicles so over the course of the last 35 years I have purchased more than 100 new vehicles. The majority of which were Fords. In 2017 alone F350 $50,000.00, A Expedition EL $70,000 and most recently a Raptor $70,000.00. So I hope Mr. Ford reads this and terminates each and every one of the inept, indifferent individuals at Ford who misrepresent themselves as a customer service department.

May of 2012 we purchased a brand new Ford f150. Less than 2 years later (before 50000 miles) we noticed the check engine light and airbag light came on. Took it in and got charged to do diagnostic test $75 with a warranty. Ford told us someone has to get paid for the work. Results were a fuel sensor. Our gauges are off. We can have a full tank of gas and it says empty and even alarms us. We can be driving and put the truck in neutral, turn it off and on and it will then give a reading. The check engine light is not always on and same with the airbag. Never got a reason for the airbag. The Ford mechanic claims there are no problems. We even had an experience once while driving we noticed smoke coming from under the drivers seat and smelled a hot smell. We pulled over to check it out and it stopped and we found nothing wrong or signs of burning. We feel ripped off and with the mechanics claiming nothing is wrong (when we know there is). We feel cheated and endangered.

I was told it would cost me $972 to replace a water pump. WTF is that. I would feel better if they would have pulled a gun out to rob me instead. That is crazy. How much are mechanics making an hour? The parts were less than $200. The remaining was the cost for labor. I refused the repair and was charged $90 for an inspection. I will get the neighborhood mechanic to do it for less than $100. Ford has lost their mind and my Ford will be up for sale as soon as the repairs are complete.

I have a 2011 Mercury Milan that has a power steering assist fault and has stopped working. It starting happening in the summer of 2016 and would reset after turning the car off and then back on. It now has a message on the dashboard and says Power Steering Assist Fault and Advance Service Track. I researched and Ford has a recall on the same make, model and year but Ford says that my VIN number is not on the recall even my car is doing the same, exact thing and the power steering has failed. They are trying to charge me the diagnostic fee and refuse to fix my car even though there is a recall on this make, model and year. I need someones assistance! This is a danger to me and my family while driving. I do not have the funds to fix the vehicle. The part alone is $1,200 plus the labor. Ford Motor Company should be ashamed of themselves. Many other individuals have gotten in accidents because of this problem. They have totaled their vehicles and gotten hurt. Why cant Ford do the right thing and fix my vehicle? I am using all resources to announce this problem. I am so outraged and disappointed in Ford Motor Company. I am putting it out there to everyone not to ever buy a Ford and how they do not care about the lives and families who own their vehicle, and all of the recalls that they have on many different Ford vehicles. How can you have a recall on a vehicle and say that my VIN is not under the recall when it has the same, exact problem?? It is disgusting that this company can get away with this!!

I manage and run F-450 & F-550 trucks in extremely harsh environments. I can tell you for absolute certainty that if you maintain these trucks according and utilize the V10 gas engines you will get a very long life put of this piece of equipment. The number of fools that feel they need a diesel truck is shocking. I have extensive fleet Management experience and can assure you that for most of you buying a diesel is not a good idea. The modern emissions standards put on diesel engines ensures poor reliably and efficiency in comparison to the gas engines. For you sensible folks that want a durable and reliable machine, the V10 engine is all that you can ask for, just remember these are work trucks not mini vans.

Last year, front right coil spring failed and punctured the tire requiring the car to be towed and repaired at a cost of $550. Seven months later, rear drivers side coil failed. Today actually, not sure if the tire has been damaged. I will check that at time of pick up at a cost of $350. I have owned many, many cars and never had this problem with any of them. I am concerned with the other two. Fortunately, both failures were at low speeds. How can this not be a recall. Im much more concerned with the safety aspect than the cost. While Im happy to own a 5 Star Taurus, maybe 5 is rated a little too high, and lets get this thing fixed before people start getting hurt. Thanks!

I know many of you already know how angry I am at Ford, but let me just tell yall about how Mark Martin Ford and Kia in Batesville, AR has made it worse. Keep in mind, Ive already had to have three other recall issues fixed (one of which is the clutch which is getting fixed again). So my car had stopped turning off for a week or so when I pressed the off button. Even when I left the vehicle and took my keys, it sounded like the engine continued to run for another ten minutes until it went off although the internal stuff turned off. On top of that, it had been hesitating to accelerate and shuddering, making it difficult and sketchy to drive. Which by the way, is an issue of which a class action lawsuit was filed against Ford and Ford lost a couple years ago.My battery had been tested a few days before this even happened and it was good. Almost a week ago, the engine wouldnt turn on when I tried to start it, but all of its internal lights and components turned on and wouldnt shut off. It became a very loud blinky, electrical hassle to get them to turn off. My cousin came over to try to jump my battery but nothing happened. He tested it at that time and it showed the battery was fine. Ford towed it to their service department and I didnt hear anything except that they wouldnt be able to look at it until late Friday. So I didnt hear anything until Monday when they said my problem was I just had a bad battery. And that I would have to pay at least $130 for that. They also said they would have to replace my clutch but that would be covered under warranty. At no point did they explain why my car wouldnt shut off when it should have, but they said itll be ready today. I said I disagreed on the battery and the service manager said well you can have your old battery back and not pay a thing then. But still no explanation of why my car wouldnt shut off and said that couldnt be related to my battery going bad overnight. Mark Martin Ford had my car for two days before even looking at my car. So in my mind, my battery went bad somewhere between that Thursday morning and whenever they looked at it on Friday or Monday morning.I called Ford customer service corporate where they gave me a case number and told me the service manager at Mark Martin Ford and Kia would call me about it which didnt happen. When I called him, he told me he didnt even know what a case number was and said I needed to call Ford. I called Ford and they said its the dealerships problem, call them. Both of them hyperfixated on the fact that my battery was dead and didnt explain or care about the other issues. So, how they are going to resolve it: put my old, now bad battery back on and I can take it as is, no payment necessary. Instead of fixing the actual problem of my car not turning on and off when it should. Sounds like the professional type of Ford service youll hear about when you get put on hold for forty minutes. They both said maybe I should talk to the manager. Flashback to six months after I even bought the car when I talked to the manager and he told me it was my problem because I bought the car to begin with. This after I had already had a leak, had to spend a month and a half to even get a spare key, and dealt with one or two recall issues where after they fixed it, I had problems after. He and Ford, as a company, have reminded me how bad of a reputation Ford has and why I never want to deal with them again. I have no idea why I let myself get talked into buying a Ford in the first place but it was a mistake all around. I want to urge yall to never buy a Ford Fiesta or Focus at the very least and to reconsider going to Mark Martin Ford in the future for a car. I paid full asking price for this car and it has plagued me and will continue to plague met until I get rid of it.

2002 Ford Taurus SEL - On January 5, 2013, I was backing out of my driveway and heard a pop. When I got out to look, my front drivers side tire was deflated. Come to find out, the coil spring broke and punctured the tire. I found out previous model years had a recall for this same issue but not 2002. I called Ford customer service at 800-392-3673 (1 for English then keep hitting 0 and youll get a live person. I didnt even bother waiting to listen to the messages, just kept hitting 0). I was told that there is not a current recall for this issue with this model year. What they did was document the concern by forwarding it to the National Highway Safety Board. This stinks, as this will now cost a pretty penny to get fixed.

In July 2014 I received a letter of a Recall on my vehicle regarding the Torque Sensor and Steering Column going out. I took it in to the Dealership where they did whatever they were suppose to do (I assume), though it only took them approx. 5 to 10 mins. At that time I was not having any issues with my vehicle. Speed up now to March 2016, I started having issues with my steering wheel vibrating and moving back and forth and my vehicle making odd noises. I took it in to the same dealership to be checked, they did a diagnostic test and told me my Torque Sensor/steering column were going out. I had them do the repairs. That evening after I okayd the repairs I found the Recall Letter which was in regards to the issue I was having now with my vehicle. I told Steve in the Service Dept and he called Ford Motors to see if my vehicle was covered for the Parts and Labor as the Recall letter stated, he was told No. I also called Ford Motors and was told No that the Recall had expired. In the Recall letter it states that Alternatively, the dealer may need to replace the torque sensor or the steering column. This service will be performed free of charge (parts and labor). I find Ford Motors to be very dishonest and they dont care about their customers safety. They obviously knew of the faulty parts in my vehicle, hence the Recall Letter I received. I did take it in to the dealership when I received that notice. Again at the time of the Recall my vehicle was fine, a little over a year and a half later I end up with the exact issue of that Recall. I feel Ford Motors Company should cover these charges and reimburse me. I have also emailed Ford Motors and received the same response No that the Recall has expired, and after the first 12,000 the warranty is no good. They should cover these parts.

I have bought my Ford Ecosports from Elite Ford, Bangalore on 03-March-2015. On 2nd Aug 2015 (Sunday) when I was driving in Bangalore, it has started giving vibration and stopped in middle on the road. Somehow I managed to take the vehicle to service center with help of Ford roadside assistance. The next day (Monday) when I met to service center people, the response I get from Elite Ford was worst. They were not concerned about my vehicle condition and my sentiment on my loved vehicle. They simply tried to wash their hands by blaming my driving capability, without considering my prior driving experience. Seems they were very happy to see my vehicle in that conditions. Within 30 min they made the estimation for 15000 and sent to mail for my approval and also I am getting calls from them every day for my approval to start the repair. I have below concerns on my vehicle and Ford India. 1. How the clutch will worn-out within 3-4 months (4000 KM). Is the vehicle is that sensitive? 2. Is there any different style of driving for Ford vehicles? 3. As Ford assured for 2 years warranty, I am very much eligible to get my vehicle corrected from you, why you people (Ford/Elite Ford) are trying washing your hands by blaming customers driving capabilities. 4. If it continuously giving the same problem, how can I maintain the vehicle for long time. Is it punishment for us for choosing the great Ford car. 5. If the same case happened to any other important parts (Engine/GearBox), what we have to do with that vehicle. 6. If the same happened after 3-4 months, what to do. Is it possible to maintain the vehicle.

I drove my truck 5 hours a day except for Sunday. My starter went out in my driveway. It started acting up 2 days before. I decided to have it towed to the Ford dealership near me. My wife told me what the estimate was going to be the next day $5,500. They told her the engine was going to have to be replaced. Even though the motor didnt burning any oil up. It had good suspension and steering or a safety hazard and had many parts to replace. When I spoke with the service manager he told me there were safety issues. The ball joints were going out all the way around. There are no ball joints in the rear. I believe there is no honesty or integrity and the way they run their service department. Most people dont bring an older vehicle to the dealership. But mine is a 2000 and this is 2016. I feel as though you get what you pay for. But not in this case. Looking at the long list of repairs and how important they are their estimate should have been even more than what they told me giving me the impression that the job was probably going to be charged for and not done. Now there is $3,000 that I have for repairs. Overlooking the fact that the truck was brought in just for a starter I tried to negotiate take care of the safety issues which I dont know if Ill be charged and ripped off for. Because the suspension and steering I had been serviced correctly through the years. And to put a starter in add not replace the motor. Lets see if this is going to cost the full $3,000. I bet Im going to be ripped off any way I look at it. Because its my only vehicle and the truck is at the shop and immovable. I fear theyre able to damage my engine and I cant do a thing to fix the situation. Ford service sucks.

Take it into the shop the following day as that is when they could get us in. Codes P0303 and P0316 pop up for a cylinder 3 misfire. Turns out vehicle needs a TSB 19-2346 performed. For those of you that dont know, that is a whole Long block replacement (Needs a new motor because cylinder 3 burning up coolant). I am frustrated to say the least that ford will not take ownership of the issue, even though they have came out with a full service bulletin for this issue. Keep in mind the vehicle has a perfect service record and only 45,000 miles on it which is well below average. So now I am sitting here with a broke down car that Ford wants me to pay $6,200 to put a new motor in. This issue has got me thinking about switching completely to another brand because their customer service on this event has been horrible and no understanding from them. Just them telling me I am out of luck.

I am 62 years old and I have been driving Ford products for the last 40 years. I have purchased several new vehicles from Ford and not had any problems until I recently purchased a 2018 Ford F-150 with a 302 V-8 August 21, 2018 from Cook Ford in Texas City, Texas. The next day the ac went out. The front bumper was mounted crooked. It was almost 2 inches higher on one side than the other. The Texas edition emblem on the tailgate was installed crooked. The door dampener on the driver side pops when you open and close the door. The engine idles very rough. There is a slight knocking noise coming from the motor when idling in park. I have never purchased a new vehicle with this many problems. The 10 speed transmission does not shift smooth at all.I have just over 8000 miles on this truck and this is the worst experience I have ever had with a Ford vehicle. I have always encouraged my children to purchase Ford products until now. I have been thinking about getting rid of this vehicle and switching to another brand. It seems as if the quality control for Ford Motor Company does not exist like it was. Think twice before you purchase a Ford product.

Dont purchase a Ford Vehicle. The transmission will most likely die on you early on. I cannot tell you how upset I am for the purchase of my Ford. I have to say a prayer each and every time I am driving this car, in particular, if you are driving the vehicle up a grade. The odometer on my car is only 25977 miles. A LEMON in every sense!

We purchased our E-150 custom van 7 years ago. It has been well-maintained while we owned it. It had been parked for two days when it spontaneously caught fire. Thanks to a quick response by our local emergency services, there was little damage to our house. But the van is a total loss. It was a rude awakening to see it catch fire too. Nothing like having a police officer pound on your door, yelling, Your house is on fire. Get out! I had no idea this was so common.

We drove a very short way to our local tractor supply company to pick up feed. I was in the store for about 15 minutes. When I got to the register someone said, Theres a truck on fire in the parking lot! The fire had just started. It was up in flames and burnt to a crisp in less than ten minutes. Flames shot 20 feet up in the air and it melted the pavement under the truck. We would have been dead if it had happened twenty minutes sooner. The fire department made it in good time, but the truck was already totaled. Everything in the cab was ruined, including all three childrens car seats. Thankful I have comprehensive insurance. Its a total loss. I have no truck. >:-o Up until this point, this truck ran like a top and was very reliable.

When I leased my 18 Escape I immediately noticed the variable transmission was shifting strangely. It is one of the new versions that pause when you are stopped at a light. However it was banging into gear at times. I brought it in, they did some work on it, and when I left the problem was still there. I went back to the dealership the next day, drove with the service advisor (very nice guy), and was told that is actually the way it should be working. At that point accepted my poor purchase and moved on. Fast forward 6 months later the car is now lurching forward as it shifts into gears at sporadic times. Totally unsafe, not sure what to do. Does anyone else have this issue?

I have a 2006 Ford F-150. Right after starting the truck the drivers side air bag blew in my face. It was like a bomb. The airbag exploded with such great force causing chest bruising, and lacerations, and little burns all over my arms and face. The bag started smoking and burning little holes in it, filling my lungs with smoke. I never received a recall for this. I took my truck to ford service yesterday, and they are being really nice to me.

For 4 times, the write-off in 2008 according, to Experian now put another judgement I bought in Colorado. The judgement is in Missouri. Something isnt right. I need advice! Ford Motor Credit Customer Service is not, and has not done anything but repossess it, sell it, and write it off in 2008. Is this right? I dont have the property, and no change in my credit report. I need some help, and maybe some constructive advice in a letter, if possible. Can I avoid bankruptcy, after all this?

Quality and customer service are they a dinosaur of the past? It seems so.
Quality and customer service are they a dinosaur of the past? It seems so. We purchased a 2009 Ford Diesel truck in May of 2010 with the expectation that this truck with a diesel engine would last upwards in the 200,000-300,000 mileage range with proper maintenance and care, which is one of the major selling points of a diesel engine. The truck was paid off and in September of 2015 just one month out of warranty this truck had to have both turbochargers replaced at Henry Day Ford for a little over $5,000.00. The mileage was at 90,651. Just under the engine break in period as is normally advertised. We asked the service advisor at that time, what more can we do to prevent these costly repairs. The answer was nothing can be done, except regular oil changes at proper intervals. In May of this year we had what we thought to be the exact same problem and returned it to Henry Day Ford to get it repaired. We were told that it would be over $21,000.00 to repair the truck as the engine was beyond repair, two cylinders had low compression. The original price on the truck was just under $35,000.00 and adding in the costly repair in September we are now at $40,000 for a truck with 100,499 miles on it, and it is not running. My first question; what has happened to quality in a product? I remember in the past one of Fords main advertising statement was Quality is job one. Apparently in Fords case, quality is not a job at all. Do we as providers or manufacturers expect to deliver less than the best quality to our customers and consumers? Are we OK with the terrible quality of products and goods that we produce and pass along to the consumer or customer? The fact that we as providers do not put our foot down and say no, we will not sell an inferior product because we have to stand behind it. When it fails, and it will, we look bad too.I know at Tingey Plumbing & Heating we make that choice all the time. There are products that we will not carry from certain manufacturers because of the quality. What would happen if more companies would take that stand? My second question; does customer service even exist anymore? My answer is simple when dealing with Henry Day Ford. Not only no, but absolutely, without question no. We received one phone call from the service advisor to tell us the engine was gone, and when dissatisfaction was expressed, it was implied that it happens frequently. I have made the balance of the phone calls to try to resolve this massive financial disaster to our company with the service manager and he has never attempted to call me back, or give me a realistic resolution to solve the problem. Their answer was bringing the bill down from $21,000.00 to $16,000.00.In the meantime we had placed a call to Ford Motor Company to lodge a complaint and were given a confirmation number and were told someone from Ford Motor Company would call us back. We waited and waited and waited. Meanwhile we have a truck that is not on the road and a technician that does not have his truck to work out of. After a week we called Ford Motor Company back to be told we needed to call the service manager at Henry Day Ford. We took the truck to a different dealer to get a second opinion. We took it to Ken Garff (next door to Henry Day Ford), who has a Ford trained master mechanic that looked at the problem. At first inspection they thought it was a different problem and quoted us $6,300.00 dollars to repair it and when I asked if it was in fact the engine would they still charge us, I was told yes. This is where the huge difference in customer service comes in.Their mechanic decided to use a borescope and look at the cylinders to make sure their diagnosis was correct and he found out the truck had indeed lost two cylinders. Ken Garff then quoted after several calls to us to try to resolve the problem $13,999.00 to replace the engine. Great customer service from Ken Garff. When I called the service manager at Henry Day Ford in an attempt to get help from Ford Motor Company or Henry Day Ford, I was told by the service manager they do not build the trucks so do not take it out on them. He told me that they were not making any money on the engine replacement and that the other dealer could not possibly replace the engine for that price. I asked him if he had even called Ford Motor Company to see if they would do anything and he said no. He expressed over and over again how it would not be fair to him for me to write any bad reviews as they do not build the vehicle.I asked him to call Ford Motor Company and he said he could call the territorial manager and said he would get back to me... he never did. Its been over a week. It appears to me the customer service that Henry Day Ford gives, is to itself, they are more concerned about customers being fair to them than taking care of a serious defect in a diesel truck that is 6 years old with 100,499 miles on it. Yes Henry Day Ford, I know that you do not build the truck but you represent the company and honestly, I have had more customer service in the airport security line in LA, although the wait is about the same, deathly slow or non-existent. Which brings me to the question again, is customer service extinct? I know that in a majority of companies it is, but there are some that still believe that customer service is a top priority. I know that it makes a difference in our customers because they tell us that it does. Why should they settle for mediocrity? Why should any of us? I know that I will never buy another Ford product again; I will never go to Henry Day Ford again. I will not give money to a company that demonstrates a severe lack of quality in addition to an incredible lack of customer service. Can we make a difference? Yes we can if enough people cry out. You either listen to them and respond or you ignore them and hope they go away before you do. Eventually they go away because customer service sets you apart from others who provide the same product.

My 2001 Mercury Sable LS had two broken coil springs in the rear and my wife was commuting with my daughter in the car. I noticed the sag and took it into the shop and told me that if I had waited any longer, she would have had an accident because the spring had corkscrewed a few inches from the inside sidewall! Ford would not cover it, even though it is a defect in metal and quality. It cost me $700 to replace rear suspension. Then my cars front tires were wearing unevenly, so I brought it to the tire shop to have it balanced and rotated. I asked the technician what he noticed and said the tires were wearing a little weird. I already knew I had a problem from there. I brought it to a reputable local front end shop and they found broken springs in the front! I called Ford to complain and they said that there was an extended customer courtesy on the front springs 10 years or 140K, but I did not qualify any longer - 80K on the car but a year too late. I said, “NHSTA says it’s a safety hazard, so I dont understand why you would not be interested in taking care of your customers and their families?” The rep. repeated the same speech and said the engineers often review these reports and could address this again in the future. So now, Im stuck with another suspension bill. This is why people leave the brand, a little help builds loyalty.

From what I hear it is problem with these models and if so what does it take for Ford to make a recall and admit there is a quality issue? I am a Ford man all the way but have 2nd thoughts now. I had been hit on the head which caused damage to my brain in which I havent been able to work. My wife is in kidney failure awaiting treatment for chemo and had been infusing to stay alive! We have always been good payers with Ford credit company, have always, when we made an arrangement to pay, did pay my Ford account. My wife called and was not authorized on my account and talked to Ford customer service department in regards to payment arrangements on my truck, acct **, for an F250 truck. Ford spoke to her and she had asked about it in the future, since I was sick with head injury, if we had to give back vehicle voluntarily in the future, if something happened, what are the steps. The customer service advised her not to do that and to try to find another person to buy the contract and get out of name. The customer service looked at the account and said that as long as $45 was made and a payment of $175 was made in 7 days, the account would be fine and the vehicle would be okay. And, Ford would work with us on the truck until health was better as we were good customers with Ford! After the conversation with Ford, my wife said that she had asked about repossession, they werent interested in doing that. After she heard what would happen, payment then was made on the truck for $399.15 and another for $175 and $200 through the automated system on the phone.Anytime I tried to pay my account over the phone, the contract number would come up as fusion and SSN would not match. Ford was told several times about the error, something was done in refinance, several payments were made, and 3 days later, at 1:40 am, my truck was repossessed from my yard, after my being in the hospital with severe brain injury. Ford had told me a week before the vehicle was fine as long as arrangement was followed through and the Ford truck would not be in default or repossessed in which there was no letter, no warning, nothing. They came, got the truck with payment arrangement done and agreed to by Ford Credit! Payments that were made werent credited correctly on the truck or the other acct **. Edge is ahead, not due till August 2012 with $100 due in July 2012.Being sick, I requested help with the truck since I havent been able to work and I could have borrowed money to catch up payment if I knew of them coming to get the truck! There was no letter, no warning! Yolanda, in customer service, is rude. She told my wife and me on the speaker phone after the truck had been repossessed that the reason was because my wife had asked about voluntary surrendering of the truck if something happened in the future but not at present time. Ford should have not even spoken to my wife about the account. I should have been contacted with this information. It was my account, not my wifes! The repossession company, the driver for Carolina Lending out of Myrtle Beach, SC picked the truck up 3 days after payment arrangement was made and payment posted on Saturday, the 12th. The truck was picked up on the 10th.The repossession driver lied and was rude to my wife and taunted me at the repossession lot, laughed and said the only reason this happened was because of my last name, **. The driver held a grudge for the ** family and threatened that he was coming for my Edge that was current. The system at Ford doesnt post for 3 days or more. That is not my fault. My Edge is not due till August 2012. The driver was rude and threatening me on the lot with vulgar language and rudeness! The police have a report! Ford had no right to speak to an unauthorized person on the account and also, after payment arrangement was made and agreed, and customer service told me a week before and my wife, that nothing would happen and they repossessed. This was wrong. Please help me. Now they want me to pay my truck in full, $18,000. Yolanda is a rude and nasty person at customer service and the supervisor Ms. ** wont call me back! Please help me!

My 2014 Ford Explorer Limited had many issues, mostly small annoying problems that could be resolved quickly, however, Ford service is the worst on the planet, they will make you cry every time you come to see them, and I have tried 3 different dealerships here in California. So they always want to keep the car all day and almost always come back to me at around 4 pm to let me know that they are not able to duplicate the issue, even though in many cases I took a ride with their technician who verified the sound. Then they tell me that the sound I am hearing is normal. One time I lost 4 days dealing with them until they finally replaced the half shaft, now I am having same issue and same argument with them. The Transit Connect wagon is a surprisingly well appointed mini van costing much less than the competitors. This vehicle has been a big hit in Europe for several years and is now breaking into the US market. It has great visibility, a very responsive engine, and plenty of room for 6 passengers. It drives and handles well. I especially like that the back seats fold down flat. We can safely haul our 4 dogs in 4 midsize hard shell dog crates (two side by side in the back, and two facing either sliding side doors) and still have room for gear and luggage. I’m very fond of the wireless cellphone cubby in the dash, no changing cables! It has separate climate controls and comfortable heated seats for the driver and front passenger.

I have a 2012 Ford F350 with 59,300 miles on it. The first transmission service is due at 60,000 miles so I took it to Spradley Barr Ford in Colorado. They advised me that all I needed to do was flush the system and NOT drop the pan to change the filter, that is not needed until the next service at 120,000 miles according to them. I said I wanted the filter changed for an additional $ 120.00 or so. Good thing I did because they found a bunch of metal in the pan. They are covering it under warranty, however they have had my WORK truck for TWO MONTHS and four days now due to a back ordered part. They have told me THREE times that it will be in soon, what a bunch of crap. Ford has rebuilt transmissions in crates available but they just said Too bad. So sad for you. You can wait. Ford is useless and has no customer service in mind. Previously I had a 2002 Ford F350 diesel for fourteen years (2002-2016), I guess Ford loyalty is in the trash. The dealer even said Ford is not supporting the dealerships, WOW what a statement. If I EVER get my truck back it will be sold ASAP and off to Chevy I go. Furthermore I called their customer service line (a misnomer at best) and what does Ford do? They send you a questionnaire that asks if the call taker was polite, helpful etc... Nothing about what is going on, nor did I receive a call or Email about it - poof its just gone. Ford has lost all concept of customer service. Good riddance Ford.

This “car” (Ford Escape 2014) is the perfect example of why I’ll never own another Ford for as long as I can still drive. Major recalls (this one’s the special one that had engine overheating issues that would cause it to essentially meltdown). I had that issue 2 days after pulling off the lot, brand new. Most expensive thing I own outside of a home. It took 3 wks for that issue, and 2 days after, had a failure of the Sync system (that still never works as it should). At that time, I offered to spend more $ to upgrade to the model w/out the issues, and was told Ford can’t do that nor could they work with the dealer. All told, this car has had something on the order of 15 recalls. I paid for the extended warranty, and at 1000 miles over the 50K, the turbo and coolant system failed (related to early overheating issues) locking the entire car up. Called for roadside, was notified that my warranty was expired, no roadside, no warranty. Spent hours (literally 10+ over 4 days) begging for some sort of help. Ultimately, just told the dealer to proceed w/ the repair, planning to continue revisiting W/ Ford for some sort of help. Dealer called to say there were no parts in stock, and best case was 3 months!! That’s no joke! And no offer of help with a rental. Customer service means doing the right thing for the customer, and that doesn’t mean making that customer beg for assistance. Ultimately, after spending all the time, they covered it. Fast forward to today - at 56K, the transmission just popped up alerting me that it has failed and should be serviced immediately. So, I’m back on the phone w/ Ford and fully expecting pushback. Never ever again.

I leased a Ford Fusion 2013 for my son and it had some damage to the front end. I took the car in to my body shop and completed the repairs. I turned in the vehicle on same day I picked up from the Body shop. Two weeks later Ford says I owe 1900 dollars for excess wear. I challenged their assertion by requesting to inspect the damage. Ford said that the car was not available for inspection. When I told them that I had it repaired prior to turning it in and would rather buy it than pay 2000.00 dollars they replied that its not an option but would give me credit for the repairs. My question to them was simple. Why could you give me credit for a repair that you claim I did not do. They are not able to answer this and honestly, Ill rely on my dealership statement that the outside company tries to collect as much as they can to validate their existence. I will pledge that Never again. I will never buy or lease a ford again. I haven’t purchased a Ford in over 25 years. And after purchasing a new 2018 model, I will never buy a Ford again! Like many Americans in the late sixties and seventies I became disappointed by the shoddy workmanship of domestic manufacturers and made the switch to Japanese vehicles. I didn’t feel good about it, but the Japanese cars were cheap, ran well and parts were plentiful. Approximately three months ago along with President Trumps desire to get Americas back to work again, I took a second look at the 2018 Ford. I bought one, at around $41,000. Then on May 4th my driving world came to an end. I hit a rock and damaged the undercarriage causing me to need a wiring harness replacement. I had the vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership. When I inquired how long it would take to repair the vehicle I was informed the there were NO replacements in the parts division, or for that matter anywhere in the United States. No other dealers stocked even one, and the prospect for obtaining one was months away! I contacted Ford’s customer service department about two weeks ago. Three times I was brushed off with the ‘contact your dealer’ excuse, then finally one of your representatives hooked me up with a customer service agent that would be dedicated to resolving my dilemma. That was a joke. He called me one time but left no message or number. The second time he called he left his name and number. After that, I called him and left messages six times before finally reaching him. His attitude and condescending approach left little doubt of his non-concern. He offered no solutions and accused me of being the problem when he heard that I had damaged the undercarriage of my car. He mentioned that he did consult with his manager who stated that Ford has no program to address this lack of parts issue. He inferred that Ford wasn’t wrong for not stocking a replacement part, because if I hadn’t need a replacement then there wouldn’t be an issue! I would think that Ford would have a fiduciary responsibility to stock parts on new models. This morning my new Ford still sits in a service bay and because the windows were not closed due to no electrical connection and no tarp was put on the vehicle to protect it, the interior is now laden with soot and grit. The dealership employees were all very pleased and happy when I purchased my new Ford. But apparently that’s where it ends. Never again. Oh, by the way the assembly’s line on 2018 model that I purchased is still running, and new wiring harnesses like the one I need are still being pulled, but apparently these vehicles are for potential new customers, not for any current ones!

Our key was locked inside the car. I called them at 9:30 pm on 7/6/2018. They set up C&J towing in Madison, GA(50 miles away) to come unlock our vehicle and they would be there in 90 minutes. Two hours later I was told they would be there in 15 minutes. They never showed up and would not answer my calls. It was 4:00am before they called someone else to come out. Which would be 45 minutes before they would get there. Which they did show up and unlocked the door. We were traveling home from our vacation and had been on the road since 9:00am that morning. I really don’t understand why they called someone so far away to start with. VERY DISAPPOINTED in this service.

My husband & I were Ford truck believers for many years until 2016! From our past experience, we expected our 2008 F450 diesel (with the 6.4L engine), would take us into retirement and beyond until the engine blew up this year, with just over 100,000 miles! $18455.66 later, and a lousy 2 year warranty on the new (same, defective engine), we found out that this engine is expected to fail around 100,000 miles making it the worst engine in the Ford truck line. (Our 1999 F350 is still on the road at 250,000+ miles!)I tried to contact Fords Customer Service (which is really their Customer Dis-service as the one answering the phone only has a first name and no boss to appeal to). My expectation was to get a reasonable 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty on the new engine instead of a crappy 2 year warranty (which is equivalent to a 30,000 mile warranty). The mechanics told us they could bulletproof the replacement engine, after the 2 year warranty expired, for about $8000! My question is, why isnt the replacement engine bulletproofed already? What was once a great company with integrity has been replaced by fraud and failure. I am embarrassed to be driving a Ford after my humble retirement account has been robbed of $20,000.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta is a lemon! Ford needs to take back every one made and refund owners! Ive never been so disappointed in a Ford. Weve had the car in twice for transmission work and it still vibrates and drags. Ive had plenty of manual transmissions and the automatic tranny in this car drags bad like a person who doesnt know how to use a clutch or shift. To top it off, we already had to buy tires for it because the cheap crap Kumhos they put on the new car already split! I wont buy another Ford product. I stood by Ford when they didnt take a buyout from the Government, but this is how they treat loyal customers... Sell them lemons!

Fiesta ST - I felt intermittent squeaking and occasional friction in mine and deeply regret not taking it to the dealer the moment I noticed it. Pretty frightening episode, too, since the car stopped dead on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago with heavy 60 MPH traffic and no shoulder.Called 911 who dispatched a tow truck but it was a tense fifteen minutes of desperately waving unsuspecting drivers around my dead Ford. Its a nice car: good performance and practical, but if the manufacturer doesnt back what they sell better to buy from a more reliable brand like Honda, Toyota, Mazda, or Subaru who have all served me well in the past. Ill avoid Ford in the future in favor of automakers that provide real warranties and better reliability.

We have taken our 2008 Ford Edge into the dealer five times for this same issue over the course of five years. We had the extended warranty but that has run out and the fix is now $1600.00. It seems Ford had put faulty heater cores in the car and the solder inside the heater core is flaking off and plugging it up. Every time we returned the car to the dealer they flushed the system out and put a special coolant in that you cannot even buy in your local auto parts store. If you Google this issue with this vehicle there are hundreds of websites talking of this problem. If Ford knew the issue was the heater core why would they not issue a recall for replacing them and not just flushing them? COST. Why should their customers be forced to foot the bill for their error? After bringing in a vehicle for the same problem five times you would think that would constitute replacing the heater core? If Ford was in fact about customer satisfaction like they claim. I guarantee this will be my last Ford product and I will sway family and friends from buying their products.

I ordered a Lincoln Aviator Black Label in April. In August I was given the VIN number and was told that this car would arrive in two weeks. As of this date (12/17/2019), the car has NEVER shown up. Because of this, I was forced to buy another car that was not the same as I ordered or wait until???? Now I find out that ALL the things that I thought were part of the Black label package are ONLY available at certain select dealers. And none of these are near my house. I cannot even get a free car wash. Also, yesterday my wife had a flat tire and when she called Lincoln she was told that there was nobody close enough to help her. So naturally she called me to fix the problem but only after damaging the tire trying to get off the road.My question is how does anyone lose a car like the one I ordered after it is built?? And when you pay $7,500 extra for Black Label you should get something other than someone telling you that they cannot help you. Lincoln has a long way to go, to get their standards up to the foreign dealers. I called Lincoln today, and was advised that they will file my complaint. I am sure I know where!!!! The car is sitting in the garage after I removed the tire myself and ordered a new one. It will be a week to get this new tire, without the use of any car. All this just days before Christmas. Someone should tell me why a 74 year old who just had abdominal surgery 4 weeks ago had to remove the tire and why I paid some much extra for a Black Label that means nothing??? I am writing this after talking to Lincoln and realizing that once they have you money, they could care less.Robert **

Bought a new 2014 Ford Focus Titanium off the lot and within about 4 or 5 days my engine was already starting to shutter. I brought it back and they said thats just the way it is. I believed them sadly. Overtime it got a lot more aggressive, and finally they decided to look at my engine with only 20,000 miles. I had a recall and a few other things plus them looking at my transmission so they said they need to keep it a few days, and refused to give me a loaner car, or a rental. They did not call me, so I decided to call and I could not get a hold of the service adviser for the life of me. I even asked for the service manager and left several voicemails and he hasnt called me back to this day. Finally called corporate and they got a hold of the service adviser the next day. I had multiple things wrong, included a new clutch, bearings, transmission fluid, a part for my transmission (they werent very specific). Worst part is a check engine light never went on. He then said the parts will come in on Friday, so my car wont be ready until the following Tuesday, and yes... they still didnt want to give me a rental or a loaner. Well here comes Tuesday, and my car still isnt ready. This is about 13 days they have had my car. It is ridiculous, Ford will never own up to the problems people are having with their cars.

I had a 2011 Ford Edge. Vehicle had high miles and I expect things to go wrong over time but this is just STUPID ENGINEERING!!! When the water pump goes on 3.5L engine it leaked coolant into the oil because it is built into the engine. No warning, and water in the oil basically destroyed the engine unless you are fortunate enough to catch it by fluke. If you are proactive and replace the water pump you are looking at 15 hours of shop labor plus parts and but there is no recommendations to do this in any manual. My motor is ruined and I will never buy a Ford again. WHAT A HORRIBLE DESIGN! There are several Ford engines with this design. This is a motor that is designed to fail. I own a 97 F150 ext cab 4x4 4.6. This truck has been very reliable for years; it had an engine replacement a few years back. Three and a half weeks ago, I traded in my other F150 truck that was a 2006 with a 5.4 (not too good on fuel). Now, having a more economic vehicle, I havent driven the 97 in at least three weeks. On Thursday evening, I started the truck, let it run for 20 minutes (just to ensure the battery stayed charged), shut it off, had dinner and then went to bed about 9:30 and the truck was good then. I had to be into work early on Friday morning. We have had a lot of rain in recent weeks and I thought I may have to work outside. I grabbed my rain jacket from the back seat of my 97 truck at 3 am. On my way to work, the truck seemed good at that time (no burning smells). At 5:30 am, my wife called me at work to tell me that my truck was on fire in the driveway and caught the garage and house on fire. Luckily too, our wonderful neighbor that happened to wake up and look out their window had seen the blazing fire and woke up my family and got them out of the home. The neighbor also called 911 at that time. The local fire dept. also needs recognition to quick response. Had they been 20 minutes later, I think I would have lost my home and all of my garage. The truck is a total loss with melted radiator, hood, plenum, and all aluminum parts. The truck had a lift, tonneau cover and $1800 in tire and wheels are all gone. All the glass and interior is completely gone as well. Of course, the truck is paid for. It only had liability insurance and home insurance doesnt cover the vehicle. Im not sure how to proceed. After reading all the other posting, it is evident that there is an issue and Ford is very aware and is turning a blind eye to the problem. I am having a fire investigator look at the fire. I guess we will see what their thoughts are about fire and Fords ongoing issue.

I have a 2010 XLT with the paint blistering down to bare metal on both sides of the truck. (pictures attached) I am seeing this on many of the trucks of this vintage in my town and they all look very similar. Ford wont do anything about this unless there is a perforation right through. This is clearly related to the paint not being prepped properly. I also had to have the bonnet on this truck painted after 6 months after buying it new because it was blistering behind the edge of the grill. I had a guy at Ford tell me on the QT that some people are drilling holes in the problem area and letting it rust to get around Fords policy and fix it. I didnt want to do this so I talked to the dealer, contacted national reps from the US and Canada on this forum.... Big fat nothing.So... after 24 straight years of driving nothing but Ford trucks my new Ram will be here on Friday. IMO Fords quality has gone down and their policy on paint sucks. Sour grapes, you bet!!! Please reply if you have paint problems. I think this is a widespread problem Ford should be dealing with. Get out your drills boys if you want this fixed.

Ford’s customer relations call center is not worth the time or effort. We have two Ford Escapes in our family and I drive a Ford Escape as my company car. My company vehicle is still under factory warranty. I had a concern with my company vehicle so I called the customer care phone number, a case number was assigned and I was given a contact number with an extension. When I call the number, I received a recorded message to leave my case number along with a contact phone number and my call would be returned in the next 24 hours. Over the past few weeks I have called this number and left several messages, never received a call back. Calling the Ford Customer Care Center has only added more frustration to an already difficult situation. As it stands right now, I have no intention of ever purchasing another Ford vehicle and am planning on sharing my experience with our company’s fleet manager.

2017 Escape SE, purchased brand new. We are not hard on our cars! Maintain them as required, had a 2010 Escape hybrid that we had for 11 years and loved it. Thats what prompted us to buy another. Any way 30,000 miles engine light comes on then goes out. Starts to idle rough. The next day when I started the car the engine light comes back on and stays on. Call Ford dealer, they said drive it in. I do, they tell me new engine is required. Lucky still under warranty. They said its okay to drive while they get the new engine, since we are in Hawaii everything takes a long time to get things anyway. So they tell me at least a month, but I am figuring on at least 2 months. Time will tell if the engine blows before I get the new one. FRUSTRATING!

2013 E-150 van, 104000 miles -- Number 7 plug blew out. Took to dealer and a week later was fixed. I was told when I picked up the vehicle that the number 7 plug blew and 2 others were about to do the same. Original plugs from factory. $600 later and ready to trade in for Chevy before this happens again.

Thousands of customers have experienced problems with changing spark plugs.
Thousands of customers have experienced problems with changing spark plugs. Changing spark plugs should be a simple maintenance job. Thousands of people including myself have had their spark plugs break and get stuck in the cylinder head. Ford settled a class action suit because of the defective spark plugs, but the majority of those affected by this problem never saw a dime. Now the consumer is stuck footing the bills for what should have been Fords responsibility. Ford charges $600 to change the spark plugs, and if they break, thats considered the customers problem and costs more money. Often the broken plugs cannot be removed and the customer has to buy all new heads. This problem is affecting thousands of Ford owners, who are unknowing about the problem until they are stuck with broken plugs. This should be Fords responsibility to fix, not on the consumer!!!

We have a 2015 Ford Explorer. The paint on the hood is actually bubbling off. We took it to a Ford dealership and spoke with the service manager and he confirmed that it was a defect and that they had seen the issue before. He suggested we contact Ford for resolution and gave us a number to refer to. We contacted Ford and since the car was over the warranty by miles it was not in years. They denied the claim stating it was out of the warranty period. We took it to an auto body shop and they again stated that it is a common issue with Fords because the hood is aluminum and does not hold the paint. We initially brought this up while we were within 1000 miles of the warranty as well as 6 months before the 3 year mark. We cannot believe that a $50,000 vehicle has the paint peeling due to a defect and they refuse to stand behind it. We had purchased the extended warranty but apparently it does not cover the paint. Ford should be ashamed of themselves. This is not a quality product. Last Ford we will purchase!

I have owned my 17 Explorer (with under 15k miles) less than 6 months. Granted, its colder than my first girlfriends heart, but my Explorer wouldnt start. My 17 Chevy Impala (and countless other cars I see driving by me) had no problem. So I call Ford Roadside Assistance at 11am. Yes, Im in the comfort of my home, not stranded on the side of the highway, but... I have ** to do! They said, No problem, busy day, but well have someone there within THREE hours. Ok. I get it. Lots of people in worse shape than me. Three hours comes and goes, no calls, no updates, and most importantly, no Roadside Assistance. I call again. The advisor says I see you called earlier, what can I help you with. I said, Its been three hours, no roadside assistance. He says we have no record that you called. Say what? You knew I called earlier... It wasnt to see how the weather was in ARIZONA! We will send someone, they will be there within THREE HOURS (its now 2pm). Ok. THREE hours later, nada, no calls, no updates, no Roadside Assistance. So I called the local dealership. Yep, they are really busy. Let me call them to see whats going on. Roger. He calls back someone cancelled the dispatch at 4:03pm. Say what? So, the first tow company, the one that never showed up, must have cancelled so it wouldnt show in the system that they would have been, like, FOUR hours late??? By this time (6pm, 7 hours after the initial call) we decided we needed to concentrate on one of our four activities of daily living, eating. After sitting in the driveway for 7 hours on a battery charger, the 6 month old baby decided to turn over. I called the towing company that the dealer dispatched and told them we had had enough for the night, and no longer needed a tow. Today, the day after, we received a call from Ford Roadside Assistance saying that a tow truck is on the way. We called back and said the tow is not necessary. They called again. And again, and again. And again. Five calls either telling us a tow truck is en route or asking if we needed a tow. Pretty disorganized that bunch!

Purchased a new Ford F-150 on 6/27/2015 from HemBorg Ford in Norco, Ca. External fan came on a few times as soon as the truck was started while we moved the truck in and out of our shop and would not shut off unless we turn engine off and restarted truck. On September 1 after picking the truck up from getting the decals the battery light came on. The following day I made a phone call up to our local mechanic to see if he could check out why the battery light was on since they are a half mile from where I lived. Pulled the truck out of the shop and let it run for about 30 minutes while I cleaned it to see if maybe the light was on because the truck had been sitting in the shop. I then got in the truck and drove off. It is about 12 miles from our shop to the local mechanic shop but after getting on the freeway the Sync system notified me. I was going to lose power to some electric powered features or something of that sort. It didnt repeat it. It only said it once so I cant remember exactly. I turned off the radio and air thinking maybe its a low battery issue. A few minutes later all the indicator lights came on and the truck lost power. I looked in my mirror to get over and to my horror I saw smoke pouring out from under the truck out the back. As soon as I pulled over the smoke was coming out from under the hood as well as flames were starting to come out too. I popped the hood and jumped out looking for my fire extinguisher and in panic could locate it. I ran to the front of the truck and tried to unlatch the hood, but the smoke and flames were pouring out. A guy ran up and started with his fire extinguisher, but we couldnt get the flames down enough to get the hood opened. By the time the fire department got there, the front tires caught fire and blew into the field which started a 5-acre fire which did slightly damage some decks on a few homes. The fire dept didnt put any water on the truck because they were trying to save these peoples homes and I watched in horror. The truck and all our equipment burn to the ground. Some people say why didnt we bring it in when the external fan came on but honestly most people would have even noticed it. I know because we own 9 Fords between our business and personal but since the truck was only at our shop and not in service yet it would be brought in before it was ready to go into service the Ford dealer.I would have brought it to was father then my local mechanic so it wouldnt have made it either way. I am beside myself with this. Did the fan keep coming on because the computer was telling the truck something was hot? Why did the battery light come on (I did take a picture of the dash when I was pulling into the shop after we picked it up from getting decals and it shows the light on. Please help.

I have been a Ford truck for for many years. 7.3s 460s, etc. I have been told to stay away from 6.0 Fords. Since my background includes being a Master Auto and Truck Technician. I have been working mainly on customers vehicles. My personal experience started when I was in the market for a parts truck with a 6.0. I bought a theft recovery low miles 2006 F350 Lariat that was ransacked, stripped and ditched off road. I bought it for $2500. After feeling sorry for that poor thing, Ive decided to rebuild it with parts that was just sitting in my possession. After extensive repairing of chopped wiring harnesses, replacing of missing parts and having it recertified and then upgrading with EGR delete, programmer, cooling system low temp modifications, upgraded turbo and servicing with premium fluids. Adding 1 quart of ATF at every fillup. Fast forward 30k miles and 3 yrs of use. This is the best Ford I owned. It even runs better than my 05 Ram 3500 Cummins (48re transmission is nowhere close to the Fords 5r110).

On 12/1/2013, I started my car (2008 Ford Fusion) and it sounded & seemed normal. However, after driving less than 2 miles, my engine suddenly decelerated and the RPMs dropped dramatically. I tried to accelerate and it would not increase speed. I was able to get off the road safely. I had to have my car towed. The mechanic determined that the problem was due to a faulty power train control module which impacts the ignition coils and the estimated cost of repair is $2100! One of my ignition coils was melted. Ford has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (which suggests replacing the power train control module & all 6 ignition coils) on this issue; however, they do not deem this a safety issue! Cars that just stop running or decelerate quickly is most definitely a safety issue. I can think of many scenarios where this issue could cause injury or perhaps even death. Had I been on a freeway or driving at a greater speed where there was more traffic, I could certainly have ended up in an accident with another vehicle. I researched this concern and found that I am not alone and there have many others affected by the same exact situation. Ford is of the opinion that this should be the responsibility of the car owner and they do not hold themselves accountable. I understand how warranties work and I realize that cars age. However, this issue has nothing to do with wear and tear or age. This is a faulty piece of equipment that is causing a safety issue when it hampers a vehicles ability to continue in a forward motion at a normal rate of speed. Ford Motor Company should issue a safety recall...not just a technical service bulletin.

My Ford F150 Supercrew 5.4 had #3 at #7 blow out. I had a mechanic put one back in with a Helicoil for $50.00 and the other I bought a kit at OReilly, which they have 2 types, one for $30.00 the other for $60.00. I had a mechanic put it in for $45.00. They probably knew about that the heads were no good just like the tires they sold several years back. It would cost them a lot to destroy the heads and make new ones.

On Oct 2010, my truck was parked and half hour later burst into flames. I have been run around by Ford for a year. I am now going to sue Ford after a year of being given the run around. It is clear it was caused by the cruise control switch. The truck is a 2002 Harley Davidson that was always maintained.
