Back in January 2015 I received a solicitation to end my current BMW lease on a 640GC six month a head of time, so they can secure my lease with BMW again (I have been leasing BMWs for 15 years now). After some shopping around, I have found a new 2015 M3. The dealership took my 640 and all was paid. Today (May 2015), BMW called to say that I owe over $900 for wear and tear (tow tires and a missing key that I returned).

Loved this car when I bought it a couple of years back. Maybe I got ripped on the service costs a bit but needed a battery pretty early on which ran me about $250, needed tires and brakes 2 summers ago ($1300), then needed an alternator and valve cover gasket replacement about 2 months ago ($1700). Three days later check engine light is back on, oil dripping under the car and it smells like burnt oil again- take it back to shop (indy not BMW) hoping valve cover gasket failed or was installed improperly and lo and behold they want another $1300 to replace the oil pan gasket. Could be the oil filter gasket but at this point its just too much. Ive had Hondas, Infinitis, Chryslers, Nissans, etc. and have never had this much trouble with a vehicle. Some of it is definitely bad luck but this is the worst vehicle experience Ive ever had. Dont get me wrong, the car is awesome but I cant keep the check engine light off enough to enjoy driving it. Its really not even the money at this point, I just cant keep it out of the shop and its not really reliable anymore. I would be afraid to take it on a long trip which is a shame. Actually looking to trade this in on an Infiniti G37x.

I bought my R1100RT brand new in Oct., 2000. i rode her daily back and forth on Los Angeles freeways for a year. I put 31,000 on her during first year. She handled very well in rough traffic: stops on a dime and has the ability to power you out of tight spots like a rocket if need be. I rode her recreationally over the next couple of years, and due to knee surgery, I had to park her in my garage over the 2003-2004 time period. Occasional starts during 2005 ended with a dead battery, and her sitting quietly in my garage until the spring of 2012 (yes 7 years). I FINALLY put a new battery in her and she started up with a chug, until I put fresh gas in her. She rode like a champ and I had her serviced within a week. I've put almost 800 miles on her in the first two weeks of bringing her back to life and she hasn't missed a beat. I was thinking about trading her in for a new R1200RT, but after riding her and enjoying the looks of onlookers, I don't think I could ever get rid of her. This is one great machine built by one great company. If you have one; keep it.

I have purchased 3 consecutive BMWs. I love the brand. Ive had my most recent vehicle for 3 months, a 535i, and its a great car. I noticed that one of my door handle trim pieces was missing and the other was loose. I looked for damage and there wasnt any. I went to the dealer and they were very helpful and accommodating. They took pictures, took notice of there not being any damage, and they said they would contact BMW on my behalf. A few days later the dealer called me to let me know that BMW would not offer assistance. The resolution they suggested is that I purchase new door handles plus the cost of programming comfort access because the trim pieces are not sold separately. ($500+ Per Handle.)After, I have spoken to BMW independent of the dealer and they are asking for more pictures. I dont understand this since they already have them. I conclude that the trim pieces have fallen off due to a problem with the adhesive not performing to specs (The trim piece itself is made of plastic with tape strip on the inner side). I am very disappointed that as a loyal customer, I would be dismissed in this fashion. I just spent over $60k for this vehicle.

I have been having a problem with my car since I bought it brand new. First
I have been having a problem with my car since I bought it brand new. First incident occurred a week after buying my car at Sandton Auto. I had a problem with my brake pads. They were very noisy and couldn’t brake properly and got to a point where they had to be change within less than a month of buying a brand new car. After that, everything else was wrong in that car. Just after 2 months it started to have this noise in front - could be in the engine, I don’t know. I had to go home (Eastern Cape) so I couldn’t bring the car in. When I came back, I took my car to Zambezi Auto as I am closer to that side. They tried to fix it saying that it’s the cables going to or from the fan. All those cables were changed and my car was there for about 2 to 3 days.I went to collect the car and just before I got home the same day, the noise was still there. I called them and told them that what they did didn’t help even one bit. They arranged for me to bring back the car the following day. And mind you, that this is my only car, I just cannot afford to be taking it in where I can’t even get a loan car or any kind of assistance in terms of transport to and from work. My car spends another good 3 days there with them changing some other cables as well and re-gasing the fan or air-con. Then I went to collect my car again and the problem was still there. The noise was so loud that even people at the robot would turn heads. I told the dealer again that the problem was not fixed. This time around the cables inside my car were hanging around on the passenger sit side where I had to tuck them in. This is a new BMW car for God’s sake.I had to travel to Swaziland, so I was away for a month. When I came back, I had a tire bust and my car was towed to Menlyn Auto. Then, I told them as well about the problem. They looked at it as well and tried to fix it, but no luck. They said there was a new part that was needed and ordered it. And again I had to be car-less for more than a week. They did a test drive and told me that unfortunately the noise is still there and there is something else they have to do. Again, they chopped and changed whatever it was, but still the first day of me collecting the car the noise was there.I called them and told them as well, but nothing happened. I decided to bring it to the dealer I bought it from, which is Sandton Auto. I came with my problem and explained to the manager the whole story and the fact that if I bring my car in, I will need a loan car (which I was promised to get but didn’t). Then my car was booked in (this is the fourth time now in a dealer with the same problem). It stayed about 3 days because they had to keep the car in for testing in the morning to see exactly what could be wrong. They changed something as well and also when I went to collect the car, the noise was there before I could even get to the robot near them. I called them again and told them that whatever they did, it didn’t work because now the noise is getting worse. They booked the car again for the following week. I took my car there again to spend 2 days without a car and having to use public transport because no one could help. It stayed there again and they fixed few things, but still no luck. This time they even changed the entire computer system and this car was even giving false alarm warnings. This is what they told me and they didn’t know why because when they check the key, there was nothing. They also picked up that my PDC was loose (this confused me a lot). I went to them and spoke to the manager of the people fixing the cars, let him hear the noise I was talking about and he told me, Oh, that is a piece of cake. I can fix that easy.” This I couldn’t understand as he was the first person who was called to look at the car the first time it went to them. Now, this is the third time in Sandton Auto. The car was booked in for about 3 days now.The car went in, the system was changed, cables we replaced (now this feels like a second hand car) and everything else that could lead to this kind of problem was looked at by different BMW specialists. So more problems came out: 1. The speakers were damaged. I can’t even listen to proper music without the speaker kicking or vibrating or squeaking. 2. The car is vibrating now (and they did pick this up and said they will look at it). 3. I told them that the car sometimes doesn’t start, it just keeps quiet for a while. And this was looked at. Again, I had to leave my car there till the morning so that they can try and start it in the morning for testing (no loan car). 4. The brake pad’s noise is back (and the car was just serviced).5. The noise is worse than ever.I spoke to one of the employees there. She told me that this is a problem that they are experiencing in all BMWs. And she told me that BMW SA is aware of this problem. Most of the 320 I have this problem and there was a call out by BMW SA to change the fan belt to something else (can’t remember what). And she even told me about her own experience as she was at the robot and she heard this car (BMW) parked next to her with the same loud noise. So after that time I was told that they have to order a new fan for my car and change the entire fan system. This one was a masterpiece. I was asked where I bought the car by someone who was helping me there. I told them that I bought the car there by them and according to me the car was brand new. The reason why he asked this was because the car didn’t look like it was new and the PDC was not a BMW PDC. Wow - that’s what I said. I just said, “Wow.”This was a shock and I am asking myself lots of questions: 1. Could this be an old BMW car? 2. Is it possible that someone sold me a car that was a second hand? 3. Is it possible that this BMW car with these kinds of problems could be a demo or something?Really looking at it: is this possible? So right now I am still waiting for a call (which I don’t think I will get as it’s been 2 weeks already) for the fan and an explanation on the PDC. And right now the PDC is faulty for real. It beeps when you are too close to something. I really don’t know what to do in this situation. I don’t feel like I am driving a new car at all. As I travel a lot, I’m afraid that my car will soon be in 100,000 km where I won’t have the privilege of just taking the car in. I don’t have time to leave my car with the dealer anymore as I have proven that this problem cannot be fixed. I am tired of complaining and being stranded in terms of transport and worrying if this beautiful BMW 320 M Sport car cannot just stop in the middle of the road. Can someone out there help me, please?

Ive purchased 4 and the current 550 will be the last. The transmission problem has been classified by BMW engineers as a characteristic of the car. Should someone that pays $68,000 be expected to accept a car that bogs down when passing? Brakes, rotors and pads replaced at 12k miles, right ignition coils, seat is broke, steer wheel leader coming off, USB connection blows the fuse when used and get ready to buy lots of tires. Dont even waste your time calling their executive center. $250k spent on their cars and they will not get a dime more. Pitiful they will not stand behind their product.

Would not waste your time on this overpriced garbage unless you have money to burn and time to waste! Avoid BMW like the plague! Customer service is the pits! I bought their product and have had a very big problem with the jack lift that they provided me with to change the tires on the car. This jack is very insufficient, the reason being that when I jacked up the car to change a tire on it, the jack collapsed and let the car fall without the tire on the axle. This has happened twice already one time the jack collapsed and the car smashed my wrist and severely hurt it. Furthermore, since the jack collapsed, it wedged beneath the car and scratched up the bottom of the vehicle. I feel that this is very unacceptable since BMW is supposed to be a quality car. I hope the company gives this complaint notice and strives to improve the quality of the jack that is provided with the car. I can no longer use the jack they have provided me with because I do not want to risk further damage to both myself and my vehicle. I hope you consider sending me a new one. Thank you very much for your time.

I took my BMW 328i with 48,000 miles in to the BMW Birmingham service department on a Friday afternoon for a new battery. I was told by the service advisor that it needed coils, a new belt, belt tensioner, and some type of “boot” due to an oil leak. They quoted my over $2,000 for the repair. I told them I could not afford that much unexpected repair work and agreed to the battery and coils, which they said were a minimum to get the vehicle running properly at a cost of about $1,250. I also told them that my 16-year-old daughter drives the vehicle to school (around 5-10 miles a day) and that I was having it repaired because she wanted to drive it to a school dance the following day. 10 days later and less than 100 miles following the $1,250 repair, the vehicle was towed to the private garage of a retired BMW technician due to a coolant leak. After he inspected the vehicle, he told me that there was nothing wrong other than the radiator hose clamp had been removed and slid down the hose at the heater core. This could be seen easily by a BMW technician. He repaired the vehicle by reconnecting the hose/hose clamp and replacing the coolant.I called Birmingham BMW 6 times without a return call over a 10 day period and went by the dealership in-person once to speak with them about my issue and no one would talk with me. When I asked to speak with a manager and for a business card for the manager I was told that everyone was in a meeting and that they did not give out business cards. I persisted for a contact in writing for management and the wrote a name and number on a post-it note.I shared this with BMW of North America and asked for help contacting the dealership. I received a call from a service advisor the following day, who proceeded to make excuses when I shared my concerns then he transferred me to a service manager who acted in disbelief when I told him what happened to me. I shared my concern that the service department was pushy about the need for service with urgency to do it quickly before something broke and rendered the car undriveable. I question this culture within the dealership and asked the service manager how a technician could miss something as obvious as a clamp that had been disconnected and slid down the hose? I was told that the technician would not see an issue with the cooling system since he was working on the battery/coil pack/electrical system. To which I replied, then how did they find issues related to an oil leak and the belt and belt tensioner? And they had no response other than they would check into it. I have had no further response and feel that I cannot trust BMW Birmingham, Alabama to service my vehicle.

I bought a new 2013 BMW 328xi and at 17,000 kilometers I experienced shuddering when braking. Upon further inspection I was told my brake rotors were rusted grooved badly. Contacted my BMW dealer, and he promptly told me that brakes are not warranted, and it would cost $900 to replace them. There was very little wear on the pads or rotors - I questioned why I would replace them with BMW brakes, as the first set rusted out in only 17,000 kms???? And the new ones were NOT warrantied also!!!!!BMW head office in Germany emailed me that you must dry off your rotors after theyre wet!!!!!! My local service place laughed and said that that was almost impossible short of taking all the wheels off!!!!!! Normally car companies do not warrant brakes because they are considered a wear item, which makes sense, but mine were NOT worn! I replaced the rotors and pads with aftermarket ones that WERE warranted and would not rust! I am now taking BMW to court to get my $900 back. BMW were not even interested in finding out what conditions would cause the brakes on a $60,000 car would rust out before the FIRST oil change was even due. Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem.

Bridgewater, NJ said they can not take the X128i we are leasing (and 3 years of full lease has been completed) becuase of Murphys Executive order to keep NJ safe (duing the COVID period). However, when I called the BMW Financial Services, they said we need to make the payment to keep the car. How is that fair by BMW? The car is not even driven at all for last 6 weeks.I am ready to return the car and toally understand that only essestial businesses needs to be open, but here is a company who wants to make full use of the situtation of charging the customers. Very very dissappoiting in BMW and surely I am not the only one who has been forced to do so. This was my 3rd BMW and never going back to this company.

I have a 2007 BMW 335i that I bought from a BMW dealer. The car is a CPO car. I have had a constant problem with the car burning oil. It uses about a quart of oil every 750 miles. I took the car into the dealer when I realized that there was indeed a problem. Their course of action was to do an oil study. What that meant was that I had to take it back to the dealer every time that the oil warning indicator went off, and that they would verify that the car had a problem. After many trips and quite a few hours sitting at The BMW Dealer, they did verify that the car was indeed using a lot of oil.On two occasions they kept the car for a few days to check it out. They said that they could find anything wrong with the car. I contacted BMW North America on their website, and they came back, telling me that 750 miles per quart was normal. Since then my CPO warranty has gone out, and I am stuck with this problem. On the plus side, the car is a lot of fun to drive. This has been a bad experience for me. I have had the car in the shop once since then. More problems, amounting to a $1,000.00 repair bill for what should have been minor things. I will never buy another BMW and cannot recommend them to anyone else. I also have a Lexus - five years old and ZERO problems. I would love to hear from anyone else that has had oil issues.

As an adult, I bought my first Honda in 2005. It was a brand new top of the line Honda Accord. Since I purchased it I had many issues but Honda fixed it once I was put in contact with the regional manger by giving me a brand new 2008 Honda Accord that matched the one I had purchased in 2005. I only mention that before I begin my story regarding the purchase of the two BMWs that have been a NIGHTMARE.My history with BMW is very lengthy but I am going to try and condense the issues to keep it simple. As a child always dreamt of owning a BMW, and once I was financially able to do so I went ahead and invested in what I thought was the Ultimate Driving Machine. So my childhood dream is and has been nothing less than a Horror Story. In 2010 I purchased a Brand New 2010 X5 with 10 miles on the odometer. I was thrilled to say the least. I didnt have the car 3 weeks before there was a Jack Hammer sound coming from the vehicle, took it to the nearest BMW dealer and was told that a screw came out the bottom and the pan was loose underneath. Soon after that, I kept taking it in because of a pungent Sulfur Smell, unlike a Rotten Egg smell, that is usually due to the catalytic converter, which was of the issues I had with my Honda. The dealer then proceeds to take out the mats in the front and back and actually cut out part of the floor mats and replaced it with some other material and told me that was the reason for the smell. Well that was not the reason because the smell never went away.Keep in mind that this smell was emitting since I initially bought the car. Moving forward, I made enough complaints to BMW NA and finally got them to send an Engineer to take the car apart and see what the problem could possibly be. After being given the runaround by the first so called Specialist, I received a call from her Supervisor, after making numerous complaints, and he was rude and very disrespectful. He told me that the reason why the smell was emitting from my car was because I kept laundry detergents in the trunk and there were traces of tobacco in the car. Now first of all thats a bunch of BS and secondly the smell was strong when the car was new, so how do you explain that. He was so rude and disrespectful in the way he spoke to me, he even hung up the phone on me. It was not a disconnection, it was a direct hang up.I have been hospitalized 3 times for 5 days or more for internal pain in my stomach and the Drs. could not find any reason why I was in such pain and constantly throwing up. I kept telling them that I was constantly ingesting a pungent sulfur smell from the car. My hematologist finally said that I may have been getting ill because of the smell. The car has been in and out the shop for so many things, burnt out internal light from rear passenger mirror, water in the panel where the back light, check engine light, car not accelerating, and then taking off like a jet, almost causing several accidents. The list goes on and on. In December of 2013 in the height of Christmas shopping season when the traffic is heavy and thick, I finally had enough of the BS when the car totally just stopped in the middle of the highway, while cars and tractor trailers almost slammed into me about 5 times, because the car would not drive more than 20 miles an hour. The story goes further than that. But now I was sort of in duress and since they werent trying to acknowledge that they sold me a lemon that has jeopardized me and my family since I bought it, I figured I would get rid of that and buy a CPO just in order to not fight any longer or lose any equity that I had already invested. WHAT A MISTAKE. Vehicle #2 is a 2012 CPO X5 that I got in December of 2013 that has been in the shop more than 10 times and has been there for over a week now as I write this letter.I wrote everyone in BMW, even the owner, his secretary, his Press Secretary and his Assistant. Till this very day, I have not even received an Acknowledgement that they even received my letter. But I know they did because I got a confirmation that it was received. So, although their information is hard to get over the internet, I did my research and got it. So if anyone needs the Email to the President of BMW and his team, you can email me and I will gladly provide it to you.Bottom Line, like many people have stated here, BMW is not living up to their Brand and they need to acknowledge everyones investment into their Brand, not just the elite or a chosen few. As the saying goes: Hey You Never Know and I say this to any BMW executive that you never ever know who you are dealing with no matter how big or small. Its the little people that make the big people. Remember that.

I am the sole owner of a 2007 BMW X-3. I have had my car serviced at South BMW in Miami, FL. I have owned this car continuously since 2007. I was to be a loyal BMW owner until a recent discovery. The right rear motor mount bracket screws (the four bolts broke off), the engine is not sitting properly and the transmission is making a discernible noise. I only drive on city streets and highways. I am not an off-road driver and this vehicle has not been involved in any type of accident. The BMW warranty covered my vehicle to 50,000 miles. I did not purchase the extended warranty (maintenance warranty offered by the dealership) as it covered nothing. I am afraid that the engine will fall out of the vehicle, causing bodily injury or maybe even a fatality. I noticed that you already have one complaint about this same issue. Please help me. I am not asking for you to replace my vehicle, just fix it to where I can drive it again without fear.

Bought myself a new car, very exciting right? WRONG! Not if its a BMW! I bought this car less than 30k miles, 2014. This Friday will be my 3rd time taking it to the shop in less than a month. Its still under warranty, but now Im seeing signs, as I did with my Pontiac Firebird money pit. Feels like something is wrong with the mass air flow, tranny, parking lamp malfunction, now check engine light is on. Whats next??? Idk anyone who is taking their car in every week on their day off. Contacting Carmax and my creditor to check out other options. Honda and Toyota here I come! BMW IS RUNNING A RACKET!!!

I have never had a worse experience in purchasing a new car than from Schom
I have never had a worse experience in purchasing a new car than from Schomp BMW (Highlands Ranch, CO). Sales people were warm and friendly but management and the quality of the car was terrible. The day I took the car off the lot, check engine light came on. Called my sales rep and he asked me to bring the car in to get it reviewed and fixed. Two weeks later, I got the car back. One week after that, engine light came on, yet again. Same as before, waited two weeks to get the car back. I was hoping this was the end of it. One day later, check engine light. At this point, I was incredibly frustrated and concerned that I bought a lemon given its been in the shop 3 times with less than 400 miles on the car.Asked Schomp BMW to provide an extended warranty given how many times I had to bring it back into the shop for repairs. Management was willing to look into the warranty and mentioned they would go to bat for me. They also asked if I would be willing to pay another $1K for the warranty if needed and wanted to manage expectations. I said absolutely not given the number of issues I have had with the brand new car. They called me back a couple days later and said they could provide the warranty if I pay $2K. Thats double what they initially told me! You dont set the anchor price in one conversation and then double it in another. Thats Sales 101.I ended up giving the car back to Schomp and getting a refund. Its a bummer. I really liked the car and was also working with the Sales rep on purchasing another vehicle. They are playing the short game and lost a long-term customer as I will never buy a BWM or another car from a Schomp dealership. What a terrible experience.

I own a certified BMW 335d. In June of 2015 the check engine light went on for the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Tank malfunctioning. This is a device that is needed to make the car USA emissions compliant. I was told by my dealer that the part was on back order for 2 weeks and to continue to drive the car. After 2 months I decided to call BMW Customer care to let them know I needed to register my car in California in October and it needed to pass a smog check. With the check engine light it will not pass, thus making my car fall out of registration. They told me they would help me. After numerous promised dates for the part to fix my car, they told me mine was on top priority and I would get the next one in from Germany. I spoke with my dealer and they told me that since my part was ordered, they received 5 at their dealership that went to other clients that were ahead of me on the list. Their cars did not have the same registration issue as mine, so the priority for those cars to get fixed should be lower. I was not told the truth by BMW of North America. The next one is plain and simple--the next one. BMW of North America is saying it is the field representative that is responsible for the dates and the dealer is telling me it is BMW N.A. Bottom line is they lied to me that I was on top priority and they are giving me the runaround. As of today I am stuck with a car I was told to drive that is now out of registration. Its really nice to make car payments that you cannot drive. BMW absolutely does not care about the customer and they are trained to give customers false answers. They are quite rude on the phone as well. They say I understand, when they really dont care and want to get you off the phone. The customer care department has no real information and they are just put there as a facade. It comes with great pain to say this as the cars themselves are really great cars, but DO NOT BUY A BMW. Great cars, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

My transmission needed a $3000 part which had been replaced less than 2 yea
My transmission needed a $3000 part which had been replaced less than 2 years earlier near San Diego, CA. BMWs warranty for parts purchased from their dealerships has a 2-year part and labor warranty. The part was replaced at Ontario BMW (now Penske) of Southern California under warranty free as confirmed by the customer service manager named Gary at Ontario BMW. And after the repair in a very unexpected manner, the BMW reps at BMW of North America rejected the repair because the repair was not done at the San Diego BMW dealer where the original repair was performed. The possible caveat that the transmission parts be replaced at the original part of service was never mentioned to me by any of BMWs official agents and representatives. The car is now fixed. And because it was not done in the original dealership in San Diego, they literally want to dismantle my BMWs transmission (basically redamage it) and make me pay for towing to San Diego to redo the repair. Not only does this make no financial $$ sense for me or even for BMWs own dealership, but its a poor and senseless, useless decision that violates BMWs own warranty policies. Please intervene and quickly shut this case in our favor since my request is beneficial for all sides involved. The warranty was honored as stated by BMWs agents and since no one at BMW knew of this hidden caveat, it makes no sense since my BMW broke down in Ontario, California. Thanks!

My wife bought a used BMW X3 2014 with about 35M miles on it. After a couple oil changes and 42M miles the engine had a drivetrain fault and BMW said it was a computer issue and we needed to pay to update our program. A month later we got another drivetrain malfunction fault but this time the oil pump quit on the way to the dealership and the engine seized up. BMW insists this is not their fault and they have no liability.

2012 X6. Has used oil since approximately 6 months after purchase. Smokes. Smells. Oil stains all around tail pipes on paint. Has used 6 quarts of oil in less than 5000 miles. Engine overheats. Engine shuts down to reduced power mode with no warning. Has been at Moses BMW essentially since Nov 2014. Replaced fuel pump, water pump, hoses, sensors, lines, injectors, battery, vacuum system, engine cover, engine partitions, you name it and still limping and smoking. RPMs even go down when I give it gas. This X6 as well as my previous one have given me nightmares since 2009. BMW and its authorized service are horrible. They are not reliable! They are dangerous! They are selling defective products that are dangerous and refuse to even talk to the people who they are obligated to under their warranties.

I will never buy a BMW again. Overpriced and the quality is not present anywhere. Difficult to upkeep and customer service is nearly nonexistent at dealership AND corporate level. I bought a 320i and was so excited to run around with the BMW logo - until realized the logo was ALL I was getting. The car is subpar to my old Geo Metro from the 90s I had as a kid. NOT EXAGGERATING. As the first owner and the car is ONLY A YEAR OLD, it shouldnt have all the problems its been having. I had to buy new tires (yes, that quickly) because they come with run flats which go bald quickly. To boot, I couldnt have my usual family friend replace them because I needed some special BMW tire bolt remover to get them off. Took forever to get this bolt remover because it didnt come with the car and I ended up missing a weekend trip because I felt unsafe driving on bald tires.Engine stalls sometimes when first starting car in the a.m., door lock mechanism has broken a few times, and most of all: The car terrifies me on curvy roads on the freeway (cant have full control of the steering wheel during high speed curves on the freeway). I am terrified Im going to die in this car - Ive gone back to the dealer multiple times to tell them the steering wheel sticks on high speed turns and they only tell me they cant find the problem - because they arent looking for it!!! They just want my money and care less about fixing this car under the warranty. And I cant afford to get another car while saddled with this one or ruin my credit by dumping it because Im trying to buy a house. So I just avoid going far in this car or rent vehicles when I need to drive long distance. Ridiculous. But wait! Theres more! Every time I go make a payment online, the website is down or Im being asked to authenticate my same device I always use. Beyond annoying. I have to call customer service to pay, which is always a 20 min wait because their site never works. So EVERYONE is calling in and I go thru that EVERY MONTH just to pay my hard earned money for a car Im scared to drive! It has been a complete nightmare owning this car and BMW doesnt care. I have told my family if I die on any curvy roads to have the steering issue looked into and sue the daylights out of them. DO NOT BUY A BMW!

I bought a certified pre-owned 2007 X3 in 2009, which luckily means I have a warranty till 2013. When I bought it in May 2009, it had the service engine light on and dealer tells me its due service and will do it the week after. Ever since, the light keeps coming up every 2 months, and the dealer takes a week to do something. Then he tells me that they do whatever BMW tells them to do and gives it back saying that the problem has been resolved. So far, I have had at least ten such trips. The last two trips are taking much longer. The last trip took 19 days about month and half ago. I went in again on Nov 28th and it is still being looked at. The dealer has provided me a loaner car so I dont have a major hassle as a result. But it is amazing that this supposedly superior engineering company cannot figure out after so many tries why the stupid light comes on. Can any one really trust their advanced systems like iDrive and so on to actually work? Is BMW more of a superior marketing engine as opposed to a superior engineering company? The evidence suggests that they are definitely a superior marketing company.

We purchased a 2005 BMW X3 in 2007 to be my wifes car. It had 22,000 miles, not bad. While its styled nicely, also with ample room for an SUV and it handles nicely, it has been a mechanical nightmare. Its our first BMW and I assumed it would be reliable and be of high quality. WRONG. It was OK for a couple years of use, up to 35,000 miles, but since then, its been one expensive repair after another. Things that SHOULDNT break in a relatively low-mileage automobile. First, it was the liftshocks that raise the back tailgate. It would drop down on your head if you didnt keep one hand holding up while unloading groceries, etc. I was able to do that repair myself with new shocks. Next, it was the back passenger window mechanism in which a plastic piece along the ridebar broke. No one was messing with the window. There was no abuse, just my wife lowering the window to bring in air. Of course, the plastic piece is part of a whole motorized ridebar/lift assembly and in order to fix (only a dealer has the parts, btw) cost $575! Ridiculous. Next, a cracked intake manifold, along with several other parts (faulty PCV valve, breather hose, vent valve) that required replacement. Cost: $1,500! This last October, it was a leaky oil pan and oil filter housing, $450! Finally, about six months ago, four lights appeared on the dashboard, AWD, brakes, I forget the other two. Well, theyre all related to the same thing: a small motor beneath the drivers side undercarriage that distributes torque to the four tires independently, thus AWD. Great concept, BUT NOT IF THE GEARS INSIDE THE MOTOR WEAR OUT which is exactly what happened. The car had about 51,000 miles when this occurred. The motor is inside a housing about the size of a football. The motor cost $1,800, plus $1,200 labor, grand total of $3,000! The labor is high because numerous things have to be removed under the car to get at, and replace, the AWD motor. Well, we have to wait to get this last fixed, but I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER BMW AGAIN, EVER!! I could understand one fluke, one faulty part, but this has become an awful financial burden for us. My Toyota, on the other hand, has 74,000 miles and never a problem! Only basic maintenance: oil, tires, brakes... So you figure it out, which is the better vehicle?

This has been the worst car I ever purchased (2000 BMW 323ci). The water pump has been replaced three times in five years. This is so unacceptable for a so-called “world-class” automobile. Every imaginable problem that could go wrong with this car, I have experienced… of course the standard… brake pads, clutch, hoses, etc. Those things are to be expected after a certain length of time. However, the same part ... You asked yourself, “Is it the mechanic? Was it the part?” Well, on 2 occasions, repairs were BMW authorized. Three were actual BMW dealerships. This car has cost me more than my sons college education, however, to BMW North Americas credit. I had a lovely lady named Medidah to help me with my sensor board. I had to pay labor which was ok; at least, someone cared and assisted. I wish I could afford another car, which I cant unfortunately. This car is paid off. My first new car (ever) I purchased. I was so happy to save money. I ordered exactly what I wanted. I paid it off in 3 years. Next car will be my Honda or Toyota, which I have owned previously. Both were great, inexpensive to maintain, and lasted long time. I shall never, ever purchase another BMW, even if I do love the x5 :(

I purchased a 2009 BMW 238i and on Sep 30 2011, I took it to get an oil change. I dropped it off, got a loner, and went to work. Before I dropped it off that morning, the car ran great, it had no ticking, no engine lights nor loss of power. I hadnt heard from BMW so I called them, they said that they had talked to BMW NA and I need to agree to them removing my valve cover, at my expense of $700. I said that I only wanted an oil change. He told me they terminated my warranty. My warranty was for 4years/50,000 miles, it had not expired. I was very upset and made multiple attempts to call BMW NA and the supervisor told me that they would have to go with what the service center said and there was no one else to talk to. Disappointed, I picked my car up.The check engine light came on and while I was on the highway, the car made some loud ticking noises and the car seemed to be experiencing some power loss, in the mist of high traffic. I was in the middle lane when it started, and I immediately got over to get off the highway. And as I pulled off the highway, the car suddenly shut off (no power). I barely made it off the road. It just shut off. I had to call for a tow. That weekend, the car cranked up and it seemed to be nothing wrong. I took it around the block to see if it was okay. The ticking returned and the car shut off again and I had to coast it off the road onto church grounds and call a tow truck again. And now it will not crank at all. This is my only car and I have to rent a car. I did some research online and found several recalls, for example: BMW High-Pressure Fuel Pump Voluntary Emissions Recall and Voluntary Emissions and Safety Recalls, and tons of complaints about safety and how BMW terminates a lot of peoples warranties prior to their expiration date. BMW seems to be putting all of our lives at risk and terminating warranties at will.

The following summer in 90° weather same situation after a few hours of driving air-conditioning stopped. Brought it to a different dealership, problem was fixed, it was not. Currently two weeks ago in June, driving back from the Jersey shore and 98° weather I stopped at a rest stop and left my daughter and my dog in the car. When I came back I found that the air conditioner had stopped, my daughter who has down syndrome, my dog suffered mild heatstroke. Contacted Bmw multiple times. They tell me that nothing is wrong with the car. And have yet to buy me out of my lease. So worst company ever, this car is a lemon. There’s nothing but problems with these BMWs. Cairo BMW service center informed me that the coolant has to be replaced. Im wondering that an expensive car manufactured by reputable company, an important part gets faulty within 3 years after 42,000 km which is not happening in cheap cars. The problem is not only the cost of replacement but what hurts me is driving long way in sandy and hot weather with no AC and the cost of renting a car while my BMW is being fixed. This makes me hesitant to depend on my BMW car again, although it is not the case with BMW brand name. Please advise what to do. Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

The remote key on my 2006 330xi stopped working and would not unlock the car. Once inside the car, I tried the central unlocking button on the dash. It locked the driver’s side door but did not control any of the other doors. Before leaving the car again, I therefore pushed down the lock buttons on the passenger and rear doors. At this point when I tried to open any of the 4 doors from inside the car using the door handles, they did not open. None of the car doors would open from inside the car. This is a frightening and potentially, a very dangerous defect in the cars design. BMW of NA will not acknowledge this as a defect or a safety issue. I explained to Ms Jodi ** that my experiences with BMW technicians that either rigged or did not properly repaired my vehicle. After not being satisfied with case managers decision, I requested to speak to the department manager, and it was denied. Ms. Jodi ** just simply told me that she was fully capable of making a decision and would not forward me/my contact information to the upper management because they are there for administrative purposes only! Now, being a member of an administrative e system myself, Im sure that Ms. **s supervisor is not aware of her management style/behavior.I have a BMW X5(4.4) that windows frequently fail/collapse since its purchase, without warning. The factory warranty on my 2007 335i convertible expired on June 2, 2011. On May 31, 2011, I took my vehicle to Bloomfield BMW, because the radio would intermittently go off by itself and would not come back on for approximately 15-20 minutes. The dealer was not able to duplicate the problem at that time and no repairs were made. I also reported that there was a squeaking noise coming from the front wheels as well as an unbalanced ride. The dealership provided me with the same diagnosis for this issue. I have in my possession the invoice provided by the dealership during this visit which clearly lists my reports of these specific issues. When my vehicles factory warranty expired 2 days after my visit, I purchased the extended warranty for $1400 from BMW. A few months later, I brought my car in again with the same complaints and received the same resolution. On May 30, 2012, I took my vehicle to BMW of Morristown and reported these same issues. After diagnosing my vehicle, they determined that the entertainment computer was going bad which cost approximately $1300 to repair. It was also determined that the squeaking noise from the front end was being caused by the bushings on the control arms which cost approximately $800 to repair. I was advised by the service agent that these issues are not covered by the extended BMW warranty. I explained that I reported the issues prior to the expiration of my factory warranty. I was given a number to BMW North America customer relations department for escalation. I contacted them immediately. I provided a copy of the invoice documentation that shows my complaints were made during the period of the factory warranty. One week later, I received a follow-up call to notify me that BMW would not honor the repairs because they were not able to duplicate the problem while the warranty was valid (even though I reported it). My request for an additional escalation path was denied by Nick (Customer Service Manager), because according to him, he was the highest level. I requested the physical street address for the corporate office in NJ, in which I was also denied. I am very upset at how BMW decided to conduct business regarding my claim. I would like some direction on what I can do to hold them accountable for these repairs.

I purchased my 2013 BMW 328i in 2015. The car has about 46.000 miles on it, and it is just out of warranty. The check engine light went on. I took it to Stevens Creek BMW for repair. After they did the diagnosis, they texted me I need new NVLD pump. I confirmed with them that it is $546 including parts and labor. However, when I came to pick up the car, they charged me $761.89. They told me the additional $215.89 was diagnosis fee. I was wondering why the dealer charge diagnosis fee. Isnt that diagnosis part of the repair procedure. I paid the full amount anyway.I took my car and went on the freeway for couple miles. The check engine light came back on again. I assumed that they didnt test drive after the repair. I ended up to take my car back to the dealer the next day. They did another diagnosis and found a different problem. It was fuel tank venting valve. This time the problem seems fixed. I think I shouldnt pay for the diagnosis fee because I let them repair in same dealership. They didnt told me there were diagnosis fee prior to my authorization of repair. Second, I paid $190 for the fault repair pump which the fuel tank venting valve shouldnt cost that much. My suggestion is that you want to make sure what is total amount you have to pay... So I replaced them, cost me $850 for parts alone plus labor. My mechanic also pointed out it needed lower ball joints and front control arms so I brought it back to the dealer and raised hell, How can you sell me a vehicle with all these problems? They sold me a piece of junk. They sold it to me for $16000 less my trade. I laid out 8402 dollars for the balance due. They are now fixing the vehicle and called me today to let me know they ordered air bag parts. They wont be in until Thursday. Also, I gave them a list of all the problems that have to be fixed. The drivers door has a rattle in it and closes sloppy. The front end is shot. They gave me loaner car while I wait till they fix it. They sold me a lemon.

I paid for a platinum extended warranty on my 2008 BMW X5 to extend coverage to 7 years or 100,000 miles. I did so because of the numerous major problems I had with the vehicle after initial purchase. During a routine service at Freehold BMW in NJ, I was told that I needed thrust bushings replaced at a cost of over $1,000. When I asked if they were covered under the platinum warranty, they said no. I went to BMWs website and found that they are listed as covered. When I pursued this with both the dealer and BMW USA, I was told that they are not covered if replacement is due to normal wear and tear and that I failed to read the small print on their website. They said if it was a defect in the product, they would cover it. So I guess everything that I paid for under this contract is subjective based on their opinion. They do not even identify which items specifically are subject to this wear and tear clause. So I guess if my navigation system breaks, they will claim I used it too much! I will never buy another BMW again. BTW, I never had these corporate integrity problems with my Mercedes or Infiniti cars. Escalation to Managing Supervisor at BMW N.A. doesnt help either. All you get is the dealer blaming corporate and corporate blaming the dealer. What a scam these extended warranties are.

I Vikash ** owner of my 320D BMW, which I had purchase on 14th Feb 2018 from RANCHI JHARKHAND sharing here my experience with this brand and their agencies. The tyre of left side both front and rear crack at ones on running condition on 22nd Dec 2018 on smooth road in a speed of 50 to 60 km/hr. Now see the quality of material using by this brand. The agency persons of Ranchi are not able to clear the reason. And also they are worst in giving updates. I had drived my car approx 14000 km and BMW given me this gift. I am totally dissatisfied of my decision for going to purchase this BRAND.

I got scammed by BMW. I entered into a 2-year lease in 2016. Few months before the lease ends, I purchased additional miles. I was told that any unused miles will be refunded. I returned my car yesterday and guess what, they refused to refund my unused miles. However, they found my left rear tire was a little bit more used than the other ones and they charged me $300. Plus the extra $350 fee to close the lease...Not only that but last year, I was in Europe for a month or so and totally forgot to pay my monthly charge, was 30 days late and paid as soon as I came back to the US and opened my mail. That was the only late payment I had during my entire lease. Well guess what, BMW reported it right away and my credit score got impacted so bad it prevented me to purchase a house. I wrote a letter to try to solve this issue, they ignored it. BUT the sales team kept harassing me to try to sell me a new lease... Yeah, you guys can keep trying. I dont want to deal with BMW EVER again!

I dont know where you went to have your oil changed, but I do know most of the drive thru oil change places have poor, untrained employees who know nothing about cars, changing your oil. Its very possible one of these employees introduced oil to your cooling system via the overflow tank which could have long term effects on your engine, water pump, etc. I believe if you are a BMW owner or German car owner in general, you need to have some basic automotive understanding which would include NOT taking your car to any random oil change place. Learn how to do it yourself using the correct oil, filter and tools, and it can be so rewarding. Or take it to someone who cares about your car as much as you do...

Without warning, my 2007 BMW 328Xi engine shut off and stopped in the middle of a busy road. I was told by a BMW service rep that my fuel tank draw tube fell off causing loss of fuel to the engine. I learned online that this is happening to other 2007 era BMWs and the reason is that the fuel draw tube is corroded by the fuel it is drawing and weakens and falls off. The fix is a new fuel tank, pump and draw tube for excess of $2,000.When contacted by my service rep, BMW gave a token $500 toward my repair leaving me with a $1,900 repair bill. Had this failure occurred on a busy Seattle freeway, my life would have been in grave danger as would have others around me - there would have been an accident with no way to avoid it. BMW is aware of their product failure and my question is who has to die before BMW steps up to the plate and accepts responsibility and recalls and repairs these vehicles? If you own a 5-7 year old BMW (maybe newer), its going to happen to you and I would appreciate your raising your voice to BMW before someone has to die to get BMWs attention.

I leased a 2015 320i BMW. The check engine light turned on. When I took it to BMW they told that unfortunately they have put a sensor in the bottom of the car and that the sensor has no cover. Since BMW are low cars and the city is full of bumps and potholes the cables of the sensor broke. They told me that the warranty doesnt cover that. I had to pay for the part and hours of labor. I believe its not fair to any bmw customer that because bmw (unfortunately) located a sensor in an inappropriate place and decided not cover it, we have to pay for that when it should be included on the warranty.

I purchased this BMW 2011 740 li for my wife 9/14 with $55k miles from BMW Murrieta. We have barely had this car two years and has been in the shop 75 days with over $23k paid in repairs. Problems began immediately after we purchased the car. BMW Murrieta told me this car had a thorough 180 point inspection, rear brakes were gone in 300 miles. I took it back and complained, BMW Murrieta warrantied the rear brakes and rotors. 58k Miles - noise in front end, diagnosed as thrust rod bushings, those were replaced. 59K miles, seat motors go out, replaced those. 60k miles - noise in the rear - cv joints went out, replace those. 61k miles, power steering pump starts leaking and making noise, belt tensioner fails as well. Replaced both as well as the accessory belt. 62k miles, check engine light comes on, fuel tank supply line / pressure sensor fails, replaced those, 68k miles, check engine light comes on - turbo low pressure, replaced, gaskets, collars and vacuum lines. 70k miles check engine light comes on, turbo low pressure - turbo failed, replaced turbos and pressure converters. All good for a while. 89k miles, check engine light comes on - fuel injectors fail, replaced all fuel injectors. 92k miles check engine light comes on - transmission leaks all over driveway and slipping. Replaced inner mechatronics seal, fluid, pan and seal. 102k miles check engine light comes on, car overheating - water pump fails, replace water pumps, coolest and various gaskets, seals. 103k miles check engine light comes on - vacuum lines on turbo fail again, also replaced valve cover, gaskets and more sensors. 103.5k miles, transmission cooler leaking, replace cooler and lines. Anyone who doesnt believe me, I have all the service records I would be happy to post.During all this time, BMW Murrieta never recommends that a factory inspector come look at the car for all the issues, BMW America never reaches out to us for any customer service (not sure if they would know this car was in the shop so much unless the dealer would have told them). I call BMW America to see if they can help us at all with all the issues on the car. They open a case to inspect service records, all the money we have spent on repairs at the shop, all the down time, etc. This gets escalated to a gentleman named Kurt ** - Executive Customer Care (the title actually sounds like they care, THEY DONT!!) Two weeks later they call me and tell me the BMW does not meet their criteria for any kind of help. He tells me they wont buy it back, I tell him I dont want or expect them to buy it back. I tell him, Im just hoping you would take a look at the service records, all the money I have spent repairing this car (over half of what I paid for it), take into consideration all the stress, frustration, down time, rental cars, etc. and see if you can help me in any way keep this thing on the road and out of the dealers mechanic bay. Maybe some help with a trade or maybe some kind of help with an extended warranty, he tells me they cannot do anything, the service records and time in the shop do not meet any of their criteria for help.I will never ever buy another BMW in my life. This car has been the biggest joke amongst friends and family. They all warned me not to buy a BMW, especially a used one, even if its a CPO or not, doesnt matter if you buy it from the dealer or not. Once you take the car, youre on your own. BMW will not help you with any issues you have. This BMW is the most unreliable car I have ever owned period. Ill stick to my Chevys, Fords and Hondas.

I leased a 2 series as a third car - Just returned with 6k miles. Half way the car went dead - Ok, it happens. But it took 24h and 5 or 6 calls - Yes - For BMW roadside assistance to tow the car to the dealership (And then I had a few issues with the dealership, but minor so wont make this too long). I then proceeded to return it a couple weeks ago. They did an inspection a month before lease return (Just like my Range Rover went through, which showed a lot of charges, but then to my surprise US Bank did not charge any of them as I believe someone actually checked it and saw they were unwarranted - Kudos to them). Anyways, BMW are now charging me the same exact 2k from the Inspection even though I changed one tire at the dealership as requested (I deemed that to be right) AND the key that was Missing wasnt and was returned - They said the inspection was final, and it is upon me to show all receipts. Plus they are charging me for minor wheel scratches and other things I had never heard of before from Mercedes or Range Rover or anyone else Ive dealt with for that matter. BMW never, ever again.

My car had less than 50.000 miles all that time. The body was damaged and rust spots all over it from their underground garage and lost my key. l can go on on with this. Clear coat failure, 2007 530i - Early in 2011, I took my BMW in for service to Bert Smith BMW in Saint Petersburg, FL. While the car was there, I had them look at clear coat that was disappearing from top surfaces on my car. They informed me that it looked like production defect so they would get a BMW rep to come look. Supposedly, the rep checked it out and deemed to be environmental issue. What the heck does that mean? If you live in FL and buy a $56,000 BMW that it is normal for the paint job to last 4 years tops. My neighbors Hyundai still has a beautiful paint job (same climate). How ridiculous. I looked and my mouth dropped right away. I went back to BMW. My back bumper was smashed and my light was broken. I was gone not even 10 minutes. The manager at BMW was very rude and nasty telling me this did not happen there. And I was responsible to cover the damage. Someone at BMW while in their possession crashed my car. Backed it in and knew I would get in and drive off. I took my car in for internal problems nothing having to do with the body. I did know I had to do a 360. My main concern was that my car was running properly. Not that my car would be smashed. How does that happen? Then for the manager to be so rude and mean to me blaming me like I did that damage. As he walks in he says to me “looks like someone is going to need a new bumper! That is no way to treat nor talk to a customer who just spent money and then having her car damaged from someone at BMW. Unacceptable. No one should have to go through this. Horrible.

I purchased a 2006 BMW 750li new from Reaves Motorcars of Tampa. I noticed the paint starting falling this year. I took it to the dealer who stated he felt there was a defect in the paint/clear coat. He called BMW to come look at the problem. On the once a month visit from the regional manager, Bill **, I was called by the dealer to drop the car off for his review. When I came to pick the car up the service tech informed me that it was not warranted. I was also informed that he never even looked at the car. I then spoke to the general manager, Kelly **, who gave me the 800 number for BMW customer relations. I called them and explained the problem and they scheduled another time for the same rep, Bill **, to actually look at the problem. I went to the dealer to meet the rep to discuss the problem; he no-showed and let me sit at dealership waiting on him. I called the 800 number and I expressed my frustration about the unprofessional behavior of the rep. When I got home I received a blocked caller ID call from the rep who asked to come look at the problem but never apologized for his no-show. He showed up at my home with an obvious attitude, looked at the car and said it was not warranted. I was very disappointed. I then took the car to a different dealer, Bert **, to get a repair done unrelated to the paint. When completed I asked for a price to have the paint repaired. I received a call from the service tech who stated they thought I should have the BMW rep look at the paint as they felt there was a defect. I asked who the rep was and the answer was Bill **, the same rep from the other dealer. I explained his past evaluation and asked for a price anyway. I called the 800 number again and shared my concern and they said there would be no further action in spite of my request for a different set of eyes. I feel BMW has poor representation and does not want to fix their defect. I would not recommend a BMW. I will get the car repainted and submit a claim in court.

My recommendation is to find another source to finance the purchase/lease of a BMW. Perhaps avoid the product altogether. I assumed a lease, 12 months remaining, in January of 2016. The original account/lessee had prepaid the lease including the applicable sales taxes due the original State of Registration - MA. I registered the vehicle in my home State of Maine where sales taxes on leased vehicles are paid in full upfront upon registration. At that time I informed BMW Financial Services (BMW) that I would be registering the vehicle in ME and therefore sales taxes prepaid and due MA for the remaining term of the lease would no longer apply. I made the argument then that the prepaid balance on the BMW lease account, relative to sales taxes collected for future remittance by BMW to MA, should be refunded to me, the new Lessee of the vehicle. I was told that BMW would stop billing MA sales taxes to the account upon receipt of documentation proving that the vehicle was now registered and titled in Maine. Any balance collected upfront for MA sales taxes and remaining on the account would only be refunded to me at the end of the lease term. As of today, BMW continues to bill me for MA sales taxes even though the vehicle has been registered in ME since January of 2016. I phoned BMW today to revisit this situation; their response was that nothing could be done because the account was originally prepaid. Sales taxes are due monthly on a lease in MA, they continue to bill, collect and pay MA sales taxes because that is how they do it. Sound like BS to you? At best this is an error BMW is unwilling to correct on behalf of a long standing customer with three finance accounts currently active with the Company. At worst it is outright fraud that they are collecting and pocketing taxes that are not due/payable to the State of MA. What is a BMW customer worth over their lifetime? Im not asking for a discount, Im asking to be refunded sales taxes that are being paid twice, once to the original State of MA and now to the Sate of Maine. We are talking about $600 versus over $300,000 in lifetime value of a BMW Customer. BMW is not willing to make an effort to make this right, what does that tell you about their commitment to customer service. They are willing to lose over $300,000 of customer value and avoid correcting a $600 error on behalf of a long standing customer.

Have owned Chevys, Fords, Hondas, Lexus, Jeeps, but none of them compared to the Junk of a BMW. I thought Ford was the worst vehicle I have owned...until I decided to purchase The ultimate driving machine against the advice of my 5 uncles who are mechanics. Thought Why not see what these High class cars? I am now a believer that these cars are sold to wealthy people mostly who know nothing about cars other than the reputation they have amongst the wealthy. With under 100k I had a leaky valve cover gasket, which caused my ignition coils to go out and have to be replaced. After that repair the fuel pump needed replaced then following that the injectors needed replaced. Luckily for me, I bought the extended warranty and those repairs were covered. After it broke 100k miles I pulled out of my driveway and noticed a bunch of steam coming from under the hood. After further examination I found that BMW used a cheap assistance black piece of plastic literally comparable to the material a plastic straw from McDonalds is made out of. Well that cheap piece had crumbled. After repairing that problem, the check engine light came on again, from leaky valve cover again, fouling the ignition coils, again. Immediately following that repair... It has snowed and I was sitting in my car with the heater on, when a big plume of smoke came out from under the dash. I immediately shut the car off and located the problem. Hindsight I should have just let the car catch fire and burn to the ground. Turns out that there has been a slow drip coming from the cabin air filter, which dripped down behind the dash onto the heater fan, which made its way slowly down to the heater fan regulator and eventually made its way inside the regulator, which with a well engineered vehicle, should have just blown the fuse. Instead of the fuse blowing, the regulator grounded out melted the connector inside the regulator and melted the wires down to copper wire about 3 inches down the wire harness. When the repairs were finished, hooked the battery back up and started the car, went to look under the hood to check everything going out just to notice a ton of oil that was spewing out of my oil filter housing between the engine and housing. Oh yeah and heater doesnt work still. Next is the heater fan which had no sign of a short but is now fried too. For how great these cars are suppose to be, I would take it from someone who has a familiarity with working on vehicles. Buy Honda, Toyota, Acura, or Lexus. DO NOT BUY A BMW!! Unless you want to ride in a stylish unreliable Piece of Junk. It is fun to drive when it works. However being stranded on the side of the road, especially in a subfreezing climate sucks. I have had as many problems with this car than I have had with an old 1996 Honda Accord with 300k plus miles on it. Theres now only 112k on the BMW and I am driving the old Honda again. Even my 91 Honda crx with 160k miles has had fewer problems than this car. My BMW HAS even had more problems than my old 92 Ford 250 with 212k on it.If you have the money for a BMW, save yourself the headache and get a Lexus or Acura. I will never recommend a BMW to anyone. In fact I have kept 4 people at work from making the same mistake as me. When I get it fixed to drive again, I am getting rid of it. I will never own another nor do I recommend buying one, unless you like to spend thousands and thousands and thousands on repairs or you like to work on cars. The amount of money repairs and maintenance cost, a person could buy 2 cars instead of 1 BMW.

I love to drive the BMW 640i (plus the look). And people love the look too. Its fun, responsive, fast, gorgeous, awesome driving machine, tight (no rattles or squeaks), super-incredible convertible and eye catching! You feel totally in control when driving this 6 series car. Turning radius is awesome too! Need acceleration? No problem. Ever. Fully loaded this car does almost everything! Cameras all around can show if you are evenly in a parking space! Write addresses on the ceramic dial for navigation. Or talk to the car to get directions or to make a call on the phone. On cruise control, it will slow itself if a car gets too close! One touch and the convertible top opens or closes by itself. Check the car, unlock it, turn on the lights, or even sound the horn from my phone! Or turn on the ventilation in the car from my phone if it is too hot out so the car will be cooler when I get in! And if I need any kind of help - at all - I can contact my “always there” BMW assist! They will answer questions, send directions, give suggestions, talk to me, read to me, anything! Seems like there is nothing that this car isn’t able to do! Cannot imagine a better-looking or driving vehicle!!!

We leased 2013 X5 for three years and had to replace the tires around every 8000 mil. Even we have done the regular maintenance, the tires wearing are not match. I only can come out a reason is they have alignment flaw. By the end of lease, we sent the car to the Ontario dealer for pre-inspection. Estimated end lease cost was $950 on Feb 9. Returned car 10 days later, the final inspection at same dealer came out the end lease cost to $1401.20 ($51.20 is overmileage charge, $400 Exterior Wear). We were disagree the new cost and agree to let BMW Financial Services to do the final appraisal. Today we have received invoice for total $2563.30 (Extra charge: $400 Excessively Worn Tires or mismatched Tires and $1000 Exterior Excess Wear). What is a guideline for BMW to do the end of lease appraisal? Be careful when you returning a leased car and not continue to buy BMW.

I purchased a 2018 BMW X5 in 2017. We bought a brand new vehicle so I wouldn’t have to be having car trouble. I’ve owned the vehicle about 14 months and it has had 2 engine malfunctions within one year. The vehicle just starts shaking and completely shuts off! Both times it happened in the freeway were cars are driving a constant speed of over 55 miles. Luckily I was able to just merge to the side of the freeway without causing an accident. Very bad experience just thinking I could of put my kids in danger since the engine just shuts off out of nowhere. This last time we were stranded in the grapevine where there was no stores or gas station close by just waiting for the tow truck to arrive. Both times my car has been in service for over a week. I am trying to request a replacement for a car that is not faulty or if they can just reimburse me what I’ve paid for and return the vehicle. I am very disappointed. We thought that one of the best car makers were BMW and it has let me down especially for the price.

I own a 2007 BMW 530i and cant believe the problems it is giving me. I have taken it to the dealer every month since August 2011 until now. I had major problems with power steering not working, alternator pulley damaged with belt, engine overheating, left fuel level sensor cap leaking, coolant pump not working, lower radiator hose and coolant temp sensor leaking, vibrating at high speed, radiator leakage at the bottom and after radiator replacement upper radiator hose was leaking. Stranded again with internal fault in starter as per the dealers service center. Washer fluid pump leakage was found. After all the repairs since August, I ended up at the dealers with transmission malfunction indicator and was told it was due to one of the crankshaft sensors that was faulty. During the check, they also found oil filter housing gasket leaking. Owning this car has been one expensive and frustrating experience. I would not recommend this car. We pay the price for quality and not this torture. I have owned a Mazda 323,Toyota Sienna, Camry, Mercedes and Volkswagen that have lasted for more than 175,000 miles with no major issues. Owning this car has been the worst experience of my life. I contacted the corporate office for BMW and was told that they will take the complaint but no one from their office has to call us back.

I am overly wrought about my purchase of a 1994 BMW (purchased in 2003 with only 62,000 miles). It now has 132,000 miles on it. The following has happened in the last three years: the transmission went out, air conditioning went out, SRS system is down, radiator went out (2 times), $2,000 of leaks, and lumbar adjustment (both seats) broken.

I have had my 2011 528I since 09-02-11. Its a great car. BMW advertises that the only thing you have to pay for is tires and gas. I complained about the $1900 NAV system, and that it was not very user friendly, and that my $200 Magellan was a much better device. I had gone to the dealer, asking for a software upgrade, as the device had trouble finding known businesses that I attempted to locate as a test of the system. I was told that it would cost me $400 for an upgrade (which they recommend 4 times a year). I can buy 2 Magellans with free lifetime upgrades for that price. When I complained to BMW USA, they told me they had no control over local dealers, and they could charge any price they wanted. So much for the Tires & Gas.

My 2017 X1 was blacked out and completely died while entering the freeway. The BMW computer system failed to alert or display any warnings about the faulty battery or vehicle. We were unable to turn on the hazard light to alert the other drivers. All we could do was praying that the police will show up before we get hit by other vehicles. BMW of North America has refused to accept any liabilities for the defective battery used to build the X1.

I am trying to sell this piece of crap that I bought...was in a hurry and fell for sweet-talking seller. Now I discover that it has a branded title with a buy-back history. The vehicle BMW 328i Sedan was apparently bought back by BMW NA and then they did something to the vehicle. The buyer I have located is interested but wants to know what was done to the cat during buy-back and was put back to sale by BMW NA. When I call them, they say they can give service history but not what caused the buy-back nor what was done before they put it back on market. Dealership that bought the car post Buyback nor any others are giving any information.Since buying I have spent close to $5000 for repairs and they are growing by minute. I was surprised and appalled at the apathy to consumer request at BMW NA. Since then I have done lots of research and found BMW is worse than any American mfg. company. American companies connect you to their warranty department and service experts and try to do justice to your request. Not so with BMW. The customer service reps at BMW NA either refused to connect me to higher ups or disconnected me. One rep clearly told me that information is with higher ups and when I requested to connect me, she flatly refused. It is amazing that they seem to have no qualms about this and have been trained to behave this way, that much was clear. Best suggestion to you is to dump this expensive piece of junk and do yourself a favor. Forget dealing with this stupid company or its cars.

So my cars power went out, I did some research about the recall it had with the battery cable. I got the car sent in for that battery cable recall, they ended up taking longer than expected to fix it. Okay so I was patient, very nice to the dealership. They told me the car is fixed, I went and got the car. Whilst getting it, I was told that my regular for my back window is broken... Weird, my regulator wasnt broken before. So the service advisor told me he was going to get his manager to fix it then hell get the car out to me asap. So I thought they fixed it, didnt think anything of it. I took the car, wanted to listen to some music... Turns out my aux import AND USB port are both not working. So Im okay with it, called them about it and the service advisor, Cody, never answered my call. So I went on with life. Take in mind, two of my friends who got this recall done, BOTH of their starters went out at the SAME time. So I told this guy, Cody, that if my starter goes out... Ill be back, he goes thats interesting, but definitely let me know if the starter goes out. So I have the car for one day... I pull up to a gas station, turn the car off to get some gas. Try and turn it back on. Wow turns out my starter went out. Called BMW to get it looked at, they tell me my starter is out and that its going to be a whopping $1,400 to fix my starter and regulator for my window. This is ridiculous, so the manager called me and basically said that Im WRONG over and over and he had to be right. I asked him if it were a possibility that the starter got too much power to it? From this new cable. NOPE Im wrong, theres no chance at all. Just because the starter is somewhere else doesnt MEAN that this recall defected my starter. Weird cause my car was in perfect condition before that recall, and before the power went out. Will never be doing business with this corrupt company ever again.

At the end of my wifes lease, she had an inspection report done at the BMW dealership where she had started the lease from. They performed an inspection of the car, then to find out that after she left, BMW Financial had the car picked up and brought to another state to only then get an excessive damage bill in the mail of an extra $500.00 dollars. My wife said where did this come from, we had an inspection done at the dealership and there was no such damage done to the car, my wife then said please show me pictures of the damage; they could not produce such pictures, but to only say she is being held liable for the excessive damages, and it has been harassment from that point on.Now, they have a place called vital recovery that is threatening her if she does not pay and going into our personal accounts. This is extremely poor taste of business from such a large car dealership. They cannot produce any proof of damages but to only say that the damages are there, here is a financial company that took a vehicle that she once leased and took it into another state, and then, they said that they performed another inspection and that is where they are coming up with this extra damage. Now, how much of a trap is that. My wife told them that I then needed to be at this inspection to witness it but now look what BMW financial is trying to pull, I say they damaged the car transporting it, and are looking for my wife to pay for it, and I wont have that. All they are doing is harassing my wife everyday.

I purchased a 2008 BMW 335i as a second owner. Then, I discovered after the purchase that the title was branded lemon--manufacturer buy-back. Carfax did not have the word lemon until two years later when the state of California required the word lemon be added. Regardless, the BMW was a buy-back at 4,000 miles because the fuel pump failed. Eight months later, the below recall was issued:VOLUNTARY RECALL: BMW High-Pressure Fuel Pump Voluntary Emissions Recall--models w/ N54.The upshot of this is that my car was branded a lemon due to manufacturing failure but none of the cars post recall were branded as such. BMW refuses to intervene on my behalf to the California DMV, to reserve the title branding; thus, leaving my car worth 25% less than comparable values for this particular model. While trying to trade it at a BMW dealership, they confirmed that it wasnt worth 60% of comparable values.Doesnt BMW USA have a responsibility to make this right? None of this would have been known by me had I not seen a Carfax with the updated lemon language and had I not tried to sell the car, now with 35K miles on it. Please help me. BMW has flatly said that there is no recourse for me.

I purchased a 2013 X5 last year and after putting 13k miles on the vehicle, I am told that it needs new tires. The dealer said that they should last 30k miles, but have worn uneven. Because I have purchased 7 ($500k worth) vehicles from BMW over the past 12 years, I thought that they would work with me in replacing the tires. They told me that it was my problem and that they are not doing anything about it. Well I am 35 and at this rate will be purchasing 15+ new vehicles over the next 35 years.... guess its time to give the Audi and Mercedes a try! I am sure that they value their loyal clients more.

I bought my 323i in 2002 with 50,000 miles. Ive spent more on unscheduled maintenance and breakdowns in each and every year than I ever spent in the entire 17 years I owned my Honda (which racked up 240,000 virtually trouble-free miles, by the way). Now at a paltry 115,000 miles, the BMW transmission has failed and the car is a total loss due to repair cost. I had foolishly bought my first BMW product only 6 months ago. It is a 04 x5 4.6is. I bought it from a private seller who obviously took very good care of it since it seemed to be in great shape. Here I thought I was getting a super deal on a very well built, high costing vehicle. Wow, was I mistaken. A month after getting it, I had to replace and electrical module behind the glove box at the tune of 800.00 then, a month later, I am making a left turn and the transmission farts out and throws itself into fail safe mode. After a couple days and a 250.00 diagnostic charge at the local dealership, I had my worries confirmed. It needed: 1.New transmission at the tune of $10,000.00, it only has 148,000 km on its lifetime fluid that never needs changing! My Honda CRV has 310,000 km on it and going strong. 2. New tail light since they were melting to the point of failure, 650.00.3. New engine fan since it was only running on high mode only and sounded like a Boeing 747 at take off., 1200.00!Like I needed to be insulted, the guy at the dealership suggests that maybe the owner before worked the tranni too hard by pulling things, since it has a towing package. Wow. After many hours of surfing the web, I learned that these are all problematic issues due to lack of quality and very poor design, which BMW will not take any responsibility for.I finally had the transmission repaired for 3000.00. Have not fixed the tail light issue and have no intentions of changing the fan. I am in the process of selling it or trading it off before the rear air suspension goes bad. Never again, should have bought a Honda.

There are so many issues reported for this vehicle (BMW 745), they have become essentially worthless, so my issue is not with any particular problem as most have been stated already. My issue is that when is BMW going to be held accountable for not doing their own issued TSBs when the vehicle was in for service and still under warranty. Okay so now I will state a particular problem (like we need another). COLD CLIMATE CONDITIONS TSB S.I. B11 01 07 October 2007. In a nutshell it states that in cold weather conditions, the crank case ventilation valve may freeze causing a leaking oil filler cap, leaking or broken valve covers to complete engine failure. What does BMW mean by extremely cold climate conditions, by reviewing forums etc. where the problems have been reported. This extreme cold area appears to be anywhere that it might snow! Being located in central Alberta, Canada is now apparently the equivalent to being in the arctic circle, then again so it would appear for locations as far south as Michigan. One must wonder where the BMW engineers developed the car, my guess Germany, but alas it would appear that Germany must have been unseasonably warm during the testing of this engine. How this is not a mandated recall is beyond my comprehension. But wait it gets even worse! So the valve gaskets start to leak in fall of 2013, I take it in for the repair and the work is performed, but leak persists, then it is discovered that the BMW dealer here in Edmonton supplied, standard valve cover gaskets, not the gaskets referred to in the TSB issued in 2007. Being Edmonton, why would they even supply any gaskets, that were not cold weather approved. Its just not an issue with the 7 series as it also exists in the 6 and 5 series. When it comes to the X5 AWD, where does BMW think their North American customer base is... California? I am the original owner and the car has all off 114,000 Kilometers on it. Does BMW make a good car... no, do they care... no, would I ever buy another ....no. Would I recommend anyone buy one... no. Hopefully this complaint will be read by people doing research prior to purchase and they can avoid the incredible frustration of being a BMW owner.

My fiances 2006 Cooper S with 71,000 miles and with all scheduled maintenance done as scheduled has thrown a connecting rod destroying the engine. I had requested some assistance from Mini USA and was denied only because it is a little bit out of warranty. After listening to an interview on Whiteroof radio, its obvious there are known problems with the engines from a few years ago that have been fixed but that does us absolutely no good. The dealer where we took it cant even give a good reason (oil level was fine) why this would happen. It is still there after 3 weeks waiting to see if they can get us more than the $4,500 that was originally offered to us. There is no way we can or will pay the $9,000 they quoted to put in a rebuilt engine. Needless to say, we are very upset since until recently we had 3 minis in the family. Why would such a large company choose to not at least to partially assist such a loyal customer. All this after we spent over $2,500 just a few months ago to fix suspension problems. She wanted the BMW Countryman next but well see how this plays out and we may never buy any BMW or Mini products ever again as well as telling everyone that will listen.

I own a 2005 325CI with 51,000 miles and I have clear coat issues myself. Unfortunately, I bought the car used a few years ago. I figured I could get some assistance from the customer complaint center because the ** service manager at the local dealership basically told me ** you in a nice way. Both my conversations with management from the dealership and customer service center were futile, no assistance whatsoever. There is definitely a trend with these complaints even with cars that are garage kept. The materials that are being used here are definitely substandard. I have other cars that sit in the same driveway that are older than the BMW, and I use the same cleaning products on them that I use on the BMW and I have no issues at all. I am not asking for a freebie, but I think BMW should give some sort of assistance in these matters and take care of their customers whether they bought their cars new or used. The customer service reps and managers at the so-called Service Center are a bunch of arrogant ** that know nothing about taking care of the customer. If anyone has any info on who I can talk to other than the service center, dealership, or paint reps, please let me know. I am totally frustrated that no assistance was offered.

To all that might take an interest in this; this is my first time posting on any consumer complaint forum. So hopefully people dont make the mistake of purchasing a 2009-2014 BMW with an N63 engine and affects five different vehicle classes. These cars are lemons with a long history of mechanical problems, and a class action lawsuit filed in 2015 for excessive oil consumption, drained batteries, and other problems affected by the oil cooled parts inside the car. Visit: ** to see full notice of the court documents, and full story. The final date for filing any paperwork to claim your vehicle under the class action was October 10th 2018. Too bad BMW has failed to properly notify owners about this, and still continue to sell these cars without advising anyone about the litigation behind them.In August 2016 I purchased a used 2012 BMW 750LI M Sport with 38,482 miles. The car was sold to me by a private dealership in Los Angeles, and was a one owner lease return that originated from BMW of Santa Monica, CA. The car had a clear title, and free of defects, and I paid 42K out the door price with tax & extended warranty to protect me through 100K miles for any possible mechanical issues that could arise with the car. Since that time Ive had nothing but problems since I bought it that started with minor things like ignition coils, spark plugs, and check engine lights. Excessive oil consumption was noticed immediately the first year I owned it, and constantly had to top off the oil. Ive meticulously maintained the car since Ive had it and always taken to a certified BMW mechanic. The BMW service centers I dont trust as far as I can throw them, and use a preferred & HONEST BMW mechanic. In July 2018 I took my car into the shop to diagnose several issues going on with the car which now has 92K miles. I wanted to have my mechanic check everything including doing a brake fluid flush, and oil change prior to making another drive into Southern California from Nevada where I currently live. After inspection my mechanic mentioned that the motor was falling apart; The car had leaking turbo hoses, upper oil pan gasket leak, bad steering pump, excessive oil consumption problems, and the engine valve stem seals were shot and explained why smoke would come out of the tailpipe during cold starting, and lastly an electric short underneath the drivers seat that scorched the material underneath and could have caught fire at some point had it continued. In all I was facing $15,000 dollars to complete all repairs. We contacted my extended warranty company who handled the situation great. Due to the extent of the engine problems they sent out an adjuster to verify everything and audited my service records to ensure the car had been properly maintained, and also had video scope photos taken inside the engine of oil cooled timing chain to verify there was no engine deposits or oil gunk build up. It was clean as a whistle, and they indicated since the repairs exceeded the value of new engine they authorized a complete engine replacement in addition to fixing the electrical problems with my seat. The engine was ordered through a BMW dealership in Las Vegas NV in August, and now here we are in November 2018 and still no sign of the engine or status on when we can expect to receive it. Since July Ive had a loaner, and paid out of pocket for extensive rental fees, paying for an auto loan on a car that I cant even drive with still $24K left on it, and have had to register the vehicle as non-operable with the state DMV.After repeated attempts to get a status on the engine by myself personally and my mechanic to get a status on the replacement engine; we still have no information, and appears to be no end in sight. The only reasoning behind the delay of the engine is that they cant find anyone to make a drive camshaft on this motor. The third party company that used to make this part went out of business and they have no alternative currently. Sounded like complete B.S. to me, and I called them on it stating that it sounded like an excuse. At this point Im extremely pissed off, and decided to email BMW Group Germany to ask them if they really cared about their customers. I found the CEO & other executive level members of BMW email addresses including their press secretary. I emailed them and demanded a response to this nonsense with the engine replacement.A couple days later I received a voicemail from a Craig ** @ BMW North America customer care stating that he was calling because I was interested in a RE-PURCHASE of the vehicle. I had missed the call because I was on a business trip. I had no clue what a re-purchase entailed or what the qualifications were, but it was something that THEY suggested. I called back the very next morning which was on a Friday, and he didnt answer so left a message to call me back as soon as possible to discuss what hed mentioned on my voicemail. He waited three days to call me back and returned my call on October 10th 2018. We discussed the re-purchase over the phone which entailed buy back 100% of the vehicle financing, maintenance, and oil used for the car that I had to top off constantly. I loved that option and expressed my interest to get me out of this situation. He said that unfortunately the deadline had passed to have my paperwork submitted under the class action settlement... I said What settlement? I had no clue what he meant. He then said yeah youre calling about the class action lawsuit right? I told him that nobody had ever notified me at any point by mail, phone, or email about a class action lawsuit. Confused he said that well the deadline is October 10th is the deadline to have your request submitted for compensation under the class action. I told Craig that You know today is October 10th right?; He confirmed this and said that there was nothing he could do to consider me for the class action since it was past the deadline as of that day, and apologized for the inconvenience. So I contact BMW - Germany, they contact Craig ** @ BMW North America to ask me about a re-purchase, and then only to tell me that Im past the deadline and theres nothing he could do. WTF? How does this make any sense? Why am I now just finding out about this class action lawsuit?? I became more irate and phoned the BMW dealership that we ordered my new engine from, and demanded to talk to a service manager or parts department manager. I told them on the phone that during this whole time my car has been in the shop, and wed been asking for a status on the engine, or alternatives to put me into another car. I asked them directly if they knew about this class action lawsuit pertaining to my engine? When I cornered them they paused on the phone & said... Yes we knew about it. I said then, Why did you not say anything about it this whole time?? Why was this kept a secret or not disclosed? The person at BMW stated that they were instructed by higher ups not to say anything about it to owners because it was in litigation, and the car owners would be notified at the appropriate time. They continued the same story about the drive camshaft holding up the production of these replacement motors, and that there was roughly 185 of these engines on back order in the entire country. WOW... talk about a cover up right? I hung up the phone on him, and proceeded to email BMW Group Germany again explaining what I just found out, and that dealerships are hiding this information from people to minimize their exposure & loss due to the class action. The very next day after I sent that 2nd email I got a call from Craig ** @ BMW North America again stating that theyd be willing to review my case again as a re-purchase option. I proceeded to email Craig my entire file from the shop that we gave my extended warranty company, and all associated service records. Craig said hed send it out to his field team to be reviewed and a determination would be emailed to me once they made their decision on the matter. After waiting a week I emailed Craig to get a status on the re-purchase decision. He contacted me saying that BMW North America had reviewed my case and have declined to approve my re-purchase request. He would not give any reason as to WHY they were rejecting it, and would not tell me who this field team was. He said he was not able to name the individuals or dealerships that make the decision for their Protection. Protection from what??They also noted on the rejection letter that their last record of service/maintenance records was in February of 2017 which was not true. I had my car serviced at my own BMW certified mechanic, and provided records for that work done, but BMW refused to acknowledge that in their letter to me. So now here are the facts.BMW continues to sell these vehicles and dealerships are intentionally not advising people that there is litigation behind them starting in 2015 when the class action was filed. BMW offered an N63 Customer Care Package at one point to put a band aid on the problem; not calling it a recall, but just making the cars last long enough to make it out of their factory warranties leaving them not liable past that point. BMW has not provided any information or status on when new engines that are paid for out of pocket or by warranty are due to be received. Stating a drive camshaft issue is preventing delivery of these engines with no end in sight. As a consumer I AM SCREWED. No car for almost 6 months, and no money to buy a new one or sell this one to get out of my current loan so I can buy something else. Without delivery of this motor my car is worthless, and no options. BMW Group Germany and BMW North America have zero control of this situation, and dealerships refusing to help take ownership of these problems. This is consumer fraud at its finest, and deliberate false statements, misinformation, are being fed to the public about these N63 motors. The 2009-2014 N63 motors are an aging group entering into high mileage and engines are crapping out with less than 100K miles on them. This is snake oil folks, and BMW knows it. The class action settlement proves the excessive oil consumption problems, and now these same engines are failing with the valve stem seals resulting in repair costs that exceed a new engine cost. They have not done their best to advise the public of this and Im sure theres hundreds of people that might be able to relate to my story. If you have purchased one of these vehicles recently from a dealer, or have extensive repairs resulting in the requirement of a new engine that BMW is not delivering on please email me immediately so we can talk. Right now I know three other people in the Las Vegas area that are affected by this. We need others in the country to step forward & share your story and put a stop to this. BMW & Car Dealerships have screwed the public long enough, and now they need to take ownership of a crappy mass produced product theyve put out into the market. Even if you buy an extended warranty youre still not safe; BMW does not have an answer for this, and if you need an engine replacement youll be waiting until next year. The biggest issue here is that BMW knows that their warranties are nowhere even close to sufficient with the well known documented issues behind these cars. They continue to sell these vehicles used and keep the information hidden from consumers. This is fraud! Look at the new class action filed this November 18. BMW has been defrauding its customers for years on these faulty motors, and continue to get rich. Someone needs to put a stop to this asap. The evidence is there, and plenty of public record & consumer complaints... how are these guys still in business?? I bought the 2013 528i car a month ago. Its been at the dealer service department for 2 weeks now on and off. 3rd time back there because of the engine light. Havent driven my car more than its been in the shop. Contacted BMW North America... Waiting for their response. This is my first BMW so it is very disappointing since they are so expensive.

I purchased a Certified 328i from Keeler BMW in Schenectady 10/15. The car had 29,000 miles on it when I purchased. Certified means that the car should be covered for most issues until it reaches either 100k or 3/12/19. My engine blew within 9 months of owning the car. BMW first tried telling me that they werent sure this was going to be covered. After threatening to sue, a new engine was ordered from overseas and covered. Shortly after, there was a recall and the oil line had to be replaced. I was told this would take 4 hours. I waited for over 8 hrs. Only 2-3 months later I found over an inch of water in the back of the car which soaked through the floor mats and through the carpet. The door seals broke. Yet another fight with BMW because they first claimed that this happens and that the door seals werent covered. They eventually covered them but never bothered addressing the fact that the carpets were soaked for weeks while I waited for an appointment to get the seals fixed. One would think that they would dry and professionally clean the carpets to rid of mold and mildew. They didnt bother, so now theres a lovely smell of mildew throughout my car. This brings me to one of the rear doors not opening for months due to the lock not working. I can only assume this is because water was running through the door panel when the seals werent working. Another fix. Theres a short in the passenger seats sensor. I have to keep the seat belt buckled when the seat is empty just so the annoying beeping will stop. I noted this as one of the items to be taken care of when I dropped the car off to have the door seals replaced. The dealership neglected to fix it. The bluetooth doesnt work. I have to have my phone plugged in, it wont pickup otherwise. As of todays date, 07/31/2017, my car has 70,000 miles on it with coverage thats supposed to extend up to 100,000 miles. The car sounds like a go kart when I start it and turn it off. Ive contacted BMW several times asking what they will do in terms of a tradein. Im tired of having this car serviced and out of commission for days, at times, weeks. I use my car for my business. There are certain standards that should be met by BMW considering the consumer is paying for the brand name and customer service that is supposed to be associated along with. If I wanted a car that was going to be in the shop every month, Id buy a 3k beater off of Craigslist. BMW has only offered me $1,500 towards a NEW BMW as a resolution. Completely unreasonable. This car is a LEMON. I would expect the company to recognize this and offer a more reasonable resolution. This is my third BMW. Wheres the customer service? Perhaps at Mercedes.

Recently purchased a 2016 BMW 228i. The vehicle was equipped with Driver Assistance Package that included Park Distance Control. A safety feature that warns the driver when approaching objects with sensors located both front and rear of the vehicle. A very useful feature to avoiding hitting objects and causing damage to the vehicle so I thought. The rear sensors are automatically activated ANYTIME when placing the vehicle in reverse and backing up. The front sensors are automatically activated when placing the car in REVERSE when first starting the PARKED vehicle BUT do not activate if placed in DRIVE. What good does having the front sensors on when going backwards and not on when going forward? Also, the front sensors automatically turn off after the car is in motion. You must manually activate the front sensors by pushing the button located near the gear shift lever. I did not know this. By forgetting to do this will not warn you of distance of an object in front of you to avoid an accident. In layman terms you forgot to turn on the front sensors beforehand causing you to hit an object and damaging the vehicle. In my case, I would have avoided hitting the curb causing damage underneath the front spoiler because I failed to activate the front sensors that I had no knowledge of at the time. BMW has a representative called a BMW Genius who teaches the new owner every aspects of the vehicle and the functionality of the vehicle. This would have been very useful had I been educated but unfortunately I was not.I contacted BMW customer service as well as the BMW Genius to advise them of the operation of the Park Distance Control and had the front sensors been activated I would have avoided causing an estimated repair bill of $600 to $700 dollars. What good is it if its not on? Should have I known that I was going to hit the curb and to activate the front sensors? Why do I not have to activate the rear sensors? The BMW representative is going to file a Formal Complaint on my behalf and thanked me for informing them of the situation and told me to have a pleasant day.

4 weeks ago, on 5/8/12, I brought my car in for service. The check engine light came on. It was in for 3 days to replace fuel injection system. I got it out and 4 days later the check engine light came back on. I brought my car back to the dealer on 5/15/12 and it has been in there ever since until this day. It is still in there and today is 6/1/12. I am getting the run-around. They have been trying different things to fix the problem and still have not fixed it. They wouldnt even provide me with a loaner. I have been paying out of pocket for a rental car going on 3 weeks now and they won’t even reimburse me for that when they test drive my car, put mileage on my car and burn up my gas. I strongly feel this car is a lemon.Instead of them saying its a lemon, they want to spend countless hours and weeks trying to fix a car they dont know how to fix for 3 weeks now. I am so angry. I dont know what else to do. They are not helping me to my satisfaction at all. All they keep telling me is they are working on it. Its been almost 3 weeks now. Enough is enough now. They keep taking apart my car and putting it back together to the point that I dont want the car because I dont think I’ll be or feel safe in it. My car is in Union Park BMW in Wilmington, DE 19806. BMW needs to buy this car back so I can move on with my life. It does not take this long to fix any car - not 3 weeks!

On or about 12/24/12, I was waiting at a red light when I heard a loud bang similar to a gunshot at which point the driver window of my 2012 BMW X3 spackled or spidered.

As a result, my name was signed by a Roxbury BMW dealership employee prior to submission. When I discovered the mistake and complained to the general manager, he told me the person no longer works there. This is considered fraud and unacceptable; I want justice. I am a three-time BMW 5 series owner with the same dealer. Please help me with the next step. Thank you.

I have a 2008 Z4 convertible with an electronic roof mechanism. The problem I am encountering is that the roof retracts into a separate chamber that has not been designed to evacuate the water that accumulates when it rains. So what happens is that the roof motor sits in water and corrodes over time. The repairs are about two thousand dollars each time since it is extremely labour intensive to remove the roof and get to the motor. This is the second instance where I have run into this problem and the roof retraction has failed. BMW are aware this is a known problem with multiple failures each year however are unwilling to re-engineer and find a permanent fix to the problem.

I purchased an R1200 ST in March 2011. The bike was not serviced or registered in my name upon delivery, and came without the spare key. A week later, the clutch gave in. It was only three weeks later before the registration and an agreement to repair the bike were done. After the second wash, scratches appeared on the tank and covers. A long debate and threats ensued to have the bike repaired, with a promise that it would receive priority treatment. A month later, the bike was delivered without keys, service book and the same scratches. The keys were delivered two days later at 02:00 in the morning. Currently, Im trying to locate my service book from the dealer with no response. BMW SA refused to assist me with my original complaint, and now with the service book. The product may be good, but the after-sale service in South Africa is non-existent.

I lease a $120,000 750xi and have had nothing but problems with this car. The car has been in the shop over 10 times including the recent 25 day trip where they replaced the engine!!! On a brand new 2016 lease never owned before. BMW refuses to make my payment for me. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. They lost my car once, one time gave me the car back with a flat tire. The list goes in. THE WORST COMPANY EVER.

I have taken my BMW 328i in three times to the Plano BMW dealership to have fixed for check engine light which keeps coming up every 3 to 4 months. One of the issues has been an EVAP leak error which keeps coming up every 6 months. Now they say you have to continue paying to diagnose the same issue that they could not fix. I have had it with BMW and when comparing it to my E350 Mercedes Benz I will give Mercedes a thumbs up on their service and their car. I am just so frustrated with BMW and this will be the last car I buy with them.

My car stopped on me going out of town on the weekend and needed a tow. I contacted BMW roadside from the number in my trunk and set up service to be towed to BMW of Manhattan and I prepaid 139.00 from my debit for the service. I called the service center at BMW of Manhattan to assure security and lockup information and was told that they could not accommodate that and they closed at 5pm. So I knew the car wouldnt arrive on time because it was a little after four when I called back roadside and made reservations for the car to be stored at the towing company until Monday morning but I had to upgrade the amount I paid from 139.00 to 169.00 because of storage time. I was told the first payment couldnt be reimbursed over the phone but that Id receive it in three to five business days. I continued out of town on the 30th through Greyhound and returned on the fifth. I kept running into the resistance of phone tag when I returned but finally got through with email correspondence. When I visited the BMW of Manhattan location I spoke about the issues and options concerning the car. The 189.00 payment for diagnostic and the issues that needed to be addressed. I was told I needed the alternator replaced and battery fixed then another diagnostic needed to be done to see what caused the recharger to stop charging and the battery to die. I explained that I had some one oil the car and wanted to know if that could be the cause because he used oil that was not suggested by my previous mechanic; it was Mobile synthetic and I wanted to make sure it hadnt shocked my system causing the car to fail (BMW 750i 2006). I also didnt want to pay for a diagnosis and fix it only to pay for another diagnosis and realize my system was shot. I feel he should have been able to give me that information the first time opposed to being charged so many times. The service area associate assured me it was not the oil but he needed to fix the car first then re-diagnose.So, I asked about the financial assistance program that I was told they didnt have. I was also told if the car was fixed and not picked up Id be charged 85 dollars a day for storage. So I asked the service adviser Denise ** did she have the information for the towing company. I wanted the car towed back to she said No. I then stated I have it in my papers I will call and have it picked up and she replied I do have it. She gestured to a folder in front of her and she said Ill call and make the arrangement and the car will be picked up Monday (This was a Saturday again and they closed at 5).Its been two weeks now since the car broke down and I have not received my reimbursement. I called BMW roadside. They cannot give any information or a telephone number to speak with someone who can explain why I dont have my 139.00 back. The woman on the phone sounded unusually uncomfortable and told me I had to send a letter to the claims department. Thats all the information she could give me; that there was no number I could call. I expressed my concerns about no contact by phone and not receiving a follow up (which she said I should have gotten). Ive googled and cannot find a number for BMW claims or reimbursement and they insist they cant help me on the phone.I called BMW of Manhattan and was greeted nasty. I wanted to know where had the car been delivered to and the woman on the phone said It was delivered to the shop where I was having it fixed (she said it wasnt there). I told her I didnt make arrangements and wheres my car. She told me to hold on and transferred me to Denise ** who said she never made the arrangements and never agreed to it. We went back and forth on the phone till I finally asked wheres the car and she said Its still in the service area. Today is 10/13/17 and the car has been there since 10/02/17.I think BMW of Manhattan is a in every area from the financial assistance to having the car fixed and also on delivery. The attitude of the managing staff Ive run into is very unethical. I feel its bad business to take my money and now I have to chase it and get spoken to rudely. There system is not put together professionally; unless theyre just common thieves. I would like my money returned and car delivered and as I write this long (hour-some) letter the email had still not generated on my phone for an update (as she called it). BMW gets no stars from me. I wish I never bought the car. (I wanted an Impala.)Oh, and when I returned to my car to retrieve stuff from my trunk. They had left food in the car that was rotting for the time it was there. The windows were rolled down and big flies were in my car. I had little groceries in the car and though it might not be their job, if you are working on it and its in your garage common courtesy and your environment should have made you throw away sour milk, juice and hamburger meat. (Im just saying.) But Im not on fb so I wont. ;) I didnt know Id need receipts at the end for this but I can furnish upon request.
