2026 BMW X3

The 2026 BMW X3 is a compact luxury SUV that blends practical versatility, premium refinement, and engaging driving dynamics. Positioned between the smaller X1/X2 and larger X5/X7 in BMW’s SUV lineup, the X3 is designed for buyers who want a well-rounded vehicle that is comfortable for daily commuting, confident on highways, capable for weekend adventures, and spacious enough for family use.

The X3 has long been a core member of BMW’s crossover range due to its balance of performance, comfort, utility, and technology — making it a strong choice in a competitive luxury SUV segment.

Design & Exterior Identity

The 2026 BMW X3 maintains a refined and athletic SUV presence:

Balanced proportions: A long wheelbase, raised ride height, and confident stance give the X3 a composed look that suits both urban roads and open highways.

Signature BMW styling: A contemporary interpretation of BMW’s recognizable design cues — including a prominent grille, sleek headlights, and sculpted body surfaces — gives it a premium identity.

Functional SUV traits: Subtle roof rails, practical body lines, and refined detailing strike a balance between aesthetic appeal and everyday usability.

Sporty accents: Design elements such as dynamic character lines and trim features add a sense of motion even at a standstill.

The exterior design emphasizes a premium presence that is neither too bold nor overly conservative, appealing to a wide range of buyers.

Powertrain & Performance

The 2026 X3 offers a range of powertrain options that aim to satisfy diverse driving preferences:

Responsive engines: Turbocharged four-cylinder and available six-cylinder units provide dependable acceleration, smooth power delivery, and confident performance across driving situations.

Efficient performance: Powertrain tuning aims to balance fuel efficiency with spirited response, making the X3 capable both in city traffic and on open roads.

Automatic transmission: A refined automatic gearbox enhances smoothness, adaptive responsiveness, and everyday driving ease.

Drive system options: Rear-wheel drive offers traditional BMW feeling while all-wheel drive increases traction and confidence in varied conditions like rain or light snow.

Overall, power delivery is engineered for balanced performance, combining responsiveness with efficiency.

Driving Dynamics & Handling

One of the notable strengths of the 2026 BMW X3 is its engaging yet comfortable driving character:

Precise steering: Steering feedback is tuned to deliver confident, communicative guidance that feels composed whether navigating city streets or sweeping curves.

Suspension comfort: Suspension tuning offers a balanced ride that soaks up everyday road imperfections while remaining composed during dynamic driving.

Body control: The chassis is engineered to maintain stability through turns and highway cruising alike, helping the driver feel in control.

All-weather confidence: With available all-wheel drive, the X3 handles variable road conditions with poise and predictability.

The dynamics emphasize driver confidence and adaptable performance, catering to both comfort and engagement.

Interior Comfort & Practicality

Inside, the 2026 BMW X3 blends luxury comfort with everyday usability:

Supportive seating: Seats are ergonomically shaped and supportive for both short errands and longer journeys, with available adjustments that enhance comfort.

Quality materials: Soft-touch surfaces, refined upholstery, and tasteful trim elements convey a premium feel throughout the cabin.

User-friendly layout: Controls and displays are positioned intuitively, helping reduce distraction and support ease of use for driver and passengers.

Cargo versatility: A practical cargo area — expandable with rear seats folded — provides space for luggage, gear, or weekend gear, making the X3 a flexible choice for daily life and travel.

The interior design focuses on comfort, functionality, and a premium cabin atmosphere.

Technology & Connectivity

Adaptive cruise control: Helps maintain steady speed and safe following distances on highways.

Lane-keeping assistance: Supports stability and lane position during sustained travel.

Automatic emergency braking: Offers mitigation support in unexpected slowdown situations.

Blind-spot monitoring: Improves awareness when changing lanes or in congested traffic.

Strengths of the 2026 BMW X3

Well-rounded performance: Responsive engines and balanced dynamics make the X3 enjoyable in city, highway, and light enthusiast driving.

Comfortable interior: Premium materials and supportive seating create a relaxed cabin environment.

Practical utility: Flexible cargo space and passenger room support everyday life and weekend adventures.

Modern connectivity: Digital displays and seamless integration support everyday convenience.

All-weather capability: Available all-wheel drive enhances stability and confidence across varied conditions.

Trade-offs & Considerations

Ride character: Sport-oriented suspension tuning may feel firmer than comfort-biased competitors on rough surfaces.

Cargo space vs larger SUVs: While practical for its class, cargo capacity is more modest compared with larger crossovers and SUVs.

Price range: Advanced options and technology packages can elevate pricing into segments approaching larger luxury SUVs.

Fuel economy variation: Real-world fuel economy will vary based on engine choice and driving style.

Who the 2026 BMW X3 Is Best For

The 2026 BMW X3 is ideal for drivers who:

Want a luxury SUV with balanced performance, comfort, and utility.

Appreciate engaging driving dynamics without sacrificing everyday refinement.

Value modern connectivity and driver assistance in a premium package.

Need a vehicle that is versatile for city driving, highway travel, and light adventure.

Prefer a balanced, well-rounded SUV that suits both individual and family needs.

Bottom Line

The 2026 BMW X3 delivers a strongly balanced luxury SUV package that blends comfort, performance, and practicality. With responsive handling, refined powertrains, a premium interior, and modern technology, it remains a compelling choice in the luxury compact SUV segment. 3001 bmw 740il - Bought this auto from private party for 4000 dollars as a favor for them. What a piece of junk to try and revive. BMW hides from USA rules in their failures. Beware of the newness and glamor of their models. The truth is we the consumers have to fix and try to accomplish a better product all on our own. This might seem as a bit of **. But buy American built products and German engineering might seem glamorous but GOD loves AMERICA for a reason.

In 2011, I bought a 2010 550i gt with 10k miles from Global Imports and in the span of a year, It had ten service repairs on everything from oil consumption to pumps leaks drivetrain failures. Global trade assisted me out of that vehicle into another 2010 550i gt. Within one year this vehicle was sixteen times in repair shop with ongoing failure of vehicle. I am in negotiation with BMW of North America as they have admitted liability of their failed vehicles but they have a goal to profit from this and sell me another vehicle. I believe that two and a half years of constant repairs subjecting my family to stress, loss of time, loaner vehicles and a incident where we broke down on the busiest Atlanta freeway at high traffic time potentially deadly, is cause for BMW to offer a apology and as they stand by their Brand, they stand by myself the consumer and offer my family a new vehicle comparable to the features of the 550i gt minus the constant failed operations and performances.

Disappointing policy concerning factory tires that are sold with a new vehicle. Dont get caught in this SCAM, there is no warranty, so same day you purchase your new vehicle, if tires start losing air and you find there is a puncture. Too bad, you get to purchase a new tire out of pocket. You then purchase a new tire, same brand and model and the dealer warrants the new tire for 1 year? Huh. No offer from dealership or from the national headquarters of any discount or compensation for your trouble and issue. What type of customer service is this?? This is my first BMW so starting off with a very sour taste of things to come from this experience.

I bought a 2009 BMW X5 4.8i V8 from my son-in-law who bought it new. The car had 37,000 miles on it when I bought it and now has 87,000 miles. Half of the mileage has been on 1000 mile trips. The car has been well maintained with all recommended services throughout the period. My wife and I are over 70 and do not drive the car aggressively. Here is my repair experience with this car. All but the first occurred after the 50,000 mile warranty expired: Air conditioner hose connection leaked refrigerant -- replaced hose. Headlight washer nozzle dropped off -- replaced nozzle. Plastic water overflow tank seam separated -- replaced tank. Vacuum pump leaked -- replaced vacuum pump. Oil leaked through several front engine seals and valve covers -- replaced seals. Burnt oil of 1 quart per thousand miles, through valve seals -- replaced valve seals. Vacuum leak through fuel pump activating engine/emission light -- replaced fuel pump. Total cost for these repairs was around $15,000 over 3 years. All of the repairs were done at BMW dealerships. (This, of course, was over and above normal maintenance like oil changes, adding oil, alignments, tires, brake pads, inspections, etc.) Fortunately, I had third party extended warranty coverage. The dealership mechanics told me these problems are common with BMW V8 engines. There are several reports on the web of these same problems. While BMW touts their engineering, they obviously dont engineer seals that lasts 100,000 miles. If you are considering a used BMW V8, count on $3,000 to $5,000 in repairs a year plus typical maintenance. By the way, I generally keep a car for 200,000 miles or more. The BMW is the priciest car I have owned. It also has had more repairs up to now than any of my other cars throughout their 200,000 mile life history. The car is a nice car to drive. However, given my experience, I cannot recommend a BMW. The problems I experienced had nothing to do with the the sophistication of the design. They were all basic part failures!

I purchased a CPO BMW because I wanted to feel safe and secure that the vehicle was well maintained. The cherry on top was that I would be getting free maintenance for 3 years. Then I found out the restrictions along with the free maintenance which includes only one oil change a year. I live in an area where there is no BMW dealership. So after two years, I took my vehicle in to a local place so that I could get oil changes after 6 months. I thought it would be a good test to see how good the place was too since I would be taking it in to the dealership the next time. The service place reset the indicator lights on my BMW so that I wouldnt get the incessant notification - I thought was nice of them to do that. My mistake. I took my vehicle in after 50,000 miles to get it serviced and BMW said they couldnt perform most of the major 45,000 and 50,000 mile maintenance because the service light wasnt on. I tried to escalate by calling Customer Relations, but they pushed it back to the Dealership and the area managers. The area managers said since I hadnt been in to a dealership for over a year, it showed that I didnt have any brand loyalty.Keep in mind the closest BMW dealership to me is about 45 minutes away - so not a quick drop off. Also, keep in mind I went the past two years and realized they would only perform maintenance on my vehicle once a year anyway - anything earlier and I wasnt qualified for any service. Seriously? How much does it cost to change spark plugs on my car anyway?!?! Theyve certainly lost a customer in me. I was going to have other service completed ($800+) but after this treatment, Ill take my chances and go to a local place instead.Ill give them credit that they did perform some of the other warranty covered items (like replacing gaskets, etc.), but it makes me angry and frustrated that they wont perform the regularly scheduled maintenance items due to me not having brand loyalty, especially when Ive always gone to BMW except for one time. And something as minor as not changing spark plugs has decidedly made me never to buy BMW again. I love the way the cars drive, but the joy of driving it doesnt compensate for the poor treatment I get as a customer. I should have listened to everyone else who said BMW doesnt care about their customers.

For people thinking about purchasing a BMW, please read on about how corporate shamefully handled our situation with a brand new 2014 BMW X3. Since mid December, our vehicle has damaged itself by scratching straight through the hood to the bare metal. This happened twice. First incidence, the service manager Marvin at our local dealership (Joel Confer in State College, PA) had no idea how it could have happened and advised we touch up the spot and wait to see if it happened again. Also note that paint residue was on the underside of the wiper assembly (very difficult to touch in regular operation). Marvin agreed that this was very strange. Within a month and a half, the same exact spot was scratched through right through to the metal again. This time, the paint residue was on the top of the wiper assembly. The second time, we sent the vehicle back to Sun Motors in Mechanicsburg, PA (original purchase location) for an official corporate inspection. Waited a week and a half to hear back and then it was claimed that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the wiper so they would not be doing anything except to re-touch-up the area with a touch up paint kit. The spot is not perfectly touched up and the damaged area is still clearly distinguishable. We were also advised against having the entire hood repainted again because it would diminish the value of the vehicle, have to be on record as being repainted for any future trade-ins and the paint job wouldnt be factory perfect.I asked that a resolution team member (Ruth **) look into it as that was an unacceptable response. No one from our family has lifted the wiper blade and the vehicle has been either garaged or kept in our driveway. Wipers have only been operated in rain and NEVER under heavy snow. I asked that if two service departments and corporate couldnt explain why this happened TWICE IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT, how could they write it off as coincidence? Nobody could offer us an explanation or even a firm indication that this wouldnt happen again. No compensation whatsoever was offered at all.BMW corporate resolutions then stated that perhaps someone lifted the hood and/or wipers incorrectly. Again, I responded that no one in our family has done so. Of course, conveniently for BMW, there is no way to prove this since I havent had a video camera on my car at all times since purchase. I stated then that this only left supposedly trained technicians at two different certified BMW dealerships that touched our car. Ruth ** from corporate, then agreed that it could be a possibility that these professionals could have damaged our car, twice. Unlikely but the only explanation offered. End Result: Left with a $50K+ 2014 X3 that apparently hates its own hood. We also need to be paranoid about using our wiper blades. If third instance occurs, we will most likely look into PA Lemon Laws. May simply trade in or sell X3 for a brand that actually has a sense of corporate responsibility. Conclusion? #shouldhaveboughtAudi

Im in the military, and when I went to look at cars they told me leasing was the way to go. When I explained that I move a lot and that the chances of me still being in the area when the lease was over were slim they said that wasnt an issue. They said they worked with military people all the time and knew how everything went. Well 3 years goes by and I have to turn in my car. I was told if I turned it in with miles to use Id be reimbursed. I was 8,000 miles under didnt get a penny. Then I am told I have to pay a 300 dollar fee for not getting another BMW. So I was not happy to say the least... then a year later I get a bill for property tax in a state Im not a resident in and never even registered the car in.Apparently they like to leave out that because you lease it means the title belongs to them not you and the states dont allow the exceptions because the title is owned by BMW. Horrible experience trying to deal with this and in the end had to pay a tax I never should have had to pay. Stay away from BMW leasing if you are a Soldier.

We purchased a CPO X50i from BMW about 14 months ago. Out of the 14 months, the vehicle has spent about 9 months in the dealership getting repaired. We’ve dealt with the typical drivetrain malfunction issues, which seems BMW techs aren’t well trained on how to fix. Each time that the vehicle would be picked up from service, within the day the same or new issue would occur. We even tried going to a different BMW dealership to see if we had better luck and my service advisor advised that I get rid of the car and there wasn’t anything else they can do. I finally contacted BMW North America and opened up a PUMA case. They claim to give me an update every week, yet I never get any updates. Bring the vehicle is t financed through BMW financial, we’ve been stuck having to make payments for a vehicle that isn’t in any operating conditions. In fact, twice the vehicle had heavy smoke and started to heat up, where the smoke was going into the cabin. I was driving with my son, who was scared for his life as we thought the vehicle was about to catch on fire. Being we were driving on the highway, it would be some time till I could pull over to safety. BMW NA asked us for our financials and contract for the vehicle purchase, but nothing has been done. We have officially been consistently in a loaner for over 5 months. I’m sick of it, it’s not fair to us, yet we have to pay the price. We have a 2016 Mercedes S550 and it’s our 3rd one, and no issues. We also had a 2012 BMW 750 and similar issues. I’m giving BMW 2 weeks to make this right.

So I leased a 2020 430 convertible in July 2019. A month later driving the car in 90° weather after two hours of driving the air-conditioning broke. Brought the car back to the dealership, they said the problem was fixed. A month later same situation. Brought it back, he said it was fixed. The following summer in 90° weather same situation after a few hours of driving air-conditioning stopped. Brought it to a different dealership, problem was fixed, it was not. Currently two weeks ago in June, driving back from the Jersey shore and 98° weather I stopped at a rest stop and left my daughter and my dog in the car. When I came back I found that the air conditioner had stopped, my daughter who has down syndrome, my dog suffered mild heatstroke. Contacted Bmw multiple times. They tell me that nothing is wrong with the car. And have yet to buy me out of my lease. So worst company ever, this car is a lemon. There’s nothing but problems with these BMWs. Do not purchase or lease then.

When we spoke on December 9, 2011, about the poor experiences at the service department, I was hopeful that it would not repeat itself in the near future. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I must report to you of the poor service yet again experienced. Whether or not you or anyone else cares, I leave that up to your business decisions; however, from the consumers stand point, if asked about my experiences at Silver Spring BMW, I would have to inform then that purchasing the vehicle was great; however, the service department is the worse that I have seen in more than 34 years of driving. As anyone knows, any vehicle needs servicing over the life time, but think twice about purchasing a vehicle from Silver Spring BMW because the service department is just poor. People are polite and they have a smile on their faces but what is promised to the customer is not given to the customer.I will be happy to meet with you to inform you of my experience, but yet again, an appointment was set on December 9, 2011, for this day (December 20, 2011) at 7:30 am. And, despite several email reminders that my appointment was scheduled at 7:30am, and an assurance from Juan L/N/U that I could be taken at 7:30 am, and being the second vehicle waiting at the front doors to open, I had to wait because my advisor had another previously scheduled customer. I decided to leave in complete disgust with the overall operation and process. Whether or not you have a Good Ole Boy system in place, who knows. And of course, a business is welcomed to have a Good Ole Boy system in place; if that is your business model, thats your choice and customers should know.Nevertheless, when you believe that Silver Spring BMW is able to schedule an appointment at an appropriate time to have my windshield repairs, please advice. Of course, I am left to the mercy of Silver Spring BMW. Thanking you in advance for your time and attention to this matter. Have a Happy Holiday Season.

I have never been more in love with a car! I’m still learning new things about this car and I’ve had it over a year now. When it comes to features, this car does not disappoint. I love the fact that it has an interior motion sensor and tilt sensor, you’ll know if anyone ever tries to jack your wheels. I love that this car has manual mode and sports program for performance driving. My car has been a very reliable car, still runs just as good as the day I bought it.

I took my BMW 328i with 48,000 miles in to the BMW Birmingham service department on a Friday afternoon for a new battery. I was told by the service advisor that it needed coils, a new belt, belt tensioner, and some type of “boot” due to an oil leak. They quoted my over $2,000 for the repair. I told them I could not afford that much unexpected repair work and agreed to the battery and coils, which they said were a minimum to get the vehicle running properly at a cost of about $1,250. I also told them that my 16-year-old daughter drives the vehicle to school (around 5-10 miles a day) and that I was having it repaired because she wanted to drive it to a school dance the following day. 10 days later and less than 100 miles following the $1,250 repair, the vehicle was towed to the private garage of a retired BMW technician due to a coolant leak. After he inspected the vehicle, he told me that there was nothing wrong other than the radiator hose clamp had been removed and slid down the hose at the heater core. This could be seen easily by a BMW technician. He repaired the vehicle by reconnecting the hose/hose clamp and replacing the coolant.I called Birmingham BMW 6 times without a return call over a 10 day period and went by the dealership in-person once to speak with them about my issue and no one would talk with me. When I asked to speak with a manager and for a business card for the manager I was told that everyone was in a meeting and that they did not give out business cards. I persisted for a contact in writing for management and the wrote a name and number on a post-it note.I shared this with BMW of North America and asked for help contacting the dealership. I received a call from a service advisor the following day, who proceeded to make excuses when I shared my concerns then he transferred me to a service manager who acted in disbelief when I told him what happened to me. I shared my concern that the service department was pushy about the need for service with urgency to do it quickly before something broke and rendered the car undriveable. I question this culture within the dealership and asked the service manager how a technician could miss something as obvious as a clamp that had been disconnected and slid down the hose? I was told that the technician would not see an issue with the cooling system since he was working on the battery/coil pack/electrical system. To which I replied, then how did they find issues related to an oil leak and the belt and belt tensioner? And they had no response other than they would check into it. I have had no further response and feel that I cannot trust BMW Birmingham, Alabama to service my vehicle.

I have a 2007 BMW 335 with 68,000. I took it to the dealer and came up with $3600 repairs. How can a reputable car manufacturer produce cars that have an oil leak and to repair it, you need to remove the casket of the engine for a car with such a low mileage? I am saying goodbye to BMWs. Their official dealer garage shop is clearly stating that their cars cannot compete with those of other manufacturers such as Lexus where one can go up to 100,000 miles without any major repair.

Loved this car when I bought it a couple of years back. Maybe I got ripped on the service costs a bit but needed a battery pretty early on which ran me about $250, needed tires and brakes 2 summers ago ($1300), then needed an alternator and valve cover gasket replacement about 2 months ago ($1700). Three days later check engine light is back on, oil dripping under the car and it smells like burnt oil again- take it back to shop (indy not BMW) hoping valve cover gasket failed or was installed improperly and lo and behold they want another $1300 to replace the oil pan gasket. Could be the oil filter gasket but at this point its just too much. Ive had Hondas, Infinitis, Chryslers, Nissans, etc. and have never had this much trouble with a vehicle. Some of it is definitely bad luck but this is the worst vehicle experience Ive ever had. Dont get me wrong, the car is awesome but I cant keep the check engine light off enough to enjoy driving it. Its really not even the money at this point, I just cant keep it out of the shop and its not really reliable anymore. I would be afraid to take it on a long trip which is a shame. Actually looking to trade this in on an Infiniti G37x.

Purchased a 2006 750li with 36k miles. Had it 8 months so far, in what I thought was good condition only to find out that its riddled with problems and manufacturer defects. First, key fob went dead, required car to be towed to the dealer losing a week of use and $1500. Two months later, the water pump went out and was informed that the vacuum pump was leaking oil. The control arm bushings were bad and the power brake was leaking as well. $9500 later everything was supposed to be fixed, a week into the repair the restraint system developed a fault. Reading online, it seems not only that BMW is aware of the problem but recalled the power brake issue and the restraint system issue, however, when calling BMW of Dallas, I was informed they could not cover the repairs. When I mentioned previous repairs they said these are normal wear items. Since when do all the control arm bushings, vacuum pump and water pump go out at 40k miles. I paid a lot of money for this car and expect BMW to honor their vehicles problems instead of pointing fingers and trying to put blame elsewhere. I am being quoted $2200 for a new seat belt module bringing my grand total repair bill to over $15000.00 for a car thats worth $30k. I understand normal wear and maintenance but the repairs in question should not be considered wear and tear at this stage or mileage in the vehicles run.

Self-adjusting strut replaced, after replacement the strut would not inflate; $900 part. Next, they stated it must be the modulation computer; replaced $900, still did not inflate. Next, they said it must be the pump, $900. Still did not work. This cost a towing fee of $200 also, the vehicle had been in their shop for the six weeks. They have now returned it to local authorized BMW repair center. The strut is deflated, causing all struts to deflate making the car undriveable without destroying all struts. Now after paying them, they tell me to drive the x5 back to them and they will take a look at it.I had to rent or borrow for seven weeks. I have paid them because they stated the x5 was repaired, but after paying them and going out to pick up my car, drove to city where I live and by the time I arrived, the struts were deflated. Now it sits having to be towed again to Little Rock BMW for $200.

On Sunday, my son, whom drives a 2008 328xi was driving, when all of a sudden, abs, dcs and critical engine malfunction lights came on and the car shut off. He swerved off the road and managed not to hit anything or anyone. The people behind him were all ok as well. God was watching my child. We towed the car to BMW and when they called me with an estimate I was shocked. I asked one question, why was there no warning lights that would warn him that his engine was going to malfunction? I was told, sometimes a person wakes up in the morning and by the afternoon they had a heart attack and die. Wow! When I said that my child was the one driving, I was told, if I cared so much about my child, I should think about putting my child in a newer car that does not have 111,000 miles on it. No words! When I purchased the car 4 years ago, it had 50,000 miles on it. The salesman told me that a BMW engine just starts to put at 100,000 miles. Funny, how when something goes wrong, then its an old car. Currently, there are 57 BMWs around me that are being sold at BMW dealerships with mileage over 100,000 and they are not cheap. I am upset and saddened that a BMW service tech would be as insensitive and a whole lot more.

I acknowledge that there are reams of reports on early transmission failures in the E46. My 2003/325 transmission failed at 70,000 miles. However, Im not sure how many reports exist of transmission failure twice in the same car, as I experienced recently. Interestingly this occurred again at an interval of roughly 70,000 miles in the new transmission. As far as I know, BMW continues to deny culpability. Certainly, I would be eager to participate in legal action.

The husband and I both have BMWs. Mine is a 2010 and his is a 2011. After getting extremely crummy service at Fairfax BMW in Fairfax, VA, we decided to try Sterling BMW in Sterling, VA. Surely BMW doesnt hand out their Center of Excellence awards all willy-nilly-like, right? Well, apparently, they did in 2010. While there are many additional detailed points of their suckage, I will provide you the highlights:I took the 2010 in to get new tires. After spending $2000 on 4 new kicks mounted and balanced and alignment for the old girl, they wanted to charge us over $100 to fill the tires with Nitrogen. While I understand its a business, dont nickel and dime me when I just dropped $2000. After finally getting my car back, we drove it home. Traffic was a little rough that evening, so we werent going terribly fast. The next day, however, we noticed a major wobble. The vibration was so bad, the side mirrors were shaking. I got to work and felt like I had driven a jackhammer instead of my luxury car. I took it back in on Monday. They finally called on Tuesday, claiming it was two bad tires. Alright, fine. When we went to pick up my car, they couldnt find it. Let me repeat that. When I went to go rescue my car, they had misplaced it. It took the entire service department, a few of the sales guys and over an hour to find it. Immediately after picking it up, we magically had squeaky brakes that we had never had before. The sad thing is that Id rather listen to the brakes than to BMW Sterlings horrible excuses.During the same time, we had my husbands SUV in for several items that BMW Fairfax couldnt fix after repeated visits. These included brakes, slipping transmission, air conditioning and a rattle in the tailgate. They had the Bears car for over a week. They replaced the brakes and fixed the AC. They could not, however, recreate the slipping transmission and they said they could not hear the rattle, despite the fact that they let the technician drive our car home one night (Im still reeling at that one especially when they asked my husband if that would be okay and he said no)! Of course, we heard the rattle in the tailgate as soon as we left the dealership. Call us crazy, I guess. We changed from Audi over to BMW because of service issues. We had a 5 series and a Mini Cooper prior to getting our current cars. When we got these cars in San Francisco, we were in love with the cars and the dealership/service. At this point, we are about a millisecond away from switching to Mercedes. Apparently, our paltry two-car household matters not to the auto giant. Between the incompetence, attitude and just overall cheapness, I cant see spending another cent with BMW. Dare I say lemon? I dare.Ha! So we got a call from BMW USA. After playing phone tag for 3 weeks, the Rep rushed us through our side of what has happened. She kept saying she was sorry we felt that way anytime we mentioned how disappointed we were about the crummy service or the shoddy quality. When she asked what we wanted, DH mentioned we would love to be able to just settle things amicably without having to consult a lemon-law lawyer. She said that if that was what we wanted to do, go ahead. This doesnt bode well for their Customer Service. I will update with results.Update #2: We were promised a resolution within 3-5 business days. We are on the 4th business day and just got a call from BMW USA to tell us they dont have a resolution yet. Surprise, surprise. And, there is no update on when we will know something. We are not surprised one single bit, aside from the fact that they called at all. What do you want to bet that they will wait until we make our next payment in 6 days and then call to tell us they cant do anything?Update #3: My husband finally called and was told we would hear something early in the week during the week of 7/16. They are supposedly waiting to hear something from Fairfax BMW. Im not holding my breath.Another update: We were supposed to hear from Customer Service last week. Nada. DH called on Friday, 7/20, and asked for her extension. It rang and someone else answered. DH requested our rep and was asked what it was in regard to. He told her we are trying to give back our lemon. She said she would look up our case, looked up the information and surprise! She couldnt find anything. He asked then to get transferred to our reps phone and he left a message requesting a call back that day. Again, nothing. We got a call back from her today, 7/23. The phone didnt ring; we just got a voice mail. We called her back and havent heard a peep since then.We are giving her until tomorrow pm to get back with us and if we dont hear from her, we will be foregoing the niceties and proceeding directly past go to a lemon lawyer. In the midst of all this, other things have stopped working on the X5. The rear camera works occasionally, but it chooses when and where. The auto-telescoping steering wheel has stopped working. The transmission is still jerky. My opinion? Do not buy a BMW!

BMW Financial is irresponsible and incompetent in managing consumer account
BMW Financial is irresponsible and incompetent in managing consumer accounts. I had an account with BMW and made payments through Moneygram over a period of four months. Moneygram was not informed BMW was no longer using their services, even though each payment appeared to be received by BMW Financial. My car broke down. I took it to the dealer and it was repossessed for non payment, even though I had receipts indicating payments had been made. As a result, I was stranded in another state with a child. And they wouldnt accept the payments, even though cash was offered to immediately cover the payments they purportedly didnt receive. I will never buy another BMW or deal with their financial services, which appear to be managed by over zealous teens. They have no future other than pretending to have authority over people who drive cars they otherwise probably couldnt afford.

I own a 2007 335i, which I purchased from BMW dealer, and always had it serviced by a BMW dealer. Around 35,000 miles I began having repeated problems with oil leaks, the service engine light would constantly come on and the engine wasnt performing properly. I was told that the codes just needed to be reset and that the problems were fixed. A few days later the check service engine light came on again. I went back to the dealership and was told it was the code for the fuel pump plausibility and all they had to do was to reset it with the software and it would be fine.A week later the same thing happened. This time around I asked them to take a look at the issue. I once again was told that the problem was fixed and that the codes just needed to be reset. The check engine light would come on regularly and I was always told the same thing - that it was due to the software update but the car had no issues.I took my car in to the dealership right before 50,000 miles and before the warranty expired to have an oil change and at that time I was told that the car had an oil leak and the fuel pump had to be replaced. They replaced it and reset the codes once again. I explained the car was not driving properly, as it would jolt and it wouldnt accelerate. The service rep said he would check on that and make the necessary repairs. I left the dealership and on my way home the service engine light came on once again. I went back to the dealership and was told they needed to reset the codes again.A few months later, I noticed the car was leaking oil and the engine was not running properly. The service engine light was also back on. I took it to the dealership and was told it was the fuel pump, and there was a problem with the turbochargers and engine. I was told it would not be covered under the warranty as the warranty had just expired. I had them do them complete the repairs as it was necessary. In less than 24 months, Ive had to have the fuel pump and oil gaskets replaced three times. The car went into limp mode as I was driving on a busy intersection and just turned off in the middle of traffic, putting my life as well as other drivers lives in danger. I was struck from behind by a van because the driver didnt anticipate me just stopping without warning. This a huge safety issue and BMW needs to be held accountable for withholding this information from customers. I had to have my car towed to the dealership and they refuse to warranty the defective items.I called BMW North America and spoke Leah in Customer Affairs and she informed me that it was up to the dealership if they wanted to apply the warranty or not. She said it is not up to the corporate office to make those decisions. I also demanded a copy of all my service maintenance records from the BMW dealership where I had the car serviced and they refused to provide them to me.I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Ross at BMW corporate office. I told him I wanted a copy of all my maintenance records from the SM BMW dealership emailed to me, as I couldnt go there in person but needed to the records to show proof that I had the fuel pump repaired numerous times. He told me he called over to the dealership and requested the records but they refused to email them to me and proceeded to say that they dont have to give me those records.I was beyond appalled that I would be treated that way, after all I had been through given they sold me a product with a manufacturers defect. I explained that the dealership was charging me over $5,500 for the fuel pump and oil gasket repair, yet I had already paid over $8,000 to have it repaired numerous times. The dealership refused to warranty the defective items. I am beyond disgusted with their lies, fraudulent practices and their sheer incompetence. Ive decided to retain legal counsel at this point.

I purchased a BMW-X1 series from Sanghi Classic (BMW showroom) at Jaipur on 16/8/12. Now its total running kilometer is 14,214 km till date. But after that, we found that my vehicle is not running properly - On speed of 100 km, my vehicle trembles automatically which may cause serious accident at any time. We have a Honda CRV for the last 5 years and have changed the tires of the vehicle, and now, after running for more than 100,000 km, there is no damage in any of the tires. But in just running for 14,214 km of the BMW vehicle, we found that the condition of the tire is worst from the inside and in a very worst condition and is very risky to drive or travel. So please look in to the matter and replace the same with a new one. Thanks and regards.

I dont know where you went to have your oil changed, but I do know most of the drive thru oil change places have poor, untrained employees who know nothing about cars, changing your oil. Its very possible one of these employees introduced oil to your cooling system via the overflow tank which could have long term effects on your engine, water pump, etc. I believe if you are a BMW owner or German car owner in general, you need to have some basic automotive understanding which would include NOT taking your car to any random oil change place. Learn how to do it yourself using the correct oil, filter and tools, and it can be so rewarding. Or take it to someone who cares about your car as much as you do...

We bought a car two years ago from a local BMW dealer. Apparently, a class action had been filed for this particular car (a 2000 228CI) for sub-frame tearing. In their settlement, they only notified their first owners. This year, we ended up with sub-frame tearing. The cost of repair was $6000. We want this covered. They offered to cover $1000 if we promised to never sue them. We have signed nothing. We would like an attorney to contact us about the complaint and we would like to have the full cost of repairs covered as this is a safety issue. We have pictures and the original part. Sub-frame tearing? SUB-FRAME tearing? I had never even heard of this!

I bought a 2003 Dinan 525i used with ~60K on it. In the last 7 years Ive logged another 180K+ on it. While I have had to do repairs (I work on it myself) it is nothing out of the ordinary; tires, brakes, coolant system rebuild (pump, radiator, fan clutch, overflow tank and pulleys/belt), alternator, O2 sensors, vanos seals and intake rubber ducting, all gearbox fluids changed. It is all to be expected for a car of this age. I have no complaints as the car has served me well. Some interior trim has broken or weathered and has been replaced, and the sunroof tracks will get replaced this summer. I am getting it detailed to celebrate its 250K milestone. This car owes me nothing! It has served me well and I have no indication that its getting tired.

I owned a 2008 BMW 335i and experienced the same issue that is being recalled on the 2010- 012 models. I now own a CPO 2011 335i and the starting my car sounds as if the car hasnt been cranked in 2 months. While in park the engine is super loud and revs for no apparent reason. The dealerships are nothing but vacuums for money. After having a tire replaced for the 2008 at one dealership, the water pump failed less than 5 feet of the service garage door; but I was told this was normal and could happened. Please note that the car never had any warning signs of overheating or loss of a/c power or anything. This was $1200 to fix. The service manager was smug and uninterested in my concerns. His only offer was to allow me to leave my car on their premises and charge me a fair rate for renting a car. On the same 2008 model, I was driving on the expressway and out of the blue my car loses engine power and goes into safe mode. This was $800 to fix. I contacted BMW customer care and the rep couldve cared less, telling me I was out of warranty and nothing they could do about it. Re: 2007X3. Many times since, approximately the vehicle had 60K miles, prior to my 100k miles warranty running out, even though I was experiencing problems with my transmission (i.e. not shifting properly, clunking when shifting, noise and jerking when shifting), the Service Dept. told me there was nothing wrong. Now that I have 120k miles on it and my X3 will not go into AWD, I am told by Erhard that my transmission differential needs a $1,400 repair. I have never missed maintenance and at the last maintenance, I was complaining about my transmission.I would like my transmission problem fixed at no cost to me. It seems BMW, blew me off to get me through until my warranty was up (extended to 100k that I paid for). Very disappointing and too costly for me. My wife and I both own BMWs and will be going to a different make vehicle because of the deceitful treatment I have received. I took my car to a certified BMW mechanic and he informed me that there is a known oil leak with BMW 750li NG3 engine but BMW refuse to fix or change the engine. I got up this morning and wrote a letter of complaint and when I was looking for the Customer Complaint information for BMW I found this website. I went through and read all the posted complaints and I see I am not the only owner who is having oil leak and my air conditioner going out.It seem to be a big problem with BMWs and I am very disappointed but I refuse to drive a car that smokes, leaking oil and the air conditioner not cooling properly. I work for a major transportation company and I am going to be sure I let everyone I work with know the problems I am having with the so call Ultimate Driving Machine. I was informed by the BMW dealership that my certified 2017 BMW X1 needed a motor mount replaced. The car has 30K miles and I had driven 5K in a little over a year that I owned the car. The warranty does not cover the motor mount however, after only 30K miles, the part must be defective. Furthermore, the cost was quoted as close to $1500. BMW customer service, after speaking with the dealer negotiated the cost down to $600+. I told the BMW rep that it was still not acceptable and would he send me the details of his conversation with me to my Email. I wished to pursue the matter. He said that was not possible! I could not appeal the decision and that was final. I rarely have been spoken to in such a manner as if I were an errant school girl. A take it or leave it attitude. Very shocked about how the BMW company is represented. I would characterize the rep as a junkyard dog. There to discourage the customers. I have an appointment to have the part replaced outside the dealership and the cost will be less than $300. I will also be writing a review of the BMW dealership.

I bought an 18 month old BMW 520d 2010 version on the basis of the fuel economy stats of 60+ mpg on the open road and 44 mpg in urban areas. I purchased the car from Vines Approved BMW dealer in Guildford, Surrey, UK. In practice, the car is only giving me 40 mpg on the open road and 25 in urban areas. I was given an as new warranty from the dealer and they have fully checked the car and they say that all the parts work fine, .etc but the practical answer is that they dont. A gap of 20mpg between advertised and actual performance is simply not close enough to be ignored. My legal question relates to the product description being completely misleading in their advertising and now they are hiding behind parts performance rather than the operating performance that they sell the car on. I have asked for them to either buy the car back or give me compensation based upon actual performance relative to that which is promised and they have rejected me. I would be most interested to know if others have had similar experience and whether I have legal grounds to pursue them.

I have a 2008 BMW 328i which I purchased new and I purchased an extended warranty as well. I have multiple vehicles so I dont drive my vehicle often. The vehicle currently has around 14,000 miles on it. I took the vehicle in yesterday because it appeared there was a problem with the battery. My husband received a phone call today from BMW in Elk Grove, advising that the battery needs to be replaced and is not covered under the warranty because I dont drive it enough (driver error). The price of a new battery is $453 (he claims this is with a 15% discount) and the battery must be purchased from a BMW dealership because it could create a problem for the computer if purchased from an auto parts store. The BMW representative stated that it would have been covered had it been a defective battery, but the computer states that I dont drive it enough. He stated that I will need to keep it on a trickle charger when not in use. I have kept up on all of my maintenances and services, which were completed at BMW and not once did a BMW representative advise me that I could be running into a problem with the battery because of my low mileage. At this point I am just livid that I have babied my vehicle. I purchased an extended warranty and I have to come out of pocket $453. At this point I have no choice but to pay the $453; however, I feel that this should have been covered by the warranty and not been viewed as operator error.

After receiving a recall letter from BMW for the brake vacuum pump (recall campaign no. 10v-446), I took the car to Crevier BMW but was told they didnt have the part. I never heard back from Crevier BMW, and I forgot about it until the brakes completely failed without warning. I had the car towed to the nearest dealer in Irvine. They replaced the vacuum supply line but not the vacuum pump. They recommended that I replace the leaking vacuum pump at my cost of over $900. The description of the problem included in the recall letter from BMW specifically indicates that the leak from the vacuum pump into the vacuum hose is the root of the problem. I spoke to Jody ** at BMW and she said that the recall is a federal mandate and this mandate only requires them to replace the line and not the pump.I have owned BMW cars for more than 12 years, you would think they would stand behind their product and keep a loyal customer happy. They truly do not care about the customer. They will only take care of the problem if the car is leased and/or under warranty, and even then, theyll put off the work until the car is out of warranty.I have had a new 750Li since 2006. From the beginning, the engine oil light would come on and I would have to take the car in to be topped off. I kept asking why I had to do this so often and they assured me that it was normal for the 750. I had a new 745 before this car and I never had this problem. I didnt worry about it since there was no sign of a leak on my garage floor. Now that the car is out of warranty, they tell me that there is a leak.

I leased 2014 328i since Feb. 2014 and has 4600 miles on it and just went to BMW service for the fourth time with same issues. First they cant duplicate the issue then second time foreman got into my car and verified the noise. Third time, they could not verify again when the noise still continues and fourth time, I decide to take it to different BMW service center and the mechanic sat with me and verified the noise is there and wrote on service report. But, as I picking it up the noise were still there and I notified BMW north America but no response. What should I do? Should I hire a lawyer? Or is it something I can deal with BMW North America?

My BMW X5 diesel 2017 has 16000 miles and has died 2 times in the middle of the road. Abruptly stopped, almost hit twice in the side and rear end. I had a BMW 535 diesel and the same experience at 36,000+ miles. All 3 times, major fuel pump failures with no advanced warning. Stranded two times, 4 hour tow wait time! Uhg! Glad I had AAA towing as a backup!

How many of you guys have had to replace your door handles on your BMW X5 from the year 2005 to 2008? How many of you had to replace your windows and how many times have you had to do it? Theres a defect - very very bad defective thing in their door handles to the point where they will break and you cannot get in or out of your vehicle. Also with the windows they will fall all the way into your car like theyre not like its not heavy enough to hold it. Okay its a shame that all of us have had to go through this and we repair it and we dont ever do anything about it. If I would have known that I wouldnt have purchased it. I cant get in my car from the outside at all without going through a window after breaking my car every time I want to drive it. Its a BMW X5 2005. Thats a shame. Should no luxury vehicle have a handle broke on a car. Ive never met or seen a car that had a broken door handle or is that the windows just fall down into it like the wires are not heavy enough. But BMW does not want to admit that its a defect. I dont know why theres no class action lawsuit but I will warn you do not buy yourself a BMW X5. The handles will break and you will repair them all of them. You will not be able to get into your car okay. Dont even do it. Its not even worth it their alternators. The car goes through alternators like its going out of style. Every time you turn around youll be buying a new alternator because the oil sticks into the alternator. These BMWs are highly defective mostly all of them. I dont know nobody who hasnt repaired a door handle. Do not buy one of these.

I have had a terrible experience with this 7 series. This car jerks at times giving me a Drive Train Malfunction and the car becomes extremely unstable. This has happened 2 - 3 times already since I bought this car. Service Center (BMW Murray Motors - Denver) says Fuel Injectors are bad and so this issue. They replace Fuel injectors and the problem comes back after 2 months. Extremely dissatisfied and angry. I am paying too much money every month and have no peace of mind. In addition to this issue I have had other issues as well. My first impression Car: Terrible Car. Please do not buy BMW!!!

I have been purchasing and driving BMWs since 2002 and have purchased or leased 9 different NEW BMWs for myself, my son and my wife over the past 12 years. As a driving machine it is awesome, but their Bluetooth and Navigation software is beyond terrible... it is USELESS! The navigation software is only useful if the address has existed for more than 40 years in some cases, and every year, BMW tries to sell you an updated navigation disc for $200.00 - are you kidding me? The Bluetooth phone software is at least three years old on my 2012 X5 and even with their software update, it is at least two years behind current technology. I had to search for and buy a retro cell phone that BMW claims works in my car, but it DOES NOT! The software repeatedly drops calls and now its even dropping my phone from the system, causing me to repeatedly have to add new phone in the telephone Bluetooth menu; a process that can take several attempts and in one case more than an hour. I was doing this at least twice a week until I just said the hell with it and now dont use my phone through the BMW Bluetooth system. This is a huge inconvenience for me, as I make a lot of calls from my car in conjunction with my business. This has become so bad that I cannot use my phone in the car, unless I stop, turn on my Bose Bluetooth earpiece and make the call directly from my phone. I have complained to BMW numerous times, but quite frankly, they dont care. Their excuse is that BMW doesnt actually make the software, but purchases it from another vendor. When I pay in excess of $83,000.00 for a vehicle, I expect to be able to use my phone and access my phone book from the navigation screen and not have to stop my car and use a Bluetooth earpiece to initiate or receive a phone call. It is incomprehensible to me why BMW does not contract with a software company that will allow BMW owners to use whatever cell phone they wish and have it work properly in the car. As it stands now, only the iPhone will work in BMWs and then only certain of those and then only some of the time. I will not have an iPhone and I shouldnt have to use a phone I dont want, after spending the better part of one hundred thousand dollars for a BMW.

I have had my 2011 528I since 09-02-11. Its a great car. BMW advertises that the only thing you have to pay for is tires and gas. I complained about the $1900 NAV system, and that it was not very user friendly, and that my $200 Magellan was a much better device. I had gone to the dealer, asking for a software upgrade, as the device had trouble finding known businesses that I attempted to locate as a test of the system. I was told that it would cost me $400 for an upgrade (which they recommend 4 times a year). I can buy 2 Magellans with free lifetime upgrades for that price. When I complained to BMW USA, they told me they had no control over local dealers, and they could charge any price they wanted. So much for the Tires & Gas.

Do not purchase a BMW X5. In 5 years, it has required 20 major repairs, thats 20 ...do the math. We are running out of parts to replace. I was recently told by BMW service that I should expect $3K to $4K a year in service cost...interesting business model...manufacture a piece of (blank), but make it look really cool and then charge customers an exorbitant amount to repair it. To be fair, I owned a 528i for 8 years before the X5 and never had a problem. Only put oil in it for 8 years - great car.X5...run away...fast.

I bought my 323i in 2002 with 50,000 miles. Ive spent more on unscheduled maintenance and breakdowns in each and every year than I ever spent in the entire 17 years I owned my Honda (which racked up 240,000 virtually trouble-free miles, by the way). Now at a paltry 115,000 miles, the BMW transmission has failed and the car is a total loss due to repair cost. Is there no limit to the level of embarrassment and engineering ineptitude BMW NA will endure before they step up and address just a few of their chronic reliability issues?

I recently visited the BMW service center in about my 2007 BMW 525i, 58K old car. It stalled on the road with a huge cloud of smoke behind the car on the coldest day of the winter and I had to tow the vehicle to the service center. I did not get an appointment initially. I was told it would take at least couple of days to see the vehicle. I had no choice but leaving the vehicle at the service center. It took 10 days to get my vehicle back. I did not get the vehicle completely fixed and problem free. Nobody trust the owner of the car when I said I never found a single problem till it was stalled on the road.I was charged $2k initially. When I asked for the bad spark plugs which were replaced as part of the process, I was told they were disposed, then the representative went inside and found unused parts lying around the car and reduced that part price from the $2k he initially charged and gave me a new receipt. If I had not asked for spark plugs, I would have paid $2k and returned losing my money for the unused parts brought as part of my invoice. I am not confident if they have really replaced the parts that they are saying they did as part of the service contract. Now my car makes a chopper sound. It rattles like a old car out from the junk yard. The service manager says it could have existed before and it is continuing which is not true as nobody trust the car owner. The service guy told me that my engine is hydro locked and says that he never saw such problem in his entire experience and says that he do not know how to fix this. I am left to live with the problem. I smell the burnt odor when I drive. I do not know if it is a major problem or not. I was told if I drive the car for 1000 miles, the burnt smell will go away. One more surprising thing is, I was told they removed the entire engine oil from the engine. When they did that, is it not their responsibility to fill it back to normal level? They did not do it and told me I have to drive at least 1000 miles do get rid of the burnt smell and delivered the car. I took the car home, before I reached home it threw an error message saying the Engine Oil Levels are below minimum. What kind of service is that? Do they want to ruin my car and make me buy a new one or leave the car for more repairs and get looted? When I contacted the service center about the Engine Oil Levels, service manager asks me to come down to top off with one quart of oil. I asked him how can they deliver the car with engine oils at so minimum levels after service? I got no satisfactory answer. I have to leave the car for half day at the service center requesting (begging would be a right word here) to service my car paying $120+ more.I have no peace of mind with the car. All these problems clearly state that if you are out of warranty, just sell the car and get rid of the hassles. 58k on my car shows that it is still a baby. But the problems on the car are very scary. It is just the appearance and from inside BMW is the most problematic car I have ever experienced. I have to always worry about the battery draining because of the continuous checking of computers. The display throws all sorts of problems. Some times it stops working. Display is not a wear out part so early. Why should a customer worry about the car all the time? I have gone thru the forums. A lot of problems with 525 series. Why dont you guys recall and fix the problems? Why should the customer suffer so much paying for all the hot fixes you forgot in the first place while releasing the model? I am a very good driver and I maintain the cars very perfectly servicing them every 5k miles and taking good care. I have a Honda Odyssey 2007 model. Hassle free, not a single problem till now. Cars should be like that, hassle free. BMW is proving that luxury is a pain and a hole in customer pocket. If BMW is trustworthy as it claims, then please fix my car with no additional costs, as you did not fix the problem in the first case, despite charging me so much money and time. I hope someone will respond positively to this painful email. If not I will definitely will not buy a BMW in my life again and would not recommend to anyone. It is really painful knowing that BMW is so poorly serving customers not fixing the cars problems properly and driving customers to buy new cars.

I family had two BMW vehicles and from my personal experience I absolutely do not recommend. There are many parts that fail within the first five years costing thousands. Be very careful, and simply test drive other vehicles before settling. You will regret it once you find yourself in the dealership service department over and over. Corporate customer service will make it even worse. I called a few times for assistance because I felt I have a defective vehicle. They are arrogant, rude, and will not help you. I purchased a certified pre owned (CPO) 2006 325i sedan from Center BMW in Sherman Oaks, CA. with 54k miles for less than $30k. I was 24 years old, recent college grad, and just bought my dream car, I was happy. Within a year of purchasing, I experienced problems. The dealership fixed whatever was under warranty for the next 2 years (as per the CPO warranty). In the 6 years I have had this car, I have put on 63 miles, so now it is over 100k miles. I took care of my car and gave it whatever attention it needed, right away.Once the warranty was over, I experienced more problems that I had to pay for on my own: new Xenon headlight, all 6 pistons back firing (at different times over the 6 years), transmission gave out, power window on rear passenger side broke, window locks broke, driver side door handle/lock broke, display on radio broke, starter broke, rear view mirror broke off window, interior of steering wheel peels off, rear window molding had to be replaced twice, driver window motor stalls, passenger front door lock motor stalls, molding around passenger rear window leaks and water gets in with rain/car wash.Molding of roof racks peeling, car rattles when you turn the wheels to the furthest point possible while driving, especially on an incline, car rattles/shakes when the AC is on and car is at a complete stop, AC turns on automatically randomly, exterior lights on drivers side stay on when car is off and locked (randomly), BMW symbol on hood peeled and faded, and there is a loud, embarrassing rattle coming from underneath the car.For 20% of these problems, the dealership fixed under warranty. The rest they claimed were not under warranty and I had to pay for out of pocket. For about 30% of these problems, I took my car into the dealership 3 times and they could not figure out the cause and suggested I would fix and pay out of my pocket, even when the warranty was still valid. They claimed the warranty did not cover since they could not find the root of the cause and I would have to pay for time and labor for the dealership to take the car apart and figure out the root of the problem and then determine if the problem would be covered by warranty. The third time I caved in and paid for labor/time for the diagnostics and after all that the dealership told me the problem was not covered by warranty.Center BMW just sold me a lemon and sucked every penny out of my dream car. I finally got fed up and wrote a letter to the corporate offices explaining to them how unhappy I was with my BMW and how the dealership handled the problems and also mentioned how the lemon I purchased was a disappointment since I received a poor quality car that did not live up to the reputation BMW holds. Their response was there was nothing BMW would do once the warranty expired and the owner was responsible for all repairs.

I bought a 2011 BMW 135i (49k mileage) in the beginning of 2016 and during this short period of ownership. I have in and out the dealership(s) many times because of different kinds of failure on this Ultimate Failing Machine. The lucky thing is that I have Certified Pre-Owned Extended warranty that covers most repairs. The car has 56k mileage today. Those are the repairs I did for 9 months ownership:Weak air-conditioning due to evaporator leaking in AC system - a quote of repair cost ~$1200, fixed under warranty. DCT Transmission fluid leaking due to bad o-ring - unknown repair cost, fixed under warranty but I have to pay $2** for new DCT Transmission fluid. Otherwise they will reuse the old fluid and put them in after repair (!!!) Do you reuse toilet paper or condom(s)?Adaptive headlight control module failure - does not cover by CPO warranty. I paid $7** for the repair and reprogramming. High Pressure Fuel Pump failure and Rail pressure sensor failure - this is known issue in N54/N55 engine and the High Pressure Fuel Pump on my car failed in exact 55k mileage. The quote of repair is $17** + taxes + $175 diagnostic fee, fixed under warranty. A Xenon light bulb failure in one headlight - does not cover by CPO warranty. Paid $4** for a set of genuine BMW light bulb and DIY. Let imagine when you get this car with no warranty. How much you will have to spend on every repairs? Good luck with your BMW cars.

I bought a 2007 BMW M6 Convertible in September 2009, paid over $70,000.00 as a CPO. Ever since then, I have taken it in to multiple dealers to have the malfunctioning top fixed. After almost twenty (20) attempts, it is still not fixed. You read correctly, 20 attempts! Now, they say its a hydraulic issue from wear and tear that is not covered by the CPO warranty. Total repair cost was over $5,200.00. Do they really think I will pay for something that they havent been able to repair after 20 attempts? And even if I paid this, they still will not guarantee that this will fix the problem that I have been dealing with over the last 2 years. How can there be wear and tear if it hasnt worked most of the time anyway? I contacted BMW North America. They offered me a lousy $1,500.00 to make me go away. I thought it was an insult to injury type of move. I even offered to pay thousands more to upgrade to a newer model year of the M6, at which point, the local dealer wanted to make thousands off of my misfortunes which killed the deal on a car in FL that I had found! I am ready to take the gloves off and take this as far as I need to up the corporate ladder. BMW, this is your last chance. Fix this wrong or I will fight this to my last days!

I own a BMW 545i for years. I want to tell the world what a piece of crap this 65,000 $$$ car is. I mean really BMW sure did a number on everybody with this v8 engines. I want to share all my problems with this car with you guys. DME or ECU replacement and programming $ 3300.00. Alternator bracket leak $800.00. Timing cover and valve cover oil leaks $ 1800.00. Water pump replacement $600.00. Check this one out, engine transfer coolant pipe $2000.00 and thats using the bimmer pipe. Thanks to the guys. They invented this wonderful pipe that save me $5000.00. Yeah. BMW want it 7k for this job. AC heater valves $200.00, AC compressor $1050. Im the second owner of this car. I bought it with 40,000 miles. Now the car has 74,000 miles and more problems. Now the car doesnt want to start. It cant keep idle. I think its the throttle body or it could be the DME again-- look guys, Im sharing all of this with you guys cause I see all of this. People that want to buy a use BMW pls dont. Its cheaper to buy a glass of lemonade if you know what I mean. For me I rather died than buy a BMW new or used. Again thats all I have to said about that. BMW should really pay for these lemons that have sold over the years to people. Thanks for reading my frustrations.

I recently purchased a 2008 530I with light front damage. Luckily I had taken electronics in high school and 300ZXs had first EFI Computers, Digital, dashes, vibrating seats, Turbochargers, alarms, 145MPH shut offs. I bought like new wrecked cars, stripping the electronics out immediately, keeping them from the weather, giving me testing equipment and quickly made me famous around Kentucky and Indiana. When I saw the dealer bills, (Thousands) I raised my prices up a little and bought more nice wrecked cars. My 2008 BMW calls for a $950.00 positive battery terminal, in order to start from the ignition. It took me two weeks to read online about how BMW had gone crazy on parts prices and dealer ripoffs. They are crazy on parts prices now. I fixed it for 200, the dealer wants 1,500 including reprogramming the car. You must have a special tool to install into the plug for the troubleshooting device to save the programs $100.

This car just fell apart. Its a 2008 BMW 750Li. The transmission went bad, the electronics went out and the worst part was the door would just open and not close when moving. I complained and they said they would recall but I have not heard anything about fixing the cars. A rep sends me an email for almost a year now many more saying that BMW in Germany is working on it. I had to get rid of the car because it was unsafe. I dont want the car fixed. I want compensation for my anxiety. Who protects consumers... who fights for the rights of the consumer. The complaints seem to disappear from the web after a period of time.

Purchased a 2005 BMW X3 in 2009 with 20K miles on it, purchased as a BMW Certified with the full 100K (or 6 year) warranty. At some point around 40K miles, I noticed the anti-freeze overflow tank had oil mixed in it. I took it to BMW and was given a tongue lashing for allowing Valvoline to change my oil. Not only did they state Valvoline put oil in the anti-freeze reservoir, they gave me a letter and advised me to take legal action. Instead, I opted to pay BMW $1200 to total flush the entire system of oil. A few months later the water pump went out (under warranty) and I was advised once again I had oil in my anti-freeze. Once again I was fooled by the BMW liars as they told me it was probably just left over from the previous incident. Finally while I was driving one day the engine started to run hot, being that I work literally 2 blocks from BMW I drove the car over to be checked out. By this time the car had run out of its BMW warranty, and lo and behold they said I had oil in the anti-freeze and that I would now need to pay them $4K to replace the head as the thought it was cracked. Now they couldnt really tell me that would fix the car and the only other option they gave me was to replace the engine $6K.I have all of the paper trails, I called BMW USA, I tried to get the people at Swope BMW Louisville to work with me but they would not. At the end of the day, nobody could ever tell me how I was getting oil in the antifreeze....a cracked head and/or blown head gasket would result in antifreeze in the oil, what I had was exactly opposite. Rolling the dice, I took the car to a very reputable shop in Louisville and paid the $2500 to replace the head gasket...a repair which did not work.I have owned 2 new BMWs. I will never, ever, ever even look at another one of these cars. The dealers are under a huge amount of duress and will not do whats right for the consumer. My warranty was worth nothing as they (BMW) milked it out until my car was no longer covered before telling me the engine was shot. Since then I have leased a 2013 Mazda CX5 AWD GT for my wife, and purchased a 2013 Honda Civic Ex for my son. I have plenty of money to spend, and will never spend another dime on these pieces of human excrement who represent BMW.

BMW offered me exceptionally POOR Support for their 1984-91 BMW 524td engine. BMW’s customer support was as though they had never built the engine or even heard of it. Finding parts became a worldwide internet search nightmare, as USA dealers were ZERO assistance. BMW routinely changes part numbers, but apparently leaves no follow-up reference to find the part one seeks. I ended up contacting BMWs CHAIRMAN Harald Kruger with a message that lifted him off his chair. The immediate result from Krugers office was that BMW had found the unobtainable and extinct parts I requested... But at DOUBLE their advertised price. I own a certified BMW 335d. In June of 2015 the check engine light went on for the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Tank malfunctioning. This is a device that is needed to make the car USA emissions compliant. I was told by my dealer that the part was on back order for 2 weeks and to continue to drive the car. After 2 months I decided to call BMW Customer care to let them know I needed to register my car in California in October and it needed to pass a smog check. With the check engine light it will not pass, thus making my car fall out of registration. They told me they would help me. After numerous promised dates for the part to fix my car, they told me mine was on top priority and I would get the next one in from Germany. I spoke with my dealer and they told me that since my part was ordered, they received 5 at their dealership that went to other clients that were ahead of me on the list. Their cars did not have the same registration issue as mine, so the priority for those cars to get fixed should be lower. I was not told the truth by BMW of North America. The next one is plain and simple--the next one. BMW of North America is saying it is the field representative that is responsible for the dates and the dealer is telling me it is BMW N.A. Bottom line is they lied to me that I was on top priority and they are giving me the runaround. As of today I am stuck with a car I was told to drive that is now out of registration. Its really nice to make car payments that you cannot drive. BMW absolutely does not care about the customer and they are trained to give customers false answers. They are quite rude on the phone as well. They say I understand, when they really dont care and want to get you off the phone. The customer care department has no real information and they are just put there as a facade. It comes with great pain to say this as the cars themselves are really great cars, but DO NOT BUY A BMW. Great cars, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

To all that might take an interest in this; this is my first time posting on any consumer complaint forum. So hopefully people dont make the mistake of purchasing a 2009-2014 BMW with an N63 engine and affects five different vehicle classes. These cars are lemons with a long history of mechanical problems, and a class action lawsuit filed in 2015 for excessive oil consumption, drained batteries, and other problems affected by the oil cooled parts inside the car. Visit: ** to see full notice of the court documents, and full story. The final date for filing any paperwork to claim your vehicle under the class action was October 10th 2018. Too bad BMW has failed to properly notify owners about this, and still continue to sell these cars without advising anyone about the litigation behind them.In August 2016 I purchased a used 2012 BMW 750LI M Sport with 38,482 miles. The car was sold to me by a private dealership in Los Angeles, and was a one owner lease return that originated from BMW of Santa Monica, CA. The car had a clear title, and free of defects, and I paid 42K out the door price with tax & extended warranty to protect me through 100K miles for any possible mechanical issues that could arise with the car. Since that time Ive had nothing but problems since I bought it that started with minor things like ignition coils, spark plugs, and check engine lights. Excessive oil consumption was noticed immediately the first year I owned it, and constantly had to top off the oil. Ive meticulously maintained the car since Ive had it and always taken to a certified BMW mechanic. The BMW service centers I dont trust as far as I can throw them, and use a preferred & HONEST BMW mechanic. In July 2018 I took my car into the shop to diagnose several issues going on with the car which now has 92K miles. I wanted to have my mechanic check everything including doing a brake fluid flush, and oil change prior to making another drive into Southern California from Nevada where I currently live. After inspection my mechanic mentioned that the motor was falling apart; The car had leaking turbo hoses, upper oil pan gasket leak, bad steering pump, excessive oil consumption problems, and the engine valve stem seals were shot and explained why smoke would come out of the tailpipe during cold starting, and lastly an electric short underneath the drivers seat that scorched the material underneath and could have caught fire at some point had it continued. In all I was facing $15,000 dollars to complete all repairs. We contacted my extended warranty company who handled the situation great. Due to the extent of the engine problems they sent out an adjuster to verify everything and audited my service records to ensure the car had been properly maintained, and also had video scope photos taken inside the engine of oil cooled timing chain to verify there was no engine deposits or oil gunk build up. It was clean as a whistle, and they indicated since the repairs exceeded the value of new engine they authorized a complete engine replacement in addition to fixing the electrical problems with my seat. The engine was ordered through a BMW dealership in Las Vegas NV in August, and now here we are in November 2018 and still no sign of the engine or status on when we can expect to receive it. Since July Ive had a loaner, and paid out of pocket for extensive rental fees, paying for an auto loan on a car that I cant even drive with still $24K left on it, and have had to register the vehicle as non-operable with the state DMV.After repeated attempts to get a status on the engine by myself personally and my mechanic to get a status on the replacement engine; we still have no information, and appears to be no end in sight. The only reasoning behind the delay of the engine is that they cant find anyone to make a drive camshaft on this motor. The third party company that used to make this part went out of business and they have no alternative currently. Sounded like complete B.S. to me, and I called them on it stating that it sounded like an excuse. At this point Im extremely pissed off, and decided to email BMW Group Germany to ask them if they really cared about their customers. I found the CEO & other executive level members of BMW email addresses including their press secretary. I emailed them and demanded a response to this nonsense with the engine replacement.A couple days later I received a voicemail from a Craig ** @ BMW North America customer care stating that he was calling because I was interested in a RE-PURCHASE of the vehicle. I had missed the call because I was on a business trip. I had no clue what a re-purchase entailed or what the qualifications were, but it was something that THEY suggested. I called back the very next morning which was on a Friday, and he didnt answer so left a message to call me back as soon as possible to discuss what hed mentioned on my voicemail. He waited three days to call me back and returned my call on October 10th 2018. We discussed the re-purchase over the phone which entailed buy back 100% of the vehicle financing, maintenance, and oil used for the car that I had to top off constantly. I loved that option and expressed my interest to get me out of this situation. He said that unfortunately the deadline had passed to have my paperwork submitted under the class action settlement... I said What settlement? I had no clue what he meant. He then said yeah youre calling about the class action lawsuit right? I told him that nobody had ever notified me at any point by mail, phone, or email about a class action lawsuit. Confused he said that well the deadline is October 10th is the deadline to have your request submitted for compensation under the class action. I told Craig that You know today is October 10th right?; He confirmed this and said that there was nothing he could do to consider me for the class action since it was past the deadline as of that day, and apologized for the inconvenience. So I contact BMW - Germany, they contact Craig ** @ BMW North America to ask me about a re-purchase, and then only to tell me that Im past the deadline and theres nothing he could do. WTF? How does this make any sense? Why am I now just finding out about this class action lawsuit?? I became more irate and phoned the BMW dealership that we ordered my new engine from, and demanded to talk to a service manager or parts department manager. I told them on the phone that during this whole time my car has been in the shop, and wed been asking for a status on the engine, or alternatives to put me into another car. I asked them directly if they knew about this class action lawsuit pertaining to my engine? When I cornered them they paused on the phone & said... Yes we knew about it. I said then, Why did you not say anything about it this whole time?? Why was this kept a secret or not disclosed? The person at BMW stated that they were instructed by higher ups not to say anything about it to owners because it was in litigation, and the car owners would be notified at the appropriate time. They continued the same story about the drive camshaft holding up the production of these replacement motors, and that there was roughly 185 of these engines on back order in the entire country. WOW... talk about a cover up right? I hung up the phone on him, and proceeded to email BMW Group Germany again explaining what I just found out, and that dealerships are hiding this information from people to minimize their exposure & loss due to the class action. The very next day after I sent that 2nd email I got a call from Craig ** @ BMW North America again stating that theyd be willing to review my case again as a re-purchase option. I proceeded to email Craig my entire file from the shop that we gave my extended warranty company, and all associated service records. Craig said hed send it out to his field team to be reviewed and a determination would be emailed to me once they made their decision on the matter. After waiting a week I emailed Craig to get a status on the re-purchase decision. He contacted me saying that BMW North America had reviewed my case and have declined to approve my re-purchase request. He would not give any reason as to WHY they were rejecting it, and would not tell me who this field team was. He said he was not able to name the individuals or dealerships that make the decision for their Protection. Protection from what??They also noted on the rejection letter that their last record of service/maintenance records was in February of 2017 which was not true. I had my car serviced at my own BMW certified mechanic, and provided records for that work done, but BMW refused to acknowledge that in their letter to me. So now here are the facts.BMW continues to sell these vehicles and dealerships are intentionally not advising people that there is litigation behind them starting in 2015 when the class action was filed. BMW offered an N63 Customer Care Package at one point to put a band aid on the problem; not calling it a recall, but just making the cars last long enough to make it out of their factory warranties leaving them not liable past that point. BMW has not provided any information or status on when new engines that are paid for out of pocket or by warranty are due to be received. Stating a drive camshaft issue is preventing delivery of these engines with no end in sight. As a consumer I AM SCREWED. No car for almost 6 months, and no money to buy a new one or sell this one to get out of my current loan so I can buy something else. Without delivery of this motor my car is worthless, and no options. BMW Group Germany and BMW North America have zero control of this situation, and dealerships refusing to help take ownership of these problems. This is consumer fraud at its finest, and deliberate false statements, misinformation, are being fed to the public about these N63 motors. The 2009-2014 N63 motors are an aging group entering into high mileage and engines are crapping out with less than 100K miles on them. This is snake oil folks, and BMW knows it. The class action settlement proves the excessive oil consumption problems, and now these same engines are failing with the valve stem seals resulting in repair costs that exceed a new engine cost. They have not done their best to advise the public of this and Im sure theres hundreds of people that might be able to relate to my story. If you have purchased one of these vehicles recently from a dealer, or have extensive repairs resulting in the requirement of a new engine that BMW is not delivering on please email me immediately so we can talk. Right now I know three other people in the Las Vegas area that are affected by this. We need others in the country to step forward & share your story and put a stop to this. BMW & Car Dealerships have screwed the public long enough, and now they need to take ownership of a crappy mass produced product theyve put out into the market. Even if you buy an extended warranty youre still not safe; BMW does not have an answer for this, and if you need an engine replacement youll be waiting until next year. The biggest issue here is that BMW knows that their warranties are nowhere even close to sufficient with the well known documented issues behind these cars. They continue to sell these vehicles used and keep the information hidden from consumers. This is fraud! Look at the new class action filed this November 18. BMW has been defrauding its customers for years on these faulty motors, and continue to get rich. Someone needs to put a stop to this asap. The evidence is there, and plenty of public record & consumer complaints... how are these guys still in business?? If youve been taken advantage of please do the following: File a complaint with your State Attorney Generals office - Contact your local news media - Theres three of us here in Las Vegas affected by this and wed be happy to give a statement & tell our story. If we dont make enough noise this will never stop!

Bmw x5 bought new for over $90,000. It has only done 78,000 miles and the car just died whilst I driving on the motorway. I had it taken to BMW SPIRE in London. 2 days later they emailed me saying I have to pay them 16,000 ($20,000) to repair it because the timing chain had gone. I had the car serviced by them one week before and they said nothing about it. No warnings. Nothing. It has a full service history with BMW SPIRE. The Bmw cars are not fit for purpose.

I have dealt with Victoria BC BMW now for 5 years and am sorry to say that they have lost me as a customer. Forever. Awful, horrible, deplorable service. They simply disregard the clients concerns. Over the past 2 years my vehicle has been in the repair shop to have the following fixed and they simply just say they cant fix the following: a) A car that just stalls out of the blue for no reason. b) Brakes that squeal in reverse. c) Also the brakes needed to be replaced after 10K km!!! Which was not covered by warranty. This is ridiculous and there needs to be a recall on that model - 2018 X1.d) The trunk closes when you are half way inside of it. Very scary. I requested they disengage that automatic setting and they were unable to do it. ???? So I have lived for 2 years in fear of going into the trunk because it would randomly close on me when I was inside of it.BMW VICTORIA- you do not live up to the customer service mission statement of BMW.

I had purchased a BMW black X3 very recently on 8/2/13. The car was taken from the Cochin showroom on 8/2/13. While taking the car out on 9th for a short drive, a disturbing knock sound from the back side of the vehicle was occurring. The vehicle was taken to the showroom and the same was attended by the technicians on 12th Feb. On the 13th, while traveling the same sound was heard and this time it was louder. The vehicle was taken to the showroom again on 14th Feb, but I was informed by the staff that as the technicians were not available, the complaint cannot be attended to. The AC cooling effect was very less. Its highly disappointing to notice the callous attitude from the staff and just within days after purchasing a brand new car. This really creates a very bad remark on such a well-known prestigious brand.

My BMW had been sitting at the auto shop garage lot for a couple of weeks being looked over. I get a call from the garage owner early one morning that my BMW had caught on fire. I could not believe this! How could a car that had been sitting for weeks and had not been driven just catch on fire. The fire marshal investigated the matter and determined that indeed it was an electrical fire. I called BMW to make them aware of this situation. To my surprise the BMW representative told me that it was not an issue that BMW felt responsible for. I could not believe that this was BMW position regarding the quality of their cars. I was being told that because the car was not immediately under warranty BMW was not responsible. It was my position that here you have a supposed quality car that catches on fire just sitting. What company would not back their product in such a situation? I have a 16 month old son who was riding in this car on a daily basis before taking it in for maintenance. He could have died in this fire! BMW showed no concern or consideration in this matter. I will never buy another BMW if it was the last car on earth! Readers beware!!!

I have a BMW 2009 x5 4.8 and is unbelievable. The times I have been driving home with my kids and the engine fails, the # of times that I see the leak coming from the buttons, the turn, the lights on the sunroof, nonetheless how rough it has been running. I wish I only knew these were common. Just last week I received a letter that there was a recall of the fuel pump in my car. I took my car for service and they cannot still find what is going on because my car is one of the thousands with the engine failing. Its just excruciating to me that being my only vehicle for me and my kids. Why wouldnt BMW send us owners a notification of these problems in the engine before we spend so much money trying to find the problem without succeeding. This is outrageous.

I am overly wrought about my purchase of a 1994 BMW (purchased in 2003 with only 62,000 miles). It now has 132,000 miles on it. The following has happened in the last three years: the transmission went out, air conditioning went out, SRS system is down, radiator went out (2 times), $2,000 of leaks, and lumbar adjustment (both seats) broken.

This month again, it was the radiator hose. I have to pay $480 for a radiator hose. I am very upset. This is a very well maintained car, but it never is trouble free, and every trip to the dealer end up costing me money. As a lifetime BMW customer, I have never felt this disgusted. I definitely want to get a refund on this outrageous charges.

I am the sole owner of a 2007 BMW X-3. I have had my car serviced at South BMW in Miami, FL. I have owned this car continuously since 2007. I was to be a loyal BMW owner until a recent discovery. The right rear motor mount bracket screws (the four bolts broke off), the engine is not sitting properly and the transmission is making a discernible noise. I only drive on city streets and highways. I am not an off-road driver and this vehicle has not been involved in any type of accident. The BMW warranty covered my vehicle to 50,000 miles. I did not purchase the extended warranty (maintenance warranty offered by the dealership) as it covered nothing. I am afraid that the engine will fall out of the vehicle, causing bodily injury or maybe even a fatality. I noticed that you already have one complaint about this same issue. Please help me. I am not asking for you to replace my vehicle, just fix it to where I can drive it again without fear.

I bought a 2008 528xi from Virginia. Drove 8 hours back to New York no problem. The next day drove the car, low coolant lights appear. I drove to the dealer; they bleed the car and put coolant in the system. Day 3 check engine light appears on the dash not on the computer screen. I brought it back to dealer to hear I need a new water pump and thermostat (-1465) later. Day 4 I received back the car drove around, while in idle the engine malfunction screens comes up and smoke... Smh! I brought the car back to dealer they say it’s an air bubble locked in. So they bleed the car and did a software update. Ok, I drove the car for the low coolant signal to come back on! I call they say top it off with tapped water. I said okay calmly. Went to class came back coolant all over the street!!! Smh Whats Next???

The 3-year lease was over last month and I returned my car with no issues except they refused to refund my unused miles. I was told that I can only receive credit for the unused miles and use it to apply to any outstanding balance. Well, I prepaid my lease up front and there is NO outstanding balance.Your company is so tricky. Tried to get me purchased additional miles, but never ever, not on the phone nor on the Addendum, that clearly stated that any unused miles will NOT be refundable. Bought new 2008 full service record drive, went out 31000 miles. BMW took bike hostage for 2 half weeks prime riding season to figure out if they would stand behind it. Dealer said, “Dont worry you had all service required done, should be no problem.” After holding bike 2 and a half weeks, “Oh sorry too far out of warranty.” Dealer gives used drive 1600 dollars, no warranty. This is a normal BMW consumer experience. Dealer said all the drives they rebuilt none have ever came back but up here you dont get that many miles per year, all confident in their rebuild but no warranty. Total terrible experience, looking at different kind of bike next time. No more high quality BMW experiences for me.

I placed a new vehicle order for a BMW X5 in September 2014, at BMW Monrovia, CA. BMW North America (NA) changed the delivery date several times. I had no confidence in them but my sales guy kept telling me different stories why they had to put off the delivery. I finally got my vehicle in November 2014. BMW NA then said they would give me a goodwill check ($1,028) for late delivery.I started to have a nightmare for this check. After two months I did not see the check, I went to ask my sale guy at the dealership. He later told me BMW NA sent a $500 check to my previous address. (My sales guy made a mistake by giving BMW NA that address as I had not lived there for two years). He said he had contacted BMW NA several times to ask for the check. It appears no one there was taking care of this matter. After hard pursuit, I finally had my check delivered to me in May 2015. That is six months later after they made their promise. I had to chase after my sales guy who was lazy by not advising me timely what was going on with this matter. The experience was horrible. There was no such thing called customer service with BMW NA. It is shame you have to keep chasing after them closely for more than six months to do their work. It is a shame with BMW NA.

Originally I loved my 2011 BMW 335d diesel with 140,000 miles. I am the original owner. Vehicle develops serious carbon buildup due to direct injection. $4000.00 repair (decarb intake manifold). Manufacturer obviously knows about it because they stopped producing this vehicle. Then a few months later, emissions NOx sensors go bad and no way to fix without replacing catalytic converter and both front and rear NOx sensors. So far $2300 just for parts. The vehicle only gives you 200 miles to get her into a shop then it wont start. Imagine if every vehicle with a Check Engine Light on wouldnt run after 200 miles. To make matters worse, catalytic converters are back ordered going on three weeks now with a rental. Please advise.

BMW 750i xdrive run flat tires and wheels - I have lost 5 new front pirelli run flat tires within the 6 month. In addition one of my wheel cracked and I had to replace it as well. Evidently BMW command center that pushing these run flat tires dont care about their customers. These run flat tires might be good for European autobahns but not for road conditions in East Coast. I have changed the plans of purchasing BMW for my son. No anymore BMW. I have replaced the tires to non run flat. In addition to it BMW claims that run flat can run another 50 miles after damaged is not simply true - it barely runs 10 miles max before start damaging the rim. In addition BMW emergency service does not deliver anything emergency except being polite on the phone. I will be selling out my BMW as soon as I can get rid of it. Purchase a BMW 328i late Dec 2012, 48,800 miles. Im retired, drive less than 8,500 miles a yr., pick up my grandkids from school 12 miles roundtrip. In the first 2 months after I got this car Ive taken it back to the dealership at least 5x. RED FLAG. Check engine light on, door wont open, oil leak. Dealerships fix everything, no problem till June 2013 & no longer under 50,000. Had this car 5 1/2 months, at the dealership 6 times & had to pay over $990 to the blower on the AC. Since then Ive paid for several oil leaks, gasket valve replaced, door locks because it was a mechanical problem, window problems, AC problems - 2 more times had to raise hell about that to get it fix & still charged me $150.00 for a part because only the blower was under warranty. Check engine light NEVER goes off & no one knows why.Picked up my grandson from school on a hot day, the car just stopped. No lights, no warning, just died. Took it back to the dealership that informed me my break fluid was leaking, my transmission may have problems & my suspension is going out... my car was just at the dealership for routine oil change, break fluid & tires 3 weeks before it stopped. I ask them about a noise my car made when I turn left/right but they didnt hear or see anything. They gave me a quote for everything that needs fixing & I almost hell passed out, I had to get 2nd quote. While driving home on the freeway front suspension went completely out, tried to stop that, car was all over the place, it scared me so bad I had to pull off the Fwy. I just cried, 35 mins later start car back up, took the side streets, home only 10 mins away when my car started shaking. I stopped at lights, it would shake more & act like it was going to die... Who knows what the hell that is.I financed this car, make payments, take great care of it... Only drove it to pick up my grandkids, get groceries & church... I would park it on the weekends cause my daughter would pick me up... Those miles on the car came from driving back & forth 40 min 1 way to the dealership 15 time in less than 3 yrs... Its been sitting for 2 weeks. Im too scared to drive it, even if I could afford all these recent repairs $8,000-$10,000... THIS IS THE WORST CAR I EVER HAD... This car has been in the shop more than I actually driven it. Ive spent over $3,800 not including routine maintenance on a car I didnt drive when it did run... This car is nightmare. Every time I look at it I start to cry... WHOEVER READ THIS, NEVER BUY A BMW EVER. Lease a new model, 2 yr then take it back... Can I sue BMW??

Endless problems, high parts cost, Arrogant dealership! - I realize fully that my opinion(s) are not exactly the same as some out there who are chiming in with comments about more recent models purchased, new or used from BMW dealerships, but I thought I would give my two cents because of my shock that these cars are absolutely not built with the same quality of a Mercedes or of Chevrolet (at least when it comes to their Corvette products). Recently, I purchased a 1999 BMW 328i Convertible with 116,000 miles on it. I did so believing that BMW had superior quality and engineering. The car is so cosmetically perfect as to indicate that it had been well taken care of, and the Carfax was in order, too. The engine overall runs fine, although Ive already gone through two steering pumps because BMWs are apparently prone to having steering pump clogging issues with their steering pump filters, also, my air conditioning does not work properly due to a common BMW problem called the fan regulator switch. Realizing fully that there would be things that needed fixing on any car with such high mileage, I never in my life have heard of some of the ridiculous things that are wrong with this car nor have I ever experienced the sticker shock with regard to finding/purchasing parts in order to patch this thing back together (i.e. a new cup holder, which usually can only be ordered directly from BMW because there are no used ones on the market due to the fact that they are made so cheaply is $60.00 at the local arrogant dealership. A coin holder which is usually broken but which has to be replaced in order to complete the restoration of the center console is $30.00 and looks like nothing more than a small piece of thin plastic with cheap springs inside). The airbag light that is on is not due to something specifically wrong with one of the airbags, but rather has to do with the seat belt tensioner, a typically BMW, overkill, goofy part and/or mechanism, which requires a full replacement of the seat belt latching mechanism on the passenger side, $550.00 for the part from BMW, $150.00 if Im lucky to find a used one on eBay that actually works. And the service advisor at the local dealership here in Kansas City just kind of laughed, like theyve done about most things. When I asked for an estimate to have it installed, saying, Its hard to say how much it would cost, we dont do much work on the ‘older’ cars.” When I asked about the drivers seat, of which the power gears have locked up and no longer work, he simply flat out said We really dont do work like that on the ‘older cars’, and recommended one of two or three local boutique-type foreign car garages around town.” The same went for my convertible top, always with a good little arrogant laugh. I inquired about an oil change, and after another arrogant little chuckle, and checking with several other mechanics and service advisors, was told it would probably be about $100.00. This after Ive spent a good $1,000.00+ at their dealership on parts which Ive installed myself. Ive owned several sports cars in my life, most of which were purchased used, including 5 Corvettes, and two Mercedes-Benz SLs (one of the Mercedes had over 160,000 miles on it when purchased; the other over 80,000 miles). All were far superior cars to this ultimate driving machine, with far fewer problems of any kind on them. I cannot believe the shoddy quality of everything on this car. The plastic on almost every plastic part is cheap and cracks; electrical problems are now starting to crop up with my entire left tail light mechanism failing to operate now (never have I experienced a whole bank of tail lights failing on any car Ive ever owned, foreign or domestic). I realized I was going to have to replace the top because it was worn out; however, parts of the top that are necessary to complete the top rebuild are astronomical in price, with small plastic pieces and one foot of elastic cord costing $80.00 wholesale; one piece, available only from BMW, that is held in place with the stupidest design I ever saw of having one central screw in the center of the windshield, cost $283.00 and is so flimsy that its a wonder that it wont need replacing once a year. The top doesnt work correctly and there is no guarantee that it ever will. Ive seen 30 year old Chevrolets with tops that are not this intricate, cheap, nor prone to problems that still work beautifully. Just today, most of my tail lights and all of my interior lights stopped working! This car looks like it was well taken care of, but it must have all been to no avail. I now understand why a used BMW is only worth about 30% of what a used Mercedes is valued at. I did not sign on to being a Beemer owner thinking that I was buying something with as many problems as a 50 year old Jaguar or MG. I was thinking the quality would be more like a Mercedes and as for the arrogant preamble to this site, which says: “High-performance cars require lots and lots of very expensive routine maintenance. Also theyre notorious for being afflicted with all kinds of exotic problems. If youre really into cars, understand them and are willing to lavish time, money and attention on one, the BMW may be for you. If youre looking to raise your self-esteem by buying something really expensive, we recommend real estate.”Thats **! Furthermore, the arrogance of the people who work at the local dealership, including at the parts counter is unbelievable. They almost want to argue with you about what part you need. If they cant find it immediately, they get cranky and claim it doesnt exist, that that was a part that BMW didnt put on the car, or some other crazy excuse. Then, when you finally bring them a part number, they apologize and tell you its $500.00. A Corvette and Mercedes SLs are high performance cars, and I do understand cars, and BMWs are pieces of crap! Just my two cents, but I will never purchase a BMW, new or used ever again!

I have recently bought a new BMW 335i GT from Patrick BMW. Before the purchase, I was told by the sales person that the advertised the car would provide the fuel economy of 20mpg in city and 30mpg on highway. Also, I was told that on an average, I would be getting around 24-25mpg as I live in suburbs. Ever since I bought the car, I was getting the fuel economy of around 17-18mpg. If I drive on highway, I am getting around 19-20mpg which is far less than what it is advertised and what I was told before the purchase. I have reached out to the BMW service multiple times but I was getting a constant response back from them saying that they couldnt find anything. As per the dealers advice, I have reached out to the BMW customer care hoping that I would get a solution from them. Its been more than 2 months since I have started interacting with BMW customer care and I have called them a number of times. Every time I call them, I am being told that someone from BMW North America service will look into the car and the dealer will schedule an appointment for that which has never happened in spite of multiple follow ups. I am completely fed up with this. It is clearly evident that there is something wrong with the car. I have got a car with a major flaw and nobody from BMW is even taking care of this in spite of multiple complaints.

I had actually received a piece of mail that had said my car was a recall. Now as many years as we’ve owned the car never have I ever heard or had been sent a letter of my car being a recall and we’ve been the first owners the only owners and it’s been so many years. My car is a 2001 and they’re just recently telling me about the recall which could’ve killed me and my kids and very harmful very harmful recall. Actually it is. They should’ve notified people a lot sooner because anything could happen whether it’s your fault or not your fault. Then they tell you to come in and that they will take care of it for you but they make it almost impossible for you to bring your car in and at the very end they end up making you pay for something which is supposed to be completely on their end. The customer service was horrible.

Many performance positives, however, an electronic/electrical nightmare with a price tag out of this world for every ** little thing. And the damn thing is only 3 years old with 50k miles on it! And when you call BMW HQ if you had anyone but the dealers touch it’s then they are not responsible. ** THEM! I will never own another BMW as long as I live, nor will anyone directly related to me. On the other hand if you buy one you deserve every headache you get... and you WILL get them!!! Cant wait to get rid of this damn thing.

I own an 08 BMW 4S with 65,000 miles. The GPS failed and the dealer priced the repair at $1,435 to repair it. Need I say more? $1,435 to fix a GPS when Google Maps on my I-phone has a better GPS than the car did. Called BMW USA and they told me they could offer no help. This could be the last time I purchase a BMW. The Dealer is fantastic and the service specialist Terrance ** is top notch.

I am not fully sure why BMW thinks they can get away with having faulty engines in over 500K cars for a seven year period but theyre doing it. Now they want me to pay $4600 to fix something they knew was broken? That is utterly ridiculous. How is it that these major car companies can have recall after recall and not be reprimanded or mandated by law to sit a few months or years? Or even have quarterly inspections regarding the quality theyre producing... I was almost killed in a car accident by a semi-truck when my engine stalled on the highway from 70 to 30 mph in under 2 seconds. All I can recall is hearing the screeching of the truck as it fishtailed behind me, not to rear end me. However, I must pay for it? Wow. As a veteran who served over 20+ years, that is a difficult pill to swallow. Whats even worse is how BMW treats you after that.

I bought a BMW 5 series. I Started having problems with a Misfire and shakes in the wheel and wiper issues along with navigation and AC issues. I reported all these issues before the end of the Manufacturers warranty which would have covered all these repairs. During that time I was told nothing wrong. Brought it back again and they said nothing wrong. Of course after the warranty expires, the first time I brought it back they found the issue. They had me to pay for all these experiments to solve the problems and now in my pocket about $3000. In all this time I stressed that I shouldnt have to pay because its ongoing repairs that should have been fix but never was. They still insisted on my paying for all repairs. That have not stand up to the warranty and did not do anything to my satisfaction. At the moment I am risking my life every moment I am on the highway because when Im switching lanes, I get stuck in slow motion most times and this can cause the car approaching from behind to collide and cause very serious damages or DEATH. BMW does not care even though I stressed these concerns every time. STAY AWAY FROM ALL BMWs!!!

The X1 is like a slightly elevated station wagon. I am small so I like its size. I bought this car used (could never afford a new one) and it appeared to be in good shape... 2015 - only 60K. It had been well kept. It also had all the bells and whistles (paid for by the first owner): heated seats, heated steering wheel, xLine, GPS, backup camera... Pretty loaded AND new tires. I love it. Zippy enough... Good MPG 34 hwy 24 in town. I have owned a number of BMWs and this is a true BMW. Others I have owned have worn the title, BMW with more flash and style. However, this car is fine for me.

I purchased a Certified 328i from Keeler BMW in Schenectady 10/15. The car had 29,000 miles on it when I purchased. Certified means that the car should be covered for most issues until it reaches either 100k or 3/12/19. My engine blew within 9 months of owning the car. BMW first tried telling me that they werent sure this was going to be covered. After threatening to sue, a new engine was ordered from overseas and covered. Shortly after, there was a recall and the oil line had to be replaced. I was told this would take 4 hours. I waited for over 8 hrs. Only 2-3 months later I found over an inch of water in the back of the car which soaked through the floor mats and through the carpet. The door seals broke. Yet another fight with BMW because they first claimed that this happens and that the door seals werent covered. They eventually covered them but never bothered addressing the fact that the carpets were soaked for weeks while I waited for an appointment to get the seals fixed. One would think that they would dry and professionally clean the carpets to rid of mold and mildew. They didnt bother, so now theres a lovely smell of mildew throughout my car. This brings me to one of the rear doors not opening for months due to the lock not working. I can only assume this is because water was running through the door panel when the seals werent working. Another fix. Theres a short in the passenger seats sensor. I have to keep the seat belt buckled when the seat is empty just so the annoying beeping will stop. I noted this as one of the items to be taken care of when I dropped the car off to have the door seals replaced. The dealership neglected to fix it. The bluetooth doesnt work. I have to have my phone plugged in, it wont pickup otherwise. As of todays date, 07/31/2017, my car has 70,000 miles on it with coverage thats supposed to extend up to 100,000 miles. The car sounds like a go kart when I start it and turn it off. Ive contacted BMW several times asking what they will do in terms of a tradein. Im tired of having this car serviced and out of commission for days, at times, weeks. I use my car for my business. There are certain standards that should be met by BMW considering the consumer is paying for the brand name and customer service that is supposed to be associated along with. If I wanted a car that was going to be in the shop every month, Id buy a 3k beater off of Craigslist. BMW has only offered me $1,500 towards a NEW BMW as a resolution. Completely unreasonable. This car is a LEMON. I would expect the company to recognize this and offer a more reasonable resolution. This is my third BMW. Wheres the customer service? Perhaps at Mercedes.

I purchased a vehicle from this used car dealer that was supposed to be a certified BMW and Ive been having problems with the car since buying it. Ive had the car for three months and every month, the car has been in the shop. I have spoken to the manager about the problems, but kept getting the runaround. Now Ive had the car for three months and theres a clicking sound when I make a left turn. When I told the manager about this problem, he told me I have to pay for parts and labor. I paid $2,000 for a car that was supposed to be certified thats really not. I was sold a car that is supposed to be 160 points certified and was not. This dealer is telling me that I have to pay for parts and labors on a car I only had for three months and now Im having a hard time getting anything done with the management which I paid $2,000 to for a car that I shouldnt be paying to repair.

Love this car (X1) great value for the price. It drives beautifully and has UNBELIEVABLE radius. Its extremely solid and easy to keep clean. However, its small inside and will not fit standard car seats. Also, the beeping and chimes are total overkill and cause anxiety. The clock cannot be seen well. The worst part is the locks. You cannot open the door and then immediately open the back door or hatch. It requires crawling back in to push the unlock button TWICE and the button is near the center instead of the door. Dumb and difficult spot! But we feel safe in this car.

Purchased a tire/wheel protection plan (scam) for $1600. When I leased my X3. I took my vehicle into BMW in Bridgewater NJ three times for a tire that had a constant leak and was in need of replacement. Each time I was advised it only needed air. I returned my vehicle to Flemington BMW, where I initially leased it and went across the street and leased another from Flemington Lincoln. I was totally insulted when I received my Lease termination Inspection report only to find that the tire that I bought in to be repaired (right front - run flat) tread was measured to be 3/32. Apparently 1/32 below the acceptable wear and as a result was charged an $300. In addition to a $350 disposition fee for not leasing another BMW.My husband called BMW customer service and complained to Charles ** about what a rip off scam this was and that we wanted to see the tire they measured so can measure it to see this 1/32, when the rest of the tires were above their so called standards. Mr ** had no remedy for my problem and was virtually speechless. First and last BMW. Tire wheel protection with them is definitely a JOKE! Management at Flemington BMW did nothing! Lost a customer.

I was sold a lemon, bought brand new car (2012 BMw x6 35i drive) with only 10 miles that had a manufacturers defect that had to be fixed 3 more times within a 24 month period. Asked to be put in a new car because it had not been 30 days since purchase and was denied. BMW changed my oil and a month later my engine locked up on me because of their negligence. Horrible service treats you like a number, damages your car purposely if you ask me so that they can make $$. All of a sudden I have all these MAJOR issues when car goes out of warranty.Looking for a good attorney because I want every penny I spent back for all the pain, and suffering. My car constantly had oil issues with leaking oil and exhaust issues. The car rides like crap since they have called themselves fixing it. Help. Anyone out there with similar issues. Maybe we can try and get a class action going, or if you know of a good attorney that specializes in lemon laws please I would be ever so grateful for the information. The car has had 3 safety recalls on it. I will NEVER purchase another BMW!
