2026 BMW i5

The 2026 BMW i5 is a fully electric executive sedan that blends luxury, efficiency, and engaging driving dynamics in a package designed to appeal to drivers seeking a premium electric vehicle (EV) with executive presence. Positioned above the compact i4 and below larger full-size luxury sedans, the i5 aims to deliver an electric alternative to traditional gasoline-powered executive cars. It offers a balance of comfort for daily commuting, refinement for long drives, and electric powertrain performance that aligns with BMW’s performance-oriented character.

Design & Exterior Identity

The 2026 BMW i5 presents a refined and purposeful design that emphasizes both elegance and modernity:

Executive proportions: A long wheelbase, sculpted sides, and balanced stance give the i5 a polished, upscale presence suitable for both business settings and personal driving.

BMW design cues: Elements like the kidney grille (expressed in a modern electric form), sleek headlights, and precise body lines reflect BMW’s design language in an EV-friendly interpretation.

Aerodynamic refinement: Subtle surface shaping and integrated aero details help enhance electric efficiency while preserving premium aesthetics.

Four-door silhouette: The body style combines the practicality of a sedan with the visual poise of a modern executive car.

Overall, the exterior communicates confidence, sophistication, and forward-looking design appropriate for an electric flagship.

Electric Powertrain & Performance

The core of the 2026 i5’s appeal is its electric propulsion system:

Electric motors: The i5 uses advanced electric motors that provide instant torque and smooth, linear acceleration — characteristics that contribute to a refined and responsive driving experience.

Battery system: A high-capacity battery pack supports a practical electric range that satisfies daily commuting and longer trips alike.

Single-speed transmission: Typical of EV architectures, the direct drive provides seamless acceleration without gear shifts.

Power delivery: The electric powertrain is tuned to offer both relaxed cruising and confident passing power with smooth responsiveness.

Electric propulsion in the i5 prioritizes efficiency, refinement, and usable performance for a premium sedan experience.

Driving Dynamics & Handling

The 2026 i5 delivers driving dynamics that reflect BMW’s focus on engagement and composure:

Balanced ride: A low center of gravity from the battery placement contributes to stable handling and confident cornering, while suspension tuning supports comfort for everyday driving.

Precise steering: Steering feel is calibrated for clarity and confidence, helping reinforce driver engagement even in an electric context.

Composed chassis: Body motions are controlled and poised, creating a driving experience that feels both confident and comfortable.

Regenerative braking: Magnetic regenerative braking is adjustable, enabling drivers to tailor energy recovery and deceleration characteristics to their preference.

The i5 blends executive comfort and driving engagement, making it suitable for both city environments and longer highway trips.

Interior Comfort & Practicality

Inside, the 2026 BMW i5 offers a modern and premium cabin environment:

Supportive seating: Seats are designed to provide comfort on both short trips and extended journeys, with available adjustments and optional comfort enhancements.

Premium materials: Refined upholstery, soft-touch surfaces, and thoughtful trim elevate the sense of quality and luxury.

Ergonomic layout: Controls and displays are placed for intuitive access, helping reduce distraction and maintain driver focus.

Cabin spaciousness: Ample room for passengers in both front and rear enhances comfort and usability in daily and longer drives.

The interior design balances refinement and functionality for a comfortable, executive experience.

Technology & Connectivity

The 2026 BMW i5 integrates modern technology to support convenience, connectivity, and information:

Digital driver display: A configurable digital cluster provides essential driving information, including speed, navigation, and battery status, in a clear and modern presentation.

Central infotainment system: A responsive touchscreen interface integrates media, navigation, vehicle settings, and connectivity functions through intuitive menus.

Smartphone integration: Built-in wireless support provides seamless access to calls, messaging, apps, and navigation.

EV-specific feedback: Displays provide real-time feedback on energy usage, range estimation, and charging status to support efficient electric driving.

Technology in the i5 is designed to enhance usability and comfort without overwhelming the core driving experience.

Safety & Driver Assistance

The 2026 BMW i5 includes a comprehensive suite of safety and driver assistance systems:

Adaptive cruise control: Helps maintain set speeds and safe following distances on long highway journeys.

Lane-keeping assist: Supports stability and lane positioning during sustained driving.

Automatic emergency braking: Offers mitigation support in sudden slow-down scenarios.

Blind-spot monitoring: Enhances awareness during lane changes and in dense traffic conditions.

Safety technologies work in the background to enhance confidence and reduce driver workload.

Strengths of the 2026 BMW i5

Electric performance: Instant torque and smooth acceleration provide engaging responsiveness.

Dynamic driving character: BMW-tuned steering and chassis balance offer composed handling in diverse conditions.

Premium interior: High-quality materials and thoughtful design create a refined cabin environment.

Practical electric range: Battery capacity supports daily use and longer journeys with confidence.

Modern technology: Integrated digital displays and connectivity features support everyday convenience.

Trade-offs & Considerations

Charging infrastructure dependency: Long trips rely on access to reliable fast charging networks and planning.

Range variance: Real-world electric range depends on driving style, weather, load, and accessory use.

Premium pricing: As a luxury electric sedan, the i5 generally carries a higher entry price compared with conventional internal-combustion counterparts.

Cargo space vs SUVs: While practical for a sedan, cargo and passenger space are more compact compared with larger electric SUVs.

Who the 2026 BMW i5 Is Best For

The 2026 BMW i5 is ideal for drivers who:

Want a luxury electric sedan with engaging dynamics.

Appreciate premium interior comfort and modern technology.

Value electric performance and refinement in executive form.

Need a vehicle suitable for daily use and longer highway driving.

Prefer a sedan format that blends efficiency, comfort, and sportiness.

Bottom Line

The 2026 BMW i5 delivers a refined, engaging, and practical electric driving experience tailored to the executive sedan segment. It encapsulates BMW’s ability to integrate electric propulsion with performance-driven dynamics and premium comfort. For drivers seeking a luxury electric alternative to traditional executive sedans — one that combines modern technology, poised handling, and a comfortable interior — the 2026 i5 stands out as a compelling and versatile choice in the evolving EV market.

This company is being run straight into the ground. They will lie to you and in our opinion are crooks. So sad to see what was once a great car company turn into what it has become today. I would have to say that I agree with all the other reviews regarding this horrific company. Please take our advice and buy a different type of car that will give you the respect and service that should come with a car that prides itself on Customer Service.

My car stopped on me going out of town on the weekend and needed a tow. I contacted BMW roadside from the number in my trunk and set up service to be towed to BMW of Manhattan and I prepaid 139.00 from my debit for the service. I called the service center at BMW of Manhattan to assure security and lockup information and was told that they could not accommodate that and they closed at 5pm. So I knew the car wouldnt arrive on time because it was a little after four when I called back roadside and made reservations for the car to be stored at the towing company until Monday morning but I had to upgrade the amount I paid from 139.00 to 169.00 because of storage time. I was told the first payment couldnt be reimbursed over the phone but that Id receive it in three to five business days. I continued out of town on the 30th through Greyhound and returned on the fifth. I kept running into the resistance of phone tag when I returned but finally got through with email correspondence. When I visited the BMW of Manhattan location I spoke about the issues and options concerning the car. The 189.00 payment for diagnostic and the issues that needed to be addressed. I was told I needed the alternator replaced and battery fixed then another diagnostic needed to be done to see what caused the recharger to stop charging and the battery to die. I explained that I had some one oil the car and wanted to know if that could be the cause because he used oil that was not suggested by my previous mechanic; it was Mobile synthetic and I wanted to make sure it hadnt shocked my system causing the car to fail (BMW 750i 2006). I also didnt want to pay for a diagnosis and fix it only to pay for another diagnosis and realize my system was shot. I feel he should have been able to give me that information the first time opposed to being charged so many times. The service area associate assured me it was not the oil but he needed to fix the car first then re-diagnose.So, I asked about the financial assistance program that I was told they didnt have. I was also told if the car was fixed and not picked up Id be charged 85 dollars a day for storage. So I asked the service adviser Denise ** did she have the information for the towing company. I wanted the car towed back to she said No. I then stated I have it in my papers I will call and have it picked up and she replied I do have it. She gestured to a folder in front of her and she said Ill call and make the arrangement and the car will be picked up Monday (This was a Saturday again and they closed at 5).Its been two weeks now since the car broke down and I have not received my reimbursement. I called BMW roadside. They cannot give any information or a telephone number to speak with someone who can explain why I dont have my 139.00 back. The woman on the phone sounded unusually uncomfortable and told me I had to send a letter to the claims department. Thats all the information she could give me; that there was no number I could call. I expressed my concerns about no contact by phone and not receiving a follow up (which she said I should have gotten). Ive googled and cannot find a number for BMW claims or reimbursement and they insist they cant help me on the phone.I called BMW of Manhattan and was greeted nasty. I wanted to know where had the car been delivered to and the woman on the phone said It was delivered to the shop where I was having it fixed (she said it wasnt there). I told her I didnt make arrangements and wheres my car. She told me to hold on and transferred me to Denise ** who said she never made the arrangements and never agreed to it. We went back and forth on the phone till I finally asked wheres the car and she said Its still in the service area. Today is 10/13/17 and the car has been there since 10/02/17.I think BMW of Manhattan is a in every area from the financial assistance to having the car fixed and also on delivery. The attitude of the managing staff Ive run into is very unethical. I feel its bad business to take my money and now I have to chase it and get spoken to rudely. There system is not put together professionally; unless theyre just common thieves. I would like my money returned and car delivered and as I write this long (hour-some) letter the email had still not generated on my phone for an update (as she called it). BMW gets no stars from me. I wish I never bought the car. (I wanted an Impala.)Oh, and when I returned to my car to retrieve stuff from my trunk. They had left food in the car that was rotting for the time it was there. The windows were rolled down and big flies were in my car. I had little groceries in the car and though it might not be their job, if you are working on it and its in your garage common courtesy and your environment should have made you throw away sour milk, juice and hamburger meat. (Im just saying.) But Im not on fb so I wont. ;) I didnt know Id need receipts at the end for this but I can furnish upon request.

After reading through the majority of complaints here, Ive come to the conclusion that it is either the failure of the consumer to research the product carefully or expectations that are unrealistic and do not disclose the full story. For those that have had a bad sales experience, it is a failure of the dealership employing sales people that do not know their product and over promising and under delivering. If you buy a used car especially over 85k, as I read regarding the X5, expect it to have mechanical failures with some parts that require maintenance, i.e. cooling system parts such as t-stats and water pumps. Modern cars that are built by teams of suppliers are all prone to failures of suspension parts, bushings, window regulators, etc. and is an unfortunate result of the economies of building a car, any car. Buying a car because you thought it was prestigious, well, thats just an expectation residing in stupidity. BMW have never stated their x products are true off roaders (look at the wheels and tire profiles!). If you want that, buy a jeep or LandRover or LandCruiser. Navigation systems, blame the software guys (probably Navteq). They provide the disks for everyone in the industry. The car you purchased CPO was state of the art at the time and has evolved quite quickly. All of you expecting a car that is bare bones, be aware that most cars today have ecu/telematics units with more computing power than a Saturn V rocket (that took the Apollo astronauts to the moon). The trans guy? You needed a new clutch probably because you continued to drive the car after the trans light came on in which you probably needed a trans shift solenoid (approx $200). I am on my third car and have been fortunate to own many performance marques, all of which have had their share of issues. For the woman that claimed she was dismissed because car was out of warranty, what do you expect? What do you not understand? Out of warranty is out of warranty. You didnt complain if they fixed stuff at their cost within the warranty. Now, its your turn to incur cost. Cars arent cost free to maintain. You bought a car. A product. Thats it! You didnt do anything to qualify you for winning the Nobel prize so why should your expectation be that they fix your problem? Should they fix everyone elses car on the road thats out of warranty? For the guy with the motor mount issue, your car was probably in an accident. I have seen CPOD cars sold without disclosure of accidents by a major luxury japanese manufacturer and thats not the fault of the marque but the dealerships shoddy and shady selling practices. Conclusion, educate yourself if you buy anything. And stop with blame or false expectations that youre owed something. Car manufacturers step up to the plate to cover you either warranty or goodwill when analytics show there is a problem.

I bought a 2006 BMW 750i and it comes with CPO. I also paid for maintenance program up to 6 years or 100,000 miles. So the BMW NA and dealer should really take good care of the car until 2012, right? Nope! Right after my warranty expired, which was Feb 2012 and did 100,000 services, the dealer listed over one hundred things that need to be taken care right away. My car broke down twice on the road (fuel injection systems and transmission fail) and I have complained those issues (27 services record for 4 years), plus more (line motor oil burns too fast and the dealer answered me that its normal right after the warranty). The dealer warned me and now reported: 1. Rec replace sealing sleeve assembly (found sealing sleeve assembly leaking) - Fail $901.47 X. 2. Replace valve cover gasket (found engine oil leak) - Fail $2,376.13 X. 3. Previously declined recommendations status. 4. Replace blushing caution $1,076.50. 5. Perform power steering system fluid exchange service caution $169.00.6. Perform coolant fluid exchange service caution $199.99.BMW CPO is a fraud. I just keep asking and the dealer declines, stalls for the mechanic issue and not fix it. I believe Consumer Affairs should look into it. I called and wrote an email to BMW NA customer relations. They changed the rep and even used lousy excuses. They said I did not pick up the phone. After a callback and not returning my call, they changed the rep and sent me another email. Speechless. I just want to share my experience with all Beamer owners and a warning to those want to become a Beamer owner.

BMW is claiming that a bird could strip paint from my 2014 X3, which I purchased just 3 months ago. This pre-certified car is awesome in every way, but I have owned 2 BMWs and 4 Volvos prior to this and have never had any damage to the finish from a bird. They are telling me that the damage is outside their warranties. I find it hard to believe they do not warrant their finishes. Stay away from this car; paint is fragile. If you have to be worried about bird **, you should look for something a lot less expensive. High end is not what finishes this car.

Bridgewater, NJ said they can not take the X128i we are leasing (and 3 years of full lease has been completed) becuase of Murphys Executive order to keep NJ safe (duing the COVID period). However, when I called the BMW Financial Services, they said we need to make the payment to keep the car. How is that fair by BMW? The car is not even driven at all for last 6 weeks.I am ready to return the car and toally understand that only essestial businesses needs to be open, but here is a company who wants to make full use of the situtation of charging the customers. Very very dissappoiting in BMW and surely I am not the only one who has been forced to do so. This was my 3rd BMW and never going back to this company.

3001 bmw 740il - Bought this auto from private party for 4000 dollars as a favor for them. What a piece of junk to try and revive. BMW hides from USA rules in their failures. Beware of the newness and glamor of their models. The truth is we the consumers have to fix and try to accomplish a better product all on our own. This might seem as a bit of **. But buy American built products and German engineering might seem glamorous but GOD loves AMERICA for a reason.

My 2006 BMW 325i passenger seat sensor failure causes SRS (airbag system) light on dashboard to remain on. There exists a recall for this known manufacturing defect (National Highway Safety Administration Campaign 08V384000), which results in disabling the passenger airbag. This caused me to fail the annual inspection with only one option to pass, which will cost over $1000. Although this recall exists for my model and year, BMW USA claims my VIN is not part of the recall, in spite of the fact that my car presents this hazard.

You are on your own, BMW USA could not care less what happens in the so called BMW dealership. Here is the official response: “BMW Customer Relations and Services provides aftersales information on warranty, vehicle, and manufacturer-related inquiries. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with information regarding vehicle sales. Since all sales are processed a fulfilled by the sales team at independently owned and operated authorized BMW centers, we recommend continuing to work directly with the sales manager at Coast BMW. Several months ago BMW sent me a letter to bring my car in to be service for a recalls and/or updates. They returned my car stating they would contact me later to finish the job after a part they needed came in. A few months later they called me to bring my car back in. A week later, I received a call from a service department person saying they broke the engine coil off my car and will have to take the whole engine out now. Im nervous because my car was driving fine before I got the letter and the call to bring my car back in to BMW. The guy who kept communicating with me said hes going on vacation for a week but someone else he named would be taking care of things. No one contacted me about my car. When he returned from vacation he called. He said he was back and they are waiting on a part and when it come in they will pull my engine out.I asked, Will it driving like it was when I bought it in? He replied, It should be better. Im knowing, nothing was wrong with my car. I didnt even know why or what needed updating. He said the mechanic is going on vacation now for a week. A week later he called saying, Im just calling to keep you informed and we have another car engine on the table right now and as soon as we finish with it, were going to put yours on it. My husband is in from Florida and hes asking me how do a car going in for updates end up having the engine pulled out of it? He following up saying, Once they pull your engine it will never drive the same again. Another friend whom is a Director at a college stated they would have to give me a warranty stating if anything happens to my engine they will fix it no matter what the problem is or give me a new car. Im more scared and upset. The following week the service person call me again on Friday saying, Well we finally got your car in and getting ready to work on it and you should have it back by Tuesday or Wednesday. So far they have had my car a month so I drove to BMW when they were closed on that Sunday and across the street from them sit my car with a small plate hanging off the front of it by a wire and parked crooked. Now, Im upset and all trust of the one keeping me informed is all out the window. I called and left him a message about me seeing my car on the other lot. He called back saying they are working on it now and it should be ready by the end of the day. I said to him, Im concerned about my car sitting for weeks and whether it will run right. He told me they ensure whatever parts they put on it for two years. I didnt feel that was good enough.I got a call from him later saying, Your car is ready but in all honesty I just dont feel right giving you back your car without the mechanic driving it for the whole weekend and hes getting ready to put some miles on your car. I said, Well have him drive it on the highway to make sure its driving ok and he said he will. Maybe the mechanic is driving it out of town for the 4th of July.My car is a fully loaded pearl color 750Li xDrive Super Sport Twin Turbo Engine, which I made a payment on in June as it sat on BMW lot due to their mistake. They tried to put me in a 3-Series. I wouldnt take it so they put me in a 5-Series with Sam Swope courtesy vehicle in big bold letters across the back window and had me return it because they sold it, they said. I had it for over three weeks. They put me in a black 5-Series afterwards that is more up to date and I still have it. Basically, BMW has had my car for about 6 weeks and the mechanic still have it at his house right now somewhere.

We purchased a CPO X50i from BMW about 14 months ago. Out of the 14 months, the vehicle has spent about 9 months in the dealership getting repaired. We’ve dealt with the typical drivetrain malfunction issues, which seems BMW techs aren’t well trained on how to fix. Each time that the vehicle would be picked up from service, within the day the same or new issue would occur. We even tried going to a different BMW dealership to see if we had better luck and my service advisor advised that I get rid of the car and there wasn’t anything else they can do. I finally contacted BMW North America and opened up a PUMA case. They claim to give me an update every week, yet I never get any updates. Bring the vehicle is t financed through BMW financial, we’ve been stuck having to make payments for a vehicle that isn’t in any operating conditions. In fact, twice the vehicle had heavy smoke and started to heat up, where the smoke was going into the cabin. I was driving with my son, who was scared for his life as we thought the vehicle was about to catch on fire. Being we were driving on the highway, it would be some time till I could pull over to safety. BMW NA asked us for our financials and contract for the vehicle purchase, but nothing has been done. We have officially been consistently in a loaner for over 5 months. I’m sick of it, it’s not fair to us, yet we have to pay the price. We have a 2016 Mercedes S550 and it’s our 3rd one, and no issues. We also had a 2012 BMW 750 and similar issues. I’m giving BMW 2 weeks to make this right.

This is regarding my 16 months old BMW 5 series, RJ 14 CF 0999. As you can read the previous mails, I have been raising the concern for the quality of tyres since May 2018. That is within 4 months of purchase of a brand new 5 Series, luxury line BMW. The tyres installed in the car were Pirelli, and after 3rd incident of car tyre bursting, we took the matter to our nearest and purchase dealership, SANGHI MOTORS in January. We waited for the Sales Representative, Mr Ankit ** over there as he held the car between 24 December to 22 January, roughly for a period of 1 month for inspection and other undisclosed reasons. Finally when enough mails were ignored, I had to purchase an MRF tyre from the MRF dealer shop.Meanwhile on 17th January we renewed the insurance for Depreciation shield and Tyre and BMW secure. In March 2019, the front side car tyre bursted on the highway again leaving us, the owners, yet again stranded on the Highway for the 3rd time since the purchase. Again dusting off all the responsibilities, BMW Service executives maintained that the car was being driven in wrong conditions. Now despite taking all the necessary covers and insurances, I am unable to experience a satisfactory experience with BMW. My family personally own cars Jaguar XJL, Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Audi A6, Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes ML 250, amongst our elite cars in our firm, M/s Gulshan Rai Jain II. Never have I experienced such substandard quality that the LIFE THREATENING conditions happen in these cars. The Pirelli tyres have been depreciated at 50% and 25%. Due to the bursting of substandard tyres the rims were also bent. BMW Sanghi Motors have depreciated the Rims at 20% and comfortably charged me that as well.SUMMING UP. I am unable to understand why I am liable to pay for 4 substandard tyres and for 2 rims as well, when the car has not even completed 18,000 kms. If the tyre is substandard and is prone to bursting then the car will come on rims. And if the rims are also substandard, then the company should take action. Moreover if 4 isolated incidents of BURSTING OF CAR TYRES have happened and BMW SANGHI CLASSIC MAINTAINS THAT CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN IN WRONG CONDITIONS. If BMW seriously believes that 4 times car tyre has been bursted due to driving conditions THEN I AM NOT AFRAID TO HIGHLIGHT THIS MATTER TO PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE TO BE JUDGED. I dont want to blame with insurance company, so please dont direct me towards them as they have no role in providing me substandard material in the first place.

I purchased a low miles used BMWX3 2011, and less than a year Im having issues with the drivetrain error that seemingly many owners have experienced. As I scrolled through several websites viewing comments of this issue in several models of BMWs, Im finding out this issue should be a recall issue. Whats the deal BMW?

In 2014 I decided I wanted to drive the ultimate driving machine. What a mistake. I asked my cousin who works at a dealership to locate something for me. In June 2014 I purchased my 2011 BMW 328i xdrive SULEV with 29k. I purchased extended warranty and Gap insurance for slightly over $30,000. I realized I overpaid but I was okay with it because I really wanted this vehicle. A few months into it my car began shaking violently and had a very rough idle. I had to replace spark plugs and coils. A few months after that it started having electrical problems. The car would turn off the heat, ac, radio, and lights. I had to replace an electrical module at 45k. I contacted BMW and they offered to pay 95%. I was satisfied until another few months went by and my car kept stalling, launching itself into traffic, shutting off and turning back on while I was on the highway, and wouldnt keep momentum. Turns out the fuel line broke off in my tank and I needed to replace the fuel tank at 50k. I called BMW again and they offered to replace it with only $250 out of my pocket... At this point I decided this car is a nightmare and I wanted out. Too upside down to replace it I decided Ive replaced enough and it should be good to go for a few years. NOW its idling rough again, hesitating to move and shaking violently once again. BMW offered me a $1,000 loyalty to trade out but dealerships are only offering $15,000 and I owe $26,000. For the age and mileage of this vehicle I should not have had it in the shop more than 5 times for serious maintenance. This car is a nightmare!!!! I would NEVER recommend BMW to friends or family members unless they dont mind having it in the shop more than on the road. Between electrical issues, faulty fuel pump/fuel line, coils, and an obnoxious ticking sound I have more of a headache than an ultimate driving machine. Its more like the ultimate pain in the butt. The cigarette lighter has never worked so I cannot plug in a GPS. When I have my ipod or Pandora playing the radio will randomly change the song or shut my music off and default to the radio. It also gets so hot that the radio stops working and says HIGH TEMP. It overheats and wont play music and turns off the AC or the heat randomly. For the price of these vehicles new and pre-owned they should not have THIS many issues. I have less than 65k on it and it constantly fails me. BMW is by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. If youre considering a luxury brand try Lexus or Infiniti. BMWs are a waste of money!!

I dont know where you went to have your oil changed, but I do know most of the drive thru oil change places have poor, untrained employees who know nothing about cars, changing your oil. Its very possible one of these employees introduced oil to your cooling system via the overflow tank which could have long term effects on your engine, water pump, etc. I believe if you are a BMW owner or German car owner in general, you need to have some basic automotive understanding which would include NOT taking your car to any random oil change place. Learn how to do it yourself using the correct oil, filter and tools, and it can be so rewarding. Or take it to someone who cares about your car as much as you do...

I contacted BMW customer relations as my sunroof was not closing properly. I had extended warranty but I received a follow-up call to notify me that BMW would not honor the repairs. My request for an additional escalation path was denied by Paige and Erin (customer service manager/supervisor) because according to them, they were at the highest level. I requested the physical street address for the corporate office in NJ, in which I was also denied. They do not escalate cases and if you open a complaint, they do not tell you what they would do with that. They also refuse to send you a letter, which gives the reason for denial. BMW customer relations sucks big time!

I have a 2011 BMW 528i Sedan. Bought as a CPO, with factory warranty for about a year remaining at the time of purchase. From the beginning, I have noticed that trying to brake moderately quickly at low speeds (10 - 20 MPH) would create a very bad clunk from the front-end. Trying to reapply the brake quickly while the car is starting to roll (driving off) will cause a smaller clunk and a very noticeable vibration of the whole body of the car. Dealer replaced the thrust-rod bushings in the front, but that did not fix it.Later, the dealer (perhaps under instructions from BMW?) started claiming that the clunk was normal, since it was found in other 5-series cars!! They would simply not regard the fact that other BMW cars dont exhibit the same problem, and heck, even the non-luxury cars from Honda / Toyota / Nissan / Hyundai / GM / Ford etc. etc. dont exhibit this problem!!Now I am close to the expiration of factory warranty. In the last month or so, I have started noticing a metallic knock from the rear axle area when braking at 15-20 MPH speed, a clicking noise from the front passenger door while slowing down, various creaks/squeaks from various parts of the body at random while driving, unusually heavy rattling from the driver and front passenger doors/windows on rough pavement...I have taken the car to the dealer for these various noises, and the dealer has not been able to replicate these noises, other than just one rattle from the coin box. A LOT OF PROBLEMS, in one sentence. To make matters worse, MOST of the things outside the power-train seem to be excluded under the BMW CPO warranty. I am not really sure what to do, as the factory warranty is about to expire in just two weeks..

My 2005 645 CI is as awesome as it is a nightmare. It drives great, it looks great but I have had problems with the convertible top since I bought the vehicle. While driving with the top closed, a warning comes on: convertible top not locked. At this point the convertible top and the rear window cannot be operated, and if the rear window was open at the time that the warning came on, such window is stuck in the open position. At times such warning disappears while I continue driving a few moments or a few miles, at times it disappears after the engine has been shut down, and at times it continues to stay on until the problem is fixed by the dealer. The car has been at the dealer for this reason more than 15 times, the rotation sensors have been changed three times and they have been re-adjusted and/or re-positioned the other times. In 2010, I wrote about such problem to the management of the local dealer, as well as to BMW USA. The malfunction continues to happen, regardless. I just got back the vehicle from the dealer 2 days ago (beginning of August 2012), still for the same reason. I am reaching the point where if the problem re-occurs, I am going to dump my loved/hated car.

This is the worst car I have ever owned. Bought in 2001 for a hefty sum, and every year, some minor stuff had to be fixed (heater fan stopped working, windows would not roll up, door handles peeled off, roof dashboard lining all bubbled up...irritating small things that added up to quite a lot). The service engine soon indicator kept going on and off, and the dealer said there were faulty sensors that needed replacing for only 800 USD. This is about 6 months after I just paid close to 4K for 100K maintenance. Then yesterday, the transmission warning came on, and the car started driving like pedaling a bicycle uphill. The motor had such a hard time I took it straight to the dealer. I was told the gears on the transmission wore out! The car had one driver, who took it to all the required maintenance, and always drove it in auto mode. For the transmission to give up after 110,000 miles is expected of a BMW. I had a Camry that lasted me 15 years without a problem!!! I am really disappointed with this car. My advice -- Do not , NOT, NOT, buy this junkie car. I do not know what happened. I will never buy a BMW, will not take one even if it was offered to me!!! Done with this car, done with the dealer, done and totally pissed off with this company. Euro junk, german funk.

Purchased a tire/wheel protection plan (scam) for $1600. When I leased my X3. I took my vehicle into BMW in Bridgewater NJ three times for a tire that had a constant leak and was in need of replacement. Each time I was advised it only needed air. I returned my vehicle to Flemington BMW, where I initially leased it and went across the street and leased another from Flemington Lincoln. I was totally insulted when I received my Lease termination Inspection report only to find that the tire that I bought in to be repaired (right front - run flat) tread was measured to be 3/32. Apparently 1/32 below the acceptable wear and as a result was charged an $300. In addition to a $350 disposition fee for not leasing another BMW.My husband called BMW customer service and complained to Charles ** about what a rip off scam this was and that we wanted to see the tire they measured so can measure it to see this 1/32, when the rest of the tires were above their so called standards. Mr ** had no remedy for my problem and was virtually speechless. First and last BMW. Tire wheel protection with them is definitely a JOKE! Management at Flemington BMW did nothing! Lost a customer.

I purchased my 2012 BMW X5 last November with 18K miles and a factory warranty. I brought the car in for its first service (in June, the computer told me) and oil change and to fix the tire air sensor. After the oil change was completed and supposedly the air tire sensor was fixed, I was told to call the service rep if I had any more issues. Well within a few minutes of leaving the dealer, the light flashed on and off and has been doing this ever since. Well I took it in today for another schedule service apt. - rear brakes (the computer told me too) - and to again check out the tire air sensor. I was told this would take one or two hours, so I waited (I was told they were out of loaners). (Note: work is over an hour away and home is 1/2 hour away). After over 3 hours, I got the car back and was told that I would have to come back yet again to fix this complicated tire air sensor - a couple of days will be needed to troubleshoot this issue, which I dont really care that much about. Air sensors are problematic on a lot of cars. I got in my car and the car said service check (computer) in two thousand miles (about maybe 6 weeks for me). So back at the dealer soon.Well I regret buying a BMW. It is an excellent ride. I didnt realize I would be spending so much time at the dealer for service for a late model car with relatively low mileage. So not worth it unless you live within a few minutes of the dealer. And yes the dealer will give me a ride anywhere! I work for myself, so every hour I am sitting in the dealer is an hour I am not getting paid for. I wish BMW would take some consideration for our time and realize not all of us have time to visit the BMW service dept. every month. I hope to get rid of this vehicle soon. So now I have to bring the car back for the third time - for the same issue. Oh well thats what I get for buying a BMW.

BMW X1 is absolutely ** car. I am regretting the day I bought BMW -X1 20D from Navnit Motors. It has given me more grief than pleasure, and the guys I bought it from dont even have the basic courtesy to get back to me or call me or reply to my email; attitude stinks, they sell the car and forget about it. Thats the attitude Navnit and its staff has; go to hell. I bought an XI -20d last year, Invoice no ** dated 21-3-12 from Navnit Motors in Narain Pro Audio Lighting Pvt Ld and I have driven less than 3000 km. from 21st April 2012 till 21st March 2013 as the car is still in BMW repair center and I have driven here 6-7 times to my bungalow in Lonavala. I hardly use this car in Mumbai. The front wind shield glass got damaged sometime last year while cleaning the car on the passenger side. I had BMW secure and Navnit replaced the glass and charged me Rs 1500 but I lost no claims bonus plus the headache of traveling from Bhiwandi to Andheri to and fro and wasting my entire day, money and petrol. After that, both the 2 rear windows were not working and I sent the car to Navnit service station and it was stated that the motors need to be changed as they were defective, and the motors were replaced and its working okay now. I dont understand why the motors should break down so easily. This is obviously the case of substandard motors used. Now again the glass has broken on 19th March 2013,while cleaning the car at the same point as last time on passenger side. This is definitely a manufacturing defect. The toughened glass has to take a lot of abuse. Why should it break like this? It cannot even take the load of its own wiper. In discussions spanning almost 2 hours with Prakash **, I came to realize that both the left and right side wipers were different with different curvatures. Prakash stated that maybe a stone or flying object had hit the glass. I physically removed the wiper blade from its attachment and we checked that the lower part fitted on the car was touching the glass, where the crack had started. So we both arrived to the conclusion that the windshield was broken due to the wiper falling on the glass on the passenger side. Further, I let the wiper slip from my hands with its maximum inherent force to touch the glass at least 15 times on the drivers side but nothing happened to the glass. Why should it break the glass not once but twice on the same side and at the same point? A car of this quality is supposed to handle a lot of abuse and XI cannot even take the pressure of its own wiper which is absolutely ridiculous, obviously a drop test with several thousand times drop of the wiper on the windshield which ensures unbreakability by its own wiper is not taken or maybe the curvature of the wiper is such that it breaks the glass or maybe the padding is inadequate but I feel absolutely cheated by buying such a substandard productI am just too scared to even get my car washed or even take it out, for anyone on the street can just accidentally take the wiper up and put it down on the wind shield and the glass breaks again. When I called about the basic charge which was Rs 1500, I was told by Sameera that the charges are Rs 2500 and I would have to pay a couple of thousand more for rubber charges, and when I spoke to Miss ** in Service, I was told that Rs 1500 only need to be paid and not Rs 2500 as my insurance was done in March12 and the charges were hiked from April 2012. I am shocked that anything is quoted just to milk the customer more and there is no fixed policy of Navnit.Further, I had gone to the service station and met the head, Mr. Ravi **, and he was abrupt to the point of rudeness and he was just saying he had a meeting at 12:30 and had to leave and when I told him about the glass breaking twice on the same side and motors failing in almost a brand new car as it is driven less than 3000 km., he just said, It happens, and gave vague reasoning that electronic components like motors can fail without any rhyme or reason. I was zapped by his answer. Now these are high quality geared motors and the test method involves thousands of times to do up and down and 2 motors failing at the same time is not a coincidence and that, too, when we have hardly used the car and in less than a yearFor the record, I would like to state that my son or I personally drive the BMW and we dont let our driver touch the car and even the inside cleaning is done under my sons supervision as we dont hand over the keys to anyone excluding my son and myself. We treat it like a baby. I have been dealing with BMW such as Suchita/Pritesh/Kuber/ ameera,/Ashwini /Prakash (service), Miss **(service)/ Ravi (Service ) but none of them have even bothered to call back or answer my grievance. What precaution has been taken that the glass does not break yet again? I am thoroughly disgusted with the car and specially the attitude of the dealer and its staff. We bought the BMW x1 thinking that we would have a superior quality product but even a Nano costing 1/12 the price we paid would have been better. In my 33 years of driving spanning at least 30-32 different varieties and makes of cars, no glass has broken like this, not even once (wiper touching the glass) or motors damaged within 9 months of use and that too not once but twice, I would take this up on public forum and I am going to put this on all websites of manufacturers of BMWs rivals so that maximum people are aware of this if my concerns are not addressed as it is a clear case of selling me a substandard product and cheating.

On August 24, 2014 I purchased a used 2009 BMW 335i with 58,213 miles. Unfortunately, from the time I drove vehicle off parking lot, it has been nothing but a money pit. I will start out with when I had to return the car to dealership shortly after purchase because the sunroof did not work properly. The problem was fixed, however it was just the beginning because more problems ensued and it seems like there is no end in sight. Not long after, check engine light is always on, I think it is the oil, even though it is about three months that I have car. I take car to get oil changed only to find out that it needs new shocks. I paid handsomely for new shocks in hopes that I am good with car. However, when I collected the vehicle and started using it again, a problem still existed. Three weeks later, I take it back to mechanic and they do a diagnostics test and determine that its the engine! The engine cylinders are misfiring. I havent had this car for 6 months and there is a major problem. My warranty was up but I was led to believe with the 82 point inspection that I had a good car, I mean its a BMW. Engine problems are big deals which is why I had to contact the dealership. The person who sold the car to me, took car to get checked out with the dealerships BMW service. The diagnosis I was given was that I needed to be using high quality gas and dont go below a quarter of a tank before refilling. I was then sent on my way. I was patient but two months pass and check engine light still lighting up. My car is shaking and I now know I have a LEMON of an expensive car. I actually took car to the San Antonio BMW dealership because I wanted to know if they had seen the car and I was told that dealership never brought the car in to check for misfires. So I contacted dealership again and thankfully, management agreed have the engine cylinder misfires fixed. After that repair they were done with me. I really felt that all problems were resolved and now I must maintain and keep up with repairs that would happen as more mileage was put on the car. I had forgotten that I actually had a lemon of a car. My nightmare was really about to begin. In August, it will be three years since the purchase of this 2009 BMW which currently has approximately 97,200 miles. Here is the rundown on repairs since purchase, however I may have left some out: Water pump, New tires (the warranty dealership sold me was bogus), Coolant, Serpentine belt, Air conditioning, Brakes, Oil pan gasket, Valve cover gasket, Oil hoses, Engine drive belt and tensioner, Spark plugs, Direct engine coils, Upper and lower pulleys. As of today, the car is in the shop because it turns out that the reason the power steering belt keeps breaking (second time it was replaced was in April 2017 so this is third time to replace) is because there is a crack in a mounting bracket of the power steering pump. Mind you, I had taken the car to the BMW dealership for a diagnostics test on June 27 June 30, 2017 because the car had been running in limp mode since May which is dangerous especially driving during rush hours to and from work. Our mechanics diagnosis suggested it could be an indicator that the high pressure fuel pump needs to be replaced and mechanic did not want to work on it in the event that it was the high pressure fuel pump which is under warranty and only the BMW dealership is able to replace. The car was at dealership for three days for diagnostics only to find out that it was not the high pressure fuel pump but the low pressure fuel pump sensor. Upon reflection, I learn that not all issues with car can be determined with diagnostics otherwise that power steering bracket crack would have been revealed since I was having to replace the belt for the third time. The costs for repairs are power steering problem is approximately $1100 and fuel sensor approximately $500, I hope. Fuel sensor pump is scheduled to be fixed this Thursday with the dealership but now I will probably have to rescheduled since I just had to pay $1305 for the spark plugs, coils and valve cover gasket. Total costs thus far, are well over $11,000 and rising after this repair be worked on now. No worries I have receipts. I have been so frustrated and overwhelmed with these car problems that no one should have to deal with in this short period of time for a presumably well-made top of the line car. I have been inconvenienced because of the many times of being carless and have taken time off from work to get car repaired because mechanics do not work weekends and as a teacher I have to schedule based on my teaching schedule. I contacted BMW North America because I wanted to know if these problems are typical and if I had any recourse to consider. They take no responsibility for a lemon of a car and advised that I contact the dealership who sold me the car because they had no records on the maintenance of the car. I also informed the lienholder because the cost of repairs and still owning on the car just doesnt make any sense to hold on to a lemon of a car. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE BUY A BMW! I understand maintenance and replacing parts but geez this car started falling apart at 60,000 miles. Now the only recourse I have is to trade in car while I am upside down and buy something safer and less expensive because I cant afford more repairs. Amazing how these top of the line car manufacturers take no accountability for such poorly manufactured cars. I was suckered by the name brand and thinking it made it a better vehicle. Live and learn.

I have never had a worse experience in purchasing a new car than from Schomp BMW (Highlands Ranch, CO). Sales people were warm and friendly but management and the quality of the car was terrible. The day I took the car off the lot, check engine light came on. Called my sales rep and he asked me to bring the car in to get it reviewed and fixed. Two weeks later, I got the car back. One week after that, engine light came on, yet again. Same as before, waited two weeks to get the car back. I was hoping this was the end of it. One day later, check engine light. At this point, I was incredibly frustrated and concerned that I bought a lemon given its been in the shop 3 times with less than 400 miles on the car.Asked Schomp BMW to provide an extended warranty given how many times I had to bring it back into the shop for repairs. Management was willing to look into the warranty and mentioned they would go to bat for me. They also asked if I would be willing to pay another $1K for the warranty if needed and wanted to manage expectations. I said absolutely not given the number of issues I have had with the brand new car. They called me back a couple days later and said they could provide the warranty if I pay $2K. Thats double what they initially told me! You dont set the anchor price in one conversation and then double it in another. Thats Sales 101.I ended up giving the car back to Schomp and getting a refund. Its a bummer. I really liked the car and was also working with the Sales rep on purchasing another vehicle. They are playing the short game and lost a long-term customer as I will never buy a BWM or another car from a Schomp dealership. What a terrible experience.

And in the meantime not compensation for the lease payments while we are waiting for that piece from BMW! For the past 10 months I have been unsuccessful in getting BMW North America to pay a rebate. If this was the first time I would accept this as just bad luck - however in ALL cases that I have applied for rebates the same BMW policy/process has been adopted to reject a rebate claim regardless if all documents have been submitted correctly. BMW should not offer rebates if the intent is not to pay the rebate or they make it so difficult that the average person just gives up as the rebate value does not warrant the effort.I have received excellent (amazing) service from Darian BMW for the past 7 years, however BMWs corporate policy regarding automatic rejection of rebates is an unethical business practice and is going to drive customers like myself to support competing manufacturer like Discovery who honor their programs and pay rebates promptly. I have applied for 3 rebates in the past 6 years from BMW, with only one rebate been paid after many months of continues arguments and re-submissions.Rebate 1: After months of following up I was informed that the first rebate was received by BMW but the voucher needed to be submitted by myself as the program had ended. BMW North America informed me that it is the customers responsibility to retain advertising documents as proof of rebate. As I did not retain a copy of the advertising documents, and was unable to get a copy from BMW the claim was rejected and not paid.Rebate 2: I submitted a rebate claim with advertising documents and BMW invoice. As with rebate 1 the application was in the system and been processed, however after 3 months of continues follow-up I was informed that the application was rejected as not all of the paperwork was received (even though BMW had confirmed previously that documents had been received and payment was been processed). In this case I had proof of submission and that all paperwork was provided.BMW apologized and said they would process, however 2 months later I followed up to query why I did not receive the rebate. BMW informed me that they are unable to process the rebate as they have no record of the rebate program. Having learnt from the first rebate I retained all documents. I resubmitted (3 times) the paperwork with a copy of the rebate advertising documents etc. BMW once again apologized and finally processed the rebate. Total process time over 8 months with numerous calls, emails and re-submissions.Rebate 3: Rebate 3 was submitted with Rebate 2 (same time) as the work was completed at the same time. BMW received all paperwork but in this case BMW North America forgot to process this rebate with rebate 2. BMW apologized and at first agreed to honor the rebate. After 9 months of continues follow-up BMW North America have informed me that they do not have the money to pay this rebate and that payment will need to be processed from BMW Germany? BMW North America acknowledge receipt of all the paperwork including the advertising documents. Today (02/07/2017) I receive a call from BMW North America notifying me that I am refusing to submit the paperwork and therefore BMW are unable to process the rebate???

I bought my car in May. I unfortunately hit a deer at 60mph. I walked away without a scratch as the car protected me completely. I hit the deer head on. This is as safe as you can be in this car. The performance is amazing and you get great fuel economy. I highly recommend this car.

My girlfriend drove her BMW 328I up from Florida on Sept. 24th, and when she got it here, she noticed that the window was down and would not roll up (motor broken). It was late at night, so we didnt want to leave the car out on the street with a window down in NYC. We called BMW Roadside Assistance and they had a tow truck company come pick up the car. Since it was late, they said they would take the car to their lot and then drop it off at BMW Dealership the following morning. The next morning, the tow company called us and said they dropped it off and it would be ready in a couple of days. We then called the BMW dealership when we thought the car would be ready, and they informed us that they never received the car nor had any information on the car. It turned out that the tow company wrecked the car, and they were trying to cover it up and fix the car themselves. They basically took the car to a chop shop in the Bronx and it looked like they were trying to replace parts of the car with aftermarket parts that were not BMWs. We went to the Bronx with the cops and had another tow truck come out and move the car to the BMW dealership. It has now been exactly 1 month and BMW has not even started working on the car yet. We filed claims with BMW Roadside Assistance and BMW Customer Service, and they never get back to us when we call to try and figure out what is going on. I have been getting the runaround from everyone I speak with and when I ask to speak to a supervisor, they say they have no other contacts they can give. The BMW dealership has tried to contact Roadside Assistance, and they are not even able to get a hold of them. Now the dealership wants to charge $85 a day for storage of the car. Meanwhile, weve been without a car this whole time and there is no end in sight on when the car will be fixed. At this point, Im not really sure what to do, or what legal action we should take. Any help you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering whether you might be interested in running a story about what to watch out for when leasing a car. I am having a very difficult time with BMW Financial Services organization and have identified at least 4 ways that their owners choice agreement does harm to the customer. I learned a lot and thought it could be of potential interest to your readers. After turning in my i3 at the two year lease end, and making every payment like clockwork, and returning the car in immaculate condition (nothing found wrong by the independent examiner), they are suddenly hounding me to pay them $353 purportedly so they can use that money to sell the car to someone else. What, I said? I leased the car from you, its your responsibility to sell it. I have tried talking to them but they claim that this money clawback fee, is somewhere buried in the fine print of their agreement.Strangely, no matter how many times I spoke with all of the people at the dealership no one ever made me aware of this situation. And the Financial Services Group was irrational when I called them. When I explained that I bought another i3 but I didnt finance it, they wouldnt take off the fee. It would seem that finance group at the dealership needs to tell the customer when we are in there signing pages and pages of documents. But my real wonder here is why BMW management would want to pursue this after the fact, fee extraction extortion strategy.I was told, now after the fact, that had I did another financing with BMW finance they would have waived the fee. However, the reason I didnt buy the i3 I had from the dealer was because I was told that I would have to pay a $2,200 customer loyalty fee over the street value of the car. And I actually have this in writing. Is this a rational thing for a customer to be told? Is that what loyalty means to BMW Finance. Hey you are loyal, so you need to pay $2,200 more for the car? For $350, and what they want it for, I can tell you that they arent earning goodwill and keep customers this way. I have two other tax issues that harmed me that was also part of their program. These were tax related and needlessly abusive policies. Anyway, I dont think I will be leasing another car from BMW Finance.

Im in the military, and when I went to look at cars they told me leasing was the way to go. When I explained that I move a lot and that the chances of me still being in the area when the lease was over were slim they said that wasnt an issue. They said they worked with military people all the time and knew how everything went. Well 3 years goes by and I have to turn in my car. I was told if I turned it in with miles to use Id be reimbursed. I was 8,000 miles under didnt get a penny. Then I am told I have to pay a 300 dollar fee for not getting another BMW. So I was not happy to say the least... then a year later I get a bill for property tax in a state Im not a resident in and never even registered the car in.Apparently they like to leave out that because you lease it means the title belongs to them not you and the states dont allow the exceptions because the title is owned by BMW. Horrible experience trying to deal with this and in the end had to pay a tax I never should have had to pay. Stay away from BMW leasing if you are a Soldier.

I purchased a 2006 BMW 750li new from Reaves Motorcars of Tampa. I noticed the paint starting falling this year. I took it to the dealer who stated he felt there was a defect in the paint/clear coat. He called BMW to come look at the problem. On the once a month visit from the regional manager, Bill **, I was called by the dealer to drop the car off for his review. When I came to pick the car up the service tech informed me that it was not warranted. I was also informed that he never even looked at the car. I then spoke to the general manager, Kelly **, who gave me the 800 number for BMW customer relations. I called them and explained the problem and they scheduled another time for the same rep, Bill **, to actually look at the problem. I went to the dealer to meet the rep to discuss the problem; he no-showed and let me sit at dealership waiting on him. I called the 800 number and I expressed my frustration about the unprofessional behavior of the rep. When I got home I received a blocked caller ID call from the rep who asked to come look at the problem but never apologized for his no-show. He showed up at my home with an obvious attitude, looked at the car and said it was not warranted. I was very disappointed. I then took the car to a different dealer, Bert **, to get a repair done unrelated to the paint. When completed I asked for a price to have the paint repaired. I received a call from the service tech who stated they thought I should have the BMW rep look at the paint as they felt there was a defect. I asked who the rep was and the answer was Bill **, the same rep from the other dealer. I explained his past evaluation and asked for a price anyway. I called the 800 number again and shared my concern and they said there would be no further action in spite of my request for a different set of eyes. I feel BMW has poor representation and does not want to fix their defect. I would not recommend a BMW. I will get the car repainted and submit a claim in court.

I purchased a BMW 318ti in December 2009. I started experiencing a never ending coolant problem on the car since July 2010 and until at present. In over a year, Ive spent the total amount of R26475.05 trying to get this problem resolved. Every three to four months, the car has the same problem. Every time I take it to a BMW dealer, they never take responsibility for the previous work or parts that was replaced on the car. They double charged me, and I cannot seem to get the problem resolved. The car has been booked in numerous times; if a service is requested to be done on the car, they claim they have done full diagnostic tests on the car. So, how come I have to fork out a fortune every three to four months to fix the car?

They never got my request and realized when I called that did not even know where the web inquiries went!!! They basically wash their hands of any support. Im a BMW lover and now owner of a 328xi series. I wouldnt have ever thought that I would become a lover of BMW knowing my dream was to have a drop top four door Lexus. But once my husband brought me to your curious dealership to test drive one of your 3 series model, I was sold. The car drove like it knew me and the sales associate made my drive easier by informing me about the developed and smart function on the vehicle. I was impressed and sold. I went home cooking and buyer way into my husband heart to get that 328xi. I guess it worked because the next week I drove my new man home. I loved my car until after driving it for four months. I’ve been to the Oyster Bay Dealership three times due to the malfunction sign that continues to show up on my dash board. I drove around stopping female BMW owner wondering if the malfunction sign appears on their dash any time they place their bag down, and they informed me that it does occur. I was so disappointed to hear this. I went online and noticed that BMW is # 6, in the top driven car selected by woman at 60.31 percent. I was also shocked to see that too. I think BMW is a great car for woman considering its sex appeal and the smart and easy functions. But now I understand why this is true. The car insides arent accessible for woman. Women need car that is enjoyable on the inside. Many women also work, manage to take of our kids and would like to be sexy at the same time. Its very disappointing when you have everything you want except what you need. Women are go getter too and we are growing every day. If you do a survey within your company and ask the men to ask their wifes where they place their hand bags, Im sure they would say on the front seat. Women have grown to be great consumers in the world now. We like to buy what we like. Studies show that one legacy of this recession is that women become a majority of the work force for the first time in American history. This information should give you more insight on how important it is to please a woman, will do whatever it take to feel complete and to be happy. Im writing to you today not only to complain, but to express the inconvenience it is for me to drive from Canarsie in Brooklyn to Oyster Bay, Long Island about 3 times out of four months to correct this malfunction issue. I continually think each time I get in the car, if something is wrong and is this car safe to drive God forbids if an accident occurs. Im very understanding the first time but the third time, I was in tears because I started to believe I received a used car, not an off the showroom car. Please believe that it wasnt easy for me to write this letter because Im a woman of patience. But it’s not easy for a married woman with children that has three jobs then have to drop what Im doing or take off from work to drive nearly an hour away just to get this problem fixed. I understand that your job is to deliver a car that make sense, drive smoothly, have a sleet look, economy friendly and safe. I must say BMW has all of those qualities except the nice accessory for a womans hand bag, preferably a hook on the side that slide in or out that we can place our hand bags. I believe this will bring your company in first place on the charts where it belongs and make us women a little happier. Thank you.

I owned a 2008 BMW 335i and experienced the same issue that is being recalled on the 2010- 012 models. I now own a CPO 2011 335i and the starting my car sounds as if the car hasnt been cranked in 2 months. While in park the engine is super loud and revs for no apparent reason. The dealerships are nothing but vacuums for money. After having a tire replaced for the 2008 at one dealership, the water pump failed less than 5 feet of the service garage door; but I was told this was normal and could happened. Please note that the car never had any warning signs of overheating or loss of a/c power or anything. This was $1200 to fix. The service manager was smug and uninterested in my concerns. His only offer was to allow me to leave my car on their premises and charge me a fair rate for renting a car. On the same 2008 model, I was driving on the expressway and out of the blue my car loses engine power and goes into safe mode. This was $800 to fix. I contacted BMW customer care and the rep couldve cared less, telling me I was out of warranty and nothing they could do about it. If this automaker cared anything for their customers they would deliver superior products and superior customer service. Unfortunately, this automaker fall short on both.

My 2004 BMW 525 headlights have completely hazed over. I have tried several aftermarket products for headlight lens restoration. This has not worked or even made them marginally clearer. My dealer service person believes that the lenses were made of a lower quality plastic in this time frame compared to newer models. The only repair is to replace the whole headlight assemblies at $2,000 each. The Customer Relations person at BMW USA cheerfully took the complaint and said that nothing would be done. I purchased a 2008 BMW 335i as a second owner. Then, I discovered after the purchase that the title was branded lemon--manufacturer buy-back. Carfax did not have the word lemon until two years later when the state of California required the word lemon be added. Regardless, the BMW was a buy-back at 4,000 miles because the fuel pump failed. Eight months later, the below recall was issued:VOLUNTARY RECALL: BMW High-Pressure Fuel Pump Voluntary Emissions Recall--models w/ N54.The upshot of this is that my car was branded a lemon due to manufacturing failure but none of the cars post recall were branded as such. BMW refuses to intervene on my behalf to the California DMV, to reserve the title branding; thus, leaving my car worth 25% less than comparable values for this particular model. While trying to trade it at a BMW dealership, they confirmed that it wasnt worth 60% of comparable values.Doesnt BMW USA have a responsibility to make this right? None of this would have been known by me had I not seen a Carfax with the updated lemon language and had I not tried to sell the car, now with 35K miles on it. Please help me. BMW has flatly said that there is no recourse for me.

I was informed by the BMW dealership that my certified 2017 BMW X1 needed a motor mount replaced. The car has 30K miles and I had driven 5K in a little over a year that I owned the car. The warranty does not cover the motor mount however, after only 30K miles, the part must be defective. Furthermore, the cost was quoted as close to $1500. BMW customer service, after speaking with the dealer negotiated the cost down to $600+. I told the BMW rep that it was still not acceptable and would he send me the details of his conversation with me to my Email. I wished to pursue the matter. He said that was not possible! I could not appeal the decision and that was final. I rarely have been spoken to in such a manner as if I were an errant school girl. A take it or leave it attitude. Very shocked about how the BMW company is represented. I would characterize the rep as a junkyard dog. There to discourage the customers. I purchased this BMW 2011 740 li for my wife 9/14 with $55k miles from BMW Murrieta. We have barely had this car two years and has been in the shop 75 days with over $23k paid in repairs. Problems began immediately after we purchased the car. BMW Murrieta told me this car had a thorough 180 point inspection, rear brakes were gone in 300 miles. I took it back and complained, BMW Murrieta warrantied the rear brakes and rotors. 58k Miles - noise in front end, diagnosed as thrust rod bushings, those were replaced. 59K miles, seat motors go out, replaced those. 60k miles - noise in the rear - cv joints went out, replace those. 61k miles, power steering pump starts leaking and making noise, belt tensioner fails as well. Replaced both as well as the accessory belt. 62k miles, check engine light comes on, fuel tank supply line / pressure sensor fails, replaced those, 68k miles, check engine light comes on - turbo low pressure, replaced, gaskets, collars and vacuum lines. 70k miles check engine light comes on, turbo low pressure - turbo failed, replaced turbos and pressure converters. All good for a while. 89k miles, check engine light comes on - fuel injectors fail, replaced all fuel injectors. 92k miles check engine light comes on - transmission leaks all over driveway and slipping. Replaced inner mechatronics seal, fluid, pan and seal. 102k miles check engine light comes on, car overheating - water pump fails, replace water pumps, coolest and various gaskets, seals. 103k miles check engine light comes on - vacuum lines on turbo fail again, also replaced valve cover, gaskets and more sensors. 103.5k miles, transmission cooler leaking, replace cooler and lines. Anyone who doesnt believe me, I have all the service records I would be happy to post.During all this time, BMW Murrieta never recommends that a factory inspector come look at the car for all the issues, BMW America never reaches out to us for any customer service (not sure if they would know this car was in the shop so much unless the dealer would have told them). I call BMW America to see if they can help us at all with all the issues on the car. They open a case to inspect service records, all the money we have spent on repairs at the shop, all the down time, etc. This gets escalated to a gentleman named Kurt ** - Executive Customer Care (the title actually sounds like they care, THEY DONT!!) Two weeks later they call me and tell me the BMW does not meet their criteria for any kind of help. He tells me they wont buy it back, I tell him I dont want or expect them to buy it back. I tell him, Im just hoping you would take a look at the service records, all the money I have spent repairing this car (over half of what I paid for it), take into consideration all the stress, frustration, down time, rental cars, etc. and see if you can help me in any way keep this thing on the road and out of the dealers mechanic bay. Maybe some help with a trade or maybe some kind of help with an extended warranty, he tells me they cannot do anything, the service records and time in the shop do not meet any of their criteria for help.I will never ever buy another BMW in my life. This car has been the biggest joke amongst friends and family. They all warned me not to buy a BMW, especially a used one, even if its a CPO or not, doesnt matter if you buy it from the dealer or not. Once you take the car, youre on your own. BMW will not help you with any issues you have. This BMW is the most unreliable car I have ever owned period. Ill stick to my Chevys, Fords and Hondas.

They sold a car that I returned with my car tracker unit. Since July 2011 they keep on telling that they will tell the current owner to bring the car so that they can remove it and get it fitted in my new car. Till today, they are not giving me back my tracker unit. What is frustrating is that they dont want to tell me the truth or maybe they lost it. I dont know, I just keep on waiting for them.

I was driving my BMW 320d in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. A big speeding truck came from the opposite side and some water on road truck splashed onto the bonnet and front grill of the car and the car stopped immediately. I had to leave the car without trying to start the engine again. The next day, Krishna automobiles, Ludhiana (authorized dealers in Ludhiana of BMW) took away the car on my request.

I bought 2013 BMW 328i xDrive in Sterling, VA. My car has 74k miles on it. This car brand new is about 40k. Total repair cost so far: - At 47k miles - transfer case cover failed. - Cost to repair - $7,500. - At 73k miles - Head display unit, where you see navigation & radio etc, froze and failed. - Cost to repair - $2,200. - At 73k miles - Engine valve cover gasket started leaking oil and the Sterling BMW told me that it is at 8 on a scale of 10 to leak fire and catch fire. - Cost to repair - $1,000. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS SO FAR - CLOSE TO $11,000 = CLOSE TO 25% OF NEW CAR PURCHASE PRICE.I have in my life never ever seen 25% repair costs in first 75k miles on any car I have driven. Highly disappointed and speechless. Thought this was a high end, high quality German built car. I called Sterling dealer, they said they acknowledge the repair price tag and agree that BMW North America should do something about it. So call BMW North America. They said I should have bought extended warranty - Ha!

Since I purchased my new car, we have spent thousands of dollars on repairs, that were always not under warranty. I requested a detailed report of service history, and I was told that I could not get one. The car would go in for a problem, get back, and days later, have what is supposedly a new problem. I was told by the Service and Sales Department, that all BMWs over 50,000 miles fall apart, and always needed fixing. They are a typical car repair service, taking advantage of people who know nothing about cars.

To all that might take an interest in this; this is my first time posting on any consumer complaint forum. So hopefully people dont make the mistake of purchasing a 2009-2014 BMW with an N63 engine and affects five different vehicle classes. These cars are lemons with a long history of mechanical problems, and a class action lawsuit filed in 2015 for excessive oil consumption, drained batteries, and other problems affected by the oil cooled parts inside the car. Visit: ** to see full notice of the court documents, and full story. The final date for filing any paperwork to claim your vehicle under the class action was October 10th 2018. Too bad BMW has failed to properly notify owners about this, and still continue to sell these cars without advising anyone about the litigation behind them.In August 2016 I purchased a used 2012 BMW 750LI M Sport with 38,482 miles. The car was sold to me by a private dealership in Los Angeles, and was a one owner lease return that originated from BMW of Santa Monica, CA. The car had a clear title, and free of defects, and I paid 42K out the door price with tax & extended warranty to protect me through 100K miles for any possible mechanical issues that could arise with the car. Since that time Ive had nothing but problems since I bought it that started with minor things like ignition coils, spark plugs, and check engine lights. Excessive oil consumption was noticed immediately the first year I owned it, and constantly had to top off the oil. Ive meticulously maintained the car since Ive had it and always taken to a certified BMW mechanic. The BMW service centers I dont trust as far as I can throw them, and use a preferred & HONEST BMW mechanic. In July 2018 I took my car into the shop to diagnose several issues going on with the car which now has 92K miles. I wanted to have my mechanic check everything including doing a brake fluid flush, and oil change prior to making another drive into Southern California from Nevada where I currently live. After inspection my mechanic mentioned that the motor was falling apart; The car had leaking turbo hoses, upper oil pan gasket leak, bad steering pump, excessive oil consumption problems, and the engine valve stem seals were shot and explained why smoke would come out of the tailpipe during cold starting, and lastly an electric short underneath the drivers seat that scorched the material underneath and could have caught fire at some point had it continued. In all I was facing $15,000 dollars to complete all repairs. We contacted my extended warranty company who handled the situation great. Due to the extent of the engine problems they sent out an adjuster to verify everything and audited my service records to ensure the car had been properly maintained, and also had video scope photos taken inside the engine of oil cooled timing chain to verify there was no engine deposits or oil gunk build up. It was clean as a whistle, and they indicated since the repairs exceeded the value of new engine they authorized a complete engine replacement in addition to fixing the electrical problems with my seat. The engine was ordered through a BMW dealership in Las Vegas NV in August, and now here we are in November 2018 and still no sign of the engine or status on when we can expect to receive it. Since July Ive had a loaner, and paid out of pocket for extensive rental fees, paying for an auto loan on a car that I cant even drive with still $24K left on it, and have had to register the vehicle as non-operable with the state DMV.After repeated attempts to get a status on the engine by myself personally and my mechanic to get a status on the replacement engine; we still have no information, and appears to be no end in sight. The only reasoning behind the delay of the engine is that they cant find anyone to make a drive camshaft on this motor. The third party company that used to make this part went out of business and they have no alternative currently. Sounded like complete B.S. to me, and I called them on it stating that it sounded like an excuse. At this point Im extremely pissed off, and decided to email BMW Group Germany to ask them if they really cared about their customers. I found the CEO & other executive level members of BMW email addresses including their press secretary. I emailed them and demanded a response to this nonsense with the engine replacement.A couple days later I received a voicemail from a Craig ** @ BMW North America customer care stating that he was calling because I was interested in a RE-PURCHASE of the vehicle. I had missed the call because I was on a business trip. I had no clue what a re-purchase entailed or what the qualifications were, but it was something that THEY suggested. I called back the very next morning which was on a Friday, and he didnt answer so left a message to call me back as soon as possible to discuss what hed mentioned on my voicemail. He waited three days to call me back and returned my call on October 10th 2018. We discussed the re-purchase over the phone which entailed buy back 100% of the vehicle financing, maintenance, and oil used for the car that I had to top off constantly. I loved that option and expressed my interest to get me out of this situation. He said that unfortunately the deadline had passed to have my paperwork submitted under the class action settlement... I said What settlement? I had no clue what he meant. He then said yeah youre calling about the class action lawsuit right? I told him that nobody had ever notified me at any point by mail, phone, or email about a class action lawsuit. Confused he said that well the deadline is October 10th is the deadline to have your request submitted for compensation under the class action. I told Craig that You know today is October 10th right?; He confirmed this and said that there was nothing he could do to consider me for the class action since it was past the deadline as of that day, and apologized for the inconvenience. So I contact BMW - Germany, they contact Craig ** @ BMW North America to ask me about a re-purchase, and then only to tell me that Im past the deadline and theres nothing he could do. WTF? How does this make any sense? Why am I now just finding out about this class action lawsuit?? I became more irate and phoned the BMW dealership that we ordered my new engine from, and demanded to talk to a service manager or parts department manager. I told them on the phone that during this whole time my car has been in the shop, and wed been asking for a status on the engine, or alternatives to put me into another car. I asked them directly if they knew about this class action lawsuit pertaining to my engine? When I cornered them they paused on the phone & said... Yes we knew about it. I said then, Why did you not say anything about it this whole time?? Why was this kept a secret or not disclosed? The person at BMW stated that they were instructed by higher ups not to say anything about it to owners because it was in litigation, and the car owners would be notified at the appropriate time. They continued the same story about the drive camshaft holding up the production of these replacement motors, and that there was roughly 185 of these engines on back order in the entire country. WOW... talk about a cover up right? I hung up the phone on him, and proceeded to email BMW Group Germany again explaining what I just found out, and that dealerships are hiding this information from people to minimize their exposure & loss due to the class action. The very next day after I sent that 2nd email I got a call from Craig ** @ BMW North America again stating that theyd be willing to review my case again as a re-purchase option. I proceeded to email Craig my entire file from the shop that we gave my extended warranty company, and all associated service records. Craig said hed send it out to his field team to be reviewed and a determination would be emailed to me once they made their decision on the matter. After waiting a week I emailed Craig to get a status on the re-purchase decision. He contacted me saying that BMW North America had reviewed my case and have declined to approve my re-purchase request. He would not give any reason as to WHY they were rejecting it, and would not tell me who this field team was. He said he was not able to name the individuals or dealerships that make the decision for their Protection. Protection from what??They also noted on the rejection letter that their last record of service/maintenance records was in February of 2017 which was not true. I had my car serviced at my own BMW certified mechanic, and provided records for that work done, but BMW refused to acknowledge that in their letter to me. So now here are the facts.BMW continues to sell these vehicles and dealerships are intentionally not advising people that there is litigation behind them starting in 2015 when the class action was filed. BMW offered an N63 Customer Care Package at one point to put a band aid on the problem; not calling it a recall, but just making the cars last long enough to make it out of their factory warranties leaving them not liable past that point. BMW has not provided any information or status on when new engines that are paid for out of pocket or by warranty are due to be received. Stating a drive camshaft issue is preventing delivery of these engines with no end in sight. As a consumer I AM SCREWED. No car for almost 6 months, and no money to buy a new one or sell this one to get out of my current loan so I can buy something else. Without delivery of this motor my car is worthless, and no options. BMW Group Germany and BMW North America have zero control of this situation, and dealerships refusing to help take ownership of these problems. This is consumer fraud at its finest, and deliberate false statements, misinformation, are being fed to the public about these N63 motors. The 2009-2014 N63 motors are an aging group entering into high mileage and engines are crapping out with less than 100K miles on them. This is snake oil folks, and BMW knows it. The class action settlement proves the excessive oil consumption problems, and now these same engines are failing with the valve stem seals resulting in repair costs that exceed a new engine cost. They have not done their best to advise the public of this and Im sure theres hundreds of people that might be able to relate to my story. If you have purchased one of these vehicles recently from a dealer, or have extensive repairs resulting in the requirement of a new engine that BMW is not delivering on please email me immediately so we can talk. Right now I know three other people in the Las Vegas area that are affected by this. We need others in the country to step forward & share your story and put a stop to this. BMW & Car Dealerships have screwed the public long enough, and now they need to take ownership of a crappy mass produced product theyve put out into the market. Even if you buy an extended warranty youre still not safe; BMW does not have an answer for this, and if you need an engine replacement youll be waiting until next year. The biggest issue here is that BMW knows that their warranties are nowhere even close to sufficient with the well known documented issues behind these cars. They continue to sell these vehicles used and keep the information hidden from consumers. This is fraud! Look at the new class action filed this November 18. BMW has been defrauding its customers for years on these faulty motors, and continue to get rich. Someone needs to put a stop to this asap. The evidence is there, and plenty of public record & consumer complaints... how are these guys still in business?? If youve been taken advantage of please do the following: File a complaint with your State Attorney Generals office - Contact your local news media - Theres three of us here in Las Vegas affected by this and wed be happy to give a statement & tell our story. If we dont make enough noise this will never stop!

Was recently informed by BMW they are no longer supporting BMW ASSIST which is a feature that INCLUDED (past tense) collision detection as well as stolen vehicle recovery along with other functionality such as being able to send Google directions to the vehicle. My X5 is a 2012 (!) vehicle!!! With all the BS advertising BMW has out there about how great their cars are and how safety is a great concern for their customers, trying to get an answer other than we are sorry for any disappointment this may cause you is totally and complete BS!The manner I found out about their decision to stop supporting these features is not because I purchased one of their vehicles (brand new) but because I noticed the ability to send directions to my vehicle was not working. Pretty pathetic manner to manage customer loyalty. BUYER BEWARE if buying a used BMW... UNDERSTAND CLEARLY your vehicle based on whatever year it may be (2013 BACK...??!) will not have important safety features such as collision detection nor stolen vehicle recovery... period. If I had not purchased an extended warranty to 100 K miles I would be selling this thing ASAP. Will be a cold day in hell before I purchase another vehicle from this company.

Bought a pre certified 2012 X5 BMW with 32,700 miles. At about 35,000 miles noted a jerky acceleration while in the 3,000-4,000 rpm range in standard or sport mode. Took to dealer and they could not get a code to fix or diagnose. Was given vehicle back to continue driving while they looked for help from a district service lead tech. During the time to wait for reply it became more violent in moderate acceleration. There are no sounds associated with this issue, just not a smooth acceleration. Once throttle is no longer calling for medium to hard response the jerking stops and all is normal. Note rpm and shifting are all normal during this jerking. Vehicle was scheduled to go back to address jerking when engine went into safe mode one week before follow up. It was diagnosed at 42,300 miles electric water pump failed. They replaced water pump (under warranty). As to the jerking issue tech was told to remove drive shaft to validate either drive shaft issue or transfer case issue. Once shaft was removed jerking stopped. I did not have any prior vibration so they determined it to be the transfer case. They replaced it with new one (under warranty) and it immediately stopped jerking during medium to hard acceleration. My concern is that with this low mileage and reading several BMW owners with similar issues that this is a major flaw that needs addressing beyond the standard warranty. I was lucky in that mine was diagnosed before the 50,000 mile original warranty expired. I have owned 3 prior BMWs from 2002-2008. I put high mileage on them at 250,000 miles plus so I know them well as to what wears out and when. None prior have had these issues so early in mileage. BMW dealer was excellent in taking care of me (Gault BMW). My concern is going forward into the 100,000 plus range with these parts already failing. BMW you have some issues to address!

I purchased a brand new 2007 BMW 328I in October of 2006. After 6 years of owning that car, I am completely swearing off of BMW for life. Most recently, the steering lock on the car malfunctioned. A few months back, it was an engine overheating problem that caused my engine to completely lose all power in the middle of a busy intersection. Over the years, there were countless incidences of the vehicle losing power. Put all that together with a ride that is hardly ever smooth, lots of jerkiness and delays in acceleration. I contacted BMW to complain about the most recent issue - not because the issue itself, but because of my level of dissatisfaction that a brand as reputable and as costly as BMW would present me with this many issues on a 6-year old car. It pains me to have to say goodbye to a car that is as attractive as the BMW model, but I refuse to spend my hard-earned money with a dishonorable company on a car that under-performs.

One of the issues has been an EVAP leak error which keeps coming up every 6 months. Now they say you have to continue paying to diagnose the same issue that they could not fix. I purchased a used 2005 BMW 525i almost two years ago and it had 52,000 miles on it. Thank goodness I decided to purchase an extended warranty through my lender because at 75,000 miles or so, my transmission started acting up. This vehicle has not been neglected and has been taken good care of. However, I had transmission fault messages on my computer, so I took it in. Turns out that my transmission needed to be replaced. After my $7,000 transmission was put in, I still had problems. They reprogrammed the vehicle to try and fix the problem, and Im still having problems. Its also really slow on take off and it shifts from 2nd to 3rd really hard. And when I slow down, it shifts really hard from 2nd to 1st. All in all, my warranty company has paid out over $10,000 in repairs over the past two years, almost half of what I paid for the vehicle. That is just ridiculous. Ive read so many peoples horror stories about their BMWs transmissions failing and I just wanted to share my story too. I know that BMW is not taking responsibility for any of their vehicles so I felt like I should share. The more people that come forward, the better. Maybe one day BMW will own up to producing some rotten transmissions in their vehicles. All I can say is thank goodness for warranties. But its not about that. Its about your car, your BMW that you love so much, being in service for a month, and having issue after issue. Its frustrating and BMW needs to to tighten up their products.

Two months ago I had to replace a regulator in the rear drivers side window. I own a 2008 BMW 328i BMW. This past week I was on my way to work. Im a international flight attendant and my schedule was for me to be flying for 7 days straight. As I pulled out of my driveway, I tried raising my rear passenger side window. Once again it was broken and would not raise. I stopped at a nearby automotive and the mechanic was able to get the window out of the door and taped it in the up position. There are a lot of thief at any airport at any time of day. I was lucky no one touched my car but shame on BMW. Making a plastic regulator on a car that is supposed to be of high quality. I guess I need to prepare for the 2 front window regulators to go out soon. Plastic is a cheap inferior product compared to metal. It cost a lot a time I put the car in the shop. Your products and mechanics are over rated. The last time I put my car in a BMW dealership for normal check, the mechanic left his drill in the engine. I am selling this car because it doesnt stand up to its name.

Bought 2013 BMW X3 for $50K+. If the car works fine, I would not have any complaints. However, it is not the story. This car costs too much to drive. So far, I have replaced fog light bulbs twice broken in driver side every time. The car does not have spare tire. Therefore, you have to use run-flat tires, which is $400+ each. For run-flat tires, there is no warranty at all. I replace all four tires two months ago and two months later, one tire got a crack. Since it does not have warranty, I have to buy another $400+ tire again. BMW tries to save every penny by transferring cost to their customers. It is not a company to consider customers as the first priority. They try to squeeze money from their customers as much as possible. Will never buy BMW cars again and will never do any business with them again. I learn the lesson through a hard way. Hope you would not make same mistakes as I did. It is a really painful experience.

Complete night and day difference in quality of the vehicle. I will tell as many potential BMW buyers to NOT purchase a BMW. Do NOT purchase BMWs. For the past 6 months I have been experiencing problems with my iPhone 5S and my bluetooth. It has been at the dealer (Budds BMW, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) no less than 6 times to address this issue. The service manager has witnessed the problem and has escalated the problem to BMW Canada and furthered the issue to Germany. Finally, BMW claims to have duplicated the issue and tell me that it is only on certain models of the X5. In any case, the dealer has been reasonable in providing me with a courtesy car while my X5 has been in their shop even though it has been a huge inconvenience to me.Please note, at BMWs insistence I have replaced 2 iPhone 5s and invested all the time necessary to make these changes. I am in corporate sales and rely heavily on the use of my phone while driving. I have chosen apple for all of my products (MacBook, iPhone a number of chargers (6) also the convenience of the icloud)..... especially Siri that allows me to concentrate on driving while Siri reads and dictates my emails and text messages safely. BMW has told me that my only option is to switch to an Android platform phone. They have given this proposal as a take it or leave it. Android phones do not offer a fraction of the features that an iPhone does. I asked BMW Canada when they will have the bluetooth issue resolved. Their reply was that they were working on it with Apple but they did not know when. BMW claims that they cannot be responsible for keeping up with manufacturers software (assuming that is the case, please consider..... of the courtesy BMWs provided by them to me the dealer, I have not experienced one single issue with the bluetooth using the same phone.) In closing, I confess to enjoying my X5 very much; however, this bluetooth issue renders my vehicle unusable given the importance of my phone while driving. Here in Ontario, it is against the law to operate your vehicle without handsfree. I have spoken with both the dealer and BMW Canada that I am not unreasonable and would consider moving to a similar vehicle along with accepting there would be an additional cost involved that should be shared by all parties. I remain open to suggestions/options but BMW is only offering a take it or leave it regarding a change to an Android device. They are not willing to entertain anything else. Regarding the Android device...... I will leave it. My family and friends all drive premium vehicles and are watching the way BMW is dropping the ball. Switch your phone as your only option...... Are you kidding me?!!!!

Our 2003 X5 has just hit 50,000 miles. We have replaced the battery 6 times. Our drivers side door and passenger door would not close in cold temperatures. Our air conditioner quit, was replaced and never worked after spending $1000 for the repair. I could go on. But this time, I went to Watertown BMW CT and after being told countless times about how my issues (11+ repairs that have recurred), that these things are normal and I just dont drive my car enough. The air bag that never worked when we bought the car and finally paid to have repaired post warranty. It still never worked. It was a different part this time and would cost another $600, and on and on. I heard excuses every time. The loaner is all good, but I dont have time for this. Finally this time, I asked about a tail light. The warning was check brake light, check rear lights. I was told by the service manager that my $516 diagnostic fee would have picked this up, it must have been because my brand new one week old 7th battery died right before I took the car in. He swore that their diagnostics picked up everything including the auxiliary fan that wouldnt shut off causing my brand new battery to die for the 6th time. The minute I got into the car, I discovered the same check brake light warning. It is a tail light out. I called and he said, we do have intermittent problems with the lights. I said, I asked you to check it. He blew it off then oh well maam, you can bring it back in and we will fix it. So much for the reliability of their diagnostics! We have owned 4 BMWs in our lifetime. This one has been a joke literally. My car hood is always up outside of our business in town charging the car battery where all can see. The service guy said, we sell extension cords for that. Do you want to buy one?. I say we use it all the time!. BMW has lost their way. I cant say enough about how the dealership will not pay anything that BMW wont pay to them. Therefore, they are experts at making excuses that seem plausible until your warranty is up and you have no recourse. Dont buy a BMW. I purchased a BMW X5 on August 9/15 and have had good experience with the free maintenance on an annual basis. As I approached the 4 year expire date (August 9/19) I was not able to have the vehicle service before that date. I planned to have the vehicle serviced for the last free visit on September 9/19 and was told that the agreement had expired and that there would be no further free visit. As I had initially paid more than I should have for the vehicle (including 4 free maintenance visits) I feel that the final visit should have been honored. I contacted BMW USA and they (unfortunately) will not allow any maintenance past the expiry date. This is a warning to others before you purchase a BMW - DO NOT MISS YOUR FINAL VISIT. I will not be purchasing a future vehicle from BMW.

I purchased a brand new special order 2011 BMW 128i. I love the car and treat it like a baby. It has only 13,000 mile but required new rear tires. Very expensive items and with traction control and safe driving why did it need new tires. I hate the run-flat tires. They are hard as rocks and negatively affect the driving dynamics of the vehicle. The vehicle has no spare or temporary spare. To balance the vehicle, the battery has been placed in the trunk. It would have been wiser to utilize regular tires and provide a temporary spare in the trunk. My battery is now starting to fail. Of course that happened two months after the 4 yr maintenance expired. I just discovered that a new battery costs over $600 because the vehicles computer has to be reprogrammed for the specific battery. Only BMW and a few authorized service centers can perform a battery replacement. So, a $200 battery costs an extra $400 for installation. That is just plain crazy. Hate the tires now, hate the cost of normal maintenance.

There is something so wrong in a car that has a guarantee of 50,000 miles and at 51,000 miles starts to break. My car has 62,000 miles and I have spent about $5,000 on repairs and I need to spend another $5,000 if I want to do everything that the house recommended. My guess is that BMW is learning from Detroits old book of how to go down.

I brought my car in for an issue dealing with the airbag light illuminated on my dashboard. After being given an appointment 3 weeks after I asked for one, I was told that it was a seat motor issue and that the car thinks there is a passenger in the seat and will activate even if none is sitting there in an accident. The repair would cost over $1500. I rejected the offer but asked if they could take off the warning light. They said that it was impossible, that only if they repaired it could that happen. As I was waiting for the return of my car, they told me that now my passenger window wouldnt go up (although not even 20 minutes earlier I had raised it). I was told that the part was a window motor and it would cost $180. Since I had no choice, but found it highly coincidental, I agreed. They kept the car, but did give me a loaner, for 3 days. When I went to pick it up, they had charged me for 2 diagnosis, and $250 for the part. When I said I was told it was $180 the gentleman told Thats the price. $250. I paid. When I got in the car magically the airbag warning had disappeared. I then contacted BMW Canada complaint department. Then I received a phone call from the service department asking me about my experience. I told him and he said the manager would call me back that day. He never did. I called back BMW Canada and they said they would have him call me. Again he never did. After a week I called BMW Canada to complain again and they called him and transferred the call to me. I asked the complaint department to stay on the line as I spoke with him. She said she could not but to call her back after my call with him.I spoke with him for about 5 minutes. He was belligerent and kept saying they were not thieves. He would not give me an explanation as to how this could have happened. Since I was getting nowhere with him, I hung up and called back the complaint department again at BMW Canada. The woman had left for the day (16:00hr). I left numerous messages for BMW Canada to call me and finally heard back. They say there is nothing they can do other than when the dealership comes up for review, bring it up. If this is how BMW deals with their clients, I promise you this will be my last BMW.

Ive been driving BMWs for 15 years and had come to trust the brand. I decided to spend a bit more than I wanted to buy a newer version (6 years, 2007 320D model) to try to reduce the generally high costs of maintaining old BMWs. The car had 80k miles, sounded and drove OK. Little did I know that between 2007 and 2009, BMW built their cars with weak timing chains and located them at the back of the engine where they could not be replaced without complete engine removal. Furthermore, the lower timing sprocket is integral to the crankshaft, so the latter has to be replaced as well even though the shaft is hardly worn (600 for the bit). If the timing chain is slightly noisy (not noticeable to most people), the cost to fix is at least 2000. If the chain fails, the engine instantaneously loses power without warning. If you can recover yourselves safely on foot from the fast lane, or wherever, the bill is at least 5000.My local mechanic noticed the slight noise under the engine. I took it to the BMW dealer who agreed that the chain should be replaced. BMW then declined to offer any good will contribution to the repair cost because the car was out of warranty and had been bought from a non-BMW dealer, even though all but the last two services were carried out by the BMW dealer. I have been advised by an engine repair company that they are repairing 3 or 4 of these engines per week (including other models made in 2007-2009) and that the new timing chain is stronger than the old, implying that a design-failure has been admitted by BMW in practice, if not officially. There is no instruction in the owners manual to check the condition of the timing chain (as there is for cam-belts in other makes) so owners are unwarned of this costly maintenance task. In my opinion, BMW, by not admitting their calamitous design errors, are foisting the massive costs onto owners. Be warned of BMW incompetence and insensitivity if you are thinking of buying one of their cars. I would be pleased to consider taking part in a class action against the company, alleging that their denial of fault is false and that they are liable for all repair costs. This would need proof with expert witnesses but might be affordable if enough people come forward.

There is a recall on all BMW N63 vehicles for excessive oil consumption bulletin B001314) customers care package. My BMW 550i GT is consuming oil and white smoke is coming out the tailpipe. I took my vehicle to BMW and they refuse to perform the necessary repairs included in the ccp, my crankcase valves, also the cooling hoses. All this is included in the class action suit they claim I have a engine leak. The engine is leaking because the valves are worn and need to be changed. I need help getting them to conform to the ccp. The people at BMW say I need to replace my engine at a cost of more than 15 thousand dollars and due to the mileage on my car 106 thousand they are on going to pay 4 thousand dollars. So I’m stuck paying more than the car is worth unbelievable. Don’t buy BMWs because it’s only a matter of time before your valves go bad as they use plastic parts throughout the engine.

I have had my 2011 528I since 09-02-11. Its a great car. BMW advertises that the only thing you have to pay for is tires and gas. I complained about the $1900 NAV system, and that it was not very user friendly, and that my $200 Magellan was a much better device. I had gone to the dealer, asking for a software upgrade, as the device had trouble finding known businesses that I attempted to locate as a test of the system. I was told that it would cost me $400 for an upgrade (which they recommend 4 times a year). I can buy 2 Magellans with free lifetime upgrades for that price. When I complained to BMW USA, they told me they had no control over local dealers, and they could charge any price they wanted. So much for the Tires & Gas.

My fiances 2006 Cooper S with 71,000 miles and with all scheduled maintenance done as scheduled has thrown a connecting rod destroying the engine. I had requested some assistance from Mini USA and was denied only because it is a little bit out of warranty. After listening to an interview on Whiteroof radio, its obvious there are known problems with the engines from a few years ago that have been fixed but that does us absolutely no good. The dealer where we took it cant even give a good reason (oil level was fine) why this would happen. It is still there after 3 weeks waiting to see if they can get us more than the $4,500 that was originally offered to us. There is no way we can or will pay the $9,000 they quoted to put in a rebuilt engine. Needless to say, we are very upset since until recently we had 3 minis in the family. Why would such a large company choose to not at least to partially assist such a loyal customer. All this after we spent over $2,500 just a few months ago to fix suspension problems. She wanted the BMW Countryman next but well see how this plays out and we may never buy any BMW or Mini products ever again as well as telling everyone that will listen.

Now I tried to lease another one, because my 2017 lease ended. They are telling me that I owed them money from 2014 lease. I called to resolve the issue, they were rude and arguing. They keep telling me different stories. I do not recommend it at all. I think i am going bake to Audi. I tried them before, they were a lot better.

Im totally frustrated and mad for the lack of response of BMW on this case. I paid 85,000 dollars for this piece of trash. I cant believe Im totally disappointed. BMW sucks. This is the last time Im going to buy these cars.

I have been having a problem with my car since I bought it brand new. First
I have been having a problem with my car since I bought it brand new. First incident occurred a week after buying my car at Sandton Auto. I had a problem with my brake pads. They were very noisy and couldn’t brake properly and got to a point where they had to be change within less than a month of buying a brand new car. After that, everything else was wrong in that car. Just after 2 months it started to have this noise in front - could be in the engine, I don’t know. I had to go home (Eastern Cape) so I couldn’t bring the car in. When I came back, I took my car to Zambezi Auto as I am closer to that side. They tried to fix it saying that it’s the cables going to or from the fan. All those cables were changed and my car was there for about 2 to 3 days.I went to collect the car and just before I got home the same day, the noise was still there. I called them and told them that what they did didn’t help even one bit. They arranged for me to bring back the car the following day. And mind you, that this is my only car, I just cannot afford to be taking it in where I can’t even get a loan car or any kind of assistance in terms of transport to and from work. My car spends another good 3 days there with them changing some other cables as well and re-gasing the fan or air-con. Then I went to collect my car again and the problem was still there. The noise was so loud that even people at the robot would turn heads. I told the dealer again that the problem was not fixed. This time around the cables inside my car were hanging around on the passenger sit side where I had to tuck them in. This is a new BMW car for God’s sake.I had to travel to Swaziland, so I was away for a month. When I came back, I had a tire bust and my car was towed to Menlyn Auto. Then, I told them as well about the problem. They looked at it as well and tried to fix it, but no luck. They said there was a new part that was needed and ordered it. And again I had to be car-less for more than a week. They did a test drive and told me that unfortunately the noise is still there and there is something else they have to do. Again, they chopped and changed whatever it was, but still the first day of me collecting the car the noise was there.I called them and told them as well, but nothing happened. I decided to bring it to the dealer I bought it from, which is Sandton Auto. I came with my problem and explained to the manager the whole story and the fact that if I bring my car in, I will need a loan car (which I was promised to get but didn’t). Then my car was booked in (this is the fourth time now in a dealer with the same problem). It stayed about 3 days because they had to keep the car in for testing in the morning to see exactly what could be wrong. They changed something as well and also when I went to collect the car, the noise was there before I could even get to the robot near them. I called them again and told them that whatever they did, it didn’t work because now the noise is getting worse. They booked the car again for the following week. I took my car there again to spend 2 days without a car and having to use public transport because no one could help. It stayed there again and they fixed few things, but still no luck. This time they even changed the entire computer system and this car was even giving false alarm warnings. This is what they told me and they didn’t know why because when they check the key, there was nothing. They also picked up that my PDC was loose (this confused me a lot). I went to them and spoke to the manager of the people fixing the cars, let him hear the noise I was talking about and he told me, Oh, that is a piece of cake. I can fix that easy.” This I couldn’t understand as he was the first person who was called to look at the car the first time it went to them. Now, this is the third time in Sandton Auto. The car was booked in for about 3 days now.The car went in, the system was changed, cables we replaced (now this feels like a second hand car) and everything else that could lead to this kind of problem was looked at by different BMW specialists. So more problems came out: 1. The speakers were damaged. I can’t even listen to proper music without the speaker kicking or vibrating or squeaking. 2. The car is vibrating now (and they did pick this up and said they will look at it). 3. I told them that the car sometimes doesn’t start, it just keeps quiet for a while. And this was looked at. Again, I had to leave my car there till the morning so that they can try and start it in the morning for testing (no loan car). 4. The brake pad’s noise is back (and the car was just serviced).5. The noise is worse than ever.I spoke to one of the employees there. She told me that this is a problem that they are experiencing in all BMWs. And she told me that BMW SA is aware of this problem. Most of the 320 I have this problem and there was a call out by BMW SA to change the fan belt to something else (can’t remember what). And she even told me about her own experience as she was at the robot and she heard this car (BMW) parked next to her with the same loud noise. So after that time I was told that they have to order a new fan for my car and change the entire fan system. This one was a masterpiece. I was asked where I bought the car by someone who was helping me there. I told them that I bought the car there by them and according to me the car was brand new. The reason why he asked this was because the car didn’t look like it was new and the PDC was not a BMW PDC. Wow - that’s what I said. I just said, “Wow.”This was a shock and I am asking myself lots of questions: 1. Could this be an old BMW car? 2. Is it possible that someone sold me a car that was a second hand? 3. Is it possible that this BMW car with these kinds of problems could be a demo or something?Really looking at it: is this possible? So right now I am still waiting for a call (which I don’t think I will get as it’s been 2 weeks already) for the fan and an explanation on the PDC. And right now the PDC is faulty for real. It beeps when you are too close to something. I really don’t know what to do in this situation. I don’t feel like I am driving a new car at all. As I travel a lot, I’m afraid that my car will soon be in 100,000 km where I won’t have the privilege of just taking the car in. I don’t have time to leave my car with the dealer anymore as I have proven that this problem cannot be fixed. I am tired of complaining and being stranded in terms of transport and worrying if this beautiful BMW 320 M Sport car cannot just stop in the middle of the road. Can someone out there help me, please?
