I own a 1995 540i BMW (VIN # **). The current mileage is 140,000. On 5/12/10, I complained about a strong gasoline odor on start up and shut down, especially on cool/cold mornings. I reported the same problem again on 7/14/11. Alderson in Lubbock, TX said they could not determine any leak or source of odor. The odor continues. My wife has emphysema and this odor affects her breathing as well as mine. How can I get this problem fixed?

My car battery suddenly died on my new 335i 2011. They wanted $195.00 to diagnose the battery and $435.00 (totaling $630.00 for parts, not including labor). What use is a warranty if you have to pay as much to repair it if it was out of warranty? It took them 2 days to diagnose it, and they wanted to keep my car over the weekend. Its not rocket science to replace a dead battery. Its literally a 5 minute job. Im disappointed at the amount of my time that they have wasted. The battery only charges to 10.6 volts (dead cell, faulty product). I have completely lost faith in BMW. I have had transmission problems since 5,000 miles (2nd gear synchro 6MT) that the dealer has failed to replace under warranty. When I purchased the car, it came with 2 bad rims.Heres my current BMW Warranty experience: Did the custom-ordered car come with bad rims? Blame customer. Is the car transmission failing at 5,000 Miles? Blame customer. Does the car battery have dead cells? Blame customer. There is poor communication with customers and lack of communication.

I was driving my BMW 320d in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. A big speeding truck came from the opposite side and some water on road truck splashed onto the bonnet and front grill of the car and the car stopped immediately. I had to leave the car without trying to start the engine again. The next day, Krishna automobiles, Ludhiana (authorized dealers in Ludhiana of BMW) took away the car on my request.

I purchased a brand new special order 2011 BMW 128i. I love the car and treat it like a baby. It has only 13,000 mile but required new rear tires. Very expensive items and with traction control and safe driving why did it need new tires. I hate the run-flat tires. They are hard as rocks and negatively affect the driving dynamics of the vehicle. The vehicle has no spare or temporary spare. To balance the vehicle, the battery has been placed in the trunk. It would have been wiser to utilize regular tires and provide a temporary spare in the trunk. My battery is now starting to fail. Of course that happened two months after the 4 yr maintenance expired. I just discovered that a new battery costs over $600 because the vehicles computer has to be reprogrammed for the specific battery. Only BMW and a few authorized service centers can perform a battery replacement. So, a $200 battery costs an extra $400 for installation. That is just plain crazy. Hate the tires now, hate the cost of normal maintenance.

I purchased a BMW 320d Highline from KUN Exclusive, Chennai. I took my car for a long drive - about 30 km drive from Chennai. I made an attempt to make a fast U-turn, for which I held the gear as a support, and as soon as I completed the turn, the gear knob came off with my hand. I was really shocked to see that. I bought a 2001 BMW 330CI from a friend in 2007. As much as I enjoyed my driving experience through the years, I have spent thousands of dollars in repairs. And every 2 years, I dreaded the smog certification process. It always failed and I would usually spend a ton of money trying to get it fixed so it would pass and I could renew my registration. This year was the last straw. I spent 3 months going back and forth to my mechanic, testing, re-testing and spending almost $600 on repairs; still not passing. Then I took it to another mechanic, where I spent over $1,000; still not passing. Then I went to a BMW dealer to have them reset the computer due to a BMW Bulletin on that particular year/model; still not passing, and another $175. In between all these visits, I took it out on various driving cycles to reset the monitors, per various YouTube recommendations. Finally, it passed in April 2015. In September 2015, I decided to sell the car, but since the sale was outside the 90-day window of smog certification, I had to have it smog checked again. Guess what? It failed. After fighting with a few of the mechanics I used before, one of them cut me a little break on the price; did some additional repairs to the tune of $411 and finally the car passed the smog check. In total, I spent almost $2,200 in repairs, just for smog certification, not to mention all the other stuff I had replaced over the years. By the way, most of the smog repairs were due to faulty sensors. I called the corporate office of BMW and they wouldnt do anything in the way of reimbursement.

I recently bought a used 2011 BMW X6 with 42K miles. The vehicle was owned by a friend of mine and she was the original owner. The X6 was serviced by BMW dealer and at recommended intervals. After two weeks, the car wont start and had it towed to an independent shop. The diagnosed was the VVT motor and DME unit (Digital Motor Electronic) were bad and total replacement for parts and labor comes to $4,700. The mechanic informed me that he has seen this issue many times and normally happens at 90-100K miles and not 42K miles. The mechanic said I should call BMW of North America to see if they would reimburse the cost. BMW refused stating the car no longer under warranty. IMO, BMW products are crapped and expensive to repair and I will never buy their cars and let people know not to buy their cars since they dont stand behind their products. Their cars are overpriced and a piece of junk.

IM lucky to be alive. What first began as a smell of fuel inside the car escalated to a strong smell of gas. After looking at the undercarriage of the vehicle, I discovered fuel leaking down the drivers side gas tank inches away from the hot exhaust. Tracking where the leak was coming from, I removed the passenger rear seat and discovered that the fuel pump plastic housing developed cracks all around, causing the fuel to escape below the passenger seat down the gas tank. The vehicle operates fine and there are no dash lights indicating that there are any failures of fuel. However, it seems the fuel has broken down the plastic housing of the fuel pump over time, resulting in an enormous loss of fuel when the vehicle is running. I am very glad I discovered this issue, which I believe is an enormous safety issue and consider myself lucky that I didnt catch on fire on my last drive. I will follow-up with BMWs hotline because I am certain there are other drivers that own the E90 series that may be having the same issue and hope NHTSA can put this on their bulletin and open an investigation on the serious issue. As far as BMW Coggin in Fort Pierce, FL, Richard ** politely kicked me out and told me he had an appointment with a doctor and did not even hear my issue out.

E46 BMW M3 - I am having nightmares with my M3, SMG gear box. The fault icon came on. I took the car to a BMW dealership. They kept it for 2 weeks, said the clutch was contaminated and that air was in the hydraulic system. It was fixed at a cost of 3800+. I collected the car, and it broke down the same evening, with the same complaint after driving about 20 miles. A call was placed to the dealership, who informed me that I would have to get it back to their garage on my own, as they do not do recovery. I had just spent 3800+ with this dealership. I got the car there and they said that they found air in the hydraulic system. It was bled, road tested and returned after 3 days. The M3 broke down again (and is presently at the dealership), after driving 3000 miles, with the same problem with the SMG box. The dealership is saying that its the same symptom, but different problem. They are now saying that its the hydraulic pump. I am now facing an additional bill of 2800. My questions are: 1. Whats the life span of an M3 hydraulic pump? 2. Is there an inherent fault with the BMW M3 SMG gear box? 3. Have others experience the same problems with BMW SMG boxes? 4. Is it true, that BMW only guarantee a life span of 12 yrs for the M3?5. How can I make a claim against BMW for selling a defect ultimate machine?

My 2006 330xi has been a great car. My warranty expired after four years. During the four years of covered issues including replacement of tires twice (very loud run flats) and replacement of chrome around the windows that oxidized, I was still a happy owner. I noticed that the rubber strip that meets my windshield and the top of my car was flaking off of the car. I called my dealer, BMW Devon Hill. First, I was insulted on the telephone when the service technician asked me if my car was outdoors. Then, I brought the car in and he looked at the problem and showed it to the manager, and when I returned, I was told that I was out of warranty. He was kind enough to give me an 800 number to call. Why he didnt go any further to help me is the first complaint I have.I spoke to a very nice girl over a period of 10 days who also told me that I was out of warranty and basically told me to have a nice day. I wrote a letter to BMW. Someone called. That was a miracle. He asked me a few questions, called back, and had the same final decision. My complaint is the rubber probably cost about $5, if that and the labor might be 10 to 15 minutes. This automobile, ultimate driving machine cost me $42,000, and once I went out of warranty, it was, Goodbye. Youre out of warranty. I couldnt be more disappointed. I would never buy another BMW for something as small as this problem. I was insulted and basically dismissed by everyone. I think this is terrible public relations, customer service, call it whatever you want.

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2007 BMW 550i in 2009. There was a sporadic problem with the Sirius radio where it wouldnt change stations. I brought it in for service while the car was still under the original warranty to have it fixed. The service techs at Stevens Creek BMW could not reproduce the problem. The problem persists and I have brought it back in two more times but they can never reproduce the problem. I demanded that the radio be replaced and was refused. I called BMW customer relations and talked with Elizabeth ** at length about the issue. They refused to replace the radio because they cant reproduce the problem (which is pretty ridiculous since I reproduce it several times each week). Their logic is completely circular: they cant reproduce the problem it it doesnt exist. Transcript of conversation: So Im a liar? Oh, no, we believe you. So fix it. We cant fix it because we cant reproduce it and besides your CPO warranty wont cover it. But I reported the problem when the car was still under the original warranty. We couldnt reproduce it so we cant replace it under warranty. The Sirius radio is practically unusable. I spent a lot of money on this car. Its supposed to be the ultimate driving machine which I would think includes having a radio that works. This is just incredibly frustrating. The CPO warranty is completely worthless. The car also has crumbling front and rear window seals (on a 4-year-old car!) which the CPO warranty doesnt cover.I will never buy another BMW and I highly recommend that you dont either.

Was recently informed by BMW they are no longer supporting BMW ASSIST which is a feature that INCLUDED (past tense) collision detection as well as stolen vehicle recovery along with other functionality such as being able to send Google directions to the vehicle. My X5 is a 2012 (!) vehicle!!! With all the BS advertising BMW has out there about how great their cars are and how safety is a great concern for their customers, trying to get an answer other than we are sorry for any disappointment this may cause you is totally and complete BS!The manner I found out about their decision to stop supporting these features is not because I purchased one of their vehicles (brand new) but because I noticed the ability to send directions to my vehicle was not working. Pretty pathetic manner to manage customer loyalty. BUYER BEWARE if buying a used BMW... UNDERSTAND CLEARLY your vehicle based on whatever year it may be (2013 BACK...??!) will not have important safety features such as collision detection nor stolen vehicle recovery... period. If I had not purchased an extended warranty to 100 K miles I would be selling this thing ASAP. Will be a cold day in hell before I purchase another vehicle from this company.

My speedometer in my brand new car is off by 10% and when I brought it in to BMW Spokane for correction, was told BMW has a disclaimer for accuracy of their speedometers. WTF? Having several other electronic issues like the radio randomly shutting itself off, seat cooler and armrest heaters turning themselves on and the XM radio rerunning the program from about 5 minutes back if for some reason, I briefly lose connection like driving through downtown or something. My Toyota gave none of these problems, nor does my sons Subaru. Also they dont provide a courtesy vehicle in Spokane citing the global supply chain. I could go on about the service dept in Spokane which has been another BMW disappointment. Glad Toyota isnt impacted in that way. Dropping a 130 grand on a car I thought I would have for years is embarrassing as I dont have that new car joy. I dislike my car and will never buy another BMW.

I have a 2007 BMW 328xi that I have been having gear, transmission and electrical, air conditioning issues. The car shuts off, stalls and shuts off, air conditioner doesnt work, alert lights on dashboard light up and now gears arent shifting and car cannot move into drive, reverse, neutral and park. So now I have no car. BMW has just given me the run around not addressing the problems finding other issues just to cover and hide their blatant disregard of the 3 series issues. I saw that there are many complaints and the there is a place to officially file a complaint to NHTA 888-327-4236. Please file a complaint if you’re experiencing any issues. BMW cant continue to ignore the issues and try to hide all complaints like they dont exist! And someone gets killed. Please FB or Twitter to get the word out!

I have 316I model 2010. Although PM services are being performed at BMW service center as per BMW manual, but while driving, Ive discovered that air condition is not working. Cairo BMW service center informed me that the coolant has to be replaced. Im wondering that an expensive car manufactured by reputable company, an important part gets faulty within 3 years after 42,000 km which is not happening in cheap cars. The problem is not only the cost of replacement but what hurts me is driving long way in sandy and hot weather with no AC and the cost of renting a car while my BMW is being fixed. This makes me hesitant to depend on my BMW car again, although it is not the case with BMW brand name. Please advise what to do. Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

In 2014 I decided I wanted to drive the ultimate driving machine. What a mistake. I asked my cousin who works at a dealership to locate something for me. In June 2014 I purchased my 2011 BMW 328i xdrive SULEV with 29k. I purchased extended warranty and Gap insurance for slightly over $30,000. I realized I overpaid but I was okay with it because I really wanted this vehicle. A few months into it my car began shaking violently and had a very rough idle. I had to replace spark plugs and coils. A few months after that it started having electrical problems. The car would turn off the heat, ac, radio, and lights. I had to replace an electrical module at 45k. I contacted BMW and they offered to pay 95%. I was satisfied until another few months went by and my car kept stalling, launching itself into traffic, shutting off and turning back on while I was on the highway, and wouldnt keep momentum. Turns out the fuel line broke off in my tank and I needed to replace the fuel tank at 50k. I called BMW again and they offered to replace it with only $250 out of my pocket... At this point I decided this car is a nightmare and I wanted out. Too upside down to replace it I decided Ive replaced enough and it should be good to go for a few years. NOW its idling rough again, hesitating to move and shaking violently once again. BMW offered me a $1,000 loyalty to trade out but dealerships are only offering $15,000 and I owe $26,000. For the age and mileage of this vehicle I should not have had it in the shop more than 5 times for serious maintenance. This car is a nightmare!!!! I would NEVER recommend BMW to friends or family members unless they dont mind having it in the shop more than on the road. Between electrical issues, faulty fuel pump/fuel line, coils, and an obnoxious ticking sound I have more of a headache than an ultimate driving machine. Its more like the ultimate pain in the butt. The cigarette lighter has never worked so I cannot plug in a GPS. When I have my ipod or Pandora playing the radio will randomly change the song or shut my music off and default to the radio. It also gets so hot that the radio stops working and says HIGH TEMP. It overheats and wont play music and turns off the AC or the heat randomly. For the price of these vehicles new and pre-owned they should not have THIS many issues. I have less than 65k on it and it constantly fails me. BMW is by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. If youre considering a luxury brand try Lexus or Infiniti. BMWs are a waste of money!!

A tech has been promised to come out to the dealership to try and find out why the MPG are so bad on a 2010. They e-mail me from headquarters between such and such day; they either dont call and let me know they are not coming, or I go and get a loaner and they come for ten minutes and then leave. This is actually the third time I have tried to have the car looked at. I cant just drop everything the night before and go and get the loaner and leave my car. Some of us do have other things to do in our lives. Communication between the dealer and the customer care of BMW is awful. You would think they would let you know the exact day and then have a loaner for you, not so. The dealer is also frustrated. Their follow-up service is the worst ever of any car I have owned, and that has been quite a few over the years.I paid over 4000 dollars extra for the car to get good gas mileage and have asked every time when I bring it for service to check it, and nothing changes.

Im a 19-year-old full time college student and full job worker. Im broke and I dont have money for anything besides my studies. Im on an extremely tight budget. Anyway one day Some guy contacted me from Craigslist since I posted my Honda for sale since I have been wanting to get rid of it and get something more decent since I have a professional job. He asked if I wanted to trade my 01 Honda Civic for his 1999 BMW 5 series. The pictures of the car were so beautiful and I said immediately, Yes! Can I see it? Where can we meet? And we met up 20 minutes later. I was alone (I know Im an idiot). He was w/ his baby and his girlfriend and he said he already had the same BMW sitting at home and he wanted a Honda for his GF because of the good gas mileage. I then test drove the Beamer and it didnt feel quite right, but I told myself, Oh well, Ill take it to a mechanic and Im sure its something minor. The guy who traded me didnt ask for cash on top which was sort of sketchy. All he said that was wrong was that it needed an oil change and power steering fluid, hence the check engine light on the dash. I come to find out that the BMW couldnt even start the second day I had it and it began to make this LOUD air noise when I would hit the gas. OMG, I was having an anxiety attack and immediately took it to a fair priced mechanic who works on marine and automotive here in Salem, Oregon. The Mechanic felt so bad for me I could see the sympathy in his eye. I basically told him the story and he couldnt stop staying how BMWs are pieces of ** and I should have never ever traded my perfect beat up Honda for it. I also came to find out that it would cost over 7 grand to repair the vehicle back to good condition since it had OVER 10 CODES or mechanical work needed to be done to it. Now my car still wont start because the battery died and I live alone and have no one to help me. Im broke as hell and I dont have money for ANYTHING not even to register it under my name so I get the title in hand to get rid of it.

I own a BMW X3 in the Philippines that is 5 years old, has been owned by me from new, always serviced by BMW and has 30k km on the clock. Recently the warning lights went on and it made a loud engine noise. BMW checked it over and told me that the transfer case needed replacement and that it would cost 200,000 pesos (USD 4,500). I checked on the internet about the transfer case and discovered that this was a common fault, that actually related to a plastic gear in the actuator. It seemed that the plastic gear problem was so common that a replacement was made and sold on Amazon.com. I bought the plastic gear for USD 50 and replaced the obviously worn gear in the actuator, perfect solution, no further problem. I tried to contact BMW in Munich because it seemed that BMW Philippines were being less than customer oriented. I assumed that BMW would be upset at such a bizarre situation. I was continuously referred back to Singapore, the regional headquarters, who constantly referred me back to Autozentrum, the Philippine agent. I finally got a letter from BMW in Singapore who told me it was their policy to only replace units, not parts in units. I tried to explain that this seemed to be disingenuous as the actuator gear was clearly a poor design and that charging USD 4,500 when a USD 50 part was obviously the solution, was penalizing a good customer and seemed to be short sighted. They sent me a curt note saying their policy was clear. My only advice is to buy a Hyundai, Honda, Subaru, Jeep, anything, but never a BMW.

This is another long history with the great BMW dealership! So one day Im enjoying my BMX X5, you all know what Im talking about. Get a new car, and its a good feeling! UNTIL!!!! You start to Experience Issues. I just got a new BMW and dont know mechanics so you have to take it to a dealership. Now I take it to Chapman BMW, And remember I have a 2003 X5 its the 4.4. They came out with a Estimate Bill for $7800. I was like what!!! So I work on cars for a living and I know they full of you know what, when they say that number. Cause I fixed most of their list for under $1300. They get you with their labor 1st, then the parts! In capital letters SHAME on you BMW!! So then after all the parts and time to fix her. 4 months later I start to Smell of burning coming into my vents also a noise coming from the rear and sound like my rear differential. So I take it to BMW and they tell me I have no leaks nothing burning, everything is great. Well I take the car back thinking that BMW knows what theyre talking about, WRONG!!! I smell it again so I call my service advisor to tell him the same thing. I smelled the same smell and I hear the same noise so I take it back. So then two weeks later they get back to me saying that my transmission is making that noise and that smell is my valve covers leaking onto my headers which I had just done my valve covers. Tell them really? But before this you said I was good with no leaks? I tell them off a little cause they have no clue what theyre doing! Well they do cause their Ripping off all of us these insane prices! Ill make it short now! I pay $798 to fix the Smell they said, and the Transmission is going out! They said! Get the car back two months later and what do you know I smell the smell again! I paid them to do a job to take care of the smell and see what that noise was. Well smell everybody is called the oil separator, I changed it for $30 and fixed it myself! The noise is my rear diff, like I had told them before but they said trans! They need to make things right for what we pay!

BMW is the Toyota of Germany. Reading all the reviews, the non-response of the company, and the mechanic/engine problems of the car, I cant help but remember what this company is selling - a prestige status symbol. Anyone whos thinking of buying a BMW needs to take a trip to Berlin, Germany first. In the debt-ridden capital, you will see that BMWs are the bread and butter cars of Germany. BMWs line up the streets next to homeless shelters, graffiti parks, and taxi stands. Delinquent juvenile teenagers drive a BMW. Older middle class ordinary citizens drive a BMW. People who have no teeth have a BMW. BMWs are just about the most commonplace car in Germany, like a Toyota Camry here. Somehow, the brilliant marketing campaign and the high price tag for initial purchase and maintenance have convinced North Americans that BMWs are a luxury ultimate driving machine. Autobahn sounds so cool in English. In German, auto means car, bahn means way (as in U Bahn, sub-way, S Bahn, another type of subway, and autobahn, car-way or highway). Before you think that the company will value your $400,000 spending over 10 years, think again. They dont really care as they are already laughing all the way to the bank. In fact, the more expensive the maintenance, the more prestigious the brand. The brand is for people who have money to burn. The more mechanic problems, breakdowns, and barriers the company creates, the more it sets the people apart in who can maintain this prestige factor. Before you buy a BMW, go to Germany and spend a week in the major cities and walk around the poor areas. And once you see how commonplace BMWs are, the more youll think twice about doing what you are doing.

I have had my 2011 528I since 09-02-11. Its a great car. BMW advertises that the only thing you have to pay for is tires and gas. I complained about the $1900 NAV system, and that it was not very user friendly, and that my $200 Magellan was a much better device. I had gone to the dealer, asking for a software upgrade, as the device had trouble finding known businesses that I attempted to locate as a test of the system. I was told that it would cost me $400 for an upgrade (which they recommend 4 times a year). I can buy 2 Magellans with free lifetime upgrades for that price. When I complained to BMW USA, they told me they had no control over local dealers, and they could charge any price they wanted. So much for the Tires & Gas.

I bought a 2009 BMW X5 4.8i V8 from my son-in-law who bought it new. The car had 37,000 miles on it when I bought it and now has 87,000 miles. Half of the mileage has been on 1000 mile trips. The car has been well maintained with all recommended services throughout the period. My wife and I are over 70 and do not drive the car aggressively. Here is my repair experience with this car. All but the first occurred after the 50,000 mile warranty expired: Air conditioner hose connection leaked refrigerant -- replaced hose. Headlight washer nozzle dropped off -- replaced nozzle. Plastic water overflow tank seam separated -- replaced tank. Vacuum pump leaked -- replaced vacuum pump. Oil leaked through several front engine seals and valve covers -- replaced seals. Burnt oil of 1 quart per thousand miles, through valve seals -- replaced valve seals. Vacuum leak through fuel pump activating engine/emission light -- replaced fuel pump. Total cost for these repairs was around $15,000 over 3 years. All of the repairs were done at BMW dealerships. (This, of course, was over and above normal maintenance like oil changes, adding oil, alignments, tires, brake pads, inspections, etc.) Fortunately, I had third party extended warranty coverage. The dealership mechanics told me these problems are common with BMW V8 engines. There are several reports on the web of these same problems. While BMW touts their engineering, they obviously dont engineer seals that lasts 100,000 miles. If you are considering a used BMW V8, count on $3,000 to $5,000 in repairs a year plus typical maintenance. By the way, I generally keep a car for 200,000 miles or more. The BMW is the priciest car I have owned. It also has had more repairs up to now than any of my other cars throughout their 200,000 mile life history. The car is a nice car to drive. However, given my experience, I cannot recommend a BMW. The problems I experienced had nothing to do with the the sophistication of the design. They were all basic part failures!

I have a BMW X5 (2012) which I purchased new, it had an AC problem however that wont be fixed by BMW. Here is my story on the X5. After warranty is done at 50K miles this is where all the troubles start. Thermostat failure a 2500$ repair, Burnt Oil smell, fluid leak repair $2500 in 2016 by a BMW Repair service. Took it to the dealer to see if it would resolve and he replaced the same Oil Gasket leak at East Bay BMW in Pleasanton, CA for roughly $2500 in Aug 2017. Now I take it back to the dealer and ask him about the 2 year warranty and he says it is a different issue and I need to spend another $1500 to get this fixed. There is no end to the excuses for bad repairs but I wanted to call out that my experience with BMW and their repair technicians is so poor that they refuse to accept responsibility or address the issue.

The X1 is like a slightly elevated station wagon. I am small so I like its size. I bought this car used (could never afford a new one) and it appeared to be in good shape... 2015 - only 60K. It had been well kept. It also had all the bells and whistles (paid for by the first owner): heated seats, heated steering wheel, xLine, GPS, backup camera... Pretty loaded AND new tires. I love it. Zippy enough... Good MPG 34 hwy 24 in town. I have owned a number of BMWs and this is a true BMW. Others I have owned have worn the title, BMW with more flash and style. However, this car is fine for me.

2006 BMW 5501 - I purchased my car new from Santa Barbara, CA dealer in December 2006. I paid over $60,000. By the end of 2010, I noticed the paint on hood was fading and a white cloud began to appear. I took it to the dealer, who did not have any suggestions and thought it might be from car washes. But there was nothing they could do, it was not covered by the warranty. It got worse and spread to the roof of the car (but the sides and back look like brand new). I had another shop look at it. He said waxing would do me no good, that the car would have to be repainted and that the car was likely damaged when it was brought in on the boat. They probably repaired it and in doing so, had to repaint or touch up the paint, altering the original paint job and the clear coat finish. I have brought the paint condition to the dealer both in person and in writing, but I get the same answer - not warranted. In addition, the rubber around both my front and rear windshields has totally disintegrated. There is nothing left. I brought this to the attention of the dealer. I was told my car was out of warranty. Other BMW owners have told me they have experienced the same. This seems to be a common problem. You would think BMW could afford to use a higher quality rubber on their vehicles. I have had several issues with this car. A bad exhaust smoking problem, while my car was under warranty, which took months of complaint writing to the dealer as well as BMW North America to finally have them diagnose the problem and make the repair. I love driving the car and the BMW look, but I am so disappointed with the quality and the service of BMW. For the amount of money they charge and the advertisements regarding ultimate driving machine, you would think they would do better in the customer relationship department and stand behind their product.

I have a 2008 BMW 328i which I purchased new and I purchased an extended warranty as well. I have multiple vehicles so I dont drive my vehicle often. The vehicle currently has around 14,000 miles on it. I took the vehicle in yesterday because it appeared there was a problem with the battery. My husband received a phone call today from BMW in Elk Grove, advising that the battery needs to be replaced and is not covered under the warranty because I dont drive it enough (driver error). The price of a new battery is $453 (he claims this is with a 15% discount) and the battery must be purchased from a BMW dealership because it could create a problem for the computer if purchased from an auto parts store. The BMW representative stated that it would have been covered had it been a defective battery, but the computer states that I dont drive it enough. He stated that I will need to keep it on a trickle charger when not in use. I have kept up on all of my maintenances and services, which were completed at BMW and not once did a BMW representative advise me that I could be running into a problem with the battery because of my low mileage. At this point I am just livid that I have babied my vehicle. I purchased an extended warranty and I have to come out of pocket $453. At this point I have no choice but to pay the $453; however, I feel that this should have been covered by the warranty and not been viewed as operator error.

After receiving a recall letter from BMW for the brake vacuum pump (recall campaign no. 10v-446), I took the car to Crevier BMW but was told they didnt have the part. I never heard back from Crevier BMW, and I forgot about it until the brakes completely failed without warning. I had the car towed to the nearest dealer in Irvine. They replaced the vacuum supply line but not the vacuum pump. They recommended that I replace the leaking vacuum pump at my cost of over $900. The description of the problem included in the recall letter from BMW specifically indicates that the leak from the vacuum pump into the vacuum hose is the root of the problem. I spoke to Jody ** at BMW and she said that the recall is a federal mandate and this mandate only requires them to replace the line and not the pump.I have owned BMW cars for more than 12 years, you would think they would stand behind their product and keep a loyal customer happy. They truly do not care about the customer. They will only take care of the problem if the car is leased and/or under warranty, and even then, theyll put off the work until the car is out of warranty.I have had a new 750Li since 2006. From the beginning, the engine oil light would come on and I would have to take the car in to be topped off. I kept asking why I had to do this so often and they assured me that it was normal for the 750. I had a new 745 before this car and I never had this problem. I didnt worry about it since there was no sign of a leak on my garage floor. Now that the car is out of warranty, they tell me that there is a leak.

Do not buy any BMW products at all. It is not a suggestion but it is a warning as you will regret if anything will go wrong. They are only profit oriented company and do not show any sympathy or care about their customers or general public. My brand new X7 was on fire last month without any indication on the dashboard. Me and my entire family (including 2 kids and 2 senior citizens) were in the car when the car started throwing smokes without any indication. I acted on time and stopped the car and we all left the car. While taking out my 4 years daughter from the car seat the car literally went on fire from the engine. It was freezing cold day with a single degree temperature and snowing and we all were standing outside until the fire dept arrived. We we all lucky that we survived without any physical injury but mental trauma was never less after that incident.I called BMW NA and filed a complaint to start an investigation as I also saw an article sent over by my friend from CNN where BMW is being sued in South Korea for the same engine fire issue. They acted so negligently that on the scheduled inspection day the public relation officer called me and told me that they didnt get an access of a car from insurance company as it was not communicated with them...Seriously? This shows how lightly they took the entire incident. In the end they wanted to offer me 2 month of lease payment and wanted me to buy or lease new BMW and sign a contingency not to disclose this information to NHSTA or any other places including social media. I declined their charity and chose to go out in public to educate them not to go for BMW brand. It is a known issue of BMW that their cars go on fire lot more frequently than any other manufacturers.DO NOT BUY BMW...THEY ARE VERY PATHETIC IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL AS PUBLIC SAFETY. SPREAD THESE WORDS OUT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AS I CANT SUE THEM AS NY STATE LAW DOES NOT HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE NO PERSON WAS INJURED PHYSICALLY. IF YOU NEED ANY OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT HOW BMW IS BEING SUED THEN GOOGLE HOW THEYRE BEING SUED IN SOUTH KOREA AND IT WILL SHOW UP...

In a period of last 12 months, my 2010 BMW X5 has had the following failures, which leads me to believe either that BMW has no quality in their products or this SUV is just a lemon. 1. Check Engine Light - Radiator replaced in Jan 2014. 2. Car slows down in the middle of the road and stops - Fuel pump bushings replaced in Aug 2014. 3. AC stops working - AC leak Schraeder valve- Aug 14 4. Thrust rod replaced - Aug 14 5. Check engine light on - Oil leak from Oil Filter Housing - Nov 146. High pitched noise from the hood - Crank Case Vent system - Dec 14Called BMW for the last problem today and they just washed their hands off. Leads me to believe that they dont stand behind their product. Buyers beware. Do your research before you buy. There is certainly no driving experience here. It is the fear of your car stalling at any time.

I had foolishly bought my first BMW product only 6 months ago. It is a 04 x5 4.6is. I bought it from a private seller who obviously took very good care of it since it seemed to be in great shape. Here I thought I was getting a super deal on a very well built, high costing vehicle. Wow, was I mistaken. A month after getting it, I had to replace and electrical module behind the glove box at the tune of 800.00 then, a month later, I am making a left turn and the transmission farts out and throws itself into fail safe mode. After a couple days and a 250.00 diagnostic charge at the local dealership, I had my worries confirmed. It needed: 1.New transmission at the tune of $10,000.00, it only has 148,000 km on its lifetime fluid that never needs changing! My Honda CRV has 310,000 km on it and going strong. 2. New tail light since they were melting to the point of failure, 650.00.3. New engine fan since it was only running on high mode only and sounded like a Boeing 747 at take off., 1200.00!Like I needed to be insulted, the guy at the dealership suggests that maybe the owner before worked the tranni too hard by pulling things, since it has a towing package. Wow. After many hours of surfing the web, I learned that these are all problematic issues due to lack of quality and very poor design, which BMW will not take any responsibility for.I finally had the transmission repaired for 3000.00. Have not fixed the tail light issue and have no intentions of changing the fan. I am in the process of selling it or trading it off before the rear air suspension goes bad. Never again, should have bought a Honda.

Share my unfortunate experience with BMW quality! I bought a BMW X1 about 4 years 9 months ago. Troubles started just after bought it. This and that warning lights came up often. After about one year, the battery drains all the time, have to replace the whole electric and battery system. A few weeks ago, just about 9 months out of the warranty, I drove it to Utah for a vacation. When I drove back home, it broke down in a city with transmission malfunction warning on the way. I have to tow it to the city BMW service for repair. After spent more than $1200, I still cannot drive it back home. It needs to replace the transmission, costs more than $11000. Left me with no other options, I have to sell it to the BMW dealer cheap and rent a car back home! This car only has 47000 miles, the transmission is gone!

I purchased an 08 M6 from the dealer in May of 13. It had 63,000 mi. In the fall 0f 14, I had the clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder replaced for a few thousand. In Dec. of 14, the check engine light came on. I parked it and had it towed to the dealer in Jan. They said it didnt have the correct battery so they replaced it, synced it to the computer for several hundred. Then they said it needed a new vanos pump as the chain was broken and metal shards were found in the bottom of the oil pan. Solenoids in the VANOS system had broken, causing the chain to break. The vanos pump was replaced and now Im told they couldnt get all the metal shards out and I need a new engine for $25,000.00. This is the top-of-the-line flagship vehicle for BMW. It has 72,000 mi. on the engine and has experienced catastrophic failure. I owe several thousand for the work thats been done and it still needs a new engine. Id appreciate suggestions, advice.

I looked up all of these reviews to decide what to do about my 2011 BMW Coupe. I previously owned a 2007 328xi sedan. When the 6 years of warranty ran out, I had expenses of over $1000 frequently. I traded it in on a 2011 Coupe, with warranty. I almost have 50,000 miles on this car and I will definitely spend $2000.00 to get the next warranty. Then I will sell the car or trade it in. I love my BMWs. They are fun to drive and MY dealers have been great. The first was DeSimone BMW in Mt. Laurel, NJ, the current one is in Atlantic City, NJ. I always get a loaner car. The staff is polite and they answer my every need. As long as the car is under warranty, it is all good. It is so sad for me to read the horror stories on this site. I thought I was getting ripped off buying my 2011, it seems not. I wish the best for all of you. These are expensive cars, and for me they are worth it for the service and atmosphere, AND driving.

BMW Nightmare! 7 months ago my 2008 X5 died while I was driving the vehicle. Fortunately, there were very few cars on the road at the time. I jumped the car and took it straight to United BMW in Duluth, Georgia. They informed me that everything checkout fine and I simply needed a new battery. Fast forward 7 months and the vehicle died again while I was driving at a speed of 45 mph. I nearly got rear-ended. My family and I made it home after getting the car jumped, only to have it die in my driveway. Oh wait! It gets better. The vehicle was towed to United BMW in Duluth this morning. I explained the history to the representative named Scott **. Scotts response to me is as follows: 1. You must drive the vehicle at least 20 miles a day. 2. You must lock the vehicle when youre not driving so the system completely shuts down. 3. We recommend you purchase supplemental power for the vehicle to ensure the batter is adequately charged.4. If your fuel is low you may also experience problems. My response to Mr. Scott **: No one in their right mind would purchase a BMW based on what you described! His response, My job is to give you the information. I apologize if your sales representative failed to do so. Needless to say, Im afraid to let my wife or kids operate this vehicle. We bought a used 2007 550I from Momentum Southwest Houston BMW. It were all lies from the start. The salesman tells us the car has to have special tires, which were on the car and they installed 2 of them. On the test drive, the salesman would not show us how to use the paddle shifters SMG 6 speed. After 6 weeks of begging for a manual and spare key, we finally got a manual and key which we had to pay for. The paddle shifters do not work, as well as the driver seat thigh support motor. One cold 40 degree morning, the check engine light comes on. When my wife got home, I put my scan tool on it. The thermostat is bad stuck open and we took it to dealer as we bought warranty. The warranty company says it does not cover all pre-existing conditions. I talked to the GM at the dealer and they offered to replace the seat motor and repair the paddle shifters for free. While it was there, they call and tell us that all front and rear control arms are bad and needed to be replaced. With an alignment of roughly $2100, I told them Ill take care of the thermostat and suspension. I install lift kits in trucks for a living, and the parts for MOOG are cheaper, but the dealer wants $1800 for parts. MOOG parts at retail are $249.00, I can do the math. We can take it back there for alignment if they dont try to jerk us around for something else. I wont probably buy another one. What a **. We drive off the lot, it depreciates and needs $5000.00 worth of repairs before we get it home.

Turning radius is awesome too! Need acceleration? No problem. Ever. Fully loaded this car does almost everything! Cameras all around can show if you are evenly in a parking space! Write addresses on the ceramic dial for navigation. Or talk to the car to get directions or to make a call on the phone. On cruise control, it will slow itself if a car gets too close! One touch and the convertible top opens or closes by itself. Check the car, unlock it, turn on the lights, or even sound the horn from my phone! Or turn on the ventilation in the car from my phone if it is too hot out so the car will be cooler when I get in! And if I need any kind of help - at all - I can contact my “always there” BMW assist! They will answer questions, send directions, give suggestions, talk to me, read to me, anything! Seems like there is nothing that this car isn’t able to do! Cannot imagine a better-looking or driving vehicle!!!

I bought an X5 two years ago for 35k. The NOx sensors apparently are a huge issue. My car has been at a BMW dealer for 3 weeks! Still not fixed! $2000 later I don’t have my car! Called corporate, they don’t give a ** whether my car runs or not. Will not help me. These cars are lemons. Do NOT buy BMW!

I had the X7 for 2 years (2019) and 42,000 miles. Going through a school zone my steering AND brakes went COMPLETELY out as kids were crossing. Luckily there was a bend in the road and I was going uphill. I went off the road (not by my doing). A non-event. BMW acknowledged there was a software issue. I sold the SUV immediately! DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE...I am a 61 year old man. You have been warned. On 08th of September I collected brand new BMW X1 (my dream car), sDrive16d SE N47 2.0, GU64EVC from your dealership. The car is defective and the faults are: 1. Very stiff reverse gear (due to this now I am suffering from a tennis elbow on my left hand). 2. The In car sat nav system which cost me 890.00 (low volume mainly when driving in motorways & giving wrong directions). My TomTom sat nav, which I bought for 200.00 is about 5 years old and have much more features and options than the pricy in car sat nav (if I have known this I would not buy it). 3. The driver seat is too low & most uncomfortable car I have ever driven in my whole life. Every time I take a long drive I end up having severe back pains. (I am at a point that I can’t risk my health). I have to say, I am very disappointed & have lost my trust in BMW due to the entire experience. I have been told by service department that they cant find any fault with the car and they are not going to help me. Few more issues I would like to make you aware of the car, these glitches don’t occur continuously however do happen and truly frustrating: The radio/music stop functioning unexpectedly, Unable to use the Bluetooth, Sat nav disappear from the screen, Tire pressure warning light keep on appearing. It seem as I have to check the tire pressure every two weeks. How inconvenient is this.

My 2011 BMW 335d has had the Service Engine Light on for most of its life now. Every single time I took it in while it was under warranty they could never find anything wrong. I even had to bring it back to Kuni BMW four times because the DEF warning like kept coming on. They would say, “Oh, we just filled the DEF, it is fine.” Lo and behold, once my warranty had expired, they found the problem. Now, the latest issue, I have brought it in regularly for its oil changes, etc. The service engine light keeps coming on. Then the engine malfunction light. Took this beauty in today and guess what? Now it has a Carbon Build Up problem. After doing some research online today, it seems many 335d are having terrible carbon build up problems. Well guess what, no warranty and now an additional $2,800 to repair and 10 days in the shop. Seriously??? It seems to me, for the amount of money spent on BMW their cars would be more maintenance free, however, I feel this is the game of BMW. They know these engines have widespread problems and yet they do not protect the consumer. I am so sorry I bought this beautiful car now!!! Poor decision not to believe the terrible reviews. My car is just slightly out of warranty. You think they would extend my warranty in a good faith effort to keep a valued client, however, they could care less. Very disappointed!!! Do your due diligence before investing in a BMW. As my friend put it to me, he has diesel vehicles with over 100,000 miles on it without a carbon build up issue. I feel like I am going to file a lawsuit against BMW at this point. There must be a Lemon Law.

My complaint is in regards to how BMW handled a known issue with their Footwell Module 3 (ie FRM component). I recently purchased a used 2010 335i. While out Christmas shopping the car would not start. We had AAA tow it to one of their repair facilities. Their diagnosis determined the starter had died. After installation of the new starter, the repair shop was unable to get the windows back up. Upon further diagnosis they suspected an issue with the FRM module (which controls things like blinkers, wipers, automatic windows, etc). We then had the car towed to a local BMW dealership who confirmed the FRM was bad. Apparently, simply reconnecting the car battery which AAA had disconnected to do the starter replacement caused something in the FRM to get fried. My issue with this situation is that both AAA and the BMW dealer were aware of an issue with the FRM module in this model year BMW. BMW itself was also aware of the issue and offered a 10yr 150k mile limited warranty on a replacement. While my car is well below the mileage limit, it was just past the year limit and so BMW would not do anything to help with the cost of a new FRM. With parts and labor the new part was $1200.With other car brands Ive had, when there is a KNOWN issue with a part, the car company issues a recall and fixes the issue at no cost to the owner. This is what BMW should have done with this FRM issue. It was a known issue to the company (caused by something other than normal wear and tear like with my starter) and should have been replaced for me -- if not for free, at least with some kind of discount.

We leased a brand new 2011 750Li. One month later, the car lost its power, and the engine light went on. We took it to the dealership, where it stayed for 10 days! Finally, they found the problem, fixed it, and we picked up the car. We drove the car out of the Vista Service at 11AM. At 6PM the same day, the car stalled in middle of the road. We called Vista to tow it, and the car is there for already 20 days. Nobody knows how long it will be stay there. They could not even find the problem. They kept telling us stories. After probably spending thousands of dollars out of their pockets, since it is under warranty (the car is 1 month old!), they told us that a rat got under the hood, and chewed all the wires. Now, they have blamed us for it, after a month in their body shop. Now we had to make a claim with our insurance, and pay the deductible fees for it. Meanwhile, they gave us an X5 as a loaner. A couple of days ago, we went to the supermarket, walked out, and found that the rear windshield was broken. Now, the dealership does not want to exchange the loaner, and I have to drive it with the broken window, with a 1 year old child in it, and a stroller full of glass. The insurance company is laming the dealership, and we have to pay another $500 for the window, and I even cannot exchange the cars after I paid. The worst dealership in the world. The salesperson was the best-James **, no hard feelings, you are the best! What cannot say about James ** in service department. The brand new car has been in service for more than 30 days.

Thanks BMW for turning my lifelong dream of owning a BMW into a NIGHTMARE e
Thanks BMW for turning my lifelong dream of owning a BMW into a NIGHTMARE experience. Heres why... Since the time I saw a BMW while I was growing up as a teenager I always wanted to own a BMW. I have patiently waited to own a 5 series when the time comes for me to afford one. And that time came over the Labor Day weekend. It was time for me to replace the 1998 Nissan that I was driving for 9 years to be finally replaced with my dream car, the BMW. I went to Patrick BMW dealership, with my wife and kids, in Schaumburg IL to purchase a certified pre-owned BMW that I had looked online. We test drove the car, loved it and finally sat down to close the deal. The whole process took us come around over 4 hours. During the contract finalization process (I had signed majority of the paperwork) the salesman came and told me that they could not give me the car as the car I just chose wont start and mentioned that I could not take the car today. They werent sure why it wont start.Well that was the big set back to my expectation of a BMW... A BMW machine with 22K miles on it (almost new) wont start. I never face this issue with any cheap cars and this is what I was hearing of a BMW a car with an original price tag of $60,000. I was really really disappointed and had to leave home. They told me that the dealership will investigate and call me what the issue is and provide an ETA on the fix date. They called the next day and told me that the fuel pump went bad and need to be replaced. Was not happy to hear that and started doubting whether BMW is still the BMW people say we love for the lifetime. My entire family was disappointed. I had driven a 1998 Nissan with 142K miles on it and it had never given me an issue and the BMW blew in 22K miles. Anyways I thought it is a machine and Ill give it a chance. The dealership called me 3 days later and mentioned the car is fixed and ready to be picked up. I was super excited and took off work to pick the dream machine. I had called my family to wait outside my house and see me drive my dream car home. I was just 30 yards away from my garage that the BMW stalled (dead). Really I could not believe and I see my family cheering at me (unaware) that the car had stalled and thought I stood there to let them see the car... EMBARRASSING AND FRUSTRATING... The car wont start and I get a big message in the console transmission failed. Really really. This is BMW.I called the dealership and the damn guy asked me to bring the car back to the dealership. Somehow... the car started and I brought it back. The salesman told me that it is a sleeper mode issue. WTF is that... He told me that you have to reverse the car and then everything will be fine. I could not believe still that this is ** BMW man. Somehow the car started working fine... and brought it back. Happy but frustrated whether I have got a LEMON...I take it to work, drove 15 miles... showed it to my friends and colleagues. I took few for a drive and what happens the car stalls (dead) again. EMBARRASSING THAT I WANT TO DIG MYSELF IN THE GROUND. I could not believe it and what a bad press for a BMW 2011 535i. I called the dealership and they asked me to get it towed. Towed not even a car that I had in my hands for more than an hour... seriously. I wanted to scream and punch someone.. I had to wait for the tow for 4 hours and finally the car was towed..You SEE WHAT YOU GUYS DID TO ME ... You just blew my confidence in luxury cars out of the window. I started hating it... rather than telling my family and friends that I had bought an awesome machine... I was ** about the car... seriously...I went to the dealership to ask for my money back and they mentioned theyll assure theyll fix the car. They told me this time it is a the fuel sensor... WTF. Really.. this is a damn certified car which I think is not certified from a Ford dealership (who know nothing about BMW). The certification is from damn BMW. I started to question about the whole certification process and the quality of BMWs . I so very much wanted to never ever own a BMW again and committed to make sure that ensure none of my friends and family or whoever I come in contact with... let them know to never ever own a BMW.My wife, she know I always wanted to own one... convinced me to give this car a chance... someone I agreed. Now the car is with the Patrick BMW dealership in Schaumburg IL. I called yesterday to ask the status and NOW the guy is telling me it is the POWER MODULE. Seriously ... these guys just told me it is the fuel sensor. WHO SHOULD I BELIEVE.... IM BEING CHEATED... having sleepless nights... BMW .. WHY ARE YOU GUYS DOING THIS TO ME?Before I start hitting Facebook, Twitter, and other forums to share my experience ... you guys better call me tell me what the hell is going on and you better do something about it. I work for Deloitte Consulting LLP, the biggest consulting firm, in the world. Im a consultant and my job is to keep my clients happy. We promote value, confidence and good relationships over money. Many of my colleagues own a BMW and that was giving me confidence... but if BMW does not work with me here... Im telling you Im going to go all over the place. Lets see what experience I get about customer service from BMW and that would tell me everything about BMW and Ill have full ammunition to do either a good or bad press... A frustrated BMW first time buyer...

Every time took the car to them for service had to bring it back for something else. My car been to them over 30 times. Last time they kept for 7 months to fix the passing of state emission test. My car had less than 50.000 miles all that time. The body was damaged and rust spots all over it from their underground garage and lost my key. l can go on on with this. And contacted BMW North America, theyre even worse by misleading advertisement for the make of the ultimate pure JUNK. THEY NEED TO OWN UP TO THAT!!!!!

I would like to share my disgust and aggravation with BMW Assist. Last night, after dropping my son off at soccer practice in South Florida, I placed my dog and my purse in the front seat of my BMW X5. I proceeded to close the door and walk over to the driver’s side. To my disbelief, all the doors were locked and my dog was stuck in a stifling hot vehicle. I called BMW Assist frantically, requesting that they open my door. They asked for all my information including my address, vehicle VIN, etc. The only information I was unable to provide them with was my enrollment date (as all the paperwork, along with my dog), was locked in my vehicle. I begged the woman to ask me any other security question. She said “sorry, I can’t help you”. I told her my dog was dying and suffocating in the vehicle. She said without this information she was unable to send a signal to my car. She was rude, unsympathetic and didn’t care about my dog’s well-being.We called the police and the city sent a fire truck and policeman to assist in saving my dog’s life. Luckily, however, my son was able to sign into our account, from home, and retrieve the necessary information before the police needed to get involved. I was so upset that I called both BMW North America and BMW Assist. I was told that this was a security measure to avoid theft. I would rather my car be stolen than to lose a life. What would the woman have done if it were a baby? Let the baby die to avoid potential theft.I am sorry, but I choose life over theft. I was also told that the woman could have opened the vents in my vehicle but never offered to do so. BMW Assist supervisor also told me that she should have informed me with an officer at hand, that she would be allowed to send a signal. Neither step was, however, taken. I am very fortunate that my dog is alive, but unfortunately from no assistance provided by BMW. This is unacceptable and procedures and policies should be established so that this never happens again.

This is a complaint regarding lease termination inspection for BMW and outrageous payment that BMW charges for repair. I had an inspection for my BMW 528i on March 14, 2012 for the lease termination done by reps from Data Scan. For some reasons, the inspector refused to give me a repair cost after on-site inspection and suggested to call next day. He pointed 5 scratches on the body though. When I called next day, it turns out it was the phone number of BMW Financial Services. The representative told me over the phone that complete repair cost is $900.00.About a week later a got a statement from BMW Financial Services showing that my repair cost (5 scratches, from 2.5 to 10 long) is $2,700. I have a strong feeling that BMW running a scam, trying to punish customers who do not want to continue leasing from BMW. I paid my charges already but I want everyone who consider leasing BMW what they will face at the end of the lease termination.

After driving Mercedes Benz for over 10 years, I wanted something different so I purchased a 2009 BMW X6 50i. I had this vehicle for 3 months already and my vehicle has been to the dealership thrice for major issues, fuel injection, oil leak, and now, something about the damn exhaust or whatever. I have warranty but to be having these issues and my vehicle is at 51k miles makes no sense. The techs have no idea what they are doing because they rely on diagnostic test that don’t tell you everything. I found out that the issue I’m having now was replaced previously. I contacted corporate and told them that if this vehicle is a lemon, I want a replacement vehicle or reimbursement because this makes no sense. Also, they don’t give loaners unless you purchased a vehicle from that dealership. **. I have a rental for over a week and my vehicle is still not fixed. I get a phone call from the dealership tech saying, oh we found more issues. Just fix my damn car so I can move on. I’m already looking to switch out. Don’t buy BMW products, a waste! I didn’t have this issue with Mercedes or any other company.

I bought a new 335i convertible with run-flat tires in June of 2009. I drive it daily and at present, have 35k on the odometer. The car has had five cracked wheels (about $850 each) and eight premature tire blowouts or bubbles ($400 each) and all from normal potholes that are a routine part of life in the New York commuter world.BMW covers none of the expense and my complaints to Mt Kisco BMW and BMW North America have been met with sympathetic acknowledgements but no willingness to help in any way. Ive spoken to the service manager at Mt Kisco and he listened politely and said that he would try to help, but then never got back to me. Ive been driving the same commute daily for twenty years and never had a blowout or a wheel crack on my two previous Jaguars. In my opinion, the car isnt fit for the road. The wheel/tire combination is faulty and BMW has left me hanging out to dry. Never again, BMW.

I purchased a BMW 323i on 19, January 2012, chassis no. **, customer order no. ** from Auto Bavaria at 3A Persiaran Kerjaya, Seksyen U1, Glenmarie, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. After using the car for about a month, with a mileage of 1,600 km, I observed a bulge on the tire (continental run flat). After sending and requesting for a change of tire on many occasions, my request was denied.BMW cited external factors for the tire bulge, thus declining my request for a new tire. My claim was that the car is still under warranty; BMW staff even agreed that this is a common problem with this kind of tire. If so, why supply such tires for my car? Even if there was an external factor (as claimed by BMW), it must have been minimal as there is no dent on the rim or the body. If the tire can’t withstand a small impact (if any), it must be a sub standard tire. Thus, I request for a new high quality tire for the car. Please advise, thank you.

I placed a new vehicle order for a BMW X5 in September 2014, at BMW Monrovia, CA. BMW North America (NA) changed the delivery date several times. I had no confidence in them but my sales guy kept telling me different stories why they had to put off the delivery. I finally got my vehicle in November 2014. BMW NA then said they would give me a goodwill check ($1,028) for late delivery.I started to have a nightmare for this check. After two months I did not see the check, I went to ask my sale guy at the dealership. He later told me BMW NA sent a $500 check to my previous address. (My sales guy made a mistake by giving BMW NA that address as I had not lived there for two years). He said he had contacted BMW NA several times to ask for the check. It appears no one there was taking care of this matter. After hard pursuit, I finally had my check delivered to me in May 2015. That is six months later after they made their promise. I had to chase after my sales guy who was lazy by not advising me timely what was going on with this matter. The experience was horrible. There was no such thing called customer service with BMW NA. It is shame you have to keep chasing after them closely for more than six months to do their work. It is a shame with BMW NA.

I am leasing a 2017 BMW 330i BMW. I really like my BMW car. On Sunday July the 30th my daughter and her daughter three month old baby girl were in the back seat in my BMW. My daughter ask if I would stop her Wendys at 3041 Headland Dr. When my daughter got out of the car to go into Wendys her daughter was asleep. I was sitting in the first seat on my phone. After about two minutes later I heard my granddaughter crying. I opened my door to get out and to get in the back seat with my three month old granddaughter. I shut the drivers door and went to open the back door and it was locked and went back to open the drivers door which I had just got out of and it was locked also. I checked all doors and they were all locked. I was devastated. My three month granddaughter was lock in the car and crying. I could not understand this at all because my keys to the car was still in the car and the car was still running. I was so upset, I ran into Wendys to tell my daughter and to ask for help. All this time my three month old granddaughter was in the car still crying really bad. My daughter and about six other people ran out of Wendys to my car to help. Because all doors were locked a young lady had to break the back window on the BMW for us to get the door open to get my granddaughter. We got my granddaughter out ok but she did have broken glass all over her from the young lady breaking the window. Your BMW Lover.

The water pump recently blew on it at 60K but I heard that is typically the ONLY thing that fails on this car. One major thing in 7 years... still love the car. Everything works flawlessly on the car and I often get comments from co-workers about how awesome the car looks. DO NOT buy car from this dealer!!! This deal is selling you a defective car!!! I purchased a brand new 2020 X7 from this dealer. And the car was broken after 7 days driving: 1. The touch screen is 100% off, I cannot control anything on the display. 2. The bluetooth wipe out my and my wifes phone (Andriod and iPhone both) connection 3 time a week, which mean we need to reconnect/reconfigure our phone connection every other day. 3. The battery is dead permanently, the error signal was on when I purchased it originally, but the sales told me it will be back to normal after couple days driving. But after 1 week driving, the battery error signal is still there, and need to be replaced. 4. The rubber seal on the front end hook is coming out, and looks really ugly and do not match the BMW brand at all. 5. The auto lock is not function at all. After enabling this feature, the auto lock still not working at all. This feature is very normal one on any premium brand car back to 5+ year ago. I personally own another Acura and Tesla, all of cars have this function and there is no problems to use such function in the past 3 years.6. All of the cellphone app remote control function is not working on my car. I cannot lock/unlock/flash/horn the car via the phone app.I drop off the car 5 calendar days (4 business) ago. And service department is still working on it, from the time it took, I can definitely tell this is not a small issue. Since the service adviser told me, replacing a new battery will only cost them half business day. So for sure, there is a huge defective on this brand new X7 car. I am really surprised that this dealer will sell defective car to the customer, especially on such high end/premium 7 series product line. Update @2020-06-24: After 5 days waiting, today afternoon the service department just called me back, saying the display is totally off, and cannot be fixed by them. So they decided to order a new display from BMW, and the new part will by arrived in Friday (so another 3 business days waiting). And then they will need to replace the display part completely! Can you imagine this is what happened to a brand NEW X7, with 7 days driving and only less than 200 mileage.

I bought an 18 month old BMW 520d 2010 version on the basis of the fuel economy stats of 60+ mpg on the open road and 44 mpg in urban areas. I purchased the car from Vines Approved BMW dealer in Guildford, Surrey, UK. In practice, the car is only giving me 40 mpg on the open road and 25 in urban areas. I was given an as new warranty from the dealer and they have fully checked the car and they say that all the parts work fine, .etc but the practical answer is that they dont. A gap of 20mpg between advertised and actual performance is simply not close enough to be ignored. My legal question relates to the product description being completely misleading in their advertising and now they are hiding behind parts performance rather than the operating performance that they sell the car on. I have asked for them to either buy the car back or give me compensation based upon actual performance relative to that which is promised and they have rejected me. I would be most interested to know if others have had similar experience and whether I have legal grounds to pursue them.

I purchased a 2006 BMW 750li new from Reaves Motorcars of Tampa. I noticed the paint starting falling this year. I took it to the dealer who stated he felt there was a defect in the paint/clear coat. He called BMW to come look at the problem. On the once a month visit from the regional manager, Bill **, I was called by the dealer to drop the car off for his review. When I came to pick the car up the service tech informed me that it was not warranted. I was also informed that he never even looked at the car. I then spoke to the general manager, Kelly **, who gave me the 800 number for BMW customer relations. I called them and explained the problem and they scheduled another time for the same rep, Bill **, to actually look at the problem. I went to the dealer to meet the rep to discuss the problem; he no-showed and let me sit at dealership waiting on him. I called the 800 number and I expressed my frustration about the unprofessional behavior of the rep. When I got home I received a blocked caller ID call from the rep who asked to come look at the problem but never apologized for his no-show. He showed up at my home with an obvious attitude, looked at the car and said it was not warranted. I was very disappointed. I then took the car to a different dealer, Bert **, to get a repair done unrelated to the paint. When completed I asked for a price to have the paint repaired. I received a call from the service tech who stated they thought I should have the BMW rep look at the paint as they felt there was a defect. I asked who the rep was and the answer was Bill **, the same rep from the other dealer. I explained his past evaluation and asked for a price anyway. I called the 800 number again and shared my concern and they said there would be no further action in spite of my request for a different set of eyes. I feel BMW has poor representation and does not want to fix their defect. I would not recommend a BMW. I will get the car repainted and submit a claim in court.

I own a 2011 BMW X3 with 98,000 miles. Bought it new. Never an issue with car. Out of blue it refuses to go into any gear other than park. Have it towed to BMW dealership in Tenafly, NJ. Am told it needs some sort of electronic component replaced in transmission. No indicators of issue prior to this. Repair charge $5000. So I now have to pay 10% of original purchase price for car to be drivable. A car with very normal usage and no problems. I have no recourse. BMW deaf to my concern about the costs. Done with BMW. Never again.

I am the first owner of A 2008 528i. Just installed my 3rd transmission into my beemer, its hilarious such German build? First one out at 45000 miles about over 5 years ago, then the warranty just outdated and go through back and forward negotiated with the dealer. Finally they paid for the transmission and I paid $1800 for the Labor charge... And 2 weeks ago its out again and this time I had 139200 miles on it, which mean about 5 years again, so just have the rebuild one puts on for a few days, and runs good so far, other than transmission problems, everything are fine. I love this car, just dont understand why cant they good one like Japanese... Haha!

I cant believe that this car would need new tires with only this mileage? The front is fine so tell me how does this happen? Hope CEO HAS TO BUY TIRES ON REAR OF CAR. This is the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened to me in all the cars I have owned. Cant believe for the $$$$ of this car that this could really be the truth that you are not telling anyone? Not very impressed now with this company. Now I am going to get alignment and buy 2 new tires for a $100,000.00 car with only 22k miles on it? Hope people that work there get to experience this?

I took my car in to Momentum BMW for one thing (running out of gas due to defective fuel sensor) and my car died on me the day I picked it up from service. I took it back and they said they fixed the problem which was caused by an oil pan leak. Picked the car up again and drove to work for it to die on me again. I had it towed back in to the service center and they came back with a report of sludge in the engine. I was told I needed a new engine that would cost up to $10K. Even though my car wasnt doing this before Momentum BMW repaired it, I tried to comply. I supplied receipt from outside service and they rejected it because they didnt like the receipt format. Im not sure that they even submitted other receipts of service done at BMW. When asked what was submitted, I was told they couldnt release that information. Ive been given the runaround. Ive been a loaner car for 2 months. Ive been treated like a liar and devalued as a customer.

I got my engine car (BMW E46/320D). Its hard to start, so I sent it to Leal & Co. Ltd. for the repair. After several repair and adjustment, they sent a bill of RS 27,093 for the repair. I paid for it and took my car but the next day, I got the same problem with it. So I would like to make a complaint of how can it be possible that a day after such repair and payment, my car is still the same. At the end of my wifes lease, she had an inspection report done at the BMW dealership where she had started the lease from. They performed an inspection of the car, then to find out that after she left, BMW Financial had the car picked up and brought to another state to only then get an excessive damage bill in the mail of an extra $500.00 dollars. My wife said where did this come from, we had an inspection done at the dealership and there was no such damage done to the car, my wife then said please show me pictures of the damage; they could not produce such pictures, but to only say she is being held liable for the excessive damages, and it has been harassment from that point on.Now, they have a place called vital recovery that is threatening her if she does not pay and going into our personal accounts. This is extremely poor taste of business from such a large car dealership. They cannot produce any proof of damages but to only say that the damages are there, here is a financial company that took a vehicle that she once leased and took it into another state, and then, they said that they performed another inspection and that is where they are coming up with this extra damage. Now, how much of a trap is that. My wife told them that I then needed to be at this inspection to witness it but now look what BMW financial is trying to pull, I say they damaged the car transporting it, and are looking for my wife to pay for it, and I wont have that. All they are doing is harassing my wife everyday.

BMW NA does not want to take responsibility for the defective airbag sensor
BMW NA does not want to take responsibility for the defective airbag sensor on my vehicle. I was driving on I-880 in Hayward, going about 70 mph, and the driver-side door and curtain airbags deployed suddenly. There was absolutely no impact to the vehicle (1999 BMW 323i). The road was very smooth and gravel-free. I pulled to the side of the freeway, a very unsafe area in that location. My vehicle wouldnt start back up due to a safety feature in the safety terminal of the battery. I contacted BMW NA and it took them close to two weeks to get an engineer to look at my car. I received a call from the claim representative and she told me that the airbags deployed because my car is not new.” After rebutting that ridiculous statement, she proceeded to find another answer (other than the airbag sensor is defective, of course). The engineer found there was some kind of impact to the car. I know there was no impact because I was driving my vehicle. I requested documentation for my records and the claim representative told me she cannot give me any documents because the findings are internal information and she cannot give that information out. She proceeded to offer that BMW NA will pay for the damaged parts, but I had to pay for the labor, which would cost a minimum of $4,200. The manufacturer should hold full responsibility for the damages. If BMW NA believed they were not responsible for the incident, why would they offer even one penny toward fixing the damages? I believe that a class-action suit should be pursued. There have been many incidents reported about this same situation. My vehicle was manufactured in December of 1998, one of the first vehicles ever manufactured for the model year 1999. Naturally, there would be some bugs/defects with my vehicle, especially considering that there is a recall for the airbag system on 1999 BMW 323is (but only for the 1999 323is manufactured between April and August of 1999). Please help. I will try to round up as many people with this same issue and have them file complaints as well.

I own a 2006 BMW and for years this car has been very reliable. I recent detected an oil leak and delayed getting the car into the BMW dealership in Richmond BC to get the problem fixed. As a result the power steering belt and mechanism failed and eventually fell off. I accepted the issues as my error and went to the dealership to get the repairs done. The service person was good and took care of my immediate needs (** I believe). The car was in the shop for 3 days and on the Saturday mid-morning I went to collect my car. They informed me at this time a light was burnt out and that I should change the part. Service person indicated 5 minutes which the job took more than an hour causing me to miss my morning commitments. Although unhappy with the wasted time I still was fine with the service I had received. This is where I have lost all faith with the BMW Richmond, Canada service team. 1/2 hour after leaving the facility my engine light came on. The car would not run at low RPMs and stalled at any stop light that I encountered. Since it was end of the work day for BMW, I returned the car Sunday morning and left a message for the service team to contact me. On Monday mid morning I called to see if they had my vehicle. I was told that they had it but were not sure what the problem was. Later in the day I was contacted and informed that it was an electrical issue. Coincidence? They claimed that the issue was not a result of prior work completed. I struggle with this as they needed to steam clean my engine compartment to assure that the leak was repaired. My understanding is that water and electrical dont mix well together, but oh well I took this one in the short hairs and gave them approval to repair the problem. This is where I lost it. A new service person calls me 5 days after my car has been in the shop to inform me that they have found another leak. Not only was this an oil leak but it was bad enough that the work needed to be done immediately. How does a car sit in their shop for that many days with none of their service technicians detecting the issue? If this was the last dealership on earth I would rather walk than do business with them. They lack customer service skills, poor service team that repaired my vehicle and have lost my business forever. I am in the market for a new car and will drive past them to any other dealership to buy my new car.

I purchased a 2008 BMW 335i as a second owner. Then, I discovered after the purchase that the title was branded lemon--manufacturer buy-back. Carfax did not have the word lemon until two years later when the state of California required the word lemon be added. Regardless, the BMW was a buy-back at 4,000 miles because the fuel pump failed. Eight months later, the below recall was issued:VOLUNTARY RECALL: BMW High-Pressure Fuel Pump Voluntary Emissions Recall--models w/ N54.The upshot of this is that my car was branded a lemon due to manufacturing failure but none of the cars post recall were branded as such. BMW refuses to intervene on my behalf to the California DMV, to reserve the title branding; thus, leaving my car worth 25% less than comparable values for this particular model. While trying to trade it at a BMW dealership, they confirmed that it wasnt worth 60% of comparable values.Doesnt BMW USA have a responsibility to make this right? None of this would have been known by me had I not seen a Carfax with the updated lemon language and had I not tried to sell the car, now with 35K miles on it. Please help me. BMW has flatly said that there is no recourse for me.

I just bought my 2007 BMW 325ci about a week ago. I bought it 250 miles away from where I live. I was assured that it had all been inspected by BMW in Tri-Cities, WA and that it was in perfect shape. By Archibald Motors in Tri-Cities, I bought and paid for the car and drove home. It did not seem right on my 250 mile trip, but I thought I was just getting used to a different vehicle. Oh no that was not it, the fuel pump was bad. I called the dealership and they said that they knew it was leaking when I bought it! This is a BMW. There are reasons we put our lives in their hands. I am so fortunate to make it home without an incident. They did tell me to contact BMW in Boise and they would pay for the repairs and they have all done a beautiful job. My point is is that it should have never happened in the first place. I am 67 and it was a gift to myself. BMW should be more up to speed with their dealerships.

I bought a 2007 BMW 550i with 50000 miles on it. So far I have spent almost 2000 in repairs but nothing has really been fixed, my transmission hard shifts between 1 and 2nd same downshifting, it jerks when taking off basically giving you whiplash starting off. Ive had the car reprogrammed twice, all that did was turn my entertainment screen sea green. They say I need a valve body which is a $2000 dollar part inside the transmission which my aftermarket warranty would not cover because they said since its electrical they wont cover it. But the warranty states they cover internal tranny parts which is another rip off these warranty companies. AC compressor failed, water pump failed. Suspension sucks, it shakes. Have bought new tires and like 5 wheel balancings and still vibrates at 60 mph. And the car only has 61000 miles on it right now. This is my second BMW, they both sucked, spent way too much repairing these cars and time wasted. It will be my last BMW and the dealer will not address most of these problems, they recommend getting just a whole new part so 40,00 miles later that part will do the same crap. Fail!

We purchased a CPO X50i from BMW about 14 months ago. Out of the 14 months, the vehicle has spent about 9 months in the dealership getting repaired. We’ve dealt with the typical drivetrain malfunction issues, which seems BMW techs aren’t well trained on how to fix. Each time that the vehicle would be picked up from service, within the day the same or new issue would occur. We even tried going to a different BMW dealership to see if we had better luck and my service advisor advised that I get rid of the car and there wasn’t anything else they can do. I finally contacted BMW North America and opened up a PUMA case. They claim to give me an update every week, yet I never get any updates. Bring the vehicle is t financed through BMW financial, we’ve been stuck having to make payments for a vehicle that isn’t in any operating conditions. In fact, twice the vehicle had heavy smoke and started to heat up, where the smoke was going into the cabin. I was driving with my son, who was scared for his life as we thought the vehicle was about to catch on fire. Being we were driving on the highway, it would be some time till I could pull over to safety. BMW NA asked us for our financials and contract for the vehicle purchase, but nothing has been done. We have officially been consistently in a loaner for over 5 months. I’m sick of it, it’s not fair to us, yet we have to pay the price. We have a 2016 Mercedes S550 and it’s our 3rd one, and no issues. We also had a 2012 BMW 750 and similar issues. I’m giving BMW 2 weeks to make this right.

I own a 2007 335i, which I purchased from BMW dealer, and always had it serviced by a BMW dealer. Around 35,000 miles I began having repeated problems with oil leaks, the service engine light would constantly come on and the engine wasnt performing properly. I was told that the codes just needed to be reset and that the problems were fixed. A few days later the check service engine light came on again. I went back to the dealership and was told it was the code for the fuel pump plausibility and all they had to do was to reset it with the software and it would be fine.A week later the same thing happened. This time around I asked them to take a look at the issue. I once again was told that the problem was fixed and that the codes just needed to be reset. The check engine light would come on regularly and I was always told the same thing - that it was due to the software update but the car had no issues.I took my car in to the dealership right before 50,000 miles and before the warranty expired to have an oil change and at that time I was told that the car had an oil leak and the fuel pump had to be replaced. They replaced it and reset the codes once again. I explained the car was not driving properly, as it would jolt and it wouldnt accelerate. The service rep said he would check on that and make the necessary repairs. I left the dealership and on my way home the service engine light came on once again. I went back to the dealership and was told they needed to reset the codes again.A few months later, I noticed the car was leaking oil and the engine was not running properly. The service engine light was also back on. I took it to the dealership and was told it was the fuel pump, and there was a problem with the turbochargers and engine. I was told it would not be covered under the warranty as the warranty had just expired. I had them do them complete the repairs as it was necessary. In less than 24 months, Ive had to have the fuel pump and oil gaskets replaced three times. The car went into limp mode as I was driving on a busy intersection and just turned off in the middle of traffic, putting my life as well as other drivers lives in danger. I was struck from behind by a van because the driver didnt anticipate me just stopping without warning. This a huge safety issue and BMW needs to be held accountable for withholding this information from customers. I had to have my car towed to the dealership and they refuse to warranty the defective items.I called BMW North America and spoke Leah in Customer Affairs and she informed me that it was up to the dealership if they wanted to apply the warranty or not. She said it is not up to the corporate office to make those decisions. I also demanded a copy of all my service maintenance records from the BMW dealership where I had the car serviced and they refused to provide them to me.I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Ross at BMW corporate office. I told him I wanted a copy of all my maintenance records from the SM BMW dealership emailed to me, as I couldnt go there in person but needed to the records to show proof that I had the fuel pump repaired numerous times. He told me he called over to the dealership and requested the records but they refused to email them to me and proceeded to say that they dont have to give me those records.I was beyond appalled that I would be treated that way, after all I had been through given they sold me a product with a manufacturers defect. I explained that the dealership was charging me over $5,500 for the fuel pump and oil gasket repair, yet I had already paid over $8,000 to have it repaired numerous times. The dealership refused to warranty the defective items. I am beyond disgusted with their lies, fraudulent practices and their sheer incompetence. Ive decided to retain legal counsel at this point.

This is the worst car I have ever owned. Bought in 2001 for a hefty sum, and every year, some minor stuff had to be fixed (heater fan stopped working, windows would not roll up, door handles peeled off, roof dashboard lining all bubbled up...irritating small things that added up to quite a lot). The service engine soon indicator kept going on and off, and the dealer said there were faulty sensors that needed replacing for only 800 USD. This is about 6 months after I just paid close to 4K for 100K maintenance. Then yesterday, the transmission warning came on, and the car started driving like pedaling a bicycle uphill. The motor had such a hard time I took it straight to the dealer. I was told the gears on the transmission wore out! The car had one driver, who took it to all the required maintenance, and always drove it in auto mode. For the transmission to give up after 110,000 miles is expected of a BMW. I had a Camry that lasted me 15 years without a problem!!! I am really disappointed with this car. My advice -- Do not , NOT, NOT, buy this junkie car. I do not know what happened. I will never buy a BMW, will not take one even if it was offered to me!!! Done with this car, done with the dealer, done and totally pissed off with this company. Euro junk, german funk.

The dealership is telling me that they can only trade in the car and I will have a shortfall of R100,000, which is extremely unfair from BMW as I got this problematic car in April 2012. Ever since I bought the car, it has been problems after problems. I regret the day I decided to buy a BMW ever in my life. That was the worst decision I have ever taken in my life. I have had the worst experience in my life. If this is the way BMW treats its customers, then they do not deserve the status they claim to give to their client - which is sheer driving pleasure. I am deeply disgusted and I feel ridiculed by BMW. While all I wanted was to have a great German machine, instead I found myself the biggest lifetime liability. My wish is for BMW to deliver the promise they give to the customers, which is a world class product and great customer experience. I would like BMW to contact me urgently as I am faced with a problem. The dealership is now forcing me to bring back the loan car that they have lent me as they feel that I must take my scrap car and it is not their problem, but mine.

My 2004 BMW 525 headlights have completely hazed over. I have tried several aftermarket products for headlight lens restoration. This has not worked or even made them marginally clearer. My dealer service person believes that the lenses were made of a lower quality plastic in this time frame compared to newer models. The only repair is to replace the whole headlight assemblies at $2,000 each. The Customer Relations person at BMW USA cheerfully took the complaint and said that nothing would be done. We are on our own. It is always nice to see a company stand behind a poor engineering decision, which is widely known within the company.

2009 BMW 335I - Battery was removed to be replaced. Closed trunk as car was in public place, now I cannot access trunk to replace battery, cannot use front jump option under hood as cables in trunk are touching or grounded. At this time the only option BMW is suggesting is to have car towed to BMW so they can troubleshoot at $175 an hour - and from what I have found is they will locate the fuse wire and use that to open trunk. They removed the key hole in 2009 with this car thus leaving the consumer in the lurch.
