Loved this car when I bought it a couple of years back. Maybe I got ripped on the service costs a bit but needed a battery pretty early on which ran me about $250, needed tires and brakes 2 summers ago ($1300), then needed an alternator and valve cover gasket replacement about 2 months ago ($1700). Three days later check engine light is back on, oil dripping under the car and it smells like burnt oil again- take it back to shop (indy not BMW) hoping valve cover gasket failed or was installed improperly and lo and behold they want another $1300 to replace the oil pan gasket. Could be the oil filter gasket but at this point its just too much. Ive had Hondas, Infinitis, Chryslers, Nissans, etc. and have never had this much trouble with a vehicle. Some of it is definitely bad luck but this is the worst vehicle experience Ive ever had. Dont get me wrong, the car is awesome but I cant keep the check engine light off enough to enjoy driving it. Its really not even the money at this point, I just cant keep it out of the shop and its not really reliable anymore. I would be afraid to take it on a long trip which is a shame. Actually looking to trade this in on an Infiniti G37x.

I bought a new 2013 BMW 328xi and at 17,000 kilometers I experienced shuddering when braking. Upon further inspection I was told my brake rotors were rusted grooved badly. Contacted my BMW dealer, and he promptly told me that brakes are not warranted, and it would cost $900 to replace them. There was very little wear on the pads or rotors - I questioned why I would replace them with BMW brakes, as the first set rusted out in only 17,000 kms???? And the new ones were NOT warrantied also!!!!!BMW head office in Germany emailed me that you must dry off your rotors after theyre wet!!!!!! My local service place laughed and said that that was almost impossible short of taking all the wheels off!!!!!! Normally car companies do not warrant brakes because they are considered a wear item, which makes sense, but mine were NOT worn! I replaced the rotors and pads with aftermarket ones that WERE warranted and would not rust! I am now taking BMW to court to get my $900 back. BMW were not even interested in finding out what conditions would cause the brakes on a $60,000 car would rust out before the FIRST oil change was even due. Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem.

I purchased my 2012 BMW X5 last November with 18K miles and a factory warranty. I brought the car in for its first service (in June, the computer told me) and oil change and to fix the tire air sensor. After the oil change was completed and supposedly the air tire sensor was fixed, I was told to call the service rep if I had any more issues. Well within a few minutes of leaving the dealer, the light flashed on and off and has been doing this ever since. Well I took it in today for another schedule service apt. - rear brakes (the computer told me too) - and to again check out the tire air sensor. I was told this would take one or two hours, so I waited (I was told they were out of loaners). (Note: work is over an hour away and home is 1/2 hour away). After over 3 hours, I got the car back and was told that I would have to come back yet again to fix this complicated tire air sensor - a couple of days will be needed to troubleshoot this issue, which I dont really care that much about. Air sensors are problematic on a lot of cars. I got in my car and the car said service check (computer) in two thousand miles (about maybe 6 weeks for me). So back at the dealer soon.Well I regret buying a BMW. It is an excellent ride. I didnt realize I would be spending so much time at the dealer for service for a late model car with relatively low mileage. So not worth it unless you live within a few minutes of the dealer. And yes the dealer will give me a ride anywhere! I work for myself, so every hour I am sitting in the dealer is an hour I am not getting paid for. I wish BMW would take some consideration for our time and realize not all of us have time to visit the BMW service dept. every month. I hope to get rid of this vehicle soon. So now I have to bring the car back for the third time - for the same issue. Oh well thats what I get for buying a BMW.

I got scammed by BMW. I entered into a 2-year lease in 2016. Few months before the lease ends, I purchased additional miles. I was told that any unused miles will be refunded. I returned my car yesterday and guess what, they refused to refund my unused miles. However, they found my left rear tire was a little bit more used than the other ones and they charged me $300. Plus the extra $350 fee to close the lease...Not only that but last year, I was in Europe for a month or so and totally forgot to pay my monthly charge, was 30 days late and paid as soon as I came back to the US and opened my mail. That was the only late payment I had during my entire lease. Well guess what, BMW reported it right away and my credit score got impacted so bad it prevented me to purchase a house. I wrote a letter to try to solve this issue, they ignored it. BUT the sales team kept harassing me to try to sell me a new lease... Yeah, you guys can keep trying. I dont want to deal with BMW EVER again!

I purchased a 2009 BMW 238i and on Sep 30 2011, I took it to get an oil change. I dropped it off, got a loner, and went to work. Before I dropped it off that morning, the car ran great, it had no ticking, no engine lights nor loss of power. I hadnt heard from BMW so I called them, they said that they had talked to BMW NA and I need to agree to them removing my valve cover, at my expense of $700. I said that I only wanted an oil change. He told me they terminated my warranty. My warranty was for 4years/50,000 miles, it had not expired. I was very upset and made multiple attempts to call BMW NA and the supervisor told me that they would have to go with what the service center said and there was no one else to talk to. Disappointed, I picked my car up.The check engine light came on and while I was on the highway, the car made some loud ticking noises and the car seemed to be experiencing some power loss, in the mist of high traffic. I was in the middle lane when it started, and I immediately got over to get off the highway. And as I pulled off the highway, the car suddenly shut off (no power). I barely made it off the road. It just shut off. I had to call for a tow. That weekend, the car cranked up and it seemed to be nothing wrong. I took it around the block to see if it was okay. The ticking returned and the car shut off again and I had to coast it off the road onto church grounds and call a tow truck again. And now it will not crank at all. This is my only car and I have to rent a car. I did some research online and found several recalls, for example: BMW High-Pressure Fuel Pump Voluntary Emissions Recall and Voluntary Emissions and Safety Recalls, and tons of complaints about safety and how BMW terminates a lot of peoples warranties prior to their expiration date. BMW seems to be putting all of our lives at risk and terminating warranties at will.

The BMW 300 is great for everyday driving. I love driving its 6 speed manual transmission! Its super fun to drive around town as well as long distances. The hands free features are also well designed. But, even though its a German car, its awful in the snow. We were very surprised by the poor handling in snowy conditions. We would not purchase this model again because of the climate we live in. It does not handle slick roads or snow well at all. Taking this into consideration, we might look at a different model. We really only bought it for the manual transmission.

So I get a call from my BMW dealer today saying a rock flew through my grill and damages A/C condenser and that will be $1100.00 to fix it. I said what? How is that possible. I asked how he could prove it was a rock and he said well show you the hole. I said do you have the rock? How can you prove that? He told me that he has about 3 cars in a month for the same issue. I told him if it is that common then why isnt there some sort of recall? He said if you dont like it you can have your car towed and bring back our loaner car. Ummmmm… Seriously! I called BMW and they told me that it is not covered under warranty even though I have had the new car a year and they see this often but because they dont get many complaints about it, there is no need for a recall. So to anyone who has or is experiencing this call into BMW and ask them to file a formal complaint, so you can save yourself thousands of dollars in the future.

I have finally decided to share this with all so that everyone who owns a BMW i8 understands what can happen! The purpose of me sharing this with you is that The Ultimate Driving Machine did not turn out to be ultimate for us! This was a very traumatic experience for us. My daughter and I still have nightmares about it. Thank God my daughter and I got out of the car in time before it bursted into flames. Please note this car is not even a year old and less than 7000 miles! The worst part was I was scared and panicked as I could not open the wing door. This happened on September 2nd 2017!

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2007 BMW 550i in 2009. There was a sporadic problem with the Sirius radio where it wouldnt change stations. I brought it in for service while the car was still under the original warranty to have it fixed. The service techs at Stevens Creek BMW could not reproduce the problem. The problem persists and I have brought it back in two more times but they can never reproduce the problem. I demanded that the radio be replaced and was refused. I called BMW customer relations and talked with Elizabeth ** at length about the issue. They refused to replace the radio because they cant reproduce the problem (which is pretty ridiculous since I reproduce it several times each week). Their logic is completely circular: they cant reproduce the problem it it doesnt exist. Transcript of conversation: So Im a liar? Oh, no, we believe you. So fix it. We cant fix it because we cant reproduce it and besides your CPO warranty wont cover it. But I reported the problem when the car was still under the original warranty. We couldnt reproduce it so we cant replace it under warranty. The Sirius radio is practically unusable. I spent a lot of money on this car. Its supposed to be the ultimate driving machine which I would think includes having a radio that works. This is just incredibly frustrating. The CPO warranty is completely worthless. The car also has crumbling front and rear window seals (on a 4-year-old car!) which the CPO warranty doesnt cover.I will never buy another BMW and I highly recommend that you dont either.

Ive been driving BMWs for 15 years and had come to trust the brand. I decided to spend a bit more than I wanted to buy a newer version (6 years, 2007 320D model) to try to reduce the generally high costs of maintaining old BMWs. The car had 80k miles, sounded and drove OK. Little did I know that between 2007 and 2009, BMW built their cars with weak timing chains and located them at the back of the engine where they could not be replaced without complete engine removal. Furthermore, the lower timing sprocket is integral to the crankshaft, so the latter has to be replaced as well even though the shaft is hardly worn (600 for the bit). If the timing chain is slightly noisy (not noticeable to most people), the cost to fix is at least 2000. If the chain fails, the engine instantaneously loses power without warning. If you can recover yourselves safely on foot from the fast lane, or wherever, the bill is at least 5000.My local mechanic noticed the slight noise under the engine. I took it to the BMW dealer who agreed that the chain should be replaced. BMW then declined to offer any good will contribution to the repair cost because the car was out of warranty and had been bought from a non-BMW dealer, even though all but the last two services were carried out by the BMW dealer. I have been advised by an engine repair company that they are repairing 3 or 4 of these engines per week (including other models made in 2007-2009) and that the new timing chain is stronger than the old, implying that a design-failure has been admitted by BMW in practice, if not officially. There is no instruction in the owners manual to check the condition of the timing chain (as there is for cam-belts in other makes) so owners are unwarned of this costly maintenance task. In my opinion, BMW, by not admitting their calamitous design errors, are foisting the massive costs onto owners. Be warned of BMW incompetence and insensitivity if you are thinking of buying one of their cars. I would be pleased to consider taking part in a class action against the company, alleging that their denial of fault is false and that they are liable for all repair costs. This would need proof with expert witnesses but might be affordable if enough people come forward.

Very racist, was trying to educate myself on finance laws as she must have seen my name and thought since I am non **, am illiterate and all of this without being aware of my background. Went on about how she has wide experience in finance. For $50 she wasted my time and even after asking her to take money from my account she continued with her rant. My 2007 325i floods on the rear seat floor. My 2002 528 did the same thing. This is a flaw that BMW needs to address. My 2007 325i battery died. BMW has it set up where one cannot buy an after market battery because they cannot be registered to the car, which prevents the car from realizing a new battery was installed and all of the warning lights flash on the dashboard.Im still searching for how the water is entering the car. I have looked at all drains, window seals and the padding in the door. I spent $350-plus to have my battery replaced and registered to the car.

I bought my 2002 BMW 330ci in October of 2011, since then I have had to have the cam shaft censor replaced ($270). It has been misfiring for an unknown reason causing the check engine light to stay on constantly and causing it to idle down and die every once in a while. Also, adding to my list of non working car parts, my trunk doesnt seal properly and leaks and the convertible top will not go down yet leaks every time it rains ($700 to fix) and my passenger door wont unlock and the lock is stuck down in the door making my passenger door unable to open ($300 to fix). Now it is February of 2012 and my reverse went out completely and with no warning at all. I have had nothing but problems in the short time I have owned the vehicle so now it is parked in my driveway until I can come up with the $4000 or more for a new transmission. I am not only dissatisfied but also angry and disappointed. I bought BMW because I thought I was buying quality and dependability. I am very let down and can honestly say once I rid myself of this money pit I call my car (which is hopefully very soon). I will never buy another BMW and will share my experience with other perspective BMW buyers.

I own a BMW X3 in the Philippines that is 5 years old, has been owned by me from new, always serviced by BMW and has 30k km on the clock. Recently the warning lights went on and it made a loud engine noise. BMW checked it over and told me that the transfer case needed replacement and that it would cost 200,000 pesos (USD 4,500). I checked on the internet about the transfer case and discovered that this was a common fault, that actually related to a plastic gear in the actuator. It seemed that the plastic gear problem was so common that a replacement was made and sold on Amazon.com. I bought the plastic gear for USD 50 and replaced the obviously worn gear in the actuator, perfect solution, no further problem. I tried to contact BMW in Munich because it seemed that BMW Philippines were being less than customer oriented. I assumed that BMW would be upset at such a bizarre situation. I was continuously referred back to Singapore, the regional headquarters, who constantly referred me back to Autozentrum, the Philippine agent. I finally got a letter from BMW in Singapore who told me it was their policy to only replace units, not parts in units. I tried to explain that this seemed to be disingenuous as the actuator gear was clearly a poor design and that charging USD 4,500 when a USD 50 part was obviously the solution, was penalizing a good customer and seemed to be short sighted. They sent me a curt note saying their policy was clear. My only advice is to buy a Hyundai, Honda, Subaru, Jeep, anything, but never a BMW.

The car (2013 BMW 550i M pack) has been top 10 from day one, a little low on gas mileage but great power. This has been my 4th BMW and just about all of them have been nothing but excellent automobiles, that said, I wont be getting a 5th, Moritz BMW on Arlington TX was just outstanding on making the sales, very happy with the experiences but... the service department was nothing but condescending and arrogant folks. I try Autobahn in Fort Worth TX and they did a lot better but still, not at the level I was hoping for. The car outperformed just about anything I ever had except for minor details. Because of the 2013 M pack the car has 20 wheels and they seem to be great for highway high speed but on plain city streets you need to be very careful. I purchased a full coverage road hazard contract for the tires and wheels so, after some unfortunate road bumps, some tires had to be replaced. A great car and thats the true, power train, body, interior, electronics and the whole thing. Honestly I couldnt find a better tuned road beast for under the price I paid for it, around $73000.00. The only other car with enough quality worth of mentioning was a 2009 Mercedes-Benz E350 Sport Package, that was too a great car but, thats another story.

This is regarding my 16 months old BMW 5 series, RJ 14 CF 0999. As you can read the previous mails, I have been raising the concern for the quality of tyres since May 2018. That is within 4 months of purchase of a brand new 5 Series, luxury line BMW. The tyres installed in the car were Pirelli, and after 3rd incident of car tyre bursting, we took the matter to our nearest and purchase dealership, SANGHI MOTORS in January. We waited for the Sales Representative, Mr Ankit ** over there as he held the car between 24 December to 22 January, roughly for a period of 1 month for inspection and other undisclosed reasons. Finally when enough mails were ignored, I had to purchase an MRF tyre from the MRF dealer shop.Meanwhile on 17th January we renewed the insurance for Depreciation shield and Tyre and BMW secure. In March 2019, the front side car tyre bursted on the highway again leaving us, the owners, yet again stranded on the Highway for the 3rd time since the purchase. Again dusting off all the responsibilities, BMW Service executives maintained that the car was being driven in wrong conditions. Now despite taking all the necessary covers and insurances, I am unable to experience a satisfactory experience with BMW. My family personally own cars Jaguar XJL, Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Audi A6, Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes ML 250, amongst our elite cars in our firm, M/s Gulshan Rai Jain II. Never have I experienced such substandard quality that the LIFE THREATENING conditions happen in these cars. The Pirelli tyres have been depreciated at 50% and 25%. Due to the bursting of substandard tyres the rims were also bent. BMW Sanghi Motors have depreciated the Rims at 20% and comfortably charged me that as well.SUMMING UP. I am unable to understand why I am liable to pay for 4 substandard tyres and for 2 rims as well, when the car has not even completed 18,000 kms. If the tyre is substandard and is prone to bursting then the car will come on rims. And if the rims are also substandard, then the company should take action. Moreover if 4 isolated incidents of BURSTING OF CAR TYRES have happened and BMW SANGHI CLASSIC MAINTAINS THAT CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN IN WRONG CONDITIONS. If BMW seriously believes that 4 times car tyre has been bursted due to driving conditions THEN I AM NOT AFRAID TO HIGHLIGHT THIS MATTER TO PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE TO BE JUDGED. I dont want to blame with insurance company, so please dont direct me towards them as they have no role in providing me substandard material in the first place.

$1200 seems to be the benchmark for service at BMW. Funny how another BMW owner in a conversation in the service department said the same. Im guessing this is the goal quota. It would be interesting to know how many others might coincidentally be sharing the same experience. Always friendly but always something else. Last visit I was told about an early oil leak that I would need to address probably on the next visit. Today was next visit and it was not mentioned. Quota was met with 800 dollar rear brakes and 425 spark plugs. This is the third visit in the last 12 months maybe and each 1200-1400. I wont be driving another BMW. By the end of 2010, I noticed the paint on hood was fading and a white cloud began to appear. I took it to the dealer, who did not have any suggestions and thought it might be from car washes. But there was nothing they could do, it was not covered by the warranty. It got worse and spread to the roof of the car (but the sides and back look like brand new). I had another shop look at it. He said waxing would do me no good, that the car would have to be repainted and that the car was likely damaged when it was brought in on the boat. They probably repaired it and in doing so, had to repaint or touch up the paint, altering the original paint job and the clear coat finish. I have brought the paint condition to the dealer both in person and in writing, but I get the same answer - not warranted. In addition, the rubber around both my front and rear windshields has totally disintegrated. There is nothing left. I brought this to the attention of the dealer. I was told my car was out of warranty. Other BMW owners have told me they have experienced the same. This seems to be a common problem. You would think BMW could afford to use a higher quality rubber on their vehicles. I have had several issues with this car. A bad exhaust smoking problem, while my car was under warranty, which took months of complaint writing to the dealer as well as BMW North America to finally have them diagnose the problem and make the repair. I love driving the car and the BMW look, but I am so disappointed with the quality and the service of BMW. For the amount of money they charge and the advertisements regarding ultimate driving machine, you would think they would do better in the customer relationship department and stand behind their product.

I was extremely disappointed and furious with the service the guys at BMW of Dallas provided. This is not something you expect from a luxury car dealership. It was utterly unprofessional and zero consideration for a customer’s inconvenience and situation. My car was towed in Monday morning at 10am from work and I was being handled by a service adviser Andrew ** reporting to service manager Ricardo **. He was probably the worst guy in terms of communication. I don’t expect them to keep me updated on my cars status every few minutes but at least 1 phone call/email or text in this day and age to let me know an ETA so I could plan my ride back home from work. I usually take my car to another BMW dealership in Plano, TX Classic BMW and they are very professional. Being a BMW dealership, I expected a similar professionalism and style of communicating with their customers.I finally get a call from Andrew (this was after my multiple calls, voicemails to find out if the car had made it to the shop or not since I didn’t ride along with the tow truck) to let me know at around noon that they had received the car and will let me know what the charges maybe before they work on it. Again, no update until 4:15pm and that was again after me following up multiple times trying to find out an ETA so I could plan on my ride back home and pick up kids from after school care. I talk to him and he said he was unable to replicate the issue and thus they couldn’t fix the issue. My bill was about $300 for diagnostic fees. At that point I was furious as after all that lack of communication, he had the temperament to let me know that there was an outstanding bill.I let him know that I was very disappointed and upset with his way of communication and all he had to say was they were extremely busy and I was not their only customer. This was the last thing I expected to hear from a luxury dealership like BMW. I asked him I wanted to talk to his manager, Ricardo ** who was obviously not available to talk to me that time. Ricardo (also goes by Ricky) calls me at 7pm Monday evening to apologize and say that he expects his staff to at least communicate with their customers and let them know what the status may be. I told him I would be over tomorrow (Tuesday) to pick up the car.Tuesday a.m. (day 2) when I called them to notify that I was going to need a shuttle pick up from my work (which is about 8 mi. 15 min drive), Carlos at their shuttle desk told me he would have someone at 3pm to pick me up. I wrapped up my meeting and was waiting outside for my ride. I call them at 3:20 p.m. to check on the status and talk to Carlos after multiple transfers on their phone and long holds, he tells me that the shuttle is picking up other customers and will come get me in next 10-15 mins. At that point, it would have been 3:45 p.m. I finally get tired of waiting and get a ride to the dealership. We reach there at about 4:15 and I called Carlos again to check on the shuttle status out of curiosity and he tells me the guy should be there in another 15 mins?? At that time, it would have been maybe 4:30 p.m. or more. There was no apology or remorse from Carlos either at that point. So basically they didn’t care or feel bad keeping their customers stranded for over 1.5 hours. Again no communication whatsoever to let me know what the status of the shuttle was or any type of intention to remediate the problem. I met Ricardo finally in person and told him how upset I was. He said he had talked to Andrew about his lack of communication but I really doubt if he had taken any action. It is Wednesday afternoon and I yet have not heard anything back from Andrew ** in terms of any voicemail or emails? When I left, I had a letter attached to my receipt that asked to provide a customer feedback from their client experience manager Erika **. I left her a detailed voice message yesterday about my experience on my way back home, but another example where the manager has not gotten back to me at all.I feel the issue seems to be with the team there where they don’t think their customers need to be treated with utmost priority and professionalism. Especially when there has been so much of an inconvenience and hassle for someone, there was no effort on their part to get back and try to make amends. This was one of the worst experience having to deal with a dealership in terms of communication and way they treat their customers. VERY DISAPPOINTED. NOT RECOMMENDING TO ANYONE IN THE FUTURE TO USE THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT.

The paint on the roof is fading & the rubber seal around my back window is chipping and cracking on my 2005 530i. I have gone to the BMW dealer & was told it was normal wear & tear. I have a 1999 Acura & the paint is not fading nor have any of the seals cracked on the windows. It is a shame you pay all this money for a BMW and the body of the car does not hold up. I have also gone to several body shops & been told the roof must be painted & window seal replaced. I am now forced to pay to have my roof painted and seal replaced on the back window.

I own a 2006 BMW and for years this car has been very reliable. I recent detected an oil leak and delayed getting the car into the BMW dealership in Richmond BC to get the problem fixed. As a result the power steering belt and mechanism failed and eventually fell off. I accepted the issues as my error and went to the dealership to get the repairs done. The service person was good and took care of my immediate needs (** I believe). The car was in the shop for 3 days and on the Saturday mid-morning I went to collect my car. They informed me at this time a light was burnt out and that I should change the part. Service person indicated 5 minutes which the job took more than an hour causing me to miss my morning commitments. Although unhappy with the wasted time I still was fine with the service I had received. This is where I have lost all faith with the BMW Richmond, Canada service team. 1/2 hour after leaving the facility my engine light came on. The car would not run at low RPMs and stalled at any stop light that I encountered. Since it was end of the work day for BMW, I returned the car Sunday morning and left a message for the service team to contact me. On Monday mid morning I called to see if they had my vehicle. I was told that they had it but were not sure what the problem was. Later in the day I was contacted and informed that it was an electrical issue. Coincidence? They claimed that the issue was not a result of prior work completed. I struggle with this as they needed to steam clean my engine compartment to assure that the leak was repaired. My understanding is that water and electrical dont mix well together, but oh well I took this one in the short hairs and gave them approval to repair the problem. This is where I lost it. A new service person calls me 5 days after my car has been in the shop to inform me that they have found another leak. Not only was this an oil leak but it was bad enough that the work needed to be done immediately. How does a car sit in their shop for that many days with none of their service technicians detecting the issue? If this was the last dealership on earth I would rather walk than do business with them. They lack customer service skills, poor service team that repaired my vehicle and have lost my business forever. I am in the market for a new car and will drive past them to any other dealership to buy my new car.

Bmw x5 bought new for over $90,000. It has only done 78,000 miles and the car just died whilst I driving on the motorway. I had it taken to BMW SPIRE in London. 2 days later they emailed me saying I have to pay them 16,000 ($20,000) to repair it because the timing chain had gone. I had the car serviced by them one week before and they said nothing about it. No warnings. Nothing. It has a full service history with BMW SPIRE. The Bmw cars are not fit for purpose.

On August 24, 2014 I purchased a used 2009 BMW 335i with 58,213 miles. Unfortunately, from the time I drove vehicle off parking lot, it has been nothing but a money pit. I will start out with when I had to return the car to dealership shortly after purchase because the sunroof did not work properly. The problem was fixed, however it was just the beginning because more problems ensued and it seems like there is no end in sight. Not long after, check engine light is always on, I think it is the oil, even though it is about three months that I have car. I take car to get oil changed only to find out that it needs new shocks. I paid handsomely for new shocks in hopes that I am good with car. However, when I collected the vehicle and started using it again, a problem still existed. Three weeks later, I take it back to mechanic and they do a diagnostics test and determine that its the engine! The engine cylinders are misfiring. I havent had this car for 6 months and there is a major problem. My warranty was up but I was led to believe with the 82 point inspection that I had a good car, I mean its a BMW. Engine problems are big deals which is why I had to contact the dealership. The person who sold the car to me, took car to get checked out with the dealerships BMW service. The diagnosis I was given was that I needed to be using high quality gas and dont go below a quarter of a tank before refilling. I was then sent on my way. I was patient but two months pass and check engine light still lighting up. My car is shaking and I now know I have a LEMON of an expensive car. I actually took car to the San Antonio BMW dealership because I wanted to know if they had seen the car and I was told that dealership never brought the car in to check for misfires. So I contacted dealership again and thankfully, management agreed have the engine cylinder misfires fixed. After that repair they were done with me. I really felt that all problems were resolved and now I must maintain and keep up with repairs that would happen as more mileage was put on the car. I had forgotten that I actually had a lemon of a car. My nightmare was really about to begin. In August, it will be three years since the purchase of this 2009 BMW which currently has approximately 97,200 miles. Here is the rundown on repairs since purchase, however I may have left some out: Water pump, New tires (the warranty dealership sold me was bogus), Coolant, Serpentine belt, Air conditioning, Brakes, Oil pan gasket, Valve cover gasket, Oil hoses, Engine drive belt and tensioner, Spark plugs, Direct engine coils, Upper and lower pulleys. As of today, the car is in the shop because it turns out that the reason the power steering belt keeps breaking (second time it was replaced was in April 2017 so this is third time to replace) is because there is a crack in a mounting bracket of the power steering pump. Mind you, I had taken the car to the BMW dealership for a diagnostics test on June 27 June 30, 2017 because the car had been running in limp mode since May which is dangerous especially driving during rush hours to and from work. Our mechanics diagnosis suggested it could be an indicator that the high pressure fuel pump needs to be replaced and mechanic did not want to work on it in the event that it was the high pressure fuel pump which is under warranty and only the BMW dealership is able to replace. The car was at dealership for three days for diagnostics only to find out that it was not the high pressure fuel pump but the low pressure fuel pump sensor. Upon reflection, I learn that not all issues with car can be determined with diagnostics otherwise that power steering bracket crack would have been revealed since I was having to replace the belt for the third time. The costs for repairs are power steering problem is approximately $1100 and fuel sensor approximately $500, I hope. Fuel sensor pump is scheduled to be fixed this Thursday with the dealership but now I will probably have to rescheduled since I just had to pay $1305 for the spark plugs, coils and valve cover gasket. Total costs thus far, are well over $11,000 and rising after this repair be worked on now. No worries I have receipts. I have been so frustrated and overwhelmed with these car problems that no one should have to deal with in this short period of time for a presumably well-made top of the line car. I have been inconvenienced because of the many times of being carless and have taken time off from work to get car repaired because mechanics do not work weekends and as a teacher I have to schedule based on my teaching schedule. I contacted BMW North America because I wanted to know if these problems are typical and if I had any recourse to consider. They take no responsibility for a lemon of a car and advised that I contact the dealership who sold me the car because they had no records on the maintenance of the car. I also informed the lienholder because the cost of repairs and still owning on the car just doesnt make any sense to hold on to a lemon of a car. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE BUY A BMW! I understand maintenance and replacing parts but geez this car started falling apart at 60,000 miles. Now the only recourse I have is to trade in car while I am upside down and buy something safer and less expensive because I cant afford more repairs. Amazing how these top of the line car manufacturers take no accountability for such poorly manufactured cars. I was suckered by the name brand and thinking it made it a better vehicle. Live and learn.

I purchased an 08 M6 from the dealer in May of 13. It had 63,000 mi. In the fall 0f 14, I had the clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder replaced for a few thousand. In Dec. of 14, the check engine light came on. I parked it and had it towed to the dealer in Jan. They said it didnt have the correct battery so they replaced it, synced it to the computer for several hundred. Then they said it needed a new vanos pump as the chain was broken and metal shards were found in the bottom of the oil pan. Solenoids in the VANOS system had broken, causing the chain to break. The vanos pump was replaced and now Im told they couldnt get all the metal shards out and I need a new engine for $25,000.00. This is the top-of-the-line flagship vehicle for BMW. It has 72,000 mi. on the engine and has experienced catastrophic failure. I owe several thousand for the work thats been done and it still needs a new engine. Id appreciate suggestions, advice.

BMW X1 is a wonderful auto. But lease is expensive and living in NYC means that use is limited. This is because of traffic congestion, crazy bike riders and poor driving habits of many motorists. Insurance cost is also too high as is parking. So not economically feasible for such a high priced vehicle. But I love it. Next time may buy Subaru or use on demand car rental services by BMW/Mercedes if they develop here in NYC.

I love BMW. BMW cars are well manufactured and can last a lifetime if properly maintained. Many people with these luxury high end cars do not understand that regular maintenance alone will not allow for any problems to come up. Its a car, IT MUST BE DRIVEN! I cannot stress that enough. Many people come in complaining of a problem when it is just a common thing to happen.

BMW Nightmare! 7 months ago my 2008 X5 died while I was driving the vehicle. Fortunately, there were very few cars on the road at the time. I jumped the car and took it straight to United BMW in Duluth, Georgia. They informed me that everything checkout fine and I simply needed a new battery. Fast forward 7 months and the vehicle died again while I was driving at a speed of 45 mph. I nearly got rear-ended. My family and I made it home after getting the car jumped, only to have it die in my driveway. Oh wait! It gets better. The vehicle was towed to United BMW in Duluth this morning. I explained the history to the representative named Scott **. Scotts response to me is as follows: 1. You must drive the vehicle at least 20 miles a day. 2. You must lock the vehicle when youre not driving so the system completely shuts down. 3. We recommend you purchase supplemental power for the vehicle to ensure the batter is adequately charged.4. If your fuel is low you may also experience problems. My response to Mr. Scott **: No one in their right mind would purchase a BMW based on what you described! His response, My job is to give you the information. I apologize if your sales representative failed to do so. Needless to say, Im afraid to let my wife or kids operate this vehicle. BMW, IF THIS ISSUE DOES NOT GET FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL, AND WE END UP IN AN ACCIDENT, YOU WILL PAY DEARLY!

I purchased a 2008 BMW 335i as a second owner. Then, I discovered after the purchase that the title was branded lemon--manufacturer buy-back. Carfax did not have the word lemon until two years later when the state of California required the word lemon be added. Regardless, the BMW was a buy-back at 4,000 miles because the fuel pump failed. Eight months later, the below recall was issued:VOLUNTARY RECALL: BMW High-Pressure Fuel Pump Voluntary Emissions Recall--models w/ N54.The upshot of this is that my car was branded a lemon due to manufacturing failure but none of the cars post recall were branded as such. BMW refuses to intervene on my behalf to the California DMV, to reserve the title branding; thus, leaving my car worth 25% less than comparable values for this particular model. While trying to trade it at a BMW dealership, they confirmed that it wasnt worth 60% of comparable values.Doesnt BMW USA have a responsibility to make this right? None of this would have been known by me had I not seen a Carfax with the updated lemon language and had I not tried to sell the car, now with 35K miles on it. Please help me. BMW has flatly said that there is no recourse for me.

After receiving a recall letter from BMW for the brake vacuum pump (recall campaign no. 10v-446), I took the car to Crevier BMW but was told they didnt have the part. I never heard back from Crevier BMW, and I forgot about it until the brakes completely failed without warning. I had the car towed to the nearest dealer in Irvine. They replaced the vacuum supply line but not the vacuum pump. They recommended that I replace the leaking vacuum pump at my cost of over $900. The description of the problem included in the recall letter from BMW specifically indicates that the leak from the vacuum pump into the vacuum hose is the root of the problem. I spoke to Jody ** at BMW and she said that the recall is a federal mandate and this mandate only requires them to replace the line and not the pump.I have owned BMW cars for more than 12 years, you would think they would stand behind their product and keep a loyal customer happy. They truly do not care about the customer. They will only take care of the problem if the car is leased and/or under warranty, and even then, theyll put off the work until the car is out of warranty.I have had a new 750Li since 2006. From the beginning, the engine oil light would come on and I would have to take the car in to be topped off. I kept asking why I had to do this so often and they assured me that it was normal for the 750. I had a new 745 before this car and I never had this problem. I didnt worry about it since there was no sign of a leak on my garage floor. Now that the car is out of warranty, they tell me that there is a leak.

Bought a pre certified 2012 X5 BMW with 32,700 miles. At about 35,000 miles noted a jerky acceleration while in the 3,000-4,000 rpm range in standard or sport mode. Took to dealer and they could not get a code to fix or diagnose. Was given vehicle back to continue driving while they looked for help from a district service lead tech. During the time to wait for reply it became more violent in moderate acceleration. There are no sounds associated with this issue, just not a smooth acceleration. Once throttle is no longer calling for medium to hard response the jerking stops and all is normal. Note rpm and shifting are all normal during this jerking. Vehicle was scheduled to go back to address jerking when engine went into safe mode one week before follow up. It was diagnosed at 42,300 miles electric water pump failed. They replaced water pump (under warranty). As to the jerking issue tech was told to remove drive shaft to validate either drive shaft issue or transfer case issue. Once shaft was removed jerking stopped. I did not have any prior vibration so they determined it to be the transfer case. They replaced it with new one (under warranty) and it immediately stopped jerking during medium to hard acceleration. My concern is that with this low mileage and reading several BMW owners with similar issues that this is a major flaw that needs addressing beyond the standard warranty. I was lucky in that mine was diagnosed before the 50,000 mile original warranty expired. I have owned 3 prior BMWs from 2002-2008. I put high mileage on them at 250,000 miles plus so I know them well as to what wears out and when. None prior have had these issues so early in mileage. BMW dealer was excellent in taking care of me (Gault BMW). My concern is going forward into the 100,000 plus range with these parts already failing. BMW you have some issues to address!

So my cars power went out, I did some research about the recall it had with the battery cable. I got the car sent in for that battery cable recall, they ended up taking longer than expected to fix it. Okay so I was patient, very nice to the dealership. They told me the car is fixed, I went and got the car. Whilst getting it, I was told that my regular for my back window is broken... Weird, my regulator wasnt broken before. So the service advisor told me he was going to get his manager to fix it then hell get the car out to me asap. So I thought they fixed it, didnt think anything of it. I took the car, wanted to listen to some music... Turns out my aux import AND USB port are both not working. So Im okay with it, called them about it and the service advisor, Cody, never answered my call. So I went on with life. Take in mind, two of my friends who got this recall done, BOTH of their starters went out at the SAME time. So I told this guy, Cody, that if my starter goes out... Ill be back, he goes thats interesting, but definitely let me know if the starter goes out. So I have the car for one day... I pull up to a gas station, turn the car off to get some gas. Try and turn it back on. Wow turns out my starter went out. Called BMW to get it looked at, they tell me my starter is out and that its going to be a whopping $1,400 to fix my starter and regulator for my window. This is ridiculous, so the manager called me and basically said that Im WRONG over and over and he had to be right. I asked him if it were a possibility that the starter got too much power to it? From this new cable. NOPE Im wrong, theres no chance at all. Just because the starter is somewhere else doesnt MEAN that this recall defected my starter. Weird cause my car was in perfect condition before that recall, and before the power went out. Will never be doing business with this corrupt company ever again.

My car has 62,000 miles and I have spent about $5,000 on repairs and I need to spend another $5,000 if I want to do everything that the house recommended. My guess is that BMW is learning from Detroits old book of how to go down.

This is a complaint regarding lease termination inspection for BMW and outrageous payment that BMW charges for repair. I had an inspection for my BMW 528i on March 14, 2012 for the lease termination done by reps from Data Scan. For some reasons, the inspector refused to give me a repair cost after on-site inspection and suggested to call next day. He pointed 5 scratches on the body though. When I called next day, it turns out it was the phone number of BMW Financial Services. The representative told me over the phone that complete repair cost is $900.00.About a week later a got a statement from BMW Financial Services showing that my repair cost (5 scratches, from 2.5 to 10 long) is $2,700. I have a strong feeling that BMW running a scam, trying to punish customers who do not want to continue leasing from BMW. I paid my charges already but I want everyone who consider leasing BMW what they will face at the end of the lease termination.

Unsafe unreliable products. Owned this vehicle for a year and a half. Have been able to drive it for 4 months of that, with no replacements offered during down time. Don’t have the time or energy left to delve into the details of all the headaches and frustrations with my X6 hybrid, or the $20k+(Seriously, no joke!!) it has cost in repairs the past year and a half.

Firstly, I must state that I have driven BMW for over 20 years til July 2016. Let me start by saying I am a professional taxi driver. I do mainly corporate work. I have tried to build up a nice little business for myself. My mantra was that I provided reliable service in a good, clean car, at reasonable rates. When I went into this business I looked at all the makes and models of cars that would be suitable to deliver the type of service that I was trying to achieve. I ultimately settled on the BMW 520D (The ultimate driving machine or so their marketing team would have you believe). My plan was buy the car in England 2 years old, keep it for 3 to 4 years, writing the depreciation off against my tax liability. The year is 2009. I have built up my business and was going from strength to strength. At this stage I am on my second 520D car as a taxi.I go to Joe Duffy motors BMW Finglas to get a service, as I am due my NCT the next morning in Fonthill. I go for my NCT and the car fails, due to too much oil in the car. Irate, I phone BMW Finglas and I am put through to the Master Mechanic. The gentleman does not have the greatest of English, but after 20 minutes he finally grasps what I am saying and tells me to drop straight over with the car and he would remedy the matter, as it is a simple process to drain a little oil out of the car. While I am still on the phone, the service manager comes on the line and in no uncertain terms tells me I must have put the oil in myself. The said Service Manager then demands that I pay for keeping the Master mechanic on the phone. I laughed at this, and I never went back to Joe Duffy Motors Finglas. After getting this sorted myself by a good garage the car drives very well, with me only having to replace the gearbox, the clutch and cooling system. We now skip forward to 2013. In August 2013 I purchased a 2011 BMW 520D. 2-year-old 50k miles on the clock. Full service history. Service pack and BMW warranty. Beautiful machine. Great drive. Smooth driving experience. The first thing I noticed is that every time I wash my car the headlights blow. This is covered under warranty so no cost to me but I am later informed by BMW that if I keep blowing bulbs they would not be replacing them on an ongoing basis (I ask is this normal to happen, no one can answer but also no one investigates the cause. I will have to replace the bulbs every 2 weeks for the life of the car. This mystery is solved in 2016.) Then January 2014 it all changed. Timing chain went. BMW replaced no charge (car off the road for 6 weeks). Then, oil leak was ongoing for 6 months. BMW said that it was not a leak. It was the engine bedding in. (I was back in touch with BMW every week and down to the garage most weeks and was always told that the leak was fixed) that it was a different leak each time??? It took 6 months to sort the oil leak out. Then 2 weeks later, coolant leak. 2 water pumps and 2 radiators later (I paid for 1 of each then I was told they were faulty). It takes over 1 month to sort the coolant leak issue. Then, diesel leak. In fairness I brought the car down and it was repaired first time. No further leak. Then, timing chain went again. BMW replaced no charge (car off the road for 4 weeks. They are getting quicker. Must be all the practice they have got from the F10 Model). I drive the car from the BMW garage in Naas and as I get to the Esso garage on the Naas road the oil light goes on. I purchase 3 liters of oil. I ring the garage screaming blue murder over this and I am informed by the service manager that it is grand as the engine holds 6 liters and not to worry about it as they had put the correct amount of oil into the car. Oil leak again for 2 months down every week and every week I am told the oil leak is fixed and that each oil leak from then on is a new oil leak. Now we move forward to November 2015. Guess what??? Timing chain goes again. I contact BMW and the car is towed down to the garage. Now the service manager informs me that he has recommended to BMW that they replace the engine to which BMW say NO WAY. BMW look for the work sheet to compare what had been fixed the last 2 times. BMW fix the timing chain no charge to myself (I am off the road for 3 weeks). The ultimate driving machine is back on the road but for how long? I wont be holding my breath. 1 month goes by after the timing chain has been replaced. Now a new problem has arisen. The crank bends, or so I am led to believe, and the bearing disintegrates inside the engine. Back to BMW with the car (oh the joys of driving the ultimate driving machine). I pay 5k to have the car repaired. I get in the car and as I am driving up the Naas road I try to check the oil reading in the car. Its not working??? The windscreen washer is not working??? The bonnet is not sitting right on the car??? There are scratches on the drivers side wing where some village idiot in BMW has leaned on the car looking into the engine and his zipper has scratched the wing (I have pictures of same). I contact the garage and they say I have to bring it back to replace the sensor in the sump no charge. Then I find the heating on the drivers side is not working. BMW said that they did not do anything to the heating (strange that). I have asked BMW for a list of all the parts that have been replaced in my car since I bought it. I am still waiting as details of anything that was repaired under warranty, I am not privy to. The service manager informs me that there is something peculiar with the mileage of my car but stops short of saying the car was clocked. I went back to the garage I bought the car from and I informed him of what had been said and what I felt had been implied. He goes to see Conlans and was told that I misunderstood what they had said to me and what they meant was that I did very high mileage.Does that mean the car is not fit for purpose and BMW the ultimate driving machine is only good for short trips to the shops and not able to cope with long distance driving??? If the car was clocked, then it would have shown up in the BMW service history. My car is serviced every 22k kilometers. If a light comes up on the dash its straight in to be repaired. I still say when the car is running, it is a pleasure to drive. It is now February 2016. The coolant leak is back. The heating on the drivers side does not work. The bonnet is not on right, but I am sure Conlans will remedy this. My insurance company will not transfer my policy onto another car if my own one breaks down again, as I have done so too many times in the last year. My policy is renewed in May. The breakdown service I use has informed me that if I breakdown again before May I will have to pay for towing, as I have exceeded the amount of tows in a year.Coolant leak fixed in June 2016, oh the joy of driving a performance machine. I have never had more than 3 months trouble free driving. At the start of July I had to replace the headlight unit with the module at a cost of 1280.00 (this solves the mystery of the blown bulbs). It is now the middle of July 2016. I am now broken down again on the Howth Road at 12:20 am. The tow truck I have been told will take almost 3 hours to get to me. Finally have the piece of ** car on the back of the tow truck. Did you know that if the engine is not started, the car cannot be simply put into neutral. No this is a BMW one of the finest motoring vehicles on the road today and because of this you have to jack up the car, remove the bottom cover off the engine and release the drive shaft. WHO IN GODS NAME THINKS THIS ** UP???As it turns out, the engine is seized. Overheating??? Lack of coolant. Checked the coolant levels they are fine??? Lubrication either too much or lack of? Oil levels are ideal and before I am asked it is the correct oil recommended by BMW themselves? Mis-assembled? I would have to check with BMW over that wouldnt I? But like asking a burglar did he rob me??? What do you think the answer will be? I have lost numerous accounts due to the fact that I am now seen as unreliable. I am at my wits end. I have tried to be reasonable and polite with both the garages and BMW Ireland but I now firmly believe nice guys only finish the race if they push the BMW car over the line. I have tried not to put my emotions or feelings in this letter. I have tried to just state the facts as I see them. I know I cannot face another year of dealing with this poor service and bad treatment from both parties.I contacted BMW Ireland and had no joy or assistance in any of these matters. I thought I was buying a premium car to service the executive clientele in the corporate sector, how wrong I was? It would have been better to have bought a 10 year old Skoda for a third of the price. At least then I would have been able to keep working. My mileage in kilometers is 315,000. I have calculated that over the last 3 years I have been off the road on average for 1 week per month. I can only assume that whoever is reading this letter, is wondering why I keep going back to Conlans BMW if I have had so much trouble with their work over the last few years. Well here is the answer. I have to keep going back to them as they did the original work and to protect the warranty on the work that has been carried out by them on either BMWs behalf or for work that I have had to pay for.I have asked, on numerous occasions, if I can bring my car to another garage to be repaired and I am told yes you can but you will have to pay for the work to be done even though I have paid through the nose for the work that has been done so far. I have driven BMW cars for the last ten years and I always said that they were the best driving machines in the world. I cannot, in all honesty, say that anymore and who can really blame me? I feel that BMW do not give a fiddlers about customer service and could not care less that their vehicle is a piece of crap. I have now bought an Audi A6 in the hope that it is better than the 520D piece of **. You may have gathered by my letter I harbor a certain amount of bitterness towards BMW and their lack of customer service that I feel has been shown to me. I am now going to setup a twitter account to highlight just how badly BMW treat their customers.

This month again, it was the radiator hose. I have to pay $480 for a radiator hose. I am very upset. This is a very well maintained car, but it never is trouble free, and every trip to the dealer end up costing me money. As a lifetime BMW customer, I have never felt this disgusted. I definitely want to get a refund on this outrageous charges.

I got a lemon. This is the most expensive car I ever paid for. I had driven many different types of cars. So far this 2009 BMW 335i gave me so many troubles. My car is 19,500 miles and since December 2011, my car had been at the shop for 13 times. It’s in the shop again right now and I dont know when Im going to get it back. Its one problem after another. BMW advertised their cars as the ultimate driving machine, I think the quality of their cars had felt way below standard. There is nothing I can do about it since besides selling it. Dont bother to call their service manager or BMW of North America to waste your time. You will be going around in circles and you will find yourself angrier with gaining nothing. I had drove BMW for many years. Bottom line is, do not buy any BMW, the quality of their cars is not built like before.

The car is beautiful, the customer service is bad. I called when my first lease is up. After so many calls, I thought we solved the problem. I leased another one and everything was okay. Now I tried to lease another one, because my 2017 lease ended. They are telling me that I owed them money from 2014 lease. I called to resolve the issue, they were rude and arguing. They keep telling me different stories. I do not recommend it at all. I think i am going bake to Audi. I tried them before, they were a lot better.

I purchased a BMW 323i on 19, January 2012, chassis no. **, customer order no. ** from Auto Bavaria at 3A Persiaran Kerjaya, Seksyen U1, Glenmarie, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. After using the car for about a month, with a mileage of 1,600 km, I observed a bulge on the tire (continental run flat). After sending and requesting for a change of tire on many occasions, my request was denied.BMW cited external factors for the tire bulge, thus declining my request for a new tire. My claim was that the car is still under warranty; BMW staff even agreed that this is a common problem with this kind of tire. If so, why supply such tires for my car? Even if there was an external factor (as claimed by BMW), it must have been minimal as there is no dent on the rim or the body. If the tire can’t withstand a small impact (if any), it must be a sub standard tire. Thus, I request for a new high quality tire for the car. Please advise, thank you.

I am a Canadian citizen owner of a Quebec registered (licensed) American Z4 staying in Florida for three months until early April. Last week I misplaced one of my car keys set, so I went to the Ferman BMW in Palm Harbor FL for a replacement key. I was told and given by a representative of the parts department a document that said that it was against BMW policy to provide a replacement key for vehicles with foreign titles/registration, and suggested that I contact BMW care, which I did the following day.On Friday morning January 9th I contacted BMW customer care and explained my situation to two specialists (Ross and Kristina) and since they could not help me that someone at a higher level would contact me later in the day! NO ONE DID!! I find it disturbing that a BMW owner with proper documentations would be left stranded for days because of a policy that leaves no room to judgment and that no one at BMW Customer care, care enough to take action and use his or her judgment to resolve the situation.Updated on 01/19/2015Last week I wrote a complaint that I was trying to have a replacement key made for my Z4. That same day Kristina from BMW customer care contacted me to say that she needed more time to reach someone to resolve my problem - that since my vehicle was registered in Canada that it was against BMWs policy. I have been waiting since January 9th to have this problem resolved! I dont quite know what my next step should be! Write a letter to the head office in Germany? Thank you.

I purchased a 2009 BMW and was having issues with starting the car a couple years ago. I would sit there and try so hard to start but wasnt able to. Took the car to several auto repair places including BMW but no one could figure out why the car wouldnt start. I even had one BMW auto place put a new starter in. Eventually I ended up leasing a new car costing me thousands of dollars. After I leased the new car I received a recall notice in the mail that there was an issue with the fuel pump. I think BMW needs to reimburse me the cost of the leased car.

I have a very big disappointment with the way your services are rendered with regards to availability of Parts. Anyone who purchases BMW expects no harassment and quick service from your company’s end. However this is my second instance that my car is hold in your service center for at least 25 days due to non-availability of part that is as common as a headlight.Last time car in service center was due to a manufacturing fault. Still had to wait for a period of not less than a month. Even this time if I have to wait for similar timeline for headlight replacement I don’t see any customer satisfaction or value for the amount spent. Point been please fix my car in a weeks’ time. If done so I will be very much obliged.Car was purchased from dealer- INFINITY CARS PVT LTD. When it was taken we were never warned about these shortfalls in your service center otherwise I would have never purchased your car and especially a new model. Also I will like to share my experience which is quite an unsatisfied one to not purchase any new model launched by BMW for at least 2 years till service centers start stocking at least the most popular parts.

Contacted BMW North America AND Bob Smith to repair, no one takes responsibility to help us. After the car had to towed to Bob Smith for diagnosed (it was already diagnosed elsewhere to determined the engine went bad already) they told us it will cost over $1600 to diagnosed. Then they told us it will cost us over $20,000 to replace the engine. Yes, you read it correctly... $20,000 NOT $2,000.Bad customer service when it comes to warranty. Only if we could beg the public not to purchase BMW, we would. If youre thinking of owning one, please think twice before you do it. BMW will give you the best service when everything is going well, but the minute something is seriously wrong with the car they will show their true color. So sad & extremely disappointed with the way BMW handled the whole situation. Weve owned 4 BMW but we are going a different direction now. I am sending this complaint because I would like to leave a precedent in relation to BMWs poor service (customer service, car technical service department, and the financial department). When I got my car lease BMW in 2016, I got the tire and wheel protection they offered me. But it was the worst decision I took. This protection never cover me beside is the worst protection according with the policy. I got the tires and Wheels insurance which covered any damage that might arise. A few weeks ago I saw the need to carry my car because the screen showed that the tires on the back of the car were with air deficit, in addition to a physical malformation that we noticed one of the wheels (bowel). After reviewing it in the service, they came to the conclusion that the two rear tires had to be changed, but that the insurance only covered one, and the other would not be covered because it did not have a hole or a nail. Irresponsible situation on the part of them, taking into account that if I had continued with that car because of that bad physical formation of the tire I could have exposed myself to having an accident that could possibly have generated death or physical damage. I explained the situation and obtained the advice of both mechanics, lawyers, and BMW employees, who concluded that they did not know why I had not covered the insurance. Finally pay to be able to withdraw my car. Now I receive a bill where I have to pay the dealers fee in addition to a remaining payment. I think BMW irresponsible, because in my case I was forced to deliver the car before the time because I did not feel safe driving a car in which I had no guarantees. Because of this, I am in the process of sending a complaint to the BBB or consult it having illegal process initiated. Thank you.

I have owned my 1995 BMW 740i since I graduated High school and received it as a graduation gift. The car now has 145,000 miles on it and is still running. BUT along the way it has developed bad valves and valve guides, the transmission has started to shift hard sometimes and I believe it has developed a rod knock. Yes the car is exceptionally comfortable and all the electronics still work, and is very fun to drive for a 2.2 ton luxury sedan, but a $65,000 car should not have these kinds of issues at 145,000 miles. These cars are very complicated and do have problems as a result, but they should not be having MAJOR mechanical problems 3/4 of the way through their life. I also realize that if youre going to drop that kind of money on a car you should be able to afford the repairs, and luckily I can, but I shouldnt have to!! I just want a luxury car that isnt in the shop every week, my Mercedes was a COMPLETE piece of junk (and it was new) and my 3 year old Audis tanny went out at 56,000 miles. So its sad to say but honestly my BMW has been my most reliable, and thats not saying much.

BMW 2011 x535i Premium Problems - I purchased this car new 2 years ago. My car boiled at 12,520 mi. in New Mexico, was towed to Tucson At 2 am for 1.5 hrs. Tucson BMW - requested them to drain and measure oil. They refused! BMW book for owners states: Too little or too much oil can damage engine and/or transmission. BMW doesnt care. In Sept. 2013, got front brakes at Escondido BMW, CA. They refused to change the rotors that were badly rusted and below specs until I returned to the BMW shop after taking it to a German shop to see if they did the work. They didnt. Upon returning, I was able to force them to change the rotors. Since purchasing the BMW, the car hesitates and jerks for about two blocks before driving right. The car emergency parking brake is designed to ruin the transmission if it isnt applied in a certain order. There is a pin in the brake that will pop if not set right and if it breaks off, you need a new transmission! $$$$. The leather is cheap and thin. I am a single retired woman that doesnt drive daily. My seat is worn as if it had 60,000 mi. on it, instead of 29,000! I also paid an extra $1,300 for contour seats, but the ride is so hard, you become a bobble Head with a headache if you arent driving on very smooth highways! My entire rear muffler system arrived totally rusted when brand new. BMW has a 10-yr. Rust warranty, but refuses to honor it! Windshield was defective in the 20,000 mi. range. BMW refused to honor their Windshield warranty also... My cost: $903! The glare from defects blinded me. Navigation went out three times, blank red, then all in German language... Acktune? Attention! Etc. My AM-FM and Sirius also went blank. If they cant replicate it at that moment, they wont fix it and dont care. Navigation works, but also is defective and often tells you the wrong way to turn, so you also have to rely on N, S, W, E. When you buy the car new, they want you to pay hundreds to update your navigation. It does not come updated!!!Gas mileage is not good like they claim. Neither is the twin turbo engine. I was told by a Vista BMW dealer mgr. that I need to add a qt of oil every 2,000 Miles. I dont think that is in the manual either. The oil seals go bad often, claims a BMW mechanic. When BMW was being taken apart by BMW rep at Encinitas BMW, they scratched my rear side bumper! They also did not put the car back together right and frequently called to tell me the car was ready when they had not performed the work, causing multiple trips to dealers and much aggravation and gas.Filed a lemon law in NJ where I bought the car. If I had purchased it in Calif. BMW would have bought the car back; but all they want to give me is $8,000, which is standard for any lemon law complaint in OH and NJ unless the car quits and is a life threat or injury from malfunction is proven. Someone in Munich had my same vin# except for last 5 nos. Their car stopped in the middle of the highway, lost all power and brakes! This happens to some BMW owners of X5s. At the time I purchased the car, I thought I loved it. Now that I own it, and have researched all problems with this model. It states in Car magazines this is the 2nd worst SUV for 2011 and is on the Do not buy list because of all major problems. This car sticker: $63,225. Worth: 0 in safety and reliability and service at BMW! BMW does not honor their warranties! If you file a lemon on BMW, be aware they add code 13 on their confidential Store copy of your invoice. This means the dealer must contact BMW Corp. in NJ., who in turn tells the dealer to do nothing except oil changes and they told me their hands were tied! BMW corporate just did a fabulous remodel for $100 million in New Jersey. It seems nobody can make them honor their worthless warranties! My recommendation: Do not buy this car unless you are a European mechanic. BMW does not tell you to buy a software update program for $325 or your car may totally fail leaving you helpless and frightened when it shuts down. Locks are iffy. Sometimes they work, but they seem easy to break into. Remote battery fails frequently and all BMW does is temp. charge it. BMW can erase all the codes on your car if they dont want you to know what is really wrong.I had German shop run 3 pgs. of codes that were bad on my new car. BMW Ohio kept these records. They were mostly camera errors. If you can find a German shop to run codes on your car, then you will know what is really wrong. BMW will never admit to any failures and paid millions in fines to NHSTA because they refuse to turn in complaints to the national board according to the law in the time frame regulated for the first few years on any BMW! Why are they allowed to get away with breaking the law????? And why cant they be made to Honor all their warranties, which you pay for in the price of the car and is an Incentive to purchase the car? Prestige BMW in NJ also failed to give us the $2,500 holiday credit incentive they promised! And it took two months to get the privacy cover that came with the car new! You be the judge! Please consult Carcomplaints.com; NHTSA 2011 X5 problems and recalls; Recallowl.com for more info on autos. I hope this is helpful to others.

Since I purchased my new car, we have spent thousands of dollars on repairs, that were always not under warranty. I requested a detailed report of service history, and I was told that I could not get one. The car would go in for a problem, get back, and days later, have what is supposedly a new problem. I was told by the Service and Sales Department, that all BMWs over 50,000 miles fall apart, and always needed fixing. They are a typical car repair service, taking advantage of people who know nothing about cars.

And now it made me upset even more. Because the battery dead again in 2 1/2 yrs later. But this time they said I have a shortage in the wires or whatever and it costs me over a $1000.00. At this point, I just gonna sell that piece of **. And never buy another BMW. I believe Ive been ripped off by BMW or the dealership.

We sent our 2009 BMW 328i for 85000 mile service, at the same time our A/C was not working. BMW West Houston did a full check, and recommended a lot of parts changes, including the evaporator + gaskets, auxiliary belt and tensioner + bolt-belt tensioner, oil filter housing gasket. The total cost was 3000 USD+. Immediately when I took my car back after the service, the car panel shows the Triangle exclamatory mark, according to BMW West Houston shop that this is the software issue, can be reset easily, I can bring the car back to reset. From the last service, 3 weeks later, the driving mileage shows 570 miles, I start to hear a sharp noise, and soon the service engine soon light turned on. I brought the car back to BMW shop, after diagnostic, BMW has quote again 3000+ USD for some other parts to be changed, and told me to reset the software back I need to pay 500 USD to remove that. It is ridiculous after the full service with a lot of recommended parts replacement, just after 3 weeks the car has such a big issue again, especially there were about 10 days we actually didnt use the car in between. I am very disappointed with BMW quality, also very disappointed with the service quality.

To begin with, I have on six BMWs in my life. I purchased a brand-new 428i BMW from Flow BMW in Winston Salem, North Carolina. I have had the car for six months and it had 4000 miles on it. I am a single person and have only had three people in my passenger seat since owning the car. The leather started wearing terribly especially on the side bolster. I took it to the service department, as I was told to do, and spoke with the warranty guy. He informed me that BMW does not cover their leather under any kind of warranty. I calmly explained to him that only three people have been in the passenger seat and that the driver seat, which I get in and out of numerous times on a daily basis, was in perfect condition. His response was it only takes one time for something to happen! This really upset me especially him knowing that I have been such a loyal customer and took such excellent care of my vehicles. Not to mention that I have spent thousands of dollars at that dealership and my family has also. So, there I was with a six month old car and torn leather in the passenger seat. Oh I was not a happy camper. After having read all of these complaints about BMW my question is has their quality started to fail? And why do they get such condescending people to work at their dealerships? He couldve been much nicer to me instead of treating me like a second-class citizen. I know for a fact that other car companies that are not considered a luxury car manufacturer warranty their stitching and leather, so it leaves one to wonder. I started to take this higher to BMW USA, but I knew I was fighting a losing battle. I suppose it is what it is but Im still very unhappy!

I bought a 2008 528xi from Virginia. Drove 8 hours back to New York no problem. The next day drove the car, low coolant lights appear. I drove to the dealer; they bleed the car and put coolant in the system. Day 3 check engine light appears on the dash not on the computer screen. I brought it back to dealer to hear I need a new water pump and thermostat (-1465) later. Day 4 I received back the car drove around, while in idle the engine malfunction screens comes up and smoke... Smh! I brought the car back to dealer they say it’s an air bubble locked in. So they bleed the car and did a software update. Ok, I drove the car for the low coolant signal to come back on! I call they say top it off with tapped water. I said okay calmly. Went to class came back coolant all over the street!!! Smh Whats Next???

My 2006 330xi has been a great car. My warranty expired after four years. During the four years of covered issues including replacement of tires twice (very loud run flats) and replacement of chrome around the windows that oxidized, I was still a happy owner. I noticed that the rubber strip that meets my windshield and the top of my car was flaking off of the car. I called my dealer, BMW Devon Hill. First, I was insulted on the telephone when the service technician asked me if my car was outdoors. Then, I brought the car in and he looked at the problem and showed it to the manager, and when I returned, I was told that I was out of warranty. He was kind enough to give me an 800 number to call. Why he didnt go any further to help me is the first complaint I have.I spoke to a very nice girl over a period of 10 days who also told me that I was out of warranty and basically told me to have a nice day. I wrote a letter to BMW. Someone called. That was a miracle. He asked me a few questions, called back, and had the same final decision. My complaint is the rubber probably cost about $5, if that and the labor might be 10 to 15 minutes. This automobile, ultimate driving machine cost me $42,000, and once I went out of warranty, it was, Goodbye. Youre out of warranty. I couldnt be more disappointed. I would never buy another BMW for something as small as this problem. I was insulted and basically dismissed by everyone. I think this is terrible public relations, customer service, call it whatever you want.

After driving Mercedes Benz for over 10 years, I wanted something different so I purchased a 2009 BMW X6 50i. I had this vehicle for 3 months already and my vehicle has been to the dealership thrice for major issues, fuel injection, oil leak, and now, something about the damn exhaust or whatever. I have warranty but to be having these issues and my vehicle is at 51k miles makes no sense. The techs have no idea what they are doing because they rely on diagnostic test that don’t tell you everything. I found out that the issue I’m having now was replaced previously. I contacted corporate and told them that if this vehicle is a lemon, I want a replacement vehicle or reimbursement because this makes no sense. Also, they don’t give loaners unless you purchased a vehicle from that dealership. **. I have a rental for over a week and my vehicle is still not fixed. I get a phone call from the dealership tech saying, oh we found more issues. Just fix my damn car so I can move on. I’m already looking to switch out. Don’t buy BMW products, a waste! I didn’t have this issue with Mercedes or any other company.

I bought a 2003 Dinan 525i used with ~60K on it. In the last 7 years Ive logged another 180K+ on it. While I have had to do repairs (I work on it myself) it is nothing out of the ordinary; tires, brakes, coolant system rebuild (pump, radiator, fan clutch, overflow tank and pulleys/belt), alternator, O2 sensors, vanos seals and intake rubber ducting, all gearbox fluids changed. It is all to be expected for a car of this age. I have no complaints as the car has served me well. Some interior trim has broken or weathered and has been replaced, and the sunroof tracks will get replaced this summer. I am getting it detailed to celebrate its 250K milestone. This car owes me nothing! It has served me well and I have no indication that its getting tired.

Many times the check engine light or battery drain light (or whatever) comes back on or recurs within a day or within a week. As soon as I pick it up from the shop this time (its getting the THIRD battery now), Im selling it. Ill never own another one again. EVER. Dont waste your money. It is not a trustworthy car at all. It is not a trustworthy car at all - put me in a near-death situation. I just about avoided a major accident due to a manufacturing fault with timing chain which should last for 200,000 miles (BMWs claim) and my car has only done less than 68000 miles. This was brought to the attention of BMW before the incident but they are trying to hide behind corporate write-right.It is generally accepted that, for all cars, timing chain should last for the lifetime of the engine. This is a known issue associated with the N42/N43 engine (fitted in models between 2007 to 2011 which my 3 series is from). Even though timing chains are supposed to last a lifetime, clearly this seems to be well known issue with BMW engines and they are well aware of it. We were not aware of it until it was brought to our attention by an external mechanic after taking the car to their garage due to some warning lights. Please note we had taken this to a BMW approved service centre before taking it to an external garage and this was not diagnosed property by BMW approved mechanics (Cooper BMW Cobham to be precise).I informed BMW directly about this issue and also highlighted the fact that the brakes were becoming stiff. They ignored this to a point where the brakes got extremely stiff and nonworkable, suddenly on my way to home with my 5 year old child. Realising this, somehow with all my strength pulled the car to a nearby shopping place, driving crazily. The recovery man checked the car and found the brakes to be so stiff. He asked me, Do you know you would have ended up in a tragic accident, you are very lucky! After the incident, I am still stressed with very little sleep at night. I could not believe that my son and I narrowly escaped a tragic accident. It is unfortunate that neither BMW or the Cooper Cobham, warned me of the health and safety risks involved despite bringing this issue to their attention. They dragged things in the name of diagnosis to be carried out. As this was a known fault, they should have straightway made arrangements for my car to be checked and remedied at their expense. This also reminded me of BMWs electrical failure issue which lead to a fatality and made a lot of press (Narayan Gurung case). In this case, BMW was highly criticised for not recalling cars and putting customers lives at risk. It is saddening to know that these big business minded and money motivated people care so less about precious lives of people. I am not allowed to link the article here but if you google Narayan Gurung road death you will find many articles including reporting on Court criticising BMW.I have taken this matter further with BMW. Even after letting them know of the nearly death accident, they are ignoring it and dragging things in the name of diagnosis. The car is with the garage since Thursday and to date they have not carried out any diagnosis. It is extremely unfortunate that BMW is ignoring such a serious matter. There are more to this story including some crucial evidences, which I am keeping hold of at the moment as I may have to take the matter legally if BMW continues to ignore me despite the seriousness of the matter. But if you are in similar situation, please get in touch as I am happy to share those with you. I am not a car savvy but I have done a lot of research after I found out about manufacturing fault with my car which I use to meet my day to day needs. I am uploading this here so that people are aware of this and am pretty sure there are other BMW users in similar or same situation. I am a person who stand for justice and I am not going to leave it like this. I will keep you all updated of BMWs response to this issue and whether they resolve this at their cost.

I bought a certified pre-owned 2007 X3 in 2009, which luckily means I have a warranty till 2013. When I bought it in May 2009, it had the service engine light on and dealer tells me its due service and will do it the week after. Ever since, the light keeps coming up every 2 months, and the dealer takes a week to do something. Then he tells me that they do whatever BMW tells them to do and gives it back saying that the problem has been resolved. So far, I have had at least ten such trips. The last two trips are taking much longer. The last trip took 19 days about month and half ago. I went in again on Nov 28th and it is still being looked at. The dealer has provided me a loaner car so I dont have a major hassle as a result. But it is amazing that this supposedly superior engineering company cannot figure out after so many tries why the stupid light comes on. Can any one really trust their advanced systems like iDrive and so on to actually work? Is BMW more of a superior marketing engine as opposed to a superior engineering company? The evidence suggests that they are definitely a superior marketing company.

I was told by an honest employee at BMW in GA that all plastic on the newer BMWs are recycled and sprayed on. I am now getting peeling plastic all over the inside of my car (2006 BMW 330i). My outside passenger lower panel is coming off because the screws are plastic and cheap and cant hold the panel, so the panel is falling off. My back window regulator which, again, is made of plastic, wont let me roll up my window. Once the window is down, its broken! It wont go back up!I hate BMWs. Like one mechanic told me, BMW has built these cars to break down. They dont want you getting 200,000 or 300,000 miles on them, any longer. They want them to be problematic so you take the car back to BMW for them to rip you off and say to hell with it, Ill buy another BMW! BMW is getting greedy, and they need to die a slow death. My wife and I have 2 vehicles. A 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander with 130k miles and a 2007 Ford Edge with 128k miles. We decided to buy a certified pre-owned 2010 BMW X5 with 64k miles on it in March of 2016. Over the last 9 months, we have only put 6k miles on this vehicle and it has been serviced numerous times. We bought an Elite Plus, 2 year warranty. When we do drive this car, we baby it. This past week, we backed it out of the garage and instantly heard the engine fan going at max speed. About a mile later, warning messages came on to drive the car moderately and then to pull over and turn it off. Said the engine temperature was too high. We had it towed into BMW and after reading BMW forums, the exact same problem had happened to many X5 owners. The fix was nearly all the same: Failed electric water pump requiring replacement along with thermostat. Most people had their vehicles fixed for $1400 or less. Local BMW dealer said we not only need to replace the water pump and thermostat, but also coolant hoses, need a coolant flush and the reservoir replaced. $3500 in cost. My warranty is only good for $800 contribution to this problem. I was amazed at the vast number of BMW owners reporting on this problem at 60-70k miles for the exact same issue. One would think there would be a recall on this, but no. I bought a BMW for the Ultimate Driving Machine experience and had heard of its reputation as a reliable vehicle. 2016 has been a disaster for this vehicle and I am not only disenchanted with the need to replace the water pump and thermostat, but I also feel like the BMW dealer is trying to bilk me by replacing coolant hoses and the reservoir when I dont even have a leak problem.

I owned a 2000 BMW 323ci coupe that I purchased back in 2004. The car had only 13,000 miles on it and was optioned with every accessory available. I purchased the car from a private seller for $21,000 which I though was a steal since the car cost $43,000 new. The car looked flawless and drove as new; it still smelled new inside. I struck a deal and the BMW was mine. I felt as a BMW owner that was above most people now on the road and I changed my driving style to prove that I was now someone to be very envious of because I was to be respected driving a BMW. That claim to fame ended a few months later when the transmission failed on my BMW as I was shifting from reverse to drive. I couldnt believe it! How could this happen to a car with only 20,000 miles on it?!?! And a BMW for that matter. The cost to replace the transmission was $6,000!!!! That stung badly! In the coming years I also experienced very costly repairs ranging from HVAC issues, electrical problems, fuel issues, power steering failure, brake problems, a fractured subframe, cooling problems, Harman Kondom speakers rattling the interior when playing heavy bass music, broken and leaky sunroof, interior trim falling off, squeaks and rattles in seats and dashboard, popping steering wheel, cruise control failure, HID headlight burnout and I rarely drove in the dark, leaky trunk, power window motors failing, front turn signal housings getting wet inside and causing shorts. The cost of repairs on this hunk of junk amounted to over 15,000 dollars!!!!!!! All on a car with less than 100,000 miles! How horrible is that?! I had to sell my precious BMW for a mere $4,000 in 2009. What a piece of junk! Now I know why the original owner sold this crappy car and was driving a new Lexus sedan. I ended up buying a used 2006 Honda Civic Si that has been 100% trouble free and now has 183,000 miles on it. Im still reeling from my horrible BMW experience! I realize now that I was a pretentious fool thinking that driving a BMW was going to make me noticed and important on the road. Boy, was I wrong! DO NOT BUY A BMW!!!

I am the sole owner of a 2007 BMW X-3. I have had my car serviced at South BMW in Miami, FL. I have owned this car continuously since 2007. I was to be a loyal BMW owner until a recent discovery. The right rear motor mount bracket screws (the four bolts broke off), the engine is not sitting properly and the transmission is making a discernible noise. I only drive on city streets and highways. I am not an off-road driver and this vehicle has not been involved in any type of accident. The BMW warranty covered my vehicle to 50,000 miles. I did not purchase the extended warranty (maintenance warranty offered by the dealership) as it covered nothing. I am afraid that the engine will fall out of the vehicle, causing bodily injury or maybe even a fatality. I noticed that you already have one complaint about this same issue. Please help me. I am not asking for you to replace my vehicle, just fix it to where I can drive it again without fear.

I have a 2020 BMW M4 Convertible. My vehicle has 8,000 miles on it and the brakes are warped and shuttering. My horrible BMW dealership (HENDRICKS BMW CHARLESTON) wont cover it because there is a white paper out on it. They said since I dont beat the car up, this will happen to the brakes. They said the M4 is meant to be raced and beat up...so not an everyday driver. I pushed thing up to BMW, and after promising to check on helping out and get back to me in 5 days. I gave them 3 weeks and still no call back, so I called them and found out they will not cover either. If you know how thick the rotors are on an M4, its hard to believe that they are warped after 8,000 miles. This to me is a definitely defect. Bottom line is BMW is not service oriented anymore. What is really funny is I was just in the process of purchasing an X7 for my wife, and immediately cancelled the order. There are plenty of other car manufacturers out there without dealing with this. I will NEVER buy a BMW again. As a side note. BMW was going to charge me 2100 to resurface rotors and replace brake pads. Just terrible when a company that used to be great is worse than Chevrolet. I quit buying Lexus for a 10 year period because of horrible customer service, and how they dealt with me at the end of a lease. BMW is a horrible company for folks that like blowing their money for nothing. I have owned 6 BMWs and this truly is the end of my relationship. They truly arent doing the right thing and Im certainly not going to have a business relationship with a company that doesnt do the right thing or backup their products and looks for ways to get out of support. Re: 2007X3. Many times since, approximately the vehicle had 60K miles, prior to my 100k miles warranty running out, even though I was experiencing problems with my transmission (i.e. not shifting properly, clunking when shifting, noise and jerking when shifting), the Service Dept. told me there was nothing wrong. Now that I have 120k miles on it and my X3 will not go into AWD, I am told by Erhard that my transmission differential needs a $1,400 repair. I have never missed maintenance and at the last maintenance, I was complaining about my transmission.I would like my transmission problem fixed at no cost to me. It seems BMW, blew me off to get me through until my warranty was up (extended to 100k that I paid for). Very disappointing and too costly for me. I bought a 2009 BMW X5 4.8i V8 from my son-in-law who bought it new. The car had 37,000 miles on it when I bought it and now has 87,000 miles. Half of the mileage has been on 1000 mile trips. The car has been well maintained with all recommended services throughout the period. My wife and I are over 70 and do not drive the car aggressively. Here is my repair experience with this car. All but the first occurred after the 50,000 mile warranty expired: Air conditioner hose connection leaked refrigerant -- replaced hose. Headlight washer nozzle dropped off -- replaced nozzle. Plastic water overflow tank seam separated -- replaced tank. Vacuum pump leaked -- replaced vacuum pump. Oil leaked through several front engine seals and valve covers -- replaced seals. Burnt oil of 1 quart per thousand miles, through valve seals -- replaced valve seals. Vacuum leak through fuel pump activating engine/emission light -- replaced fuel pump. Total cost for these repairs was around $15,000 over 3 years. All of the repairs were done at BMW dealerships. (This, of course, was over and above normal maintenance like oil changes, adding oil, alignments, tires, brake pads, inspections, etc.) Fortunately, I had third party extended warranty coverage. The dealership mechanics told me these problems are common with BMW V8 engines. There are several reports on the web of these same problems. While BMW touts their engineering, they obviously dont engineer seals that lasts 100,000 miles. If you are considering a used BMW V8, count on $3,000 to $5,000 in repairs a year plus typical maintenance. By the way, I generally keep a car for 200,000 miles or more. The BMW is the priciest car I have owned. It also has had more repairs up to now than any of my other cars throughout their 200,000 mile life history. The car is a nice car to drive. However, given my experience, I cannot recommend a BMW. The problems I experienced had nothing to do with the the sophistication of the design. They were all basic part failures!

We called BMW for 2011 X5 about problems almost every month with engine sign and more. BMWs answer was You didnt buy new BMW and you have 40k miles already so we cannot do anything, sorry. I asked Mr. ** for supervisor, he said, My supervisor (**) will tell you same thing & refused to transfer or provide her contact info. Anyway, we have numerous repairs done under warranty in last 2 years and ongoing... We have driven BMWs for over 20 years & now I can say very clearly Dont get heavy scrap with overloaded, computerized, constantly failing components with BMWs policy to keep making service money without caring for customers at all. In 2014 we owned BMW 2011 X5, 2001 740iL, 2008 335i, 2005 325xi, 2003 X5 & 2003 M3.

This has been the worst car I ever purchased (2000 BMW 323ci). The water pump has been replaced three times in five years. This is so unacceptable for a so-called “world-class” automobile. Every imaginable problem that could go wrong with this car, I have experienced… of course the standard… brake pads, clutch, hoses, etc. Those things are to be expected after a certain length of time. However, the same part ... You asked yourself, “Is it the mechanic? Was it the part?” Well, on 2 occasions, repairs were BMW authorized. Three were actual BMW dealerships. This car has cost me more than my sons college education, however, to BMW North Americas credit. I had a lovely lady named Medidah to help me with my sensor board. I had to pay labor which was ok; at least, someone cared and assisted. I wish I could afford another car, which I cant unfortunately. This car is paid off. My first new car (ever) I purchased. I was so happy to save money. I ordered exactly what I wanted. I paid it off in 3 years. Next car will be my Honda or Toyota, which I have owned previously. Both were great, inexpensive to maintain, and lasted long time. I shall never, ever purchase another BMW, even if I do love the x5 :(

I own a 2007 335i, which I purchased from BMW dealer, and always had it serviced by a BMW dealer. Around 35,000 miles I began having repeated problems with oil leaks, the service engine light would constantly come on and the engine wasnt performing properly. I was told that the codes just needed to be reset and that the problems were fixed. A few days later the check service engine light came on again. I went back to the dealership and was told it was the code for the fuel pump plausibility and all they had to do was to reset it with the software and it would be fine.A week later the same thing happened. This time around I asked them to take a look at the issue. I once again was told that the problem was fixed and that the codes just needed to be reset. The check engine light would come on regularly and I was always told the same thing - that it was due to the software update but the car had no issues.I took my car in to the dealership right before 50,000 miles and before the warranty expired to have an oil change and at that time I was told that the car had an oil leak and the fuel pump had to be replaced. They replaced it and reset the codes once again. I explained the car was not driving properly, as it would jolt and it wouldnt accelerate. The service rep said he would check on that and make the necessary repairs. I left the dealership and on my way home the service engine light came on once again. I went back to the dealership and was told they needed to reset the codes again.A few months later, I noticed the car was leaking oil and the engine was not running properly. The service engine light was also back on. I took it to the dealership and was told it was the fuel pump, and there was a problem with the turbochargers and engine. I was told it would not be covered under the warranty as the warranty had just expired. I had them do them complete the repairs as it was necessary. In less than 24 months, Ive had to have the fuel pump and oil gaskets replaced three times. The car went into limp mode as I was driving on a busy intersection and just turned off in the middle of traffic, putting my life as well as other drivers lives in danger. I was struck from behind by a van because the driver didnt anticipate me just stopping without warning. This a huge safety issue and BMW needs to be held accountable for withholding this information from customers. I had to have my car towed to the dealership and they refuse to warranty the defective items.I called BMW North America and spoke Leah in Customer Affairs and she informed me that it was up to the dealership if they wanted to apply the warranty or not. She said it is not up to the corporate office to make those decisions. I also demanded a copy of all my service maintenance records from the BMW dealership where I had the car serviced and they refused to provide them to me.I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Ross at BMW corporate office. I told him I wanted a copy of all my maintenance records from the SM BMW dealership emailed to me, as I couldnt go there in person but needed to the records to show proof that I had the fuel pump repaired numerous times. He told me he called over to the dealership and requested the records but they refused to email them to me and proceeded to say that they dont have to give me those records.I was beyond appalled that I would be treated that way, after all I had been through given they sold me a product with a manufacturers defect. I explained that the dealership was charging me over $5,500 for the fuel pump and oil gasket repair, yet I had already paid over $8,000 to have it repaired numerous times. The dealership refused to warranty the defective items. I am beyond disgusted with their lies, fraudulent practices and their sheer incompetence. Ive decided to retain legal counsel at this point.

This is the biggest bait and switch I have ever encountered. Purchased a new BMW 435i convertible. They sold me the upgraded Bluetooth so my smartphone would work on the screen and charge through the cradle built inside the console. However, they never told me the iPhone is an incompatible device. Now they wont refund my $500 nor fix the problem. They tell me to plug in the charge cord to the cigarette lighter. How dumb!

My 2006 BMW 325i passenger seat sensor failure causes SRS (airbag system) light on dashboard to remain on. There exists a recall for this known manufacturing defect (National Highway Safety Administration Campaign 08V384000), which results in disabling the passenger airbag. This caused me to fail the annual inspection with only one option to pass, which will cost over $1000. Although this recall exists for my model and year, BMW USA claims my VIN is not part of the recall, in spite of the fact that my car presents this hazard.

They holding my BMW X5 car over 1 month because there is recall from BMW, and they dont have spare parts, and there is no estimate date for repairing. They just saying sit and wait, no complaining, no compensation for them, they just want to you wait, and do nothing. Even they dont offer BMW car, they offer other makes, which is not equal my car. And worst thing about BMW they pretending to be good company, which is totally lie, and their main priority is customer safe, totally lie. If your main priority was customers safe why did you sell millions cars this public and they put peoples lives in danger, and they dont want to compensate it. Personally I never ever get BMW again, and wouldnt recommend anybody either, they selling not secure cars this public and dont want to compensate it. Stay away from BMW. Honestly.

I bought a brand new 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe xDrive which cost me $104K. After driving my car 13k miles, I got an oil change from a non BMW repair center which is okay according to BMW. The shop was not able to take off the service light when it turned on at 15k miles. They told me its not a problem because I already got the oil change; I should take it to BMW to take the service light off. Within five days, my car shut down and I got it towed to BMW of Bayside. When I took it to BMW of Bayside, they automatically declined my service because I never took the car for an oil change at a BMW dealer and told me I owe $18,500 for a new engine. I spoke to the service manager and I told him I had a valid receipt for repair. He was quick to answer, It doesnt matter to me. Your cars warranty is void. I quickly reached out to BMW of NA and going back and forth, they asked to see the receipt just to waste my time for two months. Now BMW of Bayside and BMW NA does not want to give me information or a reason why they arent covering me especially after BMW of Bayside told me when they received the car, it had only 4.5 quarts in the car and only 3500 miles over the normal 15000 miles per oil change limit, which should be enough to drive it even if I didnt get an oil change. Im now in the position of not paying for my car and leaving it in the shop. I will burn my credit before I shell out $28k for a warranty item!

How many of you guys have had to replace your door handles on your BMW X5 from the year 2005 to 2008? How many of you had to replace your windows and how many times have you had to do it? Theres a defect - very very bad defective thing in their door handles to the point where they will break and you cannot get in or out of your vehicle. Also with the windows they will fall all the way into your car like theyre not like its not heavy enough to hold it. Okay its a shame that all of us have had to go through this and we repair it and we dont ever do anything about it. If I would have known that I wouldnt have purchased it. I cant get in my car from the outside at all without going through a window after breaking my car every time I want to drive it. Its a BMW X5 2005. Thats a shame. Should no luxury vehicle have a handle broke on a car. Ive never met or seen a car that had a broken door handle or is that the windows just fall down into it like the wires are not heavy enough. But BMW does not want to admit that its a defect. I dont know why theres no class action lawsuit but I will warn you do not buy yourself a BMW X5. The handles will break and you will repair them all of them. You will not be able to get into your car okay. Dont even do it. Its not even worth it their alternators. The car goes through alternators like its going out of style. Every time you turn around youll be buying a new alternator because the oil sticks into the alternator. These BMWs are highly defective mostly all of them. I dont know nobody who hasnt repaired a door handle. Do not buy one of these.

I own a 650I, bought it from BMW dealer, always had it serviced by BMW dealer. At around 80,000 miles after having repeated problems with transmission, I was told I needed a new transmission and it was not covered by warranty. Also was told I need engine rebuilt! And also out of warranty! This car cost over $100,000, what type of valve stem guides do they use that they wear out at such low miles, not to mention a transmission, both items last longer on a $30,000 Honda... How pathetic!I spoke with BMW North America. They refused to warranty the defective items, and if one would check the new engines in BMWs, they would find most are burning oil very prematurely because the new engine design is built with sub par parts... This is a car costing over $100,000.00. I am disgusted with this horrible excuse of a luxury vehicle and more so the haughty attitude of BMW. One more thing, the dealer I was using Checkered Flag is horrible. They returned my car after a service, 4 quarts low on oil. When I called them, they said the oil sensor was faulty, when actually it was their lazy and inept service approach. I have engaged the services of a lawyer on this one!

My name is Anura, and Im from Chino Hills, California. Exactly 1 (one) week after my 72 months/100,000 miles warranty on my BMW 745 Lis was expired, I started to experience series of expensive car repairs. First, it got overheated and smoke started coming out of engine without a prior warning, after driving to Long Beach, California, just 45 miles with my family. I had to change all the plans and have it towed to my mechanic. It ended up costing me nearly $2,600 worth of repair work before getting the car back. A month or so later my transmission started slipping. This cost me another $3,100. 6 months later, I took it in to have it checked for serious oil and coolant leak problems. They had to change the valve cover gasket, coolant sensor and some coolant hoses, costing me another $3,600. Now Im having a serious smoking (out of tail pipe) problem, which will not make it pass the smog test. I got an estimate of $3,600 to fix that problem. Additionally, I have all kinds of flashing warning lights on the dash board. I hate to admit, if I want to go somewhere without having to worry about breaking down on the way, I wouldnt dare take my luxury BMW 745 Li, but rather my back up pick up truck Nissan Frontier. I intend to file a Lemon on this. If anyone has any advice or tips, please contact me at **. Thanks.

BMW is not fixing my vehicle under full manufacturer warranty. I was told by a customer service representatives that there will be no fix to the issue below and mainly the safety seat belt issue. The management at the BMW of North America is ignoring my request to speak with them about any resolution. They are holding my vehicle until the warranty expires in 40 days so they can kick my vehicle out of their shop. I have a loaner vehicle with an expired tag from weeks and I have received 5 tickets for it so far. Critz BMW dealership finally give me a sticker after many complaints.Fuel injectors failed first after a month of purchasing this vehicle and failed again after six months both times my vehicle was the dealership from 4 days to 6 days. Appointment is made for the third time and BMW is holding my vehicle from almost 28 days now at the Critz BMW dealership in Savannah, GA and they will be still holding it until two more weeks since they can’t fix the issue.Seat belt Malfunction for Passenger side not fixed after many complaints from six months and BMW is holding my vehicle from almost 28 days now and they will be holding it until two more weeks since they can’t fix the issue. The dealership is telling me that they are trying to find a way to replace the sensor under the passenger seat but BMW of North America is telling me that they can’t duplicate they issue. I can’t have a passenger or my wife in my car due to the seat belt safety issue. I told BMW USA that I will be holding them responsible for any safety issue to someone’s life due to the seat belt issue that BMW USA is not fixing and their reply was “We can’t do anything about it.”The Car is vibrating at 40MPH. BMW found Irregular tire wear on the front tires.. But I have a full warranty on all tires with BMW that I have purchased since I bought this vehicle from BMW, the warranty is based on all the road hazards and the cause of the vibration is road hazards and BMW is not replacing the tires. I have found someone else is insurance and registration in my car, someone from the Critz BMW dealership was driving my vehicle for private use since I saw the change in mileage and evidence of someone’s insurance and registration information.Engine makes big noise at the start after parked for 8 hrs or more. The backup camera is stop working sometimes and the navigation is loading slowly. It’s been six months or more that I am in contact with BMW of North America and the customer service department at BMW of North America along with their managements are ignoring the whole situation and are holding my vehicle hostage at the Critz BMW in Savannah, GA 31401 since FEB 12/2015 until the Manufacturer warranty expires in some 40 days. BMW of North America is telling me that they can’t duplicate the issue and they can’t fix it but not sure why they are holding my vehicle with them. They give me a longer vehicle with an expired Tag which I received 5 tickets so far but Critz BMW told me that they will be paying for it but I have to deal with all the frustrations. I reached out to BBB and at first they accept my case but later denied it after they contacted BMW of North America. The representative from BMW of North America told me over the phone in a sarcastic way that “Your case is denied from BBB and you have no case against us.” I contacted State of Georgia Governor’s office but no reply from them and I have also reached out to the Department of Highway safety for the seatbelt safety issue and no reply from them as will. I searched for an attorney to file a Georgia Lemon law case for me but attorneys told me that I have no case since my vehicle have 36500 Miles on it even though it’s still under full manufacturer warranty.
