2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo Signature AWD Review & Test Drive

Mazda’s are known for their sporty traits, and such has been instilled in the CX-5 compact crossover from the brand. The unique style and attitude of the Mazda CX-5 has won many owners over, and the new 2022 model year brings a few updates starting with all trims now having all-wheel-drive as standard, the front and rear exterior gets minor styling updates, and the suspension system is slightly revised for a sportier feeling that I experienced during my week with the sporty crossover.
In its second generation, the 2022 Mazda CX-5 remains a respected contender in a crossover space that has become quite competitive over the past few years. Receiving a more powerful engine for the upper-level trims during the 2020 model year elevated the CX-5’s standing among the competition. The more powerful engine in the revised two top trims, the 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Signature, is a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque using premium fuel. If you ever use regular fuel the engine output is decreased to about 227 horsepower. The power is slightly up from previous years of using the top-trim engine adding about 6 horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque, which does well for the sporty character of the CX-5.

The engine is still mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission but does well with the gearing due to the engine having plentiful power throughout the RPM band. The ample torque of the engine is what I enjoy where there isn’t any noticeable turbo lag out of the hole and the engine carries through each gear with a substantial initial grunt to get the vehicle up to speed. Where the new 2022 Mazda CX-5 may turn some people off is through its latest suspension tuning where it resides more on the sporty size and the dampers and springs are a bit too stiff for my liking even though I enjoy a sporty-riding vehicle. Here, the suspension could have been a bit softer as there is some unwanted body bounciness from the stiff setup that may do well for Mazda brand loyalists but doesn’t move the needle for attracting buyers who want the decent power but not sacrifice overall ride quality.
Zero to 60 mph takes place in about 6.1 seconds making the 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo Signature. At times the Mazda CX-5 may feel faster than it really is but there’s still a respected level of performance over most of its direct competition that’s appreciated.
Fuel consumption is slightly down from competition, but you have to consider the extra power of the new 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo trims, which you can’t find in any direct competitors. I did notice a consistent fuel mileage easily matching the EPA estimated 22 mpg city and 27 mpg highway figures. EPA estimates combined is 24 mpg.
To match the sporty attitude of the new CX-5 2.5 Turbo Signature is a sporty interior that has a welcoming premium feel and attention to detail throughout. There’s a decent amount of soft-touch surfaces on the dashboard with an overall near-luxury feel. The accented colors of my test vehicle are also welcomed to fit the sporty theme. The only issue I find in the cabin is that the otherwise simplistic infotainment unit does not have a touchscreen feature but instead leaves you to use the central controller to navigate and control the system. Also, the audio system control sets and features can be a bit cumbersome to use as it sends you through what I think is an unnecessary learning curve. Such an issue could have been easily solved by allowing the screen to be a touchscreen unit, which it has been a few years ago allowing a touchscreen function when the vehicle is stopped.
The updated styling, revised suspension, and updated trim levels do well to keep things simple and… sporty – just the way Mazda intended and is well known for in all their vehicles. The pricing of the new 2022 Mazda CX-5 remains competitive but rises a few grand for the top two trims that include the more powerful engine starting at $36,400 for the 2.5 Turbo trim and $38,650 for the 2.5 Turbo Signature trim of my test vehicle.

The Mazda CX9 (2008) has 51,000 miles only. An oil leak was noticed the summer of 2011. After several days, the dealer diagnosed it as a rear main seal failure. The dealer replaced the seal (having the car for close to two weeks). The car continued to leak oil this fall (2011). The dealer contacted Mazda’s headquarters and they recommended replacing the transmission, which the dealer did. The vehicle continued to leak oil during the winter/spring of 2012. The dealer claims it is the rear main seal (dealer currently have had the vehicle for 1 week). Wouldnt the main seal have been replaced with the new transmission? Other issues include two sets of breaks, tie rod, electrical overhaul, and vacuum hose problem.

The 05 Mazda 6 Mazda transmission valve body failed at 28000 miles. Mazda knew about the problem back in 2006 and have not informed the owners so the part can be replaced under warranty. Now, they rejected a request for help; and the local dealer, Colonial Mazda, wanted $1400 for the parts and $400 to install it. I was able to get the part from another Mazda dealer at $1000 by mail. Now, Colonial Mazda refuse to install the part. What a joke - a bad design followed by bad service and a company that does not stand behind their products. In addition, they think people are stupid to pay 40% more on a part that Mazda should be responsible to replace.

This is about my second consecutive Mazda sedan I have owned. After I was notified of the recent recall of the passenger side inflator on my 2012 Mazda 6 I wanted to also have the drivers side one replaced, at my expense, and when it was later recalled (as it most likely would be), I wanted to be reimbursed for whatever my cost was. I first presented this request to the dealership who told me the cost would be around $700, because they said the inflator part alone could not be replaced. Because I am willing to pay this amount I then contacted Mazda Corporate Customer Experience where I was told Mazda could not promise any reimbursement but would “review” such request.Finally, I contacted two executives at the Corporation with this request. My last request to one of them was made by letter mailed by certified mail. Although the letter mailing was verified received by USPS, it has now been some 3 months and I have not received any reply and I dont expect to. My Opinion: This clearly shows me: MAZDA DOESN’T EVEN CARE ENOUGH ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS TO EVEN RESPOND TO THEM IN THIS SITUATION. This experience has now cemented my decision to never purchase another Mazda again. I probably should not have purchased this one because I had a problem with the moonroof not always closing on the last one that was only fixed because a friend of mine knew someone at Mazda that I was able to connect with who got the problem finally fixed after my having taken the car to the dealership numerous times and told they “had to replicate the problem” before it could be fixed.

I bought a brand new CX5 in Soul Red in May, 2014. After normal driving in summer road conditions, have already noticed 2 chips in the hood paint. I turned in a 2008 Honda CRV with almost 100K miles on it and had no such paint chipping. I was told the paint wasnt under warranty and tough luck. Very disappointed and can only imagine how terrible my brand new car will look after a winter and road salt hacking away at the paint. I have never owned a car with such an issue and now see many complaints with regards to Mazda paint.

My daughter bought a new crv from Mazda, the car doesnt even have 70,000 miles on it now. Well there is an engineering screw up that Mazda knew about it, and put the part on it anyway, knowing the part was a screw up, and refuses to repair it at their cost. The vvt solenoid should be replaced because they knew all about it. Its really a crying shame that they have screwed over so many people. There should be a recall on this, but I guess they are sweeping it under the rug. Its going to cost about $2,000 to repair this vehicle. My daughter has 3 children and cannot afford this. She brought her vehicle to a Mazda dealership in Baton Rouge, La. To be fixed, Mazda did agree to pay only $500.00 of the repairs. Her vehicle sat at Mazda for 5 damn weeks and they never worked on it. They said they would try and squeeze her vehicle in, and even though she was going to have to pay the remaining balance which is 1,500, they still never fixed a Damn thing! So she went and picked it up and all they did was hand her the keys and said nothing. I Would never purchase a MAZDA vehicle ever! Mazda should be brought Up on charges and held responsible for Their negligence.

I cannot keep a battery charged. New alternator, new radiator. Thanks to alternator, new battery, new radio, new tires, etc. Money in it and still cant keep it charged. Does anyone know why this may be happening? I love the car (2010 Mazda CX9) but am fed up with it not running when I need it. Something is pulling battery down when it is parked in my garage overnight. Any help would be appreciated everyone if baffled at what is causing this. Cant trade it off. Just bought 6 months ago and have problem ever since. Owe too much to trade now. Help.

I leased a Mazda 3, hatchback in August 2016. At my 10k servicing at the dealership, they indicated unusual wearing of tires. I asked for them to be replaced. They said no, it was a limited warranty on the tire. At 15k servicing, the same conversation. At 20k, the same conversation. Found out these tires on a new car, have no mileage warranty... at all. The dealership will not replace the tires. At 32 months of the lease and 22,700 miles they will do nothing. I like the car, but not the tires, and Mazda will do nothing, as the dealership watches a customer complain, and knows it is a problem. Others have complained about the same thing. I would not purchase or lease another auto from Mazda, or Groove Mazda, in Centennial. Really poor support of a customer. Not what anyone wants.

I bought a new 2011 Mazda CX-9 in January 2011. A few weeks ago, the bottom of my truck caught on fire after I heard a loud noise at a red light. Fast forward to today: it seems my transfer case blew, causing my transmission to blow and therefore causing the fire. There are no previous issues with the truck, no lights signaling an issue with the truck, nothing. Mazdas response? Well, Im under warranty, so its fully covered. Great, so can one get an explanation as to why a two-year-old vehicle would just catch on fire??? Nope, nothing, not from the dealership nor Mazda. In doing research, theres a nationwide reoccurring problem with transfer cases, and even a pending class action suit. Mazdas response? Nothing. Dodge my phone calls and emails, and dont even contact back my lawyer. Its disgusting how were the very people that gave them jobs, but the moment that a family is put in harm, they could care less. Most disgusting company I have ever come across. Mazda - you should be ashamed as to how you treat the very people that give you the opportunity to make a living. Simply disgusting!!!

I have had to replace my brakes and rotors twice on my 2009 Mazda 6. The first time I replaced the brakes and rotors, the car had 23,180 miles. Mazda did not admit fault, but basically covered this up by good willing my rotors and only charging me an inflated price for the brake pads and rotors. I had to replace the brakes and rotors a second time at 68,012 miles (36,975 miles after the first time). I filed a formal complaint through Mazdas corporate headquarters and got nowhere. They say its normal. The mechanic who just replaced my brakes and rotors for the second time and has 20 years of experience completely disagrees. I have a string of emails between Mazdas corporate rep and myself that I can provide. Mazda is completely unwilling to do anything and refused to even pass my case along to a supervisor. I am concerned that I will have to continue to absorb the cost for a product defect that Mazda is not willing to admit it happening. I would like to pursue legal action.

Since I bought this car in July of 2012 with 54000 miles, its been an amazingly reliable car. It handles really good, good acceleration and very quick. I average about 40.5 mpg with a good amount of city driving. Its a very easy and fun to drive car. I still have the original tires on it with 79000 miles and still has a little bit of tread left. Im pretty surprised with the tires life, especially being a 45000 miles rated tire. Ive never had an issue or problem with it and I look forward to all the moments Ill have with this car.

Got the Mazda Tribute secondhand really cheap... runs really well... have not had any issues except flat tire and the key not wanting to come out of the ignition. Also, the gear shift sticks but I attribute that to the previous owner letting her kids accidentally spill a soda on it. It has grey color... spacious design... has cruise control that works great. I love any kind of SUV/Crossover... they have so much more room than even a large car... great for trips... modern and sleek design. But I wish it had better quality interior material and design. The car is secondhand and she had kids but they would not have been able to do the damage quite so easily otherwise.

Mazda 5 has suspension problems - I have had shocks redone 3 times in 7 years. I am a single woman not carrying passengers all the time!! Others have the same issues - otherwise a good car. Great car all around but they are discontinuing it - maybe because of the suspension problems. Gas mileage is good if you stay below 110. :)

I just purchased a 2014 Mazda CX5 one month ago - pretty blue in color. I just had to HAVE it! Well, 4 days after getting it...yes, 4 days later, it went into what’s called Crawl mode. I was going 65 mph down the highway when all of a sudden it started slowing down...to 20 mph!! I had a semi-truck barreling down the road towards me...I had to yank my car off the road, slow completely down, then hit my start button 5 times for it to go into emergency shutdown mode. Tried to turn it back on, and nothing!! 5 minutes later, it finally started. Then not even one day later, my key light that says whether the key is in the car or not started coming on. It kept telling me I had no key in the car...yet the car was already on??? **?! So I figured it was just a car error for a onetime thing. OHHH NO! It happened every day, several times a day for the next week and a half. Well then one day, it just so happened to be my sons first day of first grade. I got all three of my children loaded up and went to start my car and NOTHING. Gauges started going haywire, lights were working, but the car was completely dead. Had to have it towed! Come to find out the dealership said it was just a dead battery, but yet it tested to be a good one. Really?!? So they choose not to replace it, and they just recharged it. Well then my key fob started acting up again so I had to take it back to the dealership. They then checked the voltage of the key fob and it was too low, so they replaced the battery and the key fob all together. Well five days later, my key fob started acting up again. At this point I was just pissed off and took it BACK to the dealership and showed them what it was doing and again they couldnt find any record of it. Well, come to find out my computer is not recording anything, not a permanent code, not a temp code, nothing! So I contact Mazda and they tell me to take my car back...for the 5th time, and their own tech personally took my car home to try and reduplicate the issue. While he had my car, he had his own personal animal in the back as there was dog hair everywhere, and someone tried to break into it...slits in the window seal, pried trimming by the window; it was all messed up, but at least he saw my car RPMs sticking...but again, my car was not keeping the codes...AGAIN!!! I told them that this should of been a red flag that something was wrong with the computer. They told me that they couldnt fix anything because they couldnt find a problem wrong with it. Well I got it back on Friday and the following day my BF and I were at a red light and it decided it did not want to shift. My BF had to put the car into the semi auto mode and then back into the auto mode before it would even go forward. Needless to say, I took it back today (Monday) and they refused to take the car back...They decided to sell me another one, an upgraded one, but told me to keep my phone away from the push to start ignition...Uhh...why!?!? Im not happy and I wanted to get away from Mazda altogether, but the only way they were going to take the messed up car back was for them to buy me out from that car, and sell me another one...so hopefully this one works. Not only did I get an upgraded car, but its the same model and then they JACKED my payments up! Never do business with Mazda.

I have a 2008 Mazda 6, 2.3 Sport with 68,000 miles on it. The engine receives regular oil changes and has never been low on oil. Recently the engine started making a knocking sound at about 2500 rpm. The sound got worse and it would appear that I need a new engine at a cost of around $6000. I dont see how this could happen on a product that is less than 4 years old that has received regular maintenance. Mazda is a joke but worse than that is the fact that I have recommended this brand to my father and friends (two of them now own one). I really dont want to invest any more money into this car but it isnt worth any money without being able to drive it.

Purchased a 2014 Mazda CX-5. It has issue with the shifter, which affects the vehicle sensors. This results, in the vehicle sometimes not moving forward whenever it is put into drive. The vehicle instead rolls backwards and it is a safety issue. It also continuously has issue turning off when the vehicle is put into park. They performed service on my vehicle and charged me to change the shifter, which was a faulty shifter that came with the vehicle. I am still having issues to turn the vehicle off and it also continuously drains the battery. The vehicle has safety issues and there are multiple complaints of the issue. Mazda refuses to do a recall. Mazda also refuses to provide its customers with detail report of the safety issues. They conceal information to save themselves from lawsuits, but I have reporting them to NHTSA. And I will be filing another complaint because they refuse to provide detail paperwork for the supposedly repair they did. It will be my first and last Mazda!!

My husband bought me a 1998 Mazda 626 in June. In July I took to car to get a tune up and to see why the check engine light was on. When they hooked the car up to the machine they told me that the the first spark plug was misfiring and that it showed up that the threads from that spark plug was crossed. I took the car back to the dealership and they told me that someone had glued the spark plug and all my mechanic had to do was to wipe the glue off and the do the tune up. So I said okay and took the car back to Mekinee here in Raleigh. Well, they said they werent going to touch the car so I called up the dealership and they said for me to bring the car to them, I said okay. While Im on my way to take them the car, all of sudden the car broke down along the side of the highway. They came and towed the car, so the following day my husband who is in the military came home and we went down to check on the car and thats when they told us that the transmission was gone on the car. This car only has around 100,000 miles on it , now I dont know what to do and the dealership has completely stopped having contact with me and my husband.

When they changed turbo charger, nothing was under warranty. I have spent over $3,000.00. I will never buy this SUV or Mazda again. What a joke. Im easy on this car with 63,000 miles on it. When all **, I cant afford to get rid of it. But when I can look out the world, I will buy one from the USA.

The Mazda CX 5 handles really well, especially in the winter. It is really comfortable to drive and has good fuel economy, and enough room for other people and all of their stuff. It is not too large and easy for me to handle. It was a really good deal compared to what you would pay for other cars in this price and category. However, the center console and screen is a little too small, and it is difficult to use while I am driving. You cant just glance at it and flip the channel. And I would make the seats move a little more, for someone with shorter legs it is hard to reach the pedals.

I had to bring in my car twice for the same issue only to go to a third-party to have it fixed properly. Having said that even more mechanical issues have arisen. When I talk to them they are very condescending and rude. It was shocking at first but after a few times of trying to reason of them I discovered that they do not care about the customer. I recommend not buying a Mazda or dealing with any of them or their associates.

I purchased this new car in 2015 and I have had problems with the transmission. When going from reverse to drive, the car lurches forward without even putting your foot on the gas. Because of it I hit a cement wall and did $6000 damage to the front end. After several trips to the dealer they finally told me that they were aware of the problem and ordered a new part. Well it is doing it again. I park in a parking ramp and I have to maneuver to get parked. Last week the car lurched forward again and did damage to the car again. Now back to the dealer and I am sure they will once again tell me I dont know how to drive. Parking attendants have had the same issue and hit a planter when the car lurched forward. I regret the day I ever purchased this vehicle. I just do NOT want to own it anymore because it is not safe.

Also fits nicely into our very tiny one-car garage, which is a definite plus. I choose it because the storage area could hold all of the items I knew I would need to carry there, which was the main reason was shopping for a new vehicle. But I dislike that there is only one keylock, on the drivers door. To open any of the other doors, must first open driver door, then use inside controls to open rest of doors.

I went into Mazda back in March 2019 to test the CX-5, after driving it around and listening all the great features I started to become more and more interested in the vehicle. Zakou, my sales rep tried to get me the best deal. I explained to him I still had 3 more months left on my previous lease but he assured me it wouldnt be an issue because Mazda would take care of the remaining balance (which by the way, was written in the contract and stated in all the paperwork signed by them and myself).Well, to cut the story short, its been almost three months since I switched to Mazda, my previous lease hasnt been paid off yet although they took the vehicle from me, I have been CONSTANTLY reaching out to my sales rep, calling the store, asking for a manager, financial manager, ANYONE that could help me out and all I get is: I will find out what is going on and I will reach out to you but I never hear back from anyone, and the manager seems to never be available. The only person I was able to talk to was the manager for used cars who obviously had no idea what I was talking about and also promised to call back, but I am still waiting for that call - one week later-.I have sent copies of the letters from my previous car dealership regarding the missed payments and how this was reported to the credit bureaus damaging my credit and all Zakou (the sales rep) would say is that he passed it on to his managers. When I asked which manager so I could follow up he would say I could just call and ask for one and they would all know what I was talking about, which again, LIES, because not once was I able to get a hold of a manager, they seemed to NEVER be there, and when I would reach out to Zakou again, hed tell me the same thing making me even more upset at the fact that I was not getting any concrete answers.The last thing I was told by my sales rep was for me to pay the balance and bring them a cancelled check for a refund which at this point I refuse because that is not what I agreed on, and if I wouldve known that from the beginning I would have just waited out the three months so I wouldnt be stuck with two lease payments!! It is safe to say, this has been by FAR the worse experience with a dealership that has failed tremendously with their customer service. Their lack of attention or interest in my situation has made my experience so sour, if it wasnt for my contract I would have returned the vehicle already so I wouldnt have to deal with them.

Comfortable and classy. Plenty of storage room in the trunk and all of the controls are easy to use and understand. Only complaint is that the controls on the levers behind the steering wheel can’t be seen in the dark.

Luckily, the dealer replaced it at no cost even though I bought as is, but then 3 days later it went bad again. Two months later, the alternator belt snapped and to replace, you have to remove the wheel well and loosen the alternator to get on. It took about 6 hours only to have it snap again after 50 miles. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the belt again, but over torque the tension rod so now every about 1500 miles, I have to tighten it up or it loosens, squeals and smokes, and chunks of the belt come out. The transmission slips and shifts hard frequently. And now the coolant system is leaking and while I was attempting to isolate the leak, the window popped out of its roller. I understand every car has its problems, but I’ve only had this junk heap for a few years and am blown away by the frequency of problems. It would seem that all post Ford buyout Mazdas are lemons and I recommend avoiding them.

The cx9 blind spot monitor, air conditioner, window motor, front and rear window motors. The cx 7 problems with the same problems. Windows front cannot close. Front door driver side lock came off. Right front passenger door lock messed up, it cannot be opened. Rear right window cannot go up. My cx9 has 46.000K miles 8 years old and the cx7 just turned 60.000K 7 years old.I was told that it is normal for those repairs to occur. Thats ** ! We have bought cars brand new cars from Nissan, Infiniti, Mitsubishi Motors and we never had any problems with these cars like what we are having with our Mazda cars. Infiniti, Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors we drove them to their limit and all we did was oil change and maintenance tire change. Think 4 times before you decide to buy a Mazda.

On January 20, I received a letter from Mazda Corporate due to certain issues with certain vehicles, including mine. From my understanding, the timing chain on certain models had turned out to be defective and this would extend the warranty for that specific part and problems caused by it to 70,000 miles. The letter advised that if the consumer experiences a ticking noise, they need to contact the closest Mazda Dealership. Never experiencing any problems, as mentioned above, I got curious and did some research which led me to find out that this problem had affected many so I decided to schedule an appointment for Friday, February 3, to which I never made it to.About a week after receiving the letter, my Mazdas engine failed at 67,000 miles. I was stuck under pouring, cold rain trying to push it off the road. After getting it towed to the North Penn Mazda Dealership, I was notified the following morning that my vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. I researched it and came to the conclusion that the connecting rod between the crank shaft and the piston has broken causing it to go through the engine block and make a hole.The Mazda technician that inspected it told me that the failure most likely was not related to the timing chain but to make an accurate statement, they would need to open up the engine for which I would have to pay $800.00 to $1,000.00. I opened a case file with the corporate, which after contacting the dealership, told me that since the damage most likely is not related to the timing chain, Mazda was not liable regardless the fact that the source of the problem was not diagnosed.After getting many opinions from other technicians, I came to the conclusion that there is nothing that I, as a responsible consumer, could have done to prevent this from happening and that the engine was most likely poorly manufactured. I looked more in this matter and with simple sources of research I found out that there had been numerous similar cases throughout North America. With that in mind, I contacted the Service Manager at the Mazda Dealership seeking for help but I was shut down with two words out of warranty.The service manager told me that he understands my frustration and that when one purchases a $25,000 vehicle they expect to get more than 67,000 miles out of it, however, there was nothing he could do after contacting his corporate representative. After sending many emails I received a response from Mazda customer service explaining that if I did authorize the diagnosis and it resulted to show manufacturing defect, Mazda would cover the expenses to fix the damage. I called to confirm the email and after investigating the case, a gentleman from the customer service department left me a voice mail confirming the information.The following day I received another call from customer service stating that Mazda would not honor the statement made on the email and that no assistance will be offered. I requested to speak to a manager who got back to me two days later. Mr. G stated that Mazda will not offer any assistance of any form regardless the outcome of the diagnosis and the email sent did not imply what it stated.Meanwhile my technician had diagnosed the issue and had concluded that the damage was caused by bad assembly, poorly put together and that should be covered by the manufacturer. The conclusion, if I want to be able to drive this car again, I will need $6,000.00 plus taxes to replace the engine which I had no fault and no contribution in breaking.

I have an 2007 Mazda B2300 truck which I bought in July 2010. On January 28, 2012, I noticed a leak coming from the differential. I immediately called the two Mazda dealerships closest to me, but being a Saturday, neither would take me that day. I had to get somebody to at least look at this, so I ended up at a Meineke shop, which Id been going to for several years. Leak turned out to be the pinion seal which I had them fixed. The following Thursday, I had to bring it back to Meineke, because the differential was making whining noise. Meineke offered to do the warranty work, and I agreed. I put a claim into Mazdas service contract. They then dragged their feet and called on a third party adjuster to come and look at the damage. After a week of the truck up in the air on Meinekes rack, per lack of communication with Mazdas warranty people, I had to OK Meineke to open up the differential, etc. It turned out the main bearing had gone bad. This adjuster decided I was at fault for not maintaining it and also that the shop was at fault for not tightening the pinion nut tight enough on their former pinion seal job. This was all a bogus excuse though. Nowhere is there any maintenance schedule for the differential in the contract nor in the owners manual. The shop had tightened the pinion nut the first time so hard, they said any harder and it wouldve stripped. Still Mazda denies me coverage based on this adjusters bogus theories. Mechanics say the bearing went bad causing a wobble in the drive shaft which in turn compromised the pinion seal, thus causing the leak. Differential was still running smooth and noiseless, when I discovered the leak and took it in. This then has nothing to do with lack of maintenance running out of oil or the pinion nut not being torqued down properly. I had to pay the shop out of pocket for part of the bill, as they gave me a break. They also paid for a rental car for the week, which also should be covered by Mazda. Local attorneys say this would really be small claims, but now Im searching on where to have papers served to Mazda as they have no real office in California, etc. Meineke shop owner and his mechanics are willing to come to court to give their expert opinion, etc.

Problems with car not starting began long before; however, I was attributing it to flooded engine. However at 13K miles, seven months ago, it turned out to be faulty transmission range sensor switch inhibitor (part# **). A few days ago while on vacation, the same part failed again and we got stuck some 400 miles away from home. According to dealership mechanic after he spoke with Mazda tech support, this is a known problem; however, Mazda chooses not to address it. This is last the Mazda for me, my family or any of my friends will ever own. And if you want fewer headaches in your life, buy something else.

Purchased my Mazda Tribute S new in 2005. Vehicle is kept in like-new condition in and out. Regular oil changes combined with scheduled maintenance performed. Only well known gasoline is used; vehicle never abused nor in an accident; current mileage: approx. 52,500 miles. Complaint: main cat converter began to fail with severe loss of power as a result. This occurred at approx. 52,000 miles. Had Pre-Cats tested on computer. Results: Pre-Cats showed signs of early failure. There are two Pre-Cats. Bank One is now showing below design efficiency. Evidence of honeycomb fusion has already been seen. I contacted Mazda, California. Was instructed to talk with a Mazda Dealership. Did this. Went to Mazda of Lodi. While there, met with Ownership and Shop Manager. Indicated that Mazda Corporate would require an assessment of the Pre-Cats and would then determine the degree of financial assistance given to me considering the low mileage of the vehicle. I am also a repeat Mazda customer as Ive purchased two Mazdas in the past. In summary, Lodi Mazda refused to accept my vehicle saying it was too old and they did not want to become involved with it as well as stating that Corporate would not pay them anyway. (Is this legal?) I was abashed at their cavalier attitude and attempted to convince them that I had been sent to their Dealership by Corporate; they simply found this humorous. I left with utter frustration. I then called Mazda California and reported the incident. I did receive a follow up call from Mazda wherein they indicated that I should not expect any assistance from them as my vehicle was out of warranty. Frankly, considering the low mileage, I believe Mazda should have at least paid for the Pre-Cats; I did not request any reimbursement for the main Cat. My relationship with Mazda is now over; I will never purchase another Mazda car or SUV. My Tribute is like new so I will invest in new Pre-Cats and bite the bullet. Mazda and Lodi do not want to read my mind. Needless to say, they will not see my truck for service nor for anything else. Responses from fellow Mazda owners are welcome.

Mazda Financial told me to trade the lease in for a new one, I spent 5 hours at Mazda in PBG they wanted to offer me the same car @ 750.00 a month vs the 300.00 I am paying currently as well as 5000. down and trade in the car they are repairing. I have called Mazda corp, Mazda Financial as well as the Mazda dealership for some help with no returned phone. They will NOT give me a loaner car because they only give out loaners for service issues. My current position is I have NO car. No idea when it will be fixed. Paying 300.00 a month for my lease as well as 1500.00 a month for a rental car.

Shes had it to a Mazda garage that told her that she needed new sparks plugs and wires, etc. She herself paid $1,400 to get this fixed (at this time, it was under warranty). The day after she got it home, it did the same exact thing. She took it back to the Mazda garage and then they told her that she needs a new engine, but her warranty had expired a couple days prior to her taking it back in. Now she is due to start her freshman year at college, with an unreliable car unless shed rather use her tuition money for a new engine (I dont think so). Mazda should be embarrassed to allow a young lady to feel unsafe, when she is trying to get an education and better herself. I dont know if there is any other avenue that I can take on this matter and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I called my local dealer (Scott Mazda of Allentown) three times and last call being on Feb.6 2018 and each time I was told that the parts are on backorder. I since forgot about it until today because I had to bring the car in for another common problem that a RECALL should be issued for (flickering lights while breaking) and asked about it again, but unfortunately I was informed that the SSPA9 has expired. I called Mazda customer service and was told that I shouldve brought the car to the dealer and gotten a work order to prove that I had the problem!. I wish someone had told me that the last time I called (Feb. 6 2018). Seems to me like a very convenient way to avoid paying for the repair!!!.

We bought a fully loaded CX5 in 8/14. It was the best decision weve made. Because of my back problems, I need to have a seat thats adjustable as well as an upright position. The CX5 provides that for me. Last summer we drove across the country and depending on my back, I was able to make adjustments to make it very comfortable for when I drove as well as being a passenger. The safety features such as the blind spot monitoring, the rear camera, and the automatic lights and windshield wipers were so helpful when driving. I felt so safe in this car. Mileage was good too, the car still has under 12K and were doing 26.7 mpg total.My only negative is that the rear hatch/door is not power controlled. In a fully loaded car I wouldve expected that, but it was not an option. I do want to note about some of the other reviews here - people need to explain their problems better. Owners also have to be realistic. How one drives a car does affect brakes. Front end Collisions only trigger front air bags (not side ones). Injuries can be caused by not wearing seat belts. And yes, sometimes cars have defects, but tens of thousands of cars are made of a particular model each year. A few will have problems from the get go. This is why many states have lemon laws. But if 5 people report the same problem, this is not a defect. Most likely your car got that 1 in 25,000 bad part. In that situation, if you can definitely prove it was Not your fault, you may get the maker to pay for the repair. But usually you cant, so hope the bill is low - that’s all.

The newer model fog lights were moved to the bumpers; therefore, it was a known issue and Mazda chose to ignore this. 2010 Mazda CX7 GT NAV is outdated; Mazda refused to provide updated software, claiming NAV systems are accessories covered only by a 12 months 12k miles. NAV is standard equipment on GT model, not an accessory. It has poor material and design of smart keys - Mazda refused to replace broken key case at only 8 months old. Mazda Capital Finance bank does not inform buyers of limitation or guidelines, leaving consumers with the short end. They have Great Products (not perfect); however there is no customer support from Mazda North America.

I bought my 2010 Mazda CX-9 Touring AW Drive new. Around 17,000 miles the car started making popping noises at take off and when reversing. We took it to our authorized dealer. They called and said they didnt hear anything, after driving it several times. Drove the car some more and sound got worse. Took it back in and they told me it was my brakes. They changed a cylinder in the brakes but the technician couldnt get the brakes to work after changing it. They had my car over a week. Got the car back and the noise was still happening. I continued to drive it. One night, my husband and I had people flagging us down to stop. We had flames shooting out the back end of the CX-9. The fire department came quickly and put out the fire. Vehicle was towed to dealer. They found the transfer case had leaked out all of its sludgy oil. Mazda corporate technician was brought in to look at the case. It had 27,000 miles and still under warranty. The transfer case was replaced and the dealer had my car another 5 weeks. A warning light came on during the fire or before. Now, at 110,000 miles the car started making a loud whining noise after reaching 40 mph. I took it right in. After 2 weeks of having my car the dealer said it was the transfer case and a wheel bearing. I assumed they were fixing it and 2 weeks passed again. They called and told me it needed a new transmission now, too!! I have to have it fixed but will trade it ASAP!! They have had my car for almost 6 weeks. Called Mazda Corp. and they refused to help at all. They said since one transfer case was replaced by warranty that even if the car was recalled, I couldnt receive another part. I would have to pay out of pocket. Mazda knows there is problem with the transfer cases and knows it can lead to transmission failure but they refuse to recall the vehicles affected!

I contacted the dealership on 7/8 and was informed my warranty expired on 6/14 and I should contact the Mazda Customer Satisfaction number for filing a complaint to see if they would replace my compressor. I contacted 1-800-222-5500 and spoke with Stephanie ** who provided me a file number and informed I needed to have the dealership confirm the issue was the compressor. The dealership confirmed the compressor and belt need replaced. I contacted the Customer Satisfaction number back and the complaint process began. I was notified on 7/15 that Mazda will not provide any financial assistance as it is outside of my warranty period. Considering the low miles on my vehicle, the warranty JUST ran out and there are apparently issues with the air conditioning on my vehicle as there are SEVERAL complaints online, I was very disturbed that a corporation who is supposed to be reputable will not stand behind their vehicle.

We decided to go with Mazda CX7, because we believed it would be a reliable family car that would also be affordable to maintain, and is fuel efficient. We purchased our Mazda at a private dealership and purchased the top coverage warranty since the car was a 2007 model.Earlier this month, my husband took the car to the warranty approved maintenance shop for an oil change, where he was informed by the mechanic that the car needs to be repaired due to VVT damage, and that we cannot drive the car until the part is ordered and repaired. At first we were told that our warranty will cover the repair work, but it will take approximately 2 weeks for the VVT part to come in.It has now been nearly three weeks, and my husband and I still dont have our car back, since the VVT part is on backorder all over North America. We are both working parents of a two and a half year old toddler who needs to be taken to daycare every day. The CX7 is our only car, therefore in the past three weeks; weve had to rely on friends, co-workers and now a rental car to make it to work and our daughters daycare. The rental car is costing us a lot of money, and neither our warranty, nor Mazda is willing to cover the rental car fees. We have no estimate as to when the VVT part will arrive for our Mazda CX7 and no way of getting around. We are financially unable to continue paying for the rental car.Having said all that, I am extremely disappointed and angry with Mazda. It seems that VVT (variable valve timing) part is now a known problem with Mazda CX7, so this is a faulty VVT problem that Mazda is aware of, yet no one we spoke with from Mazda is willing to show any compassion for us. Mazdas response to our problem is simply that since we dont have proof of enough oil changes (weve only had the car for less than a year), and we dont have our extended warranty with Mazda, therefore its not their problem. Ive obviously been mistaken by trusting Mazda for making a reliable car, or showing any social responsibility and compassion to their customers.

My wife and I were in the market for a vehicle the summer of 2011. We had a check from our institution in the back pocket so we went searching. Our search starts with the Toyota Venza (new), and the Infiniti Q35 (pre-owned). We visited approximately 5 dealerships the weekend previous to July 4th, 2011 - a lot of test drives, a lot of negotiations which were close, but not as satisfactory.After not moving the needle as much as we had desired, my wife has an idea to check out the dealership of Mazda in Huntington Beach. We look at the Cx7 & Cx9 (new) and after test driving a few, she decides to look into the Cx7 as she was previously unfamiliar with the vehicle. After mulling options over (blank check was good for up to 40k in financing, 4.1 APR) she decides to purchase the Mazda (24,900). We select a model, which has 13 miles on it - and though others (Venza, Infinity) were her chief desire, she believes that the decision was a good, more economical one. We (she) purchases the vehicle July 4th, 2011.One month in, the front driver tire blows out on the 55 freeway in Costa Mesa. The car is driven to the dealer the next day - to have a tire placed on. The price was surely surprise surprise - $250.00. We push to know why the tire was so expensive, its because the size is new for this size vehicle and theres one maker of the tire. Bridgestone. We pay for it begrudgingly, and go about our way.Fast forward to February 6th, 2015, a shade over 3 years, 6 months of owning the vehicle. The vehicle history is good, maintenance is excellent (my wife is a therapist for children with autism so thats why vehicle choice was extremely important - traveling client to client in administering therapy sessions) and without warning, she cannot reverse. She can drive forward, yet is losing power when the automatic attempts to shift from 1st to 2nd gear, so it jumps from first to 3rd.We take the vehicle to Browning Mazda in Cerritos and we are advised that the transmission needs to be replaced (3,200). 3 years 6 months 64,262 miles, excellent maintenance history, & this vehicle needs a NEW transmission? This felt like a terrible joke. The power train warranty? 3y/60k. Expired just over 4,000 miles ago. If theres an engine issue, we usually receive a warning (ie - check engine light flashes on when the oil hits around 3,500) - yet for a failed transmission the vehicle took a dump without warning.We contact Mazda (corporate) & are advised later in the day that they would pay half of the ticketed amount. Thats still egregious as there wouldnt be a vehicle sold if most buyers knew that at such ridiculous low mileage, the transmission would fail them. We retrieve the vehicle and have it looked at for two more opinions and apparently there are no codes indicating the transmission is bad, not to mention the fact the transmission itself is indicating itself being bad simply by the test drive.One transmission mechanic wanted to advise us that Mazda contains many Ford parts, including the transmission and the parts itself. He opens a book, shows a Ford Escape transmission cover (as an example to start) & shows the transmission cover for a Mazda Cx7. Same shape. Same size. Same diameter. The only difference was the material each was made out of. He also advised us that Ford held a controlling stake in Mazda for a very long time and that Mazda in engine make up is similar to many Ford vehicles.Im thankful for such insight as now, my wife, shes back to square one. We will just take it on the chin, pay the dealer, trade it in and get into the vehicle she wanted to originally (Toyota Venza) as it has a powertrain of 7y/100k, and we have another blank check and a few we are willing to pay more of a premium for now as opposed to settling (which appears now, that we did).My advice, if you could help it remain in a Toyota (I drive a Lexus and plan to remain with Toyota) or Honda (my wife bought a Civic new in 2001, drove it to 2011 without issue, netting 170k miles before selling to a UCI college student, then purchasing this Mazda vehicle). If my story helps you even a little bit, I am definitely thankful. This experience feels completely underhanded and we feel hoodwinked.

I purchased my vehicle 2 years ago and just recently got to 20,00 miles and had to have the rear disc brake pads replaced because they barely passed inspection. I called the customer service number and they said they would gladly replace them free of charge if I went back to the dealer immediately that day to get it done. I then learned that this is a flaw that some of the CX-5s have including the current models. I leased my vehicle so I will be returning it before the 40,000 miles when it will probably need them again. It is expensive to replace them every 20,000 miles when they should last at LEAST 40,000 miles. If I owned this vehicle who would have to keep replacing them when they wear sooner than they should, ME!!! That is an expense I can not afford.I also have an issue that when you open the back hatch there is not enough light to see what you are doing. I like the way the car handles in the snow, which is why I leased it to begin with, to see how well it did. I like the car and would love to buy another when my lease is up but I dont know if I will because of the expense of replacing the discs every 20,000 miles.

I am disappointed with my Mazda experience. To start off with, I was lied to when I bought my Tribute. The salesperson took advantage of my inexperience and need for a quick sale. I wanted a car with Bluetooth capabilities. There was a phone deckle on one of the buttons so I said good it has Bluetooth. Not once was I corrected even after saying at least five more times that that was a deal breaker. I am on the road a lot and depend on my phone. I was told that I didnt need a 4X4 that the Tribute would make it through any snow and ice and have no problem getting up my sister’s drive because of the weight of the engine, and the space between the wheels was so large. I got stuck in the parking lot at work today. I had to be pulled out, not impressed. My starter went on my Tribute a couple of months ago. It is a 2012 Tribute, and the starter went once again not impressed. And when I got my car back, there was grease all over the hood. When people ask me what I drive, I say a Mazda Tribute and if they ask me if I would recommend it, I say no and would suggest not looking at Mazda. Pretty sad when I am paying a payment beyond my means, and I have to borrow a 4X4 just to go to work to pay for a car that is sitting in my driveway because it wont move in the Alberta weather.

I was driving home from a trip when I heard a thump and the RPMs went wild. Suddenly I couldnt shift into 4th or 5th gear. Managed to get the car home in 3rd the whole way. Took it to the dealership. They told me 6 codes are coming up and a rod is broken inside the transmission and the fluids burnt. They contact Mazdas headquarters since I only have 45,000 miles on it but its out of warranty by 1 year. They say they will do nothing to help fix it because I havent been having it serviced through them and I show no customer loyalty. I still have 6 months more of payments on it and have to out $3000 for a new tranny now. Thanks, Mazda. Way to stand by your product.

Tried every gas recommendation by MAZDA and the dealership and still until today car won’t give me more than 19.5 miles per Gallon which is sad. I still the window car sticker 22 city, 28 highway combined 24 and still no joy... even though all the miles on my car are highway mile and never speed or push car to limit. Mazda corporation should be sued over false advertising their MPG.

When I receive emails I get a message that asks me if I want to download them for display on the LCD screen. When I click OK I get a message saying they can’t download the message and to try later. But of course there is never a later success. Has anyone seen a correction for this problem from Mazda?

I loved my Mazda from day one. In July 2007, I leased my CX-7, AWD, Touring. In July 2010, because I loved it so much, after test driving several other cars in the same class, I financed the rest and kept it. I have proof of all my oil changes and maintenance to the vehicle. I paid it off nearly one year early with some of my retirement savings so I could enjoy not having a monthly payment for the first time in my life. I also put brand new tires on and another $3,000 of maintenance, replacing the cracked transfer case, leaking oil cooler and loose ball joint (as recommended by Mazda). I responded promptly to all recalls by bringing it right to the dealership I leased and purchased it from. In January 2015, my family was in the car on the way to the mall. The check engine light came on. My husband and I argued for 20 seconds about how he felt there were always problems with the car (I still disagree to this day with the always part). 10 seconds later....the engine shut off, he was barely able to steer the car down an exit ramp off the highway when the car completely stopped. Black smoke came pouring out of the hood. We grabbed our two toddlers out of the their car seats and I stood with them in the freezing rain while flames shot out of the bottom and sides of the car and my husband called 911. Ill never forget how I stood there with tears streaming down my face, shivering and trying to hold my babies while my Mazda that I trusted for almost 8 years, burned beyond recognition in front of me. Thank God nobody was hurt. We dont know what caused it since no warning lights were on prior to that and nothing was reported to me by Mazda service when it was in the shop not even 6 weeks earlier. The insurance money is barely covering what I put in to this car in the last 5 months. I wont buy a Mazda ever again, and I suggest you dont either.

This Mazda CX-5 had replaced one that I really enjoyed. But it does fulfill my needs but its not the type of car I would normally pick out. I like the fact that is all wheel drive. I like the pep in the engine and the gas mileage. I do like the fact that every Mazda has a GPS in it and I like the heated seats. However, the CX-5 is just a lower class model than I was used to previously. The CX-5 is a fine car but I wish that the radio system had XM or Sirius radio.

The repair cost is estimated to be $1400.00 and only Mazda is authorized to perform the repair. Additionally, Ford & Mazda appears to control all flow of information regarding complex repairs. At one point there were several post on forums regarding this problem but now they have been removed. I want to report that I have issues with my CX-5 and I believe there is a design flaw. In my first week of purchasing the vehicle, March; the windshield cracked (18+) from a rock chip. It was then replaced and nearly two months ago, Thanksgiving time, another rock chip caused the windshield to crack (18+) so it was then replaced. Then recently this past Friday, a rock chip also caused the windshield to crack (14+). This car is not even 1 year old & the windshield cracked 3 times. I believe there is a design flaw with the windshield, or the process for making the windshields is not correct. There are cars on the road for over 10 years old which get rock chips and do not crack. There is a problem here.

Dealership sucks, vehicle is good! No doubt that I had done my homework. Family I come from ** is Honda lovers and this was first time, I went out and opted for #mazdacanada. Mazda has some great features which Honda was missing and I was forced to cut down ROGUE because 4 cameras were headache and risky than technology developed by #mazda. Honda CRV, I realized is under power engine and whenever you need force/power, you can sense a howling and growling engine. It has overpriced itself and these two were major reason to opt for Mazda CX-5. There is one camera but sensors are used so intelligently that I have to say they made a niche for themselves. As soon as a car is in your blind spot - you dont/should not be looking into camera feeds - in Mazda CX-5, sensors make a yellow light glow in your mirror with a beep indicating that there is vehicle or person in your blind spot. I am over six feet - so entering and exiting is slight... a little bit tight... I have to adjust my posture of entering and exiting from this vehicle. My dealer experience was not as good as I wanted to be - #abbotsfordautomall #automall where #vipmazda is situated, didnt clarify before I reach to finance department that #bumper to bumper warranty is for 3 years only. They try to sell you insurance cover for those extra 2 years. Second bad taste happened, again when I was facing finance department that INSURANCE have to be from the dealer. They informed me that INSURANCE cannot be done from outside brokers or agents! Coming back to vehicle, its comfortable and nice... Ride is good but still cabin is not silent as I was expecting... In total, this is great vehicle which shows innovations and intelligent designing done by Mazda. This is made in Japan and quality of interior is not as bad as we see in Honda CRV. I like the way sensors handles vehicle and its power... when FWD will be changed in AWD is done auto. Thus it saves lot of fuel. I have driven it in fresh snow, black ice and the way vehicle managed traction and control is awesome. Seating is good and boot is comfortable too. I would definitely suggest this vehicle for small family usage - its navigation and sunroof is added features which helps in movement.

I purchased a 2014 Mazda 6, loaded with their technology package. The GPS was the worst ever experienced. The speaker in the front passenger door vibrated so badly it was hard to use the system, even with the bass turned off. The GPS would indicate a turn 400 yards away when basically at the turn point. It would then suddenly advise to turn, when almost through the intersection. The front drivers seat had limited settings. I went to Mazda for service and all I got was a shoulder shrug. I sent a note to Mazda and didnt even get a response. After 8 months of problems I dumped this car and took a loss of approximately $8,000. I have now owned about 12 cars and the Mazda 6 was the worst experience ever.

I have had both head lights go out, shocks in rear done twice, tie rod end alignment done twice and tires twice. My engine would accelerate for days past 15 miles. My brakes got stuck; I couldnt get off the expressway and missed my stop. I’m still under extended warranty of which doesnt cover any of these things. I took it to 4 shops to be looked at, Goodyear, Midas and Mazda, all of which can’t find anything wrong with this ** car.

About a week or so later, I actually took notice that a/c was not working as good as it did before serviced by Mazda, and as a normal routine of checking fluid levels, I also noticed that the oil was low. On 9/25/11, I called the Mazda service department and spoke to Lee. I informed him the exact information and he told me to bring my car in for service. So, I schedule an appointment for 9/27/11 at 2:15 pm.I went in just to be told that in order for Mazda to service the car, I would have to pay $129 for the a/c and that if oil was short, I would not have a problem unless it was below low. I did explain to him that my husband had to put in a quarter of oil because it was so low. He suggested that I bring it back for another oil change and they would deduct a quarter off the amount. He was not willing to consider by chance that air was leaked out of the car by Mazda technician and not enough oil was put in the car by Mazda. He never stated over the phone about paying for them to check a/c or anything. I drove from another city just for poor service once again.

I had plugs changed 3k ago on my Mazda Tribute and one blew out the other day. It broke the coil off. Dealer is charging me $500 to drill out and install sleeve and new spark plug. They suggested that if it happens again, the head is bad and will have to be replaced for cost of $1500 or so. Apparently, this happens with Fords a lot and as I see here, Mazdas too. It is a commonly occurring quality issue that should be addressed by the manufacturer. Obviously, it weakens the threads when changed at 100k. I had no problems before that then change the plugs and 3k later, one blows.

This car is extremely dangerous. It’s all touchscreen, and the numbers and letters for heat, music and air conditioning are so minute you can barely see them. Wtf??? Why not knobs. Are your engineers stupid, I have to date almost been in 2 very bad crashes due to trying to just turn on the air. I also hate the touchscreen for the Internet connection using my phone. This is ridiculous and so dangerous. I made a mistake buying this car.

It is great for me and my daughter but has a good size back seat if we want to take others with us. It has some updated technology so that is nice, I can connect my phone and it is really easy to drive. It was the car I was able to get approved for so that is what I bought. However, the headlights have to be turned on and off manually, my old car had running lights so I didnt have to worry about the lights all the time. It is pretty low to the ground so it is a big change from an SUV.

I was cheated by Mazda Marshals Milton Keynes. I took my Mazda RX8 to the dealership for a check just to sort out my issues with my CD player which wasnt working properly. Along with that, I told them that the car seems to consume a lot of fuel. They later called me back and to my surprise no value was added to my car, nothing was done to my CD and all previous faults still existed. I was charged $57 which they claim is for the inspection of the car. I then called Mazda customer service along with checking their website only to find out that Mazda does a free comprehensive car health check, the same check which I was charged for. To further worsen the matter, a week after the inspection I discovered my RX8 had issues with starting again whenever it is turned off. I usually have to wait five minutes before starting the car again. I have written to them repeatedly but no reply. Im currently getting legal advice concerning this.

They did eventually cover the turbo under warranty, I had to pay $300 for an oxygen sensor and I still wont do the wheel bearing, but at least they covered the expensive part. I called head office, they called the dealer, back and forth and it was eventually covered.The main root cause is that when I purchased the vehicle and asked to extend the warranty, I thought I was extending the original warranty which is covered under Mazdas Added Protection plan for new vehicles. What the salesman actually gave me is a two year powertrain warranty. Im not sure if this was miscommunication or an error on their part, difficult to prove at this point.

Bought a used Mazda CX-7 July 2016. July 2017 the left front control arm broke while driving down the road. Had my mechanic make the repairs to the car. Sept 2017 I get notice that there is a recall on the issue that occurred. Had the car to Mazda dealer August 2018 and repairs were made as per the recall but now Mazda USA does not want to reimburse me for the repairs made by my mechanic in July 2017 since it was done after the August 10, 2016 date of the recall which I knew nothing about till Sept 2017 when I got the first notice of the recall. Finally got them to look at the info but now they are using the fact that I dont have a bank statement from July 2017 showing the repairs were paid with my Visa when the slip from the garage is clearly marked paid Visa. Big company just looking for any possible loophole to get out of owning up to their mistakes.

My name is Aubrey **** and I have been a Mazda driver /owner for the past 20 years. I am now the owner of a Mazda CX-7. My previous vehicle was a Mazda Tribute. Mazda is an easy sale for me. Since getting my first Mazda, the only thing I have needed to let the sales person know is how much I need to spend and the main features I am looking for. I have never had to write a letter like this before since all my previous Mazdas were excellent choices. However, I have to express my displeasure with this vehicle. I will attempt to express all the features with which I have been having problems over the past few months since I have acquired this vehicle.Wing Mirrors. The CX-7 is a cross between the ordinary car and the SUV. The wing mirrors are much too small for this vehicle and presents quiet and enormous blind spot. I have had a number of near misses since acquiring this vehicle!Automatic Transaxle Control. This Transaxle control is causing me trouble due to the design. Most automatic vehicles only requires a push of a release button and pulling the lever straight down into the required position. In this vehicle, there is no button. However, you have to maneuver your way around a number of grooves in order to get to a desired position. This gives the impression of a manual stick shift which to me seems like a backward step in the design of the vehicle.The Radio. The Tribute I had before the CX-7 had the feature in which was able to continue to listening to the radio when I got to my destination even after switching the engine off until I exited the vehicle. The CX-7 is lacking this feature which I find a huge drawback as it is a newer model.The Climate Control System. Safety is a very important aspect when driving. Most vehicles are designed for the drivers to keep their eyes focused on the plethora of things happening on the road at every second and features which distract from this should not be present in the vehicles. In the Tribute, with regards to the climate control system, there were five (5) buttons to select your preference of either the defroster, defroster and floor vents, the dashboard vents, the dashboard and floor vents and the floors only vents . This made it so you only have to take your eyes off the road once to select the mode you need. In this vehicle there are two (2) buttons, one for the defroster and one for the other modes. Therefore this makes it so that it is fine to select for the defroster however for the other modes, you are required to take your eyes off the road multiple times in other to be sure of the exact mode which was selected, as the second button needs to be pressed numerous times depending on the desired mode.Bluetooth. It is the law that persons are no longer allowed to hold phone in order to have a conversation when driving, so Bluetooth should not be thought of as a bonus feature in modern vehicle but a standard feature. This Bluetooth is seriously flawed. It rings, I answer but there is no sound. I cannot hear the person nor can they hear me. I hang up and the entire display goes blank. The radio goes out and the time resets itself. After which, I have no radio and no phone for days. This event occurs on a regular basis, it corrects itself, after which the phone will ring again and the whole incident occurs all over.Indicator. The Tribute I drove before had the indicators neutralized after 60 seconds. So if I was at a stoplight waiting to go left or right the indicator would neutralize and I would have to put it back on. This a great feature to have as when changing lanes on a high way the CX-7 keeps the light on where as the tribute would neutralize after a minute. It is very irksome for driver to be blowing and swearing at me on the highway for not changing lane as is being indicated. In conclusion, I have to confess the CX-7 is a step back into the past and I would happily trade it for a tribute with the Bluetooth and the heated seats as it is my opinion that I have been downgraded in my move from the tribute to the CX-7. They want to tow my car without any replacement. I only have one car. I cant complain to anybody. Here they will make you feel its your fault you have flaky unit. They want to charge for the repairs. The is less than one year old. Still without warranty. I tried calling mazda Japan but they dont have contact number. Cant complaint to anybody. I should have bought German made car. I love my 2014 Mazda 6. Biggest thing I dont like is the center console slides back and forth under my elbow. Dealer told me nothing can be done. Also sound system is nowhere as nice as my older VW Passat and I have the upgraded Bose.

The clutch on my Mazda 6 (bought new) wore out after approximately 10,000 miles. Replaced by Mazda Main Agents, this also failed after approx. 10,000 miles. Again replaced by Mazda Main Agent, and lasted only around 10,000 miles. Regularly serviced by the same Mazda Main Agents (except just once).I am 81 years old, have held a driving license for well over 60 years. For many years did all my own servicing, maintenance and repairs. You name it and I have almost certainly had it in pieces. The exceptions being gearboxes and differentials. (Never had one of these fail). I claimed reimbursement for these repairs, but was told it was due to my riding the clutch. Rubbish! when I learned to drive back in the 1950s riding the clutch was a sin because, in those days cars were fitted with carbon (graphite) clutch thrust bearings which being soft would wear out very quickly if one rode the clutch, modern cars are fitted with tapered roller bearings or simple ball races. I never wore one out but the ingrained lesson never to ride the clutch has stayed with me ever since.A letter later from them suggested that I was accelerating away from traffic lights etc. too hard, insinuating that perhaps I was a bony racer. In my 20s, 30s and 40s this MIGHT have been the case, but in my 70s and now 80s I am long passed such behavior. I have done everything required of me prior to taking them to the small claims court, including utilizing the facilities of Mediators but they still keep coming up with silly replies. The latest being that I have the clutch examined by an authorized independent company. They also said that this would be impossible because the parts were thrown away on being removed. I am about to write to them yet again informing them that I have, together with other items, both the clutch and the scored flywheel that was replaced in my garage.Advice to everyone considering purchasing a new car, DO NOT BUY A MAZDA without checking the record of service one can expect from your Mazda main Agent. If anything fails, it would seem that they will do anything to avoid recompensing one for anything failing. My claim will be made under the Customer Rights and Protection Act, under the section stating that any purchase should be fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time. All the time that this correspondence has been going on, (several months) the worry and stress has had very severe adverse effect on my health. They have been informed of this but apparently consider it not worth their while to make any comment on it. Hopefully, if you wish, I will come back to you and let you know the result.

2010 Mazda 3 - Another one bites the dust. I work from the house, do mainly highway driving and put about 100 miles a week if that on the car right now. I was driving on the highway and RPM started to rev up; I couldnt switch gears and clutch gave out from underneath me. Luckily, I was able to roll off the highway when I noticed the problem. Of course, one problem leads to another. The battery then died at the shop. I had to replace it as well. This comes not even a month after the rotors for brakes hit the fan. This has got to be one of the most problematic cars I have seen. A clutch dying in less than 3 years and the worst part is my car was due off its lease next month. I assume this to be a manufacturer defect, and maybe one day they will admit to a faulty clutch. As for customer service, its some of the worst I have ever seen. They review your concerns with an eraser or write with one. Horrible company and car!

Bad valve body??? I am not a happy consumer! I have owned the car for 45 days. I paid $31,000 for a loaded CX-5 Grand Touring. I broke down on the highway today. The dealership that I had the car towed to just informed me that it was a bad valve body. Maybe not a big deal to him, but driving a brand new vehicle with 4,000 miles and breaking down on a major highway on a 90-day waiting for a tow truck to arrive is a VERY big deal to me!!

I purchased a used 1996 Mazda 626, 4 cylinder, automatic and shortly after the purchase, the transmission started slipping and eventually failed. I had my trusted mechanic install a rebuilt transmission at a cost of about $1200.00. Around 2,000 miles later, the transmission started slipping again. I have done research and I found that the CD4E transmission is a known lemon. I originally paid $2800 for this car and have put in more than that in repairs. I will never buy another Mazda product.

My Mother bought a brand new Mazda 626, this was a long time ago. SO long ago, that CNN news was just getting started. My mother was killed in this car while driving home from work, she hit a telephone pole at 45 mph. She was removed from the car and taken to the hospital where she died shortly thereafter. We were stymied as to what happened. No one knew, then we found out, way down the road, through CNN news that the car had a history of the ignition turning itself off if you had a heavy key ring. Of course there were accidents all over the US many fatal, some just injuries, etc. I found this out about this car, about a year or more after the accident. Recently I did a search on this Mazda 626, and I couldnt find a thing about it. Was all information removed about these cars, what happened, has Mazda fixed this problem? I hope so, as a year ago I bought a Mazda 5 which so far, has been a great little car. It took me 28 years to be able to buy a Mazda. BTW, Hasnt GM just spent a lot of time apologizing to its customers for the same problem? Wonder how many people died in the GM cars? Mazda didnt even apologize.

As indicated in the service record when I got my first oil change, I had 3,000 miles on my 2012 Mazda 5 when I first complained to a Mazda dealer that my car would wobble when going forward into a right turn and in reverse when making a left turn. The service people said they could not recreate the problem as stated on the work order, but it would mysteriously go away for a while when I complained during multiple oil changes. Recently, at 25,000 miles, the service manager at this dealership finally told me my rotors were out of round so they were going to ground them down to make them straight. I requested they be replaced with new rotors but they said no. The dealer who sold me the car with the defective rotors said no and Mazda Headquarters said see the dealer who sold me the car.The dealer I bought the car from said its an issue of wear and he doesnt do warranty work unless hes paid by Mazda. His service mgr. said he didnt feel or see a problem during a test drive after the rotors were filed down so they refused to replace them. If it was an issue of wear, the problem would not have been occurring since I bought the car. Filing down the rotors mostly eliminated the problem, thus indicating the rotors were bad from the start. To make sure the dealer saw information about the wheels wobbling in formal complaints on paperwork from the 3,000- and 25,000-mile oil changes, I filed a complaint with the state. They sent me a notice that the dealer said it was a wear problem and they would check with Mazda Headquarters!!Now Im wondering if the State of Michigan Attorney General has the will to tackle big business. I sent them every piece of information related to the problem and I would like my rotors replaced. Anybody out there have any ideas, similar problems?

I purchased my CX-5 in 2015, and it is just at one year old. The windshield cracked, starting from the left hand side and reaches across right in front of the view. Researching this, it is apparent that many Mazda owners have experienced cracked windshields. There was no rock, just started cracking. Under warranty still, but the dealer will not honor the windshield. Replacement cost including labor is $850.00.Also, the tires on the car were nearly bald at 16,000 mi. The cost to replace the set was over $1,600 one year into the ownership, and Ive had to pay an additional $2,500 in expenses. If I had it to do all over again, I would have purchased the Honda CRX. So sad to give a company so much money, and have no similar consideration in return. And the dealerships do not take ownership of the problems; Its the Mazda manufacturing, in Japan. Ill never purchase another Mazda again. I hope this encourages someone to not purchase any Mazda vehicles in the future. Ill spend an hour or two at the dealership on Saturday to mention these issues to prospective buyers.

I have not had a single issue with my car in six years, it has been the absolute best purchase I have ever made. The car has also retained much of its resale value. My vehicle is totally manual, transmission and windows; the vehicle also gets great gas mileage. I chose this car because it was rated very high for reliability and overall value at the time I bought the vehicle. However, I dislike the clips that secure parts to my vehicle, and they break very easily. The oil pan fell off a few months after purchase and some of the interior clip ons broke as well.

Recently I purchased a 2015 Mazda MX-5, color zeal red. Damn what a beautiful car!!! I saw the car for the first time about a month ago, and test drove it. On the test drive the car accelerated on its own as I rounded the corner to enter the freeway. The salesperson sitting in the passenger seat said, Whats happening? Heck if I knew. As I depressed the break pedal the car accelerated. This happened a couple to a few times within about ten seconds as I would let up on the break and then apply the break again. Finally the car was back in control. The salesperson wanted to take over the driving so I let him. No problems the short distance back to the dealership. The salesperson said the car acted weird because I was most likely me getting confused in which pedal to use test driving the car. I purchased the car. I know what youre thinking. That I was pretty stupid for buying the car based on the test drive experience. Okay, I agree. The car has about 170 miles on it and this rapid acceleration on its own has happened a total of six times. I scheduled to take the car into University Mazda (This is where I purchased the car) on Nov. 25, 2014 to see if they could figure out why the car was accelerating on its own. On my way to the dealership the car dramatically accelerated on its own as I was breaking to avoid hitting the car in front of me. In order to slow the car down I shifted into neutral. The dealership had the car for one day and their guess as why the car is accelerating on its own is because I have the drivers seat too close to the steering wheel, and that Im getting confused in what Im doing with my right foot as Im driving. Hows that for high tech diagnoses? Forget the fact that I own a truck and Prius, and have had about eighteen cars in my life time. Ive never had this same problem with rapid acceleration with any of my other cars or truck. Look, I may have been stupid to buy the car in the first place, but Im sure not going to be even more stupid to buy some cheap dime store reasoning by the dealership for why the car is accelerating on its own.

I bought a 2015 Mazda CX9 last year which is still under factory warranty. Recently the headlight went off and when approached the dealer they said the headlight was already replaced once by the previous owner but outside Mazda, which might have caused the assembly to go down, contacted Mazda customer service for assistance but it was the worst experience, even after multiple emails and escalations they denied to repair it under warranty. How can they justify the headlight replaced by the previous owner damaged the assembly, even if it is the car is still under warranty, they have no courtesy to customer, please stay away from Mazda.

It has been a great vehicle so far and its comfortable to ride in. I love how I just need the key fob in my pocket/purse and can lock/unlock with one touch and a key is not needed to be placed in ignition. It is very dependable. It is also very comfortable and fun to drive. I chose this for the third row seat to upgrade from the CX-7 I owned. I like the leather seats, sunroof, rear view camera, keyless entry and driving and fold down third row seat. But I would like for it have Apple CarPlay, more leg room in third row, seat coolers and better softer leather seats like previous CX-9 models have.

The Mazda 2 was on the Nissan dealership lot in Glendale. They took me through the ringer and $8000 car ended up being 20,000. Upon the free oil change they offered for year three of those changes. They put the wrong oil during routine. The most had multiple problems with the EGR valve malfunctioning, heart idling fuel injection malfunctioning interior begin to rip and tear fade out. I believe some of the problems were due to Glendale Nissan. What a horrendous collections people to represent a brand.

My brand new 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring is a very lovable car. Great gas mileage, comfortable seats, smooth ride & drop dead good looks. My issue is with the Bose Audio speakers. Specifically the rear speakers. While traveling with some friends, our friends mentioned that the rear speakers were not working. So I tried to adjust this through the menu on the infotainment system. Even after moving more of the audio to the rear, the sound was barely audible.I had the dealership look into this the next time I went for an oil change. They agreed that the sound level was very low. They said they checked similar Mazda6 vehicles on the lot and found them to be the same. The response was that the minimal sound from the rear was part of the Bose design, or at least that is the official Mazda reasoning. So I sent a letter to Bose and actually got a response, but still no fix. They said their engineers would look into the concern, but I have not heard back.I upgraded (spent more) to the Grand Touring to get the Bose system at significant expense. I am very disappointed with the performance and the sound emanating from the rear of this vehicle. In my opinion, Mazda has tried to reduce the weight of this car in so many areas, that they sacrificed a proper power amplifier to drive the rear speakers. I have had Bose systems before, and found them to be superior to this unit in my 2014 Mazda6. I wish Mazda would fess up and deal with this issue rather than point to Bose intended design as the scapegoat.

I own a Mazda CX-5, that I bought without a warranty because of the great reviews about maintenance and service of the vehicle. Please do not make the same mistake! Mazda will not assist with any rare malfunctions that may happen to your vehicle! They will tell you the car is outside the warranty and anything is possible. They can not explain what caused your malfunction or why it’s possible other than its outside the warranty and anything is possible! The Mazda Corporate office will NOT accept responsibility for any malfunctions!

It didnt seem right so I contacted Mazda to see if they were interested in defending the safety record of their products, guess what? If youre not buying you can go ** yourself. FYI we are not suing anyone, just want the truth and justice. Apparently Mazda doesnt care about their ** claims to a safe car. Friends if you have children, get them anything but a Mazda. God bless.

The car itself is a cheaper version of a Toyota. Spend the few extra dollars for the Toyota and get a manufacture that stands by their cars. Mazda is having a big issue with the CMU chips failing for the entertainment screen. My car was 3 months past the warranty coverage and even knowing that they are having problems with these they refused to do anything. Even the replacement motherboards are failing. Without the CMU chip you can’t play the radio. This is not something that should fail after 3 1/2 years. I had to spend $1500 so I could listen to the radio. You get what you pay for. Beware of Mazda.
