2022 Hyundai Kona N Line FWD Review & Test Drive

With today’s dominance of crossover utility vehicles (CUVs), manufacturers are finding creative ways to make their current lineup stand out in a crowd thus attracting a wider range of potential buyers. Hyundai has joined the bandwagon to add a new sporty appeal to additional vehicles with the Kona being one of the first CUVs to receive such treatment in a new N Line trim, which falls between the SEL and Limited trims. Performance and Driving Character The new 2022 Hyundai Kona has already been an attractive offering among sub compact crossovers and a new N Line trim it helps bridge a gap between the mid-level SEL trim and the top Limited trim. Only, the Kona N Line doesn’t do much to add any performance to what you find in the Kona Limited, which gets the same 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft torque 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Having the 195-horsepower engine over the Kona SEL trim’s 147-horsepower is an added benefit especially when you opt for the Kona N Line front-wheel-drive model like my test vehicle. Opting for such a configuration will get much better fuel economy over the all-wheel-drive Kona N Line or Limited trim with 29 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and a combined EPA estimate of 32 mpg. The all-wheel-drive Kona N Line or Limited trims get 27 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The turbocharged engine gets mated to a 7-speed automated dual-clutch transmission, which is great for the direct connection and fuel economy but can be a little unrefined when you find yourself creeping along at low speeds. Driving the new Kona N Line is mostly a thoughtless experience until you have to navigate through heavy crawling traffic where the dual-clutch transmission shows its faults with somewhat of a jerky feeling with it engaging the automated clutch. Crawling around 5 to 10 mph isn’t exactly a fun experience if you’re not careful and soft with your throttle application. That direct connection, apart from somewhat of a lag upon initial take-off from a stop, is part of the sporty attitude in the Kona N Line. There’s ample torque that often breaks the front wheels loose upon moderate to full throttle inputs coming out of a turn at low speeds. In a way, the Kona N Line is fun and lively with its rather stiff suspension that can be a bit punishing at times. Zero to 60 mph takes about 7.4 seconds if you’re able to limit front wheel spin with traction control disabled. There’s hardly ever a lack of power through the midrange and beyond and you’ll feel plenty confident in jumping out in highway-speed traffic. Hyundai’s “N” nomenclature is starting to be shared through a good portion of the lineup with the Kona now getting the N-treatment for both an N Line model and a full-on Kona N with even more power (276-horsepower) and a sports-tuned suspension setup. With the Kona N Line, there’s more of a sports appearance change that sets it apart from the rest of the Kona trims. As far as equipment, the Kona N Line splits the difference in the SEL and Limited trims but receives a few goodies in hopes that the N Line becomes a highly sought-after trim level, along with the more-powerful engine that’s in the Limited trim. Interior and Tech For the added equipment, the new Kona N Line not only gets the more powerful engine and virtually the same fuel economy in FWD version as the less-powerful SEL and SE trims, but it gets the highlighted add-on equipment of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, larger 18-inch wheels that are unique to the trim, sporty heated front seats, and somewhat of a unique exterior appearance that makes the Kona look sportier and more premium than the two lower trims. Where the appearance departs from the premium aspects is the overall interior theme where there’s nothing but hard plastics adorning the dashboard with the only soft-touch area, apart from the seats, is the center armrest. There is a neat play on the plastic trim having a texture and the large 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, part of the optional Tech Package, that does well to keep your attention from the plastics. The infotainment system remains to be the user-friendly setup that I’ve raved about in the past on Hyundai vehicles, and in the Kona N Line, there’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that can also be paired through USB. Seating areas up front are surprisingly accommodating for adults of most sizes. There’s even quite a bit of adjustability in the power driver’s seat. The rear seating is a little cramped but provides just enough space for either two adults or three smaller kids. The 60/40-split seatbacks can fold down to open up the 19.2 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats to 45.8 cubic feet. Other notable features that the optional Tech Package adds is a good-sounding Harmon Kardon premium audio system, power sunroof, LED headlights with highbeam assist, LED taillights, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, highway driving assist, and an electric parking brake. Safety The Hyundai Kona gets a few standard active safety features including forward collision warning and mitigation, lane departure mitigation, and lane-keeping assist. On the Kona SEL trim and N Line trim you get the addition of a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. Pricing Hyundai’s quest to keep its products relevant and a little different from the rest of the crowd is paying off well, especially with the additions of new N Line and sporty performance-oriented N vehicles. The Kona N-Line is just one more move that keeps the brand fresh among younger crowds and those small growing families that want something to stand out instead of sticking with the typical vanilla crowd of crossovers. With such, pricing remains to be respectable starting at just $21,300 before any fees. My Kona N Line test vehicle in a front-wheel-drive configuration painted in an eye-turning Blue Wave color comes to $29,790, including a $1,245 freight and handling charge.

First of all, I love your vehicles. But your finance company leaves a lot to be desired. I have never seen a company with your prestige have such a problem hiring quality people to assist with finance problems. So unsatisfactory. I might consider another company when my lease reaches fruition.

I bought a Hyundai Elantra in 2007 with a three year warranty. Within the first two weeks, the indicator switch had to be replaced. This happened again over a period of a year and now that the warranty has expired, the indicator only works manually.Approximately 8 months after purchasing the vehicle, we heard a grinding rear noise, especially when reversing. It was very noticeable. I am an Estate Agent and it was embarrassing. The local mechanics examined the car and after saying that they knew exactly what they were doing, replaced the rear disk pads and callipurs, etc. with the approval of head office. A week later, the noise was back. I took it to the local supplier but they could not find the fault. My husband kept on saying that they should look at the release bearing and they ignored it. The car was eventually taken to Johannesburg, and a week later, I was informed that it was the release bearing. Remember, this was over a period of a year. They replaced the release bearing just before the warranty expired. All was fine for a few months and then we heard a noise in the engine. I took it in and was told that the valve lifters had to be replaced at a cost of $4,200.00. I phoned head office but they replied that it was out of warranty and not their problem anymore. The day we collected the car, we noticed that the noise had not disappeared. Fortunately, our car was at the wash bay when the workshop exploded (not so sure it was fortunate). The mechanic who released the car to us admitted that there was a noise, but seeing that they had no equipment, nothing could be done about it at that stage. When they arranged for an alternative workshop and the proper equipment, I took the car in. To my utter amazement, they phoned me a day later to tell me that the oil pump, timing chain, and tensioner had to be replaced at a cost of $10,000. Fix one thing and another one appears. What guarantee do I have that this will be the end of my woes and that the problem has been diagnosed properly? I spoke to the Manager, Ben, and told him that I wanted a second opinion and that I would take the car to Bloemfontein. He agreed with me and told me that a car with 70,000 km on the clock should not have all these problems and that I should take it further. I was really excited when I received my brand new car but now, I feel like setting it alight. My husband is so frustrated that he just wants to get rid of the car. We listened to an engine of a similar Elantra - what a difference. My brother in law had an Elantra which clocked 600,000 km and it hardly ever had any problems and that is one of the reasons why we bought one.Let me just say that the local supplier and his staff had always been helpful and friendly, but they can only help to a point and after that they have to abide by Imperials Rules. I will not stop until something is done about it.I appeal to you. Please see what you can do for me.

Your roadside assistance is horrific.. I had a flat tire. Could not inflate with your inflate a tire. The tire was tore up because you didnt have spare. Had to call roadside. They never showed up. This was Sunday 2/22/15. I was told they could not tow me to dealership until the following day. If I would have left my car on road it would have been towed per state trooper.. Thank goodness for the kindness of the trooper in Glen Allen, VA. He took my son to merchant tire, dropped him off. His girlfriend had to stay with car and the trooper checked on her. I could not get to the car soon enough and the trooper came back and picked my son up and took him back to care. Thank you so much trooper for your care and concern for my young son and his girlfriend stuck on the side of the road. I have also been on hold for 45 minutes waiting to get thru to Hyundai roadside, no answer yet. So much for your care and concern and this will be reported to 12 news on your side... The customer service rep was very hateful when we got thru the first time, said could not tow to dealership after hours. Bla, bla, bla. Thanks Hyundai for your help. I will be trading my car for another make and model. Goodbye.

In early 2012 I leased a Hyundai Santa, in September 2012 the vehicle was involved in an accident and sustained severe front end damage, all air bags deployed etc. The vehicle was towed to a junkyard/auto repair shop. I had full insurance plus gap insurance through Hyundai. My insurance paid out over ten thousand dollars that I sent directly to Hyundai. I constantly contacted Hyundai regarding the status of the vehicle, the account was placed in the recovery department that was handling the gap insurance. In November of 2012, the last correspondence I had with them that I initiated was with that department. At that time I was told the vehicle was covered under the gap insurance, time went by and I never had been contacted by Hyundai, I presumed the vehicle was paid for and everything was done. Until a year later and I applied for credit and was told to my surprise that I had repossession on my credit, prior to this I had excellent credit. I Called Hyundai and was told indeed this vehicle was repossessed, they could not supply me with when it was repossessed from the auto repair shop, when the sale was or if the vehicle was ever repaired. I was never notified of any repossession, never notified of any sale etc. I have on several occasions contacted in writing Hyundai requesting proof of the vehicle being repaired, proof of the vehicle being repossessed and sold. To this day almost three years later, they have not and will not send me any proof of this and this full amount owed is still affecting my credit.

I am writing about both my Hyundai Elantra Coupe and my sons Elantra GT. My Coupe has 14,100 miles on it and the CD player wont work, the transmission slips between shifts, the Bluetooth has to be synced every time I use it. Guess you get what you pay for. My sons GT has under 40,000 miles on it and has been through two sets of tire and starting on the third, front wheel bearings have been replaced already and the rear suspension is so poorly designed it wears tires at twice the rate of the front. Both vehicles are 19 months old. I would never recommend a Hyundai to anyone.

I have experienced one of the lowest quality customer care and service from the customer service department of Hyundai USA. I have cases open with them for the past 4 months. I am following up with the customer service department every week, and I have received a very poor unresponsive service from this department. Do not recommend this car manufacturer if you care about (and expect to receive) quality customer care and service.

Whatever you do when you buy a Hyundai, carry Emergency Roadside with your insurance company. DO NOT RELY ON THIS PIECE OF CRAP SERVICE! Especially when it comes to your safety! Locked keys in car, as well as money, credit cards, and of course, cell phone. Only had new Accent about 4 months, decided she has it out for me. Ive never had such bad luck with any of the possibly 20 cars Ive owned. Im not here to write all my complaints about this gas guzzling, gutless, cheap economy car. But the 800 # on the window? Scrap it off and toss it. Wont do any good, unless you have your phone, flashlight, eyeglasses, and nothing better to do than stand in the rain, at night, in a sketchy hood in the dark fighting off bums for almost three hours. I dont care what youve heard about Hawaii and Aloha spirit! Most Local People HATE ** people and do not like to be bothered by us in time of need, no way no how. Ive lived here many years and can tell you Aloha is a farse, like, an honest politician. Kid at gas station did NOT appreciate my asking to use the business phone for an emergency, then called number on car door, was still daylight so could read vin #. Took forever to answer all the questions, then the customer service guy said he needed callback #. Told him I didnt have one available, the business phone was not happening, and my phone is locked in car. I was very descriptive of my location, no callback # available but was assured, within an hour??? I would be assisted but need to stay by car. So hour and a half go by, no one. I reluctantly asked kid to use phone again, called 800 # again, they had no record of my first call, so again they want my vin #, dark now cant see it, my name, phone #, email address couldnt find my ownership anywhere, they need a call back #, Im pissed at this point. They would not be able to promise help without callback #. So tried to break out back window, kid from gas station finally feeling sorry for poor 60 yr old woman in the rain and the dark, assisted me with calling a nearby locksmith. Almost 3 hrs later and $250 cash!!! Not even gonna bother with asking for any refund, ya already know theres fine print somewhere excluding the hardship I went through. So, because the car is crap, roadside service is crap, warranty will be crap when I tell em to shove the $60, less than 1000 mile, every three month oil change, without even so much as a vacuum job. Wait til they see the back window I tried to bang out with a rock! Screw it. Crappy car. Crappy service.

I slid off the road and called roadside assistance. I had been pulled out about a month ago, also. This time they said they would not pay for being pulled out. We have had a severe winter and have had a lot of ice and snow. On the Hyundai advertising it says, 5 years unlimited roadside assistance, with 24/7, 365 day service. The roadside assistance representative said they recently changed their rules. (Almost a year after I purchased my 2013 Sonata) I talked to representative **. She never told me what rule they changed. I told her they couldnt change the rules retroactively. She said they could and did so. She referred me to the towing service subcontractors. (Cross Country Motor Club) The motor club informed me that the car had to be less than 10 feet from the road, to be pulled back onto the road. I asked him who made that new rule and they could not tell me that. I told them that if a car slid into the ditch, it would be 10 feet from the highway 90% of the time, and that would make roadside assistance unusable 90% of the time. I threatened to go public to the internet and also press a possible lawsuit. My car is well within the 10-foot rule. They still refused. I’m handicapped and a senior citizen. The roadside assistance was a major reason why I purchased the car. Now, Hyundai is going back on their word. I started to call my dealer and before I could talk to him, a towing company called and said they would be at my place within 2 hours. I called the towing company and asked if Hyundai was paying for it and they said yes. Hyundai previously said they would call to get me help, but I would be charged $170.00. I dont think that any customer should put up with a company that treats its customer in the above manner.

This is our 4th Hyundai, second Tucson. You have lost a customer. This 2017 limited Tucson turbo is terrible... the transmission is awful... hesitation, jerking. I have had it to the dealer several times to be told “nothing is wrong”. They tell me they are aware of the problem but until Hyundai does something to fix the issue their hands are tied. I’m sure there will eventually be a huge lawsuit and then... Hyundai will say bye-bye! So sad!

Worst vehicle ever!!! The engine seized at 90,000 miles without warning. Now at 92,000 miles the steering column is shot. My mechanic found that the steering coupling among other components were basically shredded. He replaced the column and brought it to Hyundai of Metairie to have the electronic steering reprogrammed. The Hyundai service dept. will not do it. They want to replace the column again. They say the car isnt drivable. It was driven to them.

We purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata in 2012 from the dealership. We actually purchased it for our college students, however, my husband and I liked it so much that, we gave them one of our other cars to drive instead, and kept the Sonata for ourselves. We have told many people how much we liked the value of the Sonata, in price, appearance, reliability and gas consumption. Because we liked it so much, we decided on another Hyundai, and bought a beautiful 2014 black Hyundai Genesis. We have honestly been considering an additional purchase of another Hyundai Sonata for our youngest son. However, our glowing opinion has been cut short. At 98,000 miles, the Sonata began making funny knocking sounds. We took it into our trusted mechanic, and he tested everything, including codes and found nothing. Nor did the knocking continue while he was testing. So I could not recreate the issue. We went on our merry way, oblivious to the impending disaster. At 106,000 miles, the Sonata began stalling out, with the knocking sound returning. I brought it to my husbands attention and by the next morning, when we went to take it to the mechanic, the car would not make it. The engine kept stalling. We took it to the mechanic and he did his diagnostics and announced the engine was shot and he could either replace or we could have it towed to Hyundai dealership to see what they could do with it, possibly offer some assistance. We had it towed to the dealership, and they announced that they would have to submit a request to Hyundai dealership - to see what could be done about a new engine. At first, the dealership said the manufacturer would do nothing to help. We went back and forth, in the hopes that they would re-consider (knowing that we were loyal Hyundai customers). Hyundai responded that if the dealership installed a used-30K mile engine, then they would not offer any discounts or warranties and that would cost us $7500. However, if they were to install a rebuilt from scratch engine, then they would install for $4500. We are heartbroken. Our Hyundai is due to be paid off in November, and now we are faced with a $4500 out of pocket expense and still waiting to hear if there is a warranty for the repair. My husband is meticulous with his cars. We have four cars - A Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada, a Hyundai Sonata and a Hyundai Genesis. We had hoped to add a 5th - (another Sonata for our son), but that will not be happening now. Its dishonest to not reveal this catastrophic failure on the part of Hyundai engineering. And we actually selected the Genesis over the Infiniti and Audi - comparable models. I understand there are two class action lawsuits re: the seizing of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata and other new models. If a contemporary car cannot beat the 100,000 mile test, then you should spend your money on another company, like Toyota, that will go the distance. Both our Armada and Toyotas have over 150,000 miles and still going strong and running beautifully. Good luck to anyone considering a Hyundai purchase, Im sorry to report...

We love the appearance of our Hyundai Sonata. However, it is covered under an oil consumption recall which the dealer will not fix. Hyundais complaint department is no help other than recommending us going to another dealer. The next dealer is further away from us. We already drive too far to the current dealer for them to do the oil consumption test. Said oil consumption test involves the dealer changing the oil early due to the oil consumption. They have guidelines that say the car must use 1 quart of oil by 1,000 miles. Our car makes it barely past 1,000 miles and then hits 2 quarts low before the oil change is due.We have been advised not to add oil or get oil changed anywhere other than the dealership. Thats what we are doing. They seem to overfill the oil each time which gets us barely past that 1,000 mile guideline. We cant trust this car for trips. We cant keep driving back and forth to the dealership for them to do nothing. We will not buy another Hyundai and we will continue to warn others of our troubles.

I have a 2007 Azera. This is not my first Hyundai, but this seems to be the one I am most disappointed in. I bought the car used in 2011. The car was clean, drove great, was good on gas mileage, then the check engine light came on. I took the car on a regular basis for oil changes and maintenance and when they hooked the car up to find out why the engine light was on, they had no answer. It didnt even register that it was on. So that was perplexing. Ive learned to live with the check engine light - it goes on and off when it feels like it. Then the motor on my sunroof stopped working, it will no longer open or close all the way. About a week ago I was leaving for work and I went to get in my car and the seat was pushed all the way back, now as a woman I panicked and thought someone had been in my car, but that wasnt the case. When I finally felt safe to enter my car (there was no one hiding in my back seat),I adjusted my seat back to normal manually.I started driving down the road and the seat readjusted itself without me touching anything, once again I panicked but this time it was because I couldnt reach the pedals. I turned around came back home and switched cars with my husband because I had no idea what the problem was and I didnt want to get on the highway and not be able to reach the pedals. He drove the car to his work and not only did the seat keep adjusting itself but the steering wheel moved also. On the way home that day, he said it seemed to be fine. Now a week to the day later, today, I was leaving work to come home which is a 48 mile drive, my cars seat was all the way back again. I tried adjusting it, I shut the car off and tried to start over, NOTHING - the seat kept automatically going back. Is this safe? Should I be driving this car when I cant even reach the pedals? Im very afraid at this point that I am going to get into an accident or cause an accident. What do you suggest?

Once you buy the car you are on your own with respect to the warranty. There is a poor association with the dealers and the company. The dealer will tell you the work is not covered or do poor work on the car and you have no options. The company will say it is a dealer issue and the dealer will tell you that the corporation has such strict guidelines on warranty work and you will not get anywhere. I complained and sent letters to executives and the president and they will send you back to customer service which will give you the usual routine about company policy. There is NO means of escalation. All you can do as a customer is use social media. This company has archaic concepts of customer service. This company has a long way to go with respect to customer service after you buy the car. Warranty work is very limited. Do not expect standard repairs after you purchase. I will never buy a Hyundai Car again!!!

After my tire going flat on the 405 freeway I called Hyundai roadside assistance and they told me it would be an hour so I waited. Calling back Hyundai roadside assistance they told me it would be another 90 minutes. What? Why do I have to wait longer because of their mistake? Should not punish me for their mistake. Should service in order of calls received!!! Never again will I use this service. Part of the reason I purchased my Hyundai was the roadside, big mistake. Should have stayed with AAA.

I purchased a new Hyundai Elantra 1 year ago, drove just over 20,000 highway miles; and already the tires need to be replaced! When I bought the car, all the salesman (Murdock Hyundai in Murray, Utah) could do was say how dependable and reliable everything on the Elantra is now. He was right, except for the tires!

I love my Hyundai Tucson. I love the performance and durability. It is a 2016, and I love all of the added features. Since I am 75 years old I particularly like the warning when I want to change lanes, that there is another car beside me. I also like the backup screen especially at night, and a warning if a car or person is coming behind me.

I lease cars every three years, so Ive had many cars throughout my lifetime. Ive never written a bad review about a car or car company until now. I just turned my 2014 Sonata in early (40,000 miles) and decided to pay off the lease/lose a lot of money because I was scared for my safety. My heating and cooling unit had to be replaced, the shifter had to be replaced because it was making my car stall, the wheel wells tore off because they were made out of cardboard, the clasps on the armrest broke because they were made of cheap plastic, and the back seat material pulled apart because they only sewed part of the seats. Then there was the recent recall for the engine and seat belts at the same time. The seat belts were installed incorrectly and the engine had an issue where it could stall spontaneously while driving. The quality control for this company is ridiculous. Then the last time I took my car in to be repaired I started getting messages and flyers, within a week, from Hyundai about the car I own (I didnt own the car) and how I should extend my warranty. This has led to random warranty companies calling about extending the warranty to now receiving multiple calls a day from credit card scammers. This never happened before I had my car repaired as Im very careful about who gets my number. Clearly my number was given out by Hyundai and now its in the wrong hands. I am beyond disgusted with this company.

I have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata and Ive taken my car to a Hyundai dealership over 6 times. My car started stalling and just shutting down while driving it. Lights in the dash start lighting up and my back lights work sometimes. I keep buying headlights and brake lights. Right today my car is fixed because the dealership said they couldnt find anything wrong with my car. They gave me a loaner car and kept my car for about a month but did nothing to it. I also complained to them that my valves was tapping, but they said its how the car suppose to sound. Its just so much going on with my car but Hyundai dealership dont care about the customers. Its not right and you still owe lots of money on the car. I feel I have a lemon.

The people are great when it comes to buying your car. But when it comes to helping fix it it is a nightmare. I got a new engine 3 months ago. They had it for 9 weeks. After 3 months of having it now it is having another issue and no one seems to know how to help other than fixing it. The parts are nowhere to be found and they have NO loaner cars, which I was told at first one wouldnt be given to me because my warranty didnt cover it even though had they done it right in the 9 weeks they had it, I wouldnt be in the position I am right now with NO car. After struggling for 7 weeks last time, they finally gave me a loaner the last 2 or 3 weeks of it all.Now we are at yet another situation where they cant help. This is completely aggravating and disappointing from Gates. I have been with them 7 years and this has been the worst yet. No big issues have happened in the past. My car is a 2014 with 41,000 miles and it shouldnt be where it is now. It has been well maintained and cared for. Before you buy, just know they are great but thats their job when selling. But when it comes to fixing things later on down the road, good luck.

3 weeks ago, I bought my 2016 Genesis Coupe and the car salesman did not tell me that the car was going to be very low to the ground, about 3 inches. Yesterday, as I was pulling into a parking spot, the front splash shield guard under my car, got stuck by the parking stopper made out of cement and as I pull back out, the splash shield broke off at the right side. I took the car to the Hyundai dealership to get it repaired. Well, it is going to be over $1,400.00 lots of damage for a little accident that should not had happened, if they would had disclose the height of the car. Just because no one told me that the car is very low to the ground and the splash shield may get stuck and break off as you pull back.

I agree with the gentlemans statement on 10-19-2011. I also have a 2008 Sonata and the sun visors after about 2 years started to fall about half way down. It’s very annoying especially while you are driving. First, it was the passenger’s visor and then a few months later the driver’s visor. At first I thought that the kids were just admiring themselves but then my side started to do the same thing. Thats when I knew it was an equipment problem. Hyundai fixed both visors because they were still under warranty. Now Im having issues with the ESC light coming on and thats why Im doing research tonight. Thanks.

I leased a 2021 Hyundai Kona EV from Hyundai November of last year. The vehicle has been giving me issues since, constant dashboard lights and issues with the electric vehicle system. After attempting to charge the vehicle at home, the vehicle would not charge at all. This occurred on January 28, 2022. I anticipate the issue would be due to weather and did not drive it for a few days. On February 1, 2022 I attempted to drive the vehicle and it would not pick up a charge. On the dashboard a check engine light displayed (Check Electric Vehicle System). The only charge left on my vehicle 19% of battery, roughly 58 miles of distance.I contacted the dealership and explained my issue, and they stated I would have to tow the vehicle to their location, and incur towing fees at my own expense. I then contact a dealership that was much closer, and they scheduled me for service on February 22, 2022. After dropping the vehicle off, the service advisor contacted me 9 days later and explained to me that the vehicle has an issue with the electric vehicle system. He also advised me that the electric vehicle battery must be replaced, and the time frame for replacement is 5-7 months.I contacted Hyundai Corporate and explained to them the issue. I advised them that I would like to have the vehicle purchased back from Hyundai due to its defect since the vehicle can not be repaired in a timely manner, and has a defective issue. I also explained to them that an issue with the battery concerns me, and I do not feel safe charging the vehicle at home knowing there is an issue with the battery, and there may be an issue with the replacement battery as well. The safety of myself and my family must be taken into consideration when dealing with an issue on a vehicle that is plugged into the electrical system of my home. Hyundai advised me that there is nothing they can do, and I am stuck with this vehicle. This entire situation has been an unforeseen nightmare.I am at a lost for words at the experience that I have had with Hyundai Motor America. This is a new vehicle with roughly 5,000 miles, and I am being forced by Hyundai Motor America to continue to remain in a lease for vehicle their own employees have told me could be many months to repair. Hyundai Motor America is refusing to assist me in the matter knowing that the vehicle is a lemon, under New Jersey lemon law. I highly suggest anyone reading this to rethink to do business with Hyundai Motor America.

07 Santa Fe problems after 60,000 miles. Oh, where to start? Well, even before the 60,000 mile mark, we were wearing out a second set of tires (3rd set came around 66K). After 60K, both front ball joints needed replacing along with steering arm (front left). Then a host of electrical problems. March 2012 had alternator and battery replaced. Check engine light has been on continuously for over a year. Dealership scanned, no codes. Ignored light ever since. Now, alternator failed again. Returned to shop where previous alternator was installed, thinking that was the problem. Nope. Oil leaked from valve cover gasket onto alternator, shorting it out. Well, I already had it towed from point where it died to this shop, not going to have it towed again for $85 or so to nearest Hyundai dealer, who may or may not conclude that the gasket replacement is a warranty item (79,000 miles and I am original owner). Hyundai customer service is not helping. Usual corporate gibberish e-mails and saying that warranty claims must be handled through a dealer, which I agree with. My contention is that the 3.3 liter V6 engine has a ton of consumer complaints regarding this gasket leakage issue and that Hyundai shouldve issued a recall notice. But its a costly repair as far as labor, so chumps like me are stuck with the bill unless a dealer wants to submit a claim. I worked for a Hyundai tier 1 supplier in Alabama in 2005 and it was true then, keeping costs down was priority one. I am convinced Hyundai uses parts thatll last just long enough to make 60K miles, then consumers are on their own. Cant believe I traded an Accord (high mileage with no issues whatsoever) for a Sonata (our other car). Gonna get rid of the Sonata before 60K for sure. My advice, if buying a Hyundai, get an extended warranty too (I did not), but go over the fine print and see what it covers.

I have owned my 2009 Hyundai Elantra since new, and have had a rear rattle problem since new. The car has been in and out of numerous dealerships in the past four years with no one being able to find the source of the rattle. The aggravation has been enormous. This is clearly not a rare problem, as there have been countless articles online about the same problem I have, from other Elantra owners. I am throwing in the towel on Hyundai. I will never get near any Hyundai product again. When they first arrived in North America 25 years ago, their cars were absolute junk, especially structurally. I personally thought they sorted out those problems over a very long period of time. It is now clear, they have not. They are getting favorable write ups in the media, but I dont think that will last. My experience has truly been a nightmare.

I was driving along a straight road 4 weeks ago when there was a sharp crack. A hairline crack appeared down the plastic decal of the climate control system and the audio system. When I took the car to the dealer they stated that it was a scratch and not a crack and the manufacturers have refused to repair it under the Warranty (there is a 5 year Warranty on this car). I am a 74 year old lady so there are no children in this car to cause a scratch - it is very definitely a crack, but the dealer says it is not. I feel as if I am now in limbo with this.

I was told it was $312.00 for the battery through the dealership. I said thanks but Ill go elsewhere. After 3 weeks of looking and calling around Ive been informed that the battery can only be purchased from a dealer. I decided to call Hyundai customer service to find out why. There is no reason other than, Because thats the way it is and because we can. What?? Really??That is how the conversation went. I asked to speak to someone who could answer me why and was told that, Everyone else will give you the same answer, the way it is and because we can. What kind of crazy monopoly is this. Any other year Sonata battery can be purchased elsewhere. They are unwilling to explain why, they are unwilling to require the dealership to sell the part at a reasonable price, nothing. No help, no explanation, no concern or consideration. I have really liked owning my Hyundai until now. I recently paid it off and now its having issues creep up that require attention only at the dealership. Interesting, frustrating and suspicious. Might very well be the last Hyundai I ever own.

HYUNDAI IS THE WORST WORST WORST! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TALK TO SOMEONE IN CORPORATE FOR OVER TWO WEEKS. Everyone in my family owns a Hyundai. My son has a 2012 Sonata that started burning oil. He brought it to Star Hyundai who fixed the problem but actually made things worse. He then brought the car to Plaza Auto Mall where he purchased the car and was told he needed a new engine due to what Star Hyundai did. The warranty claim was denied because they said he never had an oil change. He then produced 8 receipts showing all the oil changes he indeed did have and still they declined the warranty work. He was told that we had NO RIGHT to know why it was denied. On Feb 16TH I spoke to a MS. ** who said she would get back to me within 48 hrs to find out why it was denied. It is now March 5th and still no call back. Today I called corporate and theOPERATOR would not let me tell her what the problem was. When I tried to speak she said SHUT THE ** UP then she hung up. I called back repeatedly and every time she hung up. I have traded in my car and will be buying a Subaru. My son unfortunately was so desperate he traded in his car at Plaza Auto Mall and leased a new Sonata - which we all regret.

We leased a new 2016 Hyundai in December 2016 and had nothing but trouble with the lease from the very beginning. Our Santa Fe was leased from a dealership in Colorado. We had no trouble on a previous lease but this time the communication between the leasing company and the dealership was horrible. The salesmen on the floor were using filthy language and the finance person didnt send the paperwork and our payment up front in for almost 60 days. Hyundai leasing called us to tell us we were late on our payment when we had not received any paperwork yet to make a payment. We set up payments through our bank and about 14 months later after the finance company did an update on their software they called again to tell us we hadnt paid our payment and our bank had not accepted the payment. We had received a confirmation number on the payment. The finance company was ready to ** us. Then I had them look at the bank info on their end. IT WAS INCORRECT!!! Our account showed no change(?). Again they fixed it and apologized to us. We couldnt wait to bring the lease back this December which by the way, was in EXCELLENT condition and 7,000 miles below what the millage of 30,000 miles. The dealership tried to sell us the car but we just turned it in. They had us sign a paper (which we never got a copy of) and said that was it and we could leave. Today we got a bill telling us we still owed $433.00 to bring the car in at the end of the lease that we were still responsible for the final payment and if there was any damage to car we turned in-we would be billed for that (???) plus a late fee if they didnt get the $433.00 in 15 days. Good grief! I had thought it was OK to drop our auto insurance when we turned it in!! What if they sold the car or were allowing people to test drive it?? We called Hyundai finance and they said it was their bill and not the dealerships. Nothing was said to us when we returned the PERFECT car. This sounds like a legal scam!! This never happened with our first lease. Why this time?? Its not like we have so so credit; it is over 800! This has been so distasteful that we will never go back to Hyundai nor will we consider a lease again. We will make sure to tell everyone we know not to lease from Hyundai. By the way; we immediately paid the $433.00 and got the CONFIRMATION NUMBER however they said it would take them two weeks to get the paperwork to us showing the lease was paid in full. Additionally, they said they couldnt send an email showing the final payment and release of the lease. I will be waiting and watching our bank account because-again-I DO NOT TRUST THEM!! We are not sure if they will do as they told us or will they say the payment didnt go through and bill us a late fee??? VERY unhappy with Hyundai and Hyundai finance.

What I enjoy most about the Hyundai Accent, is yes, it gets great gas mileage but it drives like a luxury vehicle with lots of speed. Colorado roads are in bad need of repair but the Accent drives over most of the unavoidable potholes with ease. The drivers seat is comfortable as well as both the front and back passenger seats. Avoid this dealer and Hyundai as a brand as much as possible, here is why.
Avoid this dealer and Hyundai as a brand as much as possible, here is why. I bought a brand new Hyundai Sonata 2015 on February 28, 2015 from World Car Hyundai North, San Antonio, TX. On March 31, 2015 the car broke in the middle of the road, engine has overheated. So I called the towing company and transport the car to the dealer for diagnose. The following day I called them to ask about the car and they told me we need to replace the entire engine in order to fix it. Dealer will fix it under warranty but that is not acceptable for me, for a car that was on the road literally 1 month and has only 1000 miles. This option may make the car driveable but still impairs the value of the vehicle. I opened a case with Hyundai and BBB Auto Line, but Hyundai said no for replacement of the car or repurchase, they want to replace the engine. I refuse to have a used car, how dealer put it, with a replaced engine that most likely will be remanufactured new engine, even if they sustain is going to be new out of the factory. I know they can say whatever to me just to get me out of their back. If I want that I will buy a used cheap car, buy a new engine and I will have a used car with a new engine way cheaper, without a high monthly payment for the next 7 years. Car value right now dropped about 30%, with a replaced engine it will drop even more around 50% or lower, depends on mileage down the road. So I am paying for a new car with a major repair and who knows what are problems this car has. This car is a lemon but dealer or manufacturer trying to get away with it and make the customer supporting all this. I am making monthly payments for a car that is not operational, and dealer told me the problem is out of their hands. What they are doing now, they are trying to trade the broke car for the current market value, and make me buy another one. They dont want to refund me or give me another functional new car out of the parking lot. On April 6 I went back to the dealer to ask for a phone number to call Hyundai regional office, they told they dont have it. In the same day I asked them for a copy of the service worksheet to see exactly what they did to diagnose the car, they refused to do so. I had to go around them to someone else to ask for a copy of that paper, really? So much for customer care, they just dont care. Pretty much they took the money and now they are washing their hands trying to fix a lemon car. I had to get the phone number for regional office from the internet myself and get in touch with them. On April 9 Hyundai regional office called me with some options and I was willing to consider two of them, but I had to talk with the dealer for one of them. So I went to the dealer and find out that they fixed my car without my approval or signature, they also broke the car hood, they bent it and bent and scratch a portion of the car body. They also already ordered the hood and everything else to fix the car, again without me approving anything or them calling me and let me know what is happening with my car. Dealership manager said verbally they will keep the car there and they will work with Hyundai to give me a new one, hard to believe. After two weeks we are more in whole with my brand new car and no good resolution for me the client. So far the repairs of the car cost a bit over 9000$ - listed as part, not as engine. Who knows how much will be with a new hood, body repair and paint. They also refuse to give me any copies of the service records, they told me I will have them when I will sign to take the car. They are doing crappy things there and Hyundai doesnt care. Now my only resort is to go to court which I will. Buying a Hyundai was the worse decision I have made. Hyundai is the worse car I have ever own.

On May 17, 2012, I purchased two Hyundai cars - a 2012 Sonata and a 2012 Accent. When I tried to register as the owner on their website, I got the message: Email address already entered. I tried to reset my password approximately 15 times and when I would try to log on using the password they sent, I would get the message: Incorrect email or password. I talked to Hyundai representatives many times with no success. I found out the dealer where I purchased the cars had entered my email address wrong and only they could change it. I also found out they had entered a PIN and a security question which I knew nothing about. Now, after about fifteen phone calls, they refuse to talk to me.They say it is my computer but I have tried on three different computers and have run Microsoft diagnostics on my computer without any problems. I can log onto their financial website without problems as well as all other secure sites. At this point, they will not answer my emails or phone calls. I cannot log on to blue link, and I cannot register as owner of the Accent. They claim that they can log on using my email and the reset password. I dont believe they are being truthful.

My warranty was voided by Hyundai because of their authorized dealership installing an alarm system without my knowledge. I was informed of this after I took my car in because of cranking issues, gas smell and car jumping into different geals by itself. After the dealership pulled and worked on everything on my car, they sent a field engineer who told Hyundai to void my warranty. Now I have a car that I cant drive because of safety issues and not one representative from Hyundai cared that my car was is unsafe to drive while Im still paying monthly payments on the car. Its amazing how Hyundai voids a warranty after their authorized dearlership install parts when you didnt ask them too. I eventually was sent an official letter from Consumer Affairs stating that they paid me for this service. Well Hyundai, if you paid me for this service, Im still waiting for the Check!!! Dont TRUST Hyundai. As there commerical says, They shoot straight with their customer. Yes they do, with lies to avoid their obligations.

I took my car in because I have been having trouble with the transmission. I have been very stressed because I do not like to drive a car that shows it is having problems. I have problems when I put it in reverse. I jumps and jerks. Also when I get on the free way, it struggles to shift gears. I was told that I needed to drive it for one or more months until the transmission breaks more. I am very worried because I get very nervous knowing it might leave me stranded or worse if I am in a free way.

The car is extremely quiet in the cabin because the gas engine turns off when approaching stops. All waiting at lights is done with practically no sound except the climate control system. After approximately 3000 miles, I began hearing a knocking, clunking sound during braking. It became worse and worse until you could count 5 to 8 knocks as you approached stops.During the 5,000 mile service, I reported this and the Hybrid Technician rode with me in the car and easily heard the noise. He correctly stated, the sound seems to be coming from the firewall behind the steering wheel. There was an identical 2016 Sonata Hybrid on the lot. Same options only a different color. We could not this car to make the noise. An appointment was scheduled to look at this. The brakes were bled and the technician admitted the problem was better but not resolved. Indeed, the sound was better for about 200 miles then the issue returned as before. Only worse. Another appointment was scheduled. This time the brake fluid was removed, something was filtered??? And fluid replaced and bled. This totally removed the issue for another 200 to 300 miles and then the noise slowly returned. Another appointment was scheduled. This time I was told to leave the car and loaner would be given to me. Instead, when I arrived, I was told I would only have to wait 30 min and then take the car. I was told the brakes had been adjusted and the car was safe. No change or resolution at all.I called Hyundai USA only to get an attitude from ** about why I would complain about such a small matter. The brakes were safe and I should expect a car with 10,000 miles to perform like the Silver Sonata Hybrid on the lot with less than 50 miles. Im not making this up. I asked ** to connect me to her boss. She refused saying, Id have to talk to her. I said I wanted to speak to her boss. She replied, He was in a meeting. I asked her to leave him a message and call me back. That was weeks ago. NO CALL BACK. At this point, I began pulling out the Lemon Law booklet and left a few pissed off messages to the service manager in Sport Durst Hyundai in Durham. This prompted a return call stating that in the previous visit nothing had been done to the car but a regional parts and service manager was in town and wanted to ride in the car.So I went back for a 4th time. Four of us climbed into the car. ** The technician, ** (Hyundais regional manager), ** (Sport Durst service manager), and I drove. It was not difficult to create the sound by feathering the brake pedal. The real noise, however, happens when the car is in start and stop driving. When its hot. They had a remote part microphone, when was turned on indicating the noise was coming from the Hydraulic Brake Actuator.Okay. The part makes this noise. For the first 3,000 miles I never heard the noise and you still cant hear it in the new Silver Sonata Hybrid which was on the lot. My response was, I dont care what kind of noise a part makes in the engine compartment, I dont want to hear this in the cabin every time I put on the brakes. The regional service manager then stated that for CUSTOMER SATISFACTION the part would be replaced. The part could have been replaced 6 weeks earlier when I brought it in, but Hyundai in California refused to authorize this replacement.Ive never owned a car even from the 70s and 80s that made such a noise when applying the brakes. This condition is beyond unacceptable. So today, I get the new part. Im almost certain that within the next 3000 to 4000 miles the noise will return as before. Im also confident that hundreds of 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid owners in the next 6 months are going to be bringing in their cars with brake noise complaints. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for them to remove and replace this actuators.

I recently called/Hyundai roadside assistance, noticing that it included towing. My vehicle has a flat tire, and at this point I don’t have a ton of extra money. I live 200 feet away from a Firestone tire, a relative helped by purchasing the tire I needed and Firestone said they would install it. All I have to do is get the vehicle or the wheel over there. Well Hyundai Veloster don’t come with a spare tire or jack. So I can’t jack the car up and take the wheel off, this didn’t seem like a problem knowing I had roadside assistance. Well roadside assistance will not hold me across the street where I already have a fully paid tire waiting, they would however bring me to a Hyundai dealer but they are non-local to me. I was told by the tow company that exceptions can be made so I spent time on the phone with Hyundai’s customer service just so that they could tell me no. I can assure you after customer service like this I will never return to Hyundai again. This is a lack of compassion for their consumers, I understand you want me to be brought to a Hyundai dealer so the dealer can make the money on the tire and installation, but in my particular situation you should’ve okayed a tow across the street; don’t buy a Hyundai thinking you have someone there for you when you need it. You don’t.

My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Hyundai Azera in November 2013. Since then we have had numerous complaints with the vehicle in and out of the service department. Keep in mind the dealership is 90 miles one way and a rental vehicle was only offered one time to us out of the several trips we had to make. Let me start with noise up over the driver sun visor. The service department could never find and still to this day the noise can still be heard. Two of the wheels the clear coat started to come off. They did not want to replace the wheels and by stating that it was a product we must had used on them when washing the car. Needless to say I became very angry and we did receive two new wheels after the fact. The vehicle being 8 months old with 27,000 miles one of the tires are so worn and legally should not be on the road. The other three tires are worn but not worn as bad. Tires with 27,000 miles should have more tread on them. This vehicle gets serviced and tires rotated every 3,000 miles and all services have been scheduled at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle but one. The service department at the dealership is the worst we have ever had to come in contact with. You have two people telling you two different things regarding the tire tread. Alignment was good and was told we needed to contact Hankook the tire company and this was not a Hyundai problem. Hyundai is the one that contracted Hankook to put these tires on the car so I feel this is Hyundais problem. The chrome molding around the two back passenger windows is popping off. The dealership mentioned on the service print out that both moldings were loose but is only going to replace the driver side molding. I guess the passenger side molding will be another trip to the dealership before they will replace it instead of replacing them both at the same time. You can clearly see the passenger side molding loose too. Hyundai did everything in their power to sell us this vehicle with this wonderful 100,000 mile warranty but every time you have a problem you have to cause a scene and get angry before anyone wants to do anything. The tires is the biggest issue. This is a new vehicle and nothing is getting done about it. Is this how Hyundai treats their customers? I guess more complaints have to come forward or even deaths before Hyundai does anything about this major problem. If you are reading this just be aware of all the complaints listed and should reconsider purchasing a Hyundai. I wish we had done more research before we made our purchase.

DO NOT LEASE FROM HYUNDAI. They have the worst customer service skills. 9+ weeks waiting for a response to get my registration renewal. It’s out since March and is nearly 1st June still nothing from them. Every day for a solid 5 weeks I called. I spoke to so many employees and managers every day. They told me a different lie every time, stay away from these guys. After reading reviews it seems they are known for stuff like this. Also I called the dealer in Norwood MA and they too did not respond to any of my calls. Finally today I received my registration and decal thanks to my insurance company. They requested a duplicate. If anyone else is having the same problem call your insurance company for help. I cannot wait until my lease is up so I never gotta deal with these guys again.

I have a 2012 Sonata that had less than 80,000 miles on it and the engine completely blew. I found out that my cars motor was recalled so I contacted Hyundai and they brought my car into the shop. They paid for my new motor and even for my rental car for the weeks I was without my car which is very generous and I am grateful for, however the customer service since has been terrible. My car was taken into the shop in September and was returned in November. I was told November 7th that if I sent in a picture of a monthly statement and proof of registration they would reimburse me for the months of September and October because my car was in the shop those months. I tried calling the number of the representative I was given 2-3 times a week just to get an update with no answer once. I emailed the customer service line which took 20 days to respond saying the sources of what I turned in (the exact items they asked for) were not good enough for the reimbursement to go through. It is now December 9th. I STILL have not heard from my representative and still have not heard if I will even be getting a reimbursement with what I sent in. Its just very frustrating. In addition when they replaced my motor they also replaced my BRAND NEW starter as well and will not reimburse me for that even though it was only a couple days old. Will never buy a Hyundai again.

In September 2011, I purchased a 4 ton truck from Hyundai East Rand. I was told that the truck was 4 tons and therefore it could carry a load up to 4 tons. Upon receiving the registration documents I realized that the truck was registered as a 3 ton truck. When I inquired about this, I was told by the sales person, Allan, that this was a fault by Korea. Apart from them selling me the truck under false pretenses, the front cabin of the truck is not straight, the radio keeps skipping channels and switches on even when the trucks ignition is switched off. The truck is sluggish and doesnt feel like a new truck. The engine is rattling, the interior is coming loose and the faults just continue. I have laid a complaint with customer service, but the guy, Sibusisu, just passes the buck and sends me from pillar to post. The dealer principal, Gavin, is not interested in talking to me to sort the problem out. They have taken the truck in for 7 days to identify the problems and they havent given me a replacement truck nor have they compensated me for the loss of income. It is no fault of mine that they sold me a truck that is not up to standard. I need compensation and a 4-ton truck! !

I was forced to sign a lease for 2012 Hyundai Elantra by Herb Chambers Hyundai of Auburn, promising a great deal and rebate. But they have put more than $3,000 above their MSRP of $21,495. They gave me no rebate. When questioned, they said this particular car doesnt have a rebate. But that car always remained in their specials page with all the other deals! They did all malpractices in the lease calculation and made me put a down of $530 - $2,000 cash and $3,300 trade-in. Still, they made my monthly installment $291.44 for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year.Their advertisement says MSRP $21,495, monthly installment $234 for $0 down! I paid $5,300 down but my installment is much higher than what their ad says. I contacted them many times with this but their response was so sarcastic and humiliating. The managing director asked me, Then why did you take the car? in a very sarcastic way. They even openly accepted that they put a higher MSRP purposefully and they do have the right from Hyundai to do so.I complained in Hyundai consumer affairs but they closed the case just listening to the dealer saying that they gave me a huge package of accessories which made the price difference. The accessories the dealer gave me did not cost beyond $1,000, but the lady who represented Hyundai was not willing to listen to me. She was in a hurry to close the case. I am trying to get justice in some or other way.

Bought this car 2nd hand from a dealer. Car had low mileage and was in great shape. Two weeks after we bought it with a 3rd party warranty, we found out we could can barely put gas in it. Also we had to get the fuel level sensors replaced because we never knew how much gas we had. We have talked to the dealership we bought it from. They said they couldnt fix anything because we bought it as is. It may take up to 30 minutes to put a half a tank in. Recently we had to take it to a different dealership because the alternator went out which was caused by a leaking valve cover which they replaced the front valve cover and the alternator at no cost. But didnt change the back valve cover which was still leaking as well. Which I would have been more than glad to pay for. Also one day after we got it out the shop now the drivers side floor board is full of water because of something leaking from the sunroof. Which there have been so many complaints about these issues. But all the consumers get stuck footing the bill.

Consumers please beware when buying Hyundai car. I bought Hyundai Sonata 2011 in June 2014 and the car is a piece of crap. So far I have this car almost 2 years and I already spent tons of money fixing it. Something is always wrong with it. The electrical, the gas, the brake, the fuel line... In addition I received 3 different recalls notices that the car is not safe to drive... Really 3 recalls in less than 2 years? What the **??? I have not even driven 100,000 miles or 5 years on this car yet and have spent thousands of dollars fixing the piece of JUNK/GARBAGE. So stay clear from this brand and do your homework thorough. Dont just Google it because they paid lots of advertisements money to be on top of the search page so all you see is great things about this piece of CRAP. Instead looking at buyers comments on various websites, or ConsumerAffairs to get a real picture and its condition before you buy. Personally, they LOST me as a customer forever. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM HYUNDAI AGAIN AND WILL MAKE SURE ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW ABOUT THIS. Very angry Hyundai car buyer.

2008 Hyundai Elantra - On May 8, 2013, I was driving 38-40 mph on damp road. I swerved to miss an animal and spun 270 degrees. I hit a tree on passenger side door, broke passenger window, moved forward, hit passenger quarter panel and then it went forward and hit front bumper directly center. Neither front nor side airbags deployed, brakes froze (ABS didnt work) and ESC didnt work (received ESC recall notice after accident). It totaled the car. Passenger received lacerations due to glass breakage. Driver and passenger received bumps, bruises, sore neck and body parts. This is a huge safety concern. What can be done about false safety advertising?

Hyundai Motor Finance are the worst group of customer relations. They dont care about the customers. I leased a vehicle from them, turned it in early, paid the car off. They auctioned the car and sent me a remaining balance, which should not have been calculated. They revised the amount and was supposed to send me a new balance. Ive been calling and kept note of everyone spoken to, begging for the balance due to make payment, since November 2016. Its now April 2016. I was told I had a lower balance than what was originally calculated. I paid it and was told by a manager Ruth and other workers, Tiffany and others that the account is settled and will show paid in full, and the credit bureau will be notified of the closed account.A week has passed and I called to check in on my account and was told that I had a past due balance of the same amount (WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE UP TO?). It still show on my credit that this account is past due. Ive lost over 100 pts on my credit score because of their false report. When I was making the monthly payments, updates were quick. Now that I want out, its like they dont want to let you go. The managers and workers in-between are all the same - they make promises to take care of the situation, have managers call you back etc, and they do nothing about it. No one calls back. Nothing happens. This account is paid in full to date. The car was auctioned off and its final - all I want from them is to close my account and update my credit that the account is paid and closed. PLEASE HYUNDAI, its been 6 months of calling you. Not getting anywhere with all the staff you employ. I want to move on with my life. I want nothing to do with Hyundai Motor Finance. Josh, my roadside assistance mechanic, was early and could not have been nicer. He was finished with my tire replacement in ten minutes or less and answered all of my questions. Terrible cars... worse service. I am the owner of a 2008 Hyundai Accent. It was my first new car purchase almost a decade ago. Thats great, except for when I actually took possession of the keys. Within three days the gas cap had to be replaced due to depressurizing. Then about 18 months later there was an issue where the key would go into the ignition, but would not turn. The wheel lock was not the issue. Roadside came out, and said one of the tumblers were jammed. They tapped the key with a rubber mallet, and the key went in without issue. Fast forward three years later, the original 5-year warranty had expired. This time the key would not even go halfway into the ignition. I had to pay $65 for a tow, $700 out of pocket for a new ignition, plus $200 for a rental car. The excuse I got from Hyundai of Bedford Heights, Ohio was that the weight of my keys were too heavy. There were a total of six keys on my ring. It took about a month, but they refunded me the tow and the ignition, and basically told me I was out of luck on the rental. Now there was the recall for the undercarriage rust protection in the snow-belt states late last year. Two weeks before I received the notice, the entire exhaust pipe from the front axle to the muffler fell off the car in the middle of the street. Driving it to a Midas down the street, it was found the pipe, and all the welds that attach to the undercarriage were RUSTED out... imagine that! That was $1,000 out of my own pocket. Thankfully, Hyundai offered a reimbursement program. I get a call several weeks after I filed the claim wanting to know exactly why I was filing the claim. I had yet to hear anything, so I wanted to see if they offered a status update. Sure enough... denied. So magically Hyundai offers to spray the undercarriage to prevent rust under recall, then tells you to stick it when parts have already fallen off due to the reason why the recall was initiated in the first place. I will never purchase another Hyundai again, and Ive gladly talked several friends out of purchasing their product in the last few years. I even laugh at people driving Hyundai vehicles with new tags on them, because I know the world of pain they are due for.

Had no knowledge of the Azera when I first saw the car but after a test drive comparison with the Sonata it seemed more substantial and luxurious. I have leased over eight cars in my lifetime but the Azera limited was the first that I purchased at the end of a lease. The Azera limited had many factory installed options and safety features that were standard along with the Hyundai warranty made the Azera limited the obvious choice.

Last night my 2011 Sonata would not start. I tried to get a jump start but was unsuccessful. I had it towed to the Hyundai dealership where they told me I needed a new starter. It was not under warranty. I always get my scheduled maintenance done and recently had everything checked. I have about 72,000 miles on the car. I was charged $405 total. What really bothers me is that the tow truck guy told me that he picked up 3 other Sonatas this week with the same problem. This may be a recall issue. Also the passenger seat is way too low.

I purchased a new 2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS in 2005. I also purchased the Hyundai factory extended warranty which covers most of the parts and systems for 10 Years or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first. In the past, I have been very impressed with the customer service and support of Hyundai owners by Hyundai Motor America. However, their new CEO is apparently abandoning the policy of supporting their customers and their good will. Just after the car passed the 100,000 mile mark, the cars thermostat worth around $13 stuck and the radiator was fried. There were no warning lights to alert me to stop driving the car as it was overheating. My Hyundai dealer wanted almost $1,000 to replace the thermostat and radiator. I almost fainted. I called other Hyundai dealers and they told me they heard of this occurring on other Hyundais the same year and model as mine. I called Hyundais customer connection line. After reviewing the case, they refuse to offer any relief. I also noticed that in the customer satisfaction surveys, Hyundai formerly sent their customers after service was done on their car to ensure dealers were doing a good job have ceased. No wonder Hyundai has dropped off the list of Americas 10 Best Selling Cars in 2011 and only has about a 5% share of the US auto market. Taking their valued customers for granted will most likely cost Hyundai dearly in customer loyalty and repeat business.

I would like to report MPG fraud by Hyundai. In January 2014, I bought a Sonata, which promised 28 mpg (city and highway). Since then, in LIGHT suburban and highway driving, I have averaged 19.2 mpg on a 4 cylinder car. Hyundai refuses to take any responsibility for this and states the mpg on the car sticker is an estimate. An estimate of 33% less. I urge all prospective Hyundai buyers to take note of this. They have been very uncooperative and I have tried to settle this several times.

It is a very reliable car. The seats are very cozy and the air conditioning works very well. But I would change the default radio it has. The radio has no bluetooth or touchscreen, it would be ideal if it had more functions like front and back camera or a GPS system and a android operating system. But other than that, the car has not had any problems and is very economic in gasoline plus it is very responsive and smooth to drive in.

I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited with all the bells and whistles.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited with all the bells and whistles. The Elantra comes 17 inch tires when you order the Limited. The 17 inch tires are also very low profile tires (45). The day I purchased the car was a cold and rainy day last November. When I test drove the car the roads were wet. On dry pavement the road noise started at about 35 MPH and gets so loud you have to turn up the radio just to hear it. NOT what you would expect from a $25000 car. I have complained about it to Hyundai - they authorized me to have the tires replaced with better quality tires - which I did and the problem still existed. Hyundai admitted there is a problem or they would not have replaced the tires. Many road tests have been done with Hyundai employees and all admit there is excess noise. I am working with the BBB to get Hyundai to buy the car back. Last week Hyundai after admitting there was a problem now wants to deny the claim. The problem is an engineering issue that cant be fixed and this was told to me by Hyundai. Has anyone had luck with the BBB arbitration hearings? I am very disappointed in Hyundai. Hyundai admits there is a problem now wants to deny a claim. I am not going to go away.

I currently own this 2015 Sonata limited and have seen very little of it lately. I purchased this car in October 2015. After around seven months of ownership, my battery went dead. I called service. They jump the car and figured that was the end of the problem since it was a very cold morning. A few days later the same thing happened again. Called the service. They jump the car. This time I drove it to Star Hyundai service. The manager at that time, Mike told me that there was nothing wrong with the battery and they were not replacing it. This was after two hours of trying to diagnose the problem. He tell me if it happens again I should have the car towed in. That is exactly what I did a few days later. He still refused to admit that there was something wrong with the battery. I then contacted the dealer whom I bought the car from who put the screws to him and he finally changed the battery. I thought this was the end of the problem. Wrong! This problem has repeated itself several times over the last few months. I have had three new batteries since the original battery put in to this car. I only have around 16,000 miles on the car. After the issue had escalated I contacted their customer care department. I was given a case number and a really horrible case worker. He never answered his phone, was very slow to get back to me. Kyle **. They advertise great customer service. HORRIBLE!!! I was forced to hire a lemon law lawyer. My car is presently in the shop going on 26 days. They could not find the reason for the battery failure. Fortunately for me, I was given a loaner. Now I am just waiting to see what they are going to do as far as replacing the car or offering me a buyback. I certainly dont want a replacement. This was my first and my last Hyundai purchase.

Hyundai has very good service. They stand behind their product. The service department is very good also. The car is performing very well for me too. I like that the air conditioning unit works very well along with the automatic windows and door locks. I would have liked to get the internal GPS system but it cost too much more money. They have cut out some of the benefits like oil changes.

I just like to have a horrible nightmare story with my Hyundai Sonata 2005
I just like to have a horrible nightmare story with my Hyundai Sonata 2005 in last 2 years. I desperately need your legal helps, suggestions and comments. On 02/22/2012, My Sonata 2005 just past 70,914 Miles and I was suggested by young guy name ** to change my Timing Belt and etc. I spent $967.43 to let Lehigh Valley, PA Hyundai Service Center done the job. At that point, my car just have a tire issue. After 2 weeks, I hear some noise when I first time start car. I called **. He told me because it’s new belt and Id better to tolerant it. At April, I still hear noise and little bit loud. I call them again. They let me left the car with them several days. They wrote it down as they cant find any problem and adjust timing belt little. They sold me about annual State Inspection package this time. After that, I changed Spark Plug and Engine Oil with top line product myself in the same year. I always use Hyundai Genuine Oil and Air Filters once day one and do this maintenance job myself when I purchased the car as brand new one. I tolerant this problem several months and called them again. They still tell me the same answer. I was so busy for my job and life. I cant always let them keep my car for several days to find nothing. On 04/08/2013 at 88,055 miles, I hear a belt broken sound while I am driving on I-78 and engine is completely shut down. I called them ask for road assistant and was told to paid for towing or solve myself. I managed myself to get their place. They told me that I have to pay myself for the repairs. After several days, they called and informed me that they found the engine was broken. They will cover for these repairs. In last year, I already talk to totally different Manager and Service Reps. They also told me that they had difficult to find replace engine. Until 05/01/2013, I was called for the job done.I changed engine oil with Hyundai Genuine Oil Filter and 5 Gallon Castrol High Mileage 10W40 myself last summer. And I wish I can keep this car for another 5 years. However, I notice in Nov. the oil check light sometimes flashing in an barely occasion while I drive on highway ramp and stop at traffic. Im NOT pay too much attention about this issue. I know if I call them, they will keep my car for several days and find nothing. Thats about their service and skills.Last month of 8th, I try to pull my car from heavy snow in dark evening and the car start as normal and was NOT working after several times back and forth to pull out. With several light on, I can start the car at all. I give up my efforts to drive car out in that evening. I called my job off in second morning and try to start it again. It was OK and out of from the snow. I immediately drive to LV Hyundai Service Center and notice that the engine check light is solid ON while I stop at traffic. They call me afternoon and tell me they cant find any engine oil in my car and the engine is broken again and ask me about engine oil and filter purchase receipts. I usually dont keep these small purchase receipt for my normal life. However, I can show them my a couple of old replacement Hyundai Genuine Oil Filters in my garage. I bring two used filter and one air filter. I argue with them NO CAR should running under engine oil while my gas tank is 80% full. Your engine has a big design defect. You should repair or replace it again under your all your warranty claims and consumer protection laws. I talk to them back and forth several time already. They still refuse to do so. I dont have my car for more than one month. Please help me if you all can. Thank you very much in advance.

When shopping around I was looking for a convenience features. Sonata Hybrid 2016 was slightly better than other midsize hybrid alternatives. Looked at all these reviews on Edmunds and similar websites. From their perspective it looks good. After one month of driving (and pretty good experience) main battery broke. Brought it to a dealership. It took already 2 days just to localize the problem. Accordingly to them it will take another 1-2 days to get an answer from Hyundai what needs to be done. This is a car on a warranty. What happens when its out. I feel Im screwed. This is a new car. Just started to pay for it.

Zero Rating if possible. I dont really know where to begin with this brand
Zero Rating if possible. I dont really know where to begin with this brand and its terrible cars. I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata Turbo in 2013. Ive spent countless hours with my car in the shop over the car sputtering, shaking, cutting off at stop signs. Not to mention the electronics in the car are terrible; Bluetooth doesnt connect half the time for unknown reasons. Theres been at least 4 recalls done since I purchased this car. I had to get a total electrical discharge done to reset the electronics because the car was going haywire. Finally, Im down on Myrtle Beach for vacation and the car totally shuts off. Turns out it was a faulty engine that needed to be replaced. Took 30 days to get the engine sent in from Korea and replaced. Then somehow the rental car that I had racked up an amazing 2400 bill of which Hyundai determined to only pay $400. And then afterward I noticed the car jumping and things shifting and making horrible noises under the hood. Turns out the repairmen didnt screw the transmission mount screws on tight enough both of the bolts had the heads off and the transmission was moving around while I was driving. The dealership told me the car would be fine to drive and so I did until it just became unbearable. Now they want me to fork over another $1700 to replace the entire subframe that they messed up when installing the engine. Hyundai is a horrible company with Horrible cars. I will never purchase another thing from you and your terrible dealerships. Go out of business for the countries sake or leave your terrible cars in Korea.

I really regret getting my car from Hyundai. Id be much more content spending more each month on a different car so that I didnt have to deal with Millennium Hyundai. The Service Department is rude. Im seven months pregnant with a toddler. I needed to know if there is a lender car available while my 2012 Sonata is looked at because Im not taking public transportation in the middle of the winter. I dont make car payments each month to take public transportation. The staff was rude when I called and when I asked to speak to the general manager, they claimed that he had just stepped out. I asked that he call me back before 5pm and to no surprise, he never called me back. The manager of the Service Department was not helpful, was impatient and condescending. When I finally did make an appointment, I got called into work that morning at the crack of dawn and couldnt drop the car off. Now, Im receiving emails and phone calls telling me to reschedule. But when I called, they dont answer any of my questions or offer any help. I cannot just drop the car off with a toddler, pregnant, take the bus and make it to work. Its not possible. I need Hyundai to work with me. I am now driving around in a car that stinks of fire and gasoline whenever I turn the heat or defrost on. Mind you, I have children in the car.Never again will I buy/lease from Hyundai and dont get me started on the tire pressure issue. Also, my husband went to the used car sales section of Millennium Hyundai. You would think they could get a name like first, middle, and last; especially since weve already done business with them! They keep calling and sending letters for (middle), (last), (first). Really? I cant wait for this lease to be up so that I can be done with this computer. For me, the consequence is that Im stuck with this car for the next 2.5 years. And for Hyundai, they lost a customer.

I am having a huge issue with the quality of service that I am receiving from Hyundai’s service department in Carlsbad. I had an issue with my car on Friday 10/5 around 730 am. I had the car brought to the service department at the dealership by AAA that morning. I received a call from the AAA driver that my car was dropped off at 815. I didn’t hear anything until 2pm from Ulysses that they received my car. He had a second to look at it and maybe it had just run out of gas. I explained that it was having issues prior & when the AAA guy jumped in it did turn on before bogging out so if they could do a diagnostic to the car just to make sure everything else was fine.He asked for my consent to put $20 worth of gas in it and then let me know if it turned on before doing the diagnostic. It has now been 5 days and I have not received one text or call. I called to get an update about the gas, but Ulysses had already left for the day. When I called today I was placed on hold for 13 mins before a rude receptionist told me Ulysses was out for the next two days and won’t be getting to my car. Is this what I can now normally expect from this location? Before moving out here I would take it to the dealership in Corona and they have always given me the best service, quick and communicated great with what was going on. I now feel slight nervous and used leaving my car at a dealer that is so unresponsive and upright rude every time I’ve called.

WHY I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER HYUNDAI / KIA. (With sincere apologies to anyone I ever influenced into purchasing one). The primary reason I will never own another Hyundai or Kia, or recommend anyone else ever own one, is that they, in spite of their supposed great quality, are inferior products!! Please understand that I do NOT consider this the fault of the dealerships or dealership service departments with whom I have interacted; they have all been very professional, competent, and friendly. This comes down to the fact that the basic cars are junk from the factory and overall quality of the manufacturing is extremely deficient. To wit:I purchased my first Hyundai Sonata, a 2006 with a V-6 engine, in August 2006. It had ten miles on the odometer primarily because I took it for a 2 mile test drive before I bought it. I loved the ride, handling, and everything about the car. When I bought the car, fortunately I negotiated a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty as part of the purchase. In addition, I purchased the 5-year hard-simonizing that also treated the interior fabric. I was planning on driving the car for many years and have regularly maintained it with that in mind.I very carefully broke-in the engine according to the recommendations in the owners manual driving it at a certain rpm for so many miles, etc. It now has just over 117,000 miles. Much of my driving during that time has been highway driving. I have faithfully changed the oil and filters every 5,000 miles. I flushed the engine coolant as recommended as well as had the transmission serviced as recommended. Most of this has been performed by the local Hyundai dealership or by one in Dayton when the Richmond, IN dealer from whom I originally purchased the car went out of business. I have the receipts to prove my ongoing care of the car. Each time I had the car serviced, the dealer did a multi-point inspection of the vehicle and reported all known issues to me. For the first year or so, I was very happy with the car, and recommended Hyundais to others. (As noted, for that I now apologize to them.)Following are the primary issues that I have had with my 2006 Hyundai: 20,500 miles, 11 months after purchase, left front door armrest had to be replaced because the first one cracked, making a popping noise (warranty replacement). 25,500 miles, 1 year 2 months after purchase, noted that A/C system does not seem to be putting out cold air properly, an ongoing problem that has never been resolved to my satisfaction. Dealer continues to claim that system checks out properly; air in this Sonata is not as cool or does not cool as quickly as the second Sonata described below. 25,500 miles, left front door trim backing must be replaced because it is cracked which continued to cause the popping noise described above (warranty replacement). 33,700 miles, 1 year 10 months after purchase, I complained that at times the drivers side window had a scraping noise as it went up and down. (No resolution at this time.)55,400 miles, 3+ years after purchase, both drivers side front seat switch and power mirror switch were inoperable and had to be replaced. (warranty replacement). 61,600 miles, 4 years 1 month after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinder 1 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 63,900 miles, 4 years 2 months after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinders 3 and 5 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 78,000 miles, 5 years 4 months after purchase, power steering system dampner fell apart and had to be completely replaced (warranty replacement). 82,500 miles, 5 years 8 months after purchase, A/C compressor had to be replaced. In addition, the drivers side window (complained about earlier but not repaired at that time) RF regulator had to be replaced because now not only was there a scraping noise when the window was lowered but also the window would not come back up without help. It was also determined that my headlights were noticeably dimming because the positive cable assembly needed to be replaced but that was expensive and would not be covered under warranty since it was not broken or had not caused the lights to stop working. (Warranty replacement on A/C compressor and window RF regulator; headlights continue to this day to dim noticeably when engine slows down).87,000 miles, 6 years after purchase, replaced drivers side rear door latch and actuator assembly because auto door lock stopped working (warranty replacement). 101,000 miles, 7 years after purchase, and just beyond the warranty period, the alternator had to be replaced (out of pocket expense). Headlights still dim noticeably when the engine slows down.116,500 miles, the engine temperature and interior heater started acting up in a strange way. At first I thought it was a failed engine thermostat which is kind of how it was acting. So I replaced the thermostat. (Even the dealer mechanic later agreed that is the first thing he would have replaced.) In removing the housing that contained the thermostat, one of the three bolts broke off completely just as I was beginning to put torque on the head. This is supposedly a grade-8 bolt. I doubt it! I have never had a thermostat cover bolt break off in over 50 years of driving and working on cars and I have changed a few thermostats in that time. So what should have been a 30 minute job took half-a-day to remove the broken bolt which then required removing more of the hoses than would have otherwise been needed in order to access the broken bolt. Thank goodness it broke off such that I was able to remove it with vice-grips and thus did not have to drill it out to use an EZ-Out, which would have required a lot more time.117,000 miles, the Hyundai is now at the dealer. The dealer mechanic found the reason why the heating system on my Hyundai with the V-6 engine with only 117,000 miles was acting strangely. It had two warped heads. The dealer has no explanation for the problem. The engine had to be replaced. I was unable to purchase a re-manufactured engine, much less a new engine, because Hyundai stopped manufacturing or stocking needed replacement engine parts over a year ago, thus the necessary parts to properly re-manufacture an engine, much less purchase a new engine, are no longer available. Therefore the only solutions were to replace the heads and hope that the current engine block was not damaged, or install a used engine from a salvage yard. The local Hyundai dealer (Wetzel Hyundai in Richmond, IN) has just finished installing a used engine with 78,000 miles on it, 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty. Out of pocket cost - $4,300 with a $200 coupon or it would have been $4500. If you wish to consider the above repairs routine maintenance that is your choice. I do not. I consider it poor manufacturing quality for which I never plan to own another Hyundai or Kia. If you are not convinced by the above related experiences, read on.During the first year of ownership, I loved everything about my 2006 Hyundai Sonata, so much so that I made the mistake of buying a 2007 Sonata for my wife, to replace the 1997 Plymouth Breeze with over 230,000 miles she was driving. I purchased the 2007 Sonata used. It had been owned by one of the salesmen at the dealership whose wife drove it from Richmond to Indianapolis and back each work day. She got pregnant and wanted an SUV by the time the baby arrived, so the salesman was selling the car as part of a trade-in with the dealer for whom he worked at the time. The 2007 has a 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder engine; I purchased the car with 7,275 miles on it. While I did have it hard-simonized with the additional interior protection, I did not purchase an additional warranty I just went with the standard Hyundai warranty of 60,000 miles/7 year bumper-to-bumper and 100,000 miles/10 year power train. When it was still new, everything worked fine. It now has 84,560 miles on it. Just like the 2006 Sonata above, I have had one dealer or the other perform all of the recommended maintenance on the vehicle on a timely basis. I have all of the maintenance invoices to prove it for both cars. In addition, I washed them, or had them washed, somewhat regularly. I took them through the car wash on a regular basis, particularly in the winter after a snowstorm, and always added the underbody wash as well, to wash off the road salt to some degree.Below is a listing of all the things that have gone wrong with that car one continuous stream of ridiculous failures after another due to poor manufacturing quality:24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase, power seat control switch had to be replaced because of a short in the switch (warranty replacement). 24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase the rear brake caliper on the passenger side seized, causing me to have to replace the caliper and rotor as well as brake pads on that wheel. No warranty considered normal wear and tear. 29,000 miles, 2 years 6 months after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced because short in switch caused both mirrors to adjust intermittently (warranty replacement). 35,000 miles, 3 years after purchase, en route to North Carolina in August, the A/C stopped working. A/C compressor totally locked up and had to be replaced (Johnson Hyundai of Cary, NC treated us very well) (warranty replacement).46,600 miles, 4 years after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced again because of a short in the switch causing the powered mirrors to be totally inoperable (warranty replacement). 68,000 miles, 5 years after purchase, door hanger handle on front passenger side broke off and had to be replaced. (Parts - $30, self-replaced). 70,700 miles, 6 years 4 months after purchase, engine oil pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (In over 50 years of driving including several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace an engine oil pan before.)73,800 miles, 6 years 7 months after purchase, the transmission pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was also not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (Again I say, in over 50 years of driving, several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace a transmission oil pan before. Remember, too, that in winter I regularly run the cars through the car wash to include the underbody wash to get off the road salt and grime underneath the car.) I wrote to Hyundai corporate about the two pans rusting out; the only response I received was a email reply that essentially said, We are sorry you are unhappy with our product. In addition to the specific instances at certain dates and mileages noted above, there are other problems with the 2007 Sonata listed below for which I do not have a corresponding date or mileage but which are ongoing issues: Power mirrors continue to be problematic; no one seems to be able to fix them properly. Now out of warranty so are now essentially manual adjust set and do not touch! Seek function on the radio does not work on AM and only marginally on FM. A little annoying when traveling and attempting to find radio stations en route. Neither sun visor stays in place; currently being held up by bungee cords wrapped around the sun visors and the door hanger handles so that they do not inadvertently drop down into the drivers vision. Because of the embedded courtesy lights in the visors, dealer replacement for each one is in the hundreds of dollars. First the drivers side broke and then a few months later the passenger side malfunctioned. The powered door lock on the passengers side rear door works only intermittently not tied to weather or temperature or any such phenomenon. Half the time it works and the other half it does not. Recently, the drivers side front door has begun to act up on occasion and fails to lock. For over a year now, the cruise control set button typically requires that it be pushed several times before it will engage. I must assume that one of these days it will stop working and I will no longer have cruise control without another expensive replacement/repair.Recently, when replacing the front brake pads and rotors, one of the bolts holding the bracket that holds the caliper in position was extremely difficult to remove. It turns out the bolt was somewhat cross-threaded. Since these rotors had never been replaced until now, it means that the bolt was cross-threaded at the factory during initial installation. My guess is that I will have to soon replace the caliper on that side as it did not easily compress during the repair. I simply do not have the extra money or time needed to fix the ongoing problems, so my wife (especially) will just have to put up with the inconveniences for who knows how long.Brakes: I have had to replace brake pads, and rotors on occasion, much more frequently than I think should be the case. However, I blame that more on our intrusive government controlling our lives in order to protect us from ourselves than on Hyundai. Under the old system of asbestos brake pads, I routinely got 60,000 miles or more out of a set of brake pads (as well as a set of tires). With the Sonatas, I am lucky to get 40,000 miles usually more like 30,000 miles out of a set of brake pads. The only complaint I have with respect to Hyundai is that rotors, when needed to be replaced which also seems to be more frequent than should be the case seem to cost twice as much (from one of the local auto parts stores) than rotors for other brands of automobiles with some notable exceptions. Also, of late, I have begun to have additional incidences of the brake caliper pistons beginning to stick and freeze up meaning I will soon be replacing brake caliper assemblies.I will tell you that I emailed this letter to Hyundai Customer Care and told them that I would give them a week to respond before I sent it to everyone on my email lists and published it as widely as possible over the internet. Customer care did call me a few days later. All they could offer was a case number that indicated that this would be routed to the appropriate offices for consideration on future models. They offered no assistance regarding any of my issues with my Hyundais nor was there any hint of doing so in the future. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they wasted my time and theirs with a phone call. Basically they called to inform me of the case number which is useless since they have no intention of doing anything. The lady who called me obviously had no authority or power to do anything. When I suggested that she put me through to the President of the company, she told me that there was no phone number for the corporate office although I was welcome to contact them by mail. According to her, not even Hyundai Customer Service has a number for the corporate offices in California. A couple of weeks later, another Customer Care Representative, Brian, called me. Again, it was a waste of both of our times. He did offer to send me some discount coupons for the needed repairs on the 2007 sun visors. I guess since that did not satisfy me and I plan to broadcast this letter as far and wide as possible, I never received any discount coupons.Once again, (as stated above with respect to the oil and transmission pans on the 2007 Hyundai) their primary response was, I am sorry you are unhappy with our product. In essence, their response is, We really dont care about our customers, we just try to make them think we do! They evidently have learned what P.T. Barnum proclaimed many years ago, There is a sucker born every minute. What he was saying is that companies like Hyundai dont need to care about customers like me because there are plenty more where I came from. I just hope you are not one of them like I was. My bottom line is DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!! THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT, LIKE THEIR CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, IS PATHETIC AT BEST AND ESSENTIALLY NON-EXISTENT. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!!Please feel free to forward this to anyone and everyone you know so they too can be forewarned before it is too late for them unless you are trying to get even with someone for what he or she did to you.

Hyundais look great. But they are like a beautiful apple that is rotten inside. This is concerning a 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE Turbo. I have owned Hondas all my life, and have been extremely happy with their reliability. I had a Honda Civic that I sold at 115000 miles and the only maintenance I had to do was change the oil, muffler, and brakes. I then had an Acura RSX which I traded in with 92000 miles where I only had to change the oil and brakes. My next vehicle was a Honda Accord which I sold with 184000 miles on it. Again, the only maintenance I had to do was oil and brakes. I was going to purchase another Honda, but I fell in love with the styling and the horsepower of the Hyundai Sonata Turbo. I had reservations about purchasing a Hyundai because I remembered the poor quality of Hyundai vehicles throughout the 90s. I decided to take a leap of faith and buy a certified pre-owned which came with the 60k bumper to bumper and 100k powertrain warranty. I figured if Hyundai offered this type of warranty, they must build quality vehicles. My vehicle had 41k miles on it when I purchased it. I have had the car 2 years now and have had nothing but problems with it. The Carfax report showed this vehicle had the Lower control arms replaced (before I purchased it). Since I have purchased it I have had the following problems.46771 miles - Transmission Sensor failure caused the transmission to jump between 2nd and 4th gear and also cause the engine to shift very hard with a big thud. 48619 miles - The Engine failed and the motor long block was replaced. 48886 miles - Coolant was leaking. Replaced hose clamp. 49216 miles - Check engine light came on. Code p0076. Pin 1 was not connecting to solenoid so this was corrected.Somewhere around this time, I called Hyundai to complain about the poor quality of this vehicle. I was assigned to a specialist who was going to help assess why my vehicle was constantly in the repair shop. I do not recall his name. He called me to tell me he had spoken with the service Manager at AutoFair Hyundai in Manchester, NH where I purchased the vehicle. The specialist was unapologetic about my problems and treated me like I was wasting his time. In fact he ranks as possible the worst company representative I have dealt with in my lifetime. He said everything checked out and they did their due diligence with the vehicle. I informed the gentleman that I wanted a new vehicle. He scoffed at the notion. He stated that I had a warranty to cover anything wrong with the car. This was not satisfactory to me because my time was valuable and if the vehicle was malfunctioning at 46k miles, what would happen as the parts aged? The vehicle I purchased was clearly not manufactured properly. He basically told me again that the warranty was in place and that is all I would get. I informed the specialist that I am a recruiter who speaks with over 100 people per week and I would make sure to tell everyone about the poor quality and poor customer service that Hyundai provided. He said, thats fine and the call ended. Clearly this gentleman did not care about me or my situation and didnt care that Hyundai made a very poor quality vehicle.Continuing on with the repairs made to this vehicle. 51670 miles - Rattling when traveling in the city. Stabilizer end link replaced. 58285 creaking when turning. Axle joints replaced. This was all performed under warranty. It didnt cost me anything monetarily, but it did cost me a lot of time taking the car to the dealer and having to get rides to and from the dealership. Sometimes I waited for the vehicle if it was only going to be a couple hours.Since the warranty expired, I have had to replace the sway bar links at 74000 miles due to rattling when driving over bumps. The creaking that was supposed to be fixed by the replacement of the axle joints has gotten worse. I believe the strut mounts are the culprit. In addition, when I start the vehicle in the morning, the engine is having a bit of trouble turning over and is shaking for the first 10 seconds or so. Also, when I start the engine, there is a rush of liquid in the dashboard. I would venture to guess this is due to a failing heater core. Another issue is the transmission is downshifting into 4th gear very hard. The vehicle now has 80500 miles. It is acting like a vehicle with 180500 miles.More repairs at 80500 miles. Housing around the thermostat was replaced due to leaking coolant. Tube leading to oil filter was cracked and leaking oil. Engine head warped. Hyundai doesnt care about its customers. The warranty is bogus. The technicians diagnosing the issues at the dealerships have very little knowledge of the vehicles and take forever to diagnose issues - at the cost of $125 per hour. Beautiful design, very poor quality.

We own a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We check and change the oil regularly because
We own a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We check and change the oil regularly because there are numerous reports of Hyundai engine failure and seized Hyundai engines, for no known reason. Two weeks ago the Sonata engine seized. The dealer in York PA claims it had no oil however, my wife had topped it off 7-10 days earlier. Then my son checked the oil 3 days before the Sonata engine seized. It had oil.Do not buy a 2011 Sonata or any year Sonata. Google engine problems Hyundai Sonata. There are literally thousands of reported Hyundai engine failure. And there is a class action lawsuit. In addition it is a cheaply made vehicle. The fans squeak, the seats squeak, the Torque steer is outrageous; the Sonata has the worst torque steer of any front wheel car Ive driven. Weve had to invest over $5500 in this cheap car over the past few months. The used Sonata engine cost $3,100 and the York PA dealer gave us exactly 3 months or 3000 miles warranty. I will post my receipts in a few days. Stay away from Hyundai and do not buy a Sonata.

I purchased my Hyundai Tucson when I lived in MA. I moved to NH a few month
I purchased my Hyundai Tucson when I lived in MA. I moved to NH a few months ago and now need to register my car there. I went to the DMV, filed the necessary paperwork, and the state sent this request in, as that is their process. This was in mid February. I received a phone call on March 14th from a representative from Hyundai that they needed me to call them back to confirm my new address. I called them back that evening. I gave them my account number and my new address. I was told that was all they needed and they could now start the process. I contacted the state of NH on March 21st to see if they received the title yet, and they said they had not, and they suggested that I call Hyundai to get an update.I called them that same day and I was told that the note in the system said they were waiting for me to call them back, which made no sense because I had done just that a week ago. I was also told that they could not give me any updates because thats what the note in the system says and if I call and speak to someone else, they will tell me the same thing. I waited two days and called back for an update. I got the same response and this time, I was told that the state of MA was holding things up because the title is an electronic title.Well, I had my insurance agent then contact the state of MA once I received that update and the state told her that Hyundai never sent in the request. So, of course, at this point I am livid. I called Hyundai back again and I was once again told about the note in the computer, even though at this point I had called 3 or 4 times. This new person that I spoke to now tells me that what is causing the issue is that the state of NH sent in the paperwork that I signed, instead of me sending it in. What?!It has now been 6 weeks and I am told that it could be another four weeks due to the process at Hyundai. I am outraged at this. The process should have been kicked off on March 14th when I called back with the information they were requesting. I dont understand how here it is April 3rd and they still havent even sent in the request to MA for the electronic title? Its really a simple matter. NH just needs the title so they can turn it into a NH title because that’s where I live now. I moved with my fiancé. He filed his paperwork the same day as me, the state sent it to his lien holder same day, and he was l set as of March 21st. His lien holder didnt give him any problems. They just processed the request as they should have.As soon as this is resolved, I am refinancing my loan with my fiancé’s lien holder. I am very unhappy with Hyundai Motor Finance and I would never recommend them to anyone. They have lost my business for sure.

Ive tried multiple times to use the Blue Link Guidance system on my 2015 So
Ive tried multiple times to use the Blue Link Guidance system on my 2015 Sonata, but 95% of the time it fails to give the correct address back, or it cant even find it. It will sit there saying something like connecting / searching and find nothing. Then it reverts back to say a destination. My wife says give it up, it never works and before I can even get it to the say a destination she has pulled it up on her cell phone with Google voice commands and Google maps. Ive sent several complaints to Hyundai, and nothing. Very disappointing. Unless something changes and soon I wouldnt suggest purchasing it.

My 2012 Hyundai Veloster sunroof shattered while sitting in my garage. When I called Hyundai the lady that I spoke with stated she doesn’t know how that could just happen. Then tell me someone will contact me in about 5 to 7 business days. I have no vehicle to drive and they didn’t seem to be too big of a hurry or concerned about this defect.

I really should have taken Hyundai up on their return policy! October, 2017
I really should have taken Hyundai up on their return policy! October, 2017 I purchased a new Hyundai Tucson Sport. Salesperson told me that vehicle had Bluelink with remote start and all other features! Waited for car after purchase (5 hours by the way) and took it home. Tried to register Bluelink, only to be told after an hour that the vehicle is not equipped with Bluelink. Phone call to dealership (should have returned it)... they agreed to install a remote start. They installed a rather goofy remote start. It actually went off when I entered the car to try and drive. Long story short, after numerous problems with the car not recognizing the key fob and the alarm randomly going off, they removed the remote start (as they could find no other cause).Fast forward, now my year old car will turn over upon push start, and simply turn off. This has happened over 8 times now. Taken it in to service department and told we cant get it to do that, we cant find anything wrong. Next time, just have it towed. The next time, 20 minutes trying to start - call for tow truck (cancel class I have to teach because I am late). Tow truck arrives & says I have to move your car and what do you know, the car starts! I drove it directly to dealership. I told them keep it, drive it, find out what is wrong and fix it. That was Tuesday. Saturday, nothing - I went and got the car back. Emailed Hyundai Consumer Affairs - given case number with someone will contact you within 3-5 business days. Today, car wont start! Late for work and car still sitting in my driveway! I took video and forwarded to dealership service dept and Hyundai Consumer Affairs indicating I want a car to drive (as I am paying for one that is not driveable) until they find out what is wrong and fix it! That was 3 hours ago... still no phone call or reply of any kind! This was my first and last Hyundai purchase. I will never buy Hyundai - and may end up having to sue! So frustrated!!! I should NOT have to ask for a car to drive, when my car that is under warranty - keeps being inoperable.

On 8/8/2017 my Hyundai Elantra vehicle started clunking as a way getting on
On 8/8/2017 my Hyundai Elantra vehicle started clunking as a way getting on to the highway. After pulling over, I saw a huge puddle of oil that was leaking out of my vehicle. After having it towed and inspected I was told that something let loose in the engine and blew a hole right through. This was after only going through a puddle but then having all parts affect cleaned out. A week later this is what happens. I have never owned a vehicle where the engine had to be replaced so quickly. It is only a 2015 with 109,000 miles approximately. I had a previous 2010 Hyundai that surpassed that mileage. I believe that something is defective in the way they have made these engines in newer year models. Everyone should be aware of this before purchasing because I am now spending thousands of dollars after only 2 years of owning the vehicle on top of being stuck with a significant amount due on my car loan.

I am Neeraj **. On 31st Dec 2018 I purchased a brand new Hyundai Verna car
I am Neeraj **. On 31st Dec 2018 I purchased a brand new Hyundai Verna car with 3 years of insurance including bumper to bumper insurance. My car number is **. I have purchased this car because of brand name, reliability and trust in Hyundai Cars. Last year on June 2019 I took the insurance claim because I had a minor accident with my car. I immediately sent my car to the Joshi Hyundai Agency (Chandigarh) for repairment. They changed few components i.e. driver side door, One Side mirror and re-painted the bumper (Front) and bonnet. Unfortunately, the vehicle has not been satisfactory because when I reached home, I saw the colour of bonnet and bumper (newly painted) was not matched with the entire car. Further, When I raised the complaint they accept and ask to leave the car for few more days. Though, I rely on my car for daily transportation but I have managed with them. After few days and during my next visit to Hyundai Service Centre for inspect/collect my car, I saw that the same problem was still there “colour mismatching”. I talked to them, but instead of listening and understanding me, they ignored me. That was Such a harassing moment for me. Even they denied for the bill and their comments were “We have solved your problem and there is no need to provide you the final invoice/bill. Please take this gate pass (attached for your ref.)”. After that, somehow I able to connect Company’s Concerned Person Mr. Gaurav ** (RPSH(NRO3)), He saw my car and agreed that yes, the problem is still there in color (i.e. colour mismatch problem). Then he requested me to visit the Mohali Branch Of Joshi Hyundai service centre and asked to leave my car for few days (According to him, there is no technical staff for painting of car at Chandigarh Branch). I have managed third time and left my car in agency in Jan 2020 To get the problem resoved. But, now this time i found several new problems that was unexpected. Instead of changing the colour of bumper and bonnet as required, they also changed the colour (repainted) of the left side back door and running board (left side) without my permission and moreover did not tell me, but was noticed by my own. I believe, prior information is right of customer/owner nowadays and your authorized service centres must be aware about it.Also, they break several locks (Rear Bumper) of my car. This is unbearable for a customer. Your company harrassed me several times along with unsatisfactory services which is against a consumer rights. After that I manage to contact Mr Manoj ** (National Customer Relation Head) over telephonic conversation and requested him to get my car done from some professional service center as Joshi Hyundai staff and Mr. Gaurav ** were unable to satisfied me. He assured me of problem redressal this time and requested personally to leave my car again to Joshi Hyundai Mohali Branch. As I had bad experience with Joshi Hyundai number of times, I requested him (Mr Manoj **) again to get it done from some other service center. But with assurance he requested me again to leave the car, I left my car 4th time at Joshi Hyundai Mohali Branch on 05 May 2020. This time they repainted only running board (left side) and replaced rear bumper (Whose locks were broken by them last time) and refused to repaint the mismatched parts. This was extreme now. Then on complaint, they (Mr Nittin **) have again requested for the car for repainting dated on 21st Jun 2020 but because of the lot of harassment, I did not visit. In last one and half year, I drive my car around 15000 Kms and it seems that this is 8-10 year old vehicle because of this colour issue. Either they don’t have the high quality paint facility or they get it one from 3rd party/vendor. You can see the paint quality and welding spots in attached pictures (for new painted doors).Hyundai is second largest manufacturer in Automobile sector after Maruti Suzuki in India. I have long been a customer of Hyundai Cars and considered that Hyundai is a high quality brand. But, I am damn sure that this kind of attitude/negligence will definitely destroy the biake my car back and refund my valuable money along with interest as I am not willing to regain anymore mental, financial and physical harassment.Neeraj
