2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited AWD EV Review & Test Drive

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are gaining a lot of attention as of late for many reasons, including the high price of gas now. However, when it comes to captivating onlookers and proving to have an EV that follows a different path than the rest, Hyundai seems to have the jump on everyone else just by looking at vehicles like the all-new Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The new 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is something fresh that takes on a new retro styling approach but has the necessary substance underneath to be a welcomed EV with surprising performance and build quality that rises above some of its long-standing competition.
Utilizing a platform that’s shared with other EVs in the Kia and Genesis landscape, the Ioniq 5 is unique in its own right in that it has a boxy Tetris-like look with straight-lined angles, squared-off LED lighting elements, and pixelated LED lights out back giving it somewhat of a retro look that garners plenty of attention. The rather long wheelbase gives it a smooth ride quality while the interior proportions are spacious and put such a vehicle in a space where it can legitimately compete with hatchbacks, sedans, and crossover utility vehicles. You’ll certainly be noticed in the new Ioniq 5, especially the Digital Teal-painted test vehicle of mine that appears to change colors depending on which direction you look at it.
Performance and Driving Character
Powering the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 are a variety of choices from the base standard range model’s rear axle motor producing 168 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque to power the rear wheels with a range of 225 miles out of its 58-kWh battery pack. Moving from the base standard range rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model there’s an extended range RWD model with 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque that has a range of 303 miles from a larger 77.4-kWh battery, which is the highest range option for the Ioniq 5. For my top-trim test vehicle, you have an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup that only comes in “extended range” form with the 77.4-kWh battery but two motors work to power both axles for a total of 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque and get an estimated range of 256 miles on a full charge.
Having the AWD Ioniq 5 and the two motors, one on each axle, there’s a substantial amount of grunt in having the instant torque from a stop yielding a shocking 4.5-second run to 60 mph. There are a total of three drive modes, Eco, Normal, and Sport, in addition to a Snow mode that can be enabled if you hold down the drive mode button that’s mounted on the flat bottom steering wheel. In the Eco mode, the vehicle is more reserved and full power output is never achieved even when you floor the throttle. In Normal mode most of the power is accessible, but in Sport mode, it feels like full throttle is the real deal. The steering feel is mostly numb and on the light side even in Sport mode.
There’s a myriad of regenerative settings cleverly accessed by steering wheel paddles with 3 levels of regeneration, in addition to an OFF setting, an automatic setting, and an i-Pedal setting for one-pedal driving. Using Level 1 of the regen seems more natural while Level 2, Level 3, and the i-Pedal (1-pedal driving) modes enact the brake lights upon letting off the throttle with a substantial amount of deceleration. The i-Pedal setting is a true use of just the throttle and will bring you to a complete stop upon letting off as if you were moderately applying the brakes. The overall feel of the braking from the motor’s regeneration to the friction brakes feels seamless most times. There is a bit of a learning curve when you do utilize the regen levels outside of Level 1 and the Automatic mode, which smarly adds regen braking automatically at varying levels when it detects you approaching a vehicle in front via the front radar. In the automatic mode, when a vehicle starts to speed up the regen braking automatically lets off. More smart thinking, here!
Out on the open road, the Ioniq 5 feels well planted with a smooth suspension setup from its fixed dampers that often has a little reverberation when going over road dips and rises. Otherwise, the Ioniq 5 handles surprisingly well, which is in part due to its surprisingly large wheels and tires, uniquely styled 20-inch wheels wrapped in 255-width Michelin Primacy tires. The Ioniq 5 feels a bit heavy, which may be part of the deception from its looks as it appears to be a smaller vehicle until you see it up close or jump inside. There’s a shocking large mass in the Ioniq 5, one that weighs 4,662 pounds in my test vehicle’s configuration.
Electric Consumption and Efficiency
The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 falls in line with its competition when it comes to efficiency. However, where the Ioniq 5 excels is its ability to charge faster than most taking advantage of its 800-volt architecture legitimately taking only 18 minutes to charge from 10% state of charge up to 80% using a 350 kW DC fast charger. I was able to test out the charging ability of the Ioniq 5 at a local Electrify America charging station where I saw a peek of 236 kW and sustained such a peek for just over 10 minutes.
After nearly reaching an 80% state of charge the kW rating started to decline to about 128 kW and then taper off around an 88% state of charge. I did notice that during my charging session, which took place in 88-degree (F) weather, there was a welcomed sustained wattage to keep on pace for a full 100% charge from 80% in under 25 minutes. Usually, you see the 80% to 100% charge cycle to take an hour or more in many new EVs currently on the market.
Hyundai has changed the outlook and perception of EVs in having a vehicle that can charge so fast under ideal conditions while using a 350 kW DC fast charger, which is often hard to come by in the current state of our poor EV charging infrastructure. However, Electrify America and many other companies hope to change that very soon – which is greatly needed if we plan on having EVs fit into the traditional American lifestyle.
Hyundai provides a wall charger for those times you may need to “slowly” top-off your charge or add a few miles when you don’t have access to a Level 2 charger. Charge times using the included charger plugged into a standard 110-volt household outlet at the max 12-amp setting you’ll add about 3 to 5 miles of range for each hour of charging. If you do plan to use the maximum 12-amp setting you must manually change it from the default 6-amp setting on the box of the plug-in wall charger unit.
As far as MPG-equivalents, my AWD Ioniq 5 gets an EPA-estimated 110 MPGe city, 87 MPGe highway, and 98 MPGe combined. Those figures improve slightly with the RWD lower trims (city/hwy/comb. – 127/94/110 standard range RWD – 132/98/114 extended range RWD). I often saw an average of 2.8 kW per mile around town and as much as 3.1 kW per mile on the highway.
Interior and Tech
As a mainstream EV, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 embarks on a journey to help pivot the thinking surrounding EVs. I can say with certainty that the needle has been moved by vehicles like the Ioniq 5 in having the proper tech, interior accommodations, and welcomed driving character. To top it off, the interior of the Ioniq 5 is inviting and mostly premium in its accommodations and equipment. There’s a vast amount of seating space up front and rear seats that slide forward and back and recline a good amount. The flat floor aids to make the cabin feel airy and accommodating.
Using the matching-sized 12.3-inch screens for the digital gauge cluster and infotainment touchscreen and user-friendly interface found in most modern Hyundai vehicles add to the appeal of the Ioniq 5 with no unwanted surprises. There’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration but only through a USB connection.
There are several core function physical buttons but below are touch capacitive buttons for the automatic dual-zone climate controls, including access to the climate menu and ventilated and heated seats setting. The touch capacitive buttons are easy to reach but do require an extra second of focus to ensure you are pressing the correct area, which may take a bit of focus off the road for the driver.
There’s a neat option of using a relaxation seating position on the driver’s seat that can recline far back with a power leg rest that folds out, which is thought to offer a comfy position for when you are charging up the vehicle. Otherwise, the seating positions are good and comfy for five inside the Ioniq 5.
Cargo space is somewhat on the smaller side out back without much extra under-floor storage. Also, under the hood there’s no large frunk (front trunk) storage that many EVs include, only a small plastic opening bin with limited space.
I did enjoy the proximity key function for automatically unlocking the doors upon walking up to a locked vehicle. Doing so automatically popped out the door handles as they are normally flush with the body to prevent additional drag or wind resistance when driving. You can manually push and grab the handles as there is no need to worry about failing of the mechanism. Again, more smart thinking on Hyundai’s part.
Safety
In terms of safety, there’s a full array of the traditional and expected active safety features (blind-spot monitor and view monitor, lane-keeping assist, color heads-up display, 360-degree surround camera, forward collision alert/emergency braking, etc), in addition to having Hyundai’s latest Highway Driving Assist feature that uses smart cruise control with the lane-centering system and a lane changing feature. The system still requires that you keep your hands on the steering wheel.
Price
The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 fits nicely alongside gas-powered and EV competition with a starting price of $39,950 for the SE standard range RWD model. From there, things ramp up slightly and you can look at paying as much as $55,920 for the top-shelf Ioniq 5 Limited AWD trim of my test vehicle, which includes an inland freight and handling charge of $1,225.

I was traveling 81n when out of nowhere my car shuts off, without warning. I drift as far as I can up the exit ramp and to safety. My car was towed to the local Hyundai dealership which is Freysinger Hyundai of Mechanicsburg. It was the weekend so service was closed until Monday. Monday I contact them and my insurance to see what is going to be done to fix my car. They tell me that my engine didnt have oil in it and its locked up. The total cost would be $9,500 to fix it. I asked insurance if they covered it and they said, it had nothing to do with them. I then call and tell service that I have a warranty til 100,000 miles that should covered it. They tell me I dont have coverage because Im the second owner. Which I am but paid extra to be covered. They tell me theres no record and that I have to call the dealership that I bought it from.I did that and they said, we are all Hyundai, they should have the same system info. So I had to physically take them my information showing that I had coverage. They then tell me an adjuster has to come in and look over the car to see if its covered. I never received a call back after he comes in so after a week I call them to see whats up. I was told it wont be covered and that the bolts in my turbo were removed, so its my fault this happened. Furious now because they tell me I have to take care of the engine out of pocket ($9,500) as well as a car payment loan ($19,200) on top of full coverage insurance.I think they should be reliable for the issue because for 1) I have coverage and all my paperwork, 2) Ive never touched my turbo or had anyone else touch my car because I dont know about them. To me it seems like they have issues with upholding their end of the warranty so they say its your fault so they dont lose out on money. They have a serious issues that need to be fixed. I see the recall now so thats a start. I contacted Hyundais Corp Office about my car being a 13 but was manufactured April 2, 2012 in Alabama only to be told your car isnt on the recall. Anyone that can help me please email me, Im trying to find a lawyer to help as well.

My warranty was voided by Hyundai because of their authorized dealership installing an alarm system without my knowledge. I was informed of this after I took my car in because of cranking issues, gas smell and car jumping into different geals by itself. After the dealership pulled and worked on everything on my car, they sent a field engineer who told Hyundai to void my warranty. Now I have a car that I cant drive because of safety issues and not one representative from Hyundai cared that my car was is unsafe to drive while Im still paying monthly payments on the car. Its amazing how Hyundai voids a warranty after their authorized dearlership install parts when you didnt ask them too. I eventually was sent an official letter from Consumer Affairs stating that they paid me for this service. Well Hyundai, if you paid me for this service, Im still waiting for the Check!!! Dont TRUST Hyundai. As there commerical says, They shoot straight with their customer. Yes they do, with lies to avoid their obligations.

I took out a 2 year lease on a Hyundai Tucson. It was extended to 3 years because of lockdown. The contract mileage was 10000/pa but I returned the car with less than 20000 on the clock. No consideration was given for the reduced mileage. A lot of my friends leased vehicles with other companies but were given discounts for their reduced mileage. This was the only company that I have used who have not made allowances for this. It is the last time that I will ever use them again. Its a shame as I loved the car!!!

First of all. My first mistake was buying a used 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The car was OK but then after some time the car started stalling and I had my 4 year old daughter with me. Just when I was getting off the freeway it stalled on me twice. The car would make a clicking noise. Took it to the dealership and they said it had to do something with the steering wheel after I paid for a diagnostic check. Anyways it was too much and they said it didnt affect the car. I only ended up purchasing a new battery. Then my car totally gives up on me and stalls. Doesnt want to turn on anymore. Had to get it towed to Hyundai in Cerritos on the last week of February.It needs a new engine and hyundai is taking care of it and a few other cars with the same issue. And its been quite some time now and still have not received the engine and no update on whats going on with my car. But they did call me 3/25/17 to offer me a SPECIAL offer for this recall campaign due to the inconvenience. And at the dealership they hit me with yes you can get a new car BUT you need to put $3000 down. I understand I would be receiving a good deal (employee discount) but this is not helpful at all. Im struggling not having a car and not getting a loaner. and I reviewed all the complaints... its unbelievable. I should have done research before going with Hyundai. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

I bought this Hyundai Elantra new from the dealer on 2014. It doesnt even have 47000 miles and the passenger door handle paint, which is rarely used, is already peeled off and according to the dealer the body paint is already out of warranty (yeah! And they claim to have the best warranty). I just looked over the Internet and it was a court dismisses peeling paint class action against Hyundai on 2017, I dont know the reason this was dismissed but evidently they continue doing this sloppy body paint in all their cars, this and many others complaints from the customers with zero acceptability from Hyundai have convinced me that this is a company I cannot trust so this is gonna be my last Hyundai car.

A Class Action lawsuit was filed and reported settled in Feb 2013 and I am awaiting results. My experience with Hyundai has been the worst experience of any car company, and I am 61 years old. They are rude and arrogant. I will never own another Hyundai or Kia product... Ever!

Hyundai got my car, they have to replace my motor, they say they do not have a loaner and tell me to rent a car for two months and they will reimburse me. I have told them several times I cannot afford to do that and pay my car notes. They reached out to me with several lies but closed my account. They say someone will contact me after I contacted them again and its been a week and no one have reached out yet. If they would tell people ahead of time they have some things that goes wrong with the motor many people wouldnt waste time with Hyundai. But I with others will make sure no one else get helmed up like this because this is a burden that we carry without the care of Hyundai. So on every social media page, emails, and in our advertisements with the different companies we will mention how poorly Hyundai took care of us.

I bought a used Hyundai Sonata 2011 in Oct. 2011. The previous owner had around 25,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil and also the brakes on the car since I have purchased it. It was running well with no problems (no indicator lights or warning lights ever came on), and of course there was no noise, just running as usual. I have put around 16,500 miles on it and no problem. On Dec. 22, 2012, it just wouldnt turn on, so I thought it was my battery. We asked for a boost but it still didnt work. I called Hyundai and stated they would get it towed in. That was on Dec. 24th. The tow company decided to give it a boost first to see if he could get it started but he also said the battery was too drained. I waited for a call from the mechanic and on Dec.26th, I was told he needed my authorization to change out the battery that it was no good. I asked if it was covered under my warranty with Hyundai or even the extended warranty I got. He stated no. So, I said replace it. The following day, I called for my car to get picked up and he states he needed to talk to me and said my car still didnt start and I would need a new engine due to no oil in the engine. He told me that the car looked like it had never been maintained, not once ever. I told him I did, but I didnt have the receipts to prove the oil changes. So he told the Hyundai Company that he denied the coverage due to neglect on the car. And I told him I also have an extended warranty which I told him to call. He didnt. I had too.I called a day later since he never called back to let me know anything. He stated my extended warranty wouldnt cover it either and I asked why. He stated it was because he denied the warranty due to neglect of the car. It’s funny when no lights or noises occurred without any indication that there could be something wrong, and all the extra coverage I got to avoid any problems. Yesterday, as I was pulling into a parking spot, the front splash shield guard under my car, got stuck by the parking stopper made out of cement and as I pull back out, the splash shield broke off at the right side. I took the car to the Hyundai dealership to get it repaired. Well, it is going to be over $1,400.00 lots of damage for a little accident that should not had happened, if they would had disclose the height of the car. Just because no one told me that the car is very low to the ground and the splash shield may get stuck and break off as you pull back.

My husband was in a serious automobile accident and passed away because of the injuries in October. He leased a Genesis and the lease was up in October. When I turned in the car I ended up owing over 2500 because of mileage overage fees. I had wrote the CEO of Hyundai and the President of Hyundai finance to waive the fees. We incurred the overage charges because we had to go see my critically injured husband in the hospital and drove over 100 miles each day. They would not waive the fees and submitted the fees to collection which lowered my credit score. I have incurred medical expenses due to my husband death and had to sell my home. I am unable to get an apartment thanks to Hyundai. My credit score was lowered and I did not qualify. I did pay this bill in full and I still had my credit score lowered. I will never buy another Hyundai again. My husband and I did love our cars but I was just blown away with how heartless these people are. We have leased two cars from Hyundai and I bought my car. They clearly got quite a bit of money from us already but they did not have the heart to help out a widow who had medical bills and is just trying to survive. In fact I am trying to figure out where I am going to live right now. I had a friend who also lost her husband and the car dealer waived the overage fees. It was not Hyundai. I wish I bought my car from another dealership. Heartless, Heartless, Heartless and Greedy.

The car itself is wonderful. I have a hydrogen fuel cell Nexo. The company is terrible. Zero stars. Worst experience. I had my car towed to this location by roadside assistance from Hyundai, due to screw that lodged into my tire, causing it to flatten. This could have been a quick fix and I was told they give roadside tow-ins priority. Hyundai roadside assistance was great but did not check or mention my car model is not serviceable at all locations. I now know. The dealer held my car hostage for 4 days, no call back (left about 6 messages) until we called Sales department on 3rd day, and they spoke rudely to my friend who was trying to help me out (dont call service department they will never pick up or call back, go to sales they will pick up). I decided on the 4th day (Tues morning) after they told me it would be ready by Tuesday morning, to just simply show up and they said it would was not ready and would be ready in 5 hours. So I said I would sit there and wait, and when I finally decided to call another tow truck and told them to pull my car out, they said the tire was there and they were going to fix it now. Funny how that worked out. I also have an app on my phone that tells me the location of the car. It somehow was in SF not in Richmond when I checked on Saturday, but was back in the dealership on Sunday. Not sure if someone took it for a joyride, but after the non-communication, I wouldnt put it past them. Avoid this place at all cost. I love the Nexo, hate Hyundai the company and will be selling my car soon to avoid this headache again.

When I got the vehicle, it drove just perfect. It cost me over $500.00 to fix the front ends. No noise and felt very firm. About 2 weeks after, the noise started again like it was never fixed. This last time, Im told it is the driver side seat belt. When it came on I was under 60,000. My mechanic thought it came on because he had disconnected the battery and he reset it. Four days later, it came on again, right after I went over 60,000 miles and was no longer under warranty. The dealer did not have the part in stock and could not get me in to service it right away. I was leaving in 2 days to make a long drive, which is 6000 miles total.

Hyundai is an unethical company. I own a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. At 52,000 miles, we need a new transmission! What kind of car needs a new transmission at 52,000 miles?? The mechanic at the dealership even told us that we may have received a faulty transmission because they shouldnt need replacing at 52,000 miles. Our warranty was 2 months out of warranty so the dealership was optimistic that headquarters would still pay for the transmission and service because our car had such low miles and had so recently gone out of warranty. After the Hyundai dealership went back and forth with Hyundai headquarters, they told us they were unwilling to cover the cost of the transmission! The customer service was absolutely horrible. I have never had such a bad experience with a car company in my life. Hyundai should treat people more ethically instead of trying to squeeze me of every drop of money out of consumers they can.

I leased a Genesis (2016) on 1/1/16. It had numerous electrical problems. The main problem was the dash display would malfunction. It would be blacked out completely, when driving or backing up. Sometimes it would stay on after the car turned off and locked. Other issues: All lights go out in the interior and headlights while driving at night. * Drivers side window would only go up 1 inch or down 1 inch at a time randomly. ** Battery discharge error randomly goes off every 30 seconds. ** Strange sound in back right of car, possible gear malfunction. ** Dash display malfunction. *** Possibly fixed. Did not happen again while I owned the car. ** Never fixed. Could not find the problem or never fixed. I had to file a BBB case under the lemon law of North Carolina. Hyundai fought me the whole way and lost. They had to buy back this car. Communication is horrific with their Consumer Affairs department. They did pay most of my case but still owe me money. Ridiculous I have to keep calling them. They never return my phone calls. Ill never buy a Hyundai again personally. I also plan on sharing my message with anyone so at least they heard my truth before you bought a Hyundai. Just so all know this message is 100% truth and 0% embellishment. It’s very annoying especially while you are driving. First, it was the passenger’s visor and then a few months later the driver’s visor. At first I thought that the kids were just admiring themselves but then my side started to do the same thing. Thats when I knew it was an equipment problem. Hyundai fixed both visors because they were still under warranty. Now Im having issues with the ESC light coming on and thats why Im doing research tonight. Thanks.

On May 17, 2012, I purchased two Hyundai cars - a 2012 Sonata and a 2012 Accent. When I tried to register as the owner on their website, I got the message: Email address already entered. I tried to reset my password approximately 15 times and when I would try to log on using the password they sent, I would get the message: Incorrect email or password. I talked to Hyundai representatives many times with no success. I found out the dealer where I purchased the cars had entered my email address wrong and only they could change it. I also found out they had entered a PIN and a security question which I knew nothing about. Now, after about fifteen phone calls, they refuse to talk to me.They say it is my computer but I have tried on three different computers and have run Microsoft diagnostics on my computer without any problems. I can log onto their financial website without problems as well as all other secure sites. At this point, they will not answer my emails or phone calls. I cannot log on to blue link, and I cannot register as owner of the Accent. They claim that they can log on using my email and the reset password. I dont believe they are being truthful.

I had my 2007 Hyundai in to my local mechanic for an oil change and they told me I needed a battery. I decided to have my husband change it in order to save some money. I turned out that the battery was okay but the terminal was not closing all the way. We went to several auto parts stores but none had the correct part. We contacted our local Hyundai dealer and they said that part was not stocked or sold. We would have to buy a wiring harness that connected the battery terminal to the battery post and then to the starter at a cost of $380. I said that was absurd and would not buy it. Luckily, my husband is handy and was able to fit a terminal with some sort of connection to the wiring harness. Because my husband had to put a non-Hyundai part on there is no cover on the positive battery terminal, I dont know if this could be dangerous or not; if you are expecting the protection of the cover, its not there.

Hyundai came through for my daughter after about two months. On July 23, 2013, I wrote a review about her clutch problems. Less than a week after she paid approximately $1200.00 and was told nothing was covered by warranty despite the fact that other technicians were saying it wasnt her fault and the work and parts should be covered by warranty, her clutch went again, same problem. This time, they issued her a complimentary rental, replaced all the parts, and reimbursed her for two thirds of the initial cost. By rights, the full amount should have been reimbursed but by that time we were just glad to be done with the whole matter and relatively satisfied with the end results even though it took quite a bit of doing to get there.

Prior to this my Sonatas motor seized up and stopped work with only 60K miles and at that time the company did not want to honor the warranty and also gave me a very hard time about the loaner so much that I had to rent a car myself. I later contacted someone at the corporate office in CA and finally received a full refund. Now my motor goes out with no warranty at 154K miles. Send the car to my mechanic for repairs. Out of pocket 15.000+ only to find out that there was nothing left but to replace the motor according to my VIN number. This is what Hyundai motors said and was also told that money I spent would be reimburse in 90 days. Well its been 100 + days without even a courtesy call?

My engine light came on when the car had about 70000 km. I checked and no oil. I towed the car in and after a week, Streetsville Hyundai told me that it was the oil pump building up pressure and forcing all the oil out of the engine. They assured me that replacing it will solve the problem. BTW, during this repair, I was also told that the alternator belt and the steering belt were all cracked and needs replacement at my cost. I have never heard of this happening in a car that is only 3 years old. 2 weeks later I noticed the car had problem picking up speed while changing gear and would rev to 5-6K before kicking in. 3 days later, the engine light came on again and no oil again. This time apparently the whole engine needs to be replaced because something in it is completely broken when they took the engine apart. After taking my whole car apart for diagnostic, I was told that my clutch was also completely burned out because I was riding the clutch. This is my third standard cars. The first one lasted 11 years with almost 200 K without a new clutch. The second one was 8 years old with 160K when I traded in without ever changing clutch. They are machining my flywheel and changing only the clutch disk and wanted to charge me $500 for parts only. First of all, I am convinced that my driving habits were not responsible for the clutch burning and second parts only should not come anywhere close to $500. I am sure that the problem was caused by the engine. I checked and learned that if there is oil on the clutch, it can cause slippage and burn my clutch. Still arguing with Hyundai warranty. I have to agree with everyone that Hyundai warranty service is not very helpful at all when you call them to address the issue.

In October 2013, I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Unfortunately, I trusted my local dealer because Ive had a good relationship with them for four years. Thats no longer a true statement. While shopping, and let me say it was a 6-hour ordeal trying to purchase the car on day 1, I mentioned numerous times that I drive 200 miles round trip to work. I finally picked a car and had to wait hours to get into the finance office to firm it up. While waiting, I noticed that the sticker on the window said the car comes with an emergency tire puncture repair kit in lieu of spare. I stopped the deal and told the salesman I must have a spare tire and jack. Period. He assured me that theyd get me one, but told me it really wasnt necessary because the car comes with 5 years of roadside assistance. I asked him if we shouldnt amend the paper they had asked me to sign saying they didnt owe me anything. He assured me it wasnt necessary. When it was my turn in the finance office, I mentioned to that man that we had just discussed the fact that I must have a spare tire and he assured me that the salesman would take care of me. I signed up, trusting when I shouldnt have trusted. Let me state here that I told the salesman over and over again that I did not want this car unless there was a spare. Well, turns out they did not have the certificate of origination, so I had to wait several days. Because I changed my mind about using my old car as a trade in, I went back and re-did all the paperwork. Then they delivered the car to me - not with a full tank of gas, as promised by the salesman and the Hyundai car sticker. I asked where was the spare and the salesman had the gall to say, What spare? When I reminded him of our numerous conversations, he stated, I didnt tell you that. I didnt promise you a spare. That ensued in an argument, and it didnt end well. In fact, I was instantly sorry I had bought the car. My mistake. I should have immediately refused delivery and demanded to see the manager. We told the salesman to order me a tire, and he said it would cost over $300. Well, why didnt they offer to add one on for $300 when I was paying for the car? Again, he said to me, If you get a flat, just sit in the car, lock the doors, and call the 800 number for Roadside Assistance. More lies.I spoke with the manager the next day and he said they would split the cost with me 50/50. I told him I was furious about the lies I had been told, but 50/50 was the best he could do. Since I was willing to pay $300 the day prior, I told them fine. 50/50 was cheaper than I could buy it myself. Wrong again. When I got home, I started reading the owners manual and on page 10, in fine print, it said that roadside assistance is good for 5 years for everything EXCEPT flat tires when the person was provided with an emergency puncture kit.I had just cancelled my personal roadside assistance plan! How in the heck does Hyundai think a puncture kit is going to help if I have a flat 100 miles from home, or late at night when no garage is open? This is a safety hazard. Even worse, they are using unfair consumer trade practices. The big signs on the dealership wall saying 5 YEAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE sure dont have an asterisk and fine print below telling you what it doesnt cover. The salesman never once said they could not offer me a spare and jack as an option. In fact, he blatantly lied and said roadside assistance would cover me if I had a flat.Now let me tell you something Hyundai should understand. I would prefer to have NO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE and a spare tire than this pack of lies! They obviously didnt do any focus groups before they implemented this stupid marketing measure. They have lost me as a customer forever, and I believe a class action lawsuit is in order. As for the local dealer, they have lost my business. They sell Hyundais exclusively, so they better start praying for their business. They are going to learn that being disingenuous to customers in a small town will put them out of business more quickly than anything else. As for me, Hyundai sucks as a company. Id give anything to go back in time just a few days. Id rather give my purchasing dollars to a company with ethics.

Salesperson said my iPhone would work in the car. It does not. I sent an email to customer service. The form letter they sent back said they put what they feel the customer wants in the car. Really? Do you believe the customer doesn’t want to be able to use iPhones (really). And I mean any generation iPhone. I cannot use my phone GPS with Apple iplay or even my phone. Why would anyone not want to be able to use their iphone functions in a 2021 new car. No help or assistance from dealer or Hyundai. Will never buy a Hyundai again. They do not stand by their cars or even offer any type of resolution. Beware.

Take the car to Boulder Hyundai, they have no real idea what is wrong with it, replace injectors, debris in engine, they dont know why.... Wont release car as it could be unsafe, all 4 pistons misfiring so bad that the steering wheel pulls aggressively to the right. Supposedly they fix it, I am told if check engine light comes back on, stop car immediately and have it towed in, as it is dangerous to drive. Well Sept 7th, check engine light comes on again, steering wheel pulling aggressively again due to misfiring. I stop, have car towed in. Nalley Hyundai has had my car since 9/8/20. Replaced everything again, still same problem, they are in no rush to help, they have had my car for OVER 6 weeks, no clue whats wrong, I am completely at their mercy! Still making payments on car I cannot drive, they refuse to take it back and make it right. So I am paying on a car I have not driven in over 6 weeks and there is nothing I can do about it! There has been problems with the suspension on this 2007 Santa Fe since 2010 with very low mileage. It took 5 to 6 visits before the dealer would even admit a problem. Problems with tie rods, lower arm assembly, stabilizer links, lateral arms bilaterally with no resolution of clunking metal to metal sound from front of vehicle. Now that the car is out of warranty supposedly, the dealer conveniently finds the lower arm on the right needs replaced. Hyundai needs to admit to widespread suspension problems without dragging on until out of warranty. I still have 100,000 mile warranty with only 80,600 miles but supposedly, this is not a covered service even though it all started at 48,000 miles.

While returning from destination 50 miles from home, we stopped to take a break. My wife noticed that the rear bumper had detached from the right side of the car. I was unable to snap it back in and forced to drive back with it detached. Because of the wind caused from driving, the bumper (made of rubber) tore even more.I brought the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited into the Hyundai dealer in La Quinta. They examined it and took photos, Their position was that it was caused by an outside force and refused to cover it under warranty, I escalated to the Hyundai Southern Regional office. After several days, they contacted me and agreed with the dealer. This is BS because the only damage they saw on the bumper was some missing paint on the underside. I checked it out and there was no paint missing, the surface was smooth, not rough as it would be if it was scraped. The paint was missing because it was not completely painted underneath. I extremely disappointed and would never buy a Hyundai again, I think they are cheaply made. The exterior dents with even a minor bump from a parked car door.

The main issues I have with the vehicle are fairly minor, although some could potentially be a major issues. When creating a rear deck for transporting items, the rear passenger seats dont fold down perfectly flat. I ended up building my own slide-in deck to compensate for the slightly lifted rear passenger seats. The adaptive cruise control seems a bit laggy adapting, but that is probably why the manual says it cant be trusted if theres a difference in speed between vehicles over 35 mph.I also live in California where motorcycle lane splitting is legal. The problem is it can confuse the adaptive cruise control. Very frequently Ill be going 40 mph (rush hour traffic on a freeway) and a motorcyclist will blast by in between the lanes at 60+ mph. About 50% of the time the cruise control will start tracking the lane-splitting bike and suddenly accelerate, potentially causing my vehicle to smash into the vehicle ahead of it which is only going 40 mph. Fortunately, the cruise control has always been buggy enough so I typically keep it on a short leash anyway, ready to brake. But it is a potentially dangerous annoyance. Im not sure whether its just bad luck, but my Santa Fe has been broken into more in the first year of ownership than in all the other vehicles Ive had since I started driving 40+ years ago. Its probably because its new looking and its an SUV which has no lockable trunk. But here is the problem with the vehicle: In all cases when my vehicle has been broken into, Ive been less than 100 to 50 feet away and heard nothing. In the last instance, I heard glass breaking but no alarm. As far as I can tell the alarm is useless. The blinking light on the dash is just a bad joke. Im definitely looking into some aftermarket alarms now. If there had been an alarm, as it claims to have, then I would have been alerted and been able to stop the burglary. I know this to be true because I stopped a theft on my prior vehicle because its horn went off when the window was broken, and I ran right out and chased off the burglar before he was able to carry off anything.Also, although I know this a problem of all SUVs, it would be nice to have a secure, lockable cargo area. As it is, anyone breaking into the car can easily steal anything as there is no place to hide anything, except the glove compartment. Also, when I see vehicles that have been in rear-end accidents, the vehicle doing the rear-ending usually takes most of the damage, with a crumpled hood and such. When my Hyundai was rear-ended at low speed by a sedan half its size, my SUV somehow got most of the damage. The auto repair shop sent the insurance company a $5000 bill. Which it paid, but still that suggests a fairly serious bumper design issue. Even the first vehicle I owned from 1980, a Toyota Tercel, would have not sustained that much damage if it had been hit similarly in the rear. Of course it also had thick rubber bumpers, but still, this is a $45K vehicle.

They never told me there was a fee to return the car early -- I returned it 20 days before end of contract and they tell me that now that there is a $400 early termination fee, plus if the car loses money at auction, I am liable for that amount, too. The car was over on miles, which is why I called (twice) before returning. Whether its sitting in my driveway or on their lot, I dont know why that would matter, and as far as them losing money at auction, I cant control that. Predatory.

I test drove every Hybrid sold in the US and much to my surprise, the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid came out on top of the many categories I laid out for myself. Hyundai really took the time to design the ergonomics, style, feature-set, and accommodations for this car, which I fell in love with. My dealer made buying one simple, straightforward, and pressure-free.In Detail: CABIN: After driving the gamut of hybrids available in the US (Fusion, Prius [+ IV, C & V], Civic, Avalon, Camry, Accord, Volt, Crosstrek, CR-Z, C-Max...) I was finally talked into at least test driving the Sonata Hybrid. My partner had a 2012 Sonata that was recently totaled, (air bags deployed, driver and passenger safe and unharmed) that we both liked a lot, so I put my brand loyalty and pride aside to appease this silly recommendation. I got in and almost immediately fell in love (with the cabin, at least). Instant acceleration? Absolutely. Hybrid? No way. This Hyundai Sonata Hybrid (HSH) drove like a dream. Smooth, peppy, sporty, yet luxurious. I took it around for an hour or so and decided that it was going to be pushed to the top of my contenders list. It felt more comfortable than most of the other cars I had test driven and felt less like a Hybrid than all of them (thank you 6-speed transmission). After a day of driving other cars, the HSH felt like a retreat into a luxury condo. Everything about the car seemed to say to me, How can I make you more comfortable? How can I make this drive more exciting for you? What more can I do for you today. This car was definitely built from the drivers seat outward.RESEARCH: I was under no pressure to buy a car, so I took my time, researched all of my options and test drove every car that fit my basic parameters. As a car guru, I know most things about most cars, so my researched was aimed at filling in the gaps (i.e. owner experience, changes between 2012 and 2015 HSHs, recalls, future model introduction [at the time of my purchase, the 2016 HSH had been announced, which did encourage me to buy sooner than later, considering the design change was, in my opinion, moving backwards], dealership issues, etc). I joined the Hyundai forum for Sonata Hybrids and extensively read through threads describing issues specific to the HSH I was considering.PURCHASE: After several weeks of consideration and re-test driving the cars that made the top of my list, I finally decided that the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited w/ Ultimate Package was the car for me. Then the fun began. I called every Hyundai dealership in the Tri-State Area (VA-DC-MD) getting price quotes, availability, and dealer-specific incentives. I knew that I wanted to buy from Alexandria Hyundai, but after seeing their price match guarantee, I decided Id get the best deal possible, then have Alexandria Hyundai match it. The car at the time had an MSRP ~$33,500 (the limited package added upgraded tech, leather seats, some aesthetic features; the ultimate package added the panoramic sunroof and the Pioneer Stereo system) and I was in the market for something under $27,500. With the new 16 being released in the coming month and gas prices having plummeted, dealers seemed exceptionally willing to slash prices for almost any reason. To cut to the chase, I was able to have two Southern VA dealers battle it out to get my car down to $24,500 out the door (OTD). I was exceptionally happy with that price, brought the lowest quote to Alexandria Hyundai, and they said they would match it. They had the exact car I wanted, so I was ready to buy. I didnt haggle much from that point, because their dealership incentives were far better than any of the others (free car washes, free oil changes and tires for life, free inspections, free loaner with major service, etc). After going through the paperwork, which was a smooth transition, the car was mine (at least physically). Everything about the car was explained to me and I left a very happy consumer. 20,000 mi. UPDATE: Having had the car for 2 years, I am incredibly happy with the car itself and Alexandria Hyundai. Ive had very few services, but each time I brought my car in, I was treated very well and work was completed efficiently. The car drives like it did when I drove it off the lot that first day, with some minor wear in conspicuous places (the SONATA printed on the floor mat is less silver than it was back then). Id recommend Hyundai for consideration to friends and family; Id especially recommend the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid; and Id INSIST that if they were buying one, they go to Alexandria Hyundai in Northern Virginia.FINE PRINT: I bought the diamond white pearl model because its 10x more luxurious than the other colors. Its gorgeous enough to rival my friends Lexus RX-350 hybrid. Im still very much enamored with my car and think that 2 years later it is still one of the most attractive vehicles on the road. On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.

Called 911 and emergency responders pushed the car to the side. We towed to a dealer who said head gasket is blown and only fix is to replace engine. To further diagnose, the dealer needs approval from Hyundai but, Hyundai says, they will not do further diagnosis because their warranty covers only up-to 5 year and the vehicle can fail after 5 years. They insist there has not been any manufacturer recalls but, I asked them how do they know if there is no recalls if they dont diagnose? Their response was even worse than the ordeal we have gone through. We were almost killed driving this vehicle. Never buy a Hyundai that can only last for 5 years and get killed.

This is regarding the E.C.M. in I10 Sportz Kappa 1.2 model 2010 which has just crossed 10800 kms. As you can see it’s been used sparingly. Suddenly it was not starting. I called the Hyundai 24 hrs helpline service. They were not been able to assess the fault. Then I had to tow the vehicle to Hyundai service center paying RS1500 FOR NO FAULT OF MINE. Then I was informed after a day that it has e.c.m. problem and has to be replaced. My regret is that such a high end model has problem in the spare so soon as it has not even been driven 11000 kms and costing me RS35000. Do I have to pay for the faulty spare used by the company. I10 sucks as I have checked other reviews and to my shock, I came to know that they are other people suffering because of this problem. The worst part is that it was serviced just 7 days before the break down and they had charged more than 6500. It’s really sad to know that Hyundai is not able to maintain the quality. Since purchasing a used 2011 sonata I have dealt with a few recalls. One for metal debris may not have been fully removed from the crankshaft area during manufacturing causing knocking noise. My Sonata sounds like dozens of marbles flying around in the engine yet it was given a clean bill of health on this recall. They did however recommend replacing my front brakes prior to me leaving but I declined since I just got new tires and already knew I had quite some time left on the brakes. By the way it was 18 months before needing the front brakes. Totally bad reflection on the dealer service manager at Suntrup Hyundai in st. louis.Second recall was for powertrain -- the transmission shift cable may detach from the shift lever pin. This happened to me at a supermarket only I had no idea about the recall. Tried to start car but it would not turn over at all. I noticed the dash board showed the car in Drive but it was in park. That seemed strange. Got a tow truck to take car to dealer after trying to jump it. Dealer called and told me it needed a new battery which I could not believe since the tow truck tried to jump it and failed.So, I went ahead and replaced the battery and When I picked the car up the dealer told me they also fixed a recall with the transmission cable shift lever pin. I pointed out that was what happened to me at the supermarket. Car showed it was in drive but it was really in park and it would not start. They basically lied and replaced the battery that did not need replacing and it was the recall all along that caused the car not to start. Once again this is a dealer service manager problem. Clearly a big problem with Suntrup Hyundai in St Louis.Third was today. MDPS ECU replacement. Electric Power assist causes power steering to go out without notice. They fixed mine today but informed me that I needed a Steering coupler which would cost 350.00. I told Tim that nothing about the steering was broke so why would I need to do that. I left but as soon as I started the car and pulled out, I had to go back into the service counter. I told Tim the steering was screwed up bad. He said that he already explained to me that it was a separate issue and the computer was just compensating for the loose steering. How about that it was fine when I brought it in for the recall and it was given back to me broken. The steering is so loose that you can blow on it to make it turn. It must be twice as dangerous now as before. So unbelievable of a story that it seems made up.

Told by dealer we need a new engine - was told problem is because we did not change oil regularly. Hyundai refuses to cover because I cannot produce every oil/filter receipt (sometimes had private oil change). They said it would cost $5-7000 to replace. Had it towed home and we are trying to decide what to do. Found out online there is an investigation into class action suit for engine failure by Chimicles & Tikellis. Will NEVER buy Hyundai again and will NOT RECOMMEND.

I own a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. My engine/Powertrain warranty is 10 years/100,000 miles. As you can see, my car engine is covered until 2014. Also, my car has only 39,000 miles on it. I service it every 3000 miles and take really good care of the vehicle both inside and out. On Sunday, October 16th 2011, we were driving home from Wildwood, NJ when the nightmare began. According to Hyundai, the engine thermostat broke which in turn overheated the radiator; which in turn overheated the engine, causing engine damage. This whole process took only moments and before we could react, the car died and shut-off in the middle of Route 55! Since the car would not start, we had the car towed to Turnersville Hyundai which was the closest to us. We were prepared for some repairs but nothing related to our engine. We assumed that if any engine damage did exist, it would be covered under the 10-year warranty under which we have 100% engine protection not according to Hyundai. So the next day, Hyundai told us that they would not repair the engine even though it is under warranty. The reason they could not repair it is labeled consumer neglect. They said that we ran the car with the engine hot so it was our fault that it died. We had no idea all this was going to occur because our car never had a problem. If we were aware that the car was overheating we certainly would stop and turn the car off. We are currently trying to resolve this issue but Hyundai will not honor their warranty. For us to repair the car on our own will be at least $1000.00 to start and we cannot afford that. What is it to Hyundai (a multi-trillion dollar company) to put either new parts or a new engine in our car. Oh, by the way, this is the forth Hyundai I bought over the years. I dont think I will be buying another one anytime soon. Please help! They wont help me now, Im stuck with a car

My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Hyundai Azera in November 2013. Since then we have had numerous complaints with the vehicle in and out of the service department. Keep in mind the dealership is 90 miles one way and a rental vehicle was only offered one time to us out of the several trips we had to make. Let me start with noise up over the driver sun visor. The service department could never find and still to this day the noise can still be heard. Two of the wheels the clear coat started to come off. They did not want to replace the wheels and by stating that it was a product we must had used on them when washing the car. Needless to say I became very angry and we did receive two new wheels after the fact. The vehicle being 8 months old with 27,000 miles one of the tires are so worn and legally should not be on the road. The other three tires are worn but not worn as bad. Tires with 27,000 miles should have more tread on them. This vehicle gets serviced and tires rotated every 3,000 miles and all services have been scheduled at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle but one. The service department at the dealership is the worst we have ever had to come in contact with. You have two people telling you two different things regarding the tire tread. Alignment was good and was told we needed to contact Hankook the tire company and this was not a Hyundai problem. Hyundai is the one that contracted Hankook to put these tires on the car so I feel this is Hyundais problem. The chrome molding around the two back passenger windows is popping off. The dealership mentioned on the service print out that both moldings were loose but is only going to replace the driver side molding. I guess the passenger side molding will be another trip to the dealership before they will replace it instead of replacing them both at the same time. You can clearly see the passenger side molding loose too. Hyundai did everything in their power to sell us this vehicle with this wonderful 100,000 mile warranty but every time you have a problem you have to cause a scene and get angry before anyone wants to do anything. The tires is the biggest issue. This is a new vehicle and nothing is getting done about it. Is this how Hyundai treats their customers? I guess more complaints have to come forward or even deaths before Hyundai does anything about this major problem. If you are reading this just be aware of all the complaints listed and should reconsider purchasing a Hyundai. I wish we had done more research before we made our purchase.

2008 Hyundai Veracruz - We bought this car in the summer of 2010 and in 3 1/2 years, I have replace 13 bulbs in this car. My wifes headlight just went out again and this will be the fourth set of headlights, and no these arent the cheap ones either. Interior door panels are tattered. The engine has been great, no problems at all. The only other problem was with the air bag. The air bag light came on so we took it back to the dealer and they told us that it would cost us $1000 to repair it. Meanwhile, my wife had a little bumper damage that needed taken care of so she had taken it in to a body shop (not a Hyundai dealer) and he said that he had a friend that owned an auto service shop and said that he would take it over and see if he could fix it. We received a call later saying that the air bag light just needed reset and that was that. I really doubt that I would buy another Hyundai.

I havent had this car two years yet. I had work done on one of them on yesterday and by the afternoon, it was running okay before I took it in. Now the front end is shaking. The driver door is misaligned and allows road noise into the cabin and water into the sealed part of the door. The drivers side windshield wiper is misaligned and fumbles across the windshield making all sorts of noise. When I went to Hyundai of Serramonte the service clerk directed me first to a body shop. Then to the Hyundai where I purchased the car since it was a different dealer. Then told me the problem was normal and pointed to a far off car and said something like all doors are like that. We then walked over to the other car so I could show him the weather stripping on the other car does not create a gap like is on my car. He then said I can make an appointment if I want and walked off.

Now they have placed a lien on my car because I cannot come up with roughly $13,000.00 for the car that was repossessed. I have been making monthly payments until I get it resolved ($13.000.00). I have never been late/ahead on my 2011 Hyundai Tucson. They have been unwilling to cooperate with me about this issue.I corresponded in writing (30 days in advance). Im permanently disabled & on a set salary. They said to contact them within 30 days, which I did, & heard nothing from them. I have paid $1,600.00 toward the repossession. Now they have placed a lien on my car. I replied to them in writing, no phone, & have not heard anything. I told them I could not obligate myself for a set amount because of medicine, doctor bills, medical bills, & daily living expenses in this economy. The car drives fine, however am having a lot of issues with headlights and taillights having to be replaced. Not really happy with it. Headrests push head forward causing continual discomfort. Windshield angle makes it hard to clean windshield and dashboard. I also wish there were added wide view rear view mirror, or side mirrors that would show blind spots. Even so, I like having controls for my music on the steering wheel. Its a nice safety feature. I also like the number of miles/gallons feature. Nice to have a quick visual of how far you can still drive on the gas you have. Like the Bluetooth connection as well.

No after sale service - Beginning November 2011, we finally bought our dream car (Hyundai iX35 R2.0 CRDi GLS AWD A/T). I worked hard to be able to afford it. Brand new, it is delivered to us in hazy view. We are so happy to get our new dream car. The first week after we got the car, I need to take it to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop so that they can put on the nose bar as they couldn’t do it in time for delivery. That afternoon, when I got back my car and drove home, I saw that the panel where the gears are is scratched (looks like someone took a spanner or something while changing the automatic gears with it in hand). Several days later, I received an sms from the branch asking if I was satisfied with the service, and I replied no, I am not happy at all and told them about the scratched panel. Until today, they haven’t come back to me! In December, we went on holiday to Jeffrey’s Bay. On our way back, just before Kroonstad, we got a flat tire. I changed it and saw that in the inside, it is worn down to the wire, almost 5 cm. I looked at the other one, and it’s the same! We have to drive slowly as we don’t have a spare now. It is a mission to get two new tires in Kroonstad. Finally, we got the tires and after almost 5 hours and R7250.00 later and promises from Hyundai to replace it, we can continue to drive home (the car only has 9,000 km on the clock). So I sent the claim to Hyundai Lydenburg (where we bought the car). It’s now two months later, I do not know how many e-mails and phone calls, and we are still waiting for the money! The car almost has 10,000 km, suddenly the engine light goes on. I looked in the book and it says it has to get to a dealer as soon as possible. It was late at night, so the next morning, we took the car to Hyundai Nelspruit workshop. They put it on the lift and apparently there is an oil leak; we need to leave the car there as we are not allowed to drive with it (it was Monday, 6 February). So we have to rent a vehicle because no courtesy car was available (I talked to Hyundai again, they will pay the vehicle). I got a rental car from Euro Car. The first amount go off on my credit card on 8 February (R8091), and the second on 14 February (R2000), and the third on 6 March (R19,607). With our own car it would have been a bit cheaper to drive! On Thursday, we called the workshop (they said we can get it on Friday) to hear if our car is finished to collect the next day. No, they have to order a seal. A few days later, we phoned again, still not finished. They will only get the seal by 5 March! (I think they plant or grow rubber trees then milk them and only then can they produce a seal). A few weeks later, they called us (for a change) and told us they got the seal and we have to bring in the car so they can put it in. We told them that we can’t bring in the car as it is already standing there in the workshop for 3 weeks now, and that they can just immediately start with it! On Tuesday, we phoned again to hear if they are finished (was supposed to be finished on Monday). It was not. The seal they ordered was the wrong one, but they looked in their storeroom and found one (so actually the car was standing there for weeks now for nothing). They put the seal in, put in the oil, and suddenly there is another leak! And they don’t even phone us, we have to phone them every time! On Monday, 5 March, I stopped at the workshop to get my mailbox key (since it’s almost a month, I couldn’t take out my mail). They sent a young man to accompany me outside to my car to get my key. There my new car is standing way at the back in the sun. I wonder if it’s been standing there for all this time. (I don’t even let my old car stand in the sun for so long).It’s now more than 4 weeks later, I’m tired of begging and phoning all the time. I don’t even want that car anymore. It already gave us so much problems I don’t trust it anymore. We expect Hyundai to give us a brand new car, pay back our money for the tires, pay the bill on my credit card with interest for the rental car and bank charges on the credit card, so their name is not affected. It is the least they can do for us to compensate for all the inconvenience, or we have to take legal action. After I sent this mail to Hyundai, I got an e-mail from Liam from Customer Service saying that Hyundai will only pay for the labor and the seal. Thank heavens, they will pay a R5 seal and me R40,000 for rental and tires. At R4000 a kilometer above the buying of R400,000, I really hope to sell it or let it just stand too expensive for me. This is unacceptable. The public should know about the terrible service of Hyundai before they have to go through what we did. If you read the letter/message of the CEO, Alan Ross, (on their website) it is the opposite of what is happening in reality. In my situation, there is in no client service from Hyundai! Hyundai Nelspruit says they can’t work if there is no part. Hyundai sells thousands of vehicles and there is no part, wow. It’s like me booking in guests and tell them sorry we can’t take you on a game drive. I wonder for how long we still have to wait for our car and all the money? At least Hyundai Lydenburg tried to help us with this mess from Nelspruit workshop via e-mails, etc. I fear the day the car is not under guarantee anymore and I have to pay all the expenses because their service is so bad! I hope you can accomplish something with them.

I leased a 2021 Hyundai Kona EV from Hyundai November of last year. The vehicle has been giving me issues since, constant dashboard lights and issues with the electric vehicle system. After attempting to charge the vehicle at home, the vehicle would not charge at all. This occurred on January 28, 2022. I anticipate the issue would be due to weather and did not drive it for a few days. On February 1, 2022 I attempted to drive the vehicle and it would not pick up a charge. On the dashboard a check engine light displayed (Check Electric Vehicle System). The only charge left on my vehicle 19% of battery, roughly 58 miles of distance.I contacted the dealership and explained my issue, and they stated I would have to tow the vehicle to their location, and incur towing fees at my own expense. I then contact a dealership that was much closer, and they scheduled me for service on February 22, 2022. After dropping the vehicle off, the service advisor contacted me 9 days later and explained to me that the vehicle has an issue with the electric vehicle system. He also advised me that the electric vehicle battery must be replaced, and the time frame for replacement is 5-7 months.I contacted Hyundai Corporate and explained to them the issue. I advised them that I would like to have the vehicle purchased back from Hyundai due to its defect since the vehicle can not be repaired in a timely manner, and has a defective issue. I also explained to them that an issue with the battery concerns me, and I do not feel safe charging the vehicle at home knowing there is an issue with the battery, and there may be an issue with the replacement battery as well. The safety of myself and my family must be taken into consideration when dealing with an issue on a vehicle that is plugged into the electrical system of my home. Hyundai advised me that there is nothing they can do, and I am stuck with this vehicle. This entire situation has been an unforeseen nightmare.I am at a lost for words at the experience that I have had with Hyundai Motor America. This is a new vehicle with roughly 5,000 miles, and I am being forced by Hyundai Motor America to continue to remain in a lease for vehicle their own employees have told me could be many months to repair. Hyundai Motor America is refusing to assist me in the matter knowing that the vehicle is a lemon, under New Jersey lemon law. I highly suggest anyone reading this to rethink to do business with Hyundai Motor America.

I drove off and about a mile down the road, the light came back on. I took it back and was told the problem was the PSGR seat cushion, and would cost $900.00 to fix. The warranty I bought did not cover this and the dealership would not fix it. I was not about to spend more money on this car, so I have just been driving with the light on. I started doing some research and found that there was a recall on 2006 Sonata for its airbag. I called and was told my 2006 was not part of that recall, yet its a 2006 Sonata; I dont get it.

THE WORST!! I would choose zero stars for the review if it was an option! We financed our car from Hyundai Finance in November 2019 and waited 3 months to receive our title, but we never received it. We then relocated to another state and to be able to register our car, we needed our title. So, we requested a duplicate title from Hyundai in February 2020. We still haven’t received our title because Hyundai Finance fails to address our request properly every time for TWO YEARS. We have been sending countless checks and request letters to Hyundai Finance for them to request a duplicate title from the DMV for us, but they keep saying they haven’t received any checks, even though they are all delivered.For two years now, we haven’t been able to register our car in the state we live in because of the incompetency of the Hyundai title department. There is no way to call the titles department or even send a direct email to them. We have been calling customer service for two years, asking them to send emails on our behalf to the title’s department. But still no action and no clear response!! They even sometimes hang up on me instead of addressing my concerns and requests. This is the WORST experience I’ve ever had with a company in my life!! BEWARE and stay clear of Hyundai Finance!!

Late last year, I had to take the car to the dealer again because the lights all kept dying at the same time. I read somewhere that it was a bad switch somewhere.About 3 months ago, I took my car back to the dealership because it was lurching at around 45 mph. They looked at the transmission and told me everything was fine, it checked out. Then about a month ago, I took it back to the dealer because the lights all burned out at the same time again. They checked it and said it was just the light bulbs. So they replaced all the lights in the rear for 45 dollars, gave me a printout of my visit and said they checked the fluids, etc. and everything looked good.Last Saturday, I was heading out to get the oil changed. The check engine light came on and there was a slight knocking noise. After the oil change, I took it directly to the dealership. I got a call from Adam on Wednesday telling me that they were going to have to take the motor apart to check it out. He said he needed my permission to do so but also asked if I had all my maintenance records. He said that if they get in to the engine and see that theres gunk in the motor, thats a sign of poor maintenance and it wouldnt be covered by the warranty.I told him I had the majority of my records. He said the tear down of the engine would cost $360 and I would be responsible for that fee if they find that this problem wasnt covered by the warranty. I gave him the approval to tear down the engine, sure that they would find the problem to be from something covered under warranty.He just called me this morning and left a voicemail that the problem is maintenance related. I should call Valvoline or my insurance company because the problem is not covered under warranty and a new engine is going to cost me $4,500. He said the engine was starved for oil.I think they are trying whatever they can to get out of honoring the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty.

Now that the warranty has expired, the dealer technician told me to bring it in for reset since I have had history of having it reset and also new bags installed. However, this service shop is all the way across town and I live approximately 45 miles away. I have decided to just let it burn out. More of a hassle to get it fixed. By the way, I now have trouble with my seat belt not retracting. It is fully extended all the time. I just hope I dont get into any severe accident whereby I will need it. Lord help!

So my company chose to pay it. At the end of the lease we started to receive nasty messages saying we were behind on our payments. It turns out that Hyundai ceases auto withdrawal within two months of the lease end as standard procedure. Now that would be nice to know! So I had to make the payment and Western Union fee, who uses Western Union? No credit cards allowed. So I return the car to the dealer, but I still get bills in the mail. Call them again and they say I owe two payments. How can that be? I had already turned in the car! Turns out that the maturity date was the 18th and that was the date that I turned it in. OK so whats the problem? According to them the day that you turn in the car is the day before it matures and if you wait till the day that it matures, then you pay the next months payment! So its not a huge amount of money but Ill never use them again.

After that, things started to go wrong - full throttle pump had to be replaced ($1000) dollars. Last week I hit 100,000 miles on my car. Then the next day the check engine light went on. Took it to the mechanic and they said it was something with the oil pump. They cleaned it, did an oil change, light went off. Next day, light came back on. Took it back, they replaced the part and when they took it for a test drive, the engine began seizing up. They told me it needed a new engine. Had it towed to dealership. They also said it needed a new engine. They told me that since it was over warranty, there would be no coverage. They informed me that the goodwill warranty determination would have to come from Hyundai manufacturing. Hyundai manufacturing told me it was determined by the dealership. I called the dealership again and they sent me back to Hyundai manufacturing.

They said they rotated my tires, which had to be done in order to keep receiving the warranty and the oil change was free.I feel as though they charged me for the oil change. I am very unsatisfied with Hyundai. I feel that every time I take it in for an oil change, they are going to charge me for something else due to the customer having to follow, at a minimum, the factory maintenance guide in order to receive my warranty.I own two Lincoln vehicles that get free lifetime oil changes. When I take these cars in, they change the oil, rotate the tires, and wash the car; all for free. I understand when the car starts getting older and the mileage starts increasing that they are going to be charging me for certain maintenance services. But I feel as though they are ripping people off and they are not giving free oil changes as they said they were. I contacted three people at Hyundai about this issue and they keep telling me that this is their policy.

So my insurance call HMF for the selling amount so they can pay the car off. That was on May 27, 2014. Today is Jun 27, 2014, a month later. My insurance call them so many times and send them the information about the loss four times and HMF still saying every time when I call then that they not received anything. I told them I want to speak with a supervisor and they say that they do not have a supervisor available and they just hang up on me so many times. This company is a joke and have very bad customer service especially in the recovery or claim department. Today is Jun 24, 2014 and they still not giving the selling amount to my insurance. This company is so disrespectful. I will never buy a Hyundai again.

Hyundai treated me with total disregard regarding my disposition fee being extended. I had a hip injury and need a hip replacement. Therefore, it would be foolish to get a new car and not be able to drive it. They were not understanding at all and was only interested in the disposition fee being paid to them. I paid the fee and wrote a letter asking if they would reimburse me the $439.05 until September 2019 when I would be able to drive again and purchase a new car from them at that time. They refused me and showed no compassion or consideration to me at all. It was all about the money they wanted.The whole disposition fee is to repair the car of any problems or cosmetic issues. My car was UNDER 13,500 miles which definitely improves the value of the car. I’m the only one that drove it and it was taken perfect care of. I even had an oil change done on it and filled the car up with gas the day I turned it in. The gentleman at Circle Hyundai said he never saw a car returned that still looked brand new. I will NEVER buy another Hyundai and will be sure to tell my family & friends of the total disregard they gave me. I was never treated so badly by a Corporation in my life. That did it for me and Hyundai.

The staff doesnt listen to a word you say, they just repeat their demands over and over until you get so frustrated you have to hang up and compose yourself. Ask for a supervisor then you wait on hold for a long period and then just get the same treatment from the supervisors. Whatever happen to customer service? These people are horrible to deal with. Don’t Buy it and waste your time and money! I lease Hyundai Tucson on December 2018. The car was running perfect for 3 months. The start showing same problem over and over, the problem is happened often but in not continuous manner. The problem is:1. If the car off, once you insert the key in ignition, the key stuck and not turn the car on. After 15 to 30 minutes the car back to normal.2. If the car on ... suddenly the maintenance light, the turned on, the AC turned off, the front left signal off, the engine overheated and when you turn the car off the key stuck in ignition. The issue continue happened almost once a week for 30 minutes and then disappeared and back running normal. I took one of my vacation day and took it to the dealer. I explained the issue in detail, he said as far as the issue not continues he can diagnose it.“People who create car cannot identify issue and leave you with possibility to stuck in the middle of nowhere of that issue happened ... funny right”. Every time the issue happening I called hyundai to come pick up the car and find out what’s going out and give me a loaner car since my work required a car all time —- customer service, case manager reject my request. Last time the issue cont. so I called the road side assistance. They took it to the dealer. The car was in repair for three days. Hyundai did not give me a loaner car and they offer the max reimbursement for rental car $38/day... that offer after I had a case # with them and two days after I was without car ... in NYC is impossible. The min car rental is $60/day in NYC and that for smaller car than the Tucson.The dealer claim that he fix it by replacing the ignition. 30 minutes after I pick the car up and on my way back the issue is happened again for 30 mins... Again back to same hyundai concept cannot identify their car issued .... funny. That would be the last car I buy or lease from hyundai. Except if you wanna ride a car with a fancy shape but 20 yrs old keep showing problems.

I just leased a new Sonata. And after the deal was final and I took possession of the car. 6 days later, I was contacted by Hyundai finance (Kevin) at the dealership. I was told I needed to come back in because they made a mistake with the bank rate and the residual was too low. I was told my payment was going to go down 5 dollars and the residual was going to go up 2700. I was also told once I got to the dealer that I was entitled to a Platinum Bram Auto Protection plan for the length of my lease. When I asked why I was getting this I was told for the inconvenience and its just how the new numbers work out. After signing the NEW contract, I was called yet again 5 days later to come back to the dealer, that there was a mistake made again, and they did not take into consideration the 21M miles that I originally needed and had in the deal. When I went back the finance guy and the GM had me in the finance room and I was told they need to either raise my payment, or take away the miles and the protection plan. I said I already have a signed contract, plates, keys... Etc. for 2 weeks.He told me if I did not sign, I would not get a payment book and it would be like I have a stolen vehicle.I left the dealership in complete despair. I have never been strong armed and treated like this. I told him, he was threatening me and that I have a legal contract. He said, Go see your lawyer, that contract is void. He wants me to sign a different deal than the one I have and give back everything that they have in my contract. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO TO KEEP THE CONTRACT THAT I WAS GIVEN AS WRITTEN, AND THE CAR.

I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the customer service and system that takes place for recall and warranty work. My engine light began flashing Friday morning and I instantly called my “home” dealership to inquire what to do. They said to pull over and not drive it any further and to contact roadside assistance to have it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. I did just that. My vehicle is a 2017, but purchased brand new March 2018. I am well under the 100,000 km/ 5 year warranty. Once we arrived at the dealership to get things rolling, I was informed that my vehicle has an engine recall - thanks for the notice in the mail on that one, Hyundai - NOT. So that was a major surprise to hear. I get back to work and receive a phone call from service that my engine failed all diagnostic tests and that I needed a new engine altogether. I confirmed all my services have been done through Sherwood Park Hyundai, so they said, Great, we’ll get them to send over your records and send everything off to Hyundai Canada for approval and get you a rental. I expressed how much I required a rental, as I am 8 months pregnant and my husband is not available to be driving me to and from work. They told me by Monday or Tuesday they would know the status of the engine and we can do the rental car. I had to call Monday afternoon for an update, she informed me that nothing had been approved yet, but by Tuesday we’d know. I once again explain the need for the rental. Received no phone call Tuesday, so at 2:45 pm I called them, again. Once again told Hyundai Canada still didn’t approve the warranty for the engine. Not only is this a RECALL, but I am under warranty. They then said I could pay $40/ day for a rental through them and once warranty was approved, they’d take it over. I asked if I’d be reimbursed, they said no. So Hyundai wants me to not only pay my bi-weekly payments on a vehicle I can’t drive, but also pay out of pocket for a rental when it should have already been dealt with and set up. RIDICULOUS. Having a vehicle gets me to my place of employment, which allows me to pay you people for the vehicle sitting in one of your dealerships waiting for an engine on a basically still new vehicle. They were not willing to a single thing to help me out. I will never be buying a Hyundai again. My husband is already looking at getting rid of his also due this service. I owned 3 Chevy’s prior to the Tucson thinking it was a good move. Worst decision and full regret. Things started great with Hyundai and has plummeted over the years. Whenever my vehicle was in the shop with Chevy they ensured they had a fleet/lot vehicle available to me to drive. When I had to get warranty work done and they required to keep my vehicle for 3 days, they had a rental available to me instantly. Odd, they had no issue getting me in a rental ASAP. Hyundai, you are beyond disappointing and I am disgusted with your customer service.

After dealer having the car over 40 days it is shaking at a stop (almost stalling), scared to drive my kids in the car. Dealer says nothing wrong with it now. My parts backorder now has been pushed to Nov. 15th, which I am sure will be pushed out again as they have every month. It has been 5 1/2 months. Hyundai customer care is one of the worst Ive seen, they are showing no concerns about me the consumer or my vehicle. There is a Hyundai Tucson engine failure page set up on Facebook. There is an existing problem for about 2 3 months and its not getting better. There is a burnt smell when the heat is on, dewy film on front windshield. I can clean the windows and its back in a few days. I constantly need to drive with the windows down for fresh air and unable to have passengers due to health and safety concerns. The problem seems to be coming from the vents on the dashboard (right below the windshield) regardless of whether the heat is on or off.I tested my theory by covering the vents for 2 days while driving and the symptoms below decreased. So the vapors that are causing the problems are coming through those dash vents which make sense considering the above problems. I turned on the defroster on 5/8/13 after the car sat all night and smelled antifreeze for about 2 minutes from the dash vents. Also I did some internet research and found some common themes with the 2012 Sonata GLS: PVC collapsing and causing fumes; vapors to back up inside the cabin; antifreeze vapors coming through the dash vents. The vapors/leaks were not detected through the pressure test, they were found through a manual check.Symptoms experienced by driver and/or passenger in vehicle are: dizziness; extreme eye irritation and burning; headache; taste buds dull out and when they return hours later, its almost a sugary taste; nausea.

The 2017 Hyundai Tucson drives nice, is roomy, and is much better gas mileage than our previous minivan. However, I really miss sliding doors, which we were used to on our other vehicles. I wish the Tucson had a power trunk and Im not happy with the radio as it doesnt show song titles like our previous model did. Nevertheless, it was our first time leasing so it made the vehicle quite affordable. The Tucson had a better price point than comparable models. It is also physically very attractive and is a beautiful color turquoise. It has a very modern looking interior and exterior as well.

I love the Remote Start feature that Hyundai Blue Link provides. I think its very overpriced. I also dont like that to get the Remote Start that I have to get the other packages which I dont use. It would be nice to just have the Remote Start feature. I also dont like that the max time for the vehicle to be started is only 10 minutes. It would be great for the customer to extend the timer beyond 10 minutes especially living in a cold climate state like I do. When the timer expires for the Remote Start, why dont you receive notification like you do when the vehicle is started. Also, I dont like it that it flashes the parking lights, they should give the option for the customer to turn off that feature or go to a solid parking light if so the customer chooses.I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Elantra and received the Remote Start package for a trial period. It was set up by the dealership. I didnt know why they needed my credit card information, I found out why. They auto billed my card after the trial period was over without notifying me. I asked why I wasnt notified and they didnt have an answer. I told them that I only wanted the Remote Start option and they said that I had to get the full package to get the Remote Start. Almost $300. I liked the Remote Start that much that I didnt cancel the service of which the Remote Start is the only thing I use.The next year, I purchased a 2016 Tuscon, same thing with the Elantra happened with the Tuscon. I called Blue Link and asked them to sync my two accounts, the agent told me she had done so. When I tried to start my 2015, the app prompted me to call Blue Link. They told me that the subscription on my Elantra was cancelled. I told them that I had another two months left before renewal, she verified that I was correct. I then asked her why was my service cancelled and she said she didnt know. She got a supervisor involved and he said the same thing.Granted, the 2015 is a Generation 1 vehicle and the 2016 is a Generation 2 vehicle which is two different departments. Why arent they combined, I dont know. I told them to turn on my service for the remaining two months that I have left on my subscription, they said they couldnt do that. They said I had to renew my yearly subscription. I asked them why because my service was not scheduled for renewal for two months and that it wasnt my fault that they screwed up. They said that their computers would not allow them to go in and turn on the service without the renewal of my yearly subscription. Being unsatisfied, I told them to renew my subscription which got prorated to the date that I purchased the vehicle. They told me that for my troubles that they would give me a discount on one of the packages one of my vehicles. They assured me that this mishap would not happen again.Which brings me to this years renewal, the so-called discount wasnt a discount, they extended one of the packages on one of my vehicles which knocked my packages out of sync, again. The sent me an E-mail stating that I would have to pay almost $20 a month for the next two months to aligned the packages. On the day that they were supposed to pull the money from my account, my Remote Start package was cancelled and when I called Blue Link, they said I had insufficient funds. Which I found ridiculous because I verified that I had several thousand dollars on that account. I even signed onto the Blue Link website to verify that the billing information was correct and it was. Besides, they had just taken out $297 from my account for my other vehicles renewal of which I wasnt notified. I asked them why I wasnt notified and again, they said that they didnt know and they were going to pass me onto their website department. They are currently investigating why I wasnt notified, I am not going to hold my breath for a response, lol. The agent asked what would it take for me to be a satisfied customer, I said, Free service, I knew that wouldnt fly. I asked her to turn on the service for the remainder of the two months I have left to sync my accounts, of course, just like the year prior, they said it couldnt be done and that I had to renew my yearly subscription. I didnt. I am so frustrated with Blue Link right now but I love their Remote Start feature. A few years ago, I tried to have Car Toys to put an aftermarket remote start system on my vehicle and they said that because the vehicle has a factory installed remote system on the vehicle that they couldnt do it. This was three years ago. I am going to revisit this option and see if it can be done. With the Remote Start feature I had on my other vehicle, it had way more features than Blue Link has and for cheaper. You figure with as much as they charge for the service that they would be one of the leaders in the game.I gave this review only 2 stars because I love the Remote Start otherwise it would be one star. I dont think Blue Link even cares about their customers, they know we have to use this service if we want it, especially being in a cold climate state. If they were smart, they would find a way to be able to modify the field to change the renewal date to maintain the subscribers they have right now. I will be looking for another car company where I can have more flexibility with this option. So it will be goodbye to Hyundai even though I like their vehicles. My Tucson was the 4th Hyundai I had purchased, yes, this is a deal breaker. If I can find a go around, I will. Thanks, Blue Link. Step up your game.

I currently own this 2015 Sonata limited and have seen very little of it lately. I purchased this car in October 2015. After around seven months of ownership, my battery went dead. I called service. They jump the car and figured that was the end of the problem since it was a very cold morning. A few days later the same thing happened again. Called the service. They jump the car. This time I drove it to Star Hyundai service. The manager at that time, Mike told me that there was nothing wrong with the battery and they were not replacing it. This was after two hours of trying to diagnose the problem. He tell me if it happens again I should have the car towed in. That is exactly what I did a few days later. He still refused to admit that there was something wrong with the battery. I then contacted the dealer whom I bought the car from who put the screws to him and he finally changed the battery. I thought this was the end of the problem. Wrong! This problem has repeated itself several times over the last few months. I have had three new batteries since the original battery put in to this car. I only have around 16,000 miles on the car. After the issue had escalated I contacted their customer care department. I was given a case number and a really horrible case worker. He never answered his phone, was very slow to get back to me. Kyle **. They advertise great customer service. HORRIBLE!!! I was forced to hire a lemon law lawyer. My car is presently in the shop going on 26 days. They could not find the reason for the battery failure. Fortunately for me, I was given a loaner. Now I am just waiting to see what they are going to do as far as replacing the car or offering me a buyback. I certainly dont want a replacement. This was my first and my last Hyundai purchase.

Two weeks ago the Sonata engine seized. The dealer in York PA claims it had no oil however, my wife had topped it off 7-10 days earlier. Then my son checked the oil 3 days before the Sonata engine seized. It had oil.Do not buy a 2011 Sonata or any year Sonata. Google engine problems Hyundai Sonata. There are literally thousands of reported Hyundai engine failure. And there is a class action lawsuit. In addition it is a cheaply made vehicle. The fans squeak, the seats squeak, the Torque steer is outrageous; the Sonata has the worst torque steer of any front wheel car Ive driven. Weve had to invest over $5500 in this cheap car over the past few months. The used Sonata engine cost $3,100 and the York PA dealer gave us exactly 3 months or 3000 miles warranty. I will post my receipts in a few days. Stay away from Hyundai and do not buy a Sonata.

During our warranty period, the dealer always had a quick fix and would reset the airbag light. Well 2 months after the air warranty expired and I should note only 50k miles in 5 years, they amazingly found the problem! It would only cost us $3,200 to repair! We fought with Hyundai and they repaired the problem, or so we thought! Now one year later the other seats airbag has the same problem! Why does Hyundai play with safety? These cars should have been recalled!

I had purchased a Hyundai Veracruz from Hyundai Juma Al Majid showroom on 27th April, 2011. The vehicle is under warranty for a period of 5 years and extended warranty for 2 years. Ever since I purchased my car, there is vibration in the steering wheel and the same has not been resolved till date in spite of continuous follow-up. I had noticed on the very second day that there was some problem with the steering. It was vibrating a lot even at a speed of 60 km/hour and I reported this to Hyundai immediately. I was asked to inform the service advisor about this issue during the first 1000 km service. I had made the complaint during the first service in May 2011 (3 weeks from the date of purchase). But even after the servicing was completed (mentioning everything is done), the vibration was still there. I had again reported this and was asked to keep the car in the workshop for further checking. They had done a test drive and agreed that there was vibration. After checking, I was told that there was an issue with the tire and that it would be replaced as the car was under warranty. The report was made by the workshop engineer and after some testing, the car was returned to me in the same old condition as the issue was not resolved.Subsequently, I have placed my car with the workshop about six times for several days together (more than a week in some cases) for servicing, but the problem has not been resolved. The last time I placed my car with the workshop, I was told that all five tires have been changed and the problem has been resolved. But the problem exists at speed of over 120 km/hour. Later, I have been told that one of the tires had not been changed. I have discussed the issue with several people in the workshop, showroom and customer service in several times, but I have not received satisfactory response. I am still clueless as to what the problem with my car is and whether my service advisors are aware of what the problem relates to, as they have not been able to identify and fix the problem for the past 9 months or give me a timeline to fix the issue. I am very much disappointed with the kind of service I receive and I can make out the difference between the service provided before and after the sale. If the problem is with the tire, why is it taking such a long time to replace it with good tires? If the problem is not with tires, it has to be identified or the vehicle has to be replaced. In all this trial and error game, it’s the customer who is suffering after having spent so much money on the vehicle. This has caused a lot of mental pressure and waste of time and money.

I contacted the dealer who said they would sell me a 2017 Hyundai Tucson and purchase the Elantra from me, I paid them $4350.00 which took care of early lease return fees, taxes and everything else. This was a purchase and sale. I have all the papers to prove this and tried to explain to them, Hyundai leasing, that I do not owe them anything and, if any monies have to be paid it would be by the Dealer, not me. Now they have reported me delinquent to the credit bureaus and as a result my credit scores have been reduced and as a result this has cost me higher interest fees, etc. I have disputed this with Equifax, Transunion and Experian but not successful. What can I do to rectify this???

The radio has no bluetooth or touchscreen, it would be ideal if it had more functions like front and back camera or a GPS system and a android operating system. But other than that, the car has not had any problems and is very economic in gasoline plus it is very responsive and smooth to drive in.

My wife and I finance a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We have three small children and this is our only means of transportation someday a because my car is a junk box and doesnt work all the time. Being that this is our only car my wife is very very much on top of it, she takes it for oil changes when and even before it is due. We had gotten a recall in regards to the steering column and decided that the dealer we normally use (formally Brad Benson Hyundai, now DCN) is inconvenient being that its so far away and thought we would get the same workmanship that we have received in the past if we brought it to a closer location. We were so wrong. First, after the first recall they did not have a loaner car, so we relied on friends and family for a day or so. After picking up the car from freehold Hyundai, we noticed the steering was looser than usual and it had a knocking noise when the wheel was being turned. We called back FREEHOLD Hyundai and they said there was nothing wrong, so in that same day we continued driving. For about the three hours we had the car the engine was giving out on us... Again something unusual that was not there before we brought it in. So I said forget this. Im bringing it back to where it just came from. We went to FREEHOLD Hyundai and told them we cant drive the car like this... The servicemen named Issac was a bit understanding but not very because he kept telling us the steering was absolutely fine. They hold the car and the next day or so they called us and told us that our engine had caught fire... So heres what it is. I gave them a perfectly working car, and bring it to this chop shop and I get it back and my steering is all screwed up and then my engine just catches fire?? Im sorry but I call **. They have terrible mechanics at this shop and I believe, I firmly believe that they screwed something up as far as the engine is concerned and used the cover up that the engine caught fire because they knew there was a class action lawsuit against Hyundai for having engines going on fire after a certain amount of time. We were told at first that our engine wasnt going to be fixed for a few months because they were on back order because so many car engines were catching fire. So they did the right thing and issued my wife and I a loaner car for the time being. A month had gone by and we gotten news that my 8 year old son would need open heart surgery. Then someone posted a negative review about them not having a loaner car and we magically get a call the next day or so that our engine had been replaced and that we have something of theirs, and they have something of ours and we NEEDED to go and get our car. Thats not all. After giving this dealership a chance to redeem itself by trying to contact the man in charge of vehicle service, they wanted us to pay 1000 dollars to get everything fixed. Oh I forgot to mention that the power lock button was broken off and my cruise control stopped working all by itself!!! Isnt that magical??? We brought it to our own mechanic and he said that its a bushing on the steering column and is about 500 dollars to replace to the labor it requires. We have been back and forth with Hyundai the corporation for an entire week, with no resolution... Absolutely no idea from anyone to get the work done to get my wife and I our car back. So our car went in for a recall repair in July/August and it is now Oct going into November and I still dont have a car or any way to fix this. The corporation isnt working with me and the dealer is refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing on their part. So here we stand, a minor recall turns into a disaster. We have tree kids one of whom was in the hospital in Queens NY and we live in NJ and no car!!! And no help... So heres what youre gonna do... Youre gonna go search cars companies that have exquisite customer satisfaction... And stay as far away from this ** of a company as you can. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT buy a car from this company and especially stay as far away from FREEHOLD NJ Hyundai dealership. Its terrible and they have terrible and inferior people working there.

Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off on me randomly twice! First time it shut off I had to pick my toddler up from daycare that is 40 min away and they told me they will come in about an hour and half to tow my car. And they will not give me a loaner or anything to replace the vehicle while being looked at while my toddlers school closed and they are waiting for me to grab him. I kept trying to start the car in a panic and 2 hours later before the tow truck got to me the car started and I rushed to get him. The next day took the car to get looked at Paramus Hyundai service center and spent the whole day there with my baby for them to tell me my car is fine and told me I gotta go that they are closing. Meanwhile I tell them I do not feel safe driving with my baby in a car that shuts off with no warnings in middle of the road and I want a loaner and this car looked at more to find the problem. They said no and thats not their problem. Following week sure enough the car shuts off again at 8pm in middle of the road with my dogs and baby in the car and this time it never went back on. Cops stopped the traffic moved the car off road and when I called the sos they told me they cannot tow the car because the service center is closed and they cant get permission to park the car there... So we walked home from that area about a 15-20 min walk at around 10pm. I had to drag the baby back with me early morning to tow the car and sit at the service center all day with my poor son crying. And eventually that place brought me to tears, having me there all day not telling me anything until the very end of the day giving me a lot of problems about giving me a loaner car and only pulling some string and giving me a car seeing that Im stuck there with a fed up toddler. No one helping me, no one cared the first time it broke, now I do not feel safe in this car. I also want money back from the time I spent without a working car. I pay so much money for my time lost sitting on the phone and being transferred from person to person to tell me they cannot help me, calling corporate for them to transfer me from person to person for an hour me explains my issues over and over again to different people for them to tell me someone will call me that can help me in 3-5 business days!!! Are they crazy?! I dont want this car. I dont want to deal with anyone from Hyundai anymore!!! Im fed up, my family is fed up. I have never had so many problems with a car or with customer service as I do with this Hyundai Tucson limited! Im disgusted with the way I have been treated and I cannot believe Im still in this unsafe car that supposedly was fixed. A car that ** off like this after 2 months of driving it brand new is not a safe car and is not worth $466 a month! PS. There is a lot more to all this but I wanted to make it as short as possible. Bottom line me and my baby were put in unsafe position twice and no one does anything about it!

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata died on me last night while driving home on the 210 Fwy without any warning whatsoever. AAA towed it to Parkway Hyundai in Valencia, CA. I received a call today from the dealership telling me I need a new engine. Although my car has 150,000 miles on it, they are mostly easy highway miles and I have not had any mechanical issues up to now. I regularly have maintenance done to the vehicle. I am furious after reading numerous complaints from other 2011 Hyundai Sonata owners with the same problem and Hyundai not accepting any responsibility.

I have never, in my life, been treated so rudely. Their customer service rep hung up on me. I thought she had all the information that she needed and gone to find out. The next day when I was expecting my paperwork to be where it was supposed to, it was not. So when I called back the next day, upset that my paperwork had not been transferred, the rep on the phone was once again rude. The rep promised my paperwork would be there in 1-2 hours, and it was never done on time. Not only is this now costing me money, but I was treated horribly as well. And with an interest payment of 20% on a car, they should invest money in training their reps.

My husband, an ex-marine, slammed on the emergency brake which stopped the car just before we would have hit two cars. The problem turned out to be the computer chip. The car was in the shop in New Hampshire for one week. Prior to the brake problem, until the present time, we have been having ongoing problems with the trunk of the car opening over and over again by itself. We cant use the trunk lest we would be robbed.For the trunk problem, we have had the car in for service five or six times for a total of eight days. It has never been fixed. Now Hyundai has informed us that they are closing our case. This car is a lemon. We need to reach John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai, for his help with this ongoing problem. Please, help us. I have recently just got a used 2013 Hyundai Elantra with 32,000 miles for my birthday. This review isnt necessarily a bad one. Every once in a while when I turn on my car for the first time of the day, it makes this short, medium pitched whistling sound, and it only last for about one second or less, the noise doesnt really bother me, it just concerns me that something may be wrong with my car. I have saw some complaints about the same thing, and they said that they took it to the dealer and they said it was normal. I have yet to take my car to the dealer, as I have no time at the moment, but I do plan to take it as soon as I do have some time. By the way, Ive only had the car for about 1 month and a half. Also on a side note: the dealership we went to in Concord, NC is RUDE. Do NOT go there for a car.

I called them to asked if it is available but they did not give a call to update. I dont know if your SOP is like that, the problem is the steering and it is dangerous to used but you dont care about your customer complaint. I bought a 2011 Hyundai, I was the second owner. As I was going to work I pulled out onto a main highway where the motor made this horrible noise and stopped, leaving me in terrible danger. People helped me push the car to get it backed off to a bit of safety zone, I had to have it towed to a garage. This car had 82,000. miles on it, it seems the motor was gone. It was then towed to the dealership, where it sat for 4 months before anyone even took a look at it. I keep calling them frequently about it and was told, they had so many cars before me in line they didnt have time to work on it.I had to find other means of transportation for work and other necessities. Only to be told because I was 2,000 over the second owners warranties that Hyundai refused to replace it. They had a class action suite against them, I was notified, but didnt have a problem at the time I was notified. Why would I spent $6,000 for a new one of their motors when the one I had was no good? I was told of others the same dealership that they had replaced motors with the overage mileage. I had expected to drive this car for at least 200,000 plus miles. Just goes to prove not all Lemons are yellow!

I have purchased this car because of brand name, reliability and trust in Hyundai Cars. Last year on June 2019 I took the insurance claim because I had a minor accident with my car. I immediately sent my car to the Joshi Hyundai Agency (Chandigarh) for repairment. They changed few components i.e. driver side door, One Side mirror and re-painted the bumper (Front) and bonnet. Unfortunately, the vehicle has not been satisfactory because when I reached home, I saw the colour of bonnet and bumper (newly painted) was not matched with the entire car. Further, When I raised the complaint they accept and ask to leave the car for few more days. Though, I rely on my car for daily transportation but I have managed with them. After few days and during my next visit to Hyundai Service Centre for inspect/collect my car, I saw that the same problem was still there “colour mismatching”. I talked to them, but instead of listening and understanding me, they ignored me. That was Such a harassing moment for me. Even they denied for the bill and their comments were “We have solved your problem and there is no need to provide you the final invoice/bill. Please take this gate pass (attached for your ref.)”. After that, somehow I able to connect Company’s Concerned Person Mr. Gaurav ** (RPSH(NRO3)), He saw my car and agreed that yes, the problem is still there in color (i.e. colour mismatch problem).Then he requested me to visit the Mohali Branch Of Joshi Hyundai service centre and asked to leave my car for few days (According to him, there is no technical staff for painting of car at Chandigarh Branch). I have managed third time and left my car in agency in Jan 2020 To get the problem resoved. But, now this time i found several new problems that was unexpected. Instead of changing the colour of bumper and bonnet as required, they also changed the colour (repainted) of the left side back door and running board (left side) without my permission and moreover did not tell me, but was noticed by my own. I believe, prior information is right of customer/owner nowadays and your authorized service centres must be aware about it.Also, they break several locks (Rear Bumper) of my car. This is unbearable for a customer. Your company harrassed me several times along with unsatisfactory services which is against a consumer rights. After that I manage to contact Mr Manoj ** (National Customer Relation Head) over telephonic conversation and requested him to get my car done from some professional service center as Joshi Hyundai staff and Mr. Gaurav ** were unable to satisfied me. He assured me of problem redressal this time and requested personally to leave my car again to Joshi Hyundai Mohali Branch.As I had bad experience with Joshi Hyundai number of times, I requested him (Mr Manoj **) again to get it done from some other service center. But with assurance he requested me again to leave the car, I left my car 4th time at Joshi Hyundai Mohali Branch on 05 May 2020. This time they repainted only running board (left side) and replaced rear bumper (Whose locks were broken by them last time) and refused to repaint the mismatched parts. This was extreme now. Then on complaint, they (Mr Nittin **) have again requested for the car for repainting dated on 21st Jun 2020 but because of the lot of harassment, I did not visit. In last one and half year, I drive my car around 15000 Kms and it seems that this is 8-10 year old vehicle because of this colour issue. Either they don’t have the high quality paint facility or they get it one from 3rd party/vendor. You can see the paint quality and welding spots in attached pictures (for new painted doors).Hyundai is second largest manufacturer in Automobile sector after Maruti Suzuki in India. I have long been a customer of Hyundai Cars and considered that Hyundai is a high quality brand. But, I am damn sure that this kind of attitude/negligence will definitely destroy the biake my car back and refund my valuable money along with interest as I am not willing to regain anymore mental, financial and physical harassment.Neeraj

The person who gave us a jump start did it backward three times causing our car to set off an alarm and causing a surge charge to our car. Blew a fuse and the IMP box was fried. Now no one wants to take responsibility for the wrongdoing and $520.00 later and to top it off Im a suspect in this whole ordeal since the car was towed Sunday 2:33 am to our home and not towed to the dealer until Monday morning. So much for trust in services you pay for.Im canceling my service with them and make sure that I let people know how poorly I was treated and even accused of tampering with my own car. Really WTH, why would I try to fix something I have no idea how it works especially when the moron who charges my car wrong three times told us it was the alternator that was bad? I recently upgraded my car to 2012 (July 2012 model) the car had 35,000 miles, on clock now 40,000. After the first major service at approx 39,000 miles I found some difficulty in changing from 3rd gear up and sometimes changing down. Went to local dealer who had car for a day, stated car needed further checking. Felt gear box problems, but needed to strip down first and get permission from Hyundai to same under warranty.However the following day I was informed there were signs of wear on clutch and flywheel also need changing due to heat damage, also that repairs not covered by warranty. When I questioned further I was told same was caused by driver and repairs would cost 900 euro plus vat. I refused and told them to put car back together. I was charged 273 euro for same. In my opinion the guarantee is a joke. I have been driving for over 38 years and never caused damage to a clutch. My husband contacted the Irish head office and found them very unhelpful and bordering on rude. My advice to anybody thinking of changing to Hyundai is think again. Stay clear and save yourself a lot of trouble. Buyer beware.

I purchased a new (only 100 kms) 2009 Sante Fe last year that had been sitting on a dealers lot for two years. It is a standard front wheel drive and thats why they say it wouldnt sell because no one wanted a standard, but I did. Since my purchase (I now have 30,000 km), there has been a bad vibration between 80km-120 km. You can see the passenger seat and the back one shacking. I phoned the dealership I purchased it from who is 3.5 hours away from me and they told me that it was the tires and it was up to me to replace. (This was after several balances out of my own pocket.) So luckily, I found a good tire dealership whose tire rep said he would replace the tires at no charge. This did not fix the problem. So to save time and money, I went to a Red Deer Hyundai dealership (only 45 minutes away) and for the last four months, they have been trying to resolve it. I now have new motor mounts, new wheel bearings, two new axles and when that didnt work, they tried the transmission! When they opened it, it was all rusted and there were two rocks inside? They were baffled but figured a new transmission would fix it. It did not! So here I am today with my unsatisfactory car and an empty wallet! What do I do next? The dealership is at a loss and Hyundai Canada just keeps calling the dealership relaying the information I already know! I have had to take numerous days off work and so much fuel to travel back and forth to the dealership. Someone please help me! I would sell the vehicle but who would buy a vehicle that vibrates. Im so stuck and it makes me sick that I spent this kind of money and have horrible results.

My wife and I purchased a new 2010 Hyundai Sonata. We purchased this car because my wife commuted to work about 80 miles one way and liked the fact that it had the 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. The car has been great mechanically but now the exterior door handles are breaking off. I have since found out from 2 different dealerships that this is a known problem and was directed to file complaints with Hyundai and my Attorney General’s Office. Hyundai did contact me to address the complaint but refuse to offer any kind of assistance to repair the handles. I would not recommend this car to anyone looking to purchase one. This is not an isolated case. It is a known problem.
