2022 BMW X4 M Competition Review and Test Drive
Posted On: August 31, 2022
In today’s automotive landscape, SUVs and compact crossovers tend to be highly sought-after vehicles over coupes and sedans. BMW’s X3 and X4 compact crossovers have benefited from the popularity of such vehicles and on the performance edge of things the latest X4 M has risen to become quite the sleeper with its stunning performance that many didn’t see coming in the realm of BMW “M” Motorsport vehicles. The 2022 BMW X4 M Competition is a star within the brand that is eager to take on sports cars that are nearly twice its price and do it all while offering the versatility of a crossover. However, that versatility of a crossover is somewhat cut short by the X4 M’s unique coupe-like styling from its sloping rear roof design that’s taken the X3 and fundamentally sloped the rear roof area. While such a style may be an acquired taste for some, you must respect the boldness of automakers who want their crossovers to stand out more – and THIS X4 M Competition test vehicle adorned in its Sao Paulo Yellow paint does just that, stand out in a crowd. Thankfully, BMW retained the good looks of the respected kidney grille up front matching the darkened trim, lower grille, staggered 20-inch wheels, and large rear defuser area. The X4 M Competition looks the part of a menacing crossover and I think it’s the best the X4 has ever looked. Performance and Driving Character After all the years of experiencing BMW vehicles, I’m not at all surprised to jump in one and it immediately feels faster than BMW originally claims. The new BMW X4 M Competition is no different, which has an additional 30 horsepower and 16 lb-ft of torque over the non-Competition X4 M giving its turbocharged inline-6-cylinder engine 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, which feels like much more. With the direct and snappy-shifting ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission set in its fastest and most aggressive shift mode and launch control enacted by disabling the stability and traction control, the X4 M Competition is able to hit 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Yes, that’s very fast and much quicker than BMW estimates. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system tends to bias its power to the rear but don’t be surprised that the front wheels break loose a bit when launching. As the shifts fire off nearly like some of the best dual-clutch transmissions around, the X4 M Competition lurches forward with authority and hardly any drama. Put the unique crossover into a sharp turn and it grips like it’s nearly on rails feeling almost like a well-tuned sports coupe. There’s a hit of turbo lag from a stop when you don’t use the launch mode, which wants you to allow the engine to build boost to avoid that uninspiring turbo lag. Where I found fault with the new X4 M Competition is its twitchy feeling in the ride quality and steering sharpness, which is somewhat different from the non-Competition X4 M. While the steering is quite sharp it tends to be followed up with unwanted twitches in body movements where it feels like the front wheels need a toe-in adjustment. The suspension aided by adaptive dampers that have three settings that can be dialed up through a few different ways, one being through one of the two M steering wheel buttons, tends to be lax in its reaction to dips and rises in the road. Basically, the suspension is initially stiff but creates somewhat of a lofty feeling at times jarring any rear passengers. I feel BMW could easily do some retuning here and “fix” such a feeling. The BMW X4 M Competition nearly defies the laws of physics where you feel as if you can push it harder and harder to inch up to its limit. Even the braking from large 15.6-inch cross-drilled rotors clamped down by 4-piston calipers up front and 14.6-inch discs with single-piston calipers out back is strong and confident inspiring. In being part of the true M vehicle pedigree, the X4 M Competition is poised and ready for track duties just like its closely-matched M3/M4 siblings – only the X4 M Comp has a bit more weight and stature to contend with but adds the extra room and dash of practicality in a singular package. Fuel Economy The BMW X4 M Competition, just like many other BMWs, has a consistent rate of burning fuel when you’re not pushing it hard. Doing such, you’ll expect to easily match the EPA estimates of 15 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined. On the highway, you may even best the figure to get nearly 21.5 mpg as I did traveling at the posted 70 mph speed limit. Interior and Tech The cabin of the X4 M Competition is most of what you find in many other current BMW vehicles before the recent iDrive update. Using the iDrive 7 setup and the welcomed touchscreen and redundancy of controls is mostly a simple endeavor with a short learning curve. I can respect what BMW has done in their very last iteration of iDrive 7 before moving to the new iDrive 8 setup that I recently encountered in my BMW i4 review. There’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration along with the traditional simple controls that many have grown to enjoy in modern BMW vehicles. Otherwise, the BMW X4 M Competition adds some unique heated front seats that have good bolster support and the proper power adjustments including a versatile lumbar adjustment. The rear seating area is small and there’s not much headroom mostly due to the sloping rear roofline, which also contributes to a smaller rear window. Rearward visibility is still “okay” but not as good as you find in platforming sharing X3/X3 M. The same goes for cargo space being cut a little short from the sloping rear accessed by a power liftgate. Safety There’s a decent list of expected active safety features that come standard in the X4 M Competition (blind-spot monitors, front collision warning with emergency braking, and a high-resolution 360-degree camera system). There’s the option of adding the adaptive cruise control setup, and lane departure warning/mitigation, which was not equipped in my test vehicle. Price The BMW X4 M starts at $73,400 before any fees or options. The pay-to-play factor comes into the picture with the BMW X4 M Competition where the pricing tends to easily crest $80K with just a couple of option packages whereas my nicely equipped test vehicle comes to a price of $86,145. For a compact luxury-performance crossover, the X4 M Competition is among the best in its class in my opinion with shocking performance that leads the pack.

BMW 535i(2008) - I will never purchase another. Im sick of the lights low oil/low coolant. Stays in the shop. Im afraid every time I start the car up. Only have 66000 miles. When I purchased the car 3 years ago it only had 20,000. The first year water pump.

The 2006 BMW Z4 has a wonderful engine, smooth and powerful. Repairs are expensive so take care of it. It is nice to drive. Older models are very well equipped but not too technical. Good value for an older roadster.

The BMW 300 is great for everyday driving. I love driving its 6 speed manual transmission! Its super fun to drive around town as well as long distances. The hands free features are also well designed. But, even though its a German car, its awful in the snow. We were very surprised by the poor handling in snowy conditions. We would not purchase this model again because of the climate we live in. It does not handle slick roads or snow well at all. Taking this into consideration, we might look at a different model. We really only bought it for the manual transmission.

I purchased a 2011 BMW 550i xDrive from International Autos Group. I must say I love the car and am very happy with the purchase. The issue I have is with BMWs failure to honor the contract that was signed. The contract states the CPO warranty with a deductible of Not Applicable, yet BMW is charging $50 for every service. It took weeks for BMW North America to render a decision, and I think they knew it was the wrong decision, but nevertheless they told me to pound salt. The rep was very rude during our last call. It is my understanding that International Autos Group in Milwaukee, Wisconsin ultimately denied the request to honor the contract. I caution against working with this dealership. Have had much better BMW dealership experiences elsewhere.

I have been in contact with Tom ** BMW, Jacksonville, FL and there is a 280$ charge for the water test, plus the cost of repair, and I have to have my windshield replaced because the stripping is coming apart. I am appalled that I have had so many issues with this vehicle (2012 BMW 335i). When I purchased this car, my thinking was that I was receiving a premium vehicle; it is far from that. I could have saved a lot of money and purchased a Hyundai and still not have had this problems that I have had with this one. Thank you for taking time to read my complaint.

We bought a car two years ago from a local BMW dealer. Apparently, a class action had been filed for this particular car (a 2000 228CI) for sub-frame tearing. In their settlement, they only notified their first owners. This year, we ended up with sub-frame tearing. The cost of repair was $6000. We want this covered. They offered to cover $1000 if we promised to never sue them. We have signed nothing. We would like an attorney to contact us about the complaint and we would like to have the full cost of repairs covered as this is a safety issue. We have pictures and the original part. Sub-frame tearing? SUB-FRAME tearing? I had never even heard of this!

Originally I loved my 2011 BMW 335d diesel with 140,000 miles. I am the original owner. Vehicle develops serious carbon buildup due to direct injection. $4000.00 repair (decarb intake manifold). Manufacturer obviously knows about it because they stopped producing this vehicle. Then a few months later, emissions NOx sensors go bad and no way to fix without replacing catalytic converter and both front and rear NOx sensors. So far $2300 just for parts. The vehicle only gives you 200 miles to get her into a shop then it wont start. Imagine if every vehicle with a Check Engine Light on wouldnt run after 200 miles. To make matters worse, catalytic converters are back ordered going on three weeks now with a rental. Please advise.

I bought a new BMW 328i a couple of weeks ago and around all the wheels where the brakes are, shows a lot of rust. If BMW has been having this problem with this car they should have used a different wheel and cover plate to prevent from seeing this on a 42,000 dollar car.

This problem has plagued the in-dash GPS since our purchase of the 2011 X3. The GPS, a $2000+ options, is inaccurate and unreliable. Its colorful appearance is appealing; its directions are consistently idiotic. If you follow its suggestions, you will backtrack, adding unnecessary time and miles to your trip. The worst instance: In returning to PA from FL last summer, we were traveling North on the FL Turnpike, North of Miami. The GPS wanted us to exit the Turnpike, head west and south on the Sawgrass Expressway, and circle around, get back on the Turnpike, and retrace our course. If we had followed that route (which we knew enough not to) it would have added more than 50 miles to the trip. Locally, making a short (30 mile) trip that I do often, the GPS wants me to go North several miles on a side street, than head South on a four-lane surface road, connecting at an intersection that I would have encountered almost immediately if I had turned South instead of North on that side road. It doesnt matter which setting the GPS (fastest, shortest, etc.) was on, the directions are equally bad. My Garman, at a fraction of the cost, is reliable and almost eerily accurate on setting arrival times. The BMWs arrival time is a wild guess, usually off by 1/3 or 1/2 the total driving time. Repeated complaints and visits to our Dealership has accomplished nothing. The problem is with the manufacturer, and BMW is either unwilling or unable to correct the deficiencies. It is my contention that if BMW cannot offer a GPS commensurate with the price, it should not be offered until a reliable product befitting of the brand is available.

About two months ago I bought 2013 528i BMW CPO (Certified Pre-Owned). After buying the car overall I have driven the car for about a month. 2-3 weeks ago (that means I had the car less than month and half at the moment) I noticed that the driver seat upholstery has started cracking. The crack was very minor at the beginning and now apparently it is bigger (since very often I vacuum and clean my car I notice little things very easy...). I scheduled an appointment at Pacific BMW (BMW of Glendale, CA) and even I didnt think that I will stock in such situation since the mileage is less than 50,000 and the car is still within warranty and plus additionally I paid extra $7,000 for extended warranty. When I took the car to dealer the service adviser told me that the upholstery is not covered by warranty. Even counting the fact that my car has heated seats (heating elements in upholstery) still BMW doesnt cover such issues and to fix it will cost a lot of money since they have to replace the seat (OUT OF MY POCKET). No way! Its joke! I called BMW customer relations and explained that I just bought the car about month and half ago, that this 2013 528i is my 5th BMW and in the past I had 325i 525i, 328i, 5XX (dont even remember). The girl told me that she will try to do something and will call me back. About a week later received call from Supervisor or Manager of customer relations Kayla (sorry if misspelled) and she told me that BMW willing to cover 25% of the cost. Lets say if the cost of seat and labor is $2000 then they cover only $500!!! And for the car that I owned only month and half within warranty I have to pay $1500. So it was the second heart attack...I explained all the situation her that spending several tens of thousand, within warranty, customer for life... She said that all they willing to do now and she said if Im not going to do the job for 25% she will notify the service manager of the dealer that I change my mind. No way! Its totally rip off! You just barely sold the car to me and dont care about your customers and the facts. NEVER another BMW! I will tell my story all my friends and relatives and let them to decide if they want to face my situation and deal with BMW.

I purchased a Custom 530i series in 2005. The car has been the best in performance and care. We only just recently had to invest $ into the car and it has 119000 miles on it and that was for brakes. The only issue I have to complain is replacing tires every 2 years. Yes the handling is awesome BUT they should warn you that it wears on tires more than the average car.

I own a 650I, bought it from BMW dealer, always had it serviced by BMW dealer. At around 80,000 miles after having repeated problems with transmission, I was told I needed a new transmission and it was not covered by warranty. Also was told I need engine rebuilt! And also out of warranty! This car cost over $100,000, what type of valve stem guides do they use that they wear out at such low miles, not to mention a transmission, both items last longer on a $30,000 Honda... How pathetic!I spoke with BMW North America. They refused to warranty the defective items, and if one would check the new engines in BMWs, they would find most are burning oil very prematurely because the new engine design is built with sub par parts... This is a car costing over $100,000.00. I am disgusted with this horrible excuse of a luxury vehicle and more so the haughty attitude of BMW. One more thing, the dealer I was using Checkered Flag is horrible. They returned my car after a service, 4 quarts low on oil. When I called them, they said the oil sensor was faulty, when actually it was their lazy and inept service approach. I have engaged the services of a lawyer on this one!

Less than a month ago I made a terrible decision of switching from Toyota to BMW. I was surprised to find that my new car is causing serious BACK issues on my body. I called BMW to request a car return or exchange they said no. Now I have a super expensive car that I can’t drive because if I keep driving it will cause serious back pain to develop on my body. I believe all sports models that have the seat low cause lower back issues. Shout me an email if anyone is experiencing similar issues with BMW.

Ive had the car for three months and every month, the car has been in the shop. I have spoken to the manager about the problems, but kept getting the runaround. Now Ive had the car for three months and theres a clicking sound when I make a left turn. When I told the manager about this problem, he told me I have to pay for parts and labor. I paid $2,000 for a car that was supposed to be certified thats really not. I was sold a car that is supposed to be 160 points certified and was not. This dealer is telling me that I have to pay for parts and labors on a car I only had for three months and now Im having a hard time getting anything done with the management which I paid $2,000 to for a car that I shouldnt be paying to repair.

I purchased a 2015 BMW 435i brand new. I purchased all the extended warranties and maintenance packages. Since 2017 I have had an ongoing issue with the car not starting. It happens when least expected. I have replaced the battery 3 times in the last year. The last time it was in for repair I was told that they could not replicate the problem. So basically BMW cannot fix their own product. I was so frustrated. I told my service advisor that if they can’t fix it then no one can! No one cared! I called customer relations to No avail.I thought I would be able to keep this car for many years to come but due to its unreliability, I had to trade it in for a completely different brand. I lost tens of thousands of dollars! Last but not least, I called the finance department to get a refund on what was left of the extended warranties only to find out that many of them are no refundable! I will tell anyone who will listen, do NOT purchase any of these vehicles, they are not the quality that they are marketed to be. I know at least three other people who have had multiple problems with various models. One of which sued with lemon law and got another vehicle. I did not want another vehicle, I just wanted them to fix mine! This was a VERY expensive lesson learned.

In a period of last 12 months, my 2010 BMW X5 has had the following failures, which leads me to believe either that BMW has no quality in their products or this SUV is just a lemon. 1. Check Engine Light - Radiator replaced in Jan 2014. 2. Car slows down in the middle of the road and stops - Fuel pump bushings replaced in Aug 2014. 3. AC stops working - AC leak Schraeder valve- Aug 14 4. Thrust rod replaced - Aug 14 5. Check engine light on - Oil leak from Oil Filter Housing - Nov 146. High pitched noise from the hood - Crank Case Vent system - Dec 14Called BMW for the last problem today and they just washed their hands off. Leads me to believe that they dont stand behind their product. Buyers beware. Do your research before you buy. There is certainly no driving experience here. It is the fear of your car stalling at any time.

Purchase a BMW 328i late Dec 2012, 48,800 miles. Im retired, drive less than 8,500 miles a yr., pick up my grandkids from school 12 miles roundtrip. In the first 2 months after I got this car Ive taken it back to the dealership at least 5x. RED FLAG. Check engine light on, door wont open, oil leak. Dealerships fix everything, no problem till June 2013 & no longer under 50,000. Had this car 5 1/2 months, at the dealership 6 times & had to pay over $990 to the blower on the AC. Since then Ive paid for several oil leaks, gasket valve replaced, door locks because it was a mechanical problem, window problems, AC problems - 2 more times had to raise hell about that to get it fix & still charged me $150.00 for a part because only the blower was under warranty. Check engine light NEVER goes off & no one knows why.Picked up my grandson from school on a hot day, the car just stopped. No lights, no warning, just died. Took it back to the dealership that informed me my break fluid was leaking, my transmission may have problems & my suspension is going out... my car was just at the dealership for routine oil change, break fluid & tires 3 weeks before it stopped. I ask them about a noise my car made when I turn left/right but they didnt hear or see anything. They gave me a quote for everything that needs fixing & I almost hell passed out, I had to get 2nd quote. While driving home on the freeway front suspension went completely out, tried to stop that, car was all over the place, it scared me so bad I had to pull off the Fwy. I just cried, 35 mins later start car back up, took the side streets, home only 10 mins away when my car started shaking. I stopped at lights, it would shake more & act like it was going to die... Who knows what the hell that is.I financed this car, make payments, take great care of it... Only drove it to pick up my grandkids, get groceries & church... I would park it on the weekends cause my daughter would pick me up... Those miles on the car came from driving back & forth 40 min 1 way to the dealership 15 time in less than 3 yrs... Its been sitting for 2 weeks. Im too scared to drive it, even if I could afford all these recent repairs $8,000-$10,000... THIS IS THE WORST CAR I EVER HAD... This car has been in the shop more than I actually driven it. Ive spent over $3,800 not including routine maintenance on a car I didnt drive when it did run... This car is nightmare. Every time I look at it I start to cry... WHOEVER READ THIS, NEVER BUY A BMW EVER. Lease a new model, 2 yr then take it back... Can I sue BMW??

My 2005 645 CI is as awesome as it is a nightmare. It drives great, it looks great but I have had problems with the convertible top since I bought the vehicle. While driving with the top closed, a warning comes on: convertible top not locked. At this point the convertible top and the rear window cannot be operated, and if the rear window was open at the time that the warning came on, such window is stuck in the open position. At times such warning disappears while I continue driving a few moments or a few miles, at times it disappears after the engine has been shut down, and at times it continues to stay on until the problem is fixed by the dealer. The car has been at the dealer for this reason more than 15 times, the rotation sensors have been changed three times and they have been re-adjusted and/or re-positioned the other times. In 2010, I wrote about such problem to the management of the local dealer, as well as to BMW USA. The malfunction continues to happen, regardless. I just got back the vehicle from the dealer 2 days ago (beginning of August 2012), still for the same reason. I am reaching the point where if the problem re-occurs, I am going to dump my loved/hated car.

I had service done at Vista BMW in Coconut Creek, FL after receiving via email service coupons and discounts. After the service was done and the emailed coupons were presented the Service Manager denied and did not apply the coupons. 20% discount was offered on any service done at the dealer. After the service was done, the manager refused to apply the coupon and pointed out the fine print. This coupon is very deceiving as it was very clear that they wanted to get customers pulled into the dealership for service thru this offer, only to turn it down when it was time to pick up the vehicle.

I would have to say that I agree with all the other reviews regarding this horrific company. I have had my BMW for 3 years and it was time to turn in my lease. Autovin had come to my house and inspected the car - they reported no problems at all to me. Called BMW FS to confirm that everything was fine a few days later and was informed that everything was good to go and I could turn in the car. I return the car a few days later to BMW Freehold & that evening I called BMW FS to inform them I dropped off the car and that I had fulfilled all responsibility on my end including paying for mileage overages. At that time, the representative advised I had to pay $300 for a tire that was 3 on the tread since they allow 4 and above. This was complete news to me & I called spoke to manager Asha ** who was the least bit helpful and all she could say was, Sorry, we cannot do anything else. I spoke to another supervisor Erin ** who also had no authority to make any changes & said this is how it is. It would have been nice to been informed of any wear on the tire as I could have replaced it myself and saved $200. I am about to get a new BMW in two weeks but definitely will not get that anymore. Word to the wise - DO NOT LEASE FROM BMW, they will screw you at the end and wont tell you about it until later when you are helpless.

I owned a 2008 BMW 335i and experienced the same issue that is being recalled on the 2010- 012 models. I now own a CPO 2011 335i and the starting my car sounds as if the car hasnt been cranked in 2 months. While in park the engine is super loud and revs for no apparent reason. The dealerships are nothing but vacuums for money. After having a tire replaced for the 2008 at one dealership, the water pump failed less than 5 feet of the service garage door; but I was told this was normal and could happened. Please note that the car never had any warning signs of overheating or loss of a/c power or anything. This was $1200 to fix. The service manager was smug and uninterested in my concerns. His only offer was to allow me to leave my car on their premises and charge me a fair rate for renting a car. On the same 2008 model, I was driving on the expressway and out of the blue my car loses engine power and goes into safe mode. This was $800 to fix. I contacted BMW customer care and the rep couldve cared less, telling me I was out of warranty and nothing they could do about it. If this automaker cared anything for their customers they would deliver superior products and superior customer service. Unfortunately, this automaker fall short on both.

I bought a brand new 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe xDrive which cost me $104K. After driving my car 13k miles, I got an oil change from a non BMW repair center which is okay according to BMW. The shop was not able to take off the service light when it turned on at 15k miles. They told me its not a problem because I already got the oil change; I should take it to BMW to take the service light off. Within five days, my car shut down and I got it towed to BMW of Bayside. When I took it to BMW of Bayside, they automatically declined my service because I never took the car for an oil change at a BMW dealer and told me I owe $18,500 for a new engine. I spoke to the service manager and I told him I had a valid receipt for repair. He was quick to answer, It doesnt matter to me. Your cars warranty is void. I quickly reached out to BMW of NA and going back and forth, they asked to see the receipt just to waste my time for two months. Now BMW of Bayside and BMW NA does not want to give me information or a reason why they arent covering me especially after BMW of Bayside told me when they received the car, it had only 4.5 quarts in the car and only 3500 miles over the normal 15000 miles per oil change limit, which should be enough to drive it even if I didnt get an oil change. Im now in the position of not paying for my car and leaving it in the shop. I will burn my credit before I shell out $28k for a warranty item!

I have truly enjoyed the 2014 BMW convertible. It is just fun to drive. I often get told how nice it is. The take off is fast and the controls on the wheel make it less distracting to answer phone or navigate the radio. The overall look is very attractive. I am very short and the seats fit me perfectly. They allow a large range of positions so it also helps my pain from a cancer removal. By the way, the truck release on the key remote drives me nuts. Its like it has a combination of buttons to hit. The car also has a very small trunk so I am not able to purchase larger items.

Our BMW M235i coupe, was involved in an accident, another car hit it from the back, so they are responsible. The car has been sitting in the body shop for over 2 months as it is missing one piece that BMW USA does not have available. They are not giving us any estimation as of when this piece will be ready but minimum it could be another month! And in the meantime not compensation for the lease payments while we are waiting for that piece from BMW! It is unbelievable that BMW leases cars that they dont have the all the spare parts available and they expect customers to continue renting a car until its ready! Over 3 months or more... Also their customer services is appalling! They dont bother to even be nice or understanding of the situation.

I placed a new vehicle order for a BMW X5 in September 2014, at BMW Monrovia, CA. BMW North America (NA) changed the delivery date several times. I had no confidence in them but my sales guy kept telling me different stories why they had to put off the delivery. I finally got my vehicle in November 2014. BMW NA then said they would give me a goodwill check ($1,028) for late delivery.I started to have a nightmare for this check. After two months I did not see the check, I went to ask my sale guy at the dealership. He later told me BMW NA sent a $500 check to my previous address. (My sales guy made a mistake by giving BMW NA that address as I had not lived there for two years). He said he had contacted BMW NA several times to ask for the check. It appears no one there was taking care of this matter. After hard pursuit, I finally had my check delivered to me in May 2015. That is six months later after they made their promise. I had to chase after my sales guy who was lazy by not advising me timely what was going on with this matter. The experience was horrible. There was no such thing called customer service with BMW NA. It is shame you have to keep chasing after them closely for more than six months to do their work. It is a shame with BMW NA.

DO NOT buy car from this dealer!!! This deal is selling you a defective car!!! I purchased a brand new 2020 X7 from this dealer. And the car was broken after 7 days driving: 1. The touch screen is 100% off, I cannot control anything on the display. 2. The bluetooth wipe out my and my wifes phone (Andriod and iPhone both) connection 3 time a week, which mean we need to reconnect/reconfigure our phone connection every other day. 3. The battery is dead permanently, the error signal was on when I purchased it originally, but the sales told me it will be back to normal after couple days driving. But after 1 week driving, the battery error signal is still there, and need to be replaced. 4. The rubber seal on the front end hook is coming out, and looks really ugly and do not match the BMW brand at all. 5. The auto lock is not function at all. After enabling this feature, the auto lock still not working at all. This feature is very normal one on any premium brand car back to 5+ year ago. I personally own another Acura and Tesla, all of cars have this function and there is no problems to use such function in the past 3 years.6. All of the cellphone app remote control function is not working on my car. I cannot lock/unlock/flash/horn the car via the phone app.I drop off the car 5 calendar days (4 business) ago. And service department is still working on it, from the time it took, I can definitely tell this is not a small issue. Since the service adviser told me, replacing a new battery will only cost them half business day. So for sure, there is a huge defective on this brand new X7 car. I am really surprised that this dealer will sell defective car to the customer, especially on such high end/premium 7 series product line. Update @2020-06-24: After 5 days waiting, today afternoon the service department just called me back, saying the display is totally off, and cannot be fixed by them. So they decided to order a new display from BMW, and the new part will by arrived in Friday (so another 3 business days waiting). And then they will need to replace the display part completely! Can you imagine this is what happened to a brand NEW X7, with 7 days driving and only less than 200 mileage.

I looked up all of these reviews to decide what to do about my 2011 BMW Coupe. I previously owned a 2007 328xi sedan. When the 6 years of warranty ran out, I had expenses of over $1000 frequently. I traded it in on a 2011 Coupe, with warranty. I almost have 50,000 miles on this car and I will definitely spend $2000.00 to get the next warranty. Then I will sell the car or trade it in. I love my BMWs. They are fun to drive and MY dealers have been great. The first was DeSimone BMW in Mt. Laurel, NJ, the current one is in Atlantic City, NJ. I always get a loaner car. The staff is polite and they answer my every need. As long as the car is under warranty, it is all good. It is so sad for me to read the horror stories on this site. I thought I was getting ripped off buying my 2011, it seems not. I wish the best for all of you. These are expensive cars, and for me they are worth it for the service and atmosphere, AND driving.

I leased a 2015 BMW 428I - I have had timely payment without interruptions. I have had very minor maintenance issues. BUT it seems as I have found myself with an ongoing to date unresolved electrical issue -- specific to the radio. I have take this car 5 times back to the dealer to no avail. I am without my car for days and sometime weeks. And it seems as if they cant get it right. As I am now again experiencing malfunctions yet again with the RADIO. I have exhausted all energy with this. My lease is up in two months --- I have opted to contact BMW and suggest/offer to at this point just return the car two months early as it makes no sense to again take the car back to the dealer for the SAME ongoing issue and have them keep the car for days and so thereafter have the same issue reappear.I was insulted and disappointed that I was offered to take the car back early without being charged for the last two months of the lease BUT only if I agreed to purchase another car... What a major insult to my current situation. I would have expected a prestigious establishment to OWN their LEMON and offer me an amicable solution enough to have me re-gain confidence in not only there product BUT the way that treat/satisfy their customers. After rejecting the horrible offer I was told they will revisit and have me wait until June 7th -- for my final answer. Very disappointing to say the least. My situation has been established by records of the amount of times this car has been worked on for the SAME issue. But yet they want me to wait an additional week. SHAME ON BMW USA.

I leased a 2015 320i BMW. The check engine light turned on. When I took it to BMW they told that unfortunately they have put a sensor in the bottom of the car and that the sensor has no cover. Since BMW are low cars and the city is full of bumps and potholes the cables of the sensor broke. They told me that the warranty doesnt cover that. I had to pay for the part and hours of labor. I believe its not fair to any bmw customer that because bmw (unfortunately) located a sensor in an inappropriate place and decided not cover it, we have to pay for that when it should be included on the warranty.

BMW offers a reunite program but only 250 miles or under warranty repairs. I call BS! They want to charge me the difference in mileage for the return of my vehicle which is $250. Water pump replacement $600.00. Check this one out, engine transfer coolant pipe $2000.00 and thats using the bimmer pipe. Thanks to the guys. They invented this wonderful pipe that save me $5000.00. Yeah. BMW want it 7k for this job. AC heater valves $200.00, AC compressor $1050. Im the second owner of this car. I bought it with 40,000 miles. Now the car has 74,000 miles and more problems. Now the car doesnt want to start. It cant keep idle. I think its the throttle body or it could be the DME again-- look guys, Im sharing all of this with you guys cause I see all of this. People that want to buy a use BMW pls dont. Its cheaper to buy a glass of lemonade if you know what I mean. For me I rather died than buy a BMW new or used. Again thats all I have to said about that. While headed to vacation from New Jersey to Canada, our BMW 328i xDrive beg
While headed to vacation from New Jersey to Canada, our BMW 328i xDrive began to experience a tapping sound from the engine and shortly thereafter, the check engine light lit up, at which point we used the BMW Assist feature for advice and to locate the nearest BMW Dealer. Explaining our situation to the BMW Representative, we asked for the nearest BMW dealer. Unfortunately they were over a hundred miles away, but the BMW representative informed us that we could continue to drive the vehicle with the service engine light on indefinitely as long as it wasnt red or flashing. We thanked her and proceeded on our journey. A couple of hours later, the tapping turned into a knocking sound and we again used the BMW Assist feature who located a dealer in Rochester, NY. She proceeded to place a 3-way call and remained in the background to listen. We were informed from the dealer that they could not get us in, but he reiterated that we could continue to drive the vehicle with the service engine light on indefinitely as long as it wasnt red or flashing. We continued into Canada, checked into a hotel, and parked the car for the night, searching the internet to locate the closest dealer which turned out to be Performance BMW in St. Catherines Ontario. We brought the car to Performance BMW in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada in the hopes that they could have a look to diagnose the problem.Tanya ** was very understanding and sympathetic to our situation and she got our car right into a bay for diagnosis. We sat patiently for almost 2 hours until we were informed that it is taking longer to figure out the problem, and that BMW uses Enterprise Rental rather than loaner BMWs and we were put into a Hyundai Sonata, which is NOWHERE near a comparable vehicle to what I have purchased. After returning to the dealer to get the remainder of our luggage, Tanya informed us that as soon as they have a diagnosis, they would contact us.We returned to the dealer the following day hoping to get the car, and continue our vacation to New Hampshire, when we were informed that the main bearing of the crankshaft was the problem, and that the parts have to be ordered from Germany, which would take anywhere from 3-6 weeks plus the time needed to put everything back together. We were advised that Performance BMW could only cover the rental for the end of the day (second day) and that we would have to cover the remaining rental time, and then submit our expenses as part of the trip interruption clause, but there is no guarantee that it will be reimbursed. We have made several attempts to contact BMW North America. All we have been told is that until we have our vehicle back & submit our expenses, BMW North America will take the expenses under consideration for reimbursement. This is unacceptable.BMW of Mt. Laurel (purchasing dealer), indicated that if we had brought our car there for repairs, we would have received a loaner car until our vehicle was complete; and Performance BMW indicated that if we had purchased the vehicle in Canada, and brought it there for repairs, we would have received a loaner car until our vehicle was complete; but since a foreign dealer is working on a foreign car, neither dealer wants to cover the cost of the BMW loaner vehicle that we are entitled to let alone figure how to get it back to us.Once the car has been repaired and everything is in working order, we now have a new problem. We already took our vacation, now we have to take time off work to get our vehicle that failed. In addition, we now have a new car that had to have its engine rebuilt with less than 30,000 miles...not only will it affect our comfort level in this vehicle (do we take it on a trip, will it break down, what will it cost, etc.) but now we feel that this will affect the trade-in value of the car. I have spoken w/ several service advisers and sales personnel all said that this engine issue is not at all common, and the work will not affect the value of the car. However, I do not believe that is an accurate statement. There has to be something that can/will be done by BMW to correct this issue. At this point, I feel that BMW should replace the vehicle w/ a comparable BMW. If your resolve of this matter is not to our satisfaction, we will have no other choice but to leave the BMW and purchase a better quality luxury vehicle.

But every time, he doesnt provide me with replacement car immediately. Instead, I have to wait for up to a week sometimes provided, I dont have a second car. The second issue, which is more important; why are there repeated engine faults in my car when it’s still new? Is it a manufacture fault? This is serious! I recently purchased 2012 BMW 5 series. It was 51k miles on it and this car had a very good maintenance record. I was thinking thats a very good deal to get a low mileage, well maintained and reliable car. But as for now it appears to be the worst purchase I ever made in my life. I drove it for few month (now it has 57k miles) and got transmission fail for no reason, BMW service asking for $6500 for repairs. How it could happens on that ridiculous mileage? I drove many other brands and some of them was well over 100k miles on it, and were just changing oil. So Ill probably fix it and sell right away accepting loss, I totally lost my confidence in BMW, thats garbage. Dont want to wait until engine will fail in next few thousand miles. BMW Goodwill only works for valued customers who already spend fortune for them. My point is that BMW cars is a total junk! I bought an 18 month old BMW 520d 2010 version on the basis of the fuel economy stats of 60+ mpg on the open road and 44 mpg in urban areas. I purchased the car from Vines Approved BMW dealer in Guildford, Surrey, UK. In practice, the car is only giving me 40 mpg on the open road and 25 in urban areas. I was given an as new warranty from the dealer and they have fully checked the car and they say that all the parts work fine, .etc but the practical answer is that they dont. A gap of 20mpg between advertised and actual performance is simply not close enough to be ignored. My legal question relates to the product description being completely misleading in their advertising and now they are hiding behind parts performance rather than the operating performance that they sell the car on. I have asked for them to either buy the car back or give me compensation based upon actual performance relative to that which is promised and they have rejected me. I would be most interested to know if others have had similar experience and whether I have legal grounds to pursue them.

That claim to fame ended a few months later when the transmission failed on my BMW as I was shifting from reverse to drive. I couldnt believe it! How could this happen to a car with only 20,000 miles on it?!?! And a BMW for that matter. The cost to replace the transmission was $6,000!!!! That stung badly! In the coming years I also experienced very costly repairs ranging from HVAC issues, electrical problems, fuel issues, power steering failure, brake problems, a fractured subframe, cooling problems, Harman Kondom speakers rattling the interior when playing heavy bass music, broken and leaky sunroof, interior trim falling off, squeaks and rattles in seats and dashboard, popping steering wheel, cruise control failure, HID headlight burnout and I rarely drove in the dark, leaky trunk, power window motors failing, front turn signal housings getting wet inside and causing shorts. The cost of repairs on this hunk of junk amounted to over 15,000 dollars!!!!!!! All on a car with less than 100,000 miles! How horrible is that?! I had to sell my precious BMW for a mere $4,000 in 2009. What a piece of junk! Now I know why the original owner sold this crappy car and was driving a new Lexus sedan. I ended up buying a used 2006 Honda Civic Si that has been 100% trouble free and now has 183,000 miles on it. Im still reeling from my horrible BMW experience! I realize now that I was a pretentious fool thinking that driving a BMW was going to make me noticed and important on the road. Boy, was I wrong! DO NOT BUY A BMW!!!

I own a 2008 335i with 50k miles. I was alerted via the mail that there was an airbag recall. When I called the 800 number and gave them my VIN I was then told it had 3 recalls. I called the closest BMW dealer to schedule repair. I was told they could not give me a loaner car even though I am an hour away and the three recalls would take all day. Upon arriving at the dealer with my wife following me in another vehicle I observed customer after customer receiving loaner vehicles for only routine service. The recalls werent my fault, BMW offered no help at their 800 number. This will be the last BMW I ever own. I own or have owned Mercedes, Porsche, Ford and GM. In this day and age vehicles have issues I understand that but BMW should have stepped to the plate and at least offered a loaner for a 7 hour repair. They did not...This review may not mean much or my one wallet may not mean much to them but they will not receive any more of my hard earned money....

Im a long time owner of many BMWs. Ive tried other cars but always come back to BMW. Nothing compares to their look, reliability, handling, maintenance included with warranty plan, and safety. Other comparable cars do not offer the comprehensive maintenance plan that BMW does, and that factor is huge and is at the top of my must-have list. There were times I looked at other cars and came close to buying/leasing, but no maintenance plan always brought me back!

The paint on the roof is fading & the rubber seal around my back window is chipping and cracking on my 2005 530i. I have gone to the BMW dealer & was told it was normal wear & tear. I have a 1999 Acura & the paint is not fading nor have any of the seals cracked on the windows. It is a shame you pay all this money for a BMW and the body of the car does not hold up. I have also gone to several body shops & been told the roof must be painted & window seal replaced. I am now forced to pay to have my roof painted and seal replaced on the back window.

I have had my 2011 528I since 09-02-11. Its a great car. BMW advertises that the only thing you have to pay for is tires and gas. I complained about the $1900 NAV system, and that it was not very user friendly, and that my $200 Magellan was a much better device. I had gone to the dealer, asking for a software upgrade, as the device had trouble finding known businesses that I attempted to locate as a test of the system. I was told that it would cost me $400 for an upgrade (which they recommend 4 times a year). I can buy 2 Magellans with free lifetime upgrades for that price. When I complained to BMW USA, they told me they had no control over local dealers, and they could charge any price they wanted. So much for the Tires & Gas.

BMW K1200r motorcycle - I bought the bike new in 2006; it now has 5000 miles on it and the transmission is shot. After being told by the dealer it will cost $6,000 to repair and BMW has a known issue with this transmission to the extent that they totally redesigned a new transmission that my existing clutch and associated parts will not be compatible with, they will not do anything towards customer goodwill even though they have known of this problem and never sent a notice while it was in warranty to get it checked out. I guess its true that BMW is an acronym for Bring My Wallet. This will be the last BMW anything I ever own. Such poor customer service!

Purchased new 525i in 2001. Should have never purchased new 2009 528I. Spent too much time prior to 50K mileage warranty having BMW serviced and too much time plus money after 50K for other vehicle problems that were not covered by warranty. Called North America BMW headquarters in New Jersey. Headquarters could care less about their product and customers. Bought Porsche Cayenne 4 years ago and wondered what I ever saw in BMW. Complete night and day difference in quality of the vehicle. I will tell as many potential BMW buyers to NOT purchase a BMW. Do NOT purchase BMWs. I have been told that a significant amount of the money made by the company is from the repairs of the vehicles. Surely BMW headquarters is aware considering they are supplying the parts for all of the expected/planned repairs.

I was told by an honest employee at BMW in GA that all plastic on the newer BMWs are recycled and sprayed on. I am now getting peeling plastic all over the inside of my car (2006 BMW 330i). My outside passenger lower panel is coming off because the screws are plastic and cheap and cant hold the panel, so the panel is falling off. My back window regulator which, again, is made of plastic, wont let me roll up my window. Once the window is down, its broken! It wont go back up!I hate BMWs. Like one mechanic told me, BMW has built these cars to break down. They dont want you getting 200,000 or 300,000 miles on them, any longer. They want them to be problematic so you take the car back to BMW for them to rip you off and say to hell with it, Ill buy another BMW! BMW is getting greedy, and they need to die a slow death. BMW lease assumptions program/department is a huge scam. Keep your money. They have a really good side hustle going on, here we go. So I decided to do a lease assumption. The payment on the M4 is $1015 per month. I make over $90,000 per year so I can definitely afford the car, my credit score is 759 but I don’t have any of the 4 car I had prior showing on my credit report because that was 10 years ago. They were all deleted. Now I was under the impression if you have good accounts that are paid in full zero balance whether open or close they stay on your report it. I was wrong. So with that being said I applied for the car on my own. I make $90,000, 759 Score, outstanding debt. Less than $2000. This should be no problem. I paid the $543 transfer and app fee to be declined with no logical explanation. Took them less than a minute to make that rash decision but kept $143 of the $543 so I went and got a co-signer not a person a corporation that co-signs for people. That’s the business they are in. Now BMW is telling them it’s too expensive of a car. I should get something cheaper which is beyond ridiculous. I make enough to pay for this car and the backing of a corporate and that’s still not enough, but now they kept another $143 so they have a really nice scam going on. Spend your money where it’s appreciated.

Love this car (X1) great value for the price. It drives beautifully and has UNBELIEVABLE radius. Its extremely solid and easy to keep clean. However, its small inside and will not fit standard car seats. Also, the beeping and chimes are total overkill and cause anxiety. The clock cannot be seen well. The worst part is the locks. You cannot open the door and then immediately open the back door or hatch. It requires crawling back in to push the unlock button TWICE and the button is near the center instead of the door. Dumb and difficult spot! But we feel safe in this car.

Bought 2014 BMW X3 with 3900 miles and used as loaner at Silver Spring, MD BMW dealer. Right after 1st oil change at the dealer, I can hear loud ticking noise coming from the engine. Strange!! Next week took back to dealer to get it checked to get it fixed. At the end of the day dealer called me saying they could not find any trouble with the car and they compare the noise with brand new 2014 BMW X3 and the noise is normal. Took the car back home and after week the ticking noise is still constant and now I can hear it on the upper first floor window of my home. What a disappointment!! I will take back to dealer as I did research on internet and found that this kind of trouble lot of other people have also. I have 2012 Honda CRV and it still runs very silky smooth and cost half of this BMW X3. If BMW dealer cannot fix it, I will fight till they buy back it from me as this is nothing but a lemon. I purchased a 2018 BMW X5 in 2017. We bought a brand new vehicle so I wouldn’t have to be having car trouble. I’ve owned the vehicle about 14 months and it has had 2 engine malfunctions within one year. The vehicle just starts shaking and completely shuts off! Both times it happened in the freeway were cars are driving a constant speed of over 55 miles. Luckily I was able to just merge to the side of the freeway without causing an accident. Very bad experience just thinking I could of put my kids in danger since the engine just shuts off out of nowhere. This last time we were stranded in the grapevine where there was no stores or gas station close by just waiting for the tow truck to arrive. Both times my car has been in service for over a week. I am trying to request a replacement for a car that is not faulty or if they can just reimburse me what I’ve paid for and return the vehicle. I am very disappointed. We thought that one of the best car makers were BMW and it has let me down especially for the price.

Was recently informed by BMW they are no longer supporting BMW ASSIST which is a feature that INCLUDED (past tense) collision detection as well as stolen vehicle recovery along with other functionality such as being able to send Google directions to the vehicle. My X5 is a 2012 (!) vehicle!!! With all the BS advertising BMW has out there about how great their cars are and how safety is a great concern for their customers, trying to get an answer other than we are sorry for any disappointment this may cause you is totally and complete BS!The manner I found out about their decision to stop supporting these features is not because I purchased one of their vehicles (brand new) but because I noticed the ability to send directions to my vehicle was not working. Pretty pathetic manner to manage customer loyalty. BUYER BEWARE if buying a used BMW... UNDERSTAND CLEARLY your vehicle based on whatever year it may be (2013 BACK...??!) will not have important safety features such as collision detection nor stolen vehicle recovery... period. If I had not purchased an extended warranty to 100 K miles I would be selling this thing ASAP. Will be a cold day in hell before I purchase another vehicle from this company.

Hi my name is Kizy **. I am a newlywed and also have a baby on the way. My problem is I bought a BMW 2011 X6 that was under warranty when I purchased it for my wife in 2013. it had a 3 year warranty or 50,000 miles on the car. My problem started on August 18 2014 when the car overheated. I took it to the BMW store in Rochester, Michigan. I was told that the coolant to the turbo needed to be replaced which was fine and I picked up my car two weeks later. On September 2, 2014, I picked up my vehicle and drove it to Costco but as I was leaving Costco, I noticed that my car left a puddle of antifreeze underneath my car, so I ended up having my car towed to the dealer again. They then said they found two leaks in the car and the tank was leaking. They said they repaired the cap. My car was in the shop for over two weeks then I had to have it towed again and it stayed there for another five days!A couple days later, my low coolant light came on so I called the dealer and spoke with the service rep, **. He told me it could be a bubble in the system from when they flushed it out. They handed me a quart of coolant and told me to put it in my car and if the light goes back on, to give them a call because they were busy. So I added a quart of coolant and then a couple days later, my light went back on and because it was a Friday they could not get me in that day so they gave me two more quarts to add to my car. I did not think anything of it so I did as he instructed and added 1 quart more so light would turn off.I went to the movies with my wife and her eyes started itching and we both started to feel sick and nauseous. I was getting upset that my pregnant wife and my future baby were in danger for inhaling coolant! The next day, I called BMW North America and spoke to a lady named Betsy. She advised me to take my car back to the dealer that day and I did. I explained to BMW North America my concerns and how important it is for me to make sure my pregnant wife is safe and healthy!! I explained to everyone at the dealership all my concerns regarding my car and my familys health. On October 24, 2014, I brought my vehicle in for service because of the coolant scent in my vehicle and my car had been burning a quart of oil almost every week. BMW Rochester found that the coolant/antifreeze return lines to the turbo were leaking into the engine and the car was returned to me on November 03, 2014. On November 05, 2014, my wife and I were out and she noticed the scent and told me they did not fix my vehicle because she could still smell it and her eyes were burning again. Her senses and her smell were stronger than mine because she was pregnant. So I called BMW North America and the dealership to explain to them whats going on. I brought my car back into the dealership for this same issue now being the fifth time and I had service reps **, and the head mechanical get into my car so they could smell the coolant I have been trying to get them to fix and also told them how my car had been losing its oil. On November 06, 2014, I brought my car back into the dealership and the head service rep, **, told me coolant was coming in because the bottom pan wasnt treated properly and he was going to make sure that his top serviceman was going to treat it this time. At this time, I was angry and I felt that BMW wasnt taking my case seriously and using my pregnant wife and I as test dummies. They would fix the one problem but not all of them and if it didnt work, they would keep telling me to come back in. I just dont feel like the dealership or BMW cared about our health or safety and they used us as test dummies. On December 12, my reduced power came on and my low coolant came on. I called BMW of Rochester. They told me not to bring my vehicle back into the dealership and refused services and told me to go to Erhard of BMW at 4065 Maple Road Bloomfield Hills to fix my problem. I was really upset that I had to drive an hour and some time to go to the dealer to have my problem fixed! The service guy ** at Erhard told me on December 19, 2014, that there was a coolant leak again coming in my Vehicle from the bottom of my turbo line and the computer needed to be reprogrammed. He also said I needed the spark plugs and intake replaced. I still havent gotten my car back. My biggest concerns are my familys health and safety. Im also concerned of the internal damage and the value of my vehicle depreciating. Im at a loss for words with BMW and the dealership and dont understand why I kept getting the runaround and still do not have my vehicle correctly repaired! The distress this has caused my wife and I has been unnecessary!

Friends and family I wanted to share my recent experience with BMW to forewarn any of you who might be considering purchasing a vehicle with them. Although this post is long, I please urge you to read through and leave comments and share to strengthen my case against BMW. I own 2010 535I GT. Summary of my experience: I had initially gone to BMW to repair a faulty water pump, where they should have also discovered the other issues they later diagnosed during their 27-point inspection. These issues were overlooked and I had to bring my car back to get re-diagnosed, where they estimated $5,700 in repairs. After the repairs were done, a new problem arose, and funny enough, the new problem is the result of them fixing the initial issue, which they still have the nerve to charge me to fix. Read the full story below:I first noticed an issue with my car 2 months ago when my engine started overheating on the freeway. As a result I towed my car to McKenna BMW in Norwalk, CA where I paid close to $800 to repair a faulty water pump. Close to two weeks later I found another issue. This time the problem was the headliner on the sunroof. I brought my car to BMW of Ontario where a full inspection was done. The diagnosis: replace the headliner and repair leaks in valve cover gasket and oil filter housing. Total cost estimate for repairs: $5,700. After making a fuss, they agreed to a 25% discount and since I had guests coming in from out of country, I okayed the repairs. After that I started checking reviews online. I noticed that quite a few people had complaints about headliner malfunction. One was at 14,000 miles. Had I been using my sunroof, I would have probably discovered this problem sooner and would have been a part of warranty. I do think it is a faulty part and manufacturing defect. After I picked up my car, I got on the freeway and heard noise from the roof again. Stopped by home real quick to pick something up. As soon as I turned off the engine, there was a big squeaking noise coming from the engine. Took the car back and had a test drive with the service manager on duty, and he concurred with the two noise issues and promised to fix them. A week later the service advisor contacted me saying the noise from the roof was fixed. However the squeaking noise was a result of repairing the gaskets. Explanation was that when there was a leak in gasket, the air had an escape route. After replacing the gaskets, the air had nowhere to escape, thus making the noise. To eliminate the noise I would have to pay to replace the valve cover. Beware: If you are buying a brand new BMW, there would be a squeaky noise from the engine because the gaskets would be new and the air would have nowhere to escape (lol). I contacted BMW corporate to explain my situation and to be refunded for my repairs, waste of time and inconvenience. They dismissed my claim and said there was nothing they could do since I no longer had warranty. I definitely feel profiled as a woman, and I feel like the BMW dealership preyed on my lack of mechanical knowledge to squeeze me for every cent. This was a truly exhausting and upsetting customer service experience. I expect much more from a luxury car company.

On Friday, July 12, 2013, the Eastern Shore of Maryland had torrential rain storms throughout the area. In Salisbury, Maryland, the City public works closed off streets promptly if they became flooded. On this date I drove my 2012 BMW 328I to the post office, and then to the bank to make some deposits. I traveled only over main thoroughfares that were being utilized by normal traffic. These streets were wet and had puddles of water encroaching on the streets as one would expect during torrential rain storms. While going from the post office to the bank the vehicle started missing, and an error message appeared which stated, Engine Malfunction Drive Moderately. All though the vehicle was running rough, I made my deposits and returned home and parked the car in our garage; believing that maybe the electronics got wet and they only needed to be dried out. The next Monday I started the car and it seemed to run better but the engine light and error message still were on. I then called the dealership in Annapolis, Maryland where I had purchased the vehicle approximately one (1) year ago and talked to a service representative about the problem. This service representative told me to bring the vehicle to Annapolis, which is about 90 miles from Salisbury. As there seemed to be a major problem with the engine I felt that they should pick up the vehicle as it was still under warranty with less than 10,000 miles usage. Finally, the Service Rep. told me to call BMW Road Service and have them trailer the car to Annapolis. The next Tuesday, a Service Technician from BMW Annapolis called me at about 9:00 AM and told me that there was water in the Air Filter and suggested that the filter and oil should be changed. I told him to go ahead as it was covered under warranty. He then stated that it was not covered under warranty and I inquired why as it was still in the warranty period since it had been driven less than 10,000 miles. After much discussion, I told him to go ahead and change these items, but I wanted a call from a management employee as I strongly felt it was a warranty problem. I also asked this technician how high the water would have to be to cause the problem he noted with the engine, and he stated, Up to the windows. Since he had the vehicle, I asked him if he saw any indication of a water line on the car, or even that the water had reached the floor boards. He responded in the negative, but stated that he was following his supervisor’s instructions. On the following Wednesday, the same Service Representative (with no call from the Supervisor), called and stated they changed the oil and air filter, but the engine light and the error message were still displayed. More investigation by the Service Representative showed that a rod had been bent and that it now needed a new $21,000.00 engine and by the way, it’s not covered under warranty. I was totally flabbergasted, as I could not believe that I driving a BMW during a rain storm would cause this kind of damage, and, that then it would not be covered under warranty. Please keep in mind I have been driving for over forty years with significant experience in similar rain storms, the BMW has less than 10,000 miles on it (has not even reached its first service period), and that BMW would even question whether or not the car had been in a flood when they had the vehicle there and there was absolutely no visual signs of flood damage.I again stated I wanted to talk to a manager regarding this problem and stated my complete disillusionment with BMW Annapolis on how they were handling this matter. This has been my third BMW over nearly 20 years (previous had 5 series BMWs), and I felt that as a luxury car organization they would stand behind there warranties and not treat their loyal customers in this manner. Finally, on this last Friday July 19, 2013, I got a call from the same Service Technician at 5:00 PM in the evening reiterating that he talked with his Supervisor, and that the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of $21,000 and that it would not be under warranty. I inquired why the Supervisor had not called me for over two (2) days when I specifically had requested this. Furthermore, I had been without a vehicle for well over a week, I am being told I need to spend $21,000 on a basically brand new BMW, and I don’t even get the courtesy of a phone call from a BMW Annapolis Service Supervisor. At 5:30 PM that evening I received an email (copy attached) from the Service Supervisor stating basically the same thing the Service Technician had said previously. I responded to the Supervisors email, and now I am writing you in a attempt to resolve this before it completely gets out of control. I have filed a claim with my insurance company, but feel strongly that this is a warranty issue, not an insurance problem. Even if it is covered, I will have to pay a deductable and the re-sale value of the car will be greatly reduced as it will be tagged as Flood Damage. Even though there is absolutely no evidence of the vehicle being in a flood, or for that matter in very deep water. As stated before, I have been a loyal BMW owner, driving in similar conditions as I experienced in this case, and have never been as disappointed as I am now with your company. I have many friends and associates that have BMWs and I have to say they are as flabbergasted as I am regarding this matter. I DO NOT think that this is the reputation that BMW would like to have in the public’s perception.

2006 BMW 5501 - I purchased my car new from Santa Barbara, CA dealer in December 2006. I paid over $60,000. By the end of 2010, I noticed the paint on hood was fading and a white cloud began to appear. I took it to the dealer, who did not have any suggestions and thought it might be from car washes. But there was nothing they could do, it was not covered by the warranty. It got worse and spread to the roof of the car (but the sides and back look like brand new). I had another shop look at it. He said waxing would do me no good, that the car would have to be repainted and that the car was likely damaged when it was brought in on the boat. They probably repaired it and in doing so, had to repaint or touch up the paint, altering the original paint job and the clear coat finish. I have brought the paint condition to the dealer both in person and in writing, but I get the same answer - not warranted. In addition, the rubber around both my front and rear windshields has totally disintegrated. There is nothing left. I brought this to the attention of the dealer. I was told my car was out of warranty. Other BMW owners have told me they have experienced the same. This seems to be a common problem. You would think BMW could afford to use a higher quality rubber on their vehicles. I have had several issues with this car. A bad exhaust smoking problem, while my car was under warranty, which took months of complaint writing to the dealer as well as BMW North America to finally have them diagnose the problem and make the repair. I love driving the car and the BMW look, but I am so disappointed with the quality and the service of BMW. For the amount of money they charge and the advertisements regarding ultimate driving machine, you would think they would do better in the customer relationship department and stand behind their product.

Since I bought my new 2007 BMW 530I in 2006, I have had a squeaky brake problem - a defect in the rotor. Up to this date, 2012, this problem has not been resolved. I have taken the vehicle into the dealerships repeatedly to fix this issue over the last 6 years, but it has never been fixed, and they never told me that the rotors needed to be replaced to fix the squeaking brakes until now, as my maintenance warranty is expiring soon. Out of all the years I took it in, they never told me this until now, and they appeared to be trying to get money out of me to pay out of pocket. Under the maintenance warranty, I need to drive the vehicle another 14,000 miles before they can replace the rotors for wear, but my warranty will end before I can drive that amount. Otherwise, I will have to pay out of pocket $900 per rotor to replace. I also contacted BMW customer service, and they told me they cannot do anything under the maintenance program and the warranty for the rotors expired already. I am very upset that BMW cannot resolve this squeaking brake issue. Im upset that the dealership never fixed this issue from the beginning, and BMWs poor customer service cannot help me. The squeaking has become unbearable wherever I go. Dont ever buy a BMW; overpriced and poor customer service.

I have 316I model 2010. Although PM services are being performed at BMW service center as per BMW manual, but while driving, Ive discovered that air condition is not working. Cairo BMW service center informed me that the coolant has to be replaced. Im wondering that an expensive car manufactured by reputable company, an important part gets faulty within 3 years after 42,000 km which is not happening in cheap cars. The problem is not only the cost of replacement but what hurts me is driving long way in sandy and hot weather with no AC and the cost of renting a car while my BMW is being fixed. This makes me hesitant to depend on my BMW car again, although it is not the case with BMW brand name. Please advise what to do. Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

I own a 2005 325CI with 51,000 miles and I have clear coat issues myself. Unfortunately, I bought the car used a few years ago. I figured I could get some assistance from the customer complaint center because the ** service manager at the local dealership basically told me ** you in a nice way. Both my conversations with management from the dealership and customer service center were futile, no assistance whatsoever. There is definitely a trend with these complaints even with cars that are garage kept. The materials that are being used here are definitely substandard. I have other cars that sit in the same driveway that are older than the BMW, and I use the same cleaning products on them that I use on the BMW and I have no issues at all. I am not asking for a freebie, but I think BMW should give some sort of assistance in these matters and take care of their customers whether they bought their cars new or used. The customer service reps and managers at the so-called Service Center are a bunch of arrogant ** that know nothing about taking care of the customer. If anyone has any info on who I can talk to other than the service center, dealership, or paint reps, please let me know. I am totally frustrated that no assistance was offered.

However since that date, we visited at least 4 times same branch for same problem (now the problem appear again). Because we usually have problem with message, right tire low air pressure. Due to this message on car screen, my wife could not use properties on screen and could not use back camera while parking, which could cause an accident while parking. We bought a new car and trust to BMW but since we bought the car, we continue to go to service and could not get the proper answer and service solution up to now either from BMW Turkey nor from BMW Germany. From now on, we decide that this is a manufacturing defect so we need your help and assistance to solve the problem. THE LAST ANSWER from BMW Germany without solution!

X28i X1 - Car with 75000 mile completely shut off in middle of traffic with catastrophic engine failure due to timing chain. We were lucky we were not killed. Cost us $8000 to replace engine (we still owe on the vehicle loan to begin with). Drove the car once and now it needs a new battery and alternator. Piece of crap and BMW should step up and reimburse us for this repair as they know this problem exists.

Purchased a 2006 750li with 36k miles. Had it 8 months so far, in what I thought was good condition only to find out that its riddled with problems and manufacturer defects. First, key fob went dead, required car to be towed to the dealer losing a week of use and $1500. Two months later, the water pump went out and was informed that the vacuum pump was leaking oil. The control arm bushings were bad and the power brake was leaking as well. $9500 later everything was supposed to be fixed, a week into the repair the restraint system developed a fault. Reading online, it seems not only that BMW is aware of the problem but recalled the power brake issue and the restraint system issue, however, when calling BMW of Dallas, I was informed they could not cover the repairs. When I mentioned previous repairs they said these are normal wear items. Since when do all the control arm bushings, vacuum pump and water pump go out at 40k miles. I paid a lot of money for this car and expect BMW to honor their vehicles problems instead of pointing fingers and trying to put blame elsewhere. I am being quoted $2200 for a new seat belt module bringing my grand total repair bill to over $15000.00 for a car thats worth $30k. I understand normal wear and maintenance but the repairs in question should not be considered wear and tear at this stage or mileage in the vehicles run.

Purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2011 750i on 2-14-2015 from Principal Auto Group in San Antonio Texas. This has been a terrible experience. The car had bent rims and would never ride smoothly... they wanted me to pay for a thrust balancing, then they would blame the tires but my independent tire shop confirmed the tires were okay. The first time I had a major problem the car was in the shop for 12 days because they do not have a enough bays. Lesson learned: If you buy a CPO car insist on a new battery... battery dies about a year after purchase $600.00!!! Purchased a two year extended maintenance warranty (battery not covered) BUT unknown to me it was backdated to when the previous maintenance contract expired in 2014. Lesson learned: Read the fine print because why would any educated intelligent adult assume a two year maintenance contract would start the day you purchase it and expire two years later? The salesperson stated that the original bumper to bumper 4yr/50,000 mile warranty was still in effect because it was a 2011 with 47778 miles but when I kept trying to get resolution on the vibration I was told the original warranty had aged out because the original sale date was actually at the end of 2010. They should hold representatives of the company responsible for their statements. As many on here have stated I would expect more from a Luxury car company.

BMW Financial is irresponsible and incompetent in managing consumer accounts. I had an account with BMW and made payments through Moneygram over a period of four months. Moneygram was not informed BMW was no longer using their services, even though each payment appeared to be received by BMW Financial. My car broke down. I took it to the dealer and it was repossessed for non payment, even though I had receipts indicating payments had been made. As a result, I was stranded in another state with a child. And they wouldnt accept the payments, even though cash was offered to immediately cover the payments they purportedly didnt receive. I will never buy another BMW or deal with their financial services, which appear to be managed by over zealous teens. They have no future other than pretending to have authority over people who drive cars they otherwise probably couldnt afford.

A 3 long 1/2 thick sheared and fell out on the driveway. The dealer (Jackie Cooper Imports, OKC) identified it as one of the bolts that bolts the transmission to the engine block. They could not say why it broke and BMW USA refused it as a warranty claim even though the driveline is covered by the CPO extended warranty. In the two years I have owned this car it has had the fuel pump go out, the fuse block melt, the water pump fail, and both catalytic converters fail. The dealer said call it was BMW USA, BMW USA would do nothing other than refer me to the dealer. This is a legitimate warranty claim and they are refusing to cover simply stating that is not covered by the warranty. No explanation, no body to talk to who can do anything about it. The warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. I love their cars, I hate their company. The dealer has been equally useful.

My girlfriend drove her BMW 328I up from Florida on Sept. 24th, and when she got it here, she noticed that the window was down and would not roll up (motor broken). It was late at night, so we didnt want to leave the car out on the street with a window down in NYC. We called BMW Roadside Assistance and they had a tow truck company come pick up the car. Since it was late, they said they would take the car to their lot and then drop it off at BMW Dealership the following morning. The next morning, the tow company called us and said they dropped it off and it would be ready in a couple of days. We then called the BMW dealership when we thought the car would be ready, and they informed us that they never received the car nor had any information on the car. It turned out that the tow company wrecked the car, and they were trying to cover it up and fix the car themselves. They basically took the car to a chop shop in the Bronx and it looked like they were trying to replace parts of the car with aftermarket parts that were not BMWs. We went to the Bronx with the cops and had another tow truck come out and move the car to the BMW dealership. It has now been exactly 1 month and BMW has not even started working on the car yet. We filed claims with BMW Roadside Assistance and BMW Customer Service, and they never get back to us when we call to try and figure out what is going on. I have been getting the runaround from everyone I speak with and when I ask to speak to a supervisor, they say they have no other contacts they can give. The BMW dealership has tried to contact Roadside Assistance, and they are not even able to get a hold of them. Now the dealership wants to charge $85 a day for storage of the car. Meanwhile, weve been without a car this whole time and there is no end in sight on when the car will be fixed. At this point, Im not really sure what to do, or what legal action we should take. Any help you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a BRAND new BMW 530 XDrive last May 2019. This June 2019 I got a flat tire. I called roadside assistance for the first time and arranged a pick up. It took over 3 hours (FIRST sign they dont care) but they finally got a tow truck to me. The Companys name was T & T towing based in Waldorf. The dealership they were supposed to take my car to was less than 30 minutes up the road. SO after an hour has passed and no update. I called T&T towing to see the status of my vehicle. I was then informed NOBODY WANTS YOUR CAR, WE WILL DROP IT OFF WHEN WE DROP IT OFF. I look on my BMW app and see my car is heading to Waldorf and not BMW of Silver Spring as requested. I contact BMW RSA to let them know how I am being spoken to and that I would like my vehicle returned. I went to Google and wrote a review about the towing company.10 minutes later BMW RSA calls me back and say that T & T towing is refusing to return my vehicle because of my review. (Second sign they dont care) why would you call me. I don’t know them. YOU (BMW) chose them to tow my car. So if you are saying they won’t return it then my car is stolen at this point. Another Hour goes by no car. I now get the police involved and T & T towing decides to bring back my car. It is now 12am the next day.I called BMW to schedule a pickup for the next morning for 7:30-8am so they can get it because I go to work. I called the next morning at 8 only to be informed NO Tow truck was scheduled (Third sign they dont care). I call them and rearrange and afternoon pickup after 5. I get car tow by Past and Present Towing and Recovery. I go pick up my car and I now have a BIG gash missing from my bumper. I call and file a claim on June 5th 2019.First BMW denied my claim saying there is no record they towed my vehicle a second time. Then after I got RSA to send report because it seems customer service and RSA are on different networks and it shows they towed it twice. I am on month 3 and they STILL havent made a decision on my vehicle. I am going to sell this car and get an Audi or Mercedes. No reason to spend this much and they treat you like this.

My name is Nina ** and Im based out of Mumbai, India. After seeing the many advertisements on the television, I bought the very expensive BMW 7 series which cost me about 1 cr rupees. I bought the car in Nov 2009 and I have used it very carefully and sparingly without giving it to a single driver. The car has run only 18000 kms so far and has been regularly serviced by the authorized service centers of BMW on time as prescribed by the BMW company. Last month in July I drove my car from Mumbai to Pune and it was a rainy day. I parked my car and went to stay in a hotel overnight with all doors and windows completely shut. When I came to the car the next day, I found that my car was completely flooded with about 40-50 liters of water only on the left hand side of only the back side.We used 1 liter Bisleri bottles to remove and we removed water for about 2 hours manually from my 7 series BMW. When the water was completely removed, we started to drive back from Pune to Mumbai. Only drive back I noticed that the car was filling up again as fast as about 10 liters in 30 minutes so we stopped the car every 30 minutes to empty the car of the water. We were very worried for our life while this was happening as we were worried that the water in the car will interfere with the electricals of the car and the car could catch fire. However, when we returned, we sent the car to the authorized BMW service center - Navnit Motors. They told us that the water had filled up inside the car because apparently the car has some vent which sends the rain water out of the car. However this vent got choked so instead of the rain water going out of the car, it started coming inside the car. Now I dont understand this - as this is the basics of any car. I have never heard of something like going happening in even small segment cars like Tata Nano, Fiat Taxis, Hyundai i10, etc, Maruti 800, etc. I cant understand how a luxury car like BMW 7 series can get something so basic wrong wherein a car which is regularly serviced by the BMW authorized service centers can flood up during monsoon from inside and make its passengers do work like removing water from the car and throw it out of the window. Its supposed to be a luxury car which is supposed to give immense joy and that is why they are charging a hefty price for it. But what I have experienced is barely joy. Sir, I need your help in getting justice as BMW thinks that it is my fault that this has happened to me and they have raised a service repair bill of 38000 for this and along with it they have raised a bill for million other things which were not wrong in the car and they are saying that I need to pay them 150,000 rupees for random other jobs which are as crazy as this. Sir, how do you recommend that I get justice? I feel cheated by BMW as I feel that Ive been sold a faulty car and they are not responding to my email.

Driving along and all of the sudden a fan came on with a loud blowing sound. I parked my car and planned to take it to the shop the next day. I checked the coolant, it was a little low so I added. The next while on the way to the shop, still loud blowing, the engine overheat warning came on. I pulled over and towed to the shop. As soon as they hear the fan come on, they said immediately, the water pump failed - We get about 4 or 5 a week on this car. As a result, I have to replace a water pump, and cracked radiator, $2,000. I check the internet and found many, many of the same complaints. I read that there was a recall for the X5s with the V8 engine. I imagine the design is the same and therefore the recall should include the V6 engine as well.

My speedometer in my brand new car is off by 10% and when I brought it in to BMW Spokane for correction, was told BMW has a disclaimer for accuracy of their speedometers. WTF? Having several other electronic issues like the radio randomly shutting itself off, seat cooler and armrest heaters turning themselves on and the XM radio rerunning the program from about 5 minutes back if for some reason, I briefly lose connection like driving through downtown or something. My Toyota gave none of these problems, nor does my sons Subaru. Also they dont provide a courtesy vehicle in Spokane citing the global supply chain. I could go on about the service dept in Spokane which has been another BMW disappointment. Glad Toyota isnt impacted in that way. To all that might take an interest in this; this is my first time posting on any consumer complaint forum. So hopefully people dont make the mistake of purchasing a 2009-2014 BMW with an N63 engine and affects five different vehicle classes. These cars are lemons with a long history of mechanical problems, and a class action lawsuit filed in 2015 for excessive oil consumption, drained batteries, and other problems affected by the oil cooled parts inside the car. Visit: ** to see full notice of the court documents, and full story. The final date for filing any paperwork to claim your vehicle under the class action was October 10th 2018. Too bad BMW has failed to properly notify owners about this, and still continue to sell these cars without advising anyone about the litigation behind them.In August 2016 I purchased a used 2012 BMW 750LI M Sport with 38,482 miles. The car was sold to me by a private dealership in Los Angeles, and was a one owner lease return that originated from BMW of Santa Monica, CA. The car had a clear title, and free of defects, and I paid 42K out the door price with tax & extended warranty to protect me through 100K miles for any possible mechanical issues that could arise with the car. Since that time Ive had nothing but problems since I bought it that started with minor things like ignition coils, spark plugs, and check engine lights. Excessive oil consumption was noticed immediately the first year I owned it, and constantly had to top off the oil. Ive meticulously maintained the car since Ive had it and always taken to a certified BMW mechanic. The BMW service centers I dont trust as far as I can throw them, and use a preferred & HONEST BMW mechanic. In July 2018 I took my car into the shop to diagnose several issues going on with the car which now has 92K miles. I wanted to have my mechanic check everything including doing a brake fluid flush, and oil change prior to making another drive into Southern California from Nevada where I currently live. After inspection my mechanic mentioned that the motor was falling apart; The car had leaking turbo hoses, upper oil pan gasket leak, bad steering pump, excessive oil consumption problems, and the engine valve stem seals were shot and explained why smoke would come out of the tailpipe during cold starting, and lastly an electric short underneath the drivers seat that scorched the material underneath and could have caught fire at some point had it continued. In all I was facing $15,000 dollars to complete all repairs. We contacted my extended warranty company who handled the situation great. Due to the extent of the engine problems they sent out an adjuster to verify everything and audited my service records to ensure the car had been properly maintained, and also had video scope photos taken inside the engine of oil cooled timing chain to verify there was no engine deposits or oil gunk build up. It was clean as a whistle, and they indicated since the repairs exceeded the value of new engine they authorized a complete engine replacement in addition to fixing the electrical problems with my seat. The engine was ordered through a BMW dealership in Las Vegas NV in August, and now here we are in November 2018 and still no sign of the engine or status on when we can expect to receive it. Since July Ive had a loaner, and paid out of pocket for extensive rental fees, paying for an auto loan on a car that I cant even drive with still $24K left on it, and have had to register the vehicle as non-operable with the state DMV.After repeated attempts to get a status on the engine by myself personally and my mechanic to get a status on the replacement engine; we still have no information, and appears to be no end in sight. The only reasoning behind the delay of the engine is that they cant find anyone to make a drive camshaft on this motor. The third party company that used to make this part went out of business and they have no alternative currently. Sounded like complete B.S. to me, and I called them on it stating that it sounded like an excuse. At this point Im extremely pissed off, and decided to email BMW Group Germany to ask them if they really cared about their customers. I found the CEO & other executive level members of BMW email addresses including their press secretary. I emailed them and demanded a response to this nonsense with the engine replacement.A couple days later I received a voicemail from a Craig ** @ BMW North America customer care stating that he was calling because I was interested in a RE-PURCHASE of the vehicle. I had missed the call because I was on a business trip. I had no clue what a re-purchase entailed or what the qualifications were, but it was something that THEY suggested. I called back the very next morning which was on a Friday, and he didnt answer so left a message to call me back as soon as possible to discuss what hed mentioned on my voicemail. He waited three days to call me back and returned my call on October 10th 2018. We discussed the re-purchase over the phone which entailed buy back 100% of the vehicle financing, maintenance, and oil used for the car that I had to top off constantly. I loved that option and expressed my interest to get me out of this situation. He said that unfortunately the deadline had passed to have my paperwork submitted under the class action settlement... I said What settlement? I had no clue what he meant. He then said yeah youre calling about the class action lawsuit right? I told him that nobody had ever notified me at any point by mail, phone, or email about a class action lawsuit. Confused he said that well the deadline is October 10th is the deadline to have your request submitted for compensation under the class action. I told Craig that You know today is October 10th right?; He confirmed this and said that there was nothing he could do to consider me for the class action since it was past the deadline as of that day, and apologized for the inconvenience. So I contact BMW - Germany, they contact Craig ** @ BMW North America to ask me about a re-purchase, and then only to tell me that Im past the deadline and theres nothing he could do. WTF? How does this make any sense? Why am I now just finding out about this class action lawsuit?? I became more irate and phoned the BMW dealership that we ordered my new engine from, and demanded to talk to a service manager or parts department manager. I told them on the phone that during this whole time my car has been in the shop, and wed been asking for a status on the engine, or alternatives to put me into another car. I asked them directly if they knew about this class action lawsuit pertaining to my engine? When I cornered them they paused on the phone & said... Yes we knew about it. I said then, Why did you not say anything about it this whole time?? Why was this kept a secret or not disclosed? The person at BMW stated that they were instructed by higher ups not to say anything about it to owners because it was in litigation, and the car owners would be notified at the appropriate time. They continued the same story about the drive camshaft holding up the production of these replacement motors, and that there was roughly 185 of these engines on back order in the entire country. WOW... talk about a cover up right? I hung up the phone on him, and proceeded to email BMW Group Germany again explaining what I just found out, and that dealerships are hiding this information from people to minimize their exposure & loss due to the class action. The very next day after I sent that 2nd email I got a call from Craig ** @ BMW North America again stating that theyd be willing to review my case again as a re-purchase option. I proceeded to email Craig my entire file from the shop that we gave my extended warranty company, and all associated service records. Craig said hed send it out to his field team to be reviewed and a determination would be emailed to me once they made their decision on the matter. After waiting a week I emailed Craig to get a status on the re-purchase decision. He contacted me saying that BMW North America had reviewed my case and have declined to approve my re-purchase request. He would not give any reason as to WHY they were rejecting it, and would not tell me who this field team was. He said he was not able to name the individuals or dealerships that make the decision for their Protection. Protection from what??They also noted on the rejection letter that their last record of service/maintenance records was in February of 2017 which was not true. I had my car serviced at my own BMW certified mechanic, and provided records for that work done, but BMW refused to acknowledge that in their letter to me. So now here are the facts.BMW continues to sell these vehicles and dealerships are intentionally not advising people that there is litigation behind them starting in 2015 when the class action was filed. BMW offered an N63 Customer Care Package at one point to put a band aid on the problem; not calling it a recall, but just making the cars last long enough to make it out of their factory warranties leaving them not liable past that point. BMW has not provided any information or status on when new engines that are paid for out of pocket or by warranty are due to be received. Stating a drive camshaft issue is preventing delivery of these engines with no end in sight. As a consumer I AM SCREWED. No car for almost 6 months, and no money to buy a new one or sell this one to get out of my current loan so I can buy something else. Without delivery of this motor my car is worthless, and no options. BMW Group Germany and BMW North America have zero control of this situation, and dealerships refusing to help take ownership of these problems. This is consumer fraud at its finest, and deliberate false statements, misinformation, are being fed to the public about these N63 motors. The 2009-2014 N63 motors are an aging group entering into high mileage and engines are crapping out with less than 100K miles on them. This is snake oil folks, and BMW knows it. The class action settlement proves the excessive oil consumption problems, and now these same engines are failing with the valve stem seals resulting in repair costs that exceed a new engine cost. They have not done their best to advise the public of this and Im sure theres hundreds of people that might be able to relate to my story. If you have purchased one of these vehicles recently from a dealer, or have extensive repairs resulting in the requirement of a new engine that BMW is not delivering on please email me immediately so we can talk. Right now I know three other people in the Las Vegas area that are affected by this. We need others in the country to step forward & share your story and put a stop to this. BMW & Car Dealerships have screwed the public long enough, and now they need to take ownership of a crappy mass produced product theyve put out into the market. Even if you buy an extended warranty youre still not safe; BMW does not have an answer for this, and if you need an engine replacement youll be waiting until next year. The biggest issue here is that BMW knows that their warranties are nowhere even close to sufficient with the well known documented issues behind these cars. They continue to sell these vehicles used and keep the information hidden from consumers. This is fraud! Look at the new class action filed this November 18. BMW has been defrauding its customers for years on these faulty motors, and continue to get rich. Someone needs to put a stop to this asap. The evidence is there, and plenty of public record & consumer complaints... how are these guys still in business?? If youve been taken advantage of please do the following: File a complaint with your State Attorney Generals office - Contact your local news media - Theres three of us here in Las Vegas affected by this and wed be happy to give a statement & tell our story. If we dont make enough noise this will never stop!

I love the performance and road handling of the BMW 328i. But I dont like that I dont have a spare tire. The repairs are pricey, but worth it. This car is also very fuel efficient.

I got a brand new 2022 X5 on Dec 22, 2021. After just 1000km drive, the engine light turned on and my car has been in dealership since 5 days ago. Such a frustrating experience with BMW. Perhaps other German competitors are more reliable. I wish I had not gotten a car from BMW.

I purchased a 2011 BMW 528I from Pattersons BMW in Wichita Falls, Texas in July 2011. The car almost stalls when you stop and try to start again. The car hesitates when going around a corner and almost stalls. I have almost been run into because the car cannot leave a stop light like normal cars and people are in a hurry behind you. The car has been into the dealership six times and even the factory representative tried to fix the problem. No success resulted from all these attempts to fix the problem and the BMW solution is this is a characteristic of this car and all BMWs 528I have this characteristic. The salesmans car I drove did not have this problem and I doubt if any other 5 series has this problem. This new feature on 2011 BMWs is like fly by wire, in that there is no linkage between the engine and the footfeed. The computer responds to all controls within the car and somehow I have the slowest response computer, since computers were invented. If a, F-16 had this response time, the pilot would be dead and if I continue to drive this vehicle, I may be dead also.

2007 BMW 550i transmission - People, if you having a rough shifting on your BMW, dont take it back to the dealer or no it is not your software. I ran into this problem with my BMW, I try everything, but checking the transmission fluids. AS you know BMW dont have dipstick and the computer is not going to tell you if you need to add the transmission fluid. The transmission have a shifting lever that go inside the transmission, over time it will go bad and that cause the transmission fluid to leak people dont realize that. So change the sleeve to keep it from leaking and add new fluid and you good to go and that how I fixed my transmission problem.
