Extremely pleased with my 2004 Hyundai XG350L. Years ago I would have never thought to buy a Hyundai of any type but was struck by what I saw in the XG350L. It gave me 11 years and 248,000 miles of enjoyment. Would buy another if I could afford it.

Over a month ago I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs and Hyundai National Consumer Affairs regarding my 2016 Elantra Value Edition. My car was manufactured at the Alabama plant and I have had problems with the car since I purchased it. The problems began with the dealer not prepping the car for delivery and also not documenting all my trips back to the service department beginning the day after I purchased. The manager of the dealership titled my car in the wrong state, refused to listen to me and then also refused to honor the dealers price guarantee and return policy. It took a year for the dealer to check the alignment and I still have a steering problem.Within 10 months and 7000 miles, my interior began falling apart. Panel covers detaching and rattles and squeaks. Exterior items also detaching. The hood misaligned/warped. I made 5 trips to the dealer in Florida to get 1 panel cover repaired, 2 visits they refused to document: 1 visit I had an appointment and the system was down, the other trip the adviser refused to document and made an appointment for the following week. The parts were ordered in Ohio and it was a struggled to have them installed. The screws/connectors that hold the wheel well liner, front bumper cover and the engine splash guard came loose and came off while I traveled from Florida to Ohio. The splash guard and wheel liner came down and dragged under the car. I got off the highway and pulled them back in place and secured them temporarily. The mechanic said I am lying and that I hit something. I did not, but most certainly dragged something from the road as I exited the highway.Hyundai sent their district rep to the dealer. He did an inspection, however did not look at the interior as he claimed all the detaching panels are to OEM specs. I have photos that show otherwise. He also claimed to have checked my wipers and that there was no clunk nor the blade hitting the frame. I have a video that shows it does. Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the fact that their cars manufactured in the USA require different replacement parts and the cars are different. They refuse to repair my car. They kept my car 5 days for paperwork leaving me stranded and unable to travel.

This is typical for dealerships but theyre not long for this country. I have a senior citizens vehicle in my shop with a faulty block that was faulty from the manufacturer. I attempted simply to very parts through Hyundai and they said, You have to prepay in order to get the parts and two days later they might have the parts in the dealership. The parts for example are pistons, which with the dealership are $90.00 each for a grand total of $400 and change after taxes and other frivolous charges. The exact sane parts coming from Thailand at another place is $90 out the door, including shipping AND you receive at your door the very next day. These people are greedy and worthless. Their products stink! Their service sinks! Their greed is obvious! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

I have dealt with corporate for over a year to try and get the power of attorney to do a state to state transfer and they lied each time by saying that someone else mailed it to me to shoo me off the phone and caused me to have to get a ticket from the police due to their negligence and disorganization. I was unable to ever get a power of attorney until I called corporate several times and explained that this was a breach of contract by not sending me the necessary documents. I will never again lease from this company and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Hyundai in Newman, Ga was the worst experience ever buying a car. I was paying cash. Of course they talked me into the tech pkg and took me $2500 over budget. I was told to just finance that amount. Ok, fine, I said because I knew it would be paid off before the first payment was due. Well they didn’t like that and came back and said they couldn’t finance anything under $5000. Ok, still going to have it paid off quickly. Then they came back and said they wouldn’t finance anything under $7500. I had only taken one check with me. It’s a 4 hour drive. I told the guy that and he said to go get another check. I was walking away when my husband decided he was sick of this to find a bank up there and do it. After all this, it turns out the car I ended up with did NOT even have the tech pkg.I have never been so disgusted with a dealership ever! I will NEVER purchase another Hyundai again. Just not worth it. I hate having to see my car. They ruined what should have been an easy sale. By the way, the car was paid off within a month and they made a grand total $41. in finance charges. Stay away from Southtowne Hyundai!

I bought the car in November of 2010, and its been a bad experience since having thought of buying the new car from Hyundai. My car has been taken four times for A/C problems to Hyundai, but still the same problem persists. Secondly, the car is has started to get rusty within nine months time, and there was no one from Hyundai to talk to with authority.

Even after repeated complaints didnt get any assistance to my car Whole night... and the dealers were so rude and blunt to ask for any help...In spite of repeated calls there were no help to me. At last they wash away their hands after giving me one number... which nobody picked up. As a result there were no help from Hyundai and I had to struggle with the local dealers for help...

I purchased a brand new 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The transmission blown at 43000 miles and they had no idea why. Now at 71, 000 the engine had blown and again they have no idea why. I am so dissatisfied. The kbb value of this car is horrible. They have fixed the transmission under warranty and will be fixing the engine, however who is to say that it wont happen again especially since they have no idea why the both blew in the first place. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS company.

Two weeks ago we were driving and all of a sudden the engine shut off, no warning lights were on at all at the time this happened. We had Hyundai Roadside assistance tow the vehicle, (waited 2 hours for them) to the closest Hyundai dealer. The next day the dealer called and said the engine was shot, and they had to take it apart to send pictures to the corporate office. 5 days later they called and said Hyundai denied the warranty for Lack of Maintenance. The car only as 46,000 miles, and we have had oil changes. The dealer said they found sludge in the engine. Hyundai never asked for any receipts for oil changes, and just denied the claim. I then called the 800 customer service number, to be told that there was nothing they could do, all complaints were handled through the Better Business Bureau. I asked to speak with whomever denied the claim and they refused. So now I have a complaint into the BBB, but Hyundai has not responded. I dont understand how they advertise the best warranty and then deny all claims. I have researched the internet and found many people has had the same thing happen to them. How is this legal? Our vehicle is leased, so they know we have to fix it before the end of the lease. This seems like a scam, since we have to fix it. We also found at least 5 other Hyundai owners who reported the exact same symptoms as ours on the same make, all of which were denied by Hyundai. I will never buy another Hyundai, they are criminals running a huge scam. Dont believe the salesman when they tell you they have the best warranty. They dont honor it. Dealer told me there is nothing they can do to help. They said that they have seen sludge in the engine in other Hyundais and ours was not that out of the ordinary. However they claim their hands are tied, and all warranty decisions are made by corporate.

Have a 2013 Azera - there are multiple Azeras up the east coast with engine problems. They all got their long block replaced except mine. Got the short block because they were all out in the US. After dealer having the car over 40 days it is shaking at a stop (almost stalling), scared to drive my kids in the car. Dealer says nothing wrong with it now. Time to get window markers and put a lemon on it so everyone knows Hyundai wont do anything except free oil changes...how terrible!

Their cars will leave you on the side of the road one day with no help. If they promise something get it in writing. If they recall something it will go to banks mailbox not yours so you have to check recalls yourself. They tell you when you buy a vehicle they if they need to fix it they will give you a loaner vehicle when its broke down. No loaner is given with extended warranty. They find a way to avoid it. They say they reimburse you for rental vehicles. They dont even have a department that reimburses you. Get everything in writing. I can tell you right now every 5k miles alignment was off. My shocks struts only lasted 20k. Replaced 3 times now. Tires wearing wrong since owned. The vehicle dealer alignment doesnt fix it unless you get alignment every 2 oil changes. Air intake funnel before the filter isnt really attached. Just sits there in front of snorkel transmission.Shifts rough when its cold. Their tint they offer always bubbles. The air conditioning smells like mildew shortly after you drive off the lot and every 5k miles after they fix it. Not sure how they fix it but comes right back. The gas mileage they state only lasts 10k miles. After that its about 5 to 10 less even with recommended tire inflation. The paint is horrible. Chips and flakes at 30k. Wiper blades need replacing. Right when you buy the vehicle motors are noisy of the lot and only get worse. The hybrid battery needs replacing at 60k and depending on how often you drive it voids your warranty and if you dont keep more than 30 miles of gas in your car at all times it voids warranty. The first day I drove off the lot my back passenger door lock started buzzing really loud every time I went from park to drive or lock the doors and they had to order the part. Took 2 weeks to get it fixed from day I took it in. Inside cabin is super noisy of outside traffic noise and tires when getting up to freeway speeds. I should have took a test drive on freeway because that would have been a deal breaker. Thats about it. Cant wait to get out of this vehicle. 5 recalls in the first year feel like this car is always at the dealership service department.

I recently purchased a 2017 Genesis G80, made by Hyundai. They promise the sun, moon and stars on their customer service. They sell you on the concierge service, where they pick your car up and basically take care of everything. This is a totally lie and the service people have no clue on this service. I have issues with the way the hood is aligned and they had no clue about it, but when you Google the internet, its a common problem. Once Hyundai dealer was unsure if they had concierge service or not and put me through to voicemail. I wouldnt recommend Genesis to anyone... just completely horrible customer service!! I would NEVER, NEVER EVER buy another Hyundai or Genesis. Pay the extra money and buy an Acura or Lexus!

Hyundai claims to have Americas best warranty but if you read the fine print youll find out otherwise. Three of the five cars Ive owned as an adult have been Hyundai cars. I liked the warranty and the service, however I have never once with all the servicing Ive had on my cars had their warranty cover anything. Recently I had a transmission problem on my car and I found out that not only am I not covered for 100,000 miles or 10 years as they like to advertise, Im not even covered for 60,000 or 5 years. My car has about 56,000 miles on it and they are not covering anything at this point.Hyundai loves to advertise their amazing 100,000 or 10 year power train warranty, but that only applies to the original owner. The second someone else owns the car it drops down to almost half the mileage (60,000) or 5 years, whichever comes first. It wouldnt be as infuriating if they had not been so vocal about their warranty the whole time. They told me over and over again about the coverage and how great the warranty is. The second youre outside the life of the warranty though things will start falling apart. Its happened with every Hyundai Ive owned. This is the last Hyundai I will ever own.

DO NOT LEASE FROM HYUNDAI. They have the worst customer service skills. 9+ weeks waiting for a response to get my registration renewal. It’s out since March and is nearly 1st June still nothing from them. Every day for a solid 5 weeks I called. I spoke to so many employees and managers every day. They told me a different lie every time, stay away from these guys. After reading reviews it seems they are known for stuff like this. Also I called the dealer in Norwood MA and they too did not respond to any of my calls. Finally today I received my registration and decal thanks to my insurance company. They requested a duplicate. If anyone else is having the same problem call your insurance company for help. I cannot wait until my lease is up so I never gotta deal with these guys again.

A lot of people are talking about the big lie Hyundai used to increase sales. I dont know if it came from Korea or the greedy US division came up with it, but I am very disappointed. Like some others, Im not as upset about the mileage as I am about feeling screwed. I work hard for my money and do a lot of research before I purchase a new vehicle. I owned a 2003 Sonata that made me feel they made a quality product. The 2011 Elantra was priced at $18,400 on their website, along with the $1,000 customer loyalty discount. It would be the perfect car for my 16-year-old daughter. When I got to the dealer, theyre in such demand (because of the mileage lie) I had to wait until June when the 2012s came out. Then they tacked on a $1,995 market parity adjustment and customer loyalty discount doesnt apply to the Elantra. So I paid $21,500. I feel like a sap. Every day when I go out to the driveway, I am reminded of how your company took advantage of me. When I took it in for the mileage check for the fuel debit card, I talked to the salesman about turning it in for another car. The dealer (Jenkins of Leesburg, Florida) has a Volkswagen lot next door. My daughter and I agreed to trade it in until we were told it was only worth $12,000. Wow, do I feel screwed? Will I ever buy another Hyundai? What do you think?

We purchased a new Hyundai in December of 2013 from Hall Hyundai of Elizabe
We purchased a new Hyundai in December of 2013 from Hall Hyundai of Elizabeth City. We had oil changes done in excess of requirements and used the best oil always. As time went along we noticed our car kept getting louder and louder as we drove. I took it to Hall Hyundai of Elizabeth City to have it looked at. The service dept. girl (Aamanda **) had me come out and look at something dealing with the tires. She showed me that the tires were wearing out in a choppy manner on the inside of the rear tires and that was what was making the loud sound as we drove; and that we simply needed to get a complete realignment and new tires. But then, thankfully, she showed me that the front tires were doing the same thing. The reason I say thankfully is that as soon as she showed me that, I immediately knew that this was not an issue that I should have to care for. It was a defect in the Hyundai Elantra suspension design and that they were trying to pass the blame and cost and problem ownership on to the consumer, and absolving themselves of any responsibility of causation through their own product design. After we went back inside the service dept., she tried to blame it on that I might not have had the tires rotated up to requirements. But she wasnt thinking properly again. These tires only rotate front to back and back to front, not side to side; therefore negating the thought of non-rotation problem causation. For it was happening in the front and back tires, which it would still have happened even if we rotated the tires everyday. Then, I said to her that this was a deeper problem and that tires were junk and that it wasnt the need for me to have a realignment. After that she went in the back and I never saw her again. So I left my name and number (of which she already had) with an elderly lady at the back service stand and asked her to have Aamanda call me when she figures out whatever she is figuring out, and she never called me. Subsequently, when I got home, I researched on the internet this issue and I found very many reports of the same problem dating back many years. Some of them mentioned in their report that they did have their proofs of tire rotations as needed and that Hyundai still blamed it on the car owner. My question, if it was an issue of the car owner not doing things properly as Hyundai dealers and Hyundai itself contends, how is it possible that it is exactly the same issue happening to thousands of Hyundai owners over a span of years? Simply put; its NOT anything that the consumer is doing wrong, and IT IS an issue that HYUNDAI has ownership of (it IS an issue concerning a defect in the suspension of the automobile ~ FACTLY), and they need to be made and forced to rectify the problem with all owners that are dealing and have dealt with the issue.

I want to share my bad experience with Freehold Hyundai. I wanted to buy a Sonata. When I contacted them, their salesman Frank quoted a figure which was as per our budget, so we decided to visit them. Antony was the salesman who attended us. I must say he was a good salesman. But when it came to quoting the final figures, he again and again went to his manager Pete **. The figures which they quoted were much higher than what they had initially quoted and we were surprised to hear them. I dont know why they called us to waste our time when we had clearly told them our budget in the beginning. Finally, Pete ** called me inside his cabin (Antony asked my wife to stay out). Pete was such a rude sales manager. I really pity people who hired him. He cracked some jokes, which were personal, and I didnt like them at all. I dont know how he could speak in such a manner to his customers. Very rude, ill-mannered and a guy with attitude problem. He doesnt deserve to be a manager at all. His customer handling is so poor that I dont know how he is running this dealership. In my life, I have never met such an ill-mannered sales manager! There was another salesman in Petes cabin, who was laughing on all this. I felt so insulted. These people are so unprofessional. Pete didnt even offer me a seat to sit. He was sitting in front of me as if he was my boss. I think a roadside vendor has better sales/customer handling skills than Pete. When I showed my displeasure on all this, Pete tried to make the deal. How could he even think I will ever do business with him or recommend his dealership to anyone? This guy is so insensitive about his customers. I am giving this rating for poor customer handling, wrong price commitments and for the insult I faced there.

My experience with Hyundai is the worst experience with a car company I’ve ever had and I’ve been leasing different cars for 25 years. I drove my 2021 Kona (top of the line) for 3032 miles before the entire transmission failed. I guess any car company can have a lemon in the batch so the fact that this car sucked isn’t what’s horrible about this story. It’s how Hyundai & Hyundai finance is treating me during the process of trying to return the car and get compensation back that’s hideous. They threatened my credit for a car I hadn’t had in months and made me continue to pay for it for months. They made me collect & turn in all the paperwork needed to get my case settled myself instead of helping and accessing their own records (copy of lease, payment records, etc.). Their entire computer/ website interface for customers fails every month and you have to call to get your profile erased so you can build another one… Only it remembers the email you used so every month you have to come up with a new email & hope this month their system for payment & account details doesn’t fail. They are offering me almost NOTHING back ($2300) even though I paid 1500 down & payments from September 2020-March 2021 at $367/month. They don’t even understand their own processes and told me that a significant amount of the money I am owed back for the car needed to be applied for at the dealership due to “separate contracts for alarm system, clear shield, & other aspects of the car’s system... But the dealership says that’s completely wrong. Oh ya, and every 30 days the paperwork I turned in expires & takes hours of effort on my part to resubmit. Do yourself a favor and RUN from Hyundai!

I purchased my first Hyundai two years ago! After hearing nothing but glowing reviews about the company and the cars dependability. Sadly I cant say I have seen any of that! After 12+ trips to your dealerships for service issues this purchase has left me with nothing but regret. I have taken my vehicle to two separate dealerships in Nashville in hopes of receiving better service. I have time and time again been left disappointed. The car dies while driving down the road and all anyone can tell me is that it must be bad gas or Im letting it get too low before refilling. They have even given me lesson on how to pump gas which is an insult to my intelligence. My touch screen dash went out only to get replaced with a dash that was even more broken than the one I drove in with. I was left to drive around with a none functioning dashboard till yet another could be ordered. Recently after taking it to an outside mechanic even more issues were brought to my attention that in all the times your dealers have had the car were never even mentioned to me! The recall work on my rear brakes (which I was never even informed had been recalled!) wasnt holding up my rear brakes were still malfunctioning and causing wear to my front brakes. In addition to the fact that my cars rotational tires were on backwards! It saddens me to think a company so well noted for its customer service in the twelve times it had my car never took the time to even look at my car long enough to notice such simple things as tires and brakes! This level of neglect has made me feel unsafe to drive a car from a company who can take my safety and the safety of others on the road so carelessly for granted. I initially purchased the car for 16,995 before taxes and now less than two years later they are telling me the value of my car is a mere 8,995. Seeing as how no one has stepped up and taken accountability for these issues it seems my only choice is to go online and post reviews. I just dont understand how this level of service has become acceptable? What happened to your morals and value?

I slid off the road and called roadside assistance. I had been pulled out about a month ago, also. This time they said they would not pay for being pulled out. We have had a severe winter and have had a lot of ice and snow. On the Hyundai advertising it says, 5 years unlimited roadside assistance, with 24/7, 365 day service. The roadside assistance representative said they recently changed their rules. (Almost a year after I purchased my 2013 Sonata) I talked to representative **. She never told me what rule they changed. I told her they couldnt change the rules retroactively. She said they could and did so. She referred me to the towing service subcontractors. (Cross Country Motor Club) The motor club informed me that the car had to be less than 10 feet from the road, to be pulled back onto the road. I asked him who made that new rule and they could not tell me that. I told them that if a car slid into the ditch, it would be 10 feet from the highway 90% of the time, and that would make roadside assistance unusable 90% of the time. I threatened to go public to the internet and also press a possible lawsuit. My car is well within the 10-foot rule. They still refused. I’m handicapped and a senior citizen. The roadside assistance was a major reason why I purchased the car. Now, Hyundai is going back on their word. I started to call my dealer and before I could talk to him, a towing company called and said they would be at my place within 2 hours. I called the towing company and asked if Hyundai was paying for it and they said yes. Hyundai previously said they would call to get me help, but I would be charged $170.00. I dont think that any customer should put up with a company that treats its customer in the above manner.

Worst vehicle ever!!! The engine seized at 90,000 miles without warning. Now at 92,000 miles the steering column is shot. My mechanic found that the steering coupling among other components were basically shredded. He replaced the column and brought it to Hyundai of Metairie to have the electronic steering reprogrammed. The Hyundai service dept. will not do it. They want to replace the column again. They say the car isnt drivable. It was driven to them.

The Hyundai Entourage minivan has been a good, reliable vehicle. We have had only a couple of very minor repairs done to it in the 10 years that we have owned it. The Entourage has a very good amount of power. It is never sluggish off the starting line. It is also an attractive looking vehicle. The thing that I liked most about this van over the other we considered purchasing is the price. It was the most affordable of all that we considered purchasing. My least favorite feature on this van is the radio. Sometimes the volume control doesnt work. If I tap the dash, I can usually get it to adjust the volume. I am only sorry that Hyundai not longer makes the Entourage as I would definitely purchase another one.

In 2006, I bought a used 2004 Hyundai accent automatic from Thrifty Car rental. I had the car checked through by Hyundai and they confirmed it was in perfect shape. About 6 months ago, shifting became very hard and sometimes the transmission would refuse to shift gear even if I had shifted it with the clutch. Problems got worse. I took it to Hyundai for a diagnostic test and was told it needed a new transmission which would cost $3,000.00. As the car is so old, I opted for a used transmission and took it to a shop where my husband had his transmission replaced. By now, it is 3 transmissions later, 1 computer later and the car has been in the 2nd shop for 2 weeks with a highly recommended transmission expert and it is not working. I sent 2 emails to Hyundai last week and never received an answer. I called today, on 9/23/2011, and after some back and forth, I was told that there is no recall and that they could not help me with the car. In the meantime, I checked online and found a lot of people complaining about transmission issues with exactly that 2004 car. Pages and pages, so there obviously is an issue. My son, who is learning to be a car mechanic and therefore has access to information we normal people do not, also found information on major issues with that years transmission. Yet Hyundai insists, there is no campaign on it, so there is nothing wrong on their end. I have been driving Hyundai since 1996 and loved that car, that is why I bought another one in 2004 but that car is proving to be quite a problem. Hyundai is certainly shattering my opinion of them.

Hyundai was unable to assist me in a dispute with the car dealership. I was sold a leased car disguised in a balloon contract. The dealership also lied about the disposition fee, accepted to cut a check for it, then changed their mind. I have tried numerous times to get a hold of somebody from Hyundai and Hyundai Consumer Affairs, but they were powerless. They could not help me and they were unable to reach their own reselling dealership. Had a horrible experience so far and this will make me choose a different company for my next car(s). The car is decent, but the experience dealing with Hyundai is nothing but deplorable.

Didnt buy car from Towne Hyundai, so they and regional support dont want to cover replacement under Goodwill consideration because they didnt make any money off of me. Hyundai Equus says in writing theyll replace it free. Dealer says NO, theyre only authorized to pull it out and ship it somewhere for repair, could take 2 weeks, could take a month with no map, no radio, no electronics as its all tied together. Bought a loaded $35000 2010 Sonata in the spring of 2011. Loads of minor things wrong that were never resolved. In Jan 2013, timing belt blew through three sections of the engine. I had a rental for a month and got my car back with a new engine - an engine which they said had to come from Korea which is why the repairs took so long. An engine which the dealership refused to warranty. Forward to spring 2016, the 3 year old engine is now leaking - who knew that Hyundai engines have what the staff called a liquid seal which breaks down over time and cars dont last like they used to. A liquid seal? So every Hyundai owner can expect a $1000 repair around the three year mark to repair a leaking liquid seal. Now that does not sound quite right. We have calls and emails in to the elusive owner of the dealership. I had a Toyota for 16 years and it never gave me a stitch of trouble. Hyundai - never again. Ball joints are wearing, needs all new hoses and brakes all around. Might get rid of it.

I really loved driving my Hyundai Tiburon! Out of all of the cars on the lot, I liked it the best. I even recommend it to other people! It was a great car and made me like Hyundai as a car maker. I drove the car from Florida to Ohio and it ran beautifully the whole time! It was a small car and a standard transmission. It was great on gas and even though it was only a 4cyl. motor, it was very quick. However, I wish that the seat would have been more adjustable and that it would have gone up and down. I am a short person, so I had trouble seeing over the dashboard!

I was really excited to buy my first Hybrid. I have long commutes to work and wanted a car that could save me gas mileage. This car is a 2018, at the time of this writing it is now 2021 (4 years old!). In the time that I have bought it, the car died twice on the highway commuting to or from work. The first time it died there was no check engine light warning to indicate any kind of prevention to get the car looked at. I was just driving home and then a big yellow icon popped up. I was able to coast my car off the road and turn it off. I waited a bit and then turned my car back on. I was able to safely finish driving home before calling the service department at the Hyundai dealer in my area to take a look at it. After they finished and I paid for their services, no satisfactory answer was given for why it died or what could be done to prevent it. Just something about some kind of water hose being replaced??The second time my car died was this past Nov 1st. The day before I heard noises coming from my car but I couldnt be certain. Again no check engine light or anything. So as I drove to work again on the highway all of the sudden a check engine light comes on and my car dies. I barely make it to the side of the road again with smoke coming out. I called AAA to tow my car to the Hyundai dealer. They wont be able to look at it until mid December. All the local Hyundai dealers were booked. I took it to an auto repair shop to run diagnostics and was told my engine had seized. I would need to replace the engine. This car is only 4 years old, I cant believe it. Right now once I get my car in the shop, I am praying the manufacturer will cover replacement of the engine which I was quoted costs $10k! My remaining car loan is more than that. Come next year, whether replaced engine or dead car Im selling my losses and chucking it. Hence, my presence on ConsumerAffairs. Looking for a better reliable car. (Sigh) Hopefully I can warn others. Its comforting to see my experience is not unique to me.

I really should have taken Hyundai up on their return policy! October, 2017
I really should have taken Hyundai up on their return policy! October, 2017 I purchased a new Hyundai Tucson Sport. Salesperson told me that vehicle had Bluelink with remote start and all other features! Waited for car after purchase (5 hours by the way) and took it home. Tried to register Bluelink, only to be told after an hour that the vehicle is not equipped with Bluelink. Phone call to dealership (should have returned it)... they agreed to install a remote start. They installed a rather goofy remote start. It actually went off when I entered the car to try and drive. Long story short, after numerous problems with the car not recognizing the key fob and the alarm randomly going off, they removed the remote start (as they could find no other cause).Fast forward, now my year old car will turn over upon push start, and simply turn off. This has happened over 8 times now. Taken it in to service department and told we cant get it to do that, we cant find anything wrong. Next time, just have it towed. The next time, 20 minutes trying to start - call for tow truck (cancel class I have to teach because I am late). Tow truck arrives & says I have to move your car and what do you know, the car starts! I drove it directly to dealership. I told them keep it, drive it, find out what is wrong and fix it. That was Tuesday. Saturday, nothing - I went and got the car back. Emailed Hyundai Consumer Affairs - given case number with someone will contact you within 3-5 business days. Today, car wont start! Late for work and car still sitting in my driveway! I took video and forwarded to dealership service dept and Hyundai Consumer Affairs indicating I want a car to drive (as I am paying for one that is not driveable) until they find out what is wrong and fix it! That was 3 hours ago... still no phone call or reply of any kind! This was my first and last Hyundai purchase. I will never buy Hyundai - and may end up having to sue! So frustrated!!! I should NOT have to ask for a car to drive, when my car that is under warranty - keeps being inoperable.

I would like to report MPG fraud by Hyundai. In January 2014, I bought a Sonata, which promised 28 mpg (city and highway). Since then, in LIGHT suburban and highway driving, I have averaged 19.2 mpg on a 4 cylinder car. Hyundai refuses to take any responsibility for this and states the mpg on the car sticker is an estimate. An estimate of 33% less. I urge all prospective Hyundai buyers to take note of this. They have been very uncooperative and I have tried to settle this several times.

I purchased a 2012 Hyundai Sonata in May 2015. 3 weeks after purchasing I began feeling a weird vibration and jerk when accelerating and braking. The violent jerk would worsen and I took it to get an transmission flush and the jerking stopped. Weeks later the jerking began again. It did this in and off about 2 times in 3 months. I took it back to the dealer who had 3 different repair shops who looked at the vehicle and determined it was transmission failure. I received notice a few days later informing me that my model of 2012 Sonata was upon those being recalled for engine failure as well. On top of all this Im moving to California in 3 weeks and desperately need reliable transportation. I will never buy a Hyundai again and am switching back to Nissan. I will be contacting the BBB and fox 2 about the issue and writing a letter to the office of the president! Lesson learned to research car manufactures reputation.

My 2013 Accent has multi rust spots on roof and the right side on top of both doors. Took this issue to Hyundai last September 2014 for warranty issue but was denied by Hyundai saying this is caused by rock chips, this car was only twenty-six months old at that time. After saying this, the hood do have a few small chips which are not noticeable unless you really look for them and there is no sign of rusting. Now explain how can there be rust spots on the roof from so called rock chips when the hood has rock chips and no sign of rust. I had never had my car on gravel roads, yet my husbands Tucson, purchased at the same time, always on gravel roads, do not have any rust spots. I personally think because I am a woman that they can make that decision, guess what, this is not the end. I have been to a body shop and was told the rust is from inside out and do have this documented as of today, May 13, 2015. When I decided for the second time to purchase from Hyundai, I also convinced my husband to purchase one also, which he did at the same time, Hyundai Tucson. We will never ever purchase from Hyundai again. Please follow me in this and do not make any purchases from Hyundai. I will keep this going all the way if possible to get justice.

When I asked the dealership, they never have these. They refused to order it, stating Hyundai does not take request. Additionally, all the cars on their lot have the crap I do not want (cargo net, cargo tray, floor mats, etc.) This adds up to $400 worth of junk. I asked them to remove it and they wont. Shouldnt that make it a Standard Option? If that is the case, isnt that false advertisement? The website advertises something that the dealerships will not deliver. Brought my 2015 Santa Fe in the middle of March 2021 after my mechanic reported engine issues. Dealership refused me at the door, after waiting an hour, and said there was no sound. 7months later, problem obviously worsens, and this time - wow, they found the same problem I reported 7 months prior. Did I mention my 6 year old vehicle only had 55,000 miles at the time I first reported this? What kind of quality engine starts fading at 55,000 miles - especially when the vehicle is primarily used to shuttle children to and from activities. Since it was bought used and past the warranty mileage of used cars (which why should the 100,000 mile warranty vary based on a car being used or new - perhaps because they know they can screw more people with said advertising?), Hyundai would only offer us 65% which might be okay if Hyundai engines weren’t 25,000$ (Are they using gold or some other precious gems in there?).What I’m also struggling with is the fact that smaller model Hyundai engines are being recalled left and right and totally covered. Well my semi larger sibling to these recalled vehicles is also experiencing this engine issue, so I beg you to consider this is an issue outside the smaller suv. The story doesn’t end there - so stay with me…Just over 2 months later (and a few days after completing a rating they sent me - ironic?), I hear back from the manager. They want to help me out - can you believe that!! I thought 2022 was going to be my year (despite Covid still going on and both my children having a stomach bug at the time of the call). There was one catch. Corporate would be more likely to work with me, IF I was willing to rescore them “as an act of good faith.” Well what fool would rescore them without a new offer proposed? You guessed it - this fool. In my defense, I wanted to know the percentage before rescoring, but of course that wasn’t possible since the higher ups had to make that offer. I figured - what do I have to lose?A month of me calling almost daily to find out what rescoring did for my problem resulted in nothing. Nada. Not a fraction of a difference because I don’t get my car serviced there and some other **. Which is ironic since their mechanics were the ones who didn’t notice the problem after my mechanic sent me there (now more than 10 months ago). Any respect for Hyundai (do you really find it acceptable for your engines to die at 55,000 miles?), any hope that they cared about their customer safety (I mean who would want their family driving in a vehicle that could leave them stranded after 55,000 miles), are lost. I am deeply disappointed with how much time I have wasted trying to work with a company that in my option is a scam. I’ve requested another rescore - think it’ll come as quick as it did the last time??

Bought a Hyundai Elantra 2010 at Linwood in Paducah. A/C not working but did not know it; accepted hot air from it as normal. Drove in this condition with my cat to Lexington, KY; cat suffered heat exhaustion. Took it to the Glenn Hyundai and they said they fixed it. Same problem cropped again and again. And sometimes I did not use A/C. When I took it the last time for the AC: Dealer rep accused me of going there a few times and not ever mentioning that the AC was a problem and once I had not hit the button. Dealer said fixed it the first time - that dye was placed and small valve problem fixed. But I heard nothing about this. This time by mistake I saw the dealers notes which said cracks on belt. But that was not mentioned to me. Why were these belts not replaced during warranty? Do they wait until the warranty is over to cheat? Also, early on, I drove to another city and felt the steering pulling to the right. Being inexperienced and afraid of big trucks, I drove into the guardrail but I distinctly felt the tug to the right. This was in Jan/Feb 2010. In 2014/2015, Hyundai asked Hyundai Elantra owners to go to the dealer and get this steering problem fixed. Surface of steering wheel, brake lever, brake and gas foot pad all eroding after only 1 yr or 2. Got a lemon. Regret buying Hyundai. Nightmare car!!!

I was the owner of a 2012 Tucson purchased in August of 2011 from Hyundai of Paramus. As part of my sale package, I requested a trailer hitch be put on the vehicle. The dealership had me bring the car in to the service department in early September to have the hitch put on. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I asked for the paperwork from the service. The worker there told me that since it was not being paid for by me but was part of my sales deal, that I didnt need anything. I said Supposed I have problems with it? They said just bring it back to the dealership, that the info is in the computer. I didnt know any better so I left. I went to sales to confirm what the worker in service told me and the salesman said No problem, dont worry if you have any situations, we will handle it.A couple of months later, I wanted to go fishing and was going to pull the boat. Well the hitch mating was too small. My friend laughed at me and said That hitch cant pull anything. It was kind of small. I went back to the dealership, told the salesman that sold me the vehicle that I needed them to change the hitch and put a 2x2 hitch like I originally requested and he told me he would get back in touch with me. Months past no contact. We forgot about trying to tow anything anywhere. It was just a cute additional thing on the back of my vehicle. (They never switched the hitch for me. I was told I waited too long, that the place that installed it would think it was used. I was never able to use it!)Anyhow, on February 9th, we had a snowstorm. I drove my vehicle home and parked it. In the middle of the night the break lights came on and would not turn off. I was going to take it to the dealership first thing in the morning but when I awoke, my car was in flames. Luckily no ones property except mine was damaged, anyhow. I had to report it the fire to my insurance. Instead of the fire being handled by warranty through the dealership, the insurance co. started a claim (the dealership refused to look at the vehicle). My vehicle should have been replaced - covered by warranty, but unfortunately was totaled out by the insurance co.Most of what I owed on the car was covered through the claim and I was left with a $5,000.00 bill. I requested Hyundai to absorb the debt because it was no fault of mine the vehicle caught fire. They would not. I asked Hyundai Motor Finance to absorb the balance due because of the fire and to consider my perfect credit with them. They referred me to Hyundai Consumer Affairs which did absolutely nothing. They said if it had been covered under warranty it would have just replaced my car, but since I had an insurance claim already started, there was nothing they could do...I wound up having to buy another Hyundai because I had a balance. I was hoping to combine the balance from the previous car into the new one. That happened but not with Hyundai Motor Finance. They wanted too much per month and a higher interest rate. So I got the finance with another lender for the new vehicle (2 years older than the one I had with nicks in the paint, took 3 months to get the touchup paint pen from the dealership they promised me with the purchase). The dealership was eager to serve me to get me into another vehicle. They were all polite and calling me and everything, as soon as I signed the papers on the new vehicle. All that stopped. I was never told by the dealership that the warranty money I paid which was included in the cost of purchase price of the vehicle I lost to fire was supposed to be reimbursed to me; I found that out while complaining about the financing company and the consumer affairs dept. of Hyundai from someone in recoveries. They let me know that since my account was now paid off in full, that I was due to receive the warranty money back from the 2012 vehicle.I got in touch with the dealership. They said I needed a payoff confirmation letter from the finance agency. I brought them one in the first week of April 2013 showing that my account was paid off in full on March 3. They put the paperwork in to get my reimbursement of warranty funds. They calculated what my expected reimbursement was supposed to be and gave me a copy of the paper which was filled out by the finance manager at the dealership. It plainly stated to reimburse the customer directly (account was pd. in full), attached the payoff letter. I waited - its now May, I call the dealership, no one returns my calls. I continue to try and call them and then have to go in person because no one would return my call.I was told when I went in person, they had to do my paperwork over again and re-submit it to the warranty company. They had requested information to know if I still had the burned up vehicle or if I had purchased a new car from Hyundai. Neither should have been relevant to my claim for reimbursement since the car was paid off in full! My papers went to the warranty company a second time. I waited until June and called the dealership many times. Finally, I called the consumer affairs division of Hyundai again to be given the number to the warranty company. I called them, they said, Oh, your funds were approved and the check was sent to the dealership.I was angrier then. I asked why it was sent to the dealership and not mailed to me. They said thats how they do it. Well I went to the dealership in person again because after numerous calls, they never returned my messages. I was told on July 2nd that they would have their finance department give them the check and I could pick it up on Friday the 5th. I told them I needed my money, I have been waiting for months and was told I would be called when the check came in and the owner signed off on it. I was never called.July 5th, I got very angry with the receptionist at the dealership because she would not get a live representative on the phone for me and kept transferring me to voice mails or to service, when I asked for specific people that sit directly in back of her station. She finally got me someone. That employee told me that the check was paid to the bank (the financing bank/Hyundai Motor Finance) on June 3rd, stated the total amount and everything! Now there is smoke coming from my ears. On top of them lying to my insurance company about the trailer hitch which caused the fire on my 2012 Tucson, they now have taken over a grand out of my pockets and I am still trying to recover from my losses.I call the finance company and speak to the representative who admits yes, I was correct, my account was paid in full on March 3, 2013 and does not know why I have not been sent my reimbursement of funds yet. She needs to speak with her boss. They put me on hold. She told me that they were going to have the check released to me on Monday, which would have been the 7th of July. I asked them why they kept it, knowing that I didnt owe them any money. They claim it had to clear 10 days (thats unheard of with chk.21).Anyhow, she was supposed to call me back on the 7th. She never called. On the 11th July, I called HMF Hyundai Motor Finance to see what was going on with my check. I was told by another employee that the check was sent out on the 9th. I figured I would have received it by now. Nope, still no check. I called yesterday and was told that they authorized the release of the check on the 9th of July but cant tell if it went out yet. Hum.. its July 18th, they have 1081.25 of my money, I was never late, never missed a payment and yet they got my money in error and for some reason dont want me to have it back... I am appalled. I left a message on their directors voice mail and he has not had the dignity to return my call either. I want them all exposed. Enough is enough. Oh by the way, my Certified Pre-Owned 2010 Tucson just broke down on me. The radiator cracked and I was stranded, roadside assistance (the only good thing I see about Hyundai came and towed the vehicle) and the dealership still has my truck for the 2nd full day now. I was not even given a courtesy loaner car and work far away from home. They seem not to be that concerned about that either. They are telling me you should be happy the parts are covered by the warranty. Well, it just ought to be.I have been given such a runaround, lies on top of lies, incomplete customer service and lack of real concern about any of the issues I have been experiencing with the dealership and the financing co. and service. Something should be done about it. I had it in service a few times. I have a car that will not run. And when it does, it has the roughest ride of any car I ever had, especially on the freeways. I am 87 years old and between the rough ride and now this starting problem, Im very upset that I have to fight to get my money back. This should be a recall item. What do we do? Doesnt implied warranty state that I will get a car that I can start and that I wouldnt be stranded in 105 deg. heat like I did? It is a serious health and safety Issue.

With less than 600 miles on my new Equus, it is in the shop because of a failed valve cover gasket, so I am told. It obviously was leaking when I bought it, as the very next morning, I was cleaning up oil drips from my garage floor. Because I bought it from a dealer some distance from my home, they could not see the evidence of oil leakage and opined that I was seeing air conditioner condensate from a drain line in the vicinity of the area I described as the problem area. After a few more days, and a trip I already had committed to, I got my local Hyundai dealer to pick it up and take a look. They called back and claiming to be astounded, confirmed that the fluid was indeed oil and was coming from a leaking valve cover gasket. I really like the car, but am not the least happy that I now have a vehicle whose engine has had to be repaired, though not the real guts of the machine. Still, as what is held out as their super luxury, top-of-the-line vehicle, this is a pretty damning circumstance. Who was asleep on the production or parts supply line? Anyone else have similar engine quality issues? I have not heard back because the parts must be ordered and then installed. Stand by. SO far, I havent been able to judge the service response.

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata died on me last night while driving home on the 210 Fwy without any warning whatsoever. AAA towed it to Parkway Hyundai in Valencia, CA. I received a call today from the dealership telling me I need a new engine. Although my car has 150,000 miles on it, they are mostly easy highway miles and I have not had any mechanical issues up to now. I regularly have maintenance done to the vehicle. I am furious after reading numerous complaints from other 2011 Hyundai Sonata owners with the same problem and Hyundai not accepting any responsibility.

Car lost power while driving down the interstate and engine started to run very roughly. Took it to the closest dealership on my next day off who called me the NEXT day to tell me that I could come and get the car, but its not fixed because they dont have a fault code to be able to fix an issue, even though they can clearly see that the car isnt running correctly. Car is still under warranty, but wont run, and Im supposed to just bring it home??? Does that make any sense to you?? IDIOTS! Then the service advisor goes as far as to try and sell me a tune-up... ON A CAR THAT WONT RUN! RIDICULOUS!Customer care, not much help there either. They tell me a manager will contact me in 3 to 5 business days. I also bought an extended warranty that NO ONE CAN FIND under my VIN #. How does that work? Every other manufacturer has always been able to see my warranty info listed by the VIN#.... why not Hyundai? All this sounds like HUGE runaround tactics to me. You got me once Hyundai, but never again. Should have stuck to HONDA, Ive had 3 of them and never any issues. Very dissatisfied.

I leased a Genesis (2016) on 1/1/16. It had numerous electrical problems. The main problem was the dash display would malfunction. It would be blacked out completely, when driving or backing up. Sometimes it would stay on after the car turned off and locked. Other issues: All lights go out in the interior and headlights while driving at night. * Drivers side window would only go up 1 inch or down 1 inch at a time randomly. ** Battery discharge error randomly goes off every 30 seconds. ** Strange sound in back right of car, possible gear malfunction. ** Dash display malfunction. *** Possibly fixed. Did not happen again while I owned the car. ** Never fixed. Could not find the problem or never fixed. I had to file a BBB case under the lemon law of North Carolina. Hyundai fought me the whole way and lost. They had to buy back this car. Communication is horrific with their Consumer Affairs department. They did pay most of my case but still owe me money. Ridiculous I have to keep calling them. They never return my phone calls. Ill never buy a Hyundai again personally. I also plan on sharing my message with anyone so at least they heard my truth before you bought a Hyundai. Just so all know this message is 100% truth and 0% embellishment. Goodluck to all you car shoppers, and be smart!

I bought a 2011 Sonata in Jan. 2011. In March, I called my dealership to report that my car was pulling to the right. The service manager told me it was from the strong winds we had been having. I also called the dealership in late March because my moon roof was leaking. I took it in and they put a new moon roof. In August I again called and told them about the moon roof leaking again and that I needed some door dinks pulled out (I purchased that extra package). The dealership set up a appointment for me and when I arrived, the service manager told me it was the nature of the beast for the moon roof to leak and he had not made an appointment with the people who fix door dinks. I ask him if he was going to make a note about my moon roof and that the car still pulled to the right. He replied, What do you want from me? very harshly and stated they do not make notes when no work was done. Travel time for me to get to the dealership is 1 hour and I have taken off work to take my car in. This past summer, I did get a recall on the front of the car (The recall was about struts being bad). I called the dealership and ask about it and he informed me that they were waiting for a tool to be able to do the recall and he would call me and set up an appointment. I never heard anything from them, so I called in November and they set up an appointment for December 16. I also ask about getting the door dinks fixed and he stated he would set up the appointment for that also. I took it in on the 16th and they worked on the front end of my car and when I picked it up, I was informed my front right wheel was bent. They moved it to the rear of the car. I believe the rim was always bent from the day I purchased it, but he said they would not warranty it. I believe this should be warrantied. They did not make an appointment to get my doors fixed. I would travel to Columbia, Mo. to another dealership if that has to be done. I love my car and believe Hyundai does not treat their customers like this and want to stand behind their promises. Thank you for your time.

Purchased a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in May 2013. It unfortunately came to my attention that despite what Hyundai labels as Americas Best Warranty, that this same warranty will not be honored for the repeat breakdown that also occurred in May 2014. The problem that is being referred to occurred for the first time this past May 2014. When the driver made a left turn on a side street, he heard a loud noise coming from under the car. Upon further inspection, the vehicle was not able to be driven and therefore a flat bed came and towed the vehicle to the closest Hyundai dealership, which was College Park. Once the car was able to be inspected it was determined that the rear differential case cover bolt broke off; (actually it completed sheared in half) which in turn caused damages to the passenger side axle, propeller shaft, shaft assy, and flange assy. After a few days of going between the dealership and the manufacturer it was determined that it would be covered under the warranty and they then arranged for a rental car and began to do the repairs. After a couple of weeks, the car was completed and it was driven without any further issues until the most recent incident, which occurred October 9. Once again, the driver was making a right hand turn coming out of his work-place parking lot. Again there was a loud noise and this time the car was left totally inoperable. Because of the mechanism of the defect the car had to again be placed on a flat bed and towed to the College Park Hyundai once again. Again there was communication between the dealership and the manufacturer, but this time it was determined that it was NOT going to be covered under the exact same warranty that covered it in May; definitely something that was hard to figure out; how a different opinion was made this time. If you compare the work order from both May and October, once again you will see that the rear differential case cover bolt broke off; (again, sheared in half). As you can imagine this then in turn caused damages to the passenger side axle, propeller shaft, shaft assy, and flange assy. The warranty is not going to be honored and base the defect on the operator error or something along the lines of the way the vehicle was being driven. I find it hard to determine how the exact same defect can be covered under the main warranty at one point and then 5 months later have the exact same problem occur and NOT be covered under warranty. In addition, if you look at the repair order from the May event, you will note along the side Limited Warranty; parts and labor warranted 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. So this is yet another warranty that Hyundai is choosing not to honor. I find it very difficult that a company can come to two completely different conclusions on almost identical defects. When we called the consumer affairs division, unfortunately we were not met with the courteous of individuals. And I can’t even blame this on someone having a bad day as with every time that we have had to call the consumer affairs office to try and deal with this problem, we again were met with less than professionalism. After discussing this problem and going between many individuals, you have come to the conclusion that now you are willing to split the repairs 50/50; and we still have not been offered a rental car to use while all of this is figured out. With your latest decision is that after it does get fixed (under warranty or partly under warranty), what warranty (or will there be a warranty) is going to cover these repairs yet again. It is unfortunate that it has come to this. I am hoping that Hyundai would honor the warranty that claims to be the Americas Best Warranty and fix the vehicle. If Hyundai does not consider this under warranty, then what next?? How am I to know what Hyundai warranty they will honor and what warranty they won’t honor. It doesn’t seem fair or ethical that a business manufacturer can decide not to cover a warranty just by saying so. It is a shame that a letter such as this has to be written before Hyundai will consider a different conclusion and come to the realization that the bolt that was sheared in half yet again should and does consist of a defect covered by the warranty. Anyway, after all is said and done they refused to cover it under warranty and estimated repairs at over $6000 dollars. I will never buy a Hyundai ever again and have been telling everyone to run, dont walk as far away from a Hyundai purchase as possible. Whatever happen to the customer is always right. Thank God for Lemon Laws; we will let the courts figure it out.

Nothing but problems from day one of this loan; first month wrong contract
Nothing but problems from day one of this loan; first month wrong contract information entered that I fought for 39 months. At month 36 of my 39-month lease, I learn they made an error and its a 48-month lease, We went around and around. Then turn in car at end of lease (48 months not 39-months mind you!) to have termination fees, return fees, mileage fees (I expected those), and had a $1400.00 bill. HMF tells me I can pay it incrementally via the same account. I pay $400. then $100 each month at the suggestion of the HMF call representative. I did this on principle because I was so mad about how I was treated so I decided to pay it slowly. Yesterday, I get a phone call from a collection agency saying I owe $1400.00. I explain I have the payment confirmations from my bank showing $900.00 in payments my husband has made--the agency says (quote) well hes lying. No payments have been made and you owe it. I call HMF today and the representative, Tanya, with a heavy Indian accent, tells me she sees the $900.00 and its in collection for $402.21. Again, I tell her that her Hyundai co-representative told me to pay it that way. She says, Ill make a note of that on your account but you have to make arrangements with the collection agency to pay it. I have never had collections on this or any car loan! OMG I was NEVER LATE NOT ONCE. It was auto-pay from my bank! I requested a statement with complete billing history and told Tanya I would pay Hyundai the full amount directly. I have been switched and mislead over and over. Buyer beware!

I leased a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and was very unhappy with the auto. This was a purchase and sale. I have all the papers to prove this and tried to explain to them, Hyundai leasing, that I do not owe them anything and, if any monies have to be paid it would be by the Dealer, not me. Now they have reported me delinquent to the credit bureaus and as a result my credit scores have been reduced and as a result this has cost me higher interest fees, etc. I have disputed this with Equifax, Transunion and Experian but not successful. Well, I have now officially scratched Hyundai off my list of car companies I will ever buy from or deal with again. To me, customer service is important and when I find a car company that treats their customers no better than United Airlines I take note and tell others. It all started with a known engine problem with my Hyundai model that was diagnosed at two different repair shops one independent and one Hyundai service dealer. The dealer advised me that even though I recently went out of warranty, it was a commonly known problem and I should contact Hyundai Consumer Affairs at (800) 633-5151 and see if they could help.I then opened a case and a fellow at Hyundai Consumer Affairs named Christen asked me what my desired outcome was. I was being reasonable and said I would at least like them to cover the cost of the faulty part, and he said he would open a case and said it seemed like a reasonable request and would likely get approved. The only stipulation was that I take my car into a Hyundai dealer for the repair work and talk directly with the service manager. Once the work was completed, I was told we could get this resolved with Hyundai within a week to ten days. Two days later I was provided with the repair costs from the dealer along with a message that my case # ** that was created with Hyundai was denied. I was then advised by the dealer to re-contact Hyundai Consumer Affairs at which time I now talked with Zira who informed me that the decision was final and there was no chance for appeal or reconsideration. I was at a dead end with Hyundai. She said if I had a problem I could contact the Better Business Bureau which I most certainly did along with writing about my experience here.At this point, I dont expect Hyundai Consumer Affairs to do what is right after misleading me into one of their service dealers and then leaving me with the full bill payable to Hyundai. I do however want to now share my experiences with other potential car buyers so they know what to expect from Hyundai in the way of customer service moving forward if they ever consider buying a Hyundai now or in the future. After how I was treated by Hyundai Consumer Affairs, I certainly know they will never get any business from myself, my family, and many of the people I know.

I purchased a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT in January 2014. I bought the Titanium package with my car and about two months later I hit a pothole and ruined my tire. I filed a claim and they not only didnt pay the $200 but never even responded other than to say they needed more documentation (which I submitted). This service is not worth the energy to get a reimbursement! Additionally, my car was advertised as getting 30-39 MPG. I havent averaged over 21 MPG in the past year and I have only 8,000 miles on my car of which 70% are highway miles. Ive tried to deal with this disparity through my dealership (Rogers Hyundai) and have tried contacting Hyundai directly with no response. There should be some compensation for such a huge difference in promised mileage.

Zero Rating if possible. I dont really know where to begin with this brand and its terrible cars. I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata Turbo in 2013. Ive spent countless hours with my car in the shop over the car sputtering, shaking, cutting off at stop signs. Not to mention the electronics in the car are terrible; Bluetooth doesnt connect half the time for unknown reasons. Theres been at least 4 recalls done since I purchased this car. I had to get a total electrical discharge done to reset the electronics because the car was going haywire. Finally, Im down on Myrtle Beach for vacation and the car totally shuts off. Turns out it was a faulty engine that needed to be replaced. Took 30 days to get the engine sent in from Korea and replaced. Then somehow the rental car that I had racked up an amazing 2400 bill of which Hyundai determined to only pay $400. And then afterward I noticed the car jumping and things shifting and making horrible noises under the hood. Turns out the repairmen didnt screw the transmission mount screws on tight enough both of the bolts had the heads off and the transmission was moving around while I was driving. The dealership told me the car would be fine to drive and so I did until it just became unbearable. Now they want me to fork over another $1700 to replace the entire subframe that they messed up when installing the engine. Hyundai is a horrible company with Horrible cars. I will never purchase another thing from you and your terrible dealerships. Go out of business for the countries sake or leave your terrible cars in Korea.

We have had the 2014 Elantra a year which we bought directly from Woodland Hills Hyundai dealer. It wasnt cheap, as with the extended warranty of 100,000 miles it came to $24,000. We were never told the car did not come with a spare tire. We spent the evening of fathers day being towed back to the dealer and missing our plans because we got a flat tire. The response I was given as its like this in all the cars now. I know that isnt true, because we also bought a Toyota and Nissan which have spare tires. For a company that prides itself on safety, not having a spare or informing the purchase that there is no spare, is not ok!!! The car drives fine, but this to me reflects very poor customer service.

I have owned my 2012 Sonata for 1 yr and 10 months. The chrome trim on the hood was noted to be bubbling up, when I took it for its 60K mile maintenance. Its not rust, but rather bumps coming up on the trim work. Definitely a workmanship/manufacturer issue. I paid extra for the best warranty I could get when I bought the car. That was for 10 yrs and 100,000 miles, bumper to bumper, everything included they say when they sell you the car. Incidentally my warranty was extra at the time and not part of the special 10yr /100k they offered later. I paid around $2K extra for it. The dealership stated they would see if the corporate office would cover it because now they say the trim is not included in the bumper to bumper 10yr/100K warranty but for only 3yr/36K! How can they change the rules?? The corporate office stated they would not cover it. The service representative said the dealership might cover it under Goodwill. However he called today to tell me they wont cover it either! Guess they have no Goodwill there. (The dealership that lacks goodwill is Carl Gregory in Brunswick, Georgia.) So what about my Everything warranty?? The point is it should have been covered. Who wants to buy a car from a company that doesnt stand behind their warranty or their words? Secondly who wants a car that falls apart at 1 yr and 10 months!!? Not even halfway through most car payments. I am upset and stuck with my Hyundai Junk and I wont be buying a Hyundai again. They are not a reputable company. (Just got sued yesterday for $100 million lying about their emissions.) Beware!

I bought a used Hyundai Sonata 2011 in Oct. 2011. The previous owner had around 25,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil and also the brakes on the car since I have purchased it. It was running well with no problems (no indicator lights or warning lights ever came on), and of course there was no noise, just running as usual. I have put around 16,500 miles on it and no problem. On Dec. 22, 2012, it just wouldnt turn on, so I thought it was my battery. We asked for a boost but it still didnt work. I called Hyundai and stated they would get it towed in. That was on Dec. 24th. The tow company decided to give it a boost first to see if he could get it started but he also said the battery was too drained. I waited for a call from the mechanic and on Dec.26th, I was told he needed my authorization to change out the battery that it was no good. I asked if it was covered under my warranty with Hyundai or even the extended warranty I got. He stated no. So, I said replace it. The following day, I called for my car to get picked up and he states he needed to talk to me and said my car still didnt start and I would need a new engine due to no oil in the engine. He told me that the car looked like it had never been maintained, not once ever. I told him I did, but I didnt have the receipts to prove the oil changes. So he told the Hyundai Company that he denied the coverage due to neglect on the car. And I told him I also have an extended warranty which I told him to call. He didnt. I had too.I called a day later since he never called back to let me know anything. He stated my extended warranty wouldnt cover it either and I asked why. He stated it was because he denied the warranty due to neglect of the car. It’s funny when no lights or noises occurred without any indication that there could be something wrong, and all the extra coverage I got to avoid any problems. He states the problem could as well have been there from the previous owner and my bad luck I got stuck with it.

Since that date any time I go to the dealer complaint about loud transmission vibration and sound and delay on acceleration etc. they simply reply sorry this is due to the discontinued DCT defect that is well known for this model as if I have to accept it and live with it. The real problem that I have discovered that Hyundai has known about this defect prior selling the car to me and still they sold it and I simply have to live with the defective transmission that will definitely crash in the very near future!!!

The summer of 2010, I wanted the 2011 Hyundai Sonata with a passion. So I waited for three months for this vehicle! From the moment I pulled this car off of the lot, Ive had issues with the car. Issues that I have taken to only authorized Hyundai service dealers and the issues are not fixed. Issues such as steering, tire pressure light and the car not randomly starting. Talk about frustrating. How frustrating to have my intelligence insulted when I take it to the authorized Hyundai dealership and no one can figure out the problem. How frustrating for me to pay for rentals when my car is in the shop and Hyundai cant figure out the problem because as one of the service dealers told me, Hyundai doesnt do loaners for under the hood issues. Ive been late for work five to six times, not including the close calls of being late for work because my car wont start! I have been stuck outside of an establishment at two in the morning because my car wont star. I have videotaped the instances on my phone and showed it to the servicemen that Im not making this up and their reply, The problem never happens here when we have the car, so theres nothing we can do about it. The car steering has been an issue since I first drove it off the lot and once I made it home, I called my car salesman (who is now retired) immediately. He told me to take it to the dealership if I felt something was wrong with the steering! The dealership told me its called electronic steering. I pay a $420 a month car note and $193 a month in car insurance for a vehicle I dont get to use at my leisure.Up until this point, Ive always had perfect attendance at work. I love what I do and I love saving lives. Im in the medical field and my patients dont care nor do my employers if Im late because my car wont start. Just because I drive a Hyundai that has issues that I have repeatedly taken to the dealership doesnt mean my job will give me a slap on the wrist for tardiness. If I lose my job, how will I pay my car expenses? If I lose my job, how will I have money to take care of my family and household? Its cold and snows where I live. Is it fair for me to be stranded for hours at a time trying to start a car and videotape the car not starting in order to have proof that my car has issues?! My lease is not up until August, so am I forced to stick this out until the end of my lease? The sad part about this is I originally wanted to purchase this car at the end of my lease. I went three months without a vehicle, while I patiently waited for this car to be created at the manufacturer. This was my first and last time purchasing a Hyundai! I have no interest in this car or any Hyundai product because of how I have been treated as a consumer. Not to mention, my coworkers, family and friends saw the agony and what Ive gone through with this car without any type of compensation for my inconvenience and even they are shocked by my Hyundai experience! They all feel some kind of way about Hyundai. I had a coworker tell me, My husband and I were considering the Genesis, but after seeing you with your issues with a car thats only 2 years old, I told my husband why bother? Im too afraid we too will experience the same treatment. What frustrates me the most is that Ive contacted a lemon law attorney who has been in contact with Hyundai since September and Im still nowhere! Its as if the Hyundai representative could care less about my inconvenience, my life and my job! The lawyer and I have emailed video clips of me being stranded with the car not starting, sent documentation supporting their service men not being able to fix the problem, and no Hyundai representative has said Lets start talking about how to establish this clients needs and make her experience pleasant from this day on. Its now January and I am in tears, frustrated and an emotional wreck because my job is on the line! No employers care that I have told them and put it in writing that Im waiting on a lemon law attorney to help me find some peace with this vehicle. Please look over my tardiness until this has passed. At this point, I no longer want the car to purchase nor do I want to keep the car until the end of my lease. I dont even want money from it! I only want Hyundai to take this headache away from me and take it apart and service it properly before selling it to another consumer. I would hate for someone to have to experience what I have experienced as a first time Hyundai customer. Im curious to know, how many other 2011 and current Sonata owners have had similar issues?

If you happen to purchase a Hyundai that has an engine safety recall. You will not only be paying for the new engine Hyundai will be profiting from you. Hyundai has figured out how to make their customer pay for Hyundais bad engineering. They charge you 6,000 dollars for a new engine that failed from their bad engineering. The engine that cost them 900 dollars. Great customer support make money from your customer because of your fault. To make it even better they will profit from it again because the new engine has the same problem. What a wonderful company. I work for their OEM. I know how much they pay for their parts.

We have been happy Hyundai customers for many years. Earlier in the year, we were noticing that our Genesis was sporadically pulling to one side. We took it to our car to Chapman Hyundai in Phoenix, AZ - the dealership we purchased the car and loyally worked with them on all of our service needs. They couldnt recreate the issue, so they returned the car to us. We continue to have incidences of this happen again, so took the car back. They did a wheel alignment. It didnt solve the problem. In June I lost control of the car when coming off the highway. I feared that I would not be able to stop at the bottom of the off-ramp, which would have resulted in a major accident. Fortunately, I was able to regain control and stop the car in time.We tried to make an appointment with the dealership, but there was a 2-week wait, so we took it to a local repair shop because we were afraid to drive the car and couldnt be without it for 2 weeks. They quickly saw that all 4 control arms had major cracks in them. They replaced them. They said that this issue should have been detected by the dealership mechanics since the cracks were quite large. This doesnt happen overnight. They also suggested there may be another issue that should be watched if the pulling should happen again. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs to report this situation on June 2nd. I was told that I would hear back from a case manager within 10 days. I was finally contacted (after repeatedly calling, sitting on hold, waiting, and waiting) on July 14th. The case manager immediately told us that there was nothing she could do as far as reimbursement of the over $3500 of costs we incurred at an independent garage because the car wasnt repaired by a certified Hyundai mechanic. I stressed our lack of faith in the technicians, stressed the risk I was put in, and threatened to go viral with my story. She came back 5 days later saying that the company would reimburse me for the cost of parts only - however, I had to take the car to a dealership for them to make sure the work was done properly. She wanted me to pay for this service while taking MORE time off work - not having a car. She called me back 2 days later to see if I was going to accept the offer even though I told her it wasnt fair that I had to pay for the service call as well as everything else Ive been dealing with. She called me back - as promised - on July 22nd. I was unavailable to take her call. Since then I have left multiple messages/emails with her with no response. The pulling issue still persists to this day. On August 4th we scheduled a service call with a different Hyundai dealership. Again, we have to wait 2 weeks for our appointment. Were left with an unsafe car, no response from the company, and no sight in end to this issue. When my husband had car issues with his Acura, they had to wait 2 weeks to get the necessary part that was draining our battery. They provided us with a loaner so we werent inconvenienced and kept us updated on the status of the part. Thats customer service. Maybe Hyundai needs to look at its competitors and learn how to treat people properly.

Bought a brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson eco, I only had it for a few months and its been in the shop more than I have been driving it. All types of problems with the electrical, it is at the shop at the moment I am typing this while mechanics are scratching their heads to figure out what is wrong with it and how to fix it. I called Hyundai corporate they said they would return my call, You think they did. What a joke. They have no concerns about the safety issues with this car even though I tell them that the windshield wipers stick two to three inches from take off on the windshield. AC sounds like Gremlins are about to attack you coming from the vents. Transmission drives and shifts like somebody that does not know how to drive a stick shift when this is an automatic vehicle. Gas gauge sticks even though its full and you cant put any more in it. The gas gauge will read from a half tank to 3/4 of a tank full until you hit a bump. Including with the issues the dash lights dim and brighten by themself. This car should have yellow lemons painted all over it along with every car that Hyundai puts out especially since corporate is treating their customers this way, not a very good ethic on gaining your customers Trust or to get repeat customers. I really dont understand how this company is in business. I guess thats why our government had to do a bail out on their **. My experience alone it has been a real shady experience.

I just leased a new Sonata. And after the deal was final and I took possession of the car. 6 days later, I was contacted by Hyundai finance (Kevin) at the dealership. I was told I needed to come back in because they made a mistake with the bank rate and the residual was too low. I was told my payment was going to go down 5 dollars and the residual was going to go up 2700. I was also told once I got to the dealer that I was entitled to a Platinum Bram Auto Protection plan for the length of my lease. When I asked why I was getting this I was told for the inconvenience and its just how the new numbers work out. After signing the NEW contract, I was called yet again 5 days later to come back to the dealer, that there was a mistake made again, and they did not take into consideration the 21M miles that I originally needed and had in the deal. When I went back the finance guy and the GM had me in the finance room and I was told they need to either raise my payment, or take away the miles and the protection plan. I said I already have a signed contract, plates, keys... Etc. for 2 weeks. He told me if I did not sign, I would not get a payment book and it would be like I have a stolen vehicle.I left the dealership in complete despair. I have never been strong armed and treated like this. I told him, he was threatening me and that I have a legal contract. He said, Go see your lawyer, that contract is void. He wants me to sign a different deal than the one I have and give back everything that they have in my contract. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO TO KEEP THE CONTRACT THAT I WAS GIVEN AS WRITTEN, AND THE CAR.

I bought a Hyundai Elantra in 2007 with a three year warranty. Within the first two weeks, the indicator switch had to be replaced. This happened again over a period of a year and now that the warranty has expired, the indicator only works manually.Approximately 8 months after purchasing the vehicle, we heard a grinding rear noise, especially when reversing. It was very noticeable. I am an Estate Agent and it was embarrassing. The local mechanics examined the car and after saying that they knew exactly what they were doing, replaced the rear disk pads and callipurs, etc. with the approval of head office. A week later, the noise was back. I took it to the local supplier but they could not find the fault. My husband kept on saying that they should look at the release bearing and they ignored it. The car was eventually taken to Johannesburg, and a week later, I was informed that it was the release bearing. Remember, this was over a period of a year. They replaced the release bearing just before the warranty expired. All was fine for a few months and then we heard a noise in the engine. I took it in and was told that the valve lifters had to be replaced at a cost of $4,200.00. I phoned head office but they replied that it was out of warranty and not their problem anymore. The day we collected the car, we noticed that the noise had not disappeared. Fortunately, our car was at the wash bay when the workshop exploded (not so sure it was fortunate). The mechanic who released the car to us admitted that there was a noise, but seeing that they had no equipment, nothing could be done about it at that stage. When they arranged for an alternative workshop and the proper equipment, I took the car in. To my utter amazement, they phoned me a day later to tell me that the oil pump, timing chain, and tensioner had to be replaced at a cost of $10,000. Fix one thing and another one appears. What guarantee do I have that this will be the end of my woes and that the problem has been diagnosed properly? I spoke to the Manager, Ben, and told him that I wanted a second opinion and that I would take the car to Bloemfontein. He agreed with me and told me that a car with 70,000 km on the clock should not have all these problems and that I should take it further. I was really excited when I received my brand new car but now, I feel like setting it alight. My husband is so frustrated that he just wants to get rid of the car. We listened to an engine of a similar Elantra - what a difference. My brother in law had an Elantra which clocked 600,000 km and it hardly ever had any problems and that is one of the reasons why we bought one.Let me just say that the local supplier and his staff had always been helpful and friendly, but they can only help to a point and after that they have to abide by Imperials Rules. I will not stop until something is done about it.I appeal to you. Please see what you can do for me.

Had a headlight out on 2011 Sonata. A new lamp from an aftermarket dealer did not work. Yet both the old lamp and the new one were tested and shown to be good. (I had a mechanic with me and he verified both lamps were good and could not provide an explanation why good lamps would not work). Took vehicle in to Burdick Hyundai, Onondaga County, NY. Manager gave me a lamp (Phillips) he said was bad, that that brand did not work out well in Hyundais, apparently being the one I had changed. I paid for the service and took the bad lamp back to the parts dealer. The parts dealer informed me they did not sell the lamp I was given - the lamps I had purchased were Sylvania. Called the parts manager who said the mechanic must have just given him the wrong bulb. Asked for the old lamp so I could get a refund from a parts dealer. Was told I had not asked for the old parts. Called me back once, did not call back as he stated he would the second time. In the meantime, I put the original old lamp back in the headlight and it worked. Something is wrong with this picture. The lamps would not work when I took it in, it works now, but the lamp I brought in cannot be located to check it. I am concerned they did warranty covered work and charged me for a bulb repair. I expected an explanation and when the parts manager did not call me back, I wrote to Hyundai. The amount is minor, but I do not like how the dealership and now Hyundai handled it. Hyundai Corporates response was not what I had expected. Hyundais Reply Sent at 7:28 PM. Relevant portion of the form letter below:...Please keep in mind while the dealerships are authorized to sell, and maintain our product, we are unable to influence how the dealerships conduct business, reach diagnosis or decide to retain old parts. The best way for you to resolve your concern about the diagnosis and headlamp in question is to bring it to the General Managers attention...In other words I read that as Hyundai is not responsible for the performance of their dealerships so complaining to Hyundai gets you a form letter and no action. Hyundai appears to back the dealership, not the customer. I assumed Hyundai would care as their name is on the vehicle. I was wrong. I suppose my issue is minor, but it appears to represent a corporate attitude that will not help you if you were to have a major complaint about a Hyundai dealership. Caveat emptor!

There should be zero or negative star option for Hyundai finance. Their customer service is horrible. They take your money first but they will make you cry and suffer to the necessary document they need to provide you to get the charge of your vehicle. Their CS is horrible. no training, no respect for customer and flat out liars. When you complaint they just drop your call so you have to call them again and wait in line for hours. As you can see review after review and complaint after complaint which also reflect in their ratings but no improvement. I hope KARMA catches to them. Strongly recommend anyone to stay away from them. I would never buy Hyundai car so that I never have to deal with Hyundai Finance.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Engine Failure: 05/09, car stalls and will not start. 05/10, towed to local Hyundai dealer Northshore, Vancouver. Service Manager says before the vehicle arrives that it is probably because I do not change the oil. Service manager asks me to authorize payment to diagnose problem. I ask him why I would do that as the vehicle is still under warranty. Service manager says that they cannot proceed without authorization, and tells me the bill will be bigger if the engine has failed. I provide 3/6 service records with the last completed only 1 month before engine failure. Hyundai Canada denies warranty, no relief of cost due to lack of Maintenance. I have asked for all records and inspection criteria from Hyundai Canada and they have declined to provide. Talk to the garage. Its a great way to ensure no warranty is paid. Have Hyundai service garage charge the consumer/customer to prove that it was the consumers/customers fault. $228 for the diagnostic, $3500 for the engine, $1600 for the labor.

I have owned three Hyundai cars, all have been new cars under warranty. I have only had to taken them in for mechanical issues less than ten times. I have never been told by a Hyundai service department that if they find that the problem is not a warranty issue, like a rat chewing through a wire, or hitting a curb and knocking something loose, that I will be responsible for paying over $100 for them taking time to look at my car, whether they fix the issue or not. I can understand the cost of fixing the issue, but not the cost of just looking at it. I can understand if I was bring in a 2001 Toyota. But I am bringing in a Hyundai to a Hyundai dealership while under warranty. It is implied that while under warranty the dealership for that brand of car will check your car when it has mechanical issues for free, and if it isnt a warranty issue, charge you for the repairs. I mean they sure do talk up how good having a warranty is when they talk you into buying that 10 year 100,00 mile extended bumper to bumper warranty, but if you want to get it looked at, you better bring $200, just in case the problem isnt under warranty. Because whether they fix it or not you’re paying. This was my experience at North Freeway Hyundai in Houston TX. The service consultant Bruce ** didnt even test drive my car to see if he felt what I was feeling, until he first told me that just to look at my car, I basically need to have the money to pay just in case it isnt a warranty issue.

I have a 2011 Hyundai Accent which I bought April 1st 2011. Since I bought it, I have had issues with the rubber around the outside of the windshield, which started coming off 2 months after I bought it. I have had to get it fixed twice. The first time they glued it back, it came off again. The second time, they replaced the whole piece. Now December 2011, it is coming off again! Im going on my third time. Then in August, I found out that it came misaligned from the factory and the dealers solution was to put a shim so they could go in and align it properly, that took 2 months to fix and now my tires are warped because of it! By the way, Im still waiting for new tires and it is now December! I spoke to the dealership in order to look at my options, because I no longer want this car. I dont want to deal with the hassle of repeated maintenance (its a brand new car!) and the solution to my lemon is to trade it in so they can squeeze more money out of me for a car that Ive had for 8 months! This was my first brand new car ever. How disappointing. My old 98 Ford Escort gave me less trouble than this. 5 times to get your brand new car fixed in the span of 8 months! What a mistake. Never again!

Starter of my 2011 Hyundai Sonata went out on August 1, 2012. I work in Oakland so I managed to get it back to Fresno. I took it to Lithia Hyundai Service department. Heath ** was the assigned service advisor. He said they will take a look and get back to me. Well, Lithia replaced the starter and said there was a recall on something regarding the starter. I picked up my car on August 3rd. While driving on August 6th, without warning, smoke started coming from hood area and shortly after a flame. I managed to pull off road to a parking lot where the car died. I immediately called AAA to tow to Lithia. While waiting, I took pictures. Service department was closed so I left in lot until morning. I returned to tell what happened. Heath said they would take a look. He called 20-30 minutes later to tell me engine has hole.Mind you, in returning my car the first time from the starter repair, I was told and given paperwork stating everything else was good. He recommended two tires, an air filter, and front brakes. He assured me everything else was okay. Now one month later, I called to find out whats going on with my car. Heath told me he wants to repair because he can make $7,000. I needed to bring him a receipt of my oil change. I have done that and my car is still sitting in service department at Lithia Hyundai. I called every week but get he hasnt heard from Hyundai yet. I asked him to call me when he does, the pictures hes sending and he didnt comply. He told me it would be done by the afternoon. I went to Lithia and my car was still sitting outside in back of shop. I went back on Saturday and it was on a lift.Heath was not in and no one else could answer my questions. I was told everybody handles their own cases. I returned that Monday and Heath told me he sent pictures and docs. I asked for copy. He refused. He just gave me pictures. I dont know whose car that was from. I have since called every week. He said he has no answer yet. I have been away from work since August 2nd. On August 24th, I lost my job of 18 years. I am not a happy camper. My car is new and has little mileage and it should not have caught fire.

Hyundai Motor Finance sent us an unsolicited pre-approval. We were in the market for a new car, Hyundai vehicles had good ratings so we went to the Hyundai dealer. We should have known from the get go that something was fishy, they tried to change the rates/terms in the pre-approved letter, then the $2,500 discount magically disappeared from the final contract, they then said it did not apply to pre-approved offers, though it had been on the first contract they showed us. Our mistake - It was now 10 at night, we went ahead signed the papers and drove the car home. Problems started with the first payment that they claimed not to receive the paper check in the mail, then paying online was not an option, so we went to Western Union and sent them a payment. Second payment same issue. They seem to have real administrative problems processing and keeping track of paper checks. Third payment we sent in a double payment to cover the month ahead. 2 months later they processed the check, it bounced for NSF ($10 difference in our bank account). They repossessed the car with no warning, no contact, no opportunity to even know that the payment they took 2 months to process had now bounced. They took our car over 300 miles and 6 hours away to another state and gave us less than 10 days to reclaim the car (with hundreds in extra fees for towing and storage now applied). Every attempt to process paperwork with them was a waste of time. We spent over 12 hours on hold in a period of 3 days trying to resolve this, only to be cut off, transferred, or just plain left in limbo. One day we were on hold over 2 hours when it hit 5 PM, and we were disconnected because their office closed. We finally got one human on the phone who was willing to help us and would fax paperwork for us over to the dealer. It never arrived. The finance dept at the dealership was equally baffled and attempted to help us resolve the issues but Hyundai finance wouldnt ever cooperate with the dealers office.Of the limited number of days we had to reclaim our car, 4 of those days were weekend days which their office was closed. So we had 6 working days to try to resolve this with an office that we could never get through to except on a very few occasions (I think we actually got a human 3 times out of about 40-50 tries). No paperwork ever arrived at the dealer, they would not accept any paperwork that the dealer had on hand (it had to be their special forms). Our car was over 300 miles away in another state. We had the cash - but because of their convoluted procedures, and lack of help, and terrible staffing on their customer service lines - WE LOST OUR CAR!Where did our car end up? At a Hyundai dealer in Ohio that seems to have a car lot brimming with dozens of used Hyundais, less than one year old with low miles (like our car), that are for sale at almost the same price as when they were brand new, but with used car interest rates, with car loans offered by - you guessed it - Hyundai finance! We were out our $2,000 down payment, our $4,000 trade in, + 2 payments, and now with the extra fees Hyundai STILL wants an ADDITIONAL $3,500 from us for a car we had less than 4 months. Our credit is wrecked (the repo lowered our score over 120 points instantly). In hind sight - this seems like a terrible scam where they are selling the cars twice, the second time at higher interest rates at almost the same price as brand new, and racking up impossible fees, and unwilling to work with consumers to get their cars back.4 months with our Hyundai cost over $10,000 - not a bargain in anyones book. Their lack of customer service, inability to reach them, the stonewalling as we tried to get the money to them to reclaim our car - they just made it absolutely impossible. And sending our car over 300 miles away - how high do they have to make the hurdles? We live in a metropolitan area with plenty of auction lots where the car could have gone to, sending it 300 miles away was overkill, designed to make it even more difficult for us. The finance manager at the local dealer was left shaking his head. Apparently 300 miles is the MAXIMUM that they are allowed by law to take the car and they took it to the max (12 miles further according to MapQuest). Shady.

Hi, just wanted to share with experience Ive had with Hyundai. I have encountered several issues with my Equus, both with the 2011 and the 2014 models. With the 2011, it was serviced a multitude of times, concluding with the installment of a new compressor. However, the cooling (or lack thereof) issue still remained. When that lease ended, I was assured that the A/C issues with the Equus had been rectified. In good faith, I leased a new 2014 Equus, and much to my dismay, the A/C issues were NOT resolved! So, here I am, AGAIN, in the same exact predicament! Hyundai insists on continuing to deny this problem exists and continues to market inferior products. Any consumer can read the blogs on the internet and clearly see that there is a definite A/C problem with the Hyundai models, including the Equus! Hyundai is lessening their credibility in continuing to deny this issue exists! Hyundai needs to step up to the plate and stop denying that they do not have an A/C problem with this vehicle. They MUST do the right thing. Otherwise, their reputation will be at stake. Recurring customers like me will no longer return, and unfortunately for Hyundai, we will tell others about the poor service and callous treatment we received and of our negative experience.

The music system of my i20 car has gone out of order. Though I contacted the local dealer for repairing, they told me to buy a new one as the same is not repairable. Thus, Hyundai is cheating customers by providing such a music system with the car. Though I had sent a number of mails to Hyundai (India), it was in vain. I think the customer care section is also a cheat - really horrifying.

This will be my LAST Hyundai. I will EVER buy. I just wish I have a bigger audience to advertise what a fraudulent auto company this is. You will NOT get this from Honda or Toyota. I got this vehicle (2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited) NEW. After 8 yrs of driving it, I lost the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty because I just went beyond the 100,000. So on the last week of 2021, I nearly got stuck in the highway because the car would not accelerate and it was jerking all along. I quickly pull over to the side of the break down lane. My car was towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership that I can find. Due to a lot of people having trouble with their cars, the dealership told me I had to wait for 3 weeks before they have a chance to check my car. Then, I ask if they can give me a loaner car while this car is in service. This dealership like other Hyundai dealerships that I have worked with told me that they cannot.I read other feedbacks from people who gave their ratings here. I noticed there were many people with the same experience I had to go through with regards to a no loaner policy. I owned Honda in the past and no matter what condition my car is, Honda and its dealerships would NEVER let me go without a loaner. I even told the Hyundai dealership that I have an 80+ yr old parent I need to take care of and bring her to see the doctors often. I need a vehicle at all time but still, there is no luck. Now, i understand that maybe my vehicles issue is due to wear and tear. But still, if there is a RECALL, I would expect to get a loaner. NO way. no loaner even with recalls. And this vehicle had a TOTAL of 6 recalls! None of the recalls provided me with a loaner. What Hyundai asked is to have you save your receipts and ask for compensation in its online Hyundai USA system. DO NOT TRUST IT. Why? First, they tell you that they need 180 days to process it. Think about it.. 180 days to process a claim??? I submitted my rental in the past with everything including my receipts to them and you know what I got? After waiting for more than 180 days on one claim, I contact them. The lady on the other end told me the claim was denied and rejected. I said why? She just told me there was a mix up. But I personally did NOT EVEN get any notification of the rejection. Really, dont bother submitting a claim. You will not get a DIME from them. They will find every way to deny it even if it is a legitimate claim. if Hyundai has a No loaner policy, at least make the vehicles reliable. I have only 108,000 miles in my car. This auto company should be ashamed of themselves for making junks and unsafe vehicles for consumers and expect the consumer to pay for their mistakes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH HYUNDAI. I dont understand why people here would give them a 4 or 5 star rating. Well, they shall know what I mean once they go beyond 100k miles in their vehicles. Perhaps they will regret that they praise this unprofessional company; and one last point if people do not know already, THIS IS NOT A JAPANESE COMPANY. This is a Korean company and it STILL has a reputation for making BAD CARS.

Front bumper falls off very easily on Sonata - Be very careful when pulling into a parking spot with a tire stop installed like most handicapped parking spots. I went about 2 inches too far and heard a scrape on the tire stop. I backed up slowly, and it pulled my front bumper off the car on one side. I pushed it back into place and taped it up to drive home. They are the cheapest little plastic devices that hold the bumper on the car, and once they break (according to my dealer), you have no choice but to replace the whole front end of the car ($1,104.00). When speaking to the body shop for Hyundai, they explained that Hyundai used to warrant this problem, but there were so many that they quit doing it. They said they had replaced over 25 of these recently. I went through all the Hyundai customer options, but they would not help in any way. There is nothing to keep this from happening again except being very careful when you park. I will never buy another Hyundai again because of this. Very cheap manufacturing and possibly dangerous. I hate to see this happen with our car companies. I never had this happen with any other car in the last 50 years I have been driving. Just an additional note, there is not a scratch anywhere on the bumper except underneath and nothing broke or cracked except these cheap fasteners which are attached to the bumper. Some of the other plastic parts under the bumper have to be replaced as well. Hope this helps others, and I wish I knew about it before I bought this car.

I purchased my third Sonata, a 2012, just four months ago. I purchased my first two from a dealership near my home in Houston but my third Sonata was purchased in Baytown, Tx. After only a little over 4000 miles, this Sonata left me stranded in Austin, Texas with what I was told was a failed wheel bearing. Fortunately, the wheel did not come off and I made it to a safe area. I felt that being a loyal Hyundai consumer, that Hyundai would help to address this (now third issue) with my car. The car had to go in for service for a back brake plate rubbing against the rotor the first week of ownership.I am having great difficulty getting anyone at Hyundai or the dealership to acknowledge that this Sonata has inherent issues that would warrant replacement of the vehicle. I no longer have confidence or feel safe driving this car. I even question as to whether I might have been sold a car that was unsafe to drive. When the car was towed to the dealership in Austin for repair, they first told me that they did not know for certain what was wrong with it - only that it was something serious and I would be encouraged not to drive it even across town. Many assurances of help and complete satisfaction - and none followed though.

For the price point of this vehicle I expected not to hear anything inside. But it seems as I go 40mph and above I hear air as if the window is cracked open. Hyundai says its road noise but I know the difference. Its a lot quieter in my wifes Juke than in the Palisade. I think the door is to light weight so air noise seeps through. Hopefully Hyundai will find a fix for this. Its probably the only reason so far I would not keep this vehicle.

Recently I was informed by my local Hyundai dealership that the battery on my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid needed replaced. Not the hybrid battery. I was told it was $312.00 for the battery through the dealership. I said thanks but Ill go elsewhere. After 3 weeks of looking and calling around Ive been informed that the battery can only be purchased from a dealer. I decided to call Hyundai customer service to find out why. There is no reason other than, Because thats the way it is and because we can. What?? Really??That is how the conversation went. I asked to speak to someone who could answer me why and was told that, Everyone else will give you the same answer, the way it is and because we can. What kind of crazy monopoly is this. Any other year Sonata battery can be purchased elsewhere. They are unwilling to explain why, they are unwilling to require the dealership to sell the part at a reasonable price, nothing. No help, no explanation, no concern or consideration. I have really liked owning my Hyundai until now. I recently paid it off and now its having issues creep up that require attention only at the dealership. Interesting, frustrating and suspicious. Might very well be the last Hyundai I ever own.

Genesis is a separate something in the Hyundai universe. When it comes to finance or services, its Hyundai. The car itself is a gem. Nothing to say about performance, comfort, and all. For the service portion of it, its a complete disaster. Worse is when ethical issues reveal themselves. Believe it or not, parts from my engine were stolen during a 5,000 miles revision in a dealers service shop, false diagnosis of broken parts with a $3,000+ estimate on something verified absolutely functional, like new, not broken at all. Verified by a Genesis engineer after a long fight with management so upsetting this was. And finally the finance department reporting a late payment to the credit bureau when it was clear the payment cleared and all was fine. This is by the way the unresolved issue. They would not budge and remove their rating so obsessed they are to find you, the customer, wrong. Over three managers at the credit customer service department saw the evidence, accepted to make the change, and this was never done. The above shows a scary behavior. Two different dealers (stolen part was my first Genesis and the rest by another dealer where I leased the second G80). Am a customer service professional and very affected by this type of story when I read or hear it from someone. When going through it by myself it is of course more painful. I demanded they take the car back and close the leasing contract at no cost for me. They refused saying it is not a Lemon law violation. Instead as they recognized with their engineer that nothing justified any repair and that it was a scam and offered 3 months break on the leasing payments. Not one word of apology. I responded that it was not about the Lemon law or any default in the car but the simple fact that I cannot trust them moving forward and want to walk away from the relationship. They could not understand that.

I had never bought anything but a Chevrolet or a Ford and I always had a full size car. The Hyundai was the first foreign car and the first small car that I have purchased. I love the way it drives and the MPG. But I did have a problem with the seat belts that the dealership refused to acknowledge and fix and the tires that came with the car were not good. It also did not come with a spare. I will never buy a car without a spare again.

Elantra 2015 - Starting at 3000km uncontrollably bouncing at highway speeds
Elantra 2015 - Starting at 3000km uncontrollably bouncing at highway speeds, trying to drive me into the ditch. Dealer in Belleville, Ontario, Canada said never heard of the issue. Google proved him wrong and when I took the printed proof was told it the USA assembled cars with the problem. I persisted and got new balance, then new heavier rears shocks, more balance and new specialized balance and at 12,000km a mechanic finally determined it was a problem with the Continental brand tires on the Hyundai (I was one of thousands who had already complained). Finally got new set of Continentals to replace original. Perhaps the service department cant balance tires but the problem still remains (although a bit milder). No resolution yet!!!
