While driving to see family 260 miles from home in our 2012 Kia Sorento with our 3 children and dog in the car, the engine started making a knocking noise. No check engine light came on and we had no warning. Since it was -10 degrees outside and we have our 5 month old baby, we tried to make it to the exit. Unfortunately about 2 miles after the noise started, the car completely died! We pulled over and tried to restart it with no luck. This car has 62,000 miles. Thats it! Tow insurance ended at 60,000 miles (of course) and we had to sit with the state trooper because it was so cold outside. The dealership we had it towed to was very helpful (Prestige Kia Eau Claire, WI). However Kia headquarters was awful to us. No help with a rental or the tow. Turns out the engine is seized and needs to be replaced. Garbage! We will never buy another Kia. Now we have to drive all the way back to get our car. Very unhappy!

Bought a used Kia Sorento 2014 from the dealership back on January 2016. Sometime in December 2016 started having problems with the doors not locking. Did not have chance to bring it to the dealer to check until February. Apparently, something is wrong with one of the Fuse and they need to replace the entire Junction box. I thought this would be a manufacturing problem and it will be covered by Kia. Unfortunately, it is not and the cost would be $875.00. Warranty is over 1 year so it will not be covered. On top of that, the dealer charged me an additional $120 because I also mentioned to check the rear view camera because it stopped working.A word of advice, Kia will charge you an extra diagnostic fee for every problem you want them to check. Tell me if this is not a rip off. Unable to do the repairs because the cost is too high so my doors do not lock and my rear camera is not working. I would never purchase another Kia and would not recommend it to anyone.

We experienced our 2nd flat tire, seemingly on the same tire, but not sure. When we took the car in, with this flat tire, we were told they were unable to patch and patch and a new tire would be needed. Trouble is, all four tires were new and we had never changed any. The only tire ever attended to prior, was another flat tire we were told was also not repairable. So with 4 new tires, how could we have a patch? Apparently we were not sold a new tire the last time, and instead, replaced by a patched tire. Now they say they dont remember so it is our word against theirs. We are not happy about this.

Reported coolant leak on Oct. 27, 2020. Took car to Doug Smith Kia on Nov. 6, 2020 and picked up loaner vehicle. Nov. 18, 2020 took loaner back and picked up our Sorento. Got Sorento home, within five miles, and noticed that coolant leak had not been fixed. Took vehicle back to dealer, same day, and got another loaner car. Nov. 24, 2020 picked up Sorento again and drove for a few days. After each use strong coolant smell was detected and coolant level in overflow and radiator down. Dec. 3, 2020 took Sorento back to dealer for third time and it has been there ever since, over 4 weeks now. Have NOT been contacted by dealer for update or status. Contacted KIA USA and was given a case number. KIA USA indicated they would intervene and try and help resolve issue with Sorento.

Purchased a Kia Rondo EXV6 in May 2008. Have had ongoing issues with the transmission which we started to notice around 71,000km. We brought the car in, they didnt find anything wrong. We followed our required maintenance plan and my husband is very particular about high maintenance for our vehicles. My husband purchased the extended warranty. At the time we purchased it he was told the extended warranty covered the car as though it were brand new! My husband specifically asked if the transmission drops out of this thing at 199,000kms, will it be covered? Answer was an emphatic “Yes, for sure! Guaranteed!”That was a lie. We repeatedly brought the car into two different dealerships with transmission complaints. And until last summer, the dealerships diagnostic tests deemed there was no problem found. Each time we had to pay over $100 for the diagnostic only to be told they didnt find a problem. Last summer, there was finally an acknowledgement that they found a problem with the transmission during their diagnostic. We thought “Wonderful, it will finally be fixed!” No such thing. We found out the dealership had to report to the Kia Protect extended warranty insurance company and received permission from them. They sent an adjuster out to test our car. Of course the adjuster said there was no issue and refused the repair. Approximately two weeks ago, the heater and the heater blower went on the car. We were in an extreme cold alert in our area during that time. I brought the car in for repair and once again reported the problem with the transmission. This time I pinpointed what gears were slipping when shifting and it was getting bad. We received a message from the dealership - they confirmed the transmission was not shifting properly. They indicated they would have to put the claim through the extended warranty company and then wait for approval. In the meantime, they temporarily fixed my heater so I could take my car. The next week the heat went again and at the same time the dealership asked me to bring the car in for inspection by an extended warranty company assessor. The assessor acknowledged the problem with the transmission and said it needed to be fixed. He commented to the dealerships service department that our car was in really great shape and it was worth doing the repairs because it was in such great shape. We were relieved and happy. We thought this meant the transmission would FINALLY be fixed. The next call we received was from the dealership - they asked us to bring in our proof of maintenance paperwork as the EWC (extended warranty company) was now saying they would reject the repair because we did not follow the recommended maintenance. We did the required maintenance as outlined in our Owners Manual and as advised by the dealership. We brought our paperwork in. The next call we received was from the EWC. First they tried to argue with my husband about the recommended maintenance. My husband argued that we performed our required maintenance and that not doing the recommended maintenance did not void our warranty as it wasnt a requirement. When the EWC saw this angle was not going to work, they told my husband that the car was only worth $2500 and the repairs would cost more than that so they would not approve it. My husband argued and we looked up the black book value of our car. We found a car with approximately the same kms was worth at least $4000 more than that. I took to social media to vent my frustrations and suddenly my husband receives a call from an ombudsman from Kia Canada. He spouted the same crap as the guy before. I again took to social media and then my husband received a call offering us a discounted rate of $900 to rebuild the transmission and this would include the repair of the heater and heater blower. We refused. We dont believe this company is being above board with us. They are not honouring what we were told when we purchased the warranty. This warranty is a scam. If they have no intention of repairing the vehicle then why cover it until 200,000km?!! This company should be reviewed by the government for the sales of these warranties.

First off, I was a college student and wanting a new car with a warranty so then I wouldnt have to worry about having to pay extra for cars that I recently had that kept breaking down and I had to empty my pockets to keep running. I knew that I couldnt afford to get a loan for a better car and I looked in KIA and heard nothing but decent reviews about them. But from that start I got conned, I spent $14,000 for a new KIA with already 216 miles of test driving done on it and it was a manual with no bells and whistles, not even an air conditioner. But me being conned was my fault. I should have brought someone experienced in buying a new car with me, but fault still falls on them for taking advantage of me and not having ethics on their side of business. My next complaint is that I have automatic lights that I can just keep the switch on and the light automatically turns off. But when the cold weather of the winter time hits me, my light somehow miraculously turns back on and kills my battery. I called in and told them about my issue just 3 months after me purchasing my brand new car and they said that there was nothing to do about it. I wrote in several complaints over and over to the company and still nothing happened. Now, Im stuck with a battery that has gone completely bad from all the times that I have had to push start or get jump starts from. I will never buy another KIA as long as I live.

I inherited my parents 2003 Kia Spectra. I was driving it on the freeway when all of a sudden the right rear tire froze up causing me to have to pull over to the small shoulder in the inside lane. I immediately put on my hazards as I was still halfway in the lane. I turned the car off then back on again. I was then able to continue on to my destination. When I got into the car again to go home, it seemed to run fine. Then when almost home it did it again. I was luckily close to a Les Schwab who said it was my brake lining, which had broken in half. They said that it has been happening to 2003 to 2005 Kias, they had three just last week. I have heard of no recall for this problem, but something needs to be done about this before someone is killed. I have to have them repaired, which cost me $270.

2012 Kia Forte - On 6/18/13, I was driving the car and white smoke started coming out of the tailpipe. There were no warning lights or anything. I took it to Kia of Bedford, Cleveland, Ohio and was asked to provide service records because there was sludge in engine and they will not honor warranty. They wanted me to pay $8,000 for a new engine which I will not do. I researched Kias record and found all over the country complaints of not honoring warranties - Kia of Bedford had 81. When I talked to Kias Customer Service Manager, Ms. **, she was nasty and unconcerned and offered as goodwill - yeah right - to pay half and I pay half. I will not. I am trading that car in and will not ever, ever purchase a car from Kia.

2013 Kia Optima Recall: My car was checked and determined to have the issue with metal shavings in the engine. They have arranged for an immediate loaner - even though they do not know when they will have an engine for me. I asked them what the new warranty will be for this new engine and I cant get a clear answer. Will it be the full 100,000 miles which only seems fair? They said they had heard that it might be and extra 20,000 to 50,000 on top of the original warranty. I would have thought that they would have had that detail worked out by now.

This 2003 Kia spectra has had nothing but problems in the last 2 years. It started with the wiring on the tail lights being faulty and having to have them repaired so I would have brake lights. Then had to have solenoid A replaced. 5 sensors replaced because of corrosion. Now when I start to drive, the car is having a violent jerk backward...Very scary!!! So now I am taking it back in to have the mass air flow sensor cleaned. Pray for me that this works because Im out of money and days I can take off. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

My daughter was in an accident 2/6/2013. She was hit on the front driver side twice. The airbags did not deploy. I bought my car in 2010 and I havent had any problems with it. I want to know why the bags did not deploy? Is there any recourse? Do you sue the Kia Motor Dealers? As of right now, I dont know if my car is totaled or not. What do you do when the car you are driving does not operate properly? My daughter is 8 1/2 months pregnant. This could have been really serious for her. She was hurt on her left side only where she was wearing her seat belt.

Bought a used 2010 Kia Rondo Jan. 2015. We are a much older couple & do little mileage. A few months after buying car various lites kept burning. Brought to local garage. Was told take to Kia dealership, an electrical problem. Changed lite, burnt again, along with complete dashboard. Back to Kia, this time supposedly the hitch that was problem. Changed lites again, now dome lite. Then car went dead, boosted by a garage, told us was electrical, boosted 2 other times. Back to Kia, this time ripped out the quette, bypassed some wires, good to go. Lasted a week, headlite burnt, Kia changed again at no charge but the new lite was not working. On & on this goes. Of course warranty finished. Now burnt lites & message on dash saying check. Back to Kia. Now need to put Quette back, and 4-500$ to change wiring. They finally diagnosed. This has being going round & round since March. What a nitemare. Serviceman called ROCH extremely rude. Cannot provide order # as car is still @ garage. Awaiting the proprietors call. Am also awaiting the t.v. program J.E.s reply. My husband also bought & changed various lites. What a way to be treated. Be careful anyone buying at this garage. We firmly believe this was a undisclosed problem when we bought.

Please forward to any other KIA Executive Team member that should be informed. We just want to share with you an extremely disappointing Customer Experience and lack of Customer Care from one of your car dealers located in Delray Beach Florida. On Saturday, July 30th my wife and I dropped by your dealer in Delray. After discussing pricing and other related information, we proceeded to sign the necessary papers for your team to prepare the loan documentation and other documents necessary for us to come the next day to pick up a car that your team said was supposedly somewhere in Florida. After various phone calls during Monday, August 1st we agreed with your team to drop by the Dealer at around 7:00 PM ET, which we did. When we arrived, for our surprise your team shared with us that the car they were expecting to be delivered to their dealership for us (a 2016 Kia Sorento white LX) was involved in an accident. The car was being drove by someone instead of being delivered in a toll platform truck to avoid precisely these type of issues. Your management team should learn from this experience. In summary, we spent hours, expected a new KIA SUV be delivered to us today Monday August 1st. For our surprise nothing was delivered to us because after such a poor Customer Experience your team was not able to deliver as expected. We shared with the Manager what we expected because of the frustrating and disappointing customer experience, and that KIA management should review our situation and at a minimum propose to us a 2017 with the same financial numbers we already discussed. Your Manager understood our frustration, but was not able to compensate us for such a bad customer experience. He proposed us a 2017 but it represented around $4K dollars more than what was already discussed and agreed to (because that was all he was able to do at this level), which is NOT ACCEPTABLE to us, that was not what we originally agreed to. They ruined our weekend, our illusions and our expectations... Is this what KIA calls Customer Satisfaction? This transaction took place on the last day of the month for your Dealer. We do not want to think that they just wanted to book the sale and once the month was over they left us hanging with the problem. If you measure your Dealers based on executed sales, then this is a mute point, but if its based on sales book, then this is a problem. I just want to make sure I bring this issue to the attention of the KIA Management team, because this the worst Customer Experience I have suffered in my lifetime. KIA lost a potential customer for life. I will make sure that I share my experience with family members, work colleagues, and in social media as well. This should have never happened. A satisfactory customer resolution should have been found immediately to this situation.

I was having my van serviced and fixed. I needed an oil change when my air bag light and check engine light came on. The dealership said that in order to check out the problems it would cost me $90.00 per problem. So I went to lock my doors, and the remote didnt work so I had them look at that. Now the other remote doesnt work either so they checked that out too. They said both remotes do not work . I find it a little weird that both dont work. The car is 4 years old and the one key and remote are in my safe, just in case I lock myself out and so I dont lose them. I would like to know if there is anything Kia can do for me and my family. My Kia Sorento 2009 diesel had 101,*** kms on it and since I bought it as new it has all type of mechanical problems. I told them the prob and I have a strong feeling it was the engine. They tested it and said that the car needed some parts. I changed the turbo and other parts which would cost over $1000 since warranty would not cover it cause its for maintenance and they charge me for filters more than $400. Since 2009 the car has in the mechanical shop more than 8 months, the last time the car was for 7 months, looking for some solution - at the end they changed the engine for a 3/4 engine. Two weeks after that the car was in the mechanic shop because did not turned on, and they change the turbo, and every week we need to return again for different failures. The car is in the mechanical shop again since more than 2 weeks without solution. This karma comes since 2009 and I do not have the chance to enjoy the car.I called back Kia and schedule an appointment to talk with somebody but nobody answer or return my calls. They never wanted to apply the warranty and in general charge me for a lot of parts that are warranty. We need to make a case for Kia to approve engine change. Since the car was under warranty although they never solve the problem and were waiting until the warranty expired. I tried to contact the corp many times but they never answer the mail or complaints. I decide to delegate this case to a lawyer cause I am so tired about this car and do not receive solution. Today I have a file with all history with more than 300 pages. Thank you.

9/23/2015. This dealership ordered me a replacement tire for my new 2015 Kia Rio LX sedan after only 775 miles put on the car. A steel belt/Nylon cord came apart inside of the tire. Their service adviser was to contact me when the tire came in. On 10/09/2015, I contacted my salesperson about this issue and he got me the service manager. Service manager told me tire had been there for some time. He made an appointment for me that afternoon to come in and have it taken care of. Arrived at the dealership and the same service adviser waited on me. His attitude was pretty bad when asked as to why he didnt call to say this tire had come in for replacement. It is a great SUV for our family. Go test drive one and see why there are so many Kia Sorrentos on the road today. I paid $23,000 out the door for a brand new 2018 SUV. I traded in 2012 Kia Soul for a 2015 Kia Soul Plus. I got the car in June and I have been listening to the 3 month free promotion of Sirius Radio. I did not even notice that my new Kia has no CD player, until the other day when I went to put in a CD. I was completely shocked. My 2012 Kia did have it and I thought that the CD player was standard. I was not told when I leased this new 2015 Kia that there was no CD player. I feel that the salesman should have pointed that out to me. I am extremely disappointed and now I am looking through stores to see if I can buy a portable one to put in my car. I understand that changes are sometimes made, but a change like this should have been brought to my attention when I leased this car. This is a feature, for me, that is very important.

I was given a gas consumption card for $400.00. When I went to go use the car I was told that the card had expired, so I went to the KIA dealership on Van Kirk in Brampton, ON, and explained the situation to him so he called head office and left a message for a manager there and got no response from him. Ive been a customer of KIA with multiple cars for 22 years. I feel unappreciated and shocked at the customer service of KIA. Its been about 3 weeks now and no one has even called me back yet.

I’m a second time ‘Kia lemon vehicle’ purchaser and I have filed a case with the Better Business Bureau. Both vehicles I purchased classify as lemon vehicles because they both came with manufacturing defects that affected my safety. I currently own a 2018 Kia Stinger that has a malfunctioning audio system and is now automatically shutting off while in drive mode. This is the 2nd Kia vehicle that has shut off on me in the middle of traffic, causing a terribly dangerous situation. I have been to the Kia Cumming, GA dealership on 3 separate occasions to address my audio system issue. To be driving a $36,000 vehicle with less than 50k miles and be frightened that my car will shut off in the middle of the highway, AND have to listen to audio system static for every 10-15 seconds FOR 8-MONTHS, is unacceptable.I took my previous Kia vehicle to the dealership on multiple occasions, over a period of years with engine/starting issues, before the engine finally failed. Kia having known that this was an issue, and not doing the right thing to rectify it before I became stranded on the side of the road, was disheartening and should have prevented me from placing faith in the company again. The inconvenience that both vehicles has caused me in continuous Kia service appointments and phone calls, is so ridiculous.Foolishly I remained loyal to the brand, and traded in my previous Kia vehicle for another, only to have the SAME type of concerns arise, engine/transmission issues AND now audio system issues as well. My new vehicle is a gorgeous royal blue Kia Stinger, which causes me to get frequent attention and have questions asked pertaining to the vehicle on a weekly basis. I can honestly tell you that my response when people ask, “How do you like the car” has absolutely changed, and my response is now “DON’T BUY A KIA”!

My 2011 Kia Sorento has been a disaster since day 1. I have replaced every door on my Kia Sorento, and now my engine has failed. I have full service history but Kia are saying that it was due to lack of care because there was only 1 1/2 of oil in it when they took it apart. Now I am no mechanic but I’m pretty sure a lack of oil is more likely to be an engine problem rather than a lack of care issue especially when the oil was checked by a car garage 8 weeks earlier before its MOT. Kia’s cars and warranty are a scam. Do not buy Kia. Google Kia Engine problems and you will see why.

I leased a 2019 Stinger GT after turning in my Optima a year early. I leased the car on 12/18/18. Within the first 30 days my rear defroster made a popping noise and shorted out. I took it back to the dealership and they supposedly fixed the issue. On May 14th on my way into work the car made the same noise. I called the dealership to have it looked at again. I got into my car after work, within a few minutes I could smell smoke and pulled over on the side of the highway. I opened the hatchback to see the rear defroster compartment melted away and then flames shot out of the hole. Within 4 minutes the car burned down to the frame. A formal investigation was completed with my insurance company, Kia, and the NHTSA.Kia accepted responsibility for the fire. They bought the car back from the insurance to hide a fatal flaw in the car. After weeks of failing to return numerous calls and emails to Kia attempting to understand what the next steps are, we finally received a call stating that they were willing to reimburse us for the contents in the car- WHICH THEY HAVE to do. After several more phone calls and emails, a supposed manager named Jeff **. contacted us (of course they have no email address, last name or phone number). After going back and forth he offered to refund us the $2000 we put down on the car only 5 months earlier stating it was the cost of ownership! After asking we found out that if we accepted, we would have signed off our rights to any future actions. The fire department told me the only thing that saved my life was that I can a full tank of gas so it did not blow cause of the lack of fumes. I was minutes away from picking my 6 year old daughter from school. The fire started right under where her booster seat was. Do not buy this car as it can easily kill you.

Kia Optima Hybrid Engine - We were driving home from something on Mothers Day and the car made a loud sound and the engine stopped running. It threw a rod and ruined the engine. Kia now is saying that this is not covered under warranty because the car had the wrong oil filter and was not getting adequate oil in the engine. Havoline says that this is not the case and that it is the proper filter. In addition, even if there were an issue with the filter clogging, it would bypass the filter and oil would still flow. I have done nothing wrong but now I am in a fight. It looks like Kia is trying to just make an excuse instead of actually honoring their warranty responsibility.

Was told I need to let more fresh air in and not use the air circulating button so much. I got online and consumers from 2010 are complaining about the same problem. So we are breathing MOLD? I purchased a used 2008 Kia Rondo in Houston, Texas in May of 2009. It had around 38,000 miles on it but appeared to be in a very good shape. About a month ago, which was in October, 2011, the air conditioner started blowing only hot air. I brought in to West Side Kia in Katy, TX and was told that I needed a new air conditioning compressor and it would cost me $1,300 to fix it. My car is out of warranty because it has around 62,000 miles on it. The service advisor told me that I need to consider whether or not I want to put that kind of money into my Rondo or just trade it in for something new. My God, the car is only 3 years old! I was in shock.I asked the service advisor if this was what the quality the consumer should expect--only three years use of a Kia before having to trade it in? I asked him how a car so young would already need a new air conditioning compressor. What made matters worst was I was approached by two very pushy sales people, one of which, I told that if I had to buy another car, it certainly would not be a Kia. Ive had cars that have had over 150,000 miles on it with air conditioners that still worked like they did when the car was brand new. I was also informed that a Kia cannot use anything but Kia parts and because of this, the cost of a new compressor was triple what a regular one would cost me. It seems to me that there is something very wrong about this. I feel as if Ive been ripped off and I cannot afford to buy another car right now.

In December 2014, I was seriously injured (including a broken back...) in a 2015 KIA SORENTO during a frontal crash because the car malfunctioned. Upon impact, none of the airbags deployed and duly filed my complaint with NHTSA. After my complaint, there were 3 others filed with the most recent being March 2016 where another person got injured because the airbag DID NOT DEPLOY. Even though the IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety) identified this problem as well as potential injuries to the driver during its SMALL OVERLAY CRASH TEST - THE MANUFACTURER (KIA) still FAILED to conduct necessary defect investigation and recall on all existing 2014/2015 KIA Sorento models that have this defect which creates and heightens the risk of potential dangerous injuries because few consumers are aware of this as NHTSA gives the 2015 KIA SORENTO a five-star rating on a test that was conducted in 2013 because both the 2014 and 2015 models were in fact, almost identical WITH minimal changes.Due to the IIHS crash test results and POOR rating the 2014/2015 KIA SORENTO models the manufacturer received, it went to address these problems by redesigning the 2016 Sorento without notifying or identifying or repairing the defects in those defective vehicles currently out in the market. IT IS ALSO EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT AND IRRESPONSIBLE OF NHTSA TO POST AN ERRONEOUS 5-STAR RATING ON A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS VEHICLE.

Firstly, let me start off by saying this is in regards to the Kendall Kia located in Miami, FL. I was initially greeted by Anika, salesperson, who is a great girl with lots of sales potential. Eventually, I left the dealership in my new 2012 Kia Soul. One (1) month later, I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, Mr. Rod Rifai, after being unsuccessful at receiving a call back from any available sales representative. That conversation was trying, to say the least. My question for Mr. Rifai was when could I expect to receive my tag, as my temporary tag was expiring the following day. Somehow, that simple question turned into a screaming match between the two of us. He attempted to insult my intelligence throughout the entire conversation. I had to raise my voice just to be heard over his tirade and this was from the owner of the dealership. At the end of the conversation, I was promised that following Monday that Mr. Rifai would personally investigate the delay with my tag and get back to me. To date, I have yet to receive my tag or a follow-up call from Mr. Rifai and I am now on my second temporary tag. For obvious reasons, I will never recommend this dealership to anyone after my experience with the owner. He should not be in the business of customer service and, in my personal opinion, a hospitality class would do him wonders.

I have owned 3 Kias in the last 10 years (2 Optimas and a Forte) and I will never purchase again. Each one is worst than the last. Very cheaply made, and the warranty is a joke. Roadside assistance use to be better, but in the last 3 years has rapidly declined (again, if these cars were better made you wouldnt really need roadside assistance on a new vehicle.) The last time I called, I needed a battery jump (this car is only 2 years old by the way) and they told me they were unable to find anyone to come out. But I could pay $245 and possibly be reimbursed. What?! I live in a major city in Florida and they couldnt find one person to jump my battery??? Thank God I was at home, otherwise I could have been stranded on a highway somewhere. Believe me they couldnt care less. Save yourself the frustration, buy another brand -ANY other brand, and if you are stuck with a Kia, get AAA. For $106/year its worth not dealing with these people.

The week after I bought my Kia, the Kia dealership in my neighborhood changed to a Lexus. You would have thought the sales team would have told me when selling me my car. I thought I was getting a dealer near my place for easy repairs. So when I broke down with a flat tire, I called roadside. Im on a lease so covered. But they said I had to have my car towed to two cities away unless I wanted to pay for it and apply for reimbursement. They said Id just have to wait for my reimbursement. That reimbursement was denied after two months of waiting. According to Kia, I should have had my car towed and repaired over an hour away rather than the block from my house at the Discount Tire center I took it to.Trying to get them to respond is also a system set up to make the customer just give up: youre not allowed to talk directly to the department making the decision. Each call is to another department that has to advocate for you. That department is always backed up with calls. So to get 300 dollars back from an allegedly covered roadside service need, it has taken three months and it was denied because they closed the Kia dealership in my city.

i have been having trouble putting fuel in my 2003 Kia Sorento. My warranty has already expired. I did get a recall letter from Kia for the fuel filter replacement, at which time I felt sure this was my problem, and since it was a recall, would be taken care of by Kia. They explained to me that the reason it was recalled was because it was not listed in the manual at all, as something to be changed every so many miles. They sent two pages to be added to the manual. My local Kia dealership did change the fuel filter. That same day, after trying to put fuel in the car, I find nothing had changed. I called them and asked them to look at it again, and took it back several days later, as they were to change another recall, known as the induction control valve, and check my fuel tank once again. They told me that a charcoal canister located in the fuel system had come apart, and I now had charcoal debris in my gas tank, which of course was not covered, and that part was $134.90, and the labor would be $199.00. I went home and went through my manual for a couple of hours trying to locate this charcoal canister, to better understand how such a thing could happen. After having no luck locating it in the manual, I called Kia, and told them my dilemma, and asked them if they could tell me where in the manual this part is located, and are you ready for this? I was told it was not in the manual, because it was not listed as maintenance! I asked well how would anyone know it was even there, if it wasnt listed. They said it was just a part that was never to be changed at any point and time. Now Im going to be out $350.00, on a part that no one knows existed, nor was ever to be changed. I write this in hopes that it will help anyone else, who is having similar problems. If your fuel spits back at you, or you have to dribble the fuel in, it may be this part that no one knew about, or was not a part that should ever need maintenance. Sorry, but a Kia is not in my future.

I purchased the Kia about 1 1/2 years ago. I have 48000 miles on it. Last week it started blowing white smoke out of the tailpipe. I checked the oil, which was fine, and then called and made an appointment at the dealership since it is under warranty. I took it in yesterday only to be told that the engine was ready to blow. I thought my day couldnt get any worse until the Kia rep told me that I needed to gather up all of my receipts and that of all maintenance reports on my vehicle. It would then be submitted to Kia to see if it met their approval for their warranty. This would have been fine except for the fact that the service person told me that if I ever went over 3500 miles in between changes they would decline the warranty. I have completed oil changes at home and the service person said that would be fine except that I have to prove that it was for the Kia. Now, there was no indicator light that ever came on in this vehicle. I have faithfully changed or had changed my oil and again NO INDICATOR light came on that anything was wrong. Basically I was told good luck in getting it fixed. I have read the other complaints and it seems like I am not the only one. I owe 26000.00 on this vehicle and they said that if (when) Kia declines the work then they will be happy to replace my engine for the price of $5000.00-$6000.00. Even if I didnt complete the oil changes that I did a BRAND NEW car should not have a blown engine in 48000 miles. After speaking with their rep it was made very clear to me that they are going to decline anything that I give them. When I asked about it being a Kia issue that the indicator lights werent on I was told Well I dont know why they didnt come on and Slug in the tank means oil leak I stated to the rep that if the seals leaked because of a problem with their motor that would also cause slug in tank too right? The guy told me You would have to prove that. I will never buy another Kia. Their warranty sounds good but is full of loopholes to make a customer believe that they are getting amazing coverage when what it really is is a way to screw people out their money, their car, and their wellbeing.

I have owned 2 Kia Souls in the past 4 years. The first car had some paint problems in that a lot of chipping was going on and not only around the wheels. There was paint chipping on the sides and at the top of the roof. We dont live on a gravel road nor do we drive on any gravel roads, when I took the car in for this, keeping in mind that this is the 2010 model with 83000 km. The dealership took some pictures and sent them in to Kia for the ok to go ahead and fix the problem. Kia gave them the go ahead and we got our car repainted. The new paint on the car was considerably better, in fact we had no real chipping and as the body guy said it was because there was actually some paint on the car.We traded this car in for a 2012 Kia Soul and now are facing the same problem. The difference is that I actually installed mud flaps on this car when I got it home and it is worse than the first car, in fact at the back wheel there is no paint at all and the car has surface rust developing on about a 4 area. Showing this to the dealer, they went through the same procedure of taking pictures and submitting them to Kia, this time the verdict was different. They are not going to cover the paint work. They are not going to paint the car. I have called Kia Customer service and awaiting a call back.

My husband was driving to town this past Sat. He lost control of the steering and brakes. We had a mechanic take a look. The crankshaft bolt broke and the pin sheared off. So we have had this Kia for 10 months. Paid almost $13,000 for it. It had 68,000 miles. It has almost 79,000 now. The mechanic said that the pin should have lasted the life of the Kia. So I go to a United States Government web site and am horrified. There are 5 recalls, and 12 suggested service calls for repair of parts that should last the life of the vehicle. Some of the repairs state that this default could cause serious accidents. Then on further investigation I find out there is a civil suit against Kia. There are 1,000s of people experiencing this problem. The real problem is that the gear behind the harmonic stabilizer was engineered wrong. Its too heavy. So even if you get the crankshaft pin replaced it happens again. The Govt. site is Odi.nhtsa.gov and I also found info at other credited web site and by reading the class action suit, Robinson et al v. Kia Motors Inc et al., case # 13-cv-00006 US District Court, type that into the tool bar. I have tried to contact Kia at 1800-333-4542, 1800-225-3193. I have emailed Greg **, Director of Regional Affairs at ** and Kia USA. My Kia is not safe to drive. It is alleged that Kia has known about these engineering defects for a long time. Its a lot to digest. I am heartbroken and with no funds to repair this Kia. I pay for a Kia Sorento that is unsafe to drive. When the crankshaft pin broke, it did damage to the belts, harmonic balancer, gear behind harmonic balancer. The cotter pin that sheared off as well, the oil pan seal. Wow, but I feel fortunate that no one was physically hurt. Maybe Consumer Affairs should do an article about this. 1,000s of Consumers are affected. Will it take fatalities for someone to address this?

My 2012 SX was a problem from the start. I brought it in a couple of months after I owned it for detonation noise/turbo rattle (sounds like marbles in a can) in the engine. Kia told me it was normal, and ignored it. Then, about 2 months later, the engine blew the spark plugs apart, and I lost almost all power. I limped it back to the dealership on what seemed like it was driving on 2 cylinders. Kia only replaced the spark plugs, even though they looked like they were melted - obvious detonation damage. Kia refused to do any other diagnostics, because, It runs fine now with new spark plugs. Not long after that, after hooking my small camper up (1,155 lbs), the engine completely failed while on the freeway. It blew a hole in one of the cylinders, and melted all of the spark plugs. Kia then claimed my camper was too heavy and refused the warranty, even though the vehicle is rated to tow 2,000 lbs. I hired an attorney, and it has been almost a year, and the state of Michigan had to step in to get them to come to the table! Its now the end of April, 2013, and my car has been dead since July of 2012. Do not buy a Kia!

So I bought a car back in 2014. I was happy, after years of looking for wheels, I got some! It was a 2012 Kia Rio for 12000. I didnt want a car but the salesmen said that I could get a car and in 6 months come back and get a truck I wanted at a lower payment. So in 6 months I came to find out it doesnt work like that. So Im stuck paying 371 for a car I didnt want. Well 2 years down the road, I hit hard times. I lost my house and it was just mayhem. I tried talking to them and they said they would give me an extension after paying 2 months for a 2 month extension. So I borrowed the money and called back when they told me to. All I got was a robot who would hang up if I ever asked for a person. This would go on for a couple of months of doing the same thing. Then they gave me a consultant who wanted to help. Heres another two months I again borrowed for the last time I could. He said call back in a week. Call him he said.I did with the number he gave me when he told me to call. When I talked to him he acted like he didnt know me and directed me to someone else. There was nothing to do. 5 months in and they told me that I either needed to give them 2 months for an extension or they will take it. I said I cant pay. They said its registered as a stolen vehicle. I told them where to get it they said my address doesnt exist. I told them I brought it to my job. They said they were going to get it with the police. I own a 2014 Kia Sorento, and I love all the staff at the dealership where I have my car serviced however I will never purchase another Kia again. My car has just over 100K miles so I am out of my warranty. On 4/7/20 my left wheel speed sensor failed costing me $657.35. Then, (16) sixteen days later on 4/23/20 my fuel tank sensor failed, costing me $463.61. Then, on 5/6/20 my right wheel speed sensor failed cost me $513.32. In less than 30 days I spent almost $1700 on repairs. These sensors should not have failed like this. I have owned numerous cars and I have NEVER had any of these issues. Kia has a long history with these same wheel speed sensors failing specifically in the Sorentos and Sedona models. After many recalls on earlier models, now they only fail after the car reaches 100k.Kia advises me today that there is absolutely nothing they can do to help offset the cost of their failing parts. I was advised by the young lad on the phone that parts don’t last forever and cars need to repaired at times and that’s just how it is. Kia is a total disappointment and should be ashamed in how they treat their customers. Kia has been priding itself on how they have helped out during the pandemic, however their faulty parts put their employees, customers and me at risk on 3 separate occasions.

For two days my new vehicle with only 23000 miles was having trouble starting. The second day was a Saturday. Since this happened to me after 5pm on a Saturday there was no one at the service department. I spoke with an operator who had NO IDEA how to help me or who to direct me to. Frustrated, she directed me the 24 hour road side assistance. I called them and they too were unhelpful. They told me the only thing they could do was tow my vehicle. I said, My vehicle is running at the moment, so where would you tow it to? I asked if road side assistance could come check my battery and was told NO, the ONLY thing they can do is tow your vehicle. Since that would be of no help, I drove to an auto zone. Within 2 minutes a representative from their store was helping me and CHECKED THE BATTERY, which was DEAD. Having no choice but to replace the battery AND no assistance from ANYONE AT KIA, I had to purchase one from AUTO ZONE. Once home, I learned the battery is covered under warranty. Auto Zone would not take the battery back as it had already been put in. I was told that you might be willing to offer the customer service I did not receive in the beginning by refunding the money I spend on a battery. I called my customer service representative and he told me his hands were tied. What kind of service is this? Does KIA care more about $119 than customer service?!? I bought a KIA thinking that the customer service and vehicle would be better than those I have had in the past. So far, I am not thrilled with my purchase.

I have a 2011 Kia Sorento that acts like it’s not getting fuel or not changing gears. I took it into the dealership for this and they changed something in the shifter. For a few weeks it seemed fixed. When it began to act up again I called dealership and was told that I had brought my car in for a different reason and now that my warranty was up I would be required to pay for any service that I had done. I was asked what kind of light was coming on when the car acts up. I told them that no light comes on. Then I was pretty much told that I was stupid. If my car is doing like I was saying then there had to be a light on. My car just gets worse and worse. Sometimes it’s going along fine and then the rpm jumps to 5 or 6 and the car acts like its down shifting and doesn’t want to go. Then the rpm will drop below 1. Sometimes when you take off from a stop sign or traffic light it shifts really hard and makes a clunking noise like the transmission is going to fall to the ground. I too like a lot of others, chose the Kia for the great warranty, but when the dealership is always saying there’s nothing wrong that makes the warranty useless. Just because I’m female doesnt mean I’m stupid. And I dont like being treated that way.

I bought this Kia Sorento in 2006, brand new. I have been the only driver and have put 75,000 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems, and of course none that the extended warranty I paid dearly for nor the power train 100,000 mile warranty cover. Most recently, I had a series of breakdowns that finally resulted in my Kia needing a fuel pump, so I was told. $800.00 later, I pick up my Sorento to start it and have a loud knocking noise as well as my check engine light on. Come to find out, the mechanic noted that a week before when the car was dropped off. So, my cars been at Kia for 10 days and I pick it not completely fixed. I was told it is probably crank barrings(!?) and it will be fine for now.My car broke down again on my way home, yes, after $800.00 and a new fuel pump? So, I call the Kia dealership, I bought it from to be asked. Did you have the timing belt changed at 60,000 miles? Now, how would I know that? So, he tells me now my extended and power train warranties are null. I will never buy another Kia or Hyundai product ever again, and I will spread the word loudly! I am not a hateful person, I work hard as a registered Nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and have dedicated my life to helping people. I am recently a single mom of a 17 year-old who wants to go to college and I just cant afford to not have a car, or to have a car that is not reliable. I also feel I was cheated into a warranty that will not be honored, and it is disappointing. Please pass the word about the dishonesty of Kia.

My car, a 2009 Kia Rondo, had the right front wheel bearing go out at 69114 miles. It was replaced. I just had the left front wheel bearing replaced at 75977 miles. I have a problem with this because these should not have been a problem at this low mileage. I feel, as a safety issue, that Kia should repair the back ones also since the bearings were probably installed poorly to begin with. They wont do it.

I have a 2019 Kia Sorento. I bought it September of 2018. I live in NYC so sometimes we have pretty cold weather. In January of 2019 I had a lot of trouble to start my vehicle. I brought it in to my local service center to see if they can figure out why. They told me that they werent able to find out the problem. Fast forward to November 2019 really cold night into the morning, my car wouldnt start again. It was towed to the local service center. They had it in the shop a total of 2 and 1/2 days and they still werent able to find the problem. This is a problem that Kia needs to step in and remedy. If this continues I may have to sell this vehicle and buy a competitors vehicle instead as well as tell everyone I know not to purchase this car or any other from this company.

Recently our daughter left the overhead and parking lights on overnight, draining the battery. Normally that would not have been a big deal. However, the car was parked in a carport and COULD NOT be moved out of it to get a jump start because the car could NOT be taken out of Park into Neutral!!! It took about a dozen calls to find a service station that had a portable jump system to come out and get the 2014 Kia Sorento started, causing my wife to miss a doctors appointment.

I have had a terrible experience with Kia Motors and their Warranty Administrator. My 2012 Kia Sorento broke down during a 2 hour trip in November 2013. We had the vehicle towed over 50 miles (which Kia roadside assistance said they would not cover, but per the service dept/manager at the dealership all costs related to the breakdown would be covered) to a dealership that would service our vehicle on a Saturday located near our home. We had no choice as my wife and I share this vehicle and dont have any other means to travel to work. Rodeo Kia (the dealership) in Avondale, AZ has been very cooperative all along, and eventually (vehicle was in the shop for 1 week) the entire engine was replaced. But, we have yet to be refunded by the Warranty Administrator for the cost of the tow. Around $200.00. I am seriously disappointed as I have had to continuously contact the dealership to have this completed and I continue to receive answers in regards to blaming the Warranty Administrator. Ive been informed not only that the Warranty Administrator was changed, but that the dealership is now speaking with consumer affairs as well. This has been the most frustrating experience I have had as the problem continues to linger on.

1 week after purchasing a new 2014 Soul we took it back with concerned with a really bad bog when trying to accelerate. At that time we was told by Kia of Dayton service center said that that was just the way they were. Being an ASE certified tech for over 35 years experience I was not too happy with that answer basically saying that their vehicles all run like crap and this was normal. Then my wife tells me that the transmission started to get hard to shift. Now this is at 7500 time for our first oil change, so we take it in for our first oil change and check about the transmission. After 1,200 dollars later they said damage was due to my wifes driving and would not warranty anything. But the funny thing is that our 2003 Saturn Vue has 139,000 miles on it. Ive taught my daughter how to drive it and my wife drove the car everyday and has all original clutch in it. So you tell me if a person can drive one stick shift car for over 10 years and a brand new Kia Soul 7 months and needs a new clutch. Just ask yourself how good of a vehicle did Kia build. Well I would not trust ours to take out of town. I mean would you put your family in a car that has been broken since new? Of course not. So I did what I would advise every other Kia owner do the same - go buy a real car.

Kia knows that 2012-2014 models have an engine problem that requires a whole new engine (connecting rods). They only cover this for 1st owners and will extend the coverage for 2.4L, 4 cylinder engines. So Im basically screwed because mine is a V6 and I am a second owner (cost $7K). Even though it is the exact same problem with the engine. I bought my car at CarMax with only 11,000 miles on it. You shouldnt have to replace your whole engine at 65,000 miles! I WILL NEVER BUY OR RECOMMEND A KIA TO ANYONE! I even asked one of the main Kia service managers in my area about this and he agreed that he wouldnt buy one. Gee, what does this say about the company. I have called customer service and they could care less. I would at least expect a massive deal on the service at least. What is also scary, is that Ive been told and also seen reports that these Kia engines can just stop working while you are driving! The dealer here even told me it would be best not to drive it! Talk about being in a lurch-who can do that?? WARNING-DO NOT BUY A KIA!!!

I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthous
I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthouse Point Florida. It was one of the newer models of the Kia Soul, shadow black. A couple months after buying the car I noticed that the tire pressure light was constantly on. I ask on my next oil change and of course they said it just needed air, but boy were they wrong. I wish I knew right then to declare my car a lemon under Florida State Law. Months went by and the issue still persisted. I was still told to ignore it, that when I came there they would just reset it and it would stop. Two years later in 2013 while driving in the middle of the night, all the indicator lights starting going off in my car simultaneously and the car shut down. It would not restart! 2 years old less than 20,000 miles! I had it towed backed to Phil Smith Kia. They said a module had to be ordered for my car. They ordered it, the manager Mihai left and all of a sudden it was never ordered and of course they didnt see what the problem was. Nothing was showing up when they run test. At this point Sheldon is taking care of my car. A year passed, tire pressure light still on, when all of a sudden all of the lights simultaneously again. Imagine my fear of my car shutting off again. And when I say all the lights I mean, tire pressure light, air bag light, engine light, brake light, abs light. The electric odometer wasnt working. The rpm was going up and down. It was as if my car was possessed! I immediately took it to the dealership to find out what was wrong. They say, Oh we dont show that these lights are coming on. We need proof! Hello look at your record. Ive been here a million times. They say the only light we see is your air bag, your passenger airbag needs to be replaced, come back we have to order the part. I come back (Its 2014 now). They replaced the airbag. The airbag light is still on. My car is still acting possessed. Took it back. They still claimed they couldnt find anything. Took it back again. Oh they finally find something. We have to replace your air bag module. I come back. They order the airbag module. The lights are still going off. I come back again. They told me they ordered the wrong one. Well call you when we get the right one. They get the right one and replace it. It is 2015 now. The lights are still going off. Apparently when they replaced it they didnt finish resetting everything. So now they reset everything and tell me to come back and get it. I come back to get it and they drove all of the gas out of my car. It was on E! and on top of that the lights were still going off. I was so fed up I left in anger, not knowing what to do. Two weeks later I call again - make an appointment. I find out that Sheldon is no longer with Phil Smith Kia and now Charlie the service manager will be taking care of my car and it will absolutely be fixed this time. I drop the car off on Saturday 8/1. Was told I couldnt get a shuttle home while they worked on my car, When they told me it would take all morning, (Ive gotten a shuttle home every Saturday I was there before) I had to call for a ride and received not one phone call back when I called multiple times all day! After the 5th call, Oh sorry we didnt call you. Lets just give you a rental car and you can keep your car here. Days go by no phone calls. I have to call. Once I call, Kia corporate is involved at this point. I get several apologetic phone calls saying that they will make sure everything is ok, that my car is finally fixed and they will test drive it with me. Wednesday 8/5 I leave work early to pick up my car - call the dealership to let them know Im on my way. I got to the service center at 5:40 pm due to traffic. The service center closes at 6pm. No one was there! I walk into the dealership to speak with the receptionist. She informs me that Charlie left for the day because it was SLOW!!! WTF. I left work early to come here, have been late to work have taken days of time off to come to this dealership and no one is here! I am floored. Cassandra the receptionist informs me that she has no authority to release my car. I leave, because Im obviously upset, in tears at this point. I call Kia corporate. They say that there is nothing they can do for me but report this incident and that I need to talk to a general manager. I called for the general manager and was informed that he wasnt there and that I would have to call back in the morning. Then I tried to see if anyone could release the keys to my car. No one has the authority to do this. OK THOUGH IM PISSED I WILL WAIT to get my car that will not be given to me. MY CAR! I call in the morning and speak to West ** and explain to him my entire situation over the years. All he says is that he will check on it and call me back within the hour. Surprise! No phone call. I call again and was told he wasnt even in the building anymore. I called again to speak to Charlie with no avail. At this point Im being ignored and disrespected. I finally get a call back hours later with a sorry apology from the service manager and have still not heard from West **, the general manager who said he would call me back. I had to come up with the solution. I had to beg them to drive the car to me so that I could return my rental car and not be stuck. My car has all new tires, new brakes, a new battery, a new airbag - all done recently. Long story short. I will never buy another Kia in my life and I would advise no one else to either. The way that Ive been treating is appalling. I would like to give a round of applause to Phil Smith Kia for their crappy service. Good luck to the person that buys this car because Im getting rid of it. Thank you for reading. And thank you Kia for doing absolutely nothing but giving me headaches, excuses and more gray hairs!

Very disappointed with the KIA product. As a owner of a 2013 Kia Sorento w/ 32000 miles, I am now stuck with a 2013 goat shelter due to blown engine. KIA has failed to stand by warranty even though maintenance was done, but not by them. Just pushing blame onto service center where oil was changed. Engine blew with no warning -- no lights, no bells, no whistles -- just died on the side of road. Dealer says if they are responsible for anything it would be a blown light bulb in the check engine or low oil warning. Vehicle had traveled 2000 miles after oil change with no problem, so I find very hard to believe the service center failed to put in oil. Cost $110.00 to find out they were not going to cover under warranty. Initially bought vehicle due to warranty. Vehicle was misrepresented since I purchased. Gas mileage was misrepresented, equipment promised was misrepresented. Really feel like KIA Motors has given me the shaft. KIA MOTORS AMERICA = KMA = KISS MY **!!! I guess this is really what they are telling me.

I had made mention to the sales manager, Nick **, after I had purchased my KIA Soul (2013) new(!) that I had this rough idling when I am at a stop light and/or a stop sign. I was told to make an appointment with their Service Dept. which I did on Jan. 10th. At first, I was told they couldnt find the issue (just idling, not in gear), but I explained to them they need to be in gear, drive it, and at a light - this would follow in just a minute. They did say that it did do this, and did a diagnosis to see if they could pinpoint the issue. But having to see what KIA would come back with, Bert who did this, the Dealership Crown KIA Service Dept told Matt who contacted me, that this was a normal operation for this type of engine? And now, nothing, it seems to be direct on how this was going to end or follow up for a fix and/or repair? Case # is ** and the contact person Ive been dealing with is Melinda. The dealership now tells me there is nothing to do or repair according to KIA manufacturer. Ive driven other Souls at other dealership, and they dont do this? Im just asking to have this fixed, as this is not the way the car should run.

I will start off with what everyone is thinking when reading these... Yes, I am only writing this because I am angry and if my experience was just normal I would probably not write anything, but they earned this. I am currently going through the passing of my mom and all the challenges that come with it. I returned her leased car 2 months early, even though she has multiple letters offering her deals to bring her car back early because it is in demand. Then I receive the bill in the mail weeks later advising she owes $950 for returning the car early and $65 for wear and tear which just seems made up. I attempted to discuss with them, but they said they would not talk to me if I am not on the account. I got the email to send the proof of what happened and sent in what was necessary. I sent it 3 times without any action. I called and finally got the one helpful person to help me with submitting these documents. A few days later I got a letter saying sorry for my loss and asking me what I plan on doing with the car. How is this not a joke? They had the car for over a month. I submitted a complaint to Kia America and after passing the 48 hour waiting period, I heard nothing. I just submitted an updated complaint as I just got another letter in the mail for my mom, thanking her for returning her car and another bill, as if they never interacted with me before. I guess they are playing ignorant to get to the strategy of what one of their workers said, Why dont you just ignore it for 120 days and then it will just go to collections. Thank you Kia, thank you for absolutely no help and adding more stress to the most stressful and sad time of my life.

I spent days at the dealer working with a salesman. I called later on the last night and said I would I would take the car and be in morning to make the purchase. I went and got my bank loan approved and in order to be prepared. He called me and said to come later in afternoon because they were sending him to pick up a car; however, my car was getting serviced and detailed and would be ready for me when he gets back, so there was no need to come down now since he was being sent out of shop for a few hours. I said I can come in right now to take care of my end of paperwork since you just opened. He said later about 3 or 4 would work better, “Don’t worry I have your car being prepped for you and it will be definitely be ready for you and you can take it home right away.” I called a few times while he was taking care of his business and left messages at shop throughout the day. Then I get a phone call at 8:30 pm after I did all my end of paperwork and loan papers and get the loan for this same day purchase that says another salesman sold the car from under him while he was out doing business for the shop. Now the car isn’t there and I was never notified till 8:30 in the evening hours later from the morning I was supposed to get the car. Now the car is not there and I have my loan done—no car and no remorse, or compensation for their wrongdoings. My time and money I put into this by driving back and forth, doing the loans and insurance, research, credit checks and so much more to list right now. They should make good on another car in a big way and fast since I took off of work and holiday to make this transaction. That is not at all good customer satisfaction at all! What will they do to compensate me? And get me in the car, I want today! I have no car as of tomorrow and I am very unhappy with the Kia service and customer satisfaction attempt at this point. Proud owner of a KIA Stinger GT, so called top model of KIA (please go to last sentence if you want the short version). I have owned may new cars in my life and had never had so many issues with any of them but when I had issues I was serviced properly and got a courtesy car for the time of not having a brand new car. I understand that 3 year I would not class as brand new but anything between 1 and 2 year and less than 50,000 km I would. 7 year warranty is only as good as the service they provide and what does it help if I cannot drive my car because it is in repair because of manufacturing faults. A few things I came across from brand new, paint chips like glass. The smallest stone will leave a damage (compared to my previous car which I had for more than 4 years), in 2 month I had more stone chips than in 4 years with my Mazda 3 SPS25. Nothing changed in the way I use the car or where I drive it.When picking up the car brand new already had water mark stains which they pretend not to see till I pushed their nose down on it. The leather seats had already indent/loss of shape. When I had a puncture on the front tire (15ks) the service center advised that the tire would be repairable, no issue with the puncture but the manufacturer put a tire on which is unsafe and has a huge shaving inside (Continental Tires), this tires were not on stock and I had to replace 2 front tires to be safe again. The thread was not even halve used, I sent Continental a photo of the tire and they ask to bring the tire to them. Well normally I do not hang my broken tires around my neck and as this is a wear and tear item I was under the assumption that it would not be covered by warranty and left it with the tire service.Next day I called them to ask if they still have them but they were picked up ($500 down the drain). All this thinks I can live with after all this Stinger is a nice car and when you pay for top model you have to expect top problems (a little sarcasm :-). Moving on now having 25,000 km (15,500 miles) on the car and coming out to my garage to find the car dead as a 10 year old battery can be when used in a start stop system, non of this is applicable to my car and the winters are very soft in Australia. I blamed my selves for not being careful when cleaning my car (no one else is allowed to clean my cars, Im very fastidious with my car) and may have left something on overnight. Hard enough to find out that battery is in the boot and it is not accessible when electric is down. I called KIA service to be told battery is not a warranty item (wrong, their terms and conditions states 24 month, car is only 17 month old).Well in the end I called KIA roadside assist and they came very fast (kudos to them) and they replaced the battery without any bad comments. No charges, me happy camper again, till I went away for 2 days with my other car and the car was dead again. I had to go to work as I had very important meetings and interstate customer flew in for this meeting so I was unable to accommodate for them (not of your concern sorry back to the facts). My partner had to drop off the car after roadside assist managed to jump start the car, at KIA service they let her wait till the last courtesy car was gone and told her car needs to stay for investigation. She had to find her way home from a location which has no easy public transport and we just live 9 km away from the service center. The sales center is just up the road and they at least had the courtesy to drop her off at home (Kudos to them but feel also sorry for them as the service center is a shocker and what they try to make good service center will destroy). Now Im sitting on my desk at work waiting for a call 3 days after and not one call to keep me up to date. Meanwhile I researched the problem and within one hour I found out that it is actually a common problem on several cars already returned for that particular reason, only KIA will know how many but as Im very particular with my car I would assume there are many out their. Im sure they will fix the car in the end but this is not my issue, it is the fact not to react to a common problem and thoroughly investigate and communicate such huge problem (I classify an un-drivable car as useless) as it could be fixed quickly and may also preventive be fixed in a service (not going there either another dark chapter).Forgot to mention gear popping out when trying to quickly shift from park into drive or reverse when parking and trying to get out of harms way. You must be tired by now and I bring it to an end other you fall over dead. Moral is that a 7 year guaranty is only as good as the service and the car if it is fixed and you missing your car all the time you still give a damn about the 7 year. Not saying other manufacturer have no problems either but this is the first time in about 10 brand new cars I owned I have such issues. The car could have been the neck breaker for the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes but I think they cannot even reach the service and quality of Mazda. Yes I love that car that is why I swallowed all this crap so far but be aware when you buy a new car. What is more important a car who runs or a car who has 7 years warranty to be in the service center all the time and you left stranded without car. Good luck with your next car.

The electroluminescent speedometer isnt readable during daylight operation.
The electroluminescent speedometer isnt readable during daylight operation. This causes a very real safety situation when the driver has to take his eyes off the road for 3 or 4 seconds to figure out how fast he is going. The display is entirely programmable by Kia. They have chosen to show the speed by a small dark red marker against a black background. During daylight driving, you have to hunt for the marker. Put on sun glasses and it can take 5 or 6 seconds to find the marker. All that time you are not looking at the road.Simple program changes and software updates could easily solve this problem. - Make the marker longer and/or bigger; make the marker lighter red; make the marker white, or show the speed numerically in the center of the speedometer. All these could be driver selectable from the existing settings menu.Kia has been made aware of this problem since at least June 10, 2013 (case # ** customer service representatives Quinton and Robin). They are liable for accidents caused by this faulty product. The local Kia service people recognize the problem but only corporate Kia can fix it. Other than this safety issue, my $39,050 2014 Sorento Limited is perfectly assembled and excellently designed.Update: The local service people were told by Kia that they are working on the problem. That means Kia is selling vehicles with known safety issues.

Today I paid Kia for 2019 property taxes of a vehicle I do not own since August 31, 2018 when I traded it for a new Toyota car. I tried everything to clarify the issue but they just decided to send the tax assessment to a collection company. I moved from Ma to IL, changed plates, sold the car in 2018, etc and the still kept charging me property taxes for the vehicle. Before this, I had multiple issues with the Kia financing department to the point that I had to get the general manager of the Kia dealer in Massachusetts to fix the issues with finance. Kia Sportage is one of the best cars I ever owned but I will never deal with Kia again due to the ineptitude of their Financial Dept.

Kia produces an modern attractive array of vehicles at a lower price point than its competitors. My Cadenza is loaded with safety features and the latest technology available. It was priced below similarly featured imports in its class. Reliability is weakness for Kia. My 2 year old Cadenza has been serviced 3 times for major repairs. The warranty is excellent and covered all my cost for service, but could not compensate me for my inconvenience. Resale value is another factor that hurts Kia. Similar Toyotas, Hondas, and Subarus are superior in holding their value. Kias just dont seem to age well. Based on features and overall cost, I would recommend leasing a Kia for 3 years. I would not recommend buying The Kia Cadenza.

2010 kia forte - door locks open automatically when stopped. I have had this issue for about a month now. The first time I took it to my kia dealership they said they couldnt re-enact the locks opening on their own and to bring it back when it was doing this. The issue is when I stop, the car is in drive, or reverse, the automatic door locks open...You cant manually or by pushing the button, get them to relock. I feel this is a real safety issue. We took the car back on a morning when the locks had just opened on their own and went straight to the dealerships and spoke again to the service manager, who sat in the car with my husband on dealership property and drove no more than 10 feet, locks opened... They drove a few more feet and they opened again. So the service manager had witnessed the problem himself which he said they needed to have happen to verify what I was telling them. He was supposed to at that time reach out to kia corporate to see if there were any other issues of this type on file or if there were any modules about the locks. We were told on the day the service mgr. witnessed the problem they didnt have time to fix it that day and to bring it back in a couple of weeks and leave it overnight so they could check it first thing in the am. This brings us to today. They have had my car all day and the tech is saying he cant recreate the problem. I dont know why he has to when the service manager has told him the problem. They hadnt done any checks for shorts or faults. I called kia corporate and spoke to customer care there who did call the dealership to see what they had done as there was no record of the dealership logging a record with corporate as they were supposed to do two weeks ago. The service manager wasnt in today. They called him at home and he told them what he witnessed. At that point they said they were going to check for shorts. They had my car all day and are still saying they cant recreate the problem. Apparently tomorrow the service manager will be in and he will try to recreate the problem and were told I want this resolved by end of day tomorrow. I told them I want them to reimburse me for the gas they are using up driving around in my car to diagnose a problem their service manager had already seen. I dont see why, upon the service managers word that there is a problem with the locks, that they dont just replace the door locks. So they have my car for another day, for which I am inconvenience. If they dont fix the problem tomorrow, I will be contacting the COO of Kia Canada and registering my extreme displeasure with this experience. This was my first kia and now it will be my last. The customer service is awful and it appears they just dont want to fix the problem because its still under warranty.

I bought 2005 Kia Sedona 3 years ago. My first year was just minor problems. Second year it got worst, driver window didnt work, 3 passengers doors knob broken, air conditioner didnt work and part by part keep breaking. By beginning of my 3rd year I have place almost every single part except the engine. Its the worst car I ever own. I have to spend money fixing this car every week. I have to spend 50 to 70 percent of my income to fix it for the past 6 months. Im broke because of the car. I tried to trade it in but dealer wont take it. They told me nobody want to buy Kia. And today as my mechanic working on replacing an alternator. Im sitting here expressing my frustration and it will be the last thing I will fix. I will tow it away if anything else break. I will never buy Kia again.

Leased the 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid car on Sunday and drove home 10+ miles.
Leased the 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid car on Sunday and drove home 10+ miles. Odometer had 15 miles on it. Left the car in the garage for two days and attempted to drive it early Wednesday. Backing out of the garage and was steering onto the street when the power steering warning light came on and steering was very difficult and noisy (growling) - vibrating while turning the wheel itself. Pulled back into the garage and all warning lights came on. Shut the car off and retried several times. Waited with the car idling. Battery warning light came on. Let the car sit and looked in the manual for answers. Tried backing up again and all the warning lights came on again, and steering was again very difficult. Drove back into the garage. Called the roadside assistance number and the flatbed truck took the 2017 KIA Niro EX back to the dealership. The tow driver had much trouble getting the car out of the garage and maneuvered onto the flatbed. This is a serious safety issue to us because the car could barely steer. Received call from service at KIA Cerritos saying power steering motor had to be replaced and that Korean engineers were flying out to look at the car personally. Still do not have a car, but we are in limbo now about the brand itself and are looking again at Toyota.KIA of Cerritos - a very short description of our encounter before and after. Salesman said we could have leather seats in the base model, that it takes about an hour. When we went through the agreement, he instead was selling us a 35k vehicle. I asked, how did we go from 22.5k to 35k. He wouldn’t show us the numbers through the whole process. We were very pressured to take this vehicle, and the salesman kept referring back to a ‘pre-delivery’ inspection, which seemed odd - like something was wrong. Keep in mind, this is the shortest version. After the KIA Niro steering failure and the tow truck delivered the vehicle, I had to sit through several more interviews at the Cerritos dealership, being shuffled around from office to office all afternoon, much like the initial sales day. A Head of Sales man told me the General Manager said no to my request to return the car and unwind the deal of less than 72 hours. I was going to just leave, and then I went in to confront the supposed General Manager. He said, No, Im not the General Manager, Im the Service Dept. Manager. Then he took me in to see Joe **, the real General Manager of KIA of Cerritos. The conversation with the Cerritos dealership General Manager, Joe **, was very short. He simply said he wont buy-back because its now a used car with 30 miles on it. He said he wont call back the DMV title in our name.I left the dealership and the car, which I still hadnt driven myself, in the service dept. to be fixed. When I got home I called a ‘lemon law’ consultant. He was very knowledgeable and said the dealership wouldnt have filed with DMV yet as its too early and that its usually done weekly or monthly. Remember we had the car less than 72 hours. It was late Sunday when we drove the car into our garage, and the next day was a holiday, President’s Day. So, that left Tuesday, and I attempted to drive the car Wednesday at 4am. I had also called Kia Motors Finance and they told me they couldnt find the VIN number - we had no account on file yet. In their opinion, there was no real reason for us not to be able to walk away and find another car. And of course after this, another dealership. We are still in limbo about our lease with KIA and the return of our brand new 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid.

I bought a 2012 Hyundai Sonota from them. They told me they just got the car in and went through it thoroughly. Two weeks later the motor seized up! Come to find out the motor was a junkyard motor!! Of course they claim to not know this but if they went through it then how did they not know? Lies!! So I went back and they said all they could do is charge me $3000 for a new motor (which they said was a deal but Hyundai only wanted $2500). Lies!! Or give the car back and they keep my down payment and first payment!! WHAT!! Sales manager was a complete jerk!! Told me they keep the down payment to cover their costs because I blew up the motor in his car!! You sell me a junk car for $8000 and I should cover what they lost! Wow!! If I could give less than 1 star I would.

I brought the car to the dealer with what appeared to be a wheel bearing problem, 98,300 miles. It had been a great car. I followed all maintenance according to the service manual. They called me back 2 days later and said it was internal transmission damage, manual transmission. When was the last time somebody heard of a modern manual trans failing? After getting the runaround for almost a month, they tell me that I should have been following the severe service schedule because I live in New York. The car has had an easy life, well cared for and garaged. So, Kia warranty isnt worth the paper it was written on in the manual. The 10/100 powertrain warranty is a scam. Warning, if you have a Kia, ignore the service schedule and follow the severe service duty schedule. That way, they can deny your claim later because it was used in severe service.

I bought my in July 2018. Have taken the car to the Kia dealerships 6 times and to no avail. They will not fix the car because they say on the computer that they hook it up to cannot find anything wrong. The weekend that I bought it I immediately called them to let them know what was happening. When you put the car on ECO after 10 miles it starts to move to the 3/4 mark on the gauge, there is a ton of white smoke out of the exhaust and smells of gas, also the sticker on the car says 24/28/36. I get 13 miles to the gallon in town and Lexington, Ky is not that big which I get at the highest is 322 miles per tank, also they come with an 18.5 gallon tank but on empty with the light on I get 13.5 gallons per fill up. They have told me, There is 5 gallons in reserve and also youre not going to see a big difference until the 10,000 mile mark, which we all know is pure crap. Do not ever buy a Kia. It would not let me give it zero stars.

I have had 4 Kias now, 2012 Rio and 2014 Soul both 4 years, 2017 Sportage and 2014 Optima. No problems with any of them but we are low mileage drivers. A word of warning, there are recalls on the 2011 to 2014 4 cylinder engines for failure. Also, get your oil changed at the Kia dealer, their filters are very good and have a unique property of allowing oil to pass thru on start up. Do not use 5w20 in over 60F weather, its a government scam to get better gas mileage, use the owners manual to determine what viscosity you should use, during the winter I let them put in their 5w20, during the summer I insist on 5w30. I hope not to have the problems I have read about. Good luck.

I have just bought a Kia Sorento 2018 this month. What I want the public to learn here is not to repeat the same mistake that I made at the dealership. I was actually happy to buy the Sorento, but when I signed the paperworks, I didn’t pay too much attention to the details. All I had in mind was I was gonna pay the amount that me and the salesman agreed on. I did not catch an additional fee for EXTENDED WARRANTY. This was not even explained to me. I was not aware of it. It costed me $2700, and since this was added to the loan amount. It would basically cost me more. Now when I look at my new Kia Sorento, I feel ashamed of myself for buying Kia. I was just foolish!!! God knows how I could forgive myself.

It has been two months since I turned in my lease. At the time of turning in my lease, I was informed by the dealership that KIA MOTOR FINANCE would assist in creating an installment payment plan. Well, I was misinformed, and KIA MOTOR FINANCE is not willing to help a customer who recently got another lease from Kia. My wifes contract is coming up as well, and I was thinking of leasing another KIA vehicle, but after being just notified that KIA MOTOR FINANCE is not willing to assist with any payment plan and is ready to report it to the credit bureau, I see what type of COMPANY they are running. All they care is ruining someones credit who is willing to pay the debt off. Note, I am still making my monthly payments and have since I turned the car in January of this year. In conclusion, KIA FINANCE is not willing to work with anyone, and all they care is about their necks. Thanks, Kia for helping out a customer and a VET.

I purchased an 09 Borrego in January. About 3 weeks after I got it, it just dies when I was rolling to a stop. I thought, Maybe I just didnt give it enough gas. Weird, who knows? Then it happened again in a drive-thru, a few times at a stop light, chugged while I was going uphill and downhill and died while I was driving on I-25. I was nearly plowed by numerous vehicles (More than one person in my family experienced this while driving). So, we took it in. The dealership acted like I was out of my mind. Drove the car for a few hundred miles and called and told me they couldnt get it to act up. I explained, at length, that nothing happened before it died or after so there was nothing they could do to replicate the problem. They had us pick it up. My husband drove the Borrego home on back roads as our daughter was following him and she doesnt drive in traffic. They never drove over 45 mph. The next day, I drove to work. Halfway there, the SUV starts shimmying. I drove back roads home. My husband figured it might be me feeling it more because I had been driving another car. SO, we hopped in and started driving. About 15 miles down the road, the Borrego shook too hard to proceed. My son switched vehicles with us and when he was backing the Borrego in - shocker- IT DIED. So, back o the dealer it went. They said the shaking was from mud on the tire assemblies (I found out in this convo that the mechanic had driven it hard over bumpy roads to see if it was a wiring issue). Again, they acted like I was nuts, but gave me a borrower car. They offered to clean wires to the ECM and give it back, but cannot explain why it dies. I refused to take it back. They had an engineer from Kia out and offered to put a special computer on it so the next time it does it, they can tell why. All that has to happen is for someone to drive the thing and pray they dont get killed the next time it happens. They told me nobody had heard of the problem before, yet I found complaint upon complaint about this happening in Borregos and various other Kia models. So, then today I get a call from the service manager at the dealership. He asked to drive my car over the weekend (I hesitate to let them drive all over as I had to pay a lot of money for a mileage limited warranty which they are eating away at the mileage of). Little did I know until I got a call from the dealership manager that the service guy was planning to drive the Borrego all the way to Kansas (a state and numerous hundreds of miles away). The manager then informed me that to trade out of the Borrego, I would need several thousand dollars down because of the length of time in this vehicle and the depreciated value! I have had the POS 5 months! He told me he remembered me having to roll negative equity into the loan on the Borrego - huge joke - I didnt trade anything in on it! I was asked if it had lights flicker before it died, um-NO and I would have said so. Did it happen while braking? Again - NO and I would have said so. Bottom line, Kia has several models that die without warning and nobody seems to know how to fix it. It is dangerous. My husband asked the dealership manager how hed feel putting his loved ones in this vehicle knowing the car could stop running and someone could be killed? His response was Of course I wouldnt want to. Why would you even go there and say something like that? Well, KIA and dealership, wed ask because we face it every time we get into the defective vehicle you manufactured!

To start things off, I just want to say that I WILL NEVER purchase another
To start things off, I just want to say that I WILL NEVER purchase another Kia. Back in November of 2019, I hit a deer and had to have somebody work done at my local body shop. When that was completed, I had to take it to Kia of Lincoln, NE to have the new module that was put in by the body shop reprogrammed. What was supposed to be a simple fix, Kia of Lincoln ended up having my vehicle for almost a month and a half. They also had to fly a tech in from another state to figure out what was wrong with it and why the codes wouldnt clear. They hardly ever communicated with me on what was going on and when Id call in to get an update, they would have to call me back or say that they were still trying to figure out the problem. When I finally got it back, it seemed to function as it should. However, that didnt last long though. There was a several times where I would have sensor lights come on and the vehicle would act up. The most recent occurrence was when I was driving home from work and a bunch of sensor lights came on, my cruise control quit working and I had to pull over on the side of the interstate. I ended up having to shut my vehicle off and when I started it back up, it wouldnt shift out of park. I had to have it towed to a Kia dealership in Grand Island, NE the following day to see if they could diagnose the problem. They werent able to duplicate the vehicle not being able to shift out of park, but they did find that the module that was supposed to be reprogrammed when Kia of Lincoln had it, was never done correctly. This is why the sensor lights kept coming on. I ended up having a bill that I was told that I was responsible for since the issue was not covered under warranty due to it being related to the accident. I reached out to the dealership in Lincoln several times and they basically told me that they did everything correctly and that there wasnt anything else that they could do. This is when I decided to contact Kia Consumer Services to see if they could help me out. I explained what was going on to them and was told that Id get a call back the next day. A few days passed by and I still hadnt heard anything. I ended up calling back a little over a week later to find out that my case had been turned over to someone else. No one bothered to let me know once again. I reached out to them again a few days later to get some answers and was told by the person that I spoke with that it wasnt their problem, so I needed to contact my insurance company I had at the time of the accident. He also hung up on me after he proceeded to say that he wasnt going to argue with me. So, I contacted them see if they would help me out. I finally received an answer back and they agreed to cover the bill after they had already paid for the vehicle to be fixed correctly the first time when Kia of Lincoln had it. I think the part that irritates me the most is, the dealership that didnt fix it correctly the first time wouldnt even help me out and they are the same dealership that I purchased my vehicle from. Its going on a month now and Im still without my vehicle. Ive had to drive other peoples to get to and from when this could of easily been taken care of within a matter of a few days.

KIA makes a good car, but your experience with them as a company will be TERRIBLE. KIA delayed (by several months) applying the payoff amount to my old Sorento I sold to them, after I purchased a new one. This ruined my credit because KIA falsely claimed I did not turn in the car and never paid the last payment. This was all lies that they sent to the credit reporting agency. Customer service only transferred me to collections -on a car KIA purchased from me months ago. No one cared to listen or help. I resorted to a consumer lawyer and will hopefully get this resolved. After I involved a lawyer, I started getting letters from KIA in the mail stating I owed money from leased KIAs I had years and years ago. I will never buy from KIA ever again. They will take your money and keep taking, and when they do not apply it to your account, they turn you in to collections.

One of our customers at our shop has a 100k mile warranty on her vehicle and her Valve Body went bad at 94000 miles. It is a part that should be covered under warranty. She has kept up on all of the maintenance on her vehicle per the warranty booklet and has records to prove it. Peak Kia was awful to deal with. They suggested replacing the Transmission and that it wasnt going to be covered under warranty. The grand total was 4000 dollars. The assistant service manager was a complete jerk. He stated that if she didnt have 3 Transmission services at 30k, 60k, and 90k then her warranty was void. I read the warranty book a few times to make sure I wasnt missing anything. She was supposed to at 90k for normal driving conditions. The book stated at 30k and 60k the Transmission should be serviced if the car is driven in severe conditions. Her car is not. We have been trying to get this covered since June. I have spoke to the corporate office in July and still havent received any word from them. Completely unacceptable! She has called multiple dealers as well as corporate and has only heard back today just to tell her they are still working on it. Come on, seven months. Here is what I have gathered from the situation. Kia could care less about their customers. Kia would rather lose a customer than please a customer.
