I bought Blizzak winter tires from Bridgestone for the 2 time in 3 years. This last time I had an issue with one of the tire after 3 weeks. It was deflating. I stopped at the BMW garage in Oakville and they had to replace my tire. I wrote to Bridgestone from their website. They never got my request and realized when I called that did not even know where the web inquiries went!!! They basically wash their hands of any support. You spend $3,000 in tires in 3 years and they wont stand behind their products for $300!!! I will never buy any Bridgestone tires again, not because of their products but because of the lack of vision and consumer care from the company. I gave them an 8 on 10 for their products but a 1 on 10 for their consumer care service.

The price was still too high compared to Market so I turned the car in, terminated the lease and paid $375 disposition fee. Now the same car is listed at 23k CPO. I approached the dealer to buy it but they refused. According to the dealer BMW and financials services are not allowing them to sell the car at the listed price 23k to me. I would have to pay 27k. The dealer is completely transparent about bmw’s poor practices. According to the dealer BMW and FS don’t want to expose this practice as all previous customers will demand a price adjustment. BMW FS is extremely aggrogrant and says it’s an issue BMW NA and dealership need to address. Dealership is willing to sell if I register at a different address. BMW NA will not respond. The brand is untrustworthy. Period.

After buying the car overall I have driven the car for about a month. 2-3 weeks ago (that means I had the car less than month and half at the moment) I noticed that the driver seat upholstery has started cracking. The crack was very minor at the beginning and now apparently it is bigger (since very often I vacuum and clean my car I notice little things very easy...). I scheduled an appointment at Pacific BMW (BMW of Glendale, CA) and even I didnt think that I will stock in such situation since the mileage is less than 50,000 and the car is still within warranty and plus additionally I paid extra $7,000 for extended warranty. When I took the car to dealer the service adviser told me that the upholstery is not covered by warranty. Even counting the fact that my car has heated seats (heating elements in upholstery) still BMW doesnt cover such issues and to fix it will cost a lot of money since they have to replace the seat (OUT OF MY POCKET). No way! Its joke! I called BMW customer relations and explained that I just bought the car about month and half ago, that this 2013 528i is my 5th BMW and in the past I had 325i 525i, 328i, 5XX (dont even remember). The girl told me that she will try to do something and will call me back. About a week later received call from Supervisor or Manager of customer relations Kayla (sorry if misspelled) and she told me that BMW willing to cover 25% of the cost. Lets say if the cost of seat and labor is $2000 then they cover only $500!!! And for the car that I owned only month and half within warranty I have to pay $1500. So it was the second heart attack...I explained all the situation her that spending several tens of thousand, within warranty, customer for life... She said that all they willing to do now and she said if Im not going to do the job for 25% she will notify the service manager of the dealer that I change my mind. No way! Its totally rip off! You just barely sold the car to me and dont care about your customers and the facts. NEVER another BMW! I will tell my story all my friends and relatives and let them to decide if they want to face my situation and deal with BMW.

I got it for a good price at the auction, but it was an as is sale. Immediately after purchase, I noticed an intermittent clunk and bounce in the transmission/motor area about 1 second after startup. I took it to the dealer, and they told me the fix was a software issue for which I paid $340 for. Well, that didnt work. The repair rep told me there was no other fix, that it would be a waste of money looking for the problem, and to live with it till it broke completely. That was comforting.Then the other day, the radiator reservoir blew up which cost me another $290, because it happened in the middle of nowhere and the only repair shop knows that. I knew the windshield washer pump wasnt working, now the fluid is leaking out and the the washer fluid low light is permanently on. To fit it, you have to take the right tire and wheel well liner off. Another $200 fix. There is a loud clicking noise from the motor which seems to come from a design flaw in the head which doesnt allow oil to get to the lifters fast enough. Ive only had this POS for 3 weeks. I cant wait to see what failing item sucks my wallet dry next. Ive never had roadside assistance insurance with any of my cars, and never needed it, but with BMW, its a must. Definitely wont be buying a money sucking BMW again.

The oil light came on, smoke was coming out of the tail pipe upon turning car on, and the car also idles funny (jugging). The service technicians and manager have given many reasons. The car only has 34,000 km driven for just under 4 years. To date, the car is still giving me problems. The local BMW SAID they contacted BMW Corporation for goodwill and help, but to no avail... the car problems still persist. I just had regular car service. I do not drive the car so as not to aggravate the problem. I felt that I was spending $$$ for quality and good name. What do I do now??? Not sure! Are there any other BMW owners having this or similar problems? Any suggestions on what to do???

We’ve dealt with the typical drivetrain malfunction issues, which seems BMW techs aren’t well trained on how to fix. Each time that the vehicle would be picked up from service, within the day the same or new issue would occur. We even tried going to a different BMW dealership to see if we had better luck and my service advisor advised that I get rid of the car and there wasn’t anything else they can do. I finally contacted BMW North America and opened up a PUMA case. They claim to give me an update every week, yet I never get any updates. Bring the vehicle is t financed through BMW financial, we’ve been stuck having to make payments for a vehicle that isn’t in any operating conditions.In fact, twice the vehicle had heavy smoke and started to heat up, where the smoke was going into the cabin. I was driving with my son, who was scared for his life as we thought the vehicle was about to catch on fire. Being we were driving on the highway, it would be some time till I could pull over to safety. BMW NA asked us for our financials and contract for the vehicle purchase, but nothing has been done. We have officially been consistently in a loaner for over 5 months. I’m sick of it, it’s not fair to us, yet we have to pay the price. We have a 2016 Mercedes S550 and it’s our 3rd one, and no issues. We also had a 2012 BMW 750 and similar issues. I’m giving BMW 2 weeks to make this right.

The right rear motor mount bracket screws (the four bolts broke off), the engine is not sitting properly and the transmission is making a discernible noise. I only drive on city streets and highways. I am not an off-road driver and this vehicle has not been involved in any type of accident. The BMW warranty covered my vehicle to 50,000 miles. I did not purchase the extended warranty (maintenance warranty offered by the dealership) as it covered nothing. I am afraid that the engine will fall out of the vehicle, causing bodily injury or maybe even a fatality. I noticed that you already have one complaint about this same issue. Please help me. I am not asking for you to replace my vehicle, just fix it to where I can drive it again without fear.

When I called about another problem with the car, was told the cars warranty had elapsed. I told them the car was warrantied until 2012. The dealer told me the car was bought in 2005 even though it is a 2006 model and that it had expired. I informed them that the sales person told me the car was warrantied until 2012 and not 2011. They will not honor any warranties. Since purchasing the car, I have been in the shop for Thermostat problem, lighting problem, fluid leak problem from transmission and coolant, steering column problem, etc. I called the dealer and National BMW and nobody will help me. The transmission now has a warning light. If I replace transmission it will cost $5k to $7K.

Next week took back to dealer to get it checked to get it fixed. At the end of the day dealer called me saying they could not find any trouble with the car and they compare the noise with brand new 2014 BMW X3 and the noise is normal. Took the car back home and after week the ticking noise is still constant and now I can hear it on the upper first floor window of my home. What a disappointment!! I will take back to dealer as I did research on internet and found that this kind of trouble lot of other people have also. I have 2012 Honda CRV and it still runs very silky smooth and cost half of this BMW X3. If BMW dealer cannot fix it, I will fight till they buy back it from me as this is nothing but a lemon. No more BMW in my car shopping ever!!

X5 gas tank may explode. As per dealer, the tank vent valve may malfunction and cause a build up of pressure in the gas tank. Since this pressure need to be relieve then the gas tank ruptures/leak. This happened to my vehicle in March and was misdiagnosed by the dealer. Leak reoccurred in the exact spot of a new tank 2 months after replacing, resulting in damage to DMTL and charcoal canister. Dealer refused to repair without charging for labor and NA BMW claims it’s an issue between the dealer and myself.

Although this post is long, I please urge you to read through and leave comments and share to strengthen my case against BMW. I own 2010 535I GT. Summary of my experience: I had initially gone to BMW to repair a faulty water pump, where they should have also discovered the other issues they later diagnosed during their 27-point inspection. These issues were overlooked and I had to bring my car back to get re-diagnosed, where they estimated $5,700 in repairs. After the repairs were done, a new problem arose, and funny enough, the new problem is the result of them fixing the initial issue, which they still have the nerve to charge me to fix. Read the full story below:I first noticed an issue with my car 2 months ago when my engine started overheating on the freeway. As a result I towed my car to McKenna BMW in Norwalk, CA where I paid close to $800 to repair a faulty water pump. Close to two weeks later I found another issue. This time the problem was the headliner on the sunroof. I brought my car to BMW of Ontario where a full inspection was done. The diagnosis: replace the headliner and repair leaks in valve cover gasket and oil filter housing. Total cost estimate for repairs: $5,700. After making a fuss, they agreed to a 25% discount and since I had guests coming in from out of country, I okayed the repairs.After that I started checking reviews online. I noticed that quite a few people had complaints about headliner malfunction. One was at 14,000 miles. Had I been using my sunroof, I would have probably discovered this problem sooner and would have been a part of warranty. I do think it is a faulty part and manufacturing defect. After I picked up my car, I got on the freeway and heard noise from the roof again. Stopped by home real quick to pick something up. As soon as I turned off the engine, there was a big squeaking noise coming from the engine. Took the car back and had a test drive with the service manager on duty, and he concurred with the two noise issues and promised to fix them. A week later the service advisor contacted me saying the noise from the roof was fixed. However the squeaking noise was a result of repairing the gaskets. Explanation was that when there was a leak in gasket, the air had an escape route.After replacing the gaskets, the air had nowhere to escape, thus making the noise. To eliminate the noise I would have to pay to replace the valve cover. Beware: If you are buying a brand new BMW, there would be a squeaky noise from the engine because the gaskets would be new and the air would have nowhere to escape (lol). I contacted BMW corporate to explain my situation and to be refunded for my repairs, waste of time and inconvenience. They dismissed my claim and said there was nothing they could do since I no longer had warranty. I definitely feel profiled as a woman, and I feel like the BMW dealership preyed on my lack of mechanical knowledge to squeeze me for every cent. This was a truly exhausting and upsetting customer service experience. I expect much more from a luxury car company.

Total repair cost so far: - At 47k miles - transfer case cover failed. - Cost to repair - $7,500. - At 73k miles - Head display unit, where you see navigation & radio etc, froze and failed. - Cost to repair - $2,200. - At 73k miles - Engine valve cover gasket started leaking oil and the Sterling BMW told me that it is at 8 on a scale of 10 to leak fire and catch fire. - Cost to repair - $1,000. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS SO FAR - CLOSE TO $11,000 = CLOSE TO 25% OF NEW CAR PURCHASE PRICE.I have in my life never ever seen 25% repair costs in first 75k miles on any car I have driven. Highly disappointed and speechless. Thought this was a high end, high quality German built car. I called Sterling dealer, they said they acknowledge the repair price tag and agree that BMW North America should do something about it. So call BMW North America. They said I should have bought extended warranty - Ha!

I am writing in regards to a failure by BMW to honor their warranty for my Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (SULEV). I first purchased my 2003 BMW 325is (SULEV) with approximately 116,000 miles on the vehicle. As with any used car, I was sure to do my research before committing to buy. I was aware it contained a M56 engine rather than a M54, as well as the fact it utilized a considerably expensive stainless-steel fuel tank opposed to the plastic one found in a regular e46 in accordance to its emission minimization. I also noticed that stated clearly in the Service & Warranty booklet, the car was still under a specific California Emissions Warranty which, If any emission related part on your vehicle is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by BMW NA. This is your emission control system defects warranty... for 15 years or 150,000 miles whichever occurs first. Considering that emissions related parts would be covered for another 34,000 miles, the car ran like brand new, and it was a beautifully spotless silver e46. For $6,500, I could not resist nor did I have anything to fear. How ignorant I was. The car performed flawlessly with no problems until it reached about 125,000 miles when suddenly, out of the blue, the car would not start. I had my trusted mechanic inspect the car and he informed me that the problem was a failed fuel pump, which could not be replaced without replacing the entire fuel tank, reason being that they are in actuality attached as a single part.Recalling that this is under the specific emissions warranty, I had the car diagnosed at my local dealer, Life Quality BMW located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. It was confirmed that the problem was in fact a fuel pump failure, and that the entire fuel tank would require replacement. I was quoted approximately $11,500 including parts, labor, and taxes. I informed the sales associate that I am not liable for such a repair, and that this particular part is under a 150,000/15-year warranty. He chuckled to himself and stated no such warranty exists. He had never heard of such a claim, and even went as far as consulting his manager, Nick **, to be completely certain. I informed him I would return with valid proof, as well as have BMW USA contact the dealership directly. With a grin he replied, Good luck. I hope you find the answers youre looking for. I phoned BMW USA where a customer relations representative confirmed my car was in fact under warranty, and that he would contact the manager of the dealership. I then returned to the dealership, Service & Warranty booklet in hand, and requested to speak to the service manager, Robert **. At first, he printed out the quote for repairs and ensured me that my car was not under warranty. After showing him page 38 of the 325is service and warranty booklet available publicly on BMW USAs own website, he seemed to suddenly experience a magical awakening and did not continue to insist that the warranty was construed by my imagination. Instead, after consulting the manager, Mr. **, he claimed the dealership has no problem performing the service under warranty as long as they have direct written consent from BMW USA. Although someone had contacted the dealership previously, Mr. ** denied that this ever happened. I stepped outside and contacted BMW USA on the spot, and had a representative contact the dealership. The representative informed me that he did get in contact with Nick **, who stated he would have research done to make sure the car was actually under warranty, where then they would contact me directly. I received a phone call two days later informing me the car is not under warranty and I will be charged $50 a day for storage fees if I do not pay for the service.I have now been somewhat blackmailed. My car has now been at this dealership for approximately 2 weeks, and I have contacted BMW USA as well as the dealership that both persist to regard one another as a higher power capable of making the decision on my car. When I attempted to contact BMW USA, they now informed me that my case is under investigation. I have run out of patience and am extremely frustrated with the disorganized, dilettante service I have experienced. This dishonesty is the exact reason laws such as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 are in existence and the exact reason I have decided to put this matter in the hands of the Supreme Court. I have taken steps to initiate legal action against both BMW USA as well as my local dealer, Nick **. I do not feel I should be punished for driving an environmentally friendly vehicle.

A service tech would come out, look at the light, open the hood, add oil and then reset the computer in the car and tell me that I am all set to go. The car now has 20,000 miles and on April 19th the oil indicator light came on and an error message displayed on the screen that read drivetrain malfunction. I immediately contacted my dealership as the car had a horrible shake to it and the message indicated to drive the vehicle at low speeds. I brought it in for service on April 21st which was Monday. The dealership contacted me Tuesday telling me that my engine was damaged beyond repair and it was my fault because I had not taken the car in at 10,000 miles. He then told me that the cars computer would have pinged the dealership and then I would have received a phone call to schedule a service. I told him that a call never happened and he searched on his computer and to his surprise the car indeed never pinged them and he agreed I never received the call yet I was setup for that service. He then said the car however pinged them on April 19th for a service but never prior to that validating what I had been telling him the entire time. He said I should have had an indicator light come on and the car should have pinged but he could not find a record of it. I told him that every time the indicator light came on, I brought it in and his service techs came out and took care of it and sent me on my way. I then asked him when I brought it in when the lights came on why did his service techs not know that car needed to stay for service and he replied to me that they were not trained for that, that they were only trained for top offs. I have done everything that I was supposed to do. I always brought the car in when the lights came on yet apparently the dealership doesnt train their service techs to fully understand what the vehicle needs. Now I am left with almost a $1300 monthly payment on a vehicle that has no motor and a dealership that doesnt want to take responsibility.

The vehicle currently has around 14,000 miles on it. I took the vehicle in yesterday because it appeared there was a problem with the battery. My husband received a phone call today from BMW in Elk Grove, advising that the battery needs to be replaced and is not covered under the warranty because I dont drive it enough (driver error). The price of a new battery is $453 (he claims this is with a 15% discount) and the battery must be purchased from a BMW dealership because it could create a problem for the computer if purchased from an auto parts store. The BMW representative stated that it would have been covered had it been a defective battery, but the computer states that I dont drive it enough. He stated that I will need to keep it on a trickle charger when not in use. I have kept up on all of my maintenances and services, which were completed at BMW and not once did a BMW representative advise me that I could be running into a problem with the battery because of my low mileage. At this point I am just livid that I have babied my vehicle. I purchased an extended warranty and I have to come out of pocket $453. At this point I have no choice but to pay the $453; however, I feel that this should have been covered by the warranty and not been viewed as operator error.

After an attempt (not knowing what that attempt was) to fix this car the dealer and BMW complaint division refuses to fix it or admit to a design FLAW. Has anyone else experienced this problem. My ADVICE to anyone thinking of buying a BMW convertible - check this out closely or shy away. They will not attempt to fix it nor admit it is a Design FLAW. It is REALLY inconvenient to drive in the cooler weather. Once the radio shuts down the heater must be turned off and returned to cool to continue listening to the radio. Never had this problem with any other convertibles. I will be selling this car!

The resolution they suggested is that I purchase new door handles plus the cost of programming comfort access because the trim pieces are not sold separately. ($500+ Per Handle.)After, I have spoken to BMW independent of the dealer and they are asking for more pictures. I dont understand this since they already have them. I conclude that the trim pieces have fallen off due to a problem with the adhesive not performing to specs (The trim piece itself is made of plastic with tape strip on the inner side). I am very disappointed that as a loyal customer, I would be dismissed in this fashion. I just spent over $60k for this vehicle.

In other words, beyond the superb engine and suspension system, BMWs are lemons, awaiting the unwary.The car is now undergoing its annual six months downtime between major repairs to the aforementioned parts. Now, add a failed transmission to engine seals, water pumps, radiators, and the random electrical failures.

I even had to bring it back to Kuni BMW four times because the DEF warning like kept coming on. They would say, “Oh, we just filled the DEF, it is fine.” Lo and behold, once my warranty had expired, they found the problem. Now, the latest issue, I have brought it in regularly for its oil changes, etc. The service engine light keeps coming on. Then the engine malfunction light. Took this beauty in today and guess what? Now it has a Carbon Build Up problem. After doing some research online today, it seems many 335d are having terrible carbon build up problems. Well guess what, no warranty and now an additional $2,800 to repair and 10 days in the shop. Seriously??? It seems to me, for the amount of money spent on BMW their cars would be more maintenance free, however, I feel this is the game of BMW. They know these engines have widespread problems and yet they do not protect the consumer. I am so sorry I bought this beautiful car now!!! Poor decision not to believe the terrible reviews. My car is just slightly out of warranty. You think they would extend my warranty in a good faith effort to keep a valued client, however, they could care less. Very disappointed!!! Do your due diligence before investing in a BMW. As my friend put it to me, he has diesel vehicles with over 100,000 miles on it without a carbon build up issue. I feel like I am going to file a lawsuit against BMW at this point. There must be a Lemon Law.

After being given an appointment 3 weeks after I asked for one, I was told that it was a seat motor issue and that the car thinks there is a passenger in the seat and will activate even if none is sitting there in an accident. The repair would cost over $1500. I rejected the offer but asked if they could take off the warning light. They said that it was impossible, that only if they repaired it could that happen.As I was waiting for the return of my car, they told me that now my passenger window wouldnt go up (although not even 20 minutes earlier I had raised it). I was told that the part was a window motor and it would cost $180. Since I had no choice, but found it highly coincidental, I agreed. They kept the car, but did give me a loaner, for 3 days. When I went to pick it up, they had charged me for 2 diagnosis, and $250 for the part. When I said I was told it was $180 the gentleman told Thats the price. $250. I paid.When I got in the car magically the airbag warning had disappeared. I then contacted BMW Canada complaint department. Then I received a phone call from the service department asking me about my experience. I told him and he said the manager would call me back that day. He never did. I called back BMW Canada and they said they would have him call me. Again he never did. After a week I called BMW Canada to complain again and they called him and transferred the call to me. I asked the complaint department to stay on the line as I spoke with him. She said she could not but to call her back after my call with him.I spoke with him for about 5 minutes. He was belligerent and kept saying they were not thieves. He would not give me an explanation as to how this could have happened. Since I was getting nowhere with him, I hung up and called back the complaint department again at BMW Canada. The woman had left for the day (16:00hr). I left numerous messages for BMW Canada to call me and finally heard back. They say there is nothing they can do other than when the dealership comes up for review, bring it up. If this is how BMW deals with their clients, I promise you this will be my last BMW.

Fifteen days after my warranty expired, apparently the bushing on a thrust arm (I am told) popped and was leaking some kind of viscous fluid. I was told it would cost $690.13 to repair which included realigning my car. I had, less than a month ago, purchased four new tires and a realignment to the tune of $1,200. When I complained about this happening 15 days after my warranty expired (and my car only has about 50,000 miles on it) and having just paid for a realignment, I was told they would knock off the $150 realignment and a $50 co-pay. So now I am still having to pay almost $500 for this problem. What a ripoff.I also tried to get my oil and filter changed before my service contract expired, but was not accommodated. I was told by the service rep to see him next time I brought in my car and have asked for this service while my car has been in their shop for almost a week now. Dont know if they will do this for me as they are very unaccommodating. I am still upset about their inability to accommodate me.

Endless problems, high parts cost, Arrogant dealership! - I realize fully that my opinion(s) are not exactly the same as some out there who are chiming in with comments about more recent models purchased, new or used from BMW dealerships, but I thought I would give my two cents because of my shock that these cars are absolutely not built with the same quality of a Mercedes or of Chevrolet (at least when it comes to their Corvette products). Recently, I purchased a 1999 BMW 328i Convertible with 116,000 miles on it. I did so believing that BMW had superior quality and engineering. The car is so cosmetically perfect as to indicate that it had been well taken care of, and the Carfax was in order, too. The engine overall runs fine, although Ive already gone through two steering pumps because BMWs are apparently prone to having steering pump clogging issues with their steering pump filters, also, my air conditioning does not work properly due to a common BMW problem called the fan regulator switch. Realizing fully that there would be things that needed fixing on any car with such high mileage, I never in my life have heard of some of the ridiculous things that are wrong with this car nor have I ever experienced the sticker shock with regard to finding/purchasing parts in order to patch this thing back together (i.e. a new cup holder, which usually can only be ordered directly from BMW because there are no used ones on the market due to the fact that they are made so cheaply is $60.00 at the local arrogant dealership. A coin holder which is usually broken but which has to be replaced in order to complete the restoration of the center console is $30.00 and looks like nothing more than a small piece of thin plastic with cheap springs inside). The airbag light that is on is not due to something specifically wrong with one of the airbags, but rather has to do with the seat belt tensioner, a typically BMW, overkill, goofy part and/or mechanism, which requires a full replacement of the seat belt latching mechanism on the passenger side, $550.00 for the part from BMW, $150.00 if Im lucky to find a used one on eBay that actually works. And the service advisor at the local dealership here in Kansas City just kind of laughed, like theyve done about most things. When I asked for an estimate to have it installed, saying, Its hard to say how much it would cost, we dont do much work on the ‘older’ cars.” When I asked about the drivers seat, of which the power gears have locked up and no longer work, he simply flat out said We really dont do work like that on the ‘older cars’, and recommended one of two or three local boutique-type foreign car garages around town.” The same went for my convertible top, always with a good little arrogant laugh. I inquired about an oil change, and after another arrogant little chuckle, and checking with several other mechanics and service advisors, was told it would probably be about $100.00. This after Ive spent a good $1,000.00+ at their dealership on parts which Ive installed myself. Ive owned several sports cars in my life, most of which were purchased used, including 5 Corvettes, and two Mercedes-Benz SLs (one of the Mercedes had over 160,000 miles on it when purchased; the other over 80,000 miles). All were far superior cars to this ultimate driving machine, with far fewer problems of any kind on them. I cannot believe the shoddy quality of everything on this car. The plastic on almost every plastic part is cheap and cracks; electrical problems are now starting to crop up with my entire left tail light mechanism failing to operate now (never have I experienced a whole bank of tail lights failing on any car Ive ever owned, foreign or domestic). I realized I was going to have to replace the top because it was worn out; however, parts of the top that are necessary to complete the top rebuild are astronomical in price, with small plastic pieces and one foot of elastic cord costing $80.00 wholesale; one piece, available only from BMW, that is held in place with the stupidest design I ever saw of having one central screw in the center of the windshield, cost $283.00 and is so flimsy that its a wonder that it wont need replacing once a year. The top doesnt work correctly and there is no guarantee that it ever will. Ive seen 30 year old Chevrolets with tops that are not this intricate, cheap, nor prone to problems that still work beautifully. Just today, most of my tail lights and all of my interior lights stopped working!This car looks like it was well taken care of, but it must have all been to no avail. I now understand why a used BMW is only worth about 30% of what a used Mercedes is valued at. I did not sign on to being a Beemer owner thinking that I was buying something with as many problems as a 50 year old Jaguar or MG. I was thinking the quality would be more like a Mercedes and as for the arrogant preamble to this site, which says: “High-performance cars require lots and lots of very expensive routine maintenance. Also theyre notorious for being afflicted with all kinds of exotic problems. If youre really into cars, understand them and are willing to lavish time, money and attention on one, the BMW may be for you. If youre looking to raise your self-esteem by buying something really expensive, we recommend real estate.”Thats **! Furthermore, the arrogance of the people who work at the local dealership, including at the parts counter is unbelievable. They almost want to argue with you about what part you need. If they cant find it immediately, they get cranky and claim it doesnt exist, that that was a part that BMW didnt put on the car, or some other crazy excuse. Then, when you finally bring them a part number, they apologize and tell you its $500.00. A Corvette and Mercedes SLs are high performance cars, and I do understand cars, and BMWs are pieces of crap! Just my two cents, but I will never purchase a BMW, new or used ever again!

Anyways to make a long story short, I looked up this issue and found out this is not just a small problem but many older BMWs are all having the same problem. Apparently, they made the transfer gear out of plastic which tends to wear out right away. I thought this was something that maybe just a few cars were experiencing, but going on the internet, a lot of these BMWs are having the same problem. Is there a recall for this issue because there should be if BMW is making this actuator to fail on a lot of BMWs.

Purchased a CPO 2006 X3 with 13K on it in 2006. Car now has 103K on it. First time buy of a BMW for us. Have owned many different brands (Ford, GM, Dodge, Audi, Honda) and I have never had anywhere near the range of problems that the BMW has had with any of them. Car was back at the dealer every 3 months like clockwork over a 3 year period for a different failure each time. Everything was fixed under the extended warranty that comes with the CPO cars (thanks God!!) and the dealer has been very good at fixing each problem. But due to the wide variety of failures, whatever confidence I had in the ultimate driving machine is long gone. Car is used for commuting to work daily for my wife and has always been garaged. The list of failures fixed under warranty: Torn engine mount, Sunroof controller failed, heated steering wheel failed (which also required a new airbag due to chaffed wires in the steering wheel), failed engine computer, failed rear wiper motor, water in the high mounted LED brake light, failed drivers seat position memory module, rear passenger door lock failed, broken rear coil spring and there is an oil leak around the oil filter housing (something that I learned is very common and an $800 repair at the dealer). The things that I had to fix myself once the car came off warranty: Failed front drive shaft CV joint because the boot cracked and slung out all the grease and the other rear coil spring broke. While replacing the drive shaft I found that the steel used in the car is very cheap. I sheared off a bolt head like it was made of butter while removing the front suspension strut. BMW makes very nice cards out of very poor materials. The interior of the car is not holding up too well either. The seat vinyl is cracking and some of the bezels around the switches in the door panels are peeling off a layer of plastic. Last BMW Ill ever buy.

As a driving machine it is awesome, but their Bluetooth and Navigation software is beyond terrible... it is USELESS! The navigation software is only useful if the address has existed for more than 40 years in some cases, and every year, BMW tries to sell you an updated navigation disc for $200.00 - are you kidding me? The Bluetooth phone software is at least three years old on my 2012 X5 and even with their software update, it is at least two years behind current technology. I had to search for and buy a retro cell phone that BMW claims works in my car, but it DOES NOT! The software repeatedly drops calls and now its even dropping my phone from the system, causing me to repeatedly have to add new phone in the telephone Bluetooth menu; a process that can take several attempts and in one case more than an hour. I was doing this at least twice a week until I just said the hell with it and now dont use my phone through the BMW Bluetooth system. This is a huge inconvenience for me, as I make a lot of calls from my car in conjunction with my business. This has become so bad that I cannot use my phone in the car, unless I stop, turn on my Bose Bluetooth earpiece and make the call directly from my phone. I have complained to BMW numerous times, but quite frankly, they dont care. Their excuse is that BMW doesnt actually make the software, but purchases it from another vendor. When I pay in excess of $83,000.00 for a vehicle, I expect to be able to use my phone and access my phone book from the navigation screen and not have to stop my car and use a Bluetooth earpiece to initiate or receive a phone call. It is incomprehensible to me why BMW does not contract with a software company that will allow BMW owners to use whatever cell phone they wish and have it work properly in the car. As it stands now, only the iPhone will work in BMWs and then only certain of those and then only some of the time. I will not have an iPhone and I shouldnt have to use a phone I dont want, after spending the better part of one hundred thousand dollars for a BMW.

Then I found out the restrictions along with the free maintenance which includes only one oil change a year. I live in an area where there is no BMW dealership. So after two years, I took my vehicle in to a local place so that I could get oil changes after 6 months. I thought it would be a good test to see how good the place was too since I would be taking it in to the dealership the next time. The service place reset the indicator lights on my BMW so that I wouldnt get the incessant notification - I thought was nice of them to do that. My mistake. I took my vehicle in after 50,000 miles to get it serviced and BMW said they couldnt perform most of the major 45,000 and 50,000 mile maintenance because the service light wasnt on. I tried to escalate by calling Customer Relations, but they pushed it back to the Dealership and the area managers. The area managers said since I hadnt been in to a dealership for over a year, it showed that I didnt have any brand loyalty.Keep in mind the closest BMW dealership to me is about 45 minutes away - so not a quick drop off. Also, keep in mind I went the past two years and realized they would only perform maintenance on my vehicle once a year anyway - anything earlier and I wasnt qualified for any service. Seriously? How much does it cost to change spark plugs on my car anyway?!?! Theyve certainly lost a customer in me. I was going to have other service completed ($800+) but after this treatment, Ill take my chances and go to a local place instead.Ill give them credit that they did perform some of the other warranty covered items (like replacing gaskets, etc.), but it makes me angry and frustrated that they wont perform the regularly scheduled maintenance items due to me not having brand loyalty, especially when Ive always gone to BMW except for one time. And something as minor as not changing spark plugs has decidedly made me never to buy BMW again. I love the way the cars drive, but the joy of driving it doesnt compensate for the poor treatment I get as a customer. I should have listened to everyone else who said BMW doesnt care about their customers.

The next day I did not drive my car. On 07/03/13 at approximately 6pm the AC stopped working completely. BMW service dept. was closed and the next day was 4th of July. On Friday 07/05/13, at approximately 7am, I took my car to BMW service dept. At approximately 430pm, I get a call saying a part (Blower Regulator) in the AC blew/shorted out, they could not get the part until Monday and I could keep my loaner car until Monday. On Monday 07/08/13 at approximately 230pm, I get a call saying my car was ready and I can pick it up! Note they also serviced my car. When I received my car I noticed they had the AC blowing full blast, set on Max 60 degrees, blower on Max and noisy! The outside heat was in the hundreds so I thought they had it up because the car had been sitting and they wanted it cool when I got in the car. But I notice after driving about 10 or 15 minutes and stopping at stop lights I was sweating, my forehead was burning and something was not right. The AC was not fixed properly or they put in another Faulty Blower Regulator! This was my second Bakersfield Summer driving my BMW. The heat can get as high as 110 degrees and I never had to keep my car AC set on MAX any/everything. I always kept it set on 71 to 75 degrees, with blower on medium, this was very comfortable! I am anemic and get cold very easily! Now at my normal setting I am burning up and sweating, the air blowing out of the AC does not reach me which tells me the New Blower Regulator is not working properly or they put in a used faulty one. I am riding in a $57,000.00 car and sweating like a pig! My friends and family rode with me this past weekend and were complaining they were burning up, had to keep AC on MAX which burns a lot more gas! I took my car back to BMW on 07/11/13 to have them fix it correctly. At the end of the day I get call from BMW service dept. basically saying there is nothing is wrong with my AC! The Rep and I were sitting in my car talking about the issues with the AC, the AC was MAX, the BMW service Rep is sitting there wiping sweat off his forehead looking stunned, he is trying to tell the AC inside the unit is putting out 40 degrees air (per their gauge), yet after 15 minute of talking the Car cabin is 80 degrees! He could not explain it and went to get the service dept. manager! Manager did everything the Rep did, even went to get a new 528i to show that AC is normal. My car is not Normal! I am still burning up and sweating especially at stop lights/signs, people in back seat is burning up, the air is not reaching them! The Manager keeps saying he can not fix what is not broken! The Manager refused fix the problem correctly! The Manager stated several time I cant fix what is not broken! It is obvious the New blower Regulator is faulty, its not blowing the air out enough to reach me! I just want my AC to work correctly like the day I bought this $57,000.00 Car! Put in a Brand New Blower Regulator!

Its very possible one of these employees introduced oil to your cooling system via the overflow tank which could have long term effects on your engine, water pump, etc. I believe if you are a BMW owner or German car owner in general, you need to have some basic automotive understanding which would include NOT taking your car to any random oil change place. Learn how to do it yourself using the correct oil, filter and tools, and it can be so rewarding. Or take it to someone who cares about your car as much as you do...

Overall I was very pleased with having purchased a German car, until it reached 140k miles. In a 6 month span, my 04 325i (worth only $5,000) has broken down SEVEN times. In this timeframe I have invested close to $7,000 solely in repairs. This car has broken down on the side of the road (needed new fuel pump, $700), the window motor needed to be replaced ($600), crack in radiator (had to replace entire radiator, $1,400), needed new air pump and strut replaced ($1,800) yet another radiator replacement ($1000), and finally, when I started my car the exhaust spewed white smoke with the smell of gas (hoses and valves and a gasket were replaced, $1,400). Do NOT purchase a BMW or any German car for that matter. These cars are completely unreliable and not meant to be driven for hundreds of thousands of miles. There is a reason dealerships will only cover maintenance for the first 90k miles. Dont be penny smart and dollar stupid! These foreign cars are not worth it!

My dealer service person believes that the lenses were made of a lower quality plastic in this time frame compared to newer models. The only repair is to replace the whole headlight assemblies at $2,000 each. The Customer Relations person at BMW USA cheerfully took the complaint and said that nothing would be done. We are on our own. It is always nice to see a company stand behind a poor engineering decision, which is widely known within the company.

I have another car that I drive to work during the week, so the BMW is mainly used as my weekend vehicle. About four years later, I noticed the paint starting to wear on the hood. Then about three or four months after that, the paint on the roof of the car started to fade, and lastly the paint on the trunk of the car, noticed fading. I took it to Tom Williams and spoke with the service manager and the regional manager, who was scheduled to be in town that day. They took my vehicle to one of the service men, and he stated that it looked like soap may have been left on the car and that it could be buffed out. From there, they informed me to take it to their Collision Center to have it buffed out. The servicemen at the Collision Center told me that they could not buff it out and that it was a defect in the clear coat that was originally put on the car. I was given an 800 number from the servicemen at BMW, and from there, they told me that my vehicle was out of warranty. I took it to a few other local body shops, and they informed me of the same thing; that it was the clear coat that was poorly applied. The local serviceman asked me if I had the car shipped, and I answered yes. I special ordered this vehicle and had it shipped here to the U.S. He informed me that he had other customers who had the same complaint and that it may have been the salt water that caused the paint fade. He informed me that it was a water-borne clear coat that was initially put on the car, and that it was a poor type of paint that is not designed to last for the amount of money that consumers pay for this type of vehicle. This is my dream car, and it is very disappointing to know that I invested this much money in a vehicle to have to drive around with fading paint. I have a Toyota that I have had and driven for 15 years now, and the paint is still intact, and it puzzles me that and after five years the paint on my BMW is worn.

Without warning, my 2007 BMW 328Xi engine shut off and stopped in the middle of a busy road. I was told by a BMW service rep that my fuel tank draw tube fell off causing loss of fuel to the engine. I learned online that this is happening to other 2007 era BMWs and the reason is that the fuel draw tube is corroded by the fuel it is drawing and weakens and falls off. The fix is a new fuel tank, pump and draw tube for excess of $2,000.When contacted by my service rep, BMW gave a token $500 toward my repair leaving me with a $1,900 repair bill. Had this failure occurred on a busy Seattle freeway, my life would have been in grave danger as would have others around me - there would have been an accident with no way to avoid it. BMW is aware of their product failure and my question is who has to die before BMW steps up to the plate and accepts responsibility and recalls and repairs these vehicles? If you own a 5-7 year old BMW (maybe newer), its going to happen to you and I would appreciate your raising your voice to BMW before someone has to die to get BMWs attention.

This car cost over $100,000, what type of valve stem guides do they use that they wear out at such low miles, not to mention a transmission, both items last longer on a $30,000 Honda... How pathetic!I spoke with BMW North America. They refused to warranty the defective items, and if one would check the new engines in BMWs, they would find most are burning oil very prematurely because the new engine design is built with sub par parts... This is a car costing over $100,000.00. I am disgusted with this horrible excuse of a luxury vehicle and more so the haughty attitude of BMW. One more thing, the dealer I was using Checkered Flag is horrible. They returned my car after a service, 4 quarts low on oil. When I called them, they said the oil sensor was faulty, when actually it was their lazy and inept service approach. I have engaged the services of a lawyer on this one!

I contact BMW RSA to let them know how I am being spoken to and that I would like my vehicle returned. I went to Google and wrote a review about the towing company.10 minutes later BMW RSA calls me back and say that T & T towing is refusing to return my vehicle because of my review. (Second sign they dont care) why would you call me. I don’t know them. YOU (BMW) chose them to tow my car. So if you are saying they won’t return it then my car is stolen at this point. Another Hour goes by no car. I now get the police involved and T & T towing decides to bring back my car. It is now 12am the next day.I called BMW to schedule a pickup for the next morning for 7:30-8am so they can get it because I go to work. I called the next morning at 8 only to be informed NO Tow truck was scheduled (Third sign they dont care). I call them and rearrange and afternoon pickup after 5. I get car tow by Past and Present Towing and Recovery. I go pick up my car and I now have a BIG gash missing from my bumper. I call and file a claim on June 5th 2019.First BMW denied my claim saying there is no record they towed my vehicle a second time. Then after I got RSA to send report because it seems customer service and RSA are on different networks and it shows they towed it twice. I am on month 3 and they STILL havent made a decision on my vehicle. I am going to sell this car and get an Audi or Mercedes. No reason to spend this much and they treat you like this.

I was told by the service advisor that it needed coils, a new belt, belt tensioner, and some type of “boot” due to an oil leak. They quoted my over $2,000 for the repair. I told them I could not afford that much unexpected repair work and agreed to the battery and coils, which they said were a minimum to get the vehicle running properly at a cost of about $1,250. I also told them that my 16-year-old daughter drives the vehicle to school (around 5-10 miles a day) and that I was having it repaired because she wanted to drive it to a school dance the following day. 10 days later and less than 100 miles following the $1,250 repair, the vehicle was towed to the private garage of a retired BMW technician due to a coolant leak. After he inspected the vehicle, he told me that there was nothing wrong other than the radiator hose clamp had been removed and slid down the hose at the heater core. This could be seen easily by a BMW technician. He repaired the vehicle by reconnecting the hose/hose clamp and replacing the coolant.I called Birmingham BMW 6 times without a return call over a 10 day period and went by the dealership in-person once to speak with them about my issue and no one would talk with me. When I asked to speak with a manager and for a business card for the manager I was told that everyone was in a meeting and that they did not give out business cards. I persisted for a contact in writing for management and the wrote a name and number on a post-it note.I shared this with BMW of North America and asked for help contacting the dealership. I received a call from a service advisor the following day, who proceeded to make excuses when I shared my concerns then he transferred me to a service manager who acted in disbelief when I told him what happened to me. I shared my concern that the service department was pushy about the need for service with urgency to do it quickly before something broke and rendered the car undriveable. I question this culture within the dealership and asked the service manager how a technician could miss something as obvious as a clamp that had been disconnected and slid down the hose? I was told that the technician would not see an issue with the cooling system since he was working on the battery/coil pack/electrical system. To which I replied, then how did they find issues related to an oil leak and the belt and belt tensioner? And they had no response other than they would check into it. I have had no further response and feel that I cannot trust BMW Birmingham, Alabama to service my vehicle.

The rear disc brake rotor carrier broke letting the rear disc rotor lock up my rear wheel causing the motorcycle to skid out of control. Filed this complaint with traffic administration. Replaced part. New part is now made out of steel. Old one was aluminum.

The vehicle BMW 328i Sedan was apparently bought back by BMW NA and then they did something to the vehicle. The buyer I have located is interested but wants to know what was done to the cat during buy-back and was put back to sale by BMW NA. When I call them, they say they can give service history but not what caused the buy-back nor what was done before they put it back on market. Dealership that bought the car post Buyback nor any others are giving any information.Since buying I have spent close to $5000 for repairs and they are growing by minute. I was surprised and appalled at the apathy to consumer request at BMW NA. Since then I have done lots of research and found BMW is worse than any American mfg. company. American companies connect you to their warranty department and service experts and try to do justice to your request. Not so with BMW. The customer service reps at BMW NA either refused to connect me to higher ups or disconnected me. One rep clearly told me that information is with higher ups and when I requested to connect me, she flatly refused. It is amazing that they seem to have no qualms about this and have been trained to behave this way, that much was clear. Best suggestion to you is to dump this expensive piece of junk and do yourself a favor. Forget dealing with this stupid company or its cars.

They performed an inspection of the car, then to find out that after she left, BMW Financial had the car picked up and brought to another state to only then get an excessive damage bill in the mail of an extra $500.00 dollars. My wife said where did this come from, we had an inspection done at the dealership and there was no such damage done to the car, my wife then said please show me pictures of the damage; they could not produce such pictures, but to only say she is being held liable for the excessive damages, and it has been harassment from that point on.Now, they have a place called vital recovery that is threatening her if she does not pay and going into our personal accounts. This is extremely poor taste of business from such a large car dealership. They cannot produce any proof of damages but to only say that the damages are there, here is a financial company that took a vehicle that she once leased and took it into another state, and then, they said that they performed another inspection and that is where they are coming up with this extra damage. Now, how much of a trap is that. My wife told them that I then needed to be at this inspection to witness it but now look what BMW financial is trying to pull, I say they damaged the car transporting it, and are looking for my wife to pay for it, and I wont have that. All they are doing is harassing my wife everyday.

Take in mind, two of my friends who got this recall done, BOTH of their starters went out at the SAME time. So I told this guy, Cody, that if my starter goes out... Ill be back, he goes thats interesting, but definitely let me know if the starter goes out. So I have the car for one day... I pull up to a gas station, turn the car off to get some gas. Try and turn it back on. Wow turns out my starter went out. Called BMW to get it looked at, they tell me my starter is out and that its going to be a whopping $1,400 to fix my starter and regulator for my window. This is ridiculous, so the manager called me and basically said that Im WRONG over and over and he had to be right. I asked him if it were a possibility that the starter got too much power to it? From this new cable. NOPE Im wrong, theres no chance at all. Just because the starter is somewhere else doesnt MEAN that this recall defected my starter. Weird cause my car was in perfect condition before that recall, and before the power went out. Will never be doing business with this corrupt company ever again.

People who have no teeth have a BMW. BMWs are just about the most commonplace car in Germany, like a Toyota Camry here. Somehow, the brilliant marketing campaign and the high price tag for initial purchase and maintenance have convinced North Americans that BMWs are a luxury ultimate driving machine. Autobahn sounds so cool in English. In German, auto means car, bahn means way (as in U Bahn, sub-way, S Bahn, another type of subway, and autobahn, car-way or highway). Before you think that the company will value your $400,000 spending over 10 years, think again. They dont really care as they are already laughing all the way to the bank. In fact, the more expensive the maintenance, the more prestigious the brand. The brand is for people who have money to burn. The more mechanic problems, breakdowns, and barriers the company creates, the more it sets the people apart in who can maintain this prestige factor. For those that have had a bad sales experience, it is a failure of the dealership employing sales people that do not know their product and over promising and under delivering.If you buy a used car especially over 85k, as I read regarding the X5, expect it to have mechanical failures with some parts that require maintenance, i.e. cooling system parts such as t-stats and water pumps. Modern cars that are built by teams of suppliers are all prone to failures of suspension parts, bushings, window regulators, etc. and is an unfortunate result of the economies of building a car, any car. Buying a car because you thought it was prestigious, well, thats just an expectation residing in stupidity. BMW have never stated their x products are true off roaders (look at the wheels and tire profiles!). If you want that, buy a jeep or LandRover or LandCruiser. Navigation systems, blame the software guys (probably Navteq). They provide the disks for everyone in the industry. The car you purchased CPO was state of the art at the time and has evolved quite quickly. All of you expecting a car that is bare bones, be aware that most cars today have ecu/telematics units with more computing power than a Saturn V rocket (that took the Apollo astronauts to the moon). The trans guy? You needed a new clutch probably because you continued to drive the car after the trans light came on in which you probably needed a trans shift solenoid (approx $200). I am on my third car and have been fortunate to own many performance marques, all of which have had their share of issues. For the woman that claimed she was dismissed because car was out of warranty, what do you expect? What do you not understand? Out of warranty is out of warranty. You didnt complain if they fixed stuff at their cost within the warranty. Now, its your turn to incur cost. Cars arent cost free to maintain. You bought a car. A product. Thats it! You didnt do anything to qualify you for winning the Nobel prize so why should your expectation be that they fix your problem? Should they fix everyone elses car on the road thats out of warranty?For the guy with the motor mount issue, your car was probably in an accident. I have seen CPOD cars sold without disclosure of accidents by a major luxury japanese manufacturer and thats not the fault of the marque but the dealerships shoddy and shady selling practices. Conclusion, educate yourself if you buy anything. And stop with blame or false expectations that youre owed something. Car manufacturers step up to the plate to cover you either warranty or goodwill when analytics show there is a problem.

Also, the electric water pump became defective as a result of electrical problems secondary to the defective battery cables and has to be replaced. I requested reimbursement for new battery and water pump as result of faulty battery terminal cables which led to electrical problems. After 5 hours an overly long and drawn out negotiation, and after being physically and mentally exhausted, we agreed to a deal. The first offer provided to me on my trade-in value for my car, which was at 50,000 miles, was $15k… A few hours later, and after many back and forths on lease options, monthly payments, etc., they begrudgingly offered me $17k, justifying the low amount for a windshield that had been cracked and filled by Safelite previously, and 4 worn tires. The car was in impeccable condition otherwise, and BMW assured me they could only retail it for $19k.On March 5, after only 2 days of actually driving the car, I experienced a horrifying issue - I lost the throttle in my car in 2nd and 3rd gears. I was on a 60-mile drive back to my home at night by myself, and while in stop-and-go local traffic, accelerating and merging onto a major highway, and then in local traffic again, I found I had lost any and all throttle over first gear. My speed dropped from 60 mph to 35 mph in seconds and without warning. I narrowly escaped, I would say, at least 10 precarious situations that were nearly horrible accidents. I ended up driving the car straight into the dealer in Roxbury fearing for my safety.They had the car until March 8. Service told me they dont know what caused the issue - they couldnt reproduce it - and asked me all kinds of insulting questions, inferring that maybe I didnt understand how to drive a manual transmission when Ive driven one for nearly 20 years. Or, maybe I just didnt understand the auto start and stop feature, or maybe I just couldnt differentiate scenarios during which it would be appropriate for a car to either go or to stop”. They said they spoke with BMW engineers who told them it could have been a faulty fan sensor and fan, which would have cut the throttle to protect an engine overheat. Brand new car, no issue showing on the temperature gauge. Car was returned late Friday night. While I was waiting for the car that Friday, I found the flyer for the resale of my traded-in 2009 330. They had created a sticker for $21,959... about $5k more than what they have given me on the trade-in. Nearly a 25% margin on my trade in. I kept the flyer for my own records.On March 13, again on a late night drive back to my home, the same issue happened. Same real danger of accident and this time I had a friend following me who witnessed the behavior of the car. I called the morning of March 14 and Service offered to come pick up the car for service and drop off the loaner. Its now March 15 and I havent heard a status yet. I paid the $499 initial monthly lease payment on March 2 and BMW has had the car for 7 of the 13 days its been in my possession.At this point, I would like to return the car for a full refund since it is neither safe, reliable, enjoyable or usable... and I would like my 2009 330 back and to walk away from BMW and never look back!

RPMs even go down when I give it gas. This X6 as well as my previous one have given me nightmares since 2009. BMW and its authorized service are horrible. They are not reliable! They are dangerous! They are selling defective products that are dangerous and refuse to even talk to the people who they are obligated to under their warranties.

The car has been well maintained with all recommended services throughout the period. My wife and I are over 70 and do not drive the car aggressively. Here is my repair experience with this car. All but the first occurred after the 50,000 mile warranty expired: Air conditioner hose connection leaked refrigerant -- replaced hose. Headlight washer nozzle dropped off -- replaced nozzle. Plastic water overflow tank seam separated -- replaced tank. Vacuum pump leaked -- replaced vacuum pump. Oil leaked through several front engine seals and valve covers -- replaced seals. Burnt oil of 1 quart per thousand miles, through valve seals -- replaced valve seals. Vacuum leak through fuel pump activating engine/emission light -- replaced fuel pump. Total cost for these repairs was around $15,000 over 3 years. All of the repairs were done at BMW dealerships. (This, of course, was over and above normal maintenance like oil changes, adding oil, alignments, tires, brake pads, inspections, etc.) Fortunately, I had third party extended warranty coverage.The dealership mechanics told me these problems are common with BMW V8 engines. There are several reports on the web of these same problems. While BMW touts their engineering, they obviously dont engineer seals that lasts 100,000 miles. If you are considering a used BMW V8, count on $3,000 to $5,000 in repairs a year plus typical maintenance. By the way, I generally keep a car for 200,000 miles or more. The BMW is the priciest car I have owned. It also has had more repairs up to now than any of my other cars throughout their 200,000 mile life history. The car is a nice car to drive. However, given my experience, I cannot recommend a BMW. The problems I experienced had nothing to do with the the sophistication of the design. They were all basic part failures!

I was told, sometimes a person wakes up in the morning and by the afternoon they had a heart attack and die. Wow! When I said that my child was the one driving, I was told, if I cared so much about my child, I should think about putting my child in a newer car that does not have 111,000 miles on it. No words!When I purchased the car 4 years ago, it had 50,000 miles on it. The salesman told me that a BMW engine just starts to put at 100,000 miles. Funny, how when something goes wrong, then its an old car. Currently, there are 57 BMWs around me that are being sold at BMW dealerships with mileage over 100,000 and they are not cheap. I am upset and saddened that a BMW service tech would be as insensitive and a whole lot more.

BMW advertised their cars as the ultimate driving machine, I think the quality of their cars had felt way below standard. There is nothing I can do about it since besides selling it. Dont bother to call their service manager or BMW of North America to waste your time. You will be going around in circles and you will find yourself angrier with gaining nothing. I had drove BMW for many years. Bottom line is, do not buy any BMW, the quality of their cars is not built like before.

So far 1) the front end had to be to be replaced, 2) airbag recall, 3) Idle stop stopped working, 4) smell of fuel lingers in the interior, 5) most of the vents are brittle and break, 6) hazard lights switch is broken, replaced and broke again three days later. 7) Rear hatch door unlatches when gremlins want in or out, 8) rear door latch passenger side won’t latch. A door I rarely used.9) Valve cover and gasket replaced with 89000km (55000 miles), 10) Hole in the valve cover, 11) rust coming through under the rear hatch door. Told by Georgian BMW, Service Manager, who never worked in a body shop I was told, nor his manager, This I was told was due to a alteration. Car has never been in an accident, no record of an accident is apparent. BMW Canada told me to get the dealership to take pictures of the rusted area, Georgian BMW refused. (I won’t step foot in that door ever again and make it a point to tell anyone of the troubles I have with both car and dealership.)12) Doors locked with car running, 13) side plastic plate at bottom of door pops off. Had to use $4.00 tube of silicon on a “fine piece of German Engineering”. 14) Front cowl is plastic and broke off while hitting a pothole in the cold... Did I say...plastic front cowl like in the same plastic in the toy cars my Grandchildren play within the bathtub...but obviously more resilient. 15) Intermittent wipers are stuck on one speed. Told by Georgian BMW this was due to an aftermarket windshield. Odd in the corner of the windshield it reads BMW and I had never replaced it from when I bought the car. Funny that whenever I go into a BMW Shop to repair my car, continuously try to sell me a new and improved model of crap.

Service manager told to me My X4 and many X4 has some problem about on back seat babe sitting fixing problem. This is fabrication error for all X4 BMW models. And they told to me this between 2-5 days service and they offer me complementary car replace with my car and fix my car. I accepted and I waited more than 1 hours. After that they took my car and they offer me TOYOTA COROLLA for one week driving for free. But I bought less than 1 year ago paid 59 K and bought BMW X4 and service try to give me Corolla. Ridiculous and I didnt accepted and go back to my house and I waste my time for with stupid paper works.I wont refer to anyone and BMW driver do not choose this Service... And service guy extremely rude too. His name is Joseph **. Dont waste your time and try another BMW service and dealer. Before I used 2 different BMW service dealer and both gave to me wonderful service. I am stupid to try Lauderdale BMW of Pembroke Pines but again hell NOOO.

In over a year, Ive spent the total amount of R26475.05 trying to get this problem resolved. Every three to four months, the car has the same problem. Every time I take it to a BMW dealer, they never take responsibility for the previous work or parts that was replaced on the car. They double charged me, and I cannot seem to get the problem resolved. The car has been booked in numerous times; if a service is requested to be done on the car, they claim they have done full diagnostic tests on the car. So, how come I have to fork out a fortune every three to four months to fix the car?

I acknowledge that there are reams of reports on early transmission failures in the E46. My 2003/325 transmission failed at 70,000 miles. However, Im not sure how many reports exist of transmission failure twice in the same car, as I experienced recently. Interestingly this occurred again at an interval of roughly 70,000 miles in the new transmission. As far as I know, BMW continues to deny culpability. Certainly, I would be eager to participate in legal action.

I want to share all my problems with this car with you guys. DME or ECU replacement and programming $ 3300.00. Alternator bracket leak $800.00. Timing cover and valve cover oil leaks $ 1800.00. Water pump replacement $600.00. Check this one out, engine transfer coolant pipe $2000.00 and thats using the bimmer pipe. Thanks to the guys. They invented this wonderful pipe that save me $5000.00. Yeah. BMW want it 7k for this job. AC heater valves $200.00, AC compressor $1050. Im the second owner of this car. I bought it with 40,000 miles. Now the car has 74,000 miles and more problems. Now the car doesnt want to start. It cant keep idle. I think its the throttle body or it could be the DME again-- look guys, Im sharing all of this with you guys cause I see all of this. People that want to buy a use BMW pls dont. Its cheaper to buy a glass of lemonade if you know what I mean. For me I rather died than buy a BMW new or used. Again thats all I have to said about that. BMW should really pay for these lemons that have sold over the years to people. Thanks for reading my frustrations.

I have never had a worse experience in purchasing a new car than from Schomp BMW (Highlands Ranch, CO). Sales people were warm and friendly but management and the quality of the car was terrible. The day I took the car off the lot, check engine light came on. Called my sales rep and he asked me to bring the car in to get it reviewed and fixed. Two weeks later, I got the car back. One week after that, engine light came on, yet again. Same as before, waited two weeks to get the car back. I was hoping this was the end of it. One day later, check engine light. At this point, I was incredibly frustrated and concerned that I bought a lemon given its been in the shop 3 times with less than 400 miles on the car.Asked Schomp BMW to provide an extended warranty given how many times I had to bring it back into the shop for repairs. Management was willing to look into the warranty and mentioned they would go to bat for me. They also asked if I would be willing to pay another $1K for the warranty if needed and wanted to manage expectations. I said absolutely not given the number of issues I have had with the brand new car. They called me back a couple days later and said they could provide the warranty if I pay $2K. Thats double what they initially told me! You dont set the anchor price in one conversation and then double it in another. Thats Sales 101.I ended up giving the car back to Schomp and getting a refund. Its a bummer. I really liked the car and was also working with the Sales rep on purchasing another vehicle. They are playing the short game and lost a long-term customer as I will never buy a BWM or another car from a Schomp dealership. What a terrible experience.

I explained to Ms Jodi ** that my experiences with BMW technicians that either rigged or did not properly repaired my vehicle. After not being satisfied with case managers decision, I requested to speak to the department manager, and it was denied. Ms. Jodi ** just simply told me that she was fully capable of making a decision and would not forward me/my contact information to the upper management because they are there for administrative purposes only! Now, being a member of an administrative e system myself, Im sure that Ms. **s supervisor is not aware of her management style/behavior.I have a BMW X5(4.4) that windows frequently fail/collapse since its purchase, without warning. Yes, it is out of warranty but, I purchased upscale vehicles for their history and dependability. I have influenced many into purchasing a BMW, even my husband. But, I promise you and vow, that I will convince even more why not to purchase a BMW. I am very disappointed on how BMW treat their customers, especially, Ms. Jodi **. We do own other luxury vehicles, and if we have to turn all our BMWs into their brands, Im a sure that the other brands wont mind.
